Here is the official flyer for my adopt a grandparent campaign. I currently have taken in $20/$300

The second photo is to show that I do have socks and the lip balm already. I just need to buy the candy and start wrapping everything up. I will keep this updated as I get money in. Last year I spent $700 of my savings thinking I was going to be able to get it back fairly easy. I did not get it all back and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to donate anything. The newspaper would not help me unless I bought an ad and the Chamber of Commerce told me they did their own charity work and they did not promote anyone else's.

I actually got more money from people on Tumblr that I had never met than I did any of the people in the community who actually knew the elderly patients these gifts are going to.

Everyone is so scared of aging, how their faces will change and how wrinkles will form on their body. But I think every wrinkle tells a story, that they're souvenirs you earn along the way. I am starting to put everything together now. Putting cards in envelopes and labeling them as men or ladies to go with the appropriate gifts. I got half of the candy bagged today and will probably start wrapping up the men's gifts tomorrow. I did have to order a little bit more of the Christmas ribbon candy which has turned out to be really expensive this year. I can remember when I used to get a can for about 350 now it is about $9.

I am going to have some of my students signs some more cards and I have about 25 more cards to sign myself so I'm about halfway done and I am putting down the names of every person that donated or the initials.

I still have a week to go. I am going to deliver them on December 16th which is the anniversary of my father's death.
