OSRS Stocks Quickie: Necklace of Faith
I like enchanting jewellery. Or to be a bit more accurate, I get a lot of superfluous currency to buy bags of gems with, so I like to make time to enchant jewellery for profit. It's only been recently that I've learned the value in teleportation jewellery like the games necklace or the digsite pendant, usually I'm just trying to make a buck.
I will say though - heads up to anyone who isn't very enthused about training their Hunter skill, birdhouse traps on Fossil Island give out a lot of XP and a lot of extremely valuable bird nests. Digsite pendants are your friend if you've unlocked the Fossil Island location. Again, teleportation jewellery is a fairly recent appreciation of mine.
I don't know why I was looking up enchant spells, but I came across the wiki page for Lvl-3 Enchant and came across the Necklace of Faith. And after checking some of the other enchanted jewellery, this thing just kinda sucks.
Now, granted - I'm not familiar with the necklace of faith. I tend to make bracelets of slaughter because they're worth more on the GE. And while I could say that they're the least valuable item as far as enchanted red topaz jewellery goes, that's technically not true - Efaritay's aid has more of a value drop on the GE than the necklace of faith:
But Efaritay's aid - as limited as it is - lets you use non-silver weaponry to fight vampires. Your damage cap is stuck at 10, but I still think that's kind of a neat effect.
The effect of the necklace of faith, verbatim from the wiki, is:
"When worn, the necklace will restore the wearer's prayer points by 10% if their hitpoints drop below 20%. Once the effect takes place, the necklace will degrade to dust. However, if the player is reduced to zero hitpoints from above 20%, the necklace will have no effect and the player will die as usual."
Personally, I think that's a weak-ass effect. You might get enough oomph out of this if you're at level 70 prayer or so, where you get a measly SEVEN prayer points to work with, but at the lower levels this item is genuinely useless imo. You also have to get whittled down to 20% health before it kicks in, at which point it's entirely possible that the next hit from the opponent will kill you, rendering the effect meaningless. They even accounted for the possibility that the player would be killed with a hit that damages them for more than 20% of their HP. If you're at 20% health and you've already burned through 70+ prayer points, chances are you're hosed.
I did introduce this item by saying that it sucks, but I can see how going into combat with this could help you pull a hail mary if you're good enough at the game. But I feel like it's not particularly appreciated anyway, which is why I wanted to cover it.
Looking at the value chart, this item's value peaked at almost 2,000 gold pieces when it was introduced:
Went into freefall and bottomed out at 628 gold pieces two years later - seemingly due to high demand, which didn't even breach 500 daily trades on the Grand Exchange:
Then hit a peak in 2020:
After which it fizzled out and maintained a steady value - it ebbs and flows, but it's nothing too crazy.
What gets me is that in February 2023, the daily trading volume hit a significant peak of 399 items, but the price was barely affected. You can see how the absolute nadir of the necklace's value was when there was a huge spike in GE sales, and the little anthill where it was briefly valuable again is nestled between two little peaks of GE sales. This thing did numbers - at least compared to its entire life on the Grand Exchange - and nothing happened to the value. Ebbs and flows, but nothing significant.
I'm rather fond of the ensouled chaos druid head, which is why I wanted to talk about it and bring attention to it. The necklace of faith is just kinda silly though. Low value, sucky effect and ridiculously unpopular.
As a postscript, though, I did look into onyx jewellery - and I found an item that increases the damage of all granite weapons by 20%, but it reduces your accuracy and your defense against all styles of attack. The best part is, you can't even use it with the necklace of faith, because they're both necklaces!
I would consider making a regular post about the berserker necklace, especially since it's worth like 500,000 gold pieces less than an unenchanted onyx necklace, but that side of things is way out of my wheelhouse. But man, look at that frigging GE value chart - this thing was worth over three million gold at one point.
Moral of the story, the necklace of faith sucks. Let's point and laugh at it.
#that last part is just me being facetious. if you like it and wanna infodump on this post I'd honestly love to read it and post an update#osrs#old-school runescape#oldschool runescape#runescape#necklace of faith#osrs stonks

adamantinetower replied to your post: The woes of 61 Archaeology
DUDE GO OFF something about efaritay’s pages didnt feel right. everything about everlight is just “:/”
It’s not just me? HALLELUJAH
It’s like....pretty aesthetic and light imagery and tragic remains of cultural significance, but...
...they were literally the home base for an invading force intending to destroy/kick out any other god and their followers. :/ And the vampires wouldn’t have been able to destroy it if Saradomin hadn’t been busy, y’know, razing Senntisten.
I am a chunk of pink Himalayan rock salt when it comes to Everlight and Saradomin.
Seriously, though, it is such a relief to not be the only one going “:/”

ok, you don't like vanstrom, but how far does that go? like if he got married or had any kids would you dislike them by association?
I don’t have anything against Safalaan or Efaritay if that’s what you’re implying. They’re good characters who deserved some more development, and I don’t hold any of Vanstrom’s actions against his son and his ex-wife, no.
#spoilers#I guess#for the like... 3 ppl out there who would get mad abt someone talking about bajillion yr old quests#My Replies

Vanescula E, Sliske Y, Cyrisus H
Vanescula - Sharing a drink
There is anger in Efaritay’s eyes.
Not that Vanescula could blame her. What her family had doneto Efaritay’s, what Vanescula personally had done to her son – it was unforgiveable.Vanescula accepted this not with emotion, nor with sympathy, but with astraightforward logic. Efaritay would not forgive her; therefore, she would nottry to make her.
Still, if the truce was to work, Efaritay must tolerate theVyre’s presence, and Vanescula must make some… concessions.
So it was they sat, sharing a drink in the finest room ofCastle Drakan, and Vanescula remembers.
She remembers the first day on Gielinor, when Zaros solemnlywatched as she and her brothers devoured a human village. It was delicious, like nothing she’d ever tasted before.
Finally, the last human fell to her and Lowerniel. Most theyhad turned into Vyres, but this time, without discussion, they drank himtogether. It was both milestone and celebration, a vow that this new worldwould one day be theirs.
Even then, though, she had whispered to herself, in a voicethat even she couldn’t hear just yet, that this world wouldn’t be theirs. Itwould be hers.
Vanescula meets Efaritay’s eyes, and they drink. She tastesthe blood on her lips, and thinks that this is not an end, but a setback. Andoh, did she have time to wait it out.
Sliske - Tears
The dreams are the worst.
Most of the time, Cildwyr can handle it. It manifests itselfas a rage-filled urge he wouldn’t have had before, the ghost of an ambitionhe’d never wanted, but at night…
It’s hard to tell where he ends and Sliske begins.
This time, it’s Freneskae. A desolate landscape, pocked bylava and scars, the eyes of a woman, wide in fear, a scream of fear, gets mixedin with six deaths and the laughter of a Mahjarrat gets mixed up with the Stoneof Jas gets mixed up with a green dragon with red eyes, gets mixed up with awoman on the altar, gasping and choking or maybe that’s him –
This time, he wakes up and there are tears on his face. Hewipes his face with his hand and chokes back a sob.
Weak, pathetic, desperate thing hisses something inside of him, you have no right to those tears –
Those tears are mine, something else says back.
You’re crying mytears, they both say. Give them back!–
I suppose I’ll justhave to cry for the both of us now, Cildwyr thinks, and lets them fall fromhis eyes and run from his hands to fall on the bed, warm and unrelenting, and some of them, he is sure, are not his.
Cyrisus - Someone’s greatest fear
It’s tough, getting rid of a fear.
Look, I’ll be the first to admit it. I, ah, should know bynow. I was a bit of a coward, in the old days.
No, really! I know!
But ultimately, everyone has a fear. Even a reformed cowardlike me.
Try to guess.
No, it’s not death. That’s an easy one, so I’ll clear it upright now. I haven’t thought about death in, actually, quite some time.
Maybe I’m just biding my time, and the full existentialweight I’ve shouldered will come crashing down upon me and I’ll be paralyzed infear, never to awaken again!
Best not to think of it then, I suppose.
As for combat… I’ve gotten over that. Believe me or don’t.
Do you want to know my worst fear?
Chickens.
You laugh, but every day for thirty years I killed those things.Staring into their beady little eyes is like staring into the maw of hell. I’llfight the King Black Dragon before I’ll fight those things again.
So please, don’t feel too badly if this goes… the way Ithink it might.
I mean. Look, I don’t know for sure. Anything can happen,eh?
But Lucien….
I don’t know.
But hey.
If you’re ever tempted to think to yourself about thecruelty of the universe, if you ever hover over my grave and think to yourselfabout Cyrisus, the great hero whose life was cut off too soon, keep this inmind.
It wasn’t chickens that did me in in the end. This I swear.
This probably isn’t very inspiring.
Oh well.
Featuring my theories about Sliskefrag and the debut of my World Guardian, Cildwyr! I feel kind of bad about tormenting the poor man the first time I write about him, but such is life!
Thanks for these prompts; they were really fun!
(And I’m still accepting submissions for this post!)

Zorial has a CRAPTON of weapons she's accrued for the sake of Slayer, but hands down her favorite is Sunspear. A versatile weapon she can use for every style and the legendary weapon of the Hallowvale Icyene given by Efaritay herself, it has great personal significance. She has since augmented it with Invention skills and also affixed some crystal to it to help it better conduct her light magic.
World Guardian reblog game
What’s your World Guardian’s favorite weapon? And why, if you’re up to it?
Hemloc uses a Noxious Bow almost exclusively, because she fights a lot of magic users and is short enough to make getting close to (inevitably big) things a bad idea

Their ability to attack in unpredictable ways makes them a deadly foe to the vampyres
The purpose of this blog is to detail as much as possible prior to the poll going live in-game to allow for player feedback.Whilst there's a lot of detail to be found, we're purposefully not saying much about runescape 07 gold the how The Theatre of Blood and its surrounding areas will play out as we don't want to ruin the surprise!"The Theatre of Blood was created with one thing in mind, Lady Verzik's entertainment. She commanded her followers to create this challenge, in the hopes of watching many a willing citizen of Meiyerditch or travelling warrior perish" Do you have what it takes to defeat the Theatre of Blood? Are you the hero the Myreque need? Theatre of BloodTowards the east of Gielinor, located within the Sanguinesti region, is Ver Sinhaza. Once the home of Queen Efaritay, it is now ruled over by Verzik Vitur, head of the Vitur family and one of the few true-born vampyres on Gielinor. For millennia, Lady Verzik has commanded an army of vampyres whom she has wholesale fishing tackle suppliers not only used to do her biddings, but also provide her with on-demand entertainment.
It didn't take long before this became tiresome, and so she instructed her followers to create a gauntlet filled with some of the strongest warriors, creations, creatures and puzzles. This is what we call today the Theatre of Blood. The above WIP images detail some of the interior of the Theatre of Blood. When the vampyres still lived on their home world of Vampyrium, they were near enough the apex predator. However, there was one species that even the vampyres feared, the Yarasa.Like bats, these large flying predators are visually impaired. However, that does not make them any less dangerous, as they have heightened senses of smell and sound. Their ability to attack in unpredictable ways makes them a deadly foe to the vampyres for it renders their immunities useless. While the Yarasa are already a deadly foe, there is none more dangerous than their king, Xarpus. When the vampyres were united under the eight tribes, they hunted down and defeated most of the Yarasa, driving them to near extinction. However, they were unable to defeat Xarpus, with him surviving their hunts until they finally left Vampyrium many years later. It is unknown how they managed it, but eventually the vampyres brought Xarpus to Gielinor. They trapped him in the Theatre.
There, he now fights any who enter, desperate to escape and enact vengeance upon the vampyres.Xarpus is one of the many bosses to be found within the Theatre of Blood. The woes of 61 Archaeology
My options for practice are:
1) Sad times in the desert (though that at least leads to Trindine).
2) Frustrating bullshit times in the cult dungeon
or
3) Infuriating imperialist bullshit time out by the vampires
WHY CAN’T I HAVE MILDLY CONCERNING SCIENTIFIC BIRDS TIME???!!!!!
Reading Efaritay’s journal is making me so fucking mad you guys.

Hallow heart
The books and legends of Efaritay Hallow claim that she kneeled to the Drakans to save her husband Ascertes. But what if there’s more to it? (Decided to take a break from writing about my OCs to bend RuneScape’s canon. Contains blood, injuries, a meaningless title and Vanescula being Vanescula... I hope.) Misinformation. It was misinformation, Vanescula knew, that led the Drakans to believe that capturing a human and presenting him to the icyene queen of hallowvale would persuade her to surrender. But she didn’t. It was a pathetic mistake on her brother’s part, believing that holding hostage an icyene’s partner would have that much of an impact. But it was to be expected- Ranis was never the sharpest claw in the Drakan death-grasp. But Neither she nor Lowerniel trusted their overconfident, smug and illogical brother to efficiently fix the mistake he managed to make. Obviously, someone else would have to search the hallow palace, locate the queen, and force her to stand down, dead or alive. And so, Vanescula entered the palace.
At that very moment, the large mahogany doors across the entrance hall opened as well, and a sole winged figure dressed in blue stepped forward, her golden-orange wings flaring menacingly, her ice-blue eyes a contrast to the absolute waste of fabric that were the warmly colored flags and tapestries all over the walls. “What is it with vampyres and showing up uninvited?” Vanescula grinned, tilting her head to the side. “Well, that’s some hospitality! My, and I thought icyenes were kind and welcoming of strangers from distant lands!” “Of course,” the queen deadpanned, “But I’m afraid that destruction-land natives are excluded.”
Vanescula ignored the jab, clasping her hands together, concentrating some basic old magics into her claws and fingertips. “So what are you doing this fine hour? Enjoying the last minutes of your regime, your majesty?” the vampyre mockingly inquired, “I’m afraid you’ll have to hurry. I’m here to escort you outside.” “That won’t be necessary”, the other replied, “I did not plan a ceremony for passing my throne to any vampyric abomination lately.” “If that is the case, it’s a good thing I’m here to help you reconsider” the vyre offered sarcastically before lunging forward. Efaritay moved to the side, barely avoiding contact with blood-colored, smoke-oozing claws. She quickly clenched her hands, reopening them to reveal bright flames. Hurling the magical fire on the Drakan before her, she quietly scolded herself under her breath when the other gracefully maneuvered herself past half dozen fireballs. Her airborne opponent surprised her yet again with a swift kick to the solar plexus, throwing her off balance and sending her a few feet back from her attacker. Not wasting time, the vyre steadied herself in the air, concentrating and lifting both hands apart, high into the air. Efaritay’s arms momentarily lost sensation, and then a dull ache started spreading in random points throughout her arms, as did small lumps that were pushing against her skin. Blood magic? already? Typical vampyric decision.
The Icyene narrowed her eyes, quickly summoning a few yellow-striped wooden stakes and directed them at the other with her mind’s power alone, catching the semi-distracted vyre by surprise. Vanescula let out a small hiss, lowering her arms and removing two stakes that actually managed to wound her. An entertained expression crept onto her face and she laughed, the sound coming out as an unsteady, high pitched shriek. This was just too much fun. With a quickly forming red bubble in her palm, she continued the battle.
It didn’t take the fighting royals very long to turn the entrance hall into a mess- slippery blood stains, torn fabrics from the previously elegant rugs and tapestries and woodchips from the doors were all over the place, not to mention the marble chunks from the walls and floor. No matter where you’d step- you’d be bound to slip or trip over one of the spread out obstacles. The royals knew it too, since both were up in the air for a few minutes now, when Vanescula suddenly engulfed the room in total darkness. The powerful shadow magic has slipped past the broken doors, taking hold of other parts of the palace. Vanescula was about to dive down and break the confused icyene, when a quiet noise has caught her attention. Was that a sob?
It was definitely too quiet to have been produced by the icyene queen. In fact, the queen didn’t seem to have heard anything, as there were no involuntary movements towards or away from it. Now that the noise has caught the vampyre’s interest, she quietly glided down and out of the hall, following the faint sound of crying. She found herself a few rooms into the palace, her eyes more than well-adjusted to darkness, unlike the icyene who didn’t even bother following her yet. The vyre walked some more, then came to a halt when she saw a small creature sitting under a table in the corner of the room, looking around and sobbing. She approached the table and lowered herself to the creature’s eye level to get a better look. The little being- probably a toddler- looked almost too human to be anything else, but they had an aura about them, not unlike that of a certain icyene she just left behind a few rooms back. She reached a hand to pick the toddler, feeling a sphere around it, a resistance. Surprised, she withdrew her shadow powers, her surroundings immediately lighting up. The toddler jumped at the sudden change, the sphere seemed to dissipate for a few moments. Grabbing the toddler and standing up, it looked at her with wide icy-blue eyes. The toddler seemed confused and displeased. It blinked at her several times… …And then it began to wail. Vanescula flinched, then hissed at the noise. She was about to lower the toddler to the table, intending to study it from a safer distance for her already suffering ears- “Put. Him. Down.” -and the toddler’s wailing seems to have died down, the humanoid instead resorting to squirming and turning to the queen, mumbling what sounded like “mamamama”. So NOW the queen followed. It seems like those feathered fools were absolutely dysfunctional in the dark. The vampyre entertained the thought of bringing the darkness back, but was set off when the squirming toddler started making noises again. Vanescula did not need any damage to her hears, so she held the noisy thing at arm’s length. Judging by the look on her face, she might have also anticipated the kid to spit acid on her. “I won’t say that again, Drakan” the icyene was growing impatient. Her voice was on the verge of breaking, her heart pounding loudly enough for the vyre to hear. She probably sprinted into the room, but seemed to have grabbed a hold of a big crossbow, made from the same wood as the stakes, but with silver in it, too. Vanescula turned around, holding the kid in front of her, smirking. “What, this thing? You know, Hallow, I think I’ll hold on to it for a while. Don’t worry though, you can pick that off my hands when I’m done studying its magic. And its blood, of course.” “Don’t you DARE!” Despite her outburst, the icyene was clearly weighing her options. She even lowered her crossbow, but Vanescula was having none of that.
“Right. Maybe I’ll pass the little party favor to my brothers, then.” She said dryly, narrowing her eyes. “Drakan, wait!” “Yes, Hallow?” She clearly had a very important bargaining chip on her hands. Or rather, in her hands. She could smash that child in a moment, she knew. And it would seem like the other woman knew that as well. “Please don’t do this… they mustn’t know! They’ll kill him without second thought!” Now this was getting way too entertaining. “And why should I care? That’s not my problem now, is it?” The icyene took a deep breath, her autumn-colored wings (which were flared above her until this moment as a cheap intimidation technique no doubt) were coming down, folding behind her back. “I surrender.” This caught Vanescula by surprise. “I will publicly pass my crown to you or any of your brothers, if that’s what it takes.” The queen quickly added. “Please, they mustn’t know. I sent for my loyalists, he was to be taken away… Maybe the messengers were attacked…” she started. Vanescula considered this, readjusting her grip on the toddler when it was showing intention to whine again. “I can have you bowing down regardless of the kid’s… heartbeat status” she threatened. “I know. But please, please spare him. You’ll have me at your behest for as long as I live. Information, blood… anything. Just… Just don’t hurt him.” Vanescula looked skeptical, but set the toddler on the table anyway, looking at it to make sure it doesn’t fall over, then cast a teleblocking spell on the icyene queen. Sure, more strategic advantage would be nice. And sure, it was entertaining to watch someone else so terrified, that they’d stutter and beg and do anything. And then again, icyene blood was not easy to come across. Nor were icyenes who could be emotionally controlled without having any say in the matter. And judging by the toddler’s fussy behavior and lack of wings, it was nowhere near pure icyene. Oh well… She turned to the other female, crossing her arms. “For your information, one wrong move and I will still blast this chamber. And no amount of icyene magic will save your offspring. I’m watching you, send it away.” Vanescula watched as the icyene queen focused on a contact spell, followed by a teleportation for the kid. She took that time to blast the blisterwood crossbow that lay on the floor, shattering it.
When her brothers and some of the other vyres who led the charge entered the palace, they found Vanescula standing upright, a few feet from a seemingly emotionless, half sitting-half petrified Efaritay Hallow. “Icyene blood, anyone?”
