Little context: I recently (in November) started reading the throne of glass series and I’m currently reading Queen of Shadows buuuut— had to go out of town and I decided to leave the book at home because I can’t read this in public because I have a lot of reactions

Anyway- two days into my trip and I have this dream about Aelin 😭😭😭 no idea where this came from but my girl was kicking ass and fighting this huge ass monster thingy and I loved every second of it.

this is just a totally random opinion but i needed someone to hear

honestly, argue with me if you agree because id love to hear- but i never liked kaede. i feel like people just throw her into the main cast because they dont like any of the other girls in v3. she was never really a main character to me, she didnt go through any of the things that made main characters interesting- just sort or a martyrdome. we never really saw her flaws, even when she ended up as a blackened- she was in the right. idk, feels sort of... too pure and uninteresting for me.

i absolutly would love to be disagreed with though. i personally am a huge fan of the v3 girls but i never really understood the fixation on kaede.

imma be real king, i am not the person to go to for this because i am aggressively indifferent to her. probably the most neutral i've ever felt towards a character, she sure does exist.

i don't use her that often when i write cause she sticks out so little to me that often times i forget she's an option. like- i have a chat fic and i keep meaning to use her more in it cause logically it'd make sense for her as a character to regularly check in with the chat, but i just keep forgetting to implement her

personally i have no beef with her, and i can see why a positive preppy go getter girl can be appealing to others, but she doesn't really stick out to me that much.

Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.

Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!

AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).

Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.

All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.

You know. I have Thoughts now about Olric.

I originally wanted him added as a romance option (as do many others) and I think I changed my mind! I love him and he's amazing and supportive and he likes rocks but what I think so far that I really super love for him? Is how friendly he is and so far (I'm not far) he has zero romance related lines. Like he's not a romance option, but looking at the other NPCs (the innkeeper/wife, the general store owner/wife, the retired socialite who talks about past flings) I think Olric stands out as possibly the only one I can hope for aroace representation.

Let this guy just exist with the most positive vibes ever because he's just a good guy with positive vibes for everyone.

"Arya wouldn't have been able to survive in KL" is really one of the dumbest fanon takes where you can tell someone only believes it because they like the idea of Arya and Sansa being "exact opposites and perfect complements" (even though it goes against the books). Actual evidence from the books to back it up? Never anywhere to be found despite how confidently people make this claim.

And not only does it severely mischaracterize Arya and ignore what she's been through, it also ignores her importance as a political hostage. The Lannisters weren't searching for her, and lying about having her, for no reason. They needed her because having only one Stark after executing Ned put them in a poor position to negotiate. So Arya would have been more than capable of handling herself (thoroughly shown in her Harrenhal chapters) and the Lannisters would've done everything in their power to keep her alive but, somehow, she wouldn't have been able to survive? It's truly one of those takes that falls apart if you think about it for more than two seconds but apparently, that's too much effort for some people.
