Myth Debugging:

Since Meta has finally spilled the beans about selling users information recently, I think it's high time debugging some myths that are established among Tumblr users:

1. Tumblr doesn't have any algorithm like Instagram!

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. As a certified computer engineer, I can assure you, every program has an algorithm. How do you think Tumblr suggest things for you? Algorithm means process of solving problem step by step. Don't mix it up with artificial intelligence!

2. It's hard to scrape image from Instagram but it's easy on Tumblr!

Hehehe! Do you think they download each image individually by tapping on the download button like common users? No ma'am! They use various different scripts to scrape bulk data from websites. (ibisPaint X has launched a new feature that adds noise to the artwork to protect it from being used to train AI model but you have to be a premium user to use it)

3. Duolingo is bad because it uses AI!

Guys, come on! AI itself is not bad, it depends on how people use it. Applications like Duolingo have to use machine learning to process huge amounts of data, for pattern recognition in different languages, it's impossible to do it manually. How do you think google translate works?

And Meta has actually been doing this (selling information) for a long time, it's not new at all. Which is why I stopped posting on Instagram a long time ago.

Listen, filling my feed with AI artworks is pissing me off too. I hate it when someone posts AI artworks without mentioning that it's actually AI; it's annoying. And I'm not a fan of AI generated art, (they look disgusting, dumb, and similar in my opinion), but it's not good swearing on social media as well. I know how artists feel about it since I'm an artist too. Again when someone makes a simple game with a drag and drop tool and claims it as 'programming', if offends real programmers too. Trust me, true programming requires not 'hours of works' but 'years of works'. I didn't mean to be rude or mean towards anyone. I just want everyone to know the truth. That's it. Thank you!

I noticed that Tumblr changed something about the bar above the dash and:

And WTF IS THAT, and why can't I turn it off??? I have never heard of that in the first place, so why is it forced onto my dash??? Good thing is: I never use these tabs anyway, but would still appreciate if I could turn off the two that I DEFINITELY never use...
