My roommate is playing Dragon Quest Builders 2. She is on the Isle of Awakening and she decorating her home, and it's dark out. So of course, Sekerleton and Spirits spawn during this time. She opens the doors to her house and there is a Sekerleton right outside. So she closes the door really quick, but not quick enough because the Sekerleton entered her house. So her house was HAUNTED for a bit until she destroyed it. I'm still laughing.

I'm going to apologise right now, I'm on a Dragon Quest Builders 2 kick atm. You will be seeing a lot of Malroth/Builder stuff simply because Builder (no matter their gender) and Malroth are perfect together.

hi i saw your response for my dqb2 ask! i agree with p much everything you said, i didnt even know you had a limit to 100 structures (not that im a very motivated person anyway lmao) so that kind of sucks. but its as you said, its still super fun!
i also JUST FINISHED THE GAME TODAY!!!! the ending was so tooth-achingly sweet i was smiling the entire time. so happy that malroth and the builder's journey continues in such an endearing way..... 1000/10 eagerly waiting for a sequel!!! did you like the ending?
Yeah part of me is like. id never make one of those huge sprawling cities with over a thousand rooms anyway but it still sucks!
YEESS it's so good!! I really liked the ending! Well, as tropey as the whole story is I really am a sucker for the relationship tropes between the builder and malroth (in either gender btw!! bi king.... not to only be into something for ships but it becomes so much more important to me if considered more than jst platonic wargh) and the whole. Desctruction and Creation need each other!!!! thing is like wahhh you got meeee 😭😭♥♥♥ this is a mild vague spoiler but the fact that Builder is that "his smile and optimism: gone" meme until they see malroth again in that last section. Good Lird. Yes, I liked the ending a lot!!

SUMMARY: Walking lessons. Alef shares a treasured memory. Gwaelin shares a secret. A decision is made. Now with more DQ Builders AU!
"When I was eight years old, I caught a pox and nearly died." Gwaelin gasped, but whether she was horrified by what had happened to Alef or his nonchalant tone about it, she couldn't say. He continued, "I lay abed for two months. Two long, long months. When finally I recovered and set foot outside my bed—well." He nodded to her bare toes, stretched out before them. "Walking went about the same for me, too. But with more tears."
Gwaelin found it difficult to think of the mountain next to her as anything but the peak of fitness. "But thou art so—so—"
His mouth quirked. "Heroic?"
"Muscular."
Alef laughed. He had a lovely laugh, Gwaelin thought. She'd like to hear more of it. "Not back then, I was not. Back then, I was weak and tiny, made moreso after lying motionless for months. Hardly any time at all could I stand without pain. I had to teach my legs how to walk once more, and it was hard. Very hard. Many were the times I wished to give up."
"Wherefore did you not?"
Alef smiled softly, recalling some distant memory. "My mother."
"Did she encourage thee?"
"In her way." His smile never faltered. "She reminded me, repeatedly, that the blood of the Erdrick runneth through my veins, and heroes did not give up."
Alef's tone was fond, but there was something about the anecdote that struck Gwaelin, something concerning that she couldn't quite put her finger on. It had to do with the idea of a young, afflicted son feeling compelled by his parents by an accident of birth, something he had no control over. As Erdrick's heir, the pressure under which Alef had grown up must have been tremendous. She wondered if he'd ever felt he had any choices in his life at all.
Choice was not something that came readily to a princess, either. Oh, she had the choice of which dress to wear to a banquet, perhaps; or which foods to eat off each plate. But not the choice of which dignitaries to sit next to, or whom to take as dance partners, or whom to flirt with or ignore. All that had been decided by her father and the chancellor, in service of trade deals and alliances. By the fate of her birth alone, even her dinner conversations had been written for Gwaelin before she had learned to speak.
"Such a heavy burden birthrights can be sometimes," she mused.
Alef smiled that soft, shy smile at her, like sunlight peeking through the clouds, and Gwaelin's heart tugged again.

I had started a playthrough of Dragon Quest Builders 2 and during this scene, I was pushed off my farming tower. Just silly, I guess.

if they announce dqb3 i will shit your pants
i would kill for another dragon quest builders but the lead director left square enix a bit after DQB2 was released in the west so i wonder if it'll take a bit before we get a new one or if we ever will... it's popular enough to warrant another game i think but i wonder if it'd be the same with a new director

Thoughts on the Stream
- DQ Eraser: Looks cute and I like the eraser idea. Not too fond of mobile games though, mainly due to the sheer amount of adds and microtransactions. But if you are into those types of puzzle games then it is exciting.
-DQ X Online: This was mean. I get that this section is focused on console games and not just for worldwide audiences, but still.
-DQ X Offline: Hopefully this is the version that will be released worldwide. It looks cute, but is also more in style with the spinoff games, which is weird. Speaking of spinoffs, the developer of this game is the one who makes the Builders series. I hope once X Offline has been released, we'll get news of DQB3.
-DQ III HD-2D Remake: This look gorgeous! I just finished 3 about two days before the stream, but I would get this version as well. Especially if they remade 1 and 2. I hope they add stuff back to it, since it wouldn't make a lot of sense to go through all this effort for something that is not as long as later titles.
-DQ Treasure: This new spinoff looks interesting. It makes more sense to have Erik and Mia be treasure hunters and not monster tamers. Has potential and I look forward to seeing more.
-DQXII Flames of Fate: It's nice that we got the logo and title, but I was hoping for a little more. Since it started out as XI before the extra I, I think this is going to take place in the same land as XI. Maybe its a time split from XI.
-I think this was a bit of a teaser for E3 honestly. I believe we're gonna see more from SE during the event itself, especially if the rumored "Switch Pro" is true. That would also explain why there was hesitancy to state what consoles the games would be coming out on.
-I also think that the DQ team is starting to take its worldwide audience more into consideration. Looking at past timelines, the games would come out in Japan and then a year later elsewhere. It's a really encouraging sign to see the team aiming for simultaneous worldwide releases.
