There is a doula for every price range; some doulas take payment plans & some work with charities to provide services. If having support throughout your pregnancy and labor is important to you, you can find a way to make it work. Reach out to your local doulas & find one who can work with your financial situation. Happy New Year! When's the best time to line-up your favorite doula for your birth? The same day you get a positive result! In 2016, I'm only accepting a certain number of clients so that I have time to dedicate to furthering my education. This is me today. Turns out all those dreams about laboring friends calling me at 3am were a bit premonitory as that's when my wonderful client called me yesterday. I fell asleep before 9 last night & will indulge in a bit of self care today. Even when births are beautiful & short, they're intense for all who are present. I'm thankful for this calling & the amazing families that choose me to support them. #DoulaJen

My wish list is more like a "to save for" list: a fence for goats (and goats, of course), a dishwasher (9 people in one house with no dishwasher isn't fun), & my #BirthArtsInternational intensive. I've (semi)joked with clients that whatever money isn't reinvested in my #DoulaJen business will be put towards my dream of a mini farm.

I'm certifying with Birth Arts International. There are many reasons I chose this organization after considering several others.
