Concept sketch of my new JJBA self insert and her stand, BellaDonna (who will eventually be known as Madonna). Inspired by the song 'Like a Prayer' by...well, Madonna! @sapphire-heart-tippy

My self insert (who will also go by Jane) grew up in a deeply religious family and tried to be a good jehovah's witness child that made her parents proud.

One day, she comes up with the power to heal various injuries and ailments, almost to the point of being able to revive the dead. She figures she's given this power by the lord himself and vows to do good with it, but when she's found using them to heal a bird that had been wounded by a cat, her mother falls into hysterics thinking that she MUST be possessed by the devil to have such abilities.

She's punished and shunned by her community while her mother prays for a cure and though she tries to repent her power doesn't seem to go away, so eventually her mother snaps and drags her into the wilderness and attempts to throw her to the bottom of an old well.

Her Stand, which had previously not manifested physically, appears then to cushion her fall and eventually she manages to pull herself out of the well with her Stand's help, who she now believes to be a guardian angel. But not wanting to return home, she runs away to face the world alone, growing jaded and bitter over time. She loses all of her faith, and the power to heal inverts itself, becoming a sort of poison. Something that LEECHES life, rather than heal it.

When she's an adult (my age irl so 25 I guess) she's made her way by becomes a bounty hunter/assassin using her Stand and eventually catches the attention of Dio. Who takes her in and explains to her what her Stand REALLY is, promising to teach her how to properly wield those powers if she agrees to serve him. She reluctantly takes his offer, but starts to see him as a familial figure, since no one else had ever tried to nurture or even accept her gift. Dio is the one who giver her Stand the name BellaDonna, after the deadly plant!

I wanted to draw Narinder with longer hair but it devolved.

So how about a little bit of rambling, then? A lot of this is just canon divergent stuff I think? So if you're not into that, this isn't for you.

HUGE CW: lots of sensitive topics such as slavery, family death, cannibalism, etc. Please read at your own risk and take care of yourself.

Narinder found Leshy and the two traveled together around the Valley together. Eventually they ran into Heket who joined them.

A few key points (not in chronological order):

Narinder has been travelling alone since he was a child, after having to kill his mother.

Narinder is the first to have extra eyes, having had them since he was a child due to being blessed by the at-the-time God of Death. He used his hair to hide this third eye, fearing that it would make him stick out as a beast to either be killed or exploited.

Leshy calls Heket and Narinder his siblings but also does consider them to be parental figures to him, since they both helped raise him after his family was eaten.

Heket was originally a slave who was made to fight. She obtained the talisman she wore from the Fox, after luring her owner to him to be eaten.

Narinder saved Leshy from being eaten alongside his family, and since then Leshy has always clung to Narinder for guidance and protection. Narinder taught Leshy everything he knew about living life as a mortal. (Shamura taught them everything they knew about life as a god.)

Heket is not from the Valley, but Narinder and Leshy are.

The Valley is considered a pretty dangerous place, filled with cannibals and slavers. It's left a mark on the three of them.

Narinder and Leshy will occasionally stick their faces in other's when meeting them; they WILL not pull away until the other backs down. To them, it's just social etiquette they learned from cannibals.

The three of them often won't eat meat they haven't personally hunted themselves, unless it's from the Lamb. It was a general rule from the Valley that if you didn't personally see the meat come from an animal, it more than likely came from a person.

Heket and Leshy both feel the need to do a head count and make sure all 3 of them are still around. They won't admit it most of the time, but they still find themselves a little fucked up from Narinder being snatched by slavers.

Narinder is obsessed with collecting wood because of his mother, and cannot for the life of him mine stone because of his time in chains before the crown. The sight of a pickaxe makes him as sick as the sound of chains does. (a lot.) The lamb takes Narinder's fear of mines seriously, but only knows bits and pieces about what happened. Nogrejul knows about the trigger but not why. They enjoy tormenting him with it and it's specifically why they requested to be a miner.

(Unrelated to the valley but still notable)Heket and Leshy are the only ones allowed to skip out on fight pit rituals; the lamb is fully aware of Heket's past and allows Leshy to keep her company. (They are maybe a little softer than they'd like to admit. They will murder anyone who brings this up to them.)

Leshy loves to burrow since it was how he "safely" travelled on his own in the valley(you're never fully safe in the valley), but thanks to the long history of constant construction on cult grounds, there's often different dangers, such as old nails, in the ground. Leshy is often injured while burrowing because of this and spends way more time in the med bay than he'll admit.

Leshy loves to cook, but too many meat dishes at once sends him into a panic, because of this, Leshy often has a partner he cooks with that'll cook the meat dishes after he's done with the others so he doesn't have to smell it.

i swear literally every time i even mention that i dislike something, people will go "wow does that mean u fucking hate me cuz i post that thing? ur a fucking stupid bitch and all ur opinions r wrong" LIKE ?? er.. no. just because i say i dont like certain characterizations of certain characters (the saiki k fandom is CRAZY about this cuz i can state an opinion on literally any character and a group of people will still go 'well only we're allowed to post our opinions about them because we're always right!1!1!'), or certain ship tropes (mentioned my hatred of toxic yaoi maybe once or twice on here months ago and people STILL get mad at me as if i said toxic yaoi lovers r evil or something), or certain ships, or WHATEVER, does not mean that i HATE the people who are posting them or that i think they shouldnt post them at all, NO, im just posting about my personal tastes on my personal blog and it would be extremely weird and hypocritical if i decided that i was the ONLY person that was allowed to do that,,

i think the only reason people assume that is because there are a lot of other people on here who ARE like that, and a lot of people toe the line between posting that they dont like something and posting that they think everyone who likes that thing is stupid, annoying, and wrong,, so i guess all i can say is, sorry for whatever made you make these assumptions but they arent true about me so plz leave me alone ʘ‿ʘ ur doing the same thing to me that ur accusing me of but i didnt do it in the first place so ur just actively being a dick for no reason

hi there!! its me, linh. and i have an update to give.

it probably surprises no one, but i think its time for me to officially announce that its the end of my time here on tumblr. trust me when i say that i say this with a heavy heart. over the past few months i just realised that ive just kinda outgrown (that sounds so weird to say) writing, tumblr and even kpop in a way.

regarding love to hate you, im so deeply sorry that this how the series is coming to an end, or well... its not. but i really havent felt the desire to touch it at all. or anything for that matter. i will hold that series near and dear to my heart and forever cherish it for how much fun i had creating it. im sorry for leaving it on such a note but i hope you guys can understand and still appreciate the chapters i offered to you guys.

i will keep the blog up, so you guys can go back and read their silly little story again and again. (for those who really really need to know if they make it or not, i will put it in the tags)

and for those few who care, ive been doing really good! im really happier than ever but busier than ever too (uni has been kicking my ass). still, these past few months have been so fun for me and i hope the same applies to you all!!

if you guys want to, you can send me messages because i will still log on every now and then to check up on things. because even though tumblr isnt really a part of my daily routine anymore, i did gain a lot of love for it over the past few years. and hell if the writing itch catches me again, maybe i will post something. its a big maaaybe and right now it looks pretty unrealistic given how busy i am, but never say never i guess

ayin. i'm curious

one question in and im already having to pull up the cutscene dialogue. god. ok listen this is the most bullyable man in the whole entire world and he makes it so easy, but also I Do Fucking Love This Guy. i need to study him so bad its unreal.

im always a sucker for characters introduced as a "yeah theyre totally a player stand-in dont worry about it ^_^" and then they kick you in the fucking shins halfway through. and he is no exception. i am Notoriously endeared by characters with any amount of weird identity fuckery going on and Jesus Fucking Christ Dude.

the way that he is so solidly rooted in the core of everything that goes down in lobcorp, and yet how certain bits of his attitude and Personality are Wholly lost. how most of what we know of him is through secondhand accounts and recollections, and yet he refuses to let on anything about himself in his own memory of things. his perception revolves entirely around the people around him to a very, Very stark degree. im not sure if its just a side effect of the genre and execution of this story in particular or if im just making shit up, but.

hes not a loud character. something about that in tangent with how he completely splinters himself over and over in conjunction with the things that happened to them, its all very compelling. the way he tackles problems with this sort of analytical distance, unaware of or perhaps intentionally separating his own mess from what he feels he has to do-- while at the same time having it be so inextricably intertwined with Everything. he feels like the type of character to desperately want to simply point a direction and shoot, yet he gets in his own way time and time again, simultaneously on accident And on purpose. avoidant of And conscious of.

ill be real im just kind of spitballing the vague Idea of him in hopes of reaching something concrete. he's so intent on the straightforward "any means necessary," yet he sabotages himself every step of the way. its fascinating. such a strange form of self-destruction.

i wonder how he really feels about everything. how he felt, and then, what exactly it is that changed in him after the SoL project "completion". what exactly did he come to terms with through the course of ruina? was it something new he hadn't the room to process until then, or was it simply an understanding that he'd had for longer than that, that he'd simply never had the mind to voice it?

and then! the way he feels about the rest of the team-- how little he seems to speak of any particular bond between himself and them, and yet (iirc) he has photos of them all up in his office. how much of him is means to an end, and how much is compartmentalization of what he might actually feel? which does he want to be true?

does that cohere? he's such a messy tangle of things that never get spoken-- on purpose and otherwise-- that it makes him so difficult to Actually Read, and yet... and yet! what im saying is that benjamin saw something in him, and that is something worth studying-- not because of doubt, but because of a desire to truly Understand. something about the metaphor between Sun and Shadow, seeing things in the gaps burned between photos. fascinating specimen. i need to put him into a blender.

also hes one of the few characters capable of making me lose it just by seeing his basic png which has to count for something i guess
