THE HIDDEN CITY OF SEATLE, and the destruction of its NIRVANA

Washington State has always been a mystery to me. In my imagination, it was something so foreign as someone lost in the forest before freezing to death. It conjured up in my psychic absurdity. It was how I felt about the place in my teenage years in Canada. But Seattle was only a name in a State with lots of crazy gringos running around with no distinct character I could sum up, like a faceless person you only heard about.

Marcus Sakey somehow grounded out a spark. However, it was a TV detective series, THE KILLING, that gave me a sense of Seattle. It was an excellent series, sometimes a little bit dragged out, but good and tense which kept you wondering all the time with an unsuspecting denouement. Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994) was an American musician who was the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene that later became known as grunge. After signing with DGC Records, Nirvana found commercial success with the single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their critically acclaimed second album Nevermind (1991). Although Cobain was hailed as the voice of his generation following Nirvana's sudden success, he resented this, believing his message and artistic vision had been misinterpreted by the public. During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with a heroin addiction and chronic health problems such as depression. He also struggled with the personal and professional pressures of fame, and he had a tumultuous relationship with his wife, fellow musician Courtney Love. In March 1994, Cobain overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol, and he subsequently entered an intervention and underwent a detox program. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home at the age of 27; police concluded he had died on April 5 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

"HOARDING IDEAS." a poem  October 3, 2019 (Thor's Day)

 There are NO REALMS; there's NO Heaven, but let's not pout,

Even though Nirvana's dissolved, and Valhalla's on its way out.

Let's go visit NEVERNEVERLAND and/or go sit on The Moon,

Talking with The Cheese Man; it's good to be with him. (We'll be there soon.)

 IF we took all the children that believe in LIFE AFTER DEATH,

And gave them sufficient doses of   L. S. D.  or  meth,

Perhaps THAT WOULD BE A SUFFICIENT START?

However, that would take care of us ALL, for the human likes to depart,

And go to some place ELSE     ANY PLACE AT ALL,

Just to avoid the situation (s)he's devised (which has failed) to give us A BALL.

The thing is:  We do a lousy job, coming up with PLACES to go to AFTER WE DIE;

We think that  (our devised)   NICE PLACES AFTER DEATH  explain WHY,

We are suffering now   and are so miserable in The Nation,

So we devise the next GetAway      OUR DREAM VACATION,

And, whenwe return     to our miserable little existence,

We're tired and confused, and STILL HAVE GREAT INSISTENCE,

That HEAVEN will be PERFECT, even though we've NO idea how,

Anything could be perfect,    for WE CAN'T FIND HAPPINESS IN THE NOW:

(1) These places DON'T EXIST, although we talk about them every week;

(2) So there's NO ONE THERE.  You'd think we'd get tired always seeking to seek,

For A BETTER PLACE, where (finally)  HAPPINESS WE'LL FIND.

(3) Ain't gonna happen, Sports Fans, and, so, Little Virginia just whined,

Saying: "But I want Santa    to bring me presents and stuff,"

AND (you know) Little Virginia CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH,

Of what      it is            she THINKS she's looking for,

But   let's all be sure:   SANTA'S COMIN' THROUGH THAT VERY DOOR,

Or down the chimney, even though it's been blocked up forever,

And Jesus will in THE NEXT I CLOUD, in The Land of NeverNever.

YOU KNOW,  There's NO LIFE AFTER DEATH for us Honey;  

There's no death; DEATH'S A MYTH; it's even money,

That whatever THAT THING (death) is, IT'S LIKE FALLING ASLEEP,

And we can continue LIFE   in another state   that is equally deep

Ravin'  about   The Glories of Heaven, truth and justice   and acquisitions,

Solidarity and Congressional Holidays   and Divinely inspired missions.

Geez, suffering's part of Life?  Sorry; too bad; let's all weep on That ICloud,

And "hoard" ideas within our minds.  Come on, for crying out loud,

Our MINDS ARE SO CROWDED   with all this funky imagination,

That our insanity is totally obscured, as we plan our next, GREAT vacation.

Donald was never in charge of the girls' clothes again.

May being a Halloween (1978) fan, and June being a pro-wrestling fan are two headcanons of mine. As I mentioned before here.

Remember when I mentioned my friend J? I was showing him that's canon that Donald is a Nirvana fan.

And he just went crazy for young Donald. He loved everything about him. But really, it isn't a surprise. Young Donald is a master of been cute and cool at the same time (just like Webby).

Just like Donald, I'm a big Nirvana fan.

Tonight, I was able to enjoy the english band Nirvana Tribute (they spent days thinking on a name). The concert was billed as the closest you'd get to hearing Nirvana live, and they certainly weren't exaggerating. The energy I felt at the concert was intoxicating, one of the best I have ever attended.

They played everything you'd expect, About a Girl, In Bloom, Breed, Come as You Are, Love Buzz, Heart-Shaped Box, Lithium, Smells Like Teen Spirit and more. Absolutely amazing.

And to close an awesome night, the drummer threw his drumstick, guess who caught it.

This was one night to remember.
