This is my opinion on why I believe the GA doesn’t see Byler.

Before I begin, I just want to say I’ve been a Byler fan since Season 1. Season 2 cemented my feelings about them. Season 3 crushed my soul. And season 4 at first watch made me feel pessimistic but eventually optimistic. As a gay boy myself I can’t help but see the whole show through Will eyes (he is me) and can’t help but fall in love with Mike. I mean he did so much for Will in the beginning, how could you not love Mike for that.

The relationship between the boys really does take a turn for the worse coming off S2 into S3 because Mikes character kind of does a 180 in terms of Bylers relationship.

Anyway. Talking about S4, we see A LOT of the CA plot line from Wills perspective. And I think this is key to people not seeing Byler. Wills feelings are made very clear. He’s depressed, traumatized, he doesn’t fit in, he is well aware of his homosexuality which brings stress and suffering and the tremendous disappointment that he has in Mikes character, yet he can’t help but love regardless. With that said, Wills POV is bleak, and coming off the back of S3 it’s easier and, I would say necessary, for his character to believe that Mike doesn’t love him. The pain of letting yourself believe they do love you only to be rejected, is very hurtful. And I don’t think that boy can handle more pain so it’s safer for him to deny the hope. Will even says “I’m not going to fall in love.”

Mikes actions also play into this. Will does not see Mikes love for him. He can’t hug him, is dismissive, he argues and blames Will at Rink O Mania, he wrote to El but didn’t seam to call Will, makes the whole trip about El, isn’t attentive to Will at all, and even when Mike apologizes for obsessing over El- every one of their conversations is still about her. Again this is Wills POV. I will say Mike does give him hints and mix messages for romantics feelings but like I said, how is Will suppose to trust? Is Will just reading into the flirting because he wants it so badly? It needs to be direct otherwise Will and the GA won’t see it or believe it.

Obviously there are a lot of hints for Byler, and I believe 100% it will happen. I’m choosing to trust the hope even though Will isn’t able to.

My point is I think Wills painful POV cannot be underestimated even if straight viewers dont like Will you can’t deny how powerful it is. Will literally helped Mike say I love you to El because he doesn’t have hope for himself. I think straight viewers use his hopeless as evidence for why Mike and El will end up together. It’s interesting that you hate Will but Will plays a role in convincing you of Milevens endgame. What they don’t understand, other than all the Byler evidence, is that Will is wrong! Mike does have romantic feelings for him and Mike will get there! Because Mike doesn’t need to find himself he needs to return to the person he’s always been. He showed us who he is and it’s the person he was in S1 & S2 and we see it when he’s with Will!

things i desperately want for persona 6

- Femc

I know this is not an unpopular opinion, but I don’t even need a full femc route. It would be nice, but I think it would probably take up too much budget. All I want is a girl model of the protagonist that you can choose and some pronoun changes. It would be so easy to do, I’m begging for this

- Let people be gay

If they are doing a femc route like that, there will probably be romance options for male social links, so just keep that for the boy protagonist route. You literally don’t have to change anything except maybe a few voice lines, but you could also have the VA’s only use gender neutral pronouns. Just let you date every social link (as long as they aren’t like your dad or teacher or something) regardless of their gender.

- Keep the rewind feature from Reload

This is self explanatory, it’s maybe the single best quality of life feature in any Persona game, I NEED it for P6.

- Keep the palace system for the dungeons

The order of Persona games was me playing P5R, then P4G, then P3R. Going from P5’s palaces to the mediocre dungeons in P4 was super jarring. Tartarus in P3R is definitely an improvement, and I might even like it more than Mementos, but palaces are by far the best addition to the Persona series ever. Having unique levels for each arc was a stroke of genius, and if they don’t carry it over to P6 it will almost certainly be underwhelming compared to P5. I do like the randomly generated dungeons, but I think they work best as accompaniment to palaces. Something like Mementos would be great for P6 in accompaniment to Palaces.

- Have a better spawning method for The Reaper

I like to farm The Reaper a lot, and especially in P4, it was TORTURE. Having to open 21 chests and then requiring the 22nd to randomly spawn an enemy just to fight The Reaper was awful. Even the time based ones in P5 and P3 are not perfect. Literally just anything but the tedium of P4. Requiring RNG was awful, you could spend 20 minutes opening chests just to not get an enemy chest on the 22nd and have to restart.

- Have a post game

Sometimes I want to play Persona but I don’t want to have to start a 100 hour new playthrough. Persona genuinely has a great combat system, and I would love to be able to explore Mementos or rematch bosses after beating the game. Maybe bring back the Thieves Den (or something similar) but allow you to re-enter palaces and Mementos after getting the true ending. Something like being able to rematch bosses in the Mushroom Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey. Maybe also bring the album thing on the couch in Persona 4 back. If you don’t remember, if you went to sit on your reading couch, you could view all of your maxed social links and replay each rank. You could even go to the social links you didn’t romance and see what their romance path was like, or vice versa. It was super cool!

- Keep confidant perks

Having the ranks of non-party member social links grant perks is one of my favorite additions to P5. It can really help incentivize you to prioritize them and go for all max social links. I think the main flaw with Persona 5 was that Atlus underestimates how powerful the perks would be. That’s why the game was so easy, not because of the gameplay, but because Atlus couldn’t balance some players having unlocked broken confidant perks and others having not. It would be difficult, but they need to be able to balance the perks more. Definitely keep them, but don’t let people just blitz through palaces if they have Ryuji’s confidant at rank 7.

- Bring over a rebalanced version of Ryuji’s instakill

Speaking of Ryuji’s rank 7 confidant ability, I want it to come back. It is by far the most broken ability in P5, but it also made grinding SO much more bearable. That said, it needs a rebalance. Make it so it doesn’t work in palaces, only P6’s version of mementos. Make it much harder to get than rank 7, maybe a late game social link’s rank 10 ability. It would still be a broken ability, but it is an ingenious solution to fixing tedious late game grinding. More games should have versions of this ability.

- Keep the completionist difficulty of P5R

I think Persona 5 Royal has the best balance in terms of how difficult it should be to max out all of your social links on a first playthrough. I got all achievements on my first playthrough, but not 100% on social links. I was rank 5 in Strength and rank 9 in Lovers. It was very close, but it had just the right amount of generosity. I think if someone tries hard, they should be able to 100% it on a first playthrough.

- Make it so hanging out with Velvet Room attendants doesn’t take up time

Unless it’s a social link like Marie, I think having it take up time just prevents people from actually doing it. With how valuable time is in Persona, wasting time slots on hanging out with a non-social link character isn’t super viable. In P5R, I almost never hung out with The Twins because it took up a time slot when it didn’t need to. In P3R, I always hang out with Elizabeth because you don’t need to take up a precious time slot to do it. Please keep this!!

- Keep the story based character progression

In P5, most of the character progression happens through confidants. Obviously confidants should have character progression, but it also means that without doing those confidants, the characters are super stagnant. In P3R, almost all of the characters develop over the course of the game without requiring you to do their social link. Junpei develops a bond with Chidori, Yukari has personal drama with Mitsuru, etc. In P5, the only time this happened was Morgana leaving the Phantom Thieves, which is by far the worst part of the game. If they can write the story to be more similar to P3, I think it would be an improvement.

- Battle mechanics

I think Theurgy (or something similar) should be brought over to Persona 6. Theurgy in Reload was very unbalanced, being able to charge Theurgy's before big battles and end it in 1 turn was way too broken. I think Theurgy's should only be able to be charged and used in the span of one battle. You wouldn't be able to pre-charge your Theurgy and Armageddon all the bosses away, as all of your charge would go away after finishing a battle. This way it can only really be used if the battle goes on for a while, making it feel more like an ultimate attack and less like a win condition.

I also want Baton Passes and Technicals to be brought over as well. It can have different names and slightly different functions, but I think they are great mechanics, they just need some balance. Baton Passes and Technicals are also super broken in P5R, especially with merciless difficulty making them do 1.5x damage. Baton Passes were absolutely overpowered. I think this might be a pretty severe nerf, but I think the best solution might be limiting Baton Passes to only work once in a row. Having Baton Pass chains where you hit a weakness, Baton Pass to an ally to hit another weakness, and keep chaining it to shred every battle was unreasonable.

- Have a good challenge difficulty

Persona games (Mostly P5R and P3R) are far too easy. I actually like having the option to make them easy, safe difficulty is a genuinely good addition to the game, however merciless leaves a lot to be desired. I think P4G's option to freely change difficulty settings was pretty perfect, but even then I think having an even more challenging difficulty would be nice for veterans. Give the option to have a TRUELY merciless difficulty, something like Terraria's for the worthy seed, or CHIMPS difficulty in Bloons TD6. I always view those modes as some of the best challenge difficulties in gaming history. They have a perfect amount of challenge for veterans, and having something of similar difficulty in P6 would be amazing. I’m thinking like super boss level difficulty for every boss fight, obviously scaled to the player level though. I want to have to prepare in advance instead of just grinding slightly and shredding every boss.

- STOP ADDING FUCKING PEDOPHILES TO THESE GAMES

The tempo suddenly increases. An outburst of cheer suddenly comes from a second group of people moving towards the center to join. He folded immediately. Some battles you don’t win. Nilou wasn’t particularly familiar with what must’ve been taught in the school, but that didn’t matter. Music was her life and following the beat was her job. The dancer not only had the most control, but was admittedly a bit of a show off. Each beat was in synch with the isolated movement she gave her left hip, using it to guide the rest of her actions as she focused on Aether. He could see Lisa trying not to giggle at him as he did tamer, yet joyful movements. It’s not that he was bad, Aether just knew he was out his depth. Still, Nilou was more than happy to share this moment with him and everyone else.

i recently reread pour your heart out by hrrytomlinson and i’m honestly glad i didn’t remember anything from the first time i read it. if i can recall correctly, it’s been close to 2-3 years since i last read it and it felt like brand new. i came to the realization that so many people underestimate how incredible fics can be, especially fics written in this fandom. i love reading, and i’ve just been hooked on larry fics. to me, they are no different than actual books. they just follow the same people who are totally different in each book. to be honest, some fics are better written than some published books i’ve read. i always explain to my friends why fics can be such a good way to introduce yourself to reading. i used to struggle with reading and writing, and now i’m so much better at it thanks to reading so many fics. i think when people hear the word fan fiction, they think of “y/n” or wattpad. some people truly miss out on such incredible stories and plots. one thing i like to read would be third person, i don’t like first person because i like to watch from the outside, especially if there are intimate scenes. that’s one reason why i do stick with fan fiction, it’s easy to access and usually in third person. a lot of published books that my friends read are romances in first person, and i just can’t get behind it. i think i find comfort in reading about gay relationships because i don’t see myself in it. i can just get lost within the stories and the characters as a spectator. my friend shares with me a lot of hetero intimacy scenes in the books that she reads, and they make me feel uncomfortable if i’m being honest. i’m asexual, and the thought of reading an intimate scene in first person just makes my skin crawl. i’ve just been thinking about this over the last few days and i felt like sharing. i also want to say that i love your fics and i think you’re an incredible writer and we’re so lucky to have you in this fandom ❤️❤️❤️

Hi sweetheart. I agree with so much of what you wrote here. I’ve honestly learned so much about myself from reading fic, and there are so many stories that have impacted me in really powerful ways. People who don’t read fic really don’t get it and yeah, they just assume it’s all crap.

And what you say about why you prefer gay love stories and third person POV is really interesting. Thank you so much for sharing that. And thank you for your incredibly kind words about my writing. I really appreciate that. 🥰

Day 11- Power Play

Dear Malik,

How long did it take you to put this plan together? When did you start to see this life for me in your mind’s eye? Think about the man you have turned me into. I am lazy and dependent on you and the servants of the house. I am a glutton who spends his days eating and thinking of eating. Worst yet, I am enormously fat and still growing. I am a pig among men.

I pity the man who tries to underestimate you. You were born into nothing and were treated as a nothing when you came to this country. I hired you as a lowly servant to do my bidding. Yet you turned our rules against its own son.

In our country, options for fun are more restricted. It is illegal for to sell alcohol and impossible to find and do drugs. Nightclubs and parties like they have in the West do not exist here. So the thing to do in our lives of excess is to eat. The place to be is a mall food court. The drive thru is the hub for our guilty pleasures. We import the world’s restaurants as status symbols.

I’ve never believed in denying myself anything unless absolutely necessary. You’ve seen how insatiable I can be. I can follow a big burger with an hours-long trip to the Chinese buffet. If an ad appears on my phone or I pass by a sign, I have to make a stop.  My appetite only seems to grow with every passing year. I call you and send you messages with food orders, and you pick surprises to leave in my boxes so even when I’m done eating, I can have a little extra. You refill the snack drawer at my work desk so there’s always a handful of my favorites to grab and graze on over hours. I'm addicted and you enable my every desire.

In our country, we’re accustomed to not doing things. Servants are a part of life. We pay people like you from across the continent to do all that we won’t. In the intense heat of the desert, we’d rather a life of being chauffeured from one air-conditioned building to another. We’d rather someone else do the heavy lifting of cleaning and cooking and construction and gardening.

It makes for a very relaxing life for us, and I’m willing to admit that I have taken advantage. When I was a kid, my parents had servants who did everything for our family. Now I have you all do everything for me. With every passing day, my legs and arms and belly get heavier and harder to move. I need help to put on socks and shoes as my stomach gets in the way. I need help to fetch things across the house, so I don’t reach my destination sweating and panting. I need some to go down all the corridors and doorways too narrow for me to slide through- the love handles got too wide and my ass sticks out too far. You always make sure I’m always taken care of.  And I’m only going to become more and more dependent on help as I grow older and bigger.

In our country, there are strict rules about how men can engage with women. There are places we cannot go together and so many things they cannot do. Even if you’re a married couple there are rules about how you can show affection. And so the men spend our days being mainly with other men, showing our affection to men, growing closer to the men in our lives. You can hold a man’s hand and kiss them in the street and it’s normal here.

Being gay might be a crime, but the rules leave lots of space for gay men to live full lives in the shadows. You always knew the power you held in the male gaze. You knew our country was filled with repressed men who dream of finding someone gorgeous and sweet like you. Oh it was so hard to resist you in the beginning; you always walk in the door with your muscles glistening from the sweat of the day, feigning you didn’t know how tantalizing you looked. You shared your irresistible smile all day as you did your tasks, putting the pieces in place to build a future where I fattened myself up beyond belief. The smaller my world girl, the bigger yours became. Migrant workers have no rights when they come, but I gave you access to as much as I could. My money became your money. My freedom became your freedom. My power became your power.

Now my life is simple.  I am four times the size of the average person. The servants burn all the calories that I would. My only outings are to gorge on rich fast food until they replace their tiny chairs with reinforced benches. I work all day to bring in money for you to buy yourself gifts. I fatten myself just as you want. I become, just as the old Persian tale says, a slave to a slave.

The Blue Castle, chapter 11

It's interesting that Olive's greatest joy is to be a famous musician. I'd have thought it would be something like marrying for both love and money -- something Stirling approved and a subtle dig at Valancy. Clearly I underestimated her. Interesting also that Aunt Wellington, who married in, has a desire unconnected to marriage or personal ailments. She's portrayed as one of the clan's tyrants, but how many dreams did young, pretty, wealthy Mary Maiden-name-not-given give up when she married Wellington Stirling?

I have never been to Youth Group, but there was a discussion earlier in the tag about how Mrs. Fredrick's holier-than-thou response was the equivalent of someone saying their favorite book was the bible, and I can picture the scene so perfectly. I didn't classify Mrs. Fredrick as one of the clan tyrants, because her financial poverty seems to put her fairly low in the pecking order, but she is just as obsessed with one-upmanship as the rest of them.

We're going back once again to the incredible power of social shame. All it takes to throw the entire dinner party into an absolute panic is Valancy making two comments. Is she slightly rude to Uncle Benjamin? Possibly. Is she ruder to him than anyone has been to her? Definitely not. But the Stirling rudeness is done under the guise of "helpful" advice and commentary -- they're not criticizing, they're just saying -- and so Valancy breaking that social contract and being blunt is unthinkable. In three sentences, Valancy destroys the entire carefully constructed façade, and all power to her for doing so.

Credit to Uncle Herbert for trying to smooth things over in a way that's not trying to squash Valancy. Sure, he wants her to stop talking because it's causing a fuss at the party, but he does so by checking if she's okay, not trying to terrify and bully her back into submission. And frankly, I don't blame the poor man for wanting his wedding lunch to go smoothly. Having people fighting in front of you is deeply stressful, and on top of that you know that this will be brought up at every single anniversary lunch he and Aunt Alberta have for the rest of forever.

You know, I bet Uncle Wellington thought that Barney Snaith would be a safe topic of conversation, one that didn't concern Valancy and one that she had no interest in and thus would not be inclined to disrupt. Shame for him that he is completely wrong about that. Sounds like even Valancy didn't quite realize how much of an interest she had in the topic, until she found herself at liberty to express it.

"Generally when Uncle James lifted his eyebrows the world came to an end. This time it continued to function." What an absolutely delightful turn of phrase. I love it.

Is this the first time we've heard mention of Cissy Gay? Clearly she's a known quantity in the community, but I don't remember if she's been explicitly mentioned before.

And so Valancy makes her triumphant exit, leaving utter devastation in her wake. Once again, it's remarkable how little it took to bring the whole family to its knees. These are people who are very used to getting what they want, and what they want is strict obedience and social cohesion. Even the nicer ones have don't rock the boat engraved into them as their overriding motivation. They simply cannot cope with someone who simply does not care what the boat does in response to their actions.

“Well, that’s settled. In the meantime, Amelia, act as if nothing had happened and keep an eye on her. Don’t let her be alone. Above all, don’t let her sleep alone.”  Valancy's fears that telling her family about her diagnosis would lead to them insisting on sharing her bed were spot on, I see. One assumes those fears came from experience, not simple projection or anxiety.

Some Random Tyland HCs (Edited)

He may be more lowkey than his more popular brother but he’s no less a Lannister. He has a scheming mind and is a hustler.

He has been called “Jason’s Shadow”

He, Jason, and Johanna are the ultimate trio. Jason the brawn, Tyland the brains, and Johanna make sure the two don’t get themselves killed.

Tyland is gay. His father used to abuse him for this unchangeable fact until Jason beat their father so badly that he never touched Tyland again.

Johanna is Tyland’s platonic soulmate.

Tyland believes only three things matter: money, family, and power.

Tyland is a water dancer. He learned during his time traveling and when he lived in Bravos for a year. It suits him because it’s the opposite fighting style of his twin Jason who has more of a traditional Westeros fighting style.

He has a saying that is basically the earlier version of Lannisters always pay their debts. “I always get what I am owed.”

Has a habit of rolling a gold coin through his fingers when he's thinking (scheming.)

He’s incredibly close to his deaf 🧏‍♀️ ward/niece Cerelle. Many other nobles question Tyland and Cerelle’s bond.

He sees Cerelle and himself as the outcasts of the Lannisters.

There are rumors that she is actually Johanna and Tyland’s bastard daughter. Tyland denies these rumors because of course he’s gay.

Johanna sent Cerelle to Kingslanding and asked Tyland to take her as a ward so that Jason wouldn’t marry her to some fat creepy Lord.

He also uses Cerelle as a spy. He believes she’s perfect for it because people underestimate and disregard her because she’s deaf.

Tyland taught his niece water dancing as well. Cerelle is basically the “Ashtray” to Tyland’s “Fezco.” (From Euphoria.) She’s ride or die for him.

Tyland is a savvy businessman. When Visarys made him Master of Ships, he also put him in charge of trade.

He also secretly owns most of the gambling houses (medieval casinos) in Kingslanding. When he goes out to these places to collect or check on it he wears a hooded cloak and mask to hide his identity. The people who work and frequent these casinos call him “The Shadow Cat.”

(This foreshadows when he becomes the hooded hand.)

Tyland gets involved in Kingslanding’s underworld when flea-bottom gangs try to exploit his taverns for protection money. Tyland disguised himself with a cloak and mask. He then slaughtered the entire gang and took back his gold.

He brought his niece to these secret raids. Niece and uncle bonding over murdering criminals together.

When Tyland sees just how bloodthirsty Cerelle is he begins to regret using her as a weapon. He feels guilty because he stole that innocence from her. Cerelle doesn't see it that way though. She believes her uncle is the only person who doesn't treat her like she's helpless or useless.

Tyland wants a better life for her.

After Daeron returns from Oldtown, Tyland begins trying to set Cerelle up with him. He believes the Targaryens have denied the Lannisters marriage pacts for far too long.

Because the Lannisters are the 2nd richest house in Westeros and the Green's major financial supporter Tyland offers a marriage pact between Cerelle and Daeron. Much to the council's shock. Otto refused at first because Cerelle was deaf. However, because Tyland had most of the financial leverage, Otto was basically strongarmed into agreeing to the proposal.

His main rivals are Jasper Wylde and Larys. Especially Larys, who he sees as the biggest threat. He even calls Larys out on his unthreatening crippled act.

Tyland: Oh for the love of the Gods drop the act already. You’re not fooling anyone with this harmless cripple performance.

Larys: …I suppose you’re right. I am not as convincing as your niece. She is a talented actress…

Tyland: *smirks menacingly* Careful now Larys. You only have one good leg left. You don’t want to lose it by running your mouth on things that you don’t know about…

Born a peasant in a remote village, he grew up in a loving, if poor, family. However, he possessed a divine blessing of incredible strength and resilience, and when this was discovered by a royal knight passing through his home, he was dragged to the royal city to be trained as a knight, as all people with blessings were required to serve in the palace. Unfortunately, since non-nobility being blessed was incredibly rare, he was ostracized by the noble knights around him and faced years of abuse at their hands until he was made the personal bodyguard of the Crown Prince, Castor. While it took Sirius a long time to warm up to the prince, the two eventually fell in love though their relationship had to remain secret due to the vast difference in their social classes- a peasant, even if he did become a knight, could never be openly married to a prince.

Personality: -Quiet and generally stoic, which combined with his height and scars makes him seem intimidating, but he's really quite gentle and shy -Fiercely loyal to Castor -Passive when treated poorly himself, but will defend others from abuse even if it's to his own detriment

Backstory: The Crown Prince of the Astraea Kingdom, born with a divine blessing allowing him to wield the power of the sun. He decided on the spot to have Sirius made his personal bodyguard, and after that, the two were always together.

Personality: -Typically warm and friendly, loving to talk to anyone he can -Can be an attention whore at times, hates being ignored -Hotheaded and can be vindictive if his loved ones are threatened, blowing up at any suggestion that someone might try and hurt them -Fairly vain and knows he looks cute, and isn't afraid to use that to his advantage- usually by lulling opponents into underestimating how willing he is to flat-out attack someone if he perceives them as a threat to his loved ones. -A little bit feral sometimes despite his elegant princely image but it's probably fine

General Headcanons 1

Light is gay. His parents and sister know, but don’t want to embarrass him by saying anything. They’re very supportive! I’m tired of the “unsupportive parents” thing, especially with parents/people from an older generation. Light worries about his parents finding out (even though he does not need to). He thinks he’s in the closet, but he is not.

Light’s father is a Japanese Christian (under-represented group IMO) but has knowledge of Shintoism and Buddhism. His mother and her side of the family are Shinto except for his maternal aunt, who is a Buddhist. They set up shrines in the house. Sayu leans towards their father’s faith, but retains excitement for Shinto festivals. Light believes in the existence of a higher power, but does not belong to any faith.

L is asexual. He’s completely uninterested in sex or physical intimacy. He wouldn’t be completely against a romance, though. He has no preference.

L does believe in God and is technically Protestant, though he is not affiliated with any particular sect or church. He has a low opinion of organized religion and would rather contemplate faith/theology quietly. He knows that religion is NOT the same thing as faith. I’m actually tired of the “smart people are atheists” trope. Some of L’s inner thoughts on Kira and God don’t seem like “non-belief” to me. But that’s just my interpretation.

Light doesn’t have any mental disorders, but he does have some traits found in several. That’s normal. Everyone does. He has a few narcissistic traits, but not the personality disorder. He’s also a perfectionist and desperate to stay virtuous (definitely shown in the manga). It’s this perfectionism and desire to be good that causes him to snap/mentally withdraw after accidentally killing the first two people. He rationalizes and tries to justify everything so he can keep thinking he’s a good boy. He would’ve have stayed a good person if he hadn’t found the notebook. He has a social life. The manga shows this better, since he actually has friends and whatnot.

L is autistic. It’s pretty obvious. I’m autistic and even share a lot of the same quirks! I recently started reading Death Note a few months ago (as of the post date) and was pleasantly surprised to see a character who acts similarly to me.

L has mild autism (most likely Asperger’s) and LIKES Watari doing everything for him, but he can obviously do things for himself.  He’s brilliant but lazy, though very efficient when he does work (like me).

L’s main stims are biting his fingers (not the nails since his nails always look perfect), wiggling/shifting his feet, hand flapping (only when alone or with Watari), and sitting the way he does (pressure/balance stim). He also has several minor stims, like shaking his leg(s).

L has sensory issues with touch. It’s also a control thing. He likes being in control and people touching him is a loss of control. He’d prefer to initiate any touches. He also has sensitive hearing, though his issues with it have improved since childhood. Now he uses his very sharp hearing to solve cases better.

He also has excellent vision and observational skills. This is one of the many reasons why he’s the best detective in the world.

L does not like certain textures or fabrics, which is why he prefers simple clothes. He will wear other things if he has to, though.

L also likes and dislikes certain scents. He’s bothered by Light’s intense colognes, but likes the smell of laundry detergent and other fresh scents. Mint, lavender, strawberry, vanilla, patchouli, and chocolate are scents he enjoys.

L purposely keeps his hair messy, even arranging it that way. He cares very little for most social norms. He’s an autistic man who just does what he wants! He also does it to get people to lower their guards and underestimate him.

In terms of Lawlight shipping, I do ship it but I can also see platonic or no relationship at all. For shipping, Light would fall first. L remains distant and thinks very negatively of Light for a while (confirmed by How to Read). It would take L quite some time to actually have feelings for his enemy. I love slowburn.

Light’s main celebrity crush is Hideki Ryuga (the real one).

Light is lactose intolerant, though he does power through it for milk and sometimes ice cream.

In contrast, L is not lactose intolerant. He loves milk and drinks a ton of it.

Did Tyler escape the van?

We know that he started to transform into the hyde. But the he wasn’t shown escaping the Willowhill van. 

About Willowhill

We also know that Willowhill was where Tyler’s mom was being ‘treated’ for being a hyde. Other than that, we don’t know much about them. Depending on how capable we think they are, he could have easily escaped, or he may never escape.

Who are they:

They could be run by outcasts or normies, and they could specialize in ‘treatment’ via be magic, scientific, or supernatural methods. They could be a large group spanning states or countries or just a small group run by one rich person. They could have affiliations with any number of groups, including the Crackstone Cult:tm:, Nevermore, the town of Jericho, Morning Song, other outcasts schools, or other outcasts groups

Why are they doing this:

They could be doing this because they hate outcasts, or maybe they don’t care about outcasts and they just want the power they have. They could even care about outcasts, but maybe they just don’t know the first thing about how to actually show caring and love. But they don’t seem to want to kill all outcasts on sight, or they would have just killed Tyler, instead of trying to capture him

What we do know:

We know they have long term goals that involve keeping outcasts alive, and that has the capacity to be much scarier than just Laurels goal of “kill them all with fire” (I’ll probs do another post about the fire metaphor eventually) 

We know they have heavy duty metal vans and branded clothing and medical equipment. So we know they have resources. 

Did he get out of the van

If these people have treated a hyde before, they likely planned for this. 

So the van could be magical. The restraints or the drugs could be too. Or maybe they drugged him at the last second and he never got out of the van. Or maybe they have a hyde-strength tranquilizer gun, taser, or other immobilizing weapon. Or maybe they just straight up shot him with bullets if he got out of the van. There are so many ways they could have planed to stop him from getting away.

So why did he even get to the point of being able to transform? 

Did they not measure out the drugs correctly? Maybe they’ve only ever treated his mom, and it takes less of the drugs to control her. Or maybe she escaped, and they were never able to control her. 

Or maybe something unexpected called him out of it. Like maybe Laurel woke up in a hospital somewhere and he could feel it. Or maybe his mom or other hydes connected with him, or just any outcast that can talk into your mind.

Or maybe it wasn’t an accident.

Maybe there is a mole in the Willowhill group. They could be someone who wants to save all outcasts, a family member or specifically Tyler from Willowhill. Maybe Tyler’s mom bribed the guards or nurses to switch out the meds with saline. Or maybe one of them gave him a shot of adrenaline to wake him up and get him out of there

Anyway

I have more thoughts about Willowhill that I’ll post in a bit, but I think that’s it’s quite possible that Tyler didn’t escape, even though he started to transform. 

But I think it would be a better story if he did escape. 

I love seeing the bad guys underestimate people they are trying to hurt or use. 

It just emphasizes the fact that if you don’t treat people like they are human, they are going to surprise you, and win, because people are smart, loving, powerful, and complex.

The bad guys don’t plan for all that because they don’t believe it to be true
