Biden dropping out is a great day for a lot of people. I am cautiously enthusiastic. I am seeing a lot of anxiety being expressed by people who you may have expected to be more enthusiastic: Black people.

They’re less confident that a plurality of left-ish voters will Blue No Matter Who Harris.

So for whatever it’s worth, when and if you talk to people in your orbit who are iffy, try not to reflexively go straight to shame. We’ve got a decade of why this doesn’t work for implicit racism. If someone is intentionally racist, then sure it’s important not to normalize that. But we can’t assume everyone is plugged into the latest dictionary of coded language and thus can avoid it with perfect alacrity.

Be normal. Talk about the issues that matter to you. Acknowledge any misgivings you have and why other things take precedence. Kamala Harris is not a goddess sent to deliver us. She has stinky things in her background, there are narratives about the 2020 primary and her Vice Presidency that need to be talked through.

Make sure to personalize it. You want the uncertain in your life to know why this matters to you specifically. That it’s not just a team sport. Because yes, somehow it still just looks like team sports to people. That’s because a lot of people just aren’t very plugged in. I literally know people who don’t consume any news first hand at all: no tv, no radio, no podcasts etc so they’re literally only getting things 1:1 from other people or memes without context. They’re not going to want to engage with someone who seems shouty, condescending, or cultish.

This election is important, I personally have a lot riding on it: I’m a college librarian. The GOP wants to privatize college, take away my students’ ability to engage with any and all sources, and hold me accountable if they succumb to wrong think, but if we do a BlueMAGA we will blur the contrast rather than ensure conformity and communicate seriousness.

A cult has been causing trouble for the Infinite Realms in their search for power and eternal life. And to make things worse, the Observants suspect that they have at least one actual ghost—or possibly even a traitorous Observant—working with them and interfering with their view. This could become a major problem…

However, as Observants, they’ve sworn not to intervene directly, so they have to pick someone else to look deeper into the situation for them. And, if necessary, to deal with it.

They choose Phantom for this role, since his half-human nature means he’ll have an easier time operating in the living world. Danny’s not entirely happy with the assignment, but the situation does seem like a genuine issue so he’s willing to look into it (if in his own way).

Since he doesn’t know how prepared the cult is for ghosts, he decides that infiltration would be the best way to gather info. Thus, he takes on a new identity in his human form and approaches the cult, expressing interest in the publicly known part of their group. Then, a bit later, he manages to successfully gain admittance into some of the more private meetings. Everything is progressing as planned!

…Though he didn’t expect to like one of his fellow initiates so much. He hopes he can change their mind on things and bring them out of the cult with him when he’s done.

Meanwhile, a hero from the Justice League has also been sent to infiltrate the cult and investigate the rumors about it. It’s gone off without a hitch so far, but they’ve gained a potential entanglement in the form of one of the other new members whom they’re developing a crush on…

Danny is sick of the summons. He gets cults don’t care how he feels. The teens are just after a scare. Which he happily does.

But.

Come on. The justices league? Like sure he knows that’s he isn’t knee deep in political work. He dumped that garbage on the Observants after they tried to have him killed. Again.

Would they force any other king, queen or politician to magically appear in front of them.

And for box ghost no less? Well… if they want to call him for insignificant useless reasons and not care he is a KING. Two can play that game

Next time he spots a fish out of water. Poof. Totally without the help of clockwork and other ghosts, aqua man gets summoned. Danny in full regalia tells him to deal with it.

Car illegally parked. Welp Superman can deal with it.

Lost kid? Stabby robins problem.

Two ghost have a slight disagreement. Space cop of course.

Night springs dlc spoilers and lake house dlc speculation:

Now that the Night Springs DLC has explored almost every character in comedic and fascinating ways, I’m hoping the Lake House DLC finds a way to involve Kiran and the Koskela brothers too. The Lake House is a FBC location and the brothers did steal from there, so it really wouldn’t be a stretch to have them around! It sounds like it takes place before the events of Alan Wake 2 with the incident Kiran mentioned, probably having the Dark Presence take over the entire facility (would love for it to somehow include Saga too, maybe in some strange time way or time skip, but not getting my hopes up).
