I guess that because of your last ask questions about sex in media are fair game? But don’t answer (obviously) if you don’t want to. What are your favourite sex scenes in shows of movies? Or shows/ movies that depict sexuality in a way you like?

Yeah, totally fair game, I love these kinds of questions.

Soooooo as far as my favorite scenes off the top of my head...

Obviously, I enjoy pretty much all of the scenes in the 365 franchise, though the boat scene remains king. For me, I just enjoy how far those movies are willing to go, the way they kind of just revel in sex and female pleasure and this man being totally on display. Also, there is a ton of focus on oral sex in those movies, and idk. There's just something nice about seeing sex onscreen that isn't JUST like "and he sticks his dick in and she gets off".

Sense8 had great sex scenes, imo. The first psychic orgy was particularly great. I also enjoyed the s2 scene that went between Kala and Wolfgang and Capheus and Zakia. Super sensual, loved the use of water, the connections between the couple seemed really good. Sense8 did a great job (imo) of portraying sex that was hot but not necessarily the type of sex we're used to seeing onscreen, right? It is a little dirtier, a lot more queer, less... white. I also loved the final orgy scene that depicted all of the couples and triads, especially because SUN AND MUN GOT IT IN FINALLY. I loved Nomi and Amanita's sex scenes too, not just because I loved the ship, but because they played really sweetly as this couple that had been together a long time but weren't tired of each other, whereas much of the sex we see onscreen is like... between people who've only just connected.

Of course, Outlander's wedding night scene is kind of legendary. My favorite sex scenes on that show, though, are probably the infamous "I mean to make you call me master" scene a couple of episodes later (so fucking over the top, the blade at his throat while she rode him, FAB) and the parting sex scene in the s2 finale? Like, yes, it was fully clothed, short, I don't even think she got off, but that's not what it was about. It shows you that sex scenes can also convey like... more that just desire, but sorrow and love and emotionality. This is why I hate people claiming that sex scenes are solely gratuitous or unnecessary. This felt REAL. She was leaving him forever, this would be their last opportunity to be skin to skin, he thought he was dying... It was supposed to be the last time. This wasn't fucking for the sake of fucking, it was connection between two people who loved each other dearly.

The Americans had some GREAT sex scenes with AMAZING musical cues. And it was a show that understood the complexity of sex and the way it could convey sexuality and desire but also be completely divorced of it. The two leads are Soviet sleeper agents posing as an American married couple--and the first season does largely focus on their relationship becoming "real" for the first time in over a decade of partnership. But it's not just about their sex with each other, but the way the two of them (imo, especially the man, Philip) do not.... have the same perspective on sex as most of us would. Yes, Elizabeth as the woman is also a honeypot agent at times, but Philip is very literally a Romeo agent; he can fuck anyone, make it seem super convincing (which physiologically and socially, let's be real, is harder for cis men much of the time) and convey emotion. He literally has another woman as his "fake" wife who has no idea who he really is, and she 100000% believes that he is this animalistic fuck machine who wants her and only her... But when his "real" wife asks him to be that for her, he refuses until she puts a lot of pressure on, and it's a super traumatic experience as they are essentially both sexually traumatized. She's been very directly raped in the past, and he's (willingly technically, but with no true knowledge at the time that he agreed that it would be like this) been trained to be this Romeo agent by having sex with so many people, including those he has no attraction to.

Aside from that, I would also say that between Philip and Elizabeth, who do have a genuine romantic relationship... The sex is hot. Like, sometimes it deliberately isn't, but when they do connect you see... The difference. I think the two scenes that stand out for me are the infamous "Under Pressure" sex scene where Keri Russell looked like her soul left her body at one point (added context being that she was pregnant, hiding her pregnancy in the sex scene, and having simulated sex scene with her offscreen partner/baby's father lmao) and the scene in the pilot where Elizabeth and Philip had spontaneous sex in their car after dumping a body together. While "In The Air Tonight" plays. This show spared no expense in terms of music.

On a very scaled down level, I actually would call out Reign for having really good sex considering the fact that it was airing on the CW? I mean, yes, it could be a bit goofy--the King of France does fuck someone out a window (they did it first!). But it could also be kind of sexy and a great way for the characters to connect? Also, a lot of focus was had on female pleasure and the female gaze for a teen show on the CW--I still remember a scene where Mary (context: married to the dauphin of France, supposed to pump out babies) basically apologetically tells her husband that she's not in her fertile window and there's no point in having sex. And he's like lmao that's not what this is about. And then he drops to his knees and eats her out while she's standing up in a public setting. On the CW! Love it!

The Great does sex really well, I made a whole post about it lol. But basically, aside from there being a fabulous degree of emphasis on the importance of cunnilingus... The show really does a great way of tracking the relationship between its protagonists in terms of how they sexually interact with each other. First, as a means of him controlling her and attempting to get her pregnant, with neither one of them wanting to interact with each other. Then, as a means for her to control him and for him to like... prove that he has value as a husband lol. And finally, as a mutual coming together (and COMING TOGETHER) where they're able to connect both physically and emotionally at the same time.

Through My Window was actually a really fun teen movie that did a great job with the sex, imo. I have called it like... 365 DNI meets The Kissing Booth, but it's sooooo much better than The Kissing Booth in every way. There's such a joyful sex montage in that one that kind of just conveys how into each other these two kids are, and like--the realities that teenagers, do, in fact, get it in. Sorry guys! They do! Also, one of the only examples of a guy getting his ass eaten by his girlfriend I've seen onscreen. ARES AIN'T ABOVE IT. But nah, I think what I loved about this movie is that they fucked a lot but they also seemed super just emotionally sweet with each other. In the end the boyfriend leaves for college and he's crying on the plane when he realizes his girlfriend put her panties in his pocket while they were saying goodbye. It's like... You can be kinda dirty but also be sweet, y'all.

I'm gonna call out Lust/Caution because the sex in this is... so hot, yet so fraught. Tony Leung and Tang Wei really, really got vulnerable for this shit. But it's not a romantic movie. It's an erotic thriller, but it is deep and it is difficult to watch, and there is sexual assault. The heroine is basically an undercover agent attempting to get information on the guy she's fucking, as he's working with Japanese forces in occupied China during World War II. He rapes her before they ever have consensual sex. However, the movie charts how their sexual intimacy gradually gives way to emotional intimacy, and Tang Wei's performance as she... self-loathingly begins to have feelings for this man, which are wrapped up in the sexual pleasure she gets during their encounters and the inevitably vulnerable things she learns about him... It's just so deep, and you couldn't possibly accomplish this without the explicit sex scenes, imo. Sex is not always important to plot, but damn, it is SO IMPORTANT to plot in this movie. Also, the scene where she covers his face with a pillow during sex so that he doesn't catch on to what's happening, preying on his fear of the dark while also triggering like this total ecstasy (maybe adjacent to subspace?) is... incredible. The acting in that movie is amaaaazing all around.

Y Tu Mama Tambien, for obvious reasons. Like, the homoeroticism in that movie. The moral ambiguity and discomfort triggered in that movie. Again, I say that you could not have gotten what you needed to get out of it without the sexual explicitness. The buildup in these two guys going from masturbating together to that kiss. And of course, the development of Luisa as you realize more and more that she is facing her mortality through sex? Amazing. The chemistry between Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna in this is great.

Another Gael Garcia Bernal movie--The Crime of Father Amaro? Another movie that does involve sexual assault, but like... The depth of the way it deals with Father Amaro's crisis of faith? The scene where he dresses her like the Virgin Mary before fucking her? Lol dude.

I mean, speaking of, a show that does a great job with dealing with the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church and its attitudes towards sexuality (despite the inherent... sensuality and lustfulness ... of Catholic practices) is of course The Young Pope. Lenny, the titular Young Pope, actually never has sex on the show, but his latent sexuality--the famous fantasy sequence of him on the beach in a white speedo with all the bikini clad women wearing crosses, one of which is dresses to look like the Virgin being JUST ONE OF MANY WILD MOMENTS--is such an important part of the show. His desire for love and sex, his fear of it connected back to his abandonment by his parents and particularly his mother... Which can be, of course, connected to the feelings of abandonment religion seeks to quell in general among worshippers. Though I also have to say, this show does feature a threesome between a bisexual cardinal, a random hot guy, and a hot mobster's wife, and it is.... incredible.

Cruel Intentions, of course, because as incredibly over the top and ridiculous as it is, I can't help but love the way it divides between sex used for callous purposes (pretty much everything Sebastian does up to his sex scene with Annette) and sex used to express love. It's not a super shocking take, but I love it every time. Also, the way the movie just... delights in shocking the audience. Is the SMG/Selma Blair makeout over the top and purely meant to bait a het male audience? Yes. Did it do more than that? In my opinion, yes. Definitely... did not only bait het males, even if that was the intention.

The Dreamers is a WILD fucking movie, and I think it definitely broke some boundaries in terms of how sex was depicted. Of course, the really interesting aspect of the movie is that its use of sex is so... ambiguous. It focuses on twins, Theo and Isabelle, and this random American Matthew, who they bring into their web. Theo and Isabelle are incredibly... close, and he kind of assumes they've fucked? Understandably, they kiss on the lips and do weird tickle fights and she does in fact make Theo masturbate in front of her, and he does have a random picture of her in a bikini in his dresser drawer, which Matthew subsequently steals and hides in his boxers. But it later turns out that Isabelle is a virgin (at least... in terms of p in v sex, I'm not convinced about everything else). And you basically spend much of the movie wondering if she and Matthew are actually romantically a thing, or if she's basically using him as this proxy for her relationship with her brother, who also a (resentful) homoerotic tension with Matthew that really should've been taken all the way, but we'll have to settle for the three of them lounging naked in the tub together and Theo hitting on Matthew... a lot. Resentfully. Because he's jealous of Matthew for fucking his twin sister. Mess! This movie is super ambiguous and there are a million ways to interpret it, but I don't think it would be the same movie without its incorporation of pretty graphic sexuality.

Controversial, but I do also like the sex scenes in The Handmaiden. I get the complaints, I do, and the male gaze is evident in this movie. But I think what I enjoyed a lot was the way that they were kind of... absurd? Like, super explicit, hot, connected the heroines, but they were ABSURD. In a similar manner, Park Chan-wook also did Stoker, which I love due the bold "will they/won't they" between an uncle and niece. Rather than a traditional sex scene, I'll highlight the piano scene, in which she... has an orgasm? Maybe? While playing the piano with her uncle? It's powerful, lol. The movie focuses a lot on coming of age through the lens of her burgeoning sexuality, while also aligning that with the idea of coming of age... as a murderer. It's a lot.

he was born in port-au-prince, haiti to a single mother. he never met his father because his father was someone that his mother hooked up with while she was studying in the states. it was her last year in college and she didn’t know she was pregnant until she was about three months along. she took a year off and went back home so she could have him. she considered putting him up for adoption, but as soon as he was born and she looked into his eyes, she “fell in love with him and couldn’t part from him”, or that’s what she always tells samyr.

when he was six years old and his mother was twenty-seven, she decided to go back to school and get her degree. she spent the first six years of his life working two full time jobs and a part time job just so she could provide for him and save money at the same time. after she saved enough money, she packed up their things and moved them to america, california to be exact, so she could graduate and get a better paying job. she finished up her criminal justice degree and got a job working as a law clerk while she put herself through law school. she finally graduated, passed the bar exam, and now she’s a highly sought after criminal attorney in the states.

his childhood was a hard, yet happy time for him. hard because he and his mother lived in california while his mother worked for a very low salary. it was difficult for them to make ends meet, especially when she was still in school. even though she eventually became an extremely wealthy lawyer (she started making money around the time samyr was fifteen, but by then he was already making money from his show), things were hard at first. he was still a happy kid though. his mother gave him a lot of love, and he had friends and a cute puppy named chichi (she’s still alive, with her old ass ;-;)

samyr’s first taste of the spot light was at a young age. he did a little bit of modeling for stores and brands, but didn’t really get his big break until he was 12 and landed one of the lead roles of a children’s sitcom. he loved acting when he first started doing it, and worked hard for the several seasons that he was apart of the show before it ended. he was nineteen when the show ended. he did cameos on other shows, and acted in a few movies during the course of the show too.

he’s a very passionate and dedicated person, but once he’s finished with something and wipes his hands clean of it, he’s finished indefinitely. he felt as though after several years of acting on one show and doing other acting jobs, that he was ready to bring to a close the chapter of acting in his life. he enjoyed it, still does, but he wanted to pour all of his time and effort into the next aspect of his life - music.

he had actually started getting into music around the middle of his show’s run. he had been in the industry for a while and started making friends with musicians who had introduced him to the art of music. he quickly fell in love with it, not just singing and rapping, but the technical aspects of the music industry as well - producing, sound mixing, composition, e.t.c.

he released his first music project while he was still acting. it was in 2011, and it was a mixtape that he dropped out of the blue. people didn’t know who it was at first because he just dropped it on soundcloud and his account wasn’t under his own name. but some fans ended up doing some digging and made the connection.

after that, he would occasionally drop music projects here and there (i’ll eventually make a little timeline of his music releases, more so for my own means of keeping track, but to also give you guys an idea of what he’s released so far!)

now he focuses primarily on music. overall, his sound and lyrics are explicit, but there are still two sides to him - the ‘hard’ side (dababy, roddy ricch) and his softer side (the weeknd). he likes having that kind of duality, because it gives him the freedom to explore himself as a musician.

personality

he’s a very hard worker, and extremely prideful. he doesn’t like accepting help from others, especially if he thinks they’re pitying him. he and his mother used to get a lot of “offers” of help, which were honestly just people feeling sorry for them, which he absolutely hated. he doesn’t even like asking for help when he knows he needs it. if you ever catch him asking for help, you best believe it’s because it’s his very last resort.

if samyr’s face and name weren’t connected to his music, no one would even think that he was the one rapping and singing on his tracks. a lot of his music has explicit sexual innuendos and undertones, and holds a little aggression from time to time. it’s a complete contrast to samyr’s lowkey personality. what most people don’t know is that writing music is his outlet. he doesn’t get frustrated or angry (most of the time) because when he feels those things, he channels it into his writing.

that being said, he does have a little bit of a temper. it’s something that his mother says he gets from his grandfather, a man he had never met because he passed away before his birth. he has a high tolerance for things, but if he’s pushed over the edge, he gets black out angry. he hates that though, which is why he stays ‘medicated’ most of the time (lmao he stays high)

he’s so deep in the closet that he’s finding christimas presents. he knows that there’s nothing wrong with being gay, he’s an avid supporter of the lgbtq+ on social media platforms and such, but it’s just something that he struggles to accept about himself. his mother is very open minded, but he has a lot of family members who aren’t, and he doesn’t want them to disown him.

hello everybody, my name is pepper and i have never been on time for anything ever in my life, so this is very on brand for me dkjddkj i made theo up a few days ago while watching dare me and feeling particularly inspired by the cheerleader antics, so here she is to fuck things up! but a bit about me to start, i can and will twerk to the cardcaptors opening theme song, because it is a bop and i think it’s time we all acknowledged that. i spent majority of the past week full on sobbing over the good place and i have no regrets. the last song i listened to was jumpin’ jumpin’ by destiny’s child, and once again, no ragrets. and finally the last movie i watched of the decade… was cats. so sdkjsdjk one regret.

Theodora Aylin Baba was brought into the world and immediately wrapped in rich silk. Honestly. The first thing in her life to touch her skin was more expensive than anything most people touch in their lifetime and that set the tone for the rest of Theo’s life like nothing else could.

Theo’s father, Haluk ‘Luke’ Baba, was the CEO of a manufacturing company and her mother, Aysun, was beautiful. Really. That was her entire occupation. Before she married her father Theo heard that her mother used to be more. She was a model in Turkey, an amateur actress too. But growing up all Theo knew her mother to do was stand there, or occasionally sit there, and look pretty. And as a child Theo couldn’t think of a greater job in the world.

Until it became suddenly and abundantly clear that pretty wasn’t enough. Because of course other women could be pretty too. While Theo’s mother was particularly good at it, she didn’t have the market cornered. Theo’s nanny’s brand of pretty was not only enough to get Papa Baba into bed with her, but enough to get him to leave his wife and daughter too. Theo remembers the day he left with particular clarity. Half because it was her sixth birthday and half because that was the first time Theo had ever seen her mother look ugly. Because Aysun Baba’s rage was ugly and that ugliness showed as she chased Luke out of their house for good.

Theo’s father didn’t want her. Theo, that is, not her mother (although frankly he didn’t seem to want her either). He didn’t say it in so many words but there was no custody battle. Her mother got her without the slightest bit of fight and half of her fathers money to boot. Aysun still wanted Haluk’s head on a spike but the money eased her pain. And when she found Theo, crying about feeling unwanted and unloved, she had the money lick her wounds too. That day Theo got a solid gold necklace with her name on it, a pony, and tickets to see Jesse McCartney. That day Theo learned to wipe her tears on hundred dollar bills.

Her mother taught her other lessons as she grew up. First that you really could make money off of just being pretty. It was eye opening for Theo to see her mother use her looks to seduce men into marrying her. Successful men. Rich men. Men who should really know better, but easily fell to the charms of a pretty face. Aysun would usually get these men to wed her, stick around just for long enough to avoid questions, and then leave with half of their fortune. It was a subtle con but it was one that worked more than once, and through it all Aysun made sure her daughter knew everything she had come to learn, so that she wouldn’t make the same mistakes she did.

So Theo learnt from the best. Not the best mother by any means (her mother was cold, irate, and critical on her best days, and almost cruel on her worst) but the best black widow in the country for sure. She saw her mother singlehandedly ruin these men in both heart and bank account, and she participated. She made them fall in love with her, not in the same way her mother did of course, but as a daughter. Always daddy’s little girl for whichever daddy of the week it was. Always starry eyed. Always in awe. The perfect little girl who could ask daddy for a grand and get double that because she could do no wrong. She could never do anything wrong, even as behind closed doors she used that money for certainly less than right things. Drugs, gambling, partying, drinking, Theo dabbled in it all probably way too early. But who needed to know? Certainly not daddy.

The Baba women lived well for a while (well, one Baba woman and whatever surname her mother had taken from her husband of the year). They had more money than they knew what to do with, all without either of them having to work a day for it. And they were greedy to boot. Theo expected the two of them to live this way for the rest of their lives. And maybe they would have if Aysun didn’t slip up.

Against all odds, Theo’s mother fell in love. And she married that man, for love. It was made all the more ridiculous by the fact that the man was none other than Theo’s father. After all he had done. After all they had been through.

Theo was fifteen when her parents got remarried. Theo got nothing out of the arrangement but a maid of honour dress she promptly burned, a half sibling she actively despised, and her biological father back she supposed. She hated it. She hated her father, and at that point she felt lied to by her mother, the one person she had been able to trust. Their household quickly became a warzone. Theo vs her parents. Theo rebelled against them whether that be through subtle rich bitch antics (getting a boy she liked to crash her daddy’s car, making a scene at an important event, trashing the house with a massive party, ‘losing’ her sibling in increasingly outlandish ways, etc) or straight out hostility. It did nothing but make Theo feel better honestly, but Theo selfishly thought that was more than enough. Until they decided to send her to fucking boarding school, like that was supposed to fix absolutely anything. It didn’t. It just pissed her off.

But that was Theo’s life for a while. Going to boarding school and only seeing her parents for Christmas breaks and summers. Watching the woman her mother was waste away into something lovestruck and meek and anxious. Aysun was terrified that Luke would cheat again, that if she didn’t keep him 100% happy he would leave her. She drank to cope. Popped more than a few pills too. And that’s how Theo learned that one of her earliest memories was a misunderstanding. That it wasn’t rage on Aysun’s face but desperation. She didn’t chase Luke out, he left. The new perspective was eye opening. Her mother wasn’t who she thought she was, or maybe she was, but love changed her. The rose coloured glasses she used to fool men into loving her were over her own eyes now, and they had made her weak.

And then of course her father cheated. Again. Theo caught him in the act herself and she wasn’t the slightest bit surprised. He begged her not to tell her mother, to keep it between them. Theo countered his pleading with a saccharine sweet request for a new car. And later a new wardrobe. A yacht? A trip to Paris with her friends? Oh daddy, would you look at this cute little plane, I simply have to have it! Please?

And just like that all was right with the world then. Theo had the upper hand. She had a father, her real one, wrapped around her little finger. Her mother was still a disappointment but she was learning to cope with that. It was all looking up. Until the day before Theo’s eighteenth birthday. Because apparently, she’s cursed.

The day before Theo’s birthday her father was very quietly arrested, and if you’re wondering, yes it did put a damper on her birthday party the following day. It should be mentioned that Luke Baba was the CEO of a weapons manufacturing company, and according to the government he had been selling said weapons at a considerable discount to the wrong people. Now honestly, Theo wouldn’t have minded her father going to jail. Yes, it was embarrassing but the government was keeping things very discreet as they underwent their investigation. No one would know that Luke Baba was behind bars.

But then they took her mother with him as an accomplice. And while Theo’s heart might not be very big or warm, she does have some loyalty.

And well, shortly after they seized their bank accounts, and that was the last straw. Because while Theo could maybe perhaps deal with being orphaned, being poor??? Was unthinkable.

This was all just before Theo went to university and she has told almost nobody about the incident. Theo trusts very few people honestly, call it her mother’s influence. No one knows that her parents are in jail and no one knows that she is technically not rich anymore because Theo has been keeping up appearances really, really well. She’s just as snobby as before. Just as materialistic as before. Just as willing to throw money around as before, even if she doesn’t technically have it.

Well, didn’t technically have it. Upon becoming bankrupt and orphaned Theo she called up some of her old stepfathers. Even though most of them (⅔) were still foolishly heartbroken over her mother, they all still loved Theo. They funded her without a second thought, giving her more than enough to get herself on her feet. But it couldn’t last forever. After all, she wasn’t even their step daughter anymore. But it’s due to their help and the scholarship that Theo was offered for her academic performance(that she honestly never thought that she’d actually need) that Theo can go to university and stay in the flats. With roommates. The thought still makes her shudder, even after being here two years.

But by the end of the second semester of her first year Theo was getting restless. Yes, she had stepdad 1 pay for her tuition for the year and yes stepdad 2 was wiring money to her monthly for her rent and other expenses (which was really just code for Theo letting him help her raise her mother’s bail) all while she had stepdad 3 on standby for an emergency, but was it enough? Theo wasn’t living the life she was used to living. It was infuriating. It was frustrating.

And it was around then that her professor made a pass at her. Like a sign from god. Or maybe Zeus, that perv. Everything suddenly clicked into place.

Skeevy, lonely, old, rich, married men. That was her in. That was her salvation. She’d get them to cheat, or even just come close to it. Take a few pictures maybe. Save a few text messages. Record a few phone calls. And finally blackmail them and milk them for all they’re worth. Cut and dry, a piece of cake. A bit of effort and Theo gets everything she wants as always. And no one has to know. Order will be restored. She’ll be on top.

Theo has been doing this for about two years and she’s been pretty successful. It helps her pay her bills and fuels her shopping habit. She also has a few sugar daddies on file because a girl’s gotta do what a girls gotta do, but to almost everyone in her life Theo just simply continues to put on the facade of being effortlessly rich. She even still goes to some rich people events and shit just to keep up appearances. If anyone ever asks where her parents are, they’re out of town. Oh, Mom is in Milan for fashion week, and Dad is in China on a business trip. She has too much pride to admit the truth to anyone, because despite everything Theo is a little embarrassed of it and she does not want anyone by any means to ever pity her.

was head bitch in charge in high school, head cheerleader, etc. very spoiled honestly, is used to asking people to jump and them asking how high, and can occasionally come off a bit bossy because of it.

still very much loves dance and gymnastics from her time cheerleading, actually used to do ballet growing up too. she is probably in a dance or gymnastic club at the university or even on the competitive cheer team if they have one. honestly theo plays dumb a lot of the time and tbh,,, she is a bit of dumb when it comes to certain things (straight up thought that a banana would cost ten dollars before she started buying her own food, thinks you have to pay to get your mail, like rich people dumb yk) sdkjsdjk but she does really well academically like she’s never really struggled to much to make grades. will joke that she’s just in the department to try and meet her future husband though, and generally won’t share her grades because honestly she figures if people know she’s smart they’ll see her coming,,, and she doesn’t want that, if people think she’s just a pretty face it’s easier to screw them over.

is a really good student though and takes school pretty seriously but doesn’t want it to look like she does? like she wants to seem effortlessly smart, but she studies her ass off when no one’s looking. her binders are all coloured coded and sexy, like she is a secret nerd for sure.

used to travel all over the place with her mother because of the amount of times her mother got married like it’d straight up be like i’m marrying this guy from sydney australia so off we go baby pack your bags aksbsj we’re moving. So she’s spent time all over the place honestly, i’d say she’s at least lived in five different countries in her life? So despite being born in france, she’s been all over.

What would prevent you from following someone? Not trigger-tagging, or not using cuts for ns//fw scenes. (I have really intense emet*phobia, so if you don't tag for that, or won't tag for it upon request, I absolutely cannot follow. Savior catches most posts for me, even if they're not tagged, but there are just So Many Euphemisms and Various Ways to Describe It that it only works 75% of the time.)

Are aesthetics important to you? If they are, why? As far as blog theme, not really-- I just like fiddling around to find something that evokes their General Vibe, and seeing what themes other muns like! I won't judge by them though. When it comes to thread aesthetics, I actually prefer to leave them utterly unformatted and plain-text as possible. I have ADHD and Fancy Unicode and Symbols and All That makes it really hard for me to focus on what's going on in the thread, not to mention I don't have the attention span to match another mun's Styling like that. (Also, fun fact: I always have my Tumblr Dash at 75% zoom, and Dove’s theme already has text at a Very Readable Size, so nothing ever needs to be Smallified for me.)

What current rp trend do you hate? I don't think there are any I "hate", though I get confused on all the Different Verses that everyone has. (In all my years of writing fanfic, I've only ever written Exactly One (1) AU, and I never read them outside of rp. AUs just aren't my thing.)

How do you explain rp to someone in the real world? "Taking turns writing what the characters are doing." Everyone afk has been pretty supportive. (They all know I'm a writer, so like... it's Nothing New.)

Do you prefer interacting with male muses or female more? Why? I genuinely don't care either way! Guy, gal, nonbinary pal: as long as they're fun to write with, I don't mind a bit. (And Dove has no preference, either.)

Do you prefer writing male muses or female more? Why? Statistically, I have 3 female muses (4 if we count Evangeline as her own person and not just A Part of Dove Manifested)... and only 1 male. (And technically, both Srentha and Leyla are genderqueer, so it's really only Dove and Kary that are cis women.) But that's not intentional? Evangeline is feminine because Dove is feminine, and Kary was originally my girlfriend's-- if she was a male I still would've hardcore adopted him. It just kind of worked out that way. I just enjoy writing people, not gender roles.

Name any three things about the rpc that bother you. 1.) The aforementioned Verse Thing. (It doesn't really bother me, I'm just easily confused by Similar-Except-Vaguely-Different Things due to the ADHD.) 2.) Some people still don't know that godmodding isn't okay. 3.) The distaste for OCs??? I guess that doesn't exactly "bother" me either, because people are allowed to have preferences... but, I mean, I spent several years active in, and then Actually Running, a group of 1300 members on dA completely DEDICATED to OCs, and it was a blast, so I just don't understand why people don't like rping with them as much as canon characters. I personally find OCs more satisfying to explore, more surprising in every thread because you just don't know what to expect, and you have a LOT more freedom for plotting and reactions! Like! You can Shed the Constraints of Canon and Revel in your Newfound OC-Based Freedom!! Truly Become your Character's GOD!!!

What is your opinion on exclusivity? Do you practice it? Why / why not? Nah, I love the variety different muns can bring to the same muse! Other people can stay exclusive if they like. Being an OC mun, it doesn't exactly affect me. 8F

Have you ever had a bad experience with commissions? As either someone who makes them or as someone who buys them? (I don't really know how this pertains to RP?) But there was one time when someone gave me a really vague commission request, out of the blue, for a fandom I know absolutely nothing about, and just kept saying things like "Whatever you think they'd do!" when I asked for plot, characterization, or preference details... I never finished it because I Didn't Even Know how to START.

What do you know now about rp that you wish you knew when you first started? The reply doesn't have to be perfect. Or dramatic, even. Not every reply is going to shatter someone's heart or absolutely make their day. And that's perfectly okay!

Have you been involved in drama? Do you regret it? Nnnnot on Tumblr. (There was a LOT of drama amongst admins of the dA group, which strongly attributed to the decline of me RPing on dA, but I definitely do not regret standing up for myself. I do wish I'd been able to foresee it, though, and brought someone else on staff who was actually going to, you know, do the job they applied for?)

Have you ever thought about leaving rp? What caused it? What changed your mind? Never! Well not on Tumblr anyways. There was a period where my favorite partners were all going inactive, and I couldn't find anyone who wanted to interact with Dove, so of course I was despairing, wondering if I'd ever get to explore what I wanted to explore with her. But then I decided, you know what, so what if I can't find any canon Titans to advance her Tumblr timeline? I'll just fill in the blanks with fanfic canon, and work from there! Making that decision was so freeing.

Do you think rp has had a positive or negative affect on your life or you as a person? Oh, positive, absolutely. I may be too busy to really attend to it much nowadays, but my writing style has improved DRAMATICALLY, I've made so many friends, and I've learned things about Dove that I never would've discovered in the stories alone. (Or at least, it might've been discovered on a ten-year delay. 8F)

How has rp changed you personally? I was able to find fast friends, make connections with people over common interests, and my very first experience with leadership happened because I hung around a TTOC dA chatroom (because, specifically, I’d gotten ADDICTED to rp), came to love the people and characters, and decided, when the current admins had to step down, I would like to step up.

If you could change one thing about rp on tumblr, what would it be? Why? I'd like tags to stop breaking, that'd be nice. (But that’s an issue with Tumblr itself, not the rps.)

Have you ever sent a message to yourself on anon? Why? Pff, no. Mostly because if I really want something to happen, I'll either post an open, OR I'll do what I'm doing here, and just answer the questions myself. 8F I have a lot of fun doing this with headcanon question lists.

Have you ever sent hate to yourself on anon? Why? No, but that's because I'm all about learning (+spreading) positive self-talk, de-escalation, and avoiding drama. Drama doesn't serve anyone.

Do you delete anon hate or post and address it? Why? I address it and then block the sender, because I want everyone to know I don't stand for that. And I have this stubborn streak about standing up for myself, so, you know... Gotta Address It First. (And I've defended Dove from Mary Sue accusations since I started posting about her in 2006, so it doesn't bother me, but I love pointing out all the reasons that, Jack Rider voice: You Are Wrong!)

Have you ever felt pressured to write something you weren’t comfortable with? Nope, but that's because if I can't or don't want to, I'm open and transparent about it. (Not on Tumblr, anyways. There was one particular person in the dA chats that kept trying to make RPs All About His Muse, but we shut that down too.)

Have you ever followed someone because you felt like you had to, not because you wanted to? Hell no! I've never Automatically Followed Back, and it's right there in my rules, I need a little communication before I start interacting.

What would make you block someone? Anon hate, reblogging/replying to rps that don't involve them, starting their own rps on my posts, Bad Takes in the Tags, shipping something I genuinely can't stand... I use the block button pretty liberally. I just don't need that stuff in my life, in my tags, or on my dash.

Have you ever stolen something from someone else? Well I have adopted a couple of headcanons re: Canon Characters from the teentitansheadcanons blog. (Like hc that, one time, Beast Boy was a bug and someone almost squished him, so now they put all the bugs outside, just in case. I love that for some reason, so I adopted it.) And every now and again I'll see something in fanfic I like: Azarath Has Two Suns, I saw that in a fanfic and it just felt so RIGHT, so I adopted that too. But, I mean, rping as an OC, there's really not a lot I can steal. 8F

Have you ever had something stolen from you? If so, how did you handle it? Not on Tumblr, but somebody once stole a picture of Srentha from dA and used it in a random webs-page blog about their dreams? ??? I have no idea why they used him, or how they even fOUND him, but I kinda just shrugged and let it go.

Are you open to duplicates? Why / why not? (Isn't this basically the same question as "are you exclusive"? Because I have the same answer. I am, because I like seeing other muns' interpretations of the same character.)

How do you feel about vague posting? Use your own judgement for your own blog, but it's not something I do myself. If I have to vaguepost to vent something, I'll usually go on a more private blog, or at least stick it under a Read More.

Do you follow people even if they don’t follow you back? Yes! I like reading rps almost as much as I like writing them.

Do you read people’s rules before following or interacting? Always.

What is your opinion on “reblog karma” and do you practice it? I try to! Sometimes I can't figure out what to send in for the blog I get in from, but most of the time, I'll send something any time I reblog something. I really appreciate it when people send something in before reblogging from me, personally. c: (I get it if you can’t or don’t want to. But it sure is nice!)

How have you responded to popular slang used on tumblr? Do you use it in every day life? Do you use it at all? Not really, but I rarely use slang at all. Unless I'm actually talking about rp, muses, muns, etc, then I'll use those words.

Is there something you don’t know the meaning of but you haven’t asked anyone because you think it’s supposed to be general knowledge? Was there ever something you had to ask someone to explain? I'm that Ravenclaw who always asks questions as soon as I encounter I don't know, and I don't use words without knowing what they mean. Kinda defeats the purpose of words that way.

Have you ever experienced discrimination? Well, Dove has, since people have that "I don't like OCs" mindset. Or "she's related to a canon character, so she's automatically a Mary Sue". It's not as big of a Discrimination as sexism or racism, don't get me wrong! But it HAS limited our scope of interaction, and I personally think it’s a little unfair to make judgments like that.

How do you feel about personal blogs following your rp blog? Go for it.

Have you ever cried while writing a reply? Mmmmaybe once? More often my heartrate just raises a little in an exciting moment, or I write out a ten-paragraph response in a one-hour fit of delighted manic wordsmithing, but I've definitely been touched. (I'm just... not very good at crying when I'm focused on writing. 8F)

Do you read other people’s threads or do you only read your own? There's definitely a bias towards my own! (Before my EHD died, I had about a hundred and fifty rps saved as word documents.) But I also enjoy reading others' threads.

What’s one thing that other people seem to hate that doesn’t bother you? Hmm...Spelling and grammatical errors. When I was copying chat rps to word docs, I started editing the replies for readability, and that habit kinda transferred to Tumblr, so when I'm not in a hurry, or I have an Unusually Long Attention Span, when I copy the replies, sometimes I'll just edit them, but I'm not mad about it. Just got into that habit.

How do you feel about tagging triggers? Do you tag them? How do you determine what is triggering content and what isn’t? It is absolutely ESSENTIAL for me to have triggers tagged for ME, so of course I extend the same courtesy to others. I don't presume to know what triggers people; I've made it very clear that if anyone needs something tagged, they just have to ask, and I'll tag it. No questions asked. (Though if they want to vent about it, I'm open to that too.)

What advice would you give to someone new to rp? Just GO for it! I know it can be scary and intimidating and overwhelming to see a great writer and think, "Gosh I want to interact with them So Much".. .and you know what, sometimes you will get rejected. Sometimes you just won't mesh with muns. Sometimes your characters don't have a very exciting dynamic. But you'll never find those Goldmine RP Partners if you don't at least ASK.

TALENTS OR POWERS: Incredibly strong from all the bell ringing, and he’s very light on his feet regardless of his bulky appearance. And of course he’s able to craft detailed and beautiful work artistically.

WHY SOMEONE MIGHT LOVE THEM: Quasimodo is the most genuine angelic guy you can meet, tbh. He’s always thinking of others first and how his actions could affect them before he acts. Plus I feel like his voice is extremely soothing, especially when he’s comfortable with you and able to keep his stutter under control, though it’s still nice even when he does stutter. [Thanks Tom Hulce~!] He’d be a good one to cuddle up with if you’re worried about something and just listen to him talk. And his eyes are a really pretty color. Honestly, he’d be the best person in the world to be in a relationship with because he’s so fucking wonderful. Did mun ever grow out of her childhood crush on him? The world may never knowwwwwww

WHY SOMEONE MIGHT HATE THEM: I mean, hate is a strong word. I would say that people would get annoyed with him, sure. He’s kind of self-depreciating and always woefully pessimistic. Plus his teachings throughout his life had been so engrained in him, its difficult to get him to loosen up/forget.

HOW THEY CHANGE: He goes from being completely dependent on a man who abuses him emotionally and physically every day to breaking free of that hold. Learning that there are things about him that he can offer to other people regardless of what he’s been told in the past. That’s pretty freaking awesome.

WHY YOU LOVE THEM: This is SUCH a complicated question to answer because I honestly love everything about him. He’s such a genuine person despite all he’s been through, and honestly, I feel like he’d be a prick if he was your regular run of the mill dude. His appearance plays such a large part in his personality and makes him almost more endearing. Once again, when I was a little kid I had such a HUGE crush on him [to which my parents were like “uh...did u watch the movie?”] and to this day, he’s still my Disney husbando. He’s just such a wonderful character and has so many complex parts to him, it’s a shame he gets overlooked or just thought of “the guy who doesn’t get the girl.” He couldn’t have gotten the girl, not because of his looks, but because that’s what made his character so well rounded. lil fun facts to start with !! he’s a capricorn sun, libra moon and pisces rising. also is a slytherin, an i/estp, and of the sanguine temperament. he’s the eldest of two, with a younger sibling in their junior year of high school. while he has a chinese name, it’s nowhere on his birth certificate and more of a tradition thing w his family and not something he really uses. most importantly, he detests people who have fight club as their fav movie :))

let’s start w the basic family background facts n all that ,,, he was born to two rich chinese business owners. his father’s grandfather moved to america from china to expand business opportunities and the likes all those generations ago, while his mother’s family has been in the usa since god knows when, and is a family that has long since resided in nyc. she comes from a Rich Family™, and while his father didn’t come from old money like his mother did, gabriel’s entrepreneur of a great grandfather had paved the way for the wens. they now own a pretty big home appliances and technologies company.

speaking of family background, gabriel does speak mandarin — it is, after all, the language of the future — and celebrates chinese holidays ( such as the lunar new year ) and the likes, but he’s not like super super in touch with his chinese background considering the fact that he’s fourth gen diaspora from his dad’s side and idk what gen from his mom’s.

he’s currently doing his masters degree in the stern school of business @ nyu :) we love a smart icon?? i mean technically he could’ve gone to a better more higher end school bc he went to cornell for his undergrad but since hes more involved in the family business now he wanted to stay close to home + also idt that columbia is a school that clicked w him. yes we know nyu is second rate to ivy league schools but also does gabriel care ? yes he does but not really.

ok also Honestly the biggest reason he got accepted to cornell — like most upper east siders — is probs cause he’s a legacy child ( meaning his parents went to cornell ) and also he’s Rich™. i mean yea he’s smart and all that and went to a prestigious school but Let’s Be Real.

WITH THAT ALL OUT OF THE WAY, let’s get more into the personality stuff?? tbh as u can expect from a Rich Kid he’s pretentious as all fuck and an elitist — there’s no doubt w that. gabriel also makes it pretty obvious that he values money and connections, especially bc he’s a businessman in the making. however, while he may ( and is likely to ) look down on non upper east siders, he’s also not the type to go out of his way to figuratively step on them a la chuck bass or whoever in gg did that. he either just doesn’t bother crossing paths w them, and when he does, unless he needs something from them, he doesn’t really give them much time of the day.

when he does need something from them, though, he’s definitely a charmer. he knows how to play it up, how to seduce and manipulate if need be, and knows how to toe the fine line between admiration, fear and desire — depending on what it is he needs.

tbh also if he weren’t like born a rich kid destined to be a businessman he would probably be working as a bartender now, mostly due to the fact that he’s very good at seeing through people and all that while remaining the enigma himself. too bad in this life, he cares more about money and the company than he does about individual life stories and all that.

uh also he hates hates hates self-righteous people with a passion. like, u got into an ivy league school all on ur own by being hardworking and a Good Person ? good for u but gabe would probs scoff at that. he doesn’t really believe that anyone is ever flawless. he’s not a pessimist, he says, just a realist.

oh yea also as a sidenote, while he is an enigma and also his sidebar talks about how love isn’t soft and all that bs, he had once given his heart away. it was a lifetime ago, in like late high school ( maybe till early college years ) probably, but he did fall in love and eventually gotten his heart broken and fallen out of love. this is also an open wanted connection if anyone wants to do this plot w me :)

2. Muse Information Muse’s name: Michael Age: 17 Birthday: 13 November Height: 6’ 7" Sexuality: Constantly questioning Gender/Pronouns: Cis Male; He/Him 3. Personality (two paragraph) Michael is just as much of an asshole as he was in his childhood. He never has cared much for being popular with his peers just as he’s never cared much for anything. His apathetic and stoic attitude has made it difficult for him to form any close relationships outside the goths, or any sort of relationship for that matter. He has a disdain for anyone he considers to be followers of the “conformist agenda”, whatever the hell that means. Essentially, the school’s elite and most liked are at the very top of his shit list and while it is possible to get Michael to change his opinions, it’s extremely difficult. He’s immensely stubborn so much to the point that it has no doubt gotten on even his closest friends’ nerves. On the opposite end, however, Michael does have his approachable days. To those he considers friends, he isn’t as stern and even tends to dote on them, much like a mother. He’s thoughtful, honest but thoughtful. He doesn’t particularly like being an asshole to those he truly cares about. With the goths, he’s overprotective and affectionate in his own way. He would never go out of his way to purposefully hurt them. He’s deny this if it was brought up, however. His pride still reigns over everything else. 4. Appearance (two paragraph) Michael stand’s at 6’ 7", a very tall boy but not too unusual considering his family is one of the more “vertically blessed” in town. While he was known for his cachexic physique as a child, the goth has grown into himself. He isn’t the most jacked dude in town but he has toned up, more than would be expected give how slender he is. Even disregarding his height, Michael is a very lengthy person. His fingers are elongated and skeletal, and his legs are much longer than his torso, giving off the appearance that the boy is 80% leg. [A bit of a reach but you get the drift.] He’s very easy to pick out in a crowd. His complexion is pale and slightly yellow, like very aged parchment. His eyes are dark, piercing, and judgmental. He has a very attractive face: slender, high cheekbones, blemish-free, and mature. Model-esque, in it’s own way. He wears long dark coats—some simple, some extravagant—and never leaves the house without the comfort of makeup and jewelry. All of the rings, earrings, and necklaces he wears are custom made, handmade by himself of course. No matter where he goes, even if it’s just to grocery shop, Michael is dressed to the nines. His most casual pieces of clothing, that aren’t specifically pajamas, are dress shirts and slacks. His nails are always neat and manicured. His eyebrows always groomed and highlighted with makeup. His hair is never less than perfect. Again, he is a very prideful man and it reigns above everything else.

7. Name at least 5 headcanons

✞ If there’s one thing Michael will put a ton of effort in, it’s his appearance. He wakes up earlier than normal to make sure he is presentable even when staying in. He has a collection of high-end makeup and hair products that he uses on the daily. He also takes great care of skin and uses a variety of moisturizers, cleansers, exfoliators, etc. His daily routine usually takes around 2 hours to complete. He even goes to a fancier salon to get his hair cut and dyed professionally.He buys a lot of his clothing online and will often have it tailored because of his height. ✞ His home life and relationship with his family isn’t the best. His mother and father are constantly fighting and separate usually every other month. His parents usually take their frustrations out on him since he is the one who intervenes in a majority of their fight. They’ve gotten into a habit of kicking him out every so often. He is currently homeless due to this and is staying at the local motel. He also has two older siblings [who can be seen in the background photos in Michael’s home in Dawn of the Posers]: a sister and a brother. The three of them have a tight bond because of how awful their relationship with their parents is. Michael is very protective of his older siblings, and vice versa. ✞ He’s very much a dick and won’t be very nice to a majority of the characters. He is a bit nicer to the Goth Kids but he’ll still pick on them. He sees the other goths as family and will be overly-protective of them to point where he’d be willing to batter someone for hurting them.

✞ Speaking of which, Michael is a brute. He’s very violent when it comes to his fighting style. He won’t go picking fights unprovoked though, so stay on his good side and you’ll be fine. He still suffers from anger issues but he’s managed to push down his rage save for a couple of touchy subjects. ✞ A lot of his interests revolve around horror, the macabre, and things that are generally considered taboo. This, of course, includes horror movies, urban legends, the occult, the supernatural, mythology, demonology, cults and even serial killers [though he does not romanticize or idolize murder]. He’s also big on conspiracy theories. He loves hearing about them even if they’re the most outrageous thing ever. ✞ A secret interest of his is that he’s super into Angels. He knows a lot about them for someone who is not religious in the slightest and dabbles in doing angel readings and contacting them. He finds both demons and angels absolutely fascinating. ✞ He’s also a pyro and is almost always setting random crap on fire. He has a huge collection of Zippo lighters that he uses for this task. He hasn’t started any major fires since the Hot Topic, though. ✞ He still writes poetry. He’s also taken a liking to photography and metal-working. He’ll often take photos of his friends of when he’s just walking around with his Polaroid camera. He learned how to work metal on his own and usually just makes jewelry and charms.

✞ Michael works two jobs to support himself and his bearded dragons. After having been regularly kicked out by his parents in high school, Michael decided to find his own place the moment he could afford. However, the bills soon began to overwhelms him and he had to drop out of college his first semester to take on another job to keep him and his scaly children alive. He currents manages a record store during the day and bartends during the night.

8. Write two decent sized paragraphs that shows how you would portray your muse

May 26th. The end of the school year is merely days away. The senior class of South Park High School are all ready to graduate and move on with their lives. Universities, technical schools, and careers have all been planned and the students are ready to set them into motion. And while his classmates are chattering about move-in dates and fall schedules, Michael still hadn’t locked in on an after-graduation plan. He didn’t have much of a choice. It was either work or school and neither of those appealed to him. There was always travel but one needs money for the expenses and ,in turn, a job or two. It was depressing to think about how he would be the one to be trapped in the frozen wasteland that is South Park, Colorado. While Michael had his heart set on one school in particular, he had never heard back from them. In hindsight, he probably shouldn’t have only applied to one school, kept his options open. Maybe then he’d relate to his classmates’ conversations, even if he only managed to get into Denver U. He wouldn’t still be an outcast. But traditional schooling was never for him, higher education or not. Michael knew what he wanted from a young age. “Pratt Institute or bust” was his mentality but that dream was closer than ever to being shattered. It has now been months since acceptance letters were sent out and Michael had gotten nothing, not even a notice of rejection. He was just about to give up on the idea until he noticed something on the kitchen island: an envelope addressed to him. His breath hitched in his throat the moment the signature yellow insignia that read “PRATT”. Skeletal fingers trembling, the goth opened up the envelope with a such a painfully slow pace that even the world’s laziest sloth would become impatient. Why was he so nervous? There was only two possible outcomes and he had already mentally prepared for rejections months ago. And even if he did manage to be accepted, there was no way he’d be able to afford the travel expenses, much less tuition. Still, he held a sliver of hope in his dark heart that he’d spend his future days far from the mundane world of the small mountain town, living life to the fullest in New York City, as cliche as that thought was. Michael Nguyen-Darbi, Upon review of your application… He could feel his heartbeat resonate in his head. The goth’s vision was becoming hazy. His nerves had completely taken over, making him sickly. Stop stalling and finish reading the letter, Michael. Don’t be a bitch. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, readying himself to finish. As soon as his eyes shot open he read the rest of the line. …we are glad to offer you acceptance to Pratt Institute. In that moment, all time seemed to stop. It was surreal, reading those words. He did it….he actually fucking did it. Michael’s breaths were ragged, labored and audible. The euphoria he felt was overwhelming, so much so that he stumbled back from loss of balance, grabbing onto the kitchen counter for support. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips, growing from the a tiny upwards curl to a bright, toothy grin. Michael took a deep breath, trying to calm himself before letting out a loud “Yes!!” God was he glad no one was home. But he wished someone was. He needed to share this news. Fumbling around in his pocket, Michael searched for his phone. He swiped through his contacts before calling the one under the name ‘Assmunch ☠’. Rising. Riiiiing. “Pete?
