Something I have been idly wondering because I would love to be able to give the Devil May Cry 1 Devil Trigger forms some love/try and draw them sometime--are there any good references/has anyone pulled the models of them from anywhere? I know of the two pictures below but it would be helpful if I could get images without the effects or be able to get some other angles as well.

Also man, I always kinda wished Alastor came back. Ifrit too but I feel like Alastor has a bit more of a implied personality somehow.

I think about the idea of Dante having a airplane license.

Frequently.

In my heart he was taught how to fly a airplane as a payment for a job. Like, it seemed like a great idea at the time, seemed like a cool thing. Surely it would come in handy.

And then sure enough it did. Win for Dante.

But also imagine anyone else (besides Trish) just learning he can fly a airplane honestly hell yeah.

One thing i think devil may cry fans dont talk about enough is that Dante can fly a biplane

There is a part of me that is perpetually tempted to do a big ole video info dumping about dmc stuff because frankly its just fun and I have slowly just been gathering sources and citing them incase I ever decide to pull that trigger and man.

I don’t know where to put this information but I sure do have that interview cited just incase.

I can see why this role is usually given to Dante, but hear me out.

All that time in hell (I should remind you that he FORGOT HUMAN LANGUAGE for some period of time!!!) definetely twisted Vergil, plus he gave up his humanity or at least tried to do it.

Imagine remnants of that family love turning in more kill-consume-conquer mode, in more carnal thing, because this is the closest to love that demons can kiiiiinda understand.

And then multiply it by "two extremely handsome young rivals who always seek each other". Remember how in the begining of the DMC3 Lady said "it's seemed like they derived some sort of twisted pleasure from all that brotherly fighting"? That sorta thing.

And then in reboot Vergil is all that tender loving brother that makes me wanna puke, some oni-chan vibes, if you ask me.

So, to summarize!!! Vergil being just confused and mixing things up, that ends up in that incestous infatuation. And Dante being creeped out.

And!! Imagine Vergil, who already has all that "everyone loves you more, I'm always second" problems, also have "and I, too, can see it, 'cause I love you more than I love myself, and I hate you for it" problem?! How delicious is that???

Anyway I think he'll get over it, and will try not to show it too much because he is too proud to admit that he has a devilish crush on his dumb brother

The thing that I've always wondered about in the DMC universe is Hell (or the Demon world). It is like a totally different planet - with its own sun and all. With the thought of it being like another planet, I like to think that it took millions of years to develop its ecosystems and lineages, just like earth did.

And I also love the detail of how plants and rock in 'The Demon world' are white just like Sparda's descendants hair, kind of implying that its a natural color for demons to have. It's a bit hard to put into words how crazy i am about the world of Devil May Cry.

Please share your headcanons and lore tidbits i need the food......

Okay I have been home alone for the past couple days with a anxious cat and I need to talk about this thing because I accidentally fell down a rabbit hole, and I now have more questions than answers. So, read more if any of ya'll want to see that.

The Stormy JubJub Wig is part of a set. The Stormy JubJub Set.

Take all these items and slap them onto a Jubjub and the guy will look like this.

Beyond just the hair and the entire set being called Stormy, the choice to have the Stormy contacts be Silver (Pre DMCV, Dante, Vergil and Nero typically are portrayed with Silver eyes, they did turn a bit more bluish/greenish in DMCV, though Vergil's eyes have remained pretty silver-y all in all, which is probably due to-well everything that happened to Vergil but that is not important right now we are talking neopets).

And arguably-- though hard to see considering its being worn by an orb and the item's Icon is extremely small, what we see of the Stormy Dress has design elements similar to Vergil's Coat/Vest combo, specifically in terms of collar and the lapels (I don't know why its called the Stormy Dress, could be that its just referring to a dress as an outfit, could be that JubJubs being how they are shaped can't wear pants, I do not know). The shoe's aren't really anything special. The biggest thing of note is that they are a dark-blueish gray which is accentuated by the choice of outline color which is kind of similar to DMCV's Vergil boot cover color.

All things considered, it feels like it could plausibly be a silly Vergil reference.

OH god but which one is the real Vergil????

Except I did one mistake and that was I looked up when the item set was released. It was released on JubJub Day, June 7th, 2018.

3 Days before the Devil May Cry 5 Announcement trailer is shown at E3. And this--this is where I'm having problems because now I am curious. Not curious in the "Oh my god Neopets had a inside man that knew about DMCV Vergil" way, because as great a story as that would be--I don't think so. But curious in the "Who was the person who worked on/designed that outfit. People knew that DMCV was in the works, did that person also know and just took one HELL of a shot with it? Did they choose a Jubjub because that was the one with a day right before E3? Did they choose a black coat/boots to reference the DmC Remake Vergil?" Or perhaps funniest of all--What if this set was not actually a reference to Vergil at all. What if this set is just one major coincidence.

And that is the thing that gets me. I can't tell. I went combing through the item descriptions to see if there was anything that said "THIS IS A DEVIL MAY CRY REFERENCE"

Wig Description- "A healthy mop of silver-white hair." Contact Lens Description- "White lenses perfect for accessorizing any ensemble." Dress Description- "Original black with a trailing cape always spells class." Shoe Description- "Sturdy footwear with the right mix of comfort and style." There isn't anything that is like... Screaming Devil May Cry or Vergil. Like--Sure, silver-white hair but-that's just a descriptor. Style??? I mean. Its clothes. But luckily Neopets archives the all of their old news-so maybe there is something on the day it was released?

MAYBE? They DID Choose a Blue JubJub for their example JubJub. And given Dante and Vergil referring to the Temen Ni Gru incident as a Party throughout Devil May Cry 3 that could-that could be something? But--its ultimately all circumstantial.

Like admittedly--I was not around the fan spaces around Devil May Cry 3 or 4 even. And though I know Devil May Cry 3 is the originator of the "A storm approaching" line, was that line notorious enough to name the whole JubJub outfit after it? Or if the JubJub outfit is a reference to a Remake Vergil--Was there a storm in the Remake??? I just-would love to be able to talk to the person who designed this outfit because--its fun, its funny and cute, and MAN they had good timing. So that's where I'm at.

Anyway, I need to see if there is a corresponding Dante outfit in Neopets. That is all.

Sure, I will take a DMC netflix series in lieu of DMC 6 for now. Besides, bothering with a project like this shows Capcom isn't just intending to sit on the rights, right? (heavy cope)

Between the adult animation boom and Y2K nostalgia, I suppose this was only a matter of time.

And it does seem like it's going to have some care put into it. Between hiring Johnny Yong Bosch again and a few very familiar notes I heard towards the end of the trailer.

I think a AU that could be really fun is Lucia discovering Nero during the 2 years that Dante is in hell. I want Lucia to find Nero and think that Nero is Dante's son and be a mentor figure for him (also Matier could be psuedo grandma figure for Nero).

Partially because I do think Lucia and Nero would be really interesting characters to interact (particularly in regards to the Fortuna incident where the Order was creating artificial demons, the Order's relationship with Sparda vs the Protector's relationship with Sparda, and as characters that struggle with their relationship with their demonic lineage. And on a goofier note, they both have feathery devil triggers. Bird time).

Also conceptually I think it would make Dante's return from Hell even funnier.

i'm in the middle of doing something else right now + i don't normally make posts like this so this is going to be pretty poorly put together, but..

re:dmc1 novel, is gilver actually supposed to be vergil? i personally always assumed he was (+ and was therefore responsible for the resulting massacres etc.) until i last reread a few days ago:

for those unaware: the DMC1 novel mainly features demons that inhibit the corpses of dead humans. there are some instances of demons that don't possess any corpses which are described as "scythe-swinging shadows", but the main focus are the possessed corpses.

“Humanity was born a race of our slaves.” Gilver pressed harder on his weapon, and a thin stream of red blood rolled down Grue's neck. “Inhabiting the corpses taxes our strength and limits our numbers. But soon we will be able to migrate to this plane in our own prepared bodies.” (pg. 120)

The bandaged man [Gilver] radiated an aura of decay. (pg. 149)

however, dante does mention that gilver "doesn't smell like" the other demons. i left in the rest of the lines in mainly because i found gilver's characterization and dialogue here interesting:

“What are you, man? You don't smell like those other things.” “You don't need to know. In any case, I'm going to crush you.” Dante shrugged. “That's a fitting line for a villain.” “Your absurd labels are meaningless.” Gilver cackled behind his bandages. “The victor will be called the hero by future generations. Arguing about good and evil is pointless.” (pg. 172)

addt. gilver repeatedly separates himself from not only humans, but also dante:

“Do you have any questions, Dante? You have treacherous blood in you.” (pg. 172)

[...] Gilver finally pronounced. “You have our blood coursing through your veins. You're the mongrel half-breed offspring of a human and a demon. And you betrayed our side.” (pg. 173)

“This is your world,” he finally said. “Yes. The demon world is replacing yours. It will spread out from this nexus until finally everything is consumed.” Gilver hefted his sword, seemingly recovered from Dante's last attack. “This place is a cancerous blight to incomplete souls like you. [...] (pg. 180-181)

..... which is interesting, because throughout all of the novel dante has had trouble existing for any amount of time in the demon realm. whatever amount of devil blood in him doesn't help him and he struggles to stay awake and fight, even at the barrier between the two worlds. that said, gilver very obviously has access to some amount of demon power, mainly as shown through their battle in which he dons his.. demon armour lol

there are multiple other things that i didn't feel like touching upon right now, and the biggest issue is that... this is goikeda and kamiya's vision, not itsuno's. so it's possible that this IS actually vergil as the two wanted to write him, but considering this takes place just before DMC1.. it really could be possible that vergil's just been something considered dead, right?

... or maybe it is vergil and he just has blood on his hands and wanted dante to suffer, like i initially assumed. if anyone has any opinions or disagrees with me, please feel free to say as much :P i'd really like to analyze this book more and try to relate it to other DMC lore but it really is pretty difficult with how much has been retconned throughout the franchise. thanks for reading!
