"Ohhh at least Mr. Skellington was very kind enough to stay and extend his visit jus' a bit longer at the California manor so most of the mortals didn't notice us missing from the scare fest! So we have plenty of time to get the Valentines- oh s'cuse me- "Valen-dies" Day treats and cards ready while Jack and his friend clean up the halls of the manor!"
Happy Halloween! How goes it on your end of the Spirit Realm?
"Hmm..."
I'LL EDIT IT! NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW!
"As busy as maggots in a fresh corpse. You know, we had Jack and his fiends stop by for a while. Then I caught a horrific case of the boo flu... and then Dorian caught it... Then Victor and Sally and... We just passed it around like the unwanted tuna casserole at a wake.
"Now with Valen-dies day approaching, I'll have to get busy creating cards. I tell you, old friend, the work is never done. Or it simply rises from the grave once it's finished to wreck havoc upon my poor schedule again."
#Granny#Abigail#Ooc: I'm not gonna lie I found it extremely odd that Disneyland left up the Holiday overlay until the 30th of this month#Usually it goes down after the first week of January and last time they left the overlay up was in 2020 because they were refurbing it#End ooc

So I’ve been thinking: what if Disneyland did haunted houses in the same style as Halloween Horror Nights.
Here are my ideas
The Haunted Mansion
This one is pretty obvious. Basically it would be the story of the Haunted Mansion but as a walk around attraction instead of a ride. I also imagined that all of the characters would be live actors instead of animatronics.
Nightmare Before Christmas
Another pretty obvious one. I feel like it would be easy for them to follow either the events of the movie or the Haunted Mansion overlay, but I think it would be cool if it was a new storyline that focuses on the other holiday worlds.
Disney Villains
For this one, I think it would take a page from the Universal Monster Houses from HHN. I feel like it would be a hodgepodge of different villains. I was thinking the villains could be The Evil Queen, Maleficent, Cruella, the Horned King, Ursula, the Sanderson Sisters, Scar, and Hades.
Star Wars
So, for Star Wars, I feel like there’s a lot they could do. However, I think the best choice would be doing something on Star Wars’s scariest planet: Dathomir. It would be the guests being terrorized by Nightsisters.
Marvel
So, I feel like the obvious choice for Marvel would be Marvel Zombies. Disney has even made a Captain America costume. However, I also want some inspiration from the Marvel HHN mouse, and having symbiotes involved in some way.
Gravity Falls
There’s a lot they could do with this. I was thinking that this could take place during Weirdmageddon. The guests would have to dodge many of the effects and creations by Bill Cipher. Also, at the entrance of the maze, there’d be a Grunkle Stan roasting people.
The Owl House
For this one, I was thinking it would be about escaping Belos’s castle, dodging both Belos and the Collector along the way. Like the Stranger Things houses at HHN, there would be actors playing characters like Luz, Eda, etc, interacting with guests.
Goosebumps
So, Disney and Goosebumps have a connection. In the 90s Goosebumps had a live show and mirror maze at Disney MGM studios. Disney is also working on a Disney+ Goosebumps show. This one would feature the guests being terrorized by Slappy, the Haunted Mask, and other characters.
Doctor Who
So, since Doctor Who is going to be on Disney+, this would be another possible house. It would take more of a Sci-Fi spin with the Daleks and Cybermen, but when the Weeping Angels appear, that’s when the straight up horror begins. Also, there would be three Masters appearing (John Simm, Michelle Gomez, and Sacha Dhawan) to roast the guests

what do you mean clockboy is hibernating? never been to disneyland !!
so every year in mid-October at Disneyland, specifically (they don't do this at Disney World and afaik no longer do this in any of the international parks, but I need to do more research!) they close small world until the start of the holiday season here (usually the second Friday of November, or at least it has been since I moved to SoCal) to install the Christmas overlay!
During the closure they install all the inside set pieces and finish installing string lights on the facade AND Clockboy gets his Santa hat during the closure (see below)
(top is just Him in his hat, bottom photos are how everything looks at night! It's genuinely my favorite thing they do at Disneyland)
After the holidays end (usually the week after the new year), the ride closes again to go back to normal and opens usually within 3-4 weeks
during both times the ride is closed, they turn Clockboy off so he doesn't move or chime in the hours or anything, so him being off, to me, means he's sleeping (since I gotta assume he turns off when the park is closed at night n all that) and his extended sleepy time is essentially a hibernation
so this yearly "hibernation" thing usually only lasts 8 weeks total but this year, it started earlier than usual to allow for some refurbishments to be done inside and outside the ride and it's been agonizing even though it's only been closed for a week 🥲 fortunately they're splitting the refurb so the ride will reopen for Christmas, but once it closes again, it'll be for another 3(+?) months, so it's a very extended "separation" for us, basically
which I know sounds silly and I should be happy I'm privileged enough to be able to go to Disneyland at all etc etc, but it is genuinely hard for me to see him absolutely still and quiet... Also because they're doing exterior stuff currently I'm irrationally worried about him 😭 keep having weird dreams that something bad is going to happen to him (like his face falling off or something equally absurd)
the refurbs are definitely needed and I'm excited to see how everything looks and how well everything is running once ALL the refurbs are done next spring but boy howdy is it hard to convince myself to be excited when I'm presently sad about it

Disneyland secret #386
It is always exciting to see what culinary craftsmanship has taken place in the Haunted Mansion every holiday season. This year’s ginger bread house. As explained on the Micechat website: Many of you might be asking: Who is Von Ginger? It’s not a character original to the NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS or to the Haunted Mansion, instead he’s a special disembodied character created just for the Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction overlay. This year’s gingerbread house offers details on the character — he wears an ominous cloak and resides in a mausoleum just like the apparition that appears towards the end of the attraction in the graveyard. For the holiday season, he seems especially excited about holiday fruit cake and you can see his sharp teeth on full display with a cheeky grin as he holds up his holiday dessert.

Mickey's PhilharMagic Review | Disney World
Mickey's PhilharMagic is a beloved 3D concert experience located in the Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. This whimsical attraction takes guests on a magical journey alongside Donald Duck as he explores beloved Disney animated films while trying to retrieve Mickey's sorcerer hat. With stunning visuals, immersive special effects, and a delightful musical score, Mickey's PhilharMagic is a must-see for guests of all ages.
Table of Contents - General Ride Information - Location - Height Requirements - Ride Duration - Genie+ and Lightning Lane - Single Rider - Rider Switch - DAS - Early Entry - Best Times to Ride - Average Wait Times - History and Design - Architecture and Theme - Development - Ride Experience - Queue - Pre-Show - Main Show - Music - 3D and Special Effects - Holiday Overlay and Pet Cemetery - Tips for Riders - Comparison with Other Disney Parks' PhilharMagic Attractions - Disneyland Resort - Tokyo Disneyland - Hong Kong Disneyland - Disneyland Paris - Conclusion
General Ride Information Location Fantasyland, Magic Kingdom Genie+ and Lightning Lane Mickey's PhilharMagic is included in the paid Genie+ service at Walt Disney World, allowing guests to reserve a Lightning Lane entry time to skip the standby queue. The ability to book a Lightning Lane for this attraction through Genie+ is subject to availability and pricing that can vary by date. On busier days, Genie+ reservations for PhilharMagic may run out earlier in the day. Individual Lightning Lane selections can also be purchased separately for PhilharMagic if Genie+ is unavailable, or you prefer not to purchase that service. Single Rider Mickey's PhilharMagic does not offer a Single Rider line, as the theater-style seating does not make this an efficient option. Rider Switch The Rider Switch service is available at PhilharMagic, allowing one parent/guardian to wait with non-riders (e.g. children) while the rest of the party experiences the attraction. The waiting parent can then board through the Lightning Lane entrance without waiting in the regular queue again. DAS (Disability Access Service) Guests with disabilities can utilize the DAS Advance planning option to reserve a return time for PhilharMagic and bypass the standby line upon their return through an alternative entrance. Best Times to Ride The best times to experience Mickey's PhilharMagic with shorter wait times are: - Early morning shortly after park opening - During parades and fireworks shows when crowds are drawn away - Late evening closer to park closing Average Wait Times On most days, the average standby wait time for PhilharMagic is 10–30 minutes. However, wait times can spike higher (45+ minutes) during peak periods like holidays and summer.
History and Design Mickey's PhilharMagic opened on October 8, 2003, replacing the beloved Mickey Mouse Revue attraction. The show building features a Renaissance-inspired exterior, complete with musical motifs and royal blue and gold accents. Inside, guests are transported to a grand concert hall where Mickey is set to conduct a magical orchestra. The attraction was developed as a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Feature Animation, marking the first time the classic Disney characters were fully modeled and animated using computer animation. Legendary animators, including Glen Keane (Ariel) and Nik Ranieri (Lumiere), returned to bring their characters to life in this groundbreaking 3D experience.
Ride Experience Upon entering the queue, guests are immersed in the musical theme of the attraction, with hidden Mickeys scattered throughout the decor. The pre-show area sets the stage for the main event, as Mickey prepares to conduct the orchestra and Donald is tasked with getting the instruments ready. As the main show begins, Donald dons Mickey's sorcerer hat and is whisked away on a magical journey through classic Disney animated films, including: - Beauty and the Beast - The Lion King - The Little Mermaid - Aladdin - Peter Pan The 150-foot wide screen, one of the largest ever created, combined with 3D effects, scents, and water effects, creates an unforgettable experience for guests. The musical score features iconic songs from the featured films, such as "Be Our Guest," "I Just Can't Wait to Be King," and "A Whole New World."
Tips for Riders - The theater is quite large, so arrive early for the best seats. - The 3D effects are more impressive from the center of the theater. - Don't forget to grab your 3D glasses before entering the main show area. - Keep an eye out for hidden Mickeys throughout the queue and pre-show area. - Keen-eyed guests can spot a hidden pet cemetery in the queue, paying homage to the Haunted Mansion attraction.
Comparison with Other Disney Parks' PhilharMagic Attractions Mickey's PhilharMagic has been replicated at several other Disney parks worldwide, each with slight variations: - Disneyland Resort (Disney California Adventure): Opened in 2019, this version is nearly identical to the Magic Kingdom attraction, with an updated scene featuring Pixar's Coco added in 2021. - Tokyo Disneyland: Opened in 2011, replacing the Mickey Mouse Revue attraction. - Hong Kong Disneyland: Opened in 2005 in the Fantasyland Concert Hall. - Disneyland Paris: Opened in 2018 in the Discoveryland Theatre, with a unique post-show featuring Minnie Mouse.
Conclusion Mickey's PhilharMagic is a timeless attraction that showcases the magic of Disney animation and music. With its stunning visuals, immersive effects, and heartwarming story, it's no wonder this 3D concert experience continues to delight guests at Disney parks around the world. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned Disney fan, Mickey's PhilharMagic is a must-see attraction that will leave you smiling and humming along to its unforgettable tunes.
