The man would be handled. Handled until he wished he were never born, and long before then he would vanish from Fish's mind. Almost as soon as he was taken off, a drink was set in front of her. Her men knew how to keep her happy. "Pity, you have the skills," she drawled, picking up her glass. "And I do so love seeing a woman take down a man's ego." She smirked over the rim of her glass and took a long sip. She considered the proposal, leaning forward on the bar. "I'm always on the lookout for new talent. How about we start with one night, and see how it goes? Maybe I'll make you my regular girl. If you impress me some more."

Dinah's shoulders rolled back, not wanting to stand down in such an overwhelming presence. Her eyes flitted to the man wincing from her hold and back to Mooney. She let out a breath when she said she would make an exception. The last thing she needed was to get on the wrong side of people. Seeing the man be carted away, Dinah's eyes followed and hoped it would just be as simple as tossing him out of the door. As Fish spoke about owing her a drink, Dinah shook her head and smiled politely. "Oh, don't worry. I'm just glad it didn't go any further." Her back straightened however when she asked if she was looking for work. "Yeah, I am. Not as security though." She admitted, wondering if that was the reason for the suggestion. "I'm a freelance singer. I perform across a couple of places in Gotham. I know Hypno has a preference for live music and thought I'd see what the place was like. See if there was an opportunity here." Dinah's fingers weaved together as she waited for Mooney's reaction. "I can put on a show. Not to sound arrogant but I know what to do up there."

Diminishing Karen's importance in Frank's life because he also saved Madani is utterly ridiculous. Frank's reactions in those two scenes are not the same.

Propaganda
Tallulah Bankhead (Lifeboat, Devil and the Deep, The Cheat)— Fierce, outspoken, uninhibited, and witty. An amazing actress who strongly supported civil rights and was unashamed of her sexuality.
Dinah Sheridan (Genevieve, The Railway Children)— It kills me that this absolutely stunning jewel of a woman felt compelled to cut short her career, just at the point that Genevieve was flinging her into the stratosphere, because she married the managing director of Rank film company (the one whose logo is the strong man hitting the huge gong) and he made her give up her career. Made a comeback in 1970 to play the mother in the railway children (starring jenny agutter), but how much luminous work did we lose? Oh I can't bear it.
This is round 1 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut]
Tallulah:
please read the personal life section of this woman’s wikipedia. a bisexual (or ambisextrous as she called herself) legend
She was bisexual. About her film The Devil and the Deep she said 'Dahling, the only reason I accepted that part was to fuck that divine Gary Cooper'.

This was not hero shit. It was hero-adjacent-shit, which wasn't much better. IGH was not an entity that went down with the death of one man, oh no. Karl Malus' work was still out there, evidently. Someone was slinging 'power givers' on the street, and while it was probably bogus, she still couldn't just let it lie. She'd followed some lowlifes, taken some pictures of the exchanges, but there wasn't enough evidence here yet. "I was hoping you'd give me an idea," Jessica sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Or that we could at least get drunk and pretend to brainstorm."
Tumblr media
all i gotta do is get this information to the right people @akastartatthebeginning
Tumblr media
Dinah peered over Jessica's shoulder at the computer screen. "Sketchy people doing sketchy shit," she muttered as she glanced at the pictures. "Problem is knowing the right people." The blonde woman sighed and walked over to the ragged couch to plop down, draping her feet over the edge. "So, Jones, whatcha gonna do about it?" she asked. Dinah was out of the hero business, but helping an old friend with a case wasn't hero business. Besides, mention the word hero this close to Jessica Jones and the dark haired woman might break out in hives.

if you imagine this scene as zatanna and dinah, it makes it a lot more tolerable. someone should edit that. or draw that. or do something that removes ollie entirely and makes it zatanna instead lol.

Well, in terms of news to wake up to, my DMs being full of people rushing to tell me solicits have a Dinah solo is certainly up there.
So the good thing is that I already know Dinah is cursed and not allowed to have a decent solo that I can recommend to other people by DC, so I don’t have any expectations to raise.
Even if, were I a less cynical person, that premise is right in my wheelhouse of what I’d love to see for Dinah.
But I’m not getting excited, you understand. Even as it sounds like we might finally get Dinah Drake confirmed retconned back to her JSA pre-Flashpoint self, and Ted Grant is in it, and my brain has a dozen directions such a story could go if I were writing it…I am not allowed to have any hopes.
Even without discussing the writer, it’s a Black Canary solo, and Black Canary solos are never anything that I can hand to someone to explain my love for Dinah, so why would DC start now?
On the other hand this will almost certainly not contain Kurt Lance or a white slavery storyline so it’s starting out middle of the pack for a Black Canary solo…

Saying that Karen's not important to Frank because he also saved Madani is so misguided.
Frank saved Madani because he doesn't hurt innocents, and she was never meant to get hurt. It's why he was so angry with Lieberman for hitting her and why he went back to save her. But that is not the same as him saving Karen because she's his family and he loves her. It's not the same as the absolute fear and dread on his face when Karen's in danger. When Karen's in danger, Frank can't even form words to express how worried he is and he has to resort to slamming his hand down on a table to convey what he's feeling.
When he saved Madani, there was no risk of him getting injured, but when he needed to rescue Karen? He willfully injured himself because it was the fastest way to get to her. Because his pain is secondary to hers. Frank can handle pain. What he can't handle is the thought of Karen in pain and agony.
