WTNV quick rundown - Live Show - The Investigators - bonus tracks
Featuring the voices of Flor De Liz Perez as Lacy Hernez, Kate Jones as Michelle Nyugen, Wil Wheaton as Earl Harlan, Mark Gagliardi as John Peters, you know, the farmer?, Molly Quinn as Melony Pennington, Jason Webley as Louie Blasko, Jackson Publick as Hiram McDaniels, Mara Wilson as the Faceless Old Woman, Jasika Nicole as Dana Cardinal, Kevin R Free as Kevin of Desert Bluffs.
This is the bonus tracks from the live show, I recommend reading the live show run down first.
Lacey's bonus track is the same information about the electric company that Cecil himself reads out in the live show, but this time Lacey gives the information. She alsos adds that the electric company might be sad because it's going through relationship issues with the gas company.
Michelle comes on air (despite now hating radio and liking podcasts, a reverse of earlier this year) to announce the first ever Dark Owl Fest, an electro-witch-hop music festival. She used six months of DO's income to rent out all of Mission Grove park and is in deep financial trouble because of it, meaning she has to sell tickets even though she wants to be the only one there and it is in fact happening right at that moment as she speaks.
She's actually deeply upset that she decided to do this, as she doesn't want to lose the store and doesn't know why she thought she could do this. Even so, she instantly claims that she is absolutely fine. Also apparently NV has bands called The Murderer, the Dangerous Criminal and ofc the Killers. Also Cecil apparently whispers 'radio radio radio' to himself when he's not on air.
Earl's segment is somewhat a rehash of the shows announcement of the dinner, but he adds extra info about the courses etc. He also tells us that he has a moustache, can remember his sons name most days and always calls him to say he loves him, mutters 'you can do this Earl' into the mirror every morning and also switches places with his mirror self every morning.
John Peters (you know, the farmer?), is on the 'phone' as an eye witness (one of the top three witnesses behind foot witness and kidney witness) to the murder. Except he really just wanted to tell a story about how he was abducted by aliens. Cecil is apathetic to this story and slightly disgruntled that John Peters pretended to be a witness. In NV, witnesses are people paid to witness whatever crime you want them to say they witnessed.
Melony is here for computer tips. She is the creator of Fey, from WZZZ, the number station. She says that Fey is absolutely NOT sentient and that the numbers and tones are codes for foreign spies, as well as a few recipes and poems. Her tips are mostly cryptic things as is the NV norm, like saying personal computers are over friendly and anything can be a computer.
Louise Blasko is here again for his music segment. Carlos thinks Cecil would look cute playing a ukelele, so Cecil is interested in learning to play music (but he also might install a pipe organ in their home). Louie is, as usual, off-key and very chaotic.
Hiram tells us that he has been served 5 life sentences, to be served concurrently by each head. They say that since their Frank Chen disguise was found out they're instead going to diguise each other as a different coloured head. This doesn't work because Cecil can see them talking. They threaten to remove his eyes till Cecil vaguely plays along without incident.
The FOW appears in Cecil's studio. She says she knows who the murderer is, but doesn't tell us. She instead tells us about a citizen called Tristan Cortez whoses tv remote she has hidden behind his eye requiring him to use a knife to remove it. She also claims that meat does not come from animals and doesn't clarify further.
According to Dana, murder is a rare threat in NV. She gives tips for dealing with a murderer the way you would deal with a bear or a wild cat. She says it's good to talk to Cecil again and that she cares for him.
Kevin jams Cecil's signal so that they can talk. He seems to genuinely just want to speak to Cecil again and insists that they are friends. He says that Cecil should try and see things from his point of view ("I mean not literally. Not like, pull your eyes out and jam them still bloody into my skull.") Kevin tries to use a sports metaphor but has a poor grasp on sports. Basketball is on ice in NV. Kevin doesn't know what ice is.
Kevin says he always tries to see things from multiple points of view, even if that means sympathising with the murderer. He says that everyone sees and hears things different from their peers. He uses this as a way to say that he was 'equally' hurt by NV revolting against Strex and making him lose his job but forgives Cecil, so he hopes Cecil with forgive him and allow them to start getting along. He then audibly smiles. Cecil is horrorified and unjams the signal.

*Fornite dances with Annie* Hey fuckos I have designed human ID mask versions of the Andromeda 5 based entirely on what shapes they are and what human equivalent proportions can best suit their natural shape. When thinking about shapes, I accidentally put Ra’ad in a niqab and thought ‘hey yo this actually kinda works’ and just went the fuck off.
So, ID masks- do you think the plumbers provide them to aliens that choose to live on Earth (before OV got Earth aware of them being real) so that they can blend in? Do you think that there’s a customisation option to ‘fit’ the shape of someone and match it with an accurate size to human proportion ID? Do you think that folks without a face can just choose to go ‘so there are cultures that hide your face’ or ‘i’m gonna make myself look like my prison’ and just go off?
I think about that a little bit.
#andromeda 5#ra'ad#bivalvan#galapagus#andreas#andreas ben 10#p'andor#annie andromeda#ben 10#ben 10 oc#human#technically they're not human they're aliens with a human diguise#this was fun- nice way to say 'screw you' to same face syndrome#that and i just think human designs are neat because you can just go off#technically galapagus and bivalvan are the only ones with enough of a face to emote in ways a human can understand#(p'andor doesn't count even with canon p'andor because his vibes are terminal)#none of them can do human range of expression (galapagus has the most but is limited by reptilian physiology)#ra'ad at least has something - his eyes - which p'andor in 'i am totally safe' mode cannot even compete with#mr easy-bake-oven looking ass

Tae Shimura's Involvement with Odd Jobs Part 5 - FINAL ARC
This is my notes where I investigate the question of "consistency in writing Otae."
In this post I will focus on Otae and her dynamics with the Odd Jobs. I will avoid mentioning Shinsengumi and the other girls as much as possible.
My methodology for this is keeping track how Otae bumps/runs into Odd Jobs every time she appears and see if we can establish a pattern. Her actions in the a particular lesson is also evaluated when necessary.
Depending on the circumstances Odd Jobs can mean
Gintoki himself
Gintoki/Shinpachi/Kagura/Sadaharu
THIS WHOLE SERIES INCLUDE
PART 1 LESSONS 1-362 : ESTABLISHMENT OF CHARACTERS/EARLY ARCS
PART 2 LESSONS 372-410: ODD JOBS- CENTRIC ARCS AND BE FOREVER YOROZUYA
PART 3 LESSONS 437-550: MISC. ADVENTURES AND FAREWELL SHINSENGUMI ARC
PART 4 LESSONS 575-669 RAKUYO AND SILVER SOUL ARC
PART 5 LESSONS 670-704 TIMESKIP AND FINAL ARC
PART 6 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
At the end of each post, I summarized the recurring themes surrounding Otae + Odd Jobs and how their dynamics slowly changed over time. Also included are some of the dynamics Otae established with Snack Otose, Kabukichou and the Joui 4.
LESSONS 670-690 TIMESKIP ARC
L670 - Otae destroys the tv after watching Hasegawa being reported on. She had grown to dislike him because of his new lifestyle and how he has not gone back to his wife. She has an information (and mercenary?) network around Kabukichou and she plans to destroy his reputation.
Notes: remember that Otae and Hasegawa were good friends before the timeskip. She hates him now because she knew him very well. Think about it like blocking a former friend of FB..except that Otae wants him to pay for his actions. It's petty but hey, this is gintama, everyone is petty to a certain point.
OShinpachi go to Snack Otose to deliver news about Kondou. Otose thought Otae married Kondou. Otose also thought she got lonely without Gintoki. Kondou actually married princess Bubbles (the alien gorilla) and is training to be her househusband in the Shimura dojo. Otae is still single and is the current Empress of a Kabukichou.
Notes: this whole schtick took a whole gdmn page i have to include it
L683 The first person Gintoki spots upon his return to Edo is Otae walking towards him. Panicking, he immediately runs back to the underwear shop where HIjikata and Yamazaki were posing as mannequins, buys a white brief and put it on his face to conceal his identity from Otae, and he posed as another mannequin.
L684 Otae manhandles mannequin!Yamazaki much to Hijikata and Gintoki's shock and fear. Gintoki and Hijikata try to escape but Otae catches mannequin!Hijikata and throws him to stop mannequin!Gintoki from completely running away. Otae then brings the "mannequins" to her dojo and uses them as practice dummies for her weight loss/appreciation kendo program. Kyuubei appears and Otae and her talk about Shinpachi still running the Yorozuya and other life updates. Otae also tells Kyuubei that she is sure Gintoki would like to see her in a wedding dress and in how Edo currently looks. Gintoki and Hijikata hear their conversation.
Notes: Hijikata didn't recognize Otae off the bat but Gintoki did in one glance and when Otae was still far away. It was Yamazaki who informed Hijikata that the woman in front of them was Shimura Tae.
L686 In Yoshiwara, Sarutobi tells Otae, Kyuubei, Tsukuyo that Gintoki had returned to Edo. They don't recognize Gintoki in Takasugi diguise in front of them. Gintoki is able to escape from them after the women unsuccessfully try to coerce "Takasugi" to spill. Hijikata gets captured instead. Otae is the only one who interrogated Hijikata. Hijikata later admits that the women have already met Gintoki.
The women then all rush out to look for Gintoki except for Otae. Otae runs towards the Odd Jobs Office to inform Shinpachi. Gintoki was already heading to Kabukichou though. Gintoki spots Shinpachi on the bridge. He remembers Otae talking about how Shinpachi was still running the Odd Jobs. Naruku try to ambush GIntoki on the bridge.
Notes: Otae always does her own thing and makes sure Shinpachi is aware of every news about Gintoki. She unknowingly also brought the news about Shinpachi to Gintoki.
L690 While Kagura is pursuing Gintoki (she is not sure that it was him), Shinpachi had stayed behind the Odd Jobs office. Otae was able to find Shinpachi there and tell him that Gintoki had returned. This prompts Shinpachi to head off and look for Gintoki too. Other women are still looking for Gintoki while Otae runs home or informs the townspeople(?)
LESSONS 697-704 FIGHT FOR THE TERMINAL
L697 Otae leads the other ladies and the town to help Shinpachi and Kagura grant Gintoki's wish. Otae brings the other 3 girls to snack Otose. (iirc this is the first time in the manga we see Tsukuyo and Kyuubei enter the place)
Otae: "We may not know what that man's wish is, but we know what sort of wishes that man has granted up to this point."
L698 Otae and the townspeople all agree to become Odd Jobs's Yorozuya. Otae led everyone to be the yorozuya of the yorozuya.
Otae: Shin-chan, if you're going to become a yorozuya that can grant Gin-san's wish then... we will grant your wish and become a yorozuya.
Otose and Tama Jr. bring in Odd Jobs' old uniforms. The amantos start attacking the town.
Jirocho: "Get goin'. We'll safeguard the place for you guys to come home to. So go tell that guy to come home."
^^^Jirocho, Saigo, PIrako and the Yakuza fight to defend the town and help open up the path for Shinpachi/Kagura/Otae and etc. to run up to the terminal.
L699 While Gintoki/Katsura/Takasugi were running to the terminal's upper levels and being pursued by Amanto, Matsudaira and Shinsengumi open up the path for the other fighters to infiltrate the terminal. Otae is seen wielding her naginata along with the Kabukichou gang and Nobume.
Joui 3 watch the commotion happening on the ground floor. Otae block two polearm-wielding Amantos with her naginata just in time for Shinpachi and Kagura to give her backup and help defeat the Amanto surrounding her. That's how Gintoki finally sees the current Shinpachi and Kagura fight. He had been watching them from above.
Notes: Do I still have to point out how Otae helped Gintoki see the current Shinpachi and Kagura or nah?
Otae follows wherever Shinpachi and Kagura are running btw. She's just not shown in the panels all the time.
Each of the major fight groups stay on a level to fend off incoming Amantos, continuously opening paths for Shinpachi/Kagura/Otae to charge in. Shinsengumi act as their vanguard.
L700 Shinpachi/Kagura/Otae keep running to upper levels in pursuit of Takasugi/Gintoki/Katsura. Shinsengumi act as their vanguard.
Kagura: Sadaharu, even if you're not here, I promise we will protect this place. We promise we'll protect the home for you to return to so please..please..
Note: whenever "home" is mentioned it always show Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae. This happened in Farewell Shinsengumi arc too.
Shinpachi / Kagura / Shinsengumi see Katsura being attacked. Shinsengumi separate themselves from Odd Jobs in order to assist Katsura, while still opening up the path for Odd Jobs to go to higher levels.
Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae notice an explosion 3 levels above them. That is where Gintoki and Takasugi were. The three are met with amantos as they try to climb higher floors. Kagura runs ahead defeating the amantos pursuing her while behind her, the Shimuras are also fighting Amantos off.
Note: yep Otae held her ground against amantos with her naginata and fought beside her brother. Sorachi didn't draw it much but the Shimuras did defeat the enemy amantos pursuing them.
At this point Gintoki hits Takasugi to save him away from the enemy. Gintoki and Takasugi's enemy land on a crumbling floor and GIntoki falls with the enemy. However Gintoki left his bokuto behind on Takasugi's floor.
As Gintoki is falling, the enemy Naruku try to attack him but Kagura and Shinpachi throw their weapons to stop the enemy and to help Gintoki.
An Amanto fires on Kagura's location, causing her to be thrown back. The movement causes Sadaharu's spirit ball to slip away from her clothes and fall towards Gintoki.
Notes: thus begins the longest fall in history jfc. Otae is still with Shinpachi btw. Only Kagura's location was hit with a blast. They are still three floors below Takasugi's location.
L701 Upon seeing Sadaharu's spirit ball fall to the ground, Kagura and Shinpachi immediately jump to try to catch it. Otae screams for Shinpachi when he jumped. Seems like there are no more Amantos left on the top floors.
Otae looks on as Sadaharu is released from the spirit ball and the Odd Jobs are finally reunited...while still falling. Sadaharu bites off GIntoki's head as usual and eats him.
Otae: Sadaharu-kun and you two just wanted to see Gin-san again, didn't you? Shinpachi/Kagura: GYAAA! SADAHARU! Otae: Oh I guess not.
Notes: ...dunno how gravity works in this universe tbh.
Takasugi finds GIntoki's bokuto in the rubble and takes it with him. Meanwhile Odd Jobs finally reunited and have a nice moment on a lower floor. Sadaharu was the one who landed all of them there. Sadaharu poops out Gintoki's proper form. Gintoki picks up a bladed polearm as he breezed above the amantos. Everyone fight together with the Odd Jobs. Even Hasegawa comes crashing in while driving Prince Hata's car. Hasegawa drives them to the upper levels.
Notes: gravity is non existent in the terminal.
As for Otae, she was left on the same floor where Shinpachi jumped off. That floor was 3 levels below where Takasugi was. After she saw Odd Jobs finally reunited..she just continued to climb up to the higher levels, while bringing her naginata along.
I told ya'll Otae does her own thing while everyone is caught up in smth else. XD
Takasugi, who is already very badly hurt, had been using Gintoki's bokuto as a cane. Otae managed to catch up to him. Upon seeing her, Takasugi, throws Gintoki's bokuto at her. Otae tucks the bokuto into her kimono belt and just..continues to follow Takasugi even though he disappeared from her sight.
Notes: Good god i love her so much lmao. I think Otae has an idea that whatever they are looking for is located where Takasugi was heading so she just pushed on forward.
L702 Takasugi reaches Utsuro at the top first and confronts him. Hasegawa's car seemed to have reached a floor level closer to where Otae and Takasugi where. Meanwhile Otae had been running, crawling, trying to follow Takasugi amidst the falling debris. Just when a huge slab of concrete was about to fall on Otae, Gintoki saved her with the polearm he got from the Amanto. Shinpachi and Kagura hit away the other falling debris from her. Gintoki and Otae finally reunite.
Gintoki's head gets hit with a rock and he bleeds a bit from it. Otae return Gintoki's bokuto back to him.
Notes: Gintoki's bleeding head upon meeting Otae is reminiscent of Lesson1, Otae's meeting of Dozaemon, and when Otae's boulders hit Gintoki during the Siege of Kabukicho, etc. (there's actually more lol)
Takasugi: "We've got lots of things we want to talk to you about. So much has happened since you've been gone. Since then, we took different paths again and again and clashed with each other again and again but we came back here to where everything began. You." -> when takasugi tells this to shoyo/utsuro, it showed the manga panels show Otae crawling amidst the crumbling building, almost getting crushed by a slab of concrete and eventually getting saved by Odd Jobs.
"To where eveything began. You" -> otae and gintoki meeting again.
Takasugi: "Their..his sword isn't something that is swung for the past anymore. Now he swings it for that by his side, and for the future and... my role is his companion." -> shows Otae giving the bokuto to Gintoki.
After being completely reunited, Odd Jobs + Otae keep running towards where Takasugi is with Gintoki in the lead. An Altana blast makes a lot of the floors crumble and fall. Because of this Gintoki was separated from Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae again. Gintoki finds himself at the place where Takasugi!Utsuro is.
L703 Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae try to remove the debris separating them from Gintoki. Meanwhile Shoyo has managed to find himself in Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae's location.
Notes: When Takasugi mentions "I leave the future to you." The panel shows Shinpachi and Kagura.
Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae accompany Shoyo to the control room. Shinpachi have a heart-to-heart with Shoyo about GIntoki and their experiences, etc. Shinpachi thanks Shoyo. Meanwhile Takasugi dies in Gintoki's arms.
L704 Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae have brought Shoyo to the control room. Shoyo decides to contain the energy into his own body. He tries to make Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae abandon him to his fate.
Shoyo: I am a feckless man who could not even protect his disciples. Bu that is why all of you must protect the future that they have woven.
"must protect the future" -> show Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae / Sadaharu
"that they have woven" -> show Otae
Even if it was dangerous Shinpachi / Kagura / Sadaharu stand beside Shoyo to guard him and keep him company. Meanwhile Otae runs back outside the control room to find Gintoki and bring him to them.
Notes: Look folks she's doing her own thing again.. She already knew what needed to be done.
Gintoki leaves Takasugi's body behind in repose and runs to where Shinpachi / Kagura / Otae / Sadaharu are. Everyone is doing their best to guide him to them. Katsura is monitoring the energy levels while Shinsengumi open a path for Gintoki using bazookas. (Shinsengumi as Vanguard again lol)
Hijikata is the last one to kick him to the corridor leading to the control room. Gintoki steps on a crumbling floor but Otae had been waiting for him and was able to catch him before he fell with the debris. Otae then throws him to where Odd Jobs + Shoyo are.
Gintoki is finally reunited with Shoyo together with the Odd Jobs thanks to everyone.
Everyone is then shown heading home after everything has ended.
The ending show everyone having fun in the cabaret club. Odd Jobs bump into Otae receiving B'z tickets from Kondou. Tsukuyo and Kyuubei help out in serving the guests for her. Shinpachi and Kagura make Hijikata wear a mayora costume and Otae tells him to take it easy.
Shimura siblings visit their dad's grave for the last time.
RECURRING THEMES OTAE + ODD JOBS IN THE TIMESKIP and FINAL ARC
Shimura Dojo is a regular hangout place for Odd Jobs and friends. May also serve as Odd Jobs extension.
Otae is always the first person (or something of hers) that Gintoki runs into when he reappears in Kabukichou/Edo.
Otae has the ability to spot Gintoki (in whatever form) in town first no matter what.
Gintoki also has the ability to spot Otae first no matter what.
Otae will run off and do her own thing all the time. But if the Odd Jobs are separated, she will bring all of them back together.
Gintoki and Otae know each other well enough to assure others that the other will do what they will always do. Or predict what they want.
Otae has complete faith/trust in Odd Jobs and their friends.
Hasegawa + Odd Jobs + Otae are close friends and will always work together.
Once again this is the main theme:
"No matter how much we get separated or forget one another, without fail we'll find each other again. We'll definitely meet again."
next: PART 6 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
previous: PART 4 LESSONS 575-669 RAKUYO AND SILVER SOUL ARC

Cryptid Seer Au
Aight peoples heres my new au, be sure to read if your interested in my new au
Basics: this au surrounds dib oof
A cryptid seer is someone who has the gift of seeing cryptid to which are kinda everywhere, normal people can’t see them. But when dib was 2 years old, presumably all the seers were executed by a group who thought they were crazy so they convinced the government they would cause chaos and imbalance. Some still live but the hide away and pretend they aren’t. Dibs mom is a seer but she was executed. Because of this, membrane was devasted. When he found out dib was a seer, he ruined his vision on purpose so he won’t be able to see cryptid s. Membrane still sad about this loss, he made a DNA replica of maybelline (Dibs mom) through a hair, making it into gaz.On irk zim is a respected, famous invader who is amazing at what he does. He has the respect and support of his tallest and everyone else. Because of this, the planet irk is still in tact and so it tallest miyuki and spork (retired). But the armada and massive still exist.Earth is a planet they have wanted to conquer for centuries so they send zim on the case. And in this au, like 25 irken years in age is 1 year in human age.Becuase dib can’t see cryptids , he pursues real science. And gaz is self consuisus about being a replica, not an organic child and how she was created to resemble her mother, but she doesn’t (only in looks tho). Gaz did not inherit the seer gift cause membrane modified her that way (lol she ain’t a robot, she’s a child made by membrane) In this au, proffeser membrane knows cryptids exist but refuses to accept it and acts like they don’t.This au is when dib and gaz are in highschool (specifically a membrane labs private school for all them rich smart kids) where dib is popular. He also doesn’t have glasses yet but he needs them to help his vision see cryptids again. One day he looks through an old box filled with items and pictures of his mother and finds the logo of the swollen eyeball network and decides to connect with them. (maybelline is an original member) (in this au the swollen eyeball is a group of seers who are trying to make the world see that cryptids still exist and just becuase most seers are gone doesn’t mean cryptids are, they still have to stay secret tho) When dib connects with the eyeball he tells them he is the son of agent wendigo( he knows this because the picture had they names listed) ( he doesn’t know about cryptid seers yet or that his mother is one) the eyeball sends him special glasses. One day he decides to use them and freaks out in school and gets kicked out. He now goes to public school but gaz is still in private school
He freaks out because he can now see cryptids (he has no knowelgde prior about cryptids so obvsisouly he is scared)
Now he is in public school and is seen as a freak for yelling that there’s monsters. No one belives him tho becuase all the seers are presumably dead.He contacts the swollen eyeball and asks them, begging for an explanation what the glasses have done to his vision. They explain that his mother was a cryptid seer. They explain about the swollen eyeball and his mom. He asks about the other agents that are in the picture and why they aren’t here, they explain that most seers were executed. And tell him to keep his gift secret. They let him into the swollen eyeball network and give him the name “Agent Mothman”. Now he is obssesed with learning more about cryptids so he drops real science. Zim is now preparing for his mission, nervous as ever. He can’t show any mercy tho (lmao I he is rlly badass usally, in some parts of the au he becomes rlly badass) He thinks what would happen if he failed. He would be stripped of his pak and left to die alone in shame for not conquering earth and letting them know of his existnece. When he arrives, he doesn’t know that he actually cannot be seen by the ordinary eye. But gir and all his machines can. He doesn’t require a disguise knowing that nobody can even see him but it would look pretty werid going to the store with gir so gir can get some chips. Like that would like a green dog is right next to a floating chips.Zim chose gir over the fancy robots suited for him becuase he thought gir was funny. That wouldn’t affect him in the mission too much tho. But zim made a human diguise that was actually good and allows him to be seen by the normal eye (idk irken tech is advanced ) He starts going to school so he can learn earth and it’s weaknessses. He meets dib and already has a bad feeling about him. (Also membrane ruined is vision so bad he actually always needed glasses and apparently even with zim in the disguise that lets him be seen, dib can’t see him or any other cryptids without the glasses) (like i said before the glasses are special, the fix his vision. if anyone else used the glasses it wouldn’t work. Also the glasses have a slight blue tint just because)
he thinks zim is ordinary at first but later someone pushes him and his glasses fall off. Also for some reason I wanted to be that dib has really nice eyes and looks good without glasses that’s one of the reasons he was popular back in the private school. When his glasses fall off. He looks around for it but notices that zim was in front of him seconds ago. He asks if zim is there and he says yea I’m right in front of you. Zim actually picks up his glasses for him and puts it on his face for him and dibs screams and runs to the bathroom realizing zim is a cryptid, but what? He follows zim home where he finds out he is an alien. He try’s to prove it a bunch but fails. Later in the au they sort of become friends and zim learns that some life is valuable and stuff and becomes doubtful of conquering this planet. Cause if he did then dib would loose his home and the planet. So now he kinda is under a tight position cause he doesn’t want to let the tallest down . He’s conqeruing earth veryyyyy slowly. He still wants to conquer it tho but at least keep some people alive or something.Dibs knows this but trusts that zim wont go too far. (Also tak does come in and she’s actually a fan girl of zim and she relazises that zim isn’t conqeruing the planet that well on purpose and she just wants him to return to irk. So she kinda goes crazy and says
“ if you aren’t gonna prepare this planet for operation impending doom 2 then I will and you will have to return to irk”.tak then tries but fails and she returns home and the tallest then deem her defective for trying to interfere by letting her affections for zim get in the way (On irk affection and caring and showing weakness are kinda banned and the pak try’s to regulate to caring and affection to the tallest and the stronger invaders.this is done so they are better at what they do)

Captain Marvel isn’t army propaganda
SPOILERS!
No seriously, it isn’t.
I can see how you might think that on first glance - three of the good guys galls either are or used to be US army and there aren’t really any balancing characters for them. But that’s a thin veneer over a very different kind of story.
First of all, there are only three characters of note with US army background. (We’re not counting SHIELD.) All three of them are women and while they are presented in a positive light, their experience within the army isn’t, really. We see both Maria and Carol face and talk about prejudice and misogyny in the army. It’s made explicit. On top of that, we’re faced with the army’s habit of covering things up and how that negatively affects people. Not exactly a very flattering image of the US army, is it - regardless of whether it’s actually the 90s or not.
In addition, all three of the army characters are actually dissociated from the US army one way or the other. Maria no longer seems to be working there (though we don’t get confirmation or explanation) and her attitude towards the Air Force can’t exactly be called endorsing; she deals out some criticism there. Carol on the other hand barely remembers the army and what she does remember is either negatively tinted - read: prejudice towards her - or deals with her personal relationships with the two other women. She also does not care at all about any authority the army might (try to) claim to have.
And then we have Lawson - who could fill the role of the good army authority, except it turns out she’s an alien who’s basically just been using the US army’s resources to develope her own technology. And not even weaponry! No, her explicit goal is to “stop the war” - not by landing a decisive hit but by helping people escape the war. She denounces war - the war - outloud, which pretty clearly separates her from her army association.
And that brings us to the actual plot of this movie.
Namely, the big glaring antimilitaristic message that’s underlying damn near everything.
The whole Kree-Skrull plot is basically a metaphor for US actions in the Middle East. Noble warrior heroes? A culture that venerates soldiers for protecting the homeland/people/way of life by fighting. Diguised enemies working in outer territories? The war’s not at home but somewhere else and the enemy isn’t a typical government-lead army. The indigenous people get mostly ignored, viewed with reserved suspicion? That scene could’ve been from so many war movies depicting conflicts from the last thirty years.
And then it turns out that the terrorists are refugees. Not innocent, not unbloodied - they have been fighting against the Kree. But by all accounts, the Kree are the aggressor with superior forces and an advantage. They’re labeling all Skrulls terrorists and hunting them down no matter the collateral damage - including the destruction of other worlds, other people. The noble warrior heroes are fighting a war that’s neither noble nor heroic.
And that’s where the antimilitaristic, anti-army message drives home. Starforce is Air Force. Carol isn’t actually dissociated from the army after all; she’s in the army. But that army is in the wrong, is commiting atrocities, is lying to her - and when she finds out, she admits she’s been fighting for the wrong cause and does the right thing, taking back her agency in the process.
Captain Marvel is the story of Carol Danvers becoming disillusioned with the army - any army, all armies, it doesn’t matter - and dissociating herself from it.
Captain Marvel is not army propaganda.
#captain marvel#i grant that not everyone catches this#so some people might come from the movie thinking 'US army yay'#but honestly i think the message is pretty clear#captain marvel meta#meta#marvel#carol danvers#esper rambles#my stuff

Finally taken some time to make these. So I’m starting to post some more pictures and telling more about the sims that I’ve made! Starting off with Virgo!
So here we have Virgo! Edit: hurr durr forgot to add his name. Vin-Cynd Virgo lol such creative surname I know
His skin color is based off Virgo’s planetary’s (Mercury) stone (Citrine).
His split screen shows his Alien form and his human disguise (Which my roommate convinced me to make, as I usually never bother with diguises)
His Aspiration is Soulmate, wanting nothing more than to find his truelove! His traits are; Perfectionist, Healthy Lifestyle (CC Trait) and Vegetarian.
- When will I find the one? Virgo thinks as he does his afternoon yoga session. A re-occuring thought that his love aching heart reminds him of.
Thought this was perfect way to show a taste of how I thought him to be like. Someone wanting to be healthy, doing yoga and enjoying life. But is missing something, or well someone. Someone to perhaps share his views and whom he can share his love with and spend his life with.

That isn't a house. It's an alien space ship laboratory diguised as a human habitat so aliens can study the human behavior of their subjects in their "natural state"
What do you make of this weirdly remodeled warehouse home in the UK?
Serial killer easy-clean stainless steel kitchen.
Heavy duty spiral stairs.
Hmmm…stainless steel fireplace, but medieval castle doors in the living room.
Then, there’s the ship’s hatch. Submarine? Space ship?
Where are we?
Spacy steep steps leading to the home gym.
Music room? Dance studio?
Hang out room.
This looks like a room in a sanitarium.
And, it’s got the bathroom to prove it- even a giant toilet paper roll, but it’s up too high.
Are those sinks or bidets?
Is that a two-way mirror?
What is this room? Are those sleeping nooks?
Interesting sink.
This is just weird.
The wall was sealed- would’ve been nice if they left a door to get out on the deck.

the think what worries me if somehow the writer putting the direction that accepting she is just kara danvers when she is more than that, that she accepting she has to be human bc kara danvers was a disguise made to blend on earth and diguise where she lost her last name, her honor, her title to live in earth like immigrants usually does and lose their culture bc they cant say their name or last name is weird.
Well, first I think I should note that Kara Danvers is a lot more than an unwilling disguise for Kara.
For one—The personality Kara has when she’s not Supergirl isn’t put-on. There are parts of her that she hides, but she didn’t one day pick up the glasses and act goofy the same way Clark did to hide the fact that he’s Superman. She suppresses a lot, but she’s otherwise as honest as she can be without revealing that she’s an alien (hence her always accidentally revealing a bit too much—she’s a pretty open person by nature).
For instance: she doesn’t act awkward, she is awkward.
(She puts on a smile, but that’s not purposefully to hide her alien-ness. It helps, but it’s a quality she has even when those she’s with know everything. It’s metaphorically a disguise, but in the same way anyone hiding their feelings is. She has this trait when she’s Supergirl, and she would probably have a touch of this trait if she lived a full life as Kara Zor-El on Krypton.)
Really, in a way, I’d argue that Kara Danvers isn’t so much a disguise as who she became.
Though, for the purposes of other metas, I don’t begrudge the use of the term.
Further, there is an immigrant narrative here, yes—Kara’s necessary loss of the name Zor-El because she has to hide where she came from. Calling herself Danvers must have been impossibly difficult, because she’s already lost very nearly all of her culture. (It’s terribly sad and thus terribly interesting to me, and an idea that I’d love to see explored more.)
But this is also an adoption narrative.
Kara Danvers is a part of the Danvers family. She’s Alex’s sister, Eliza’s foster daughter.
Kara Danvers is the person Kara became after she lost her birth family.
And calling herself Danvers must also have been impossibly difficult because she lost her whole family.
And Zor-El may represent Kryptonian heritage—the royalty of the House of El—but it also represents that she was Zor-El’s daughter, Alura’s daughter, Kal’s cousin, Jor-El and Lara’s niece. Astra’s niece, even. That name represents that she was a part of an entire, whole family, once.
But it also represents that she doesn’t have that anymore.
It’s a proud and lonely name.
But Danvers? It’s may not literally mean “El Mayarah” the way her birth name does, but it certainly represents “stronger together”.
Danvers is Kara reaching out for love after losing everything.
“Eliza refused to leave.
She said that my parents would want me to be loved, and that nothing would replace them. That they were a part of who I am.
It was the first time I ever let her really hug me, and that was the first time I didn’t feel alone anymore.
Having M'Gann in your life doesn’t mean losing your family. It means feeling whole again.”
Kara Danvers is Kara allowing herself to be loved. Kara Danvers is Kara letting herself be a part of a new family.
There are things she does, like call Eliza her foster mom, not her mom, that honor her birth parents.
But Kara has made it very clear in canon that to her—an individual character who was adopted, rather than a one-size-fits-all adoption representation—the name Kara Danvers represents her attempt to have a “normal” (happy and whole) life after losing the life she was supposed to have.
And that’s why Kara is giving up on this name now.
She has always feared that she’ll never have the kind of happiness that she would have had on Krypton, and a romantic relationship is a part of that happiness.
“Seeing you and Lucy makes me think that I am never gonna have what you two have. Someone who knows everything about me. My perfect partner at a game night.”
“Kara, you’ll find someone…”
“Growing up on Earth, I never felt normal. And I always thought that if I started to use my powers, my life would make sense. But I’m realizing that…
Being myself doesn’t make me feel more normal. And it never will. Because my normal life, ended the second my parents put me on that ship. And that makes me… so… mad.”
So when she lost her relationship with Mon-El—who was someone who could conceivably understand more about her than any human, bring her closer to what a ‘normal’ life would have been on Krypton than she ever imagined—she takes it as more proof that she’ll never have that happy earthly life.
And that’s why she has given up on Kara Danvers.
Because when she took that name, she decided to make the Danvers her family and Earth her home.
Kara Danvers means letting herself try to form a happy everyday existence—a career, friends, family. Romantic love.
Kara Danvers means hope for Kara as an individual.
And she feels like she can’t risk that hope anymore, because it’s been proven that she’ll never have that life too many times.
But what Kara Danvers does not mean, is forgetting Krypton or her family.
That’s just… impossible. It’s present within Kara at all times. It runs through her like her Kryptonian blood.
Now, it’s unfortunate that the show has taken the word “human” away from it’s literal meaning, because we’re all very attached to how Kara does not become the same as a human when she loses her powers and to the idea presented in the season one finale—that unlike Clark, Kara does not have a human mind.
But really, they usually mean “human” colloquially, in the way we usually do—“a regular person” (like in Cat’s speech about caring about loved ones making them ‘human,’ not selfish).
And they also may at some point mean “human” the way Kara means “Kara Danvers”—symbolically unified with the human race.
(I think they’d mean it in a similar way to how immigrants who move to America are American, but it’s sorta a false equivalency, in my opinion. But it’s a realistic false equivalency that the characters could believe, so I’m willing to play along.)
But the show is cognizant of the necessary balance of Kara’s identities.
If Kara ever decides that she’s only Kara Danvers, that she’s only “human”, then the show would present it as a problem to be solved.
Really, one of the biggest purposeful themes of the show is balance.
I’m not sure they conceptualize the character as three different selves the way we do—Kara Zor-El, Kara Danvers, and Supergirl.
They may unconsciously see Kara Zor-El as who she is at her core, Kara Danvers as who she became on Earth, and Supergirl as a role she plays that also shows another aspect of her true self.
They may consciously see her identities as just Kara vs Supergirl, as is suggested in the “Supergirl is what I can do. Kara is who I am” quote.
Or perhaps—as Melissa offhandedly refers to them in an interview— “Kara Zor-El the superhero and Kara Danvers, the reporter.”
(It probably changes, tbh. Which isn’t bad writing so much as a reflection of the intangibility of these identities. There’s no real right answer, because she’s always all of these things. It’s merely a novel and interesting way to conceptualize it, which would inform Kara’s self-perception in canon and thus inform her actions.)
But that doesn’t prevent them from honoring the qualities contained within these three selves through their storytelling.
When we first met Kara, she was only Kara Danvers, and she was unhappy because of it. The issue presented and focused on was that she wasn’t allowed to be a superhero. So when she became one, she was embracing who she was really supposed to be.
Happiness found from balance.
All of season one was about her trying to master this new role as Supergirl and handle her Kara Danvers responsibilities. Emphasis on trying to get down the role of Supergirl (note that the low point of this theme was in Falling, when the people began to fear Supergirl).
Effectively, if perhaps not consciously as far as a separate identity, we also saw Kara embrace Kara Zor-El more in being able to share her alien-ness with the people in her lives. In being able to talk about her grief of an entire planet and culture beyond, “My parents died in a fire.”
And just being able to mention Kryptonian stuff from time to time! How much of a relief must that have been?
Season 2 was promoted with the theme of Kara balancing Kara Danvers and Supergirl again (with Supergirl now being the stronger identity), though the consistency of this theme was lackluster. For the purposes of having a cohesive understanding, we’ll focus on how Kara thought she had it all figured out by the end of this season, until Kara Danvers crashed and burned.
Really, the other aspects of her Kara Danvers identity grew further away (not only because Mon-El took a lot of her focus, but because the other relationships in her life suffered other circumstances. Her job included, though by the end it might actually have been the strongest part of her ‘human’ life.) so that when she lost the strongest element of it, she couldn’t properly rely on all those other things.
An unbalance within the identity that threatened it altogether, in the end.
And now, in season 3, she’s given up on Kara Danvers completely.
Her Kara Zor-El identity is present but not processed. It motivates her being Supergirl even though she is depressed, because she has a responsibility to her mother and to Krypton to be extraordinary and to help this planet but not to be happy. But I think the fact that this event is triggering her abandonment issues (issues innately tied into what we see as Kara Zor-El) isn’t something she’s allowing herself to really think about or talk about.
In some ways.. she’s living as Kara Zor-El, but that identity in and of itself is unbalanced.
In nearly every interview Melissa was in during comic con, she mentioned the scales of Kara’s life—Kara vs Supergirl—as something she is always juggling, and that now all of the weight is on Supergirl.
And that’s the problem.
That’s always a problem in this show. If she puts too much emphasis on one aspect of her life, it makes her unhappy, and the plot works to resolve it in an entertaining way.
So the message of the show would never be that Kara is only Kara Danvers.
And perhaps they don’t conceptualize this character as Kara Zor-El, Kara Danvers, and Supergirl, but they’d never forget the parts of Kara that make her a Zor-El.
And the name itself is not forgotten, either. For one, she introduces herself every episode with “My name is Kara Zor-El”.
And she’s been called it on the show by others, as well.
Quick google search for quotes:
Season one, Maxima: “We could have been family, Kara Zor-El.”
Season one, Indigo: “Kill Kara Zor-El today or fight her tomorrow.”
Season one, Non: “Accept defeat, Kara Zor-El.”
Season two, Kelex: “Hello, Kara Zor-El.“
Season two, Mr. Mxyzptlk: “Kara Zor El, I love you.”
Season two, Mon-El: “Mother, father, this is Kara Zor-El.”
Season two, J’onn: “Your parents’ legacy is not death and destruction, Kara Zor-El. It’s you.”
I’m sure there are a lot more. It’s not a name they’re forgetting.
Every time she is introduced to or referred to by someone she doesn’t have to hide her identities from and doesn’t mostly interact with her in the form of Kara Danvers, she is Kara Zor-El.
So I think she will always see herself as Kara Zor-El, while also being all these other things.
And if any of these parts of her are gone, she’s not her full self, which the show is shown to be very much aware of it and has always made a point to address.
So I don’t think you’ll ever have to worry about Kara losing any of these names for very long.
#supergirl#kara danvers#kara zor-el#supergirl season 3#i feel like i repeat myself a bit here#ah well#I should make a Kara's identity like... chart or venn diagram!#lol#Anonymous#analysis: you're gonna suffer but you're gonna be happy about it

We have gone far
We have gone far
past the pluumed waistbands of Neptune
stopping at llama farms and various head/quarters
To pet Krishnas and Lokis and adjacant existences
forced into growth and allCee-ing
diguised as serpents
We play in the sand
serenade the rocks -our kin&prey-
stilled, unputurbed by our alien movements
We have gone far
with tumbleweed souls clutching at gasps of air
counting 1,1,2,3,5,8,13...
without permission to go
all the way
Did you have sex under that waterfall?
-yes we had it everywhere
Instructive, serious, honest, filthy...68,69,..etc
our fullcups, dangling from gutsy trees
surging through the concrete
gusts of our faint voices, evaluated in towns
-do they loathe our whizzkid taunts?
Or can they see the laterns on our beaks
and ancles
with
thoughts of smoke and messages of fire
singing the torrid tune
We have gone far
