for everyone who was lured into the concept of @difeisheng and i's detective l au on the grounds of the liang wan content, may i offer you the following a.k.a when your ex-roommate gatecrashes your apartment when you're getting dressed for your not-a-date with the local mob boss. featuring actual historical 1930s shanghai cabaret music.

“I am trying,” Hei Xiazi reminds Liang Wan, “To get ready.” 

But five years prior, they’d lived in a one-room apartment while searching for somewhere bigger and better, so when Liang Wan says, “I have seen it all before, Hei-ye,” it’s not really wrong. She even gestures to the scar slipping up above the neckline of his undershirt, once a wound she had sutured shut while he had still been pretending to her he didn’t know how to hurt, never mind whether this injury itself did, which is a -

It’s a low blow, but those are Liang Wan’s speciality sometimes. People look at her little heart-shaped face and the round and outraged shine of her eyes and they do not see the full and awful truth, which is that she is a force as unstoppable as an earthquake. You do not reason with earthquakes. You simply brace yourself for impact and hope the ceiling doesn’t cave in. 

However, Hei Xiazi still remembers her as a small and scared woman on a ship to Europe, with no family and no future and barely her own name, drifting with every mile at sea further and further away from everything she had ever known. 

(At the time, Hei Xiazi had assumed she was running from a man: so often, what’s worse for a woman than a man?  

The answer is: men, plural. Multiple of them. 

Fuck the Wang family. They never deserved her, for all she’s a fucking nightmare.) 

So, overall, when Hei Xiazi pushes her out of his bedroom and shuts the door in her face, he’s a lot more gentle about it than he could be. She tries to open it, but Hei Xiazi is already turning the lock in the door. 

“Fine,” Liang Wan calls through the now locked door, “Keep your chastity intact if you insist, Hei-ge. There’s so much of it left, after all.”

Hei Xiazi listens to her stomp through to his main room, and calls, “Don’t touch my gramophone,” through the door at her. He, almost immediately, then hears the sound of her changing the record on it anyway. He knows, without having to look, what she’ll have reached for. Right on cue, the opening strains of Unobtainable Love start winding their way to him under the door, much like a cat yowling - and all of the same incessant yearning, for all it sounds much more pleasant. 

He sighs. He changes his undershirt, which had been clean before Liang Wan had retaliated against him, and now is sticking to his skin. His slacks, miraculously, are either safe or dark enough to look safe, because he doesn’t have another pair as well-suited to tonight’s dress code. He finishes buttoning a clean shirt over it all and unlocks the door. 

In his main room, sitting daintily on one of the heavy wooden chairs at the matching table - all of it kept over from the previous occupant and at cheap rent because the poor bastard had dropped dead on the kitchen floor or something, and Hei Xiazi had nearly laughed when the landlady had worried he’d not want it for the bad luck - Liang Wan is helping herself to his leftover dinner. Hei Xiazi watches her inhale the last several dumplings in succession with a sense of resignation.

Charles' eyes widened and he bounced to his feet. “Shit, is he alright?” The characteristic mother henning over Edwin wasn't weird. What was weird was the hand he held down, as if to help Thomas up off of the floor. Thomas eyed it, wary, and gracefully ascended on his own. “He's fine,” he said, speaking it softly but firmly into existence. “He's got tricks up his sleeve, a map and your little psychic friend, I'm sure he's sitting pretty.” Charles blinked. “Our what?” Thomas groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Memory spells, my favourite.” He raised his hands. He clicked his fingers to summon Charles’ attention, then waggled two of them. “Watch the bunny.” Charles furrowed his brows, but he didn't even fight him – just looked at his fingers with confused obedience. When Thomas let a seeking orb of purple magic flare at his fingertips the light fell on open, attentive eyes. And Thomas was not crazy about what he found in them. “Okay, yep, that is locked in,” Thomas sighed, dismissing the magic with another snap. “No way we're lifting that one without time to kill and preferably a truckload of reagents. Looks like it's gonna have to wait.” Charles blinked, dazed and squinting, like he'd caught himself staring at the sun. “Woah. You a wizard or something?” Thomas smiled wryly. “Or something.” “And you're… helping us solve this case? Whatever it is?” “That's pretty much the situation in a nutshell.” “Mate…” Charles… smiled at him. “That is brills!”

Hate to burst anyone's bubble but I don't think L would've revealed his face to Light if the latter wasn't Kira. The Kira case was the only case in which L shows his identity to anyone besides Watari because it's the first time he (and his authority) has been challenged like this (with the majority of the Japanese task force leaving since they can't trust L coz of the FBI incident).

If Light weren't Kira and went on to become an NPA officer like his father, he might work with L on some cases together but that doesn't mean L would've revealed his identity to him, however intelligent this particular NPA officer may be.

Like I ship Lawlight very much and I'm not (in this post, that is) referring to anyone exploring the idea of non-Kira!Light with L in their AUs as bad (I like those AUs too), but let's remember that it wouldn't be plausible if we're going by canon. Even if Ohba said somewhere that they'd work together if Light weren't Kira, I'm sure he didn't mean working together as in face-to-face.

OC Character ~ Atlas Cabot Novak

The Lawyer

Being held captive in a court room, during a rape and murder trial hadn’t exactly been on Atlas’ agenda for a bitter Thursday morning.

Neither had being shot, and yet, here she lay, her abdomen excreting copious amounts of blood as she attempted to slow the bleeding with her blazer.

William Walker, was a violent man, at least Atlas had deemed him so from the moment the squad had collared him, her was easily aggravated and near effortlessly provoked.

However no one including his own defence attorney had expected him to grab the gun of a court officer and hold a court of three dozen people hostage.

He’d already shot the trial Judge, and Atlas had crawled over to Liz Donnelly, her belt slipping from her waist as she attempted to create a tourniquet and stop the immense bleeding that poured from her shoulder.

“Atlas your bleeding.” The ADA grunted her hands still pressed against Liz’s shoulder,

“So are you Liz.” The judge attempted to bat away Atlas’ hands, but Atlas was a lot stronger than she’d anticipated, even after being shot.

“Yes in the shoulder, but the bastard shot you in the abdomen, take care of yourself I’m fine.” Atlas’ jaw clenched harshly, as she negated the flying arms of Judge Donnelly,

“And I’m sure the bench wouldn’t appreciate everybody’s favourite Judge dying from blood loss.” Liz scoffed,

“And your mothers will go mad if they find out you’ve been taking care of everyone but yourself.”

Outside on the steps of the courthouse just about everyone had been on the receiving end of two very aggravated lawyers and their aggression.

“Why the hell are we just stood out here, why aren’t you doing something!” Liv turned to Alex although she remained at an arms length away,

“Alex you and I both know they’re waiting for a hostage negotiator.”

The phone rang through the courtroom people flinching as it pierced through the silence. William glanced up panicked, glaring at the phone, until Atlas spoke up,

“This your first time taking people hostage Willy? That’s a hostage negotiator they want to know what your demands are so that everyone can leave here alive.” He nodded picking up the phone, while Atlas eyes the weapon of the second court officer that sat on the defence table away from the rest of the hostages of whom had all crowded on the opposite side of the courtroom, on the benches.

He was making his demands, when Atlas decided it was now or never, she was impatient perhaps it was a trait she’d inherited from her mothers but she lunged for the weapon while his back was turned, and four shots fired.

Across the phone she could distantly hear the commotion and if she heard it right she heard her Mama (Casey) shouting orders.

In a pool of her own blood, she crawled over to the phone, “Suspect down 3 GSW’s to the chest send a bus.”

She succumbed to unconsciousness after that, the beeping of the hospital monitors rousing her, a throbbing in her head coaxing a groan from dry lips.

“Turn that fucking thing off.” Casey chuckled standing at her daughters bedside, Alex combing a hand through Atlas hair,

“Welcome back monkey you scared us for a second there.” Atlas chuckled although winced at the weight in her chest and sharp pain that travelled through her abdomen,

“And I’d bet that you scared everyone else while we were in there.” Alex scoffed although Casey threw her a stare that said ‘really’

“We did no such thing.”

“Alex you made a patrolman cry.”

Death Note L Kira Au Headcanon

Imagine L found Death Note and decided to use it for his own ethic logic. I think about ıt and ı can post some of them now

L found Death Note when travel to japan see a notebook fall in airstation. L have a private plane and say Watari to he want to look planes wheels and see traces in wheels. So he can take the Death Note

L take the Death Note and hide it from.Watari then read ıt . Hide the notebook was the hardest part maybe L thought tell Watari and use ıt for criminals according the laws permission. This can be happen but here L didn't tell anyone and be Kira but not Kira because L give himself a diffrent name. I think that because Light move with human's visions, even his ideal world was depend on humanity and how human's see him so L give himself a name in his mind because L have less mental complex than Light. L be a guilt with Notebooks power and ıt effect L's brain slightly but doesn't do anything like Light did( Kill everyone who say he is evil) . Beside L is secret Kira so this story's Kira (even L give himself a name ı say Kira now) case sent to L for solve ıt.

My favorite part. L give clues and leave evidence but the one who did crime and solve crime he can't caught himself. Case ıs went thorough days and Light would be interested in this case, Kira task force would be same and L do same things in Canon. Even the joke would be same "Don't say your name's, ıf ı was Kira all of you would be dead" With his father, Light have a chance to join task force. At least L say these but ın truth L take Light to task force because L hear in phone when Soichiro talk to Light, Light say " What ıf L was Kira then ıt nearly imposibble to cought Kira" . L doesn't want to kill Light but want to take Light to their side . L would succes but before that Light nearly caught L from his moves. First step of L to takes Light their side was give Light to paper of Note. Light wouldn't scream ı thought when he see Ryuk, he want to know what is happening then think about sides , join L . They both have similar ethic and L is extremely carefull with which criminal would be kill. L wouldn't kill serial killers or guilt who have ideals ı bet.

Also

Misa isn't in story or don't have strong effect in storyline because she can't understand who is Kira. I like to think she thought Light was Kira ıf she is in storyline than must be search taskforce and one day jump into Light just like anime

L isn't kill as much as Light and create plans on criminal's thoughts and fear always think like "less death but also less criminals

L would immidately try Death Note and make experiment

L wouldn't talk Ryuk as much because Ryuk effect L's thoughts but Ryuk have fun like this also

Especially Light come to their side

L and Light do chess metophores and play tennis here to ımagine L make monologue when covered by blue even he had to red but ı didn't change ıt because ıt L sided and ın L's mind guilty is a complex think but when we see Light's side, L was covered by red. I don't want to see blue covered Light.

They caught by a purpose and destroy all the clues in Kira case than escape and Wammy's house almost zero clue where are they ( L and Light)

L try to take Watari to their side. It isn't worked when they escape they took technology of Watari but L never let Light to kill Watari

In the end there was less than 1000 guilt die but humanity have enough proof to believe Kira have logic and ethic

Mikami support Kira as well but never use Death note. Do nit give Mikami the notebook

I don't know how the Death Note musical does it (or if I'm just twisting songs to fit my blorbos as usual) but They're Only Human and Mortals & Fools both fit like a glove as Fross & Tilda songs. And then of course Borrowed Time is about the tentative Fross & Nemesis confrontation.

But why leave it at that? There Are Lines is a Fross & Lis song now (lol. lmao). We All Need a Hero is about... *checks notes* Fross & Stanley! Other than the parts that are specific to Light, of course, Kira is totally Fross about Far Zenith, but if you stretch a little you could even make those sections about Kai. I'll Only Love You More is clearly about Frosskai.

In fact let's just cut the middle man and make a Death Note AU, since Fross wants Death Note to be about him so bad, apparently. That could be fun. I'd have to change basically everything around but. I'm considering it.
