The main ships of NFCV:
DraculaXLisa: The science couple! Bonding over their shared love of science and nothing else. For someone who seemed deathly afraid of what her husband could do to humanity Lisa really didn't seem to have any issues with him commiting genocide in the end! Gotta love having to twist characterizations to keep a ship alive!
Trephacard: Superficially it's the most obvious, but the group goes a surprisingly long time separated and the time they spend together is often spent being cunts to each other
Striga and Morana : lesbianrepresentation.png
Alucard x Greta: When a cunt meets a piece of wood
Lenector: https://youtu.be/UnDhyWnHPD0?si=AcoJZBVXlYlByHgL
Annette X Richter: That great moment when one member of the couple gets treated nicely by the other when they suffer from trauma, while the other treats them like shit for the same reason, only to basically lie about it later on by saying "Oh I was worried about you". Also dead moms are a great bonding agent!
youtube
^ you couldn't have made a better analysis, my friend.
If you count Strirana (Morga?), then you might as well count Olrox/Mizrak, which is a very nice combination of fanservice (look! two hot men fucking!) and angst (oh nooo Olrox turned his bf but he says he doesn't want to do the same with his new bf because he doesn't care but he clearly does, oh the drama!) :P
Anyway, the straight ships in these show all suck. The gay ships are too busy being gay to go beyond that, but the others are all built on the same dynamic of "sassy woman keeps his stupid/rude man in check and they have cute sassy banters that are supposed to mimic chemistry" - and I would count St. Germain with his woman too if the latter had any sort of personality.
It was cute when Lisa sassed Dracula because, well, he's Dracula, although she really looks bad afterwards with how she neglects her son in favor of her monster of a hubby (not to mention she just comes off as an arrogant ass, since her love for science comes in the form of wanting to be seen as smarter than the peasants below her). Sypha insulting Trevor loses its charm very quickly, even when they're supposed to be cutesy together - and she has no right of calling Trevor rude when she can be even nastier and meaner. Greta appears out of nowhere in the end and she believes she can order and sass Alucard around like a common fanfic OC, not to mention making a tasteless joke out of his experiences in S3. And the "banter" between Lenore and Hector is sick from multiple angles, but on a lighter note is also forced as fuck - they sound OOC, there's no other way of putting it, because the only way they know of showing a man and a woman getting along is shit like this.
When you think about it, the only people genuinely in love really are Striga and Morana, because they were designed to be joined at the hip.
Well, I suppose Annette doesn't really fit the mold. She doesn't sass Richter: she sounds like she genuinely looks down on him and thinks lowly of him, until the writing has to force a "cute" ship tease between them because despite having absolutely nothing in common with game Annette and being a very obvious example of "this character sucks, we'll improve her and make her super cool", she couldn't be her own character, oh no she's still named Annette and therefore she's bound to become Richter's GF :) "I knew you'd be back. I was more concerned than I wanted to be." you are a horrible liar
anyway the only way you can enjoy ships in this show is ignoring canon and forcing the characters into your favorite prepackaged molds, like Trevor being the funny penis man, Sypha being the braincell holder and Alucard being the snarky broody asshole. Or ignoring all the abuse and rape for the sake of kinky hot sex in the case of Lenector :P

You are my safe place
Chapter 1.
Pairing: Wooyoung x fem!reader
Trope: Friends to lovers (I guess)
Genre: romance, angst at some point.
Sorry just wanted to fullfil my delulest desires with this. English is not my first language. I wote this in spanish to have some fun and later decided to post it in case someone might find it entertaining so forgive me if there are some mistakes.
I wake up in my small studio. It's raining. The weather has been horrible these past few days, almost as if it was trying to warn me of what was about to happen.
I eat my breakfast and get ready as quickly as I can. I'm short on time since, as always, I've postponed the alarm too many times, but I try not to punish myself too much for it.
I gather my things and leave my mini studio. I get on the subway, which is especially crowded due to the rain, and head to work. When I get off I walk for 5 minutes and finally arrive at my company. I greet and smile at everyone I pass by. When I finally open the door to the infirmary I sigh and relax. I may be a nurse, but I love the quiet and enjoy my time alone.
As soon as I arrive I star to work. Today is an important day since it's time for the boys' check-up. I still have an hour until the first one arrives, so I write to Nolan, my situationship, I guess. I met him when I joined the company as a nurse, at the first party I attended. He immediately approached me because, apparently, I looked "uncomfortable" and "out of place" and he wanted to include me in the team, in his own words. After that we exchanged numbers and started talking quite often. From time to time we would also meet up, although always at his house despite my multiple attempts to have dates that did not include sex involved.
I say good morning and wait for a response that doesn't come. Lately he's been a slow texter, but when I asked him why, he assured me that everything was fine, that he was just trying not to be on the phone so much.
I stare at my phone when someone knocks on the door. Wooyoung walks in and sits on the chair on the other side of the table. He automatically smiled at me and I do the same.
- How are you Y/N?
- Good and you? - I look at the hour in the computer on the table in front of me - You've come too soon. Is there a problem?
-None. I just had a little free time before the checkup. -Wooyoung stares at me, as if he were looking for something-Were you able to get some sleep?
-Ah, so you were analyzing my dark circles.- I smile.
- You don't have any. You look fresh as a rose. But we finished talking at 3 in the morning so I was worried. - He pouts.
- But our conversation was too interesting, I couldn't just abandon you. -I respond, corresponding his pout. - Seriously now, I'm fine even though I haven't slept much. Don't worry.
Wooyoung smiles again, something he's been doing since he walked through the door. But that perpetual smile fades when he looks at my cell phone.
- You're waiting for him to answer you, right?- He asks me with a stern face.
- It is that obvious?
- A bit. You were turning your phone on and off when I came in. -Now he looks sad. - Y/N, let me give you some advice, again, stop talking and seeing him. He's not trustworthy. I can make a two-page list of his red flags and the things he does that are wrong.
- I know you're right, but... - I hesitate to continue but I do anyways.- It's just that when we see each other it's perfect. There is chemistry and he treats me well.
-Which part of only wanting to see you in his house and answering you when he's bored is treating you well?
My eyes widen in surprise at his response. We've talked about this many times, and deep down I know he's right, but he's never been this blunt before.
Instantly he seems remorseful. He stands up and bends down to hug me. I hug him back awkwardly. Despite having had Wooyoung as a friend for the last 3 months, I still can't get used to these gestures of affection.
The boys, including Wooyoung, and I met at the party where I also met Nolan, although I didn't start making friends with them until I did their first checkup. After that, they invited me to have a drink with them and other coworkers. Since then, Wooyoung and I have been friends. Although almost all the credit for the birth of this friendship is his.
- Sorry, I shouldn't have said it like that.
- No, don't apologize. You haven't lied. I know I have to end this. But I don't know how to do it.
- Why don't you talk to him in person today and tell him how you feel? You can write it beforehand to know what you want to let him know. But above all...-his smile widens.- You should kick him out. Close the door and throw the keys away.
- I think you're right. I'll follow your advice, for once. And it better go well or I'll sue you. - Wooyoung and I laugh and talk for a while longer, after which I force him to do the checkup, then I send him off so he can stop lingering and go to his dance practice.
Wooyoung walks out the door but not before making me swear that I will tell him everything and let him know if I need anything
When the door closes behind him I smiled to myself. Wooyoung is like a whirlwind but there isn't a day that I'm not grateful to have him in my life. He is always there when you need him.
The day continues with his unstoppable progress and I do the rest of the boys' checkups. In my free time I follow wooyoung's advice and write down everything I want to say to Nolan. As the hours go by my anxiety level increases. And when it's time to leave, my whole body is shaking.
I close the infirmary and head to the office area. I have texted to Nolan to meet and go home together so we can talk, but I haven't received a response. So I go straight to look for him knowing that if I don't do this today maybe I never will.
His office colleagues inform me that he is in the break area, so I head there. When I walk through the door I freeze. Nolan is there but he is not alone. He is accompanied by a woman our age. They are kissing passionately, not realizing that they are no longer alone. Nolan finally opens his eyes and when he looks at me his face changes as if he had seen a ghost. I turn around and try to leave, but Nolan is faster and stops me, grabbing my wrist. I'm crying but I don't care, I turn around and look into his eyes.
- Don't you dare come close to me again in your fucking life.
When he starts to try to explain himself, I free myself and leave the building, without looking back.

What are your top 10 favourite Three Houses Support?
Wanted to wait until I got to my computer for this one, as much as I love 3H and the supports, I WILL say it's utility is definitely not as well-designed as Awakening and Fates was. So I didn't get a WHOLE lot of good supports or the ones I wanted.
But from what I did get, I'll list!
Manuela and Seteth. I've mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again: I love their polar opposite dynamic, and how deeply they connect with each other when they open up about their pasts to each other. It sets the mood perfectly for the ending when Seteth realizes he's in love with her, and I like to imagine that their marriage helps to make Manuela more responsible... a little bit. And helps Seteth to ease up... a little bit.
Sylvain and Mercedes. Now THESE two, these two are my big ship in the Blue Lions house. Both of them were treated horribly by the societal expectations set by Crests, and Mercie is the only girl that Sylvain seems to sincerely speak to without being a (completely) massive flirt. They have such good chemistry with each other and even in 3Hopes (WHY WERE THEY NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO A-RANK?!), Mercie manages to charm Sylvain so much it catches him off guard.
Sylvain and Ingrid. I don't really ship these two, but this is one of the few M/F supports that doesn't have Ingrid being a complete hardass for no reason (which I feel like is super unfair), and gets to explore her exasperation with Sylvain's tendencies because it reminds her too much of Glenn's confidence before he died. It's probably one of my favorite platonic supports in the game.
Leonie and Felix. Those two. Are perfect. For each other. And Felix's competitiveness matched to Leonie's gives them perfect energy. Plus, I like the fact that Leonie didn't let Felix's asshole-ness get under her skin, and that they actually got along really well after their "duel". I just hate that their support didn't end in marriage.
Dimitri and Marianne. I love how sweet and gentle Dimitri is to Marianne, and I ADORE how much they connect with each other over the tragedy of their losses. And I like that Marianne has someone quiet and kind to connect to. They find strength in each other to continue living. And she makes a beautiful queen for Faerghus. Especially with that last line in her journal, "I would not trade our time together, or the happiness we knew, for anything". I hate to say it, but Dimitri has a much better chemistry with Marianne than he does with any of the Blue Lions girls.
Flayn and Manuela. This was a perfect showcase to display what a good step-mom Manuela would be for Flayn, she was so nice to her.
Raphael and Ignatz. This one was definitely an important support for Ignatz to put his guilt behind him. Especially considering how much of a sweetheart Raphael is, and how he wouldn't hold such a grudge against Ignatz for what happened.
Flayn and Ignatz. ANOTHER support where I was mad they didn't get married in the end!! I loved how enamored Flayn was with the idea that Ignatz was going to paint Cethleann, and she totally spaces out and basically outs herself as Cethleann (while Ignatz is totally oblivious).
Dimitri and Sylvain. This one's more for the comedy factor than anything. I love how Dimitri is like "Ok, I get why you dip when things get serious".
Ferdinand and Dorothea. Forgot I had supported these two since I haven't played my game recently (and my initial playthrough didn't recruit everyone RIP), but I think that Ferdinand's earnestness to gain Dorothea's approval was very sweet, despite how coldly she was treating him. Ferdinand's a bit of a ditz, but he's genuine, and he's nothing like his father. It felt pretty unfair for Dorothea to be so mean to him, but I thought it was nice that she finally let go of her irrational hate for him.
This was primarily just 3Houses, if I had to give any supports in 3Hopes a shoutout, it'd be Manuela and Jeralt, Shez and Jeralt, Rodrigue and Felix (MUCH NEEDED), and Shez and Annette.

Never Let Me Go Ep 4
The first 4 episodes of Never Let Me Go are the same as the first 4 episodes of Bad Buddy - meaning, I'm convinced that they BOTH have a feelings for each other, because the series strongly suggests it in numerous scenes, and then it turns out that one of them has a pretty solid crush on someone else :D Gods, I hated it in BB, I hate it in NLMG.
I think, that that the series might try to sell it as if Nueng may feel unworthy of love, and he kind of latches onto Ben's attention. BUT. The series heavily imply that Nueng sees and is fully aware of Palm's feelings, and moreover, responds to them. It was the same in BB, also Pat was jealous of Pran as well as Nueng of Palm. But it turned out, also in episode 4 if I remember correctly, that there is "someone else" and the scenes of jealousy sort of mislead the viewer into believing there is only one love interest.
Honestly, I don't like it. I don't like when the script suggests one thing and suddenly shows something else and "surprises" the viewers. I would understand Nueng, if from the beginning he was shown as a very lonely boy, surrounded by "cold" people, when no one, especially Palm, showed him any form of interest, attention, affection. But it is not true, Nueng was and still is loved! As for Palm - everyone so far, in every NLMG review, has noted the heavy tension between Palm and Nueng, their chemistry, the way they more or less flirt with each other. So Nueng latching onto Ben just because he said he liked him? Sorry, I'm not buying this. The series also doesn’t show Nueng's dilemmas, it doesn’t show that he is confused by his feelings, that he might like two guys. I COULD UNDERSTAND THAT. But Nueng is shown to be fascinated by Palm, he actively seeks his presence and closeness, his interest is emotional and physical. On the other hand, in the case of Ben, he is shown to treat him as a friend with exactly one scene when he checks out his photos. Ah, right, there is one scene in a bath tube, when Nueng thinks about Palm and Ben, which happens after the kiss).
(I had a tiny little hope that Nueng was "checking" Ben and that the kiss was part of “the plan”, with no feelings behind it, but I guess he actually is interested in him.)
I just... like my BL to have a clearly defined pair, I'm a bit of an old fashioned boomer when it comes to these things 🤡 I LIKE scenes of jealousy, I like when there is a worthy rival. I DON'T LIKE it when one of the MLs is practically equally interested in two people (unless it's a poly). And what I REALLY DON'T LIKE is when the plot kind of confuses me and make me go like, whaat? Maybe I'm watching NLMG carelessly, maybe I missed something, but I was really surprised by Nueng and Ben kissing. I was sure that at the last moment Nueng would stop himself, that despite some kind of interest in Ben, in him being so nice, he would remember and choose Palm, that his infatuation with Palm would prove to be dominant.
The thing is... Nueng has been manipulating Palm from the beginning - leading him IN HIS DIRECTION. He manipulates him in a pretty obvious way that (I think) is also clear to Palm. That's why this kiss is such a (unpleasant) surprise to me. Because this manipulation turns out to be completely unnecessary at this point, since there is another boy, who is also available :) It all make Nueng look a bit like a dick lol
Traditionally, Palm remains my favorite character. I feel so sorry for him, especially seeing the trailer for the next episode. Whatever he does, whatever his intentions are - he is criticized, scolded, beaten, or humiliated. Just when he thinks he enjoys his master's beloved affections, that Nueng sees him and responds to his feelings in some way, he gets hit by the sight of Nueng kissing someone else and then throwing a drunken tantrum full of horrible accusations. And all he can do is swallow his pride and his hurt feelings and once again take care of the master boy he loves. I admit, the way he is being treated is getting on my nerves more and more.
The worst part is that I've probably got worked up for nothing and this kiss will ultimately turn out to be completely irrelevant after the next episode lol
Palm deserves the best. I’m team Palm 💖🤟 Also Chopper :)
Tumblr media
I feel so protective of Palm, maybe this is why I’m so salty after this episode......🥺🥺🥺

SHIPPING INFO // ANSWER THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR MUSE SO PEOPLE KNOW HOW SHIPPING WORKS ON YOUR BLOG. Tagged by: @witchcraftandburialdirt (❤) Tagging: I have no idea whose been tagged or not HERHW
WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER?
Because I have so many muses I'll only say the ships I do really enjoy between them. There's a lot of ships I really like, but the only real otps I have are:
- Danny and Robin: They're single shipped in a few au's public and private just because they're both so connected and have so much development. Egg's been a joy to help develop Danny further and letting me explore just how awful he is as a person despite how goofy he is as a character. I'm really excited to treat his modern verse like he's in Roseville and the parody paper dragging up emotions he thought he killed a long time ago. - Tarhos and Haru: How much can I say about these two without writing a novel? I'm a slut for found family and healthy explorations of trauma and these two really are just that. Of course they have their tragic verses like Tarhos's main verse (Haru's medieval) where they're both seen as animals to varying degrees and they don't get a happy ending. Modern they do, but I also enjoy the whole cosmic "You and I are always destined to meet" thing they have going on especially with Tarhos's fallen angel and Haru's primordial verse. They just have me by the throat-
HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?
I'm honestly of the opinion that if it's not predatory like someone clearly more mature who only likes "young" x, y or z it's fine. I write a few older muses, I write muses that are well beyond human comprehension in age, but age gaps happen it's not really something people actively think about. The largest age gap I have in a ship is 12 years between Haruko and Tarhos, but that's fine.
HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NSFW?
I think once the kissing starts getting too handsy is when I typically put it under cut. I like writing smut, but I know it's not everyone's favorite thing so I try to be considerate of dash and tag it appropriately.
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?
I'm pretty selective and I think I'm pretty open about that? I like muse chemistry, I like things that I can build off of and write effectively. Even if it's something extremely silly I genuinely prefer to " and relationships that aren't just "oh they're both hot throw them at each other". I've also had really bad interactions in the past that have put me off of cishet ships, so it's harder for me to get into those especially with my muses.
WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?
- Ghost Myers: I can't even really explain why I like this one so much. It's so goofy and stupid and charming. I write it mainly on discord now and days, but I enjoy it so much. It's either absurdly sweet for two horrible people to be together or just so fucking stupid and non-serious. There is no in between. It's fun. - Tarhos and Vittorio: How long can you spend time with someone who embodies the ideals you hate just out of sheer ignorance alone, but when he touches you you can't help, but melt. How many times can he excitedly talk about philosophy and history, both things you were never of the privilege to even think about studying before you start to get annoyed, but then he starts talking about a better place where you to can be together and you can't help, but fall in love again. But... as things get messier and messier the first person to ever start treating you like a person starts to become someone you hate and loathe to be around and you know from the way he touches you and speaks so softly it's one-sided. Why doesn't he hate you like you hate him? That's what I love about that ship- beaming t4t propaganda directly into your head
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?
Yes!! Please ask!! I have muses that are extremely flirty like Aita and Luanne to an extent, so I'd like it if people asked. Communication is something very important to me as a person.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?
Tarhos and Vittorio- do not look at me do not perceive me I am a slut for divorce eras.
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU?
Literally just ask if you think there's chemistry, the worst I'll say is no, but in all likelihood I'll just say "Let's feel it out", I try to be as open as possible and mutuals can dm me for my discord since I know how awful tumblr ims are.

My Issues With The Couples Of All Of Us Are Dead
Hear me out, I'm sorry but I really need to let this out. I loved All Of Us Are Dead, it's the only zombie piece of media I enjoyed (No I have not watched Train to Busan). Despite showing how the characters coped and survived, it also had romantic subplots centering on the main characters and honestly...it was the weakest part for me. Before you hate on me, hear me out first. Let's start with...
1. Lee Su-hyeok and Choi Nam-ra: These two are the ones whose romance develops first and to be honest I just didn't see the chemistry. Yes, they were sweet in all of those moments when they were 'dating', but how it develops is my problem. We first see Su-hyeok asking Nam-ra out on a date, despite having the exact moment before that be the teacher scolding Su-hyeok for not listening when Nam-ra was reciting in class. Now, I hear you right now, "Just because they have a crush on them doesn't mean they should always listen to them in class", and yes, that's true. But the thing is, I wouldn't be complaining if that wasn't the only interaction we got between them right before Su-hyeok asked her out. It makes it seem out of the blue, no reason why he's into her, just...he likes her. And then after that, during the apocalypse. The most we get out of them before the confession is just...them fighting zombies and Nam-ra leaving a note for Su-hyeok to come to the broadcasting room. There is also no indication that Nam-ra liked him too until the confession. As much as I don't wanna take the side of the fandom whose probably just there for the yaoi, Su-hyeok really just has more chemistry with Cheong-san. At least they flirted a bit. Also, Su-hyeok has no personality besides being athletic and being a simp and Nam-ra had no personality besides being lonely until that one scene where they were in Yangdong. Basically, they were all the other had going for each other.
2. Lee Cheong-san and Nam On-jo: And now we go to the ones who had actual chemistry. At least Cheong-san and On-jo had some good footing for their relationship. I would've honestly shipped this if it weren't for On-jo. The way she just treated Cheong-san the whole time before he confessed was just kind of horrible. She was his childhood friend yet she acted like he never even had a prominent role in her life. When I-sak died, she acted like she had no one when Cheong-san was literally just right there ready to comfort her. Before he confessed, he has protected from the fucking zombies yet she only cares about Su-hyeok. But I have to admit, after the confession it started to get cute. I particularly liked the 'we'll talk after this is all over' thing. But still, Cheong-san deserves better, this is why he's the only protag I genuinely liked out of the main four. It has less problems with development unlike the former couple, but it's still sort of problematic.
Bonus:
Jang Ha-ri and Park Mi-jin: I know it, you know it, we all know it, these two are the best couple. It's literally just enemies to forced allies to lovers and it's glorious. I might be biased because it's wlw but seriously their chemistry was the best. In the span of presumably maybe 4-5 days compared to the two that had known each other since they were children, they felt like a more believable couple. All of their interactions were so funny, it was just...I'm sorry but I can never stress enough how much I love these two. That scene where Mi-jin was trying to practice archery was just everything to me. The small smile Ha-ri gave to her was so adorable and omg these lesbians are literally what made me watch the show in the first place I love them so much.

Red String of Fate
Relationship(s): Gojo Satoru x F!Reader
Warnings: slight swearing, slight manga spoilers
Tags: Soulmate AU
AO3 Link: here
Words: ~2.3k
Request:  “Hello I'm actually not sure if I'm supposed to put put my request here? well, if its not supposed to be here, then please ignore it. Anyways, can I ask of you to share your thoughts on Soulmate AU w/ Gojo around 12 to 16 yrs old where he can see signs of who's soulmate is whos meeting his possible fiance who turns out to be his soulmate (I asked that age bc first meeting! he's from a noble clan and its really weird he doesn't have fiance or something) Sorry if its confusing and Thank you!”
Gojo Satoru was twelve years old when his Six Eyes began showing him the red strings of fate. Every person’s string was different. Some of them stretched on for what seemed like an eternity, almost seemingly never reaching the other end. Others were shorter, connected to the person they stood next to (whether they knew of their existence or not). And unfortunately, on some, Satoru could see the end of the string, but it dragged behind someone, unconnected to another human.
Satoru had told his mother about the strings as they appeared. Those are strings that lead one to their soulmate, she had explained to him. Everyone has a soulmate, but not everyone is in love with theirs. There are different kinds of love in this world.
Satoru’s parents were soulmates, but they did not love each other; that much was clear from how his father treated his mother. He never hit her or anything, but he didn’t treat her like an equal; more of a vessel that gave birth to an heir. He only interacted with his wife when necessary, the two not even sleeping in the same room at night.
For that reason, Satoru was scared to meet his own soulmate. He had one, that much was clear by the bright red string tied around his left pinky that stretched on for kilometers. He didn’t want to end up like his parents.
Gojo Satoru was fourteen years old when his father announced that he would be marrying you, a girl from the Kamo clan. You were the youngest daughter in the secondary branch of the family, just a year younger than him. Tomorrow, the two of you would meet for the first time.
You were nervous about tomorrow, for several reasons. Number one, you had heard the rumors about Gojo Satoru--the first member of the Gojo clan to be born with the Six Eyes and  Limitless, the two inherited techniques of his clan, in a hundred years or so. That meant, in a nutshell, he was much stronger than you could ever hope to be, as someone who hadn’t even inherited the Kamo clan technique (which is why you were being shipped off to another clan). Number two, you had heard rumors of his personality, somehow both cold and carefree at the same time, but one hundred percent a horrible personality to be combined with your timid and quiet nature. And number three, you almost resented him because now you were stuck in an arranged marriage and you saw how well that worked out for your parents.
Tomorrow arrived, and the maids dressed you up in the finest of kimonos, hair ornaments, and even makeup. You weren’t particularly into girly interests, more interested in training for when you enter Kyoto High in a few years; the feeling of foundation and lipstick felt foreign on your face.
You arrived at the main hall, escorted by your uncle (the head of the Kamo family), your parents, and a few maids. You normally didn’t wear a kimono often, except for very special occasions, and you have never been in one for this long. Graceful, you were not, and tripped a few times because of the geta chosen for you to wear with the kimono. Each time, the maids were swift to grab ahold of your arms and stabilize you. They even helped you sit down as you awaited your future fiance and his parents.
Gojo Satoru’s parents arrived before he did. They apologized on behalf of their son, citing that he was on he was back from a mission. You were jealous, he wasn’t even in high school yet and was already being assigned missions. While you weren’t powerful in comparison to Gojo Satoru himself, you could still hold your own against your older cousins and had a decent amount of cursed energy.
Gojo Satoru’s parents seemed nice enough, but the chemistry between them resembled that of your own parents; they tolerated each other, but that was it--no love, no spark, nothing. You wondered if his parents were also put into an arranged marriage. You could sympathize, but you also secretly hoped that the two of you wouldn’t end up like your parents.
You poured tea for your future in-laws, hands shaking slightly, a few drops of tea spilling. As you sat the teapot down, in came Gojo Satoru himself, dressed in a simple black kimono, but the sash was not tied tightly. His hair was touseled, and stained with either dirt or blood (you hoped it was dirt). Despite his unkempt look, he was gorgeous, with bright white hair and eyes blue like the sky matching neither of his parents. Despite the color differences, he took mostly after his mother with her soft features.
When he made eye contact with you, he froze, looking down at his left hand, and then back to you. Before you could even greet him, he immediately fled the room, both his parents calling after him, leaving after him.
That was a bit painful; your first time meeting him and he leaves immediately seeing your face. You weren’t sure how your self-esteem would recover after that blow.
About twenty minutes later, Gojo Satoru’s parents came back, empty-handed without their son. He refused to meet you, but they promised he would come around eventually. So, your family said your goodbyes and left the Gojo estate.
Once your family arrived back at the Kamo estate, your uncle slapped you across the face, blaming you for what transpired with the Gojo family. It was your looks, your lack of femininity that obviously scared your fiance away. Not even makeup or the finest materials could fix it.
So what, if you weren’t “feminine”? Being “feminine” doesn’t exorcise curses, now does it?
You grumbled an apology, leaving to your room and locking the door behind you. You started crying, ruining the makeup that took the maids hours to do, but not even bothering to care. It took a while to get out of the kimono, but you changed into sweatpants and a large T-shirt and left the offensive material on the floor. Neither of your parents bothered to check in on you, but the head maid did. She cleaned up your makeup and brought you some of your comfort foods. She was more of a mother to you than your own, and you were always grateful for her in your life.
The next time you would meet Gojo Satoru, there would be hell to pay for embarrassing you like this.
Gojo Satoru was sixteen years old when he next met his fiancee, this time on the battlefield rather than mitigated by their families. Kyoto was short by one for the Kyoto Goodwill Event, so you were allowed to join as the sole first year. You were glad for the opportunity because that meant you could finally pay back Gojo Satoru for the embarrassment you felt two years ago.
You were told you had great potential as a jujutsu sorcerer, already being promoted to Semi-Grade 2 as you entered Kyoto High. Of course, you weren’t even close to your fiance who was promoted immediately to Special Grade upon entering Tokyo High. While the power difference between a Semi-Grade 2 and a Special Grade was immense, you weren’t going to let that stop you. You held a lot of pain in your heart for how Gojo Satoru rejected you from one glance, refusing to ever see you again that day.
This was Gojo Satoru’s first Goodwill Event, as last year he was only a first-year and the spots were full from the second and third years last year. Since last year, Kyoto had won, the event was held at your school. Not a single second or third year at Kyoto believed they even had a chance to win this year, as Tokyo has not one but two Special Grade students this year participating in the event. There was only one Grade 1 sorcerer on the Kyoto side, a third-year, while the others were a Grade 2 or Semi-Grade 2. The goal was to stick together; power in numbers. While the two monsters Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru could take out the entire Kyoto team singlehanded most likely, the others on the Tokyo team were rather weak, at only Grade 3.
So, the Kyoto side would stick together, avoid conflict. The goal was to exorcise curses, not necessarily fight each other.
The six of you stuck together, exorcising curse after curse. It was strange, as several minutes passed and you hadn’t even encountered one of the Grade 3 Tokyo sorcerers. You felt the hairs on the back of your neck stick up, then a voice behind you announcing, “Hello~”
You turned around quickly, barely able to avoid an attack. There he was, Gojo Satoru in the flesh. He was much, much taller than last time you saw him, now towering over you like a tree. On his (admittedly) handsome face was a smug grin, his bright baby blues peeking out behind round black shades. He held his hands in his pockets in a carefree manner. Almost not like he just attacked you and your senpai.
You glanced back briefly. While you were somehow lucky to avoid the attack from your fiance, your senpai behind you was not. The attack left them unconscious, back against a tree and blood running down their head.
While reading headfirst toward your fiance probably was not a good idea, only rage flowed through your head. You may not have inherited your clan’s cursed technique, you inherited a similar technique but more closely to your mother’s Zenin clan’s technique. You could manipulate shadows, not to summon shikigami, but rather to form weapons.
You summoned the shadows to form a sword, raising it to strike Gojo Satoru. But it reached just centimeters away from his body before stopping, almost like an invisible forced kept it in place, unable to move it further. You stared at your hand in surprise.
“Now, now, is that any way to greet your fiance?” Gojo Satoru asked, grin widening.
“Are you really though?” You asked, jumping back cautiously before he could ready another attack. “You didn’t even want to meet me two years ago.”
He placed his hand onto his chin in thought. “Hmm, I suppose that’s true. Tell you what, land a hit on me and I’ll tell you everything.”
“Bastard,” you called to him, switching your shadow weapon to a bow and arrow, pulling back the shadow string, and releasing it toward him.
Gojo Satoru held up two fingers as the arrow stopped in mid-air, much like your sword earlier. “I don’t think that’s my name, sweetie. Bad luck for you today. Seems like we’re just a bad match.”
You were frustrated. How the hell was he doing that?
A siren sounded out through the forest. The match was over; Tokyo won, only because Gojo Satoru had distracted the Kyoto group while Geto Suguru handled the stranglers and the remaining Grade 3 sorcerers were able to exorcise more curses than your side.
Gojo Satoru disappeared before your eyes, but you heard a whisper in your ear from him, “I’m feeling generous. An hour before the individual matches tomorrow, meet me in the garden. I’ll explain everything.”
So, that’s how you found yourself out in the garden at 8 am, shivering from the morning chill. The garden was huge, but somehow you figured your fiance would be able to find you.
“Yo,” he called out, startling you from your thoughts. “I didn’t think you’d actually come.”
“I don’t think highly of you,” you admitted. “You embarrassed me two years ago and my uncle thinks I’m a disgrace to the family now.”
“Yikes, that seems a little harsh. Not like I annulled the engagement or anything. I just was going through some good ole teenage angst then, nothing more.”
“Still going through some ‘teenage angst’?” you questioned.
“Oh, you know, just the normal amount. I died a few months ago and it reset me back to typical teenage angst levels.”
“You what? ”
“But that’s a whole different story. We’re talking about why I left two years ago after seeing you.” He brought a finger up to his lips. “This is top secret. Can’t tell anyone.”
You nodded.
“So, my Six Eyes. I’m sure you’ve heard all about them, being in the Kamo clan and all. It turns out I can also see the red string of fate that brings soulmates together. My parents are soulmates, but they have a shitty relationship.”
“Okay.” You could relate, your parents also have a shitty relationship.
“And they’re the only pair of soulmates I’ve ever known. So,” he grasped his left pinky in yours, “when I saw that red string of mine connect to yours, I panicked. Didn’t want to be forced into a relationship with my own soulmate and end up like my parents. Call me a sappy romantic, but I wanted to meet you and get to know each other on our own, not because we’re in an arranged marriage.”
You couldn’t help but blush. Here was Gojo Satoru, your fiance, one of the strongest jujutsu sorcerers in the world, proclaiming that you were his soulmate. It seemed ridiculous, but you didn’t think he was lying. Suddenly, all the resentment for that time a few years ago left.
You took your pinky out of his, looking away from him in embarrassment, then stated, “There’s nothing that says we can’t do all that while still being engaged. Lets.” You took a deep breath, looking straight at those brilliant blue eyes past his sunglasses, then continued. “Let start over. Get to know each other the right way and see where this takes us.”
He grinned. It was the first time you saw him smile with pure happiness behind it. “I like that idea, soulmate.”

My Issues With Sam Manson
Or, please stop simplifying legitimate criticisms we have with this girl.
Tumblr media
Lately I've also been seeing these same points talking about how the phandom dislikes Sam for the crime of being a teenage girl. There are legitimate problems with her character and the harmful message she spread. Frankly put I'm so sick & tired of seeing our complaints be reduced to "you only hate her because she's a woman!!"
We don't dislike Sam because she's a teenage girl (anyone who do has serious issues to work out) but because the narrative excuses her flaws and bad attitude.
What I mean by that is, she has flaws, which is perfectly fine, but rarely faces detriments for them and even gets rewarded. She got no chances of growing, in fact with each season she got worse. The writers wanted to put her on a pedestal at the cost of other female characters. ESPECIALLY nonwhite girls.
The writers do not develop her beyond confirming her endgame with Danny. She never learned to open her mind or being respectful of other girls' interests. Despite some episodes that COULD have had her views challenged & she grows from them. She never learned to temper her hypocrisy. Sam never made up with her parents - we don't even see their side of the story - her character remained the same. She ended up rewarded with a guy she called selfish and boring because he gave up his powers - to protect her & his own family. The overfocus of such romantic subplot came at the cost of literally every other girl in the series. They were put down to reinforce "Sam is Right." Heck Danny himself was dumbed down a bit to make Sam a well of wisdom.
In Girls Night Out she talked down to Jazz as if implying the latter didn't know how to handle ghosts. In her very first episode she changed the school lunch menu to food only SHE would eat without any consultation or mindfulness of allergies for that matter. In Phantom Planet she barely contributed beyond screeching at Danny for being just another boring human which only gives weight to the sentiment that she only loved him for his powers (ergo uniqueness). She was never made to held the same level as the male characters. In Fact half the time she had to get involved is a problem she started first. Sam fell in love with a guy because he looked similar to Danny's Ghost Form (again only adding more weight to the "she only loved him for his powers" argument).
Especially at the cost of characters like Valerie and Paulina. Valerie's arc never got completed because at that point the writers wanted to get the cogs going for Amethyst Ocean as quickly as possible. The last we see of her is standing in the background clapping and cheering. No resolution for her and Danny. She didn't even contribute in her Huntress Form. Valerie was a crucial part in the first two season of the show. She was relatable and sympathetic, she had challenges to overcome. Her flaws weren't excused and she had to LEARN and grow from a stuck up brat to a vengeful hunter to an understanding anti heroine. We were so close to seeing her arc get closure. Heck Valerie even gave up Danny because she wanted to protect him for her own secret life as a ghost hunter. Her chemistry with Danielle was also would've done wonders with her arc. But in S3 it was forgotten, she was forgotten, all to push the Sam as endgame. Weird considering she spied on Danny & Valerie out of envy when they went on their date. Then she had the nerve to call out Danny for spying on her & Gregor when the only reason did so to protect her form being targeted by an evil ghost or the Guys in White. Sam didn't even feel compassion for Val when her dad lost his job and she ended uo living in horrible conditions abandoned by fake friends. And Sam's supposed to be the nice one??
Paulina at least got comeuppance for her crappy behavior but again she was demonized as worse than Sam because of her femininity. You could say she and Sam were foils (which they are) but Paulina was written to be worse than she actually was while Sam did truly selfish things and never truly addressed.
The Beauty Pageant episode....boy that was a DOOZY of a plot. She willingly joined a pageant to complain about high beauty standards and shallow girls, when literally NONE of the other models pressured her into joining or bullied her. She even WON yet had the audacity to throw the trophy on the ground in an extremely unsportsmanlike act. The narrative supports her action despite her clearly being in the wrong.
Her having flaws in of itself is not the problem but, the way the show HANDLES her flaws as if they're strengths to be emulated. Yes you could say that Sam herself was wasted potential. Then again she was Butch's intended pet character and the main love interest so of course she had to be Perfect! She should've had a meaningful arc but no. She's still that same obnoxious excuse for a Strong Female Character that the show forces us to sympathise with.
This isn't me saying you should start hating Sam. This is me saying please take the time to read our legitimate complaints before strawmanning us. Sam reinforces the tired Not Like Other Girls Trope, the two biggest victims being WOC, and the show treats this as a good thing. It is not a good thing, seeing interesting female characters esp. Woc be put down to put a very poorly written character on a pedestal.

my actual, serious thoughts are that this romcom setup where two love interests try to set up two other characters only to each fall in love with one of the people they’re trying to set up is absolutely perfect for an ironic double twist that would play out in a unpredictable, refreshing, and satisfying way. obviously it won’t happen, but let’s explore that route
first of all, it’s funny in a shenanigans way this series is already doing so well with, and second of all it wouldn’t occur to the audience before it actually starts to happen. I truly believe a relationship between former enemies who tried to kill each other and who meet again under different circumstances and become good friends and inspire openness and joy in each other is much more appealing than a relationship between a man who abuses, attacks, mocks, and assaults a woman while she desperately tries to 1. survive 2. keep him from destroying her home and 3. make it so that he can actually experience emotions. I deeply dislike straight couples where the woman goes to all this effort to ‘fix’ the horrible man who she’s going to end up with and endures suffering upon suffering to get to a place where he finally treats her well, while he faces no repercussions for his actions towards her besides...feeling bad, I guess. she’s like his guide to good behavior and acting normally, more like a therapist than a partner. I don’t think it’s fair and I don’t enjoy watching it and I don’t like the message it sends. it’s the reason I had to take such long breaks in watching this show. this is not a relationship I endorse despite the early-episode humor
so I would vastly prefer it if orchid and dfqc remained important people in each other’s lives, but strictly platonic friends. dfcq/changheng would take a lot of effort in reworking the plot, but I think it would be a fantastic choice. of course, the reveal about who dfqc is to ch has to come eventually, but I think the betrayal would just add some drama and depth that, in the...couple hours we’ve seen them together, it just doesn’t have. and after the betrayal is forgiven and dfcq shows he’s changed, their relationship would only then be that much stronger! right now changheng is SO happy to be with dfcq, and encouraging dfqc to come out of his shell and talk about his very painful experiences with his father and they genuinely have a great time together and I can see that turning so easily into something more romantic. imo they have more chemistry with each other than either has ever had with orchid
I also don’t want to ignore orchid or cut her off from the happiness she found in being the center of someone’s attention or the growth she’s undergone or the questions of her identity or her centrality in the plot - she’s the main character! to make the romcom switch work, she’d then be with the god of war, but I feel like they might be related maybe? so that’s off the table. but I really like the idea of orchid and danyin! they were also off to a rough start, but danyin now sincerely respects and admires orchid’s courage, and she defended orchid and stood up for her after the exam. and just like it would be good for orchid to stop mooning over changheng, I think it would be really good for danyin to move on from him as well. honestly, I think I could make a case for danyin as a lesbian who’s experiencing comphet and focusing on changheng as the ‘perfect’ man who’s also unattainable. she doesn’t seem to have much else going on in her life besides disobeying her father and being catty with other fairlies, but this loneliness and fixation on changheng feels characteristic of someone who’s unable to connect easily with others despite her ‘popular girl’ status - maybe because she’s not being authentic to herself and she’s clinging to the thing she hopes will make her ‘normal?’. this reading makes a lot of sense to me and I think danyin realizing she has feelings for orchid instead could be a really beautiful and liberating and affirming story...and I know this won’t happen but I’d like orchid to put her foot down and be able to walk out of this situation where she’s treated so shittily half the time and where dfqc always seeks to dominate and control her. I really love the idea of her and danyin finding freedom and peace with each other....that’s the dream for this show

About your recipe with the curdled milk and the brandy - there is not quite enough detail there for me to feel comfortable attempting to replicate. Can I ask you to make a step by step?
Sure! Here is a step by step that breaks the original 4 steps into quite a lot more than 4 steps, hopefully with adequate detail about each step and why you do it the way that you do. This is a LONG post, so it’s hopefully buried under this readmore.
Equipment you need: A measuring cup, ideally a set that also includes 1/4 cups and 1/2 cups, but it’s fine to just use one cup and go by eye. A peeling knife or grater (for zesting your fruit) A pan capable of holding at least 4 cups of liquid A large lidded jug that fits in your fridge A spoon with a long handle A second large jug for straining your mix into, lid not required A large glass bottle, at least 1 litre capacity, with flip or screw top, for final storage of your fancy drink. This should be sterilised ahead of time, ie in dishwasher or oven. A seive or similar strainer A funnel for convenience Coffee filters, several
The method I use is based off Mary Rockett’s Citrus Milk Punch over on splendid table, and with the same ingredients. Keep to a 1:5 ratio of milk:cocktail for the best results, but you can get away with 1:4 in a pinch. I treat cups as British cooking cups, ie around 250ml capacity. As long as you use the same measuring cups throughout, you’ll be fine: 1- Peel your lemon & orange into long strips of zest. I use one large naval orange and two whole lemons worth of zest because I like it extra flavoursome. If you have more time and also motor control, take a microplane grater and zest all the colour off your fruit. You want the zest to be able to give out all the oils & flavours it contains, hence optional use of a grater. You DO NOT WANT the pith, the white stuff under the tasty zesty peel. Leave that on the fruit, and save the fruit for later by wrapping it in clingfilm to replace to the outer skin it lost.
2 - Dump the zest/ strips into a tupperware containing two cups of your cheapest brandy. I use the bottom shelf stuff that comes in plastic bottles. Try to make sure it’s a good waterproof tupperware, because then you can pick it up and give it a violent shake to encourage the delicious oils from the zest to really infuse into the brandy.
3 - Put your tupperware container somewhere away from direct sunlight (I hide mine on top of the microwave), and come back 24 hours later.
4 - It’s now 24 hours later. Pour a cup of milk from the fridge into a LARGE and LIDDED container, like a 2 litre jug. The milk will sit in the jug warming up to a cool room temperature while you do the next bits.
5 - The official recipe says to add your remaining ingredients together and whisk till the sugar dissolves, but this is where I diverge a bit. Add your 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of sugar together in a pan, and heat gently while stirring until the sugar dissolves. I find this faster and easier on my wrists than trying to whisk sugar into cold water and brandy that’s already got stuff in it.
6 - Take your sugar solution off the heat & let it cool a bit, then add the juice of yesterday’s bald orange and lemons and stir them together. Use fresh, not bottled stuff, even if this means you need another orange because you ate the one you zested yesterday. The original recipe says 1/4 cup each lemon and orange, but I like 1/4 cup lemon and 1/2 cup orange.
7 - Strain your brandy-with-stuff-in into the solution, discarding the zest that was in it. If you just put in strips of peel, this is easy - pick out the chunks and chuck ‘em. If you put in grated zest, you will need to use a strainer for all the little bits. Stir your liquids again to make sure everything is nicely mixed.
8 - GENTLY pour your brandy-juice-water-sugar mix into the milk that’s now a coolish room temperature. If you dump it all in at once, the milk can curdle too fast. And likewise, if you add the milk to the brandy instead, it will curdle instantly and then you lose the slow process that gives you good results.
9 - Give your horrible brandy-juice-water-sugar-milk concoction a gentle stir with a long handled spoon of some kind, so that there’s no untouched milk sitting at the bottom and no totally clear brandy stuff sitting at the top.
10 - Put the lid on your container, put it in your fridge, and WARN YOUR FLAT MATES/ FAMILY/ ROOMIE/ SPOUSE NOT TO TOUCH IT, because most people, on seeing a jug of horrible curdled milk hell, will sensibly want to throw it out. But they don’t know what we know about playing with booze and chemistry. Leave it for 24 hours.
11 - We are now on Day Three of making this cocktail. Take your horrible nasty curdled milk hell drink out of the fridge, noticing that it has settled into a thick curdy soft-cheese mass and a mostly clear liquid that’s still got some funky looking stuff. Line a strainer with a coffee filter, and begin to decant from the fridge jug into a new container via your filter. I find it helpful to stick the strainer atop a funnel for this part, since most liquid containers have narrow mouths better suited to funnels than to big round strainers.
12 - You will go through a few coffee filters, because the milk curds will start to clog it up pretty quickly on your first round. I throw out the clogged filter and replace it wth a new one every time the flow of liquid from filter into container gets to just being a very, very slow drip.
13 - Great, now do that again. Despite the loving care of multiple coffee filters, some sediment from the milk will probably have gotten into your lovely end result. The original recipe suggests two rounds, but I usually do three rounds of filtration to get the level of clarity I’m happy with. Final round is filtered into your nice bottle for storage.
14 - Done! Seal your bottle of fancy booze, and store it in the fridge (or, if you live somewhere that’s temperate bordering on cool & have access to a root cellar or similar storage location, store it outdoors in the ground away from sunlight as Charles Dickens used to do and as my girlfriend’s mountain-dwelling Welsh family still do).
note: this recipe should taste decent immediately, but the flavour develops when it has more time to really commingle so it’s totally worth coming back to after a month. If you decide you want to experiment and use other boozes & fruits as a base, just keep it acidic and note that some flavours take longer to mellow than others.

Honestly? I think what tangled failed to do was make sure characters had good chemistry as friends. Seriously Cass and Rapunzel where like crude oil and the ocean. One single match from destruction. Season one is bottom barrel because it goes out of it's way to excuse Frederick for his shit. Season two was actually really good because Rapunzel was still herself and was making tough choices left and right. Season 3? Ohhhh boy. Season 3 was a half good half bad because while I do applaud her trying to bring her friend back into the fold? Cassandra wasn't wrong when she said "this has to stop now. This thing where you THINK you've been my friend". Cuz as far as I could tell? They were never friends. Hell even when being a slow burn villain, Varian had better friend chemistry with Rapunzel. When the show expects me to swallow "Cass and I are besties.and sisters!" whole sale? I'm not buying it.
Oooooh boy! This ask is just dripping with potential rant power. Sorry in advance for how long this answer is destinied to be!
First things first. I absolutely agree with you on how badly TTS handles chemistry amongst the main characters. Cass gets the worst of it because she is shoehorned as Rapunzel’s BFF off screen and suddenly she has equal sway on Rapunzel as Eugene? Her character can’t even be allowed to breathe most of the time because the show is obsessed with sticking her next to Rapunzel to the point that she can’t grow any further away from her. At least other show original characters like Lance and Varian have an actual introduction and a place in the world outside of Rapunzel, but even then they suffer because Rapunzel is upfront and center and there is very little wiggle room for interactions that don’t have at least have some involvement with her. It’s here where our opinions differ however.
I would make the bold claim by sayin that S1 of TTS is by far and away the best out of the three. Yes it has the glaring flaw of bias for Frederic and against Varian that makes me question whether or not it should be considered “good” but it’s much better balanced than the other two seasons that follow it. In S1 we actually get character who aren’t Rapunzel more chances to shine without her stealing the spotlight away at the last moment. In S1 we actually have an actual conflict that drives the story forward and at least pretends to care about developing the characters. Even the obnoxious bias could have still worked out in the shows favor if they were ever properly addressed in story and not swept under the rug like they were in later seasons. Heck, I would go as far as to argue that the worst parts of S1 is the fact that S2 and S3 make it worse retroactively.
S2 in my opinion is the dullest of the three, by a wide margin. With them never addressing what the mains left behind in S1 as well as taking the threat of the rocks away WAY too early, the conflict is particularly nonexistent. Not only that, but it does what I think is the worst thing a show can do during a season long journey. They never actually develop the world outside of Corona. They established that there are 6 other kingdoms in the alliance with Corona, but the most we get of any of them is the one throwaway line about them being close to the mountains of Koto in Freebird. Other than that we overstay in three separate places that end up being worthless to the plot as a whole. After spending three episodes in Vardaros right out the bat, we never return or what’s become of them afterwards. Them mains stranded on the Island is pretty dull and is only memorable to me because they had the guts of mentioning Varian again and established that Rapunzel STILL has an unhealthily delusional bias for Frederic despite of everything. The House of Yesterday’s tomorrow is just an excuse of shoehorning a bunch of magical hijink cliches that aren’t done very interesting. Heck, despite them spending a whole season getting to the Dark Kingdom, they only spend an episode and a half there and only a single night in universe. The rest of S2 is just filler that don’t even develop the characters or tell any interesting stories. Like, an enchanted forest episode even though the mid season finale takes place in another enchanted forest? A repeat of the first part of Tangled the movie with Cass replacing Eugene? Whatever the heck “Curses” was supposed to accomplish? The only thing interesting that S2 introduces is the Brotherhood, and we all know how little they are used afterwards.
I would also like to point out that at the start of S2, the mains just…. Stop developing almost entirely? Cass and Eugene never have any meaningful moments together like they do in S1, and are reduced to just taking potshots at each other to remind us that they have some sort of relationship. Lance is reduced strictly to comedic relief and in my opinion is just there to give Eugene something to do when he is removed from the plot because once again, the show is obsessed with making Rapunzel and Cass’ friendship be a thing that only matters. Hookfoot is just there to give his stand up routine about how marriage is terrible in the first episode of the season and just to exist afterwards, yet he SOMEHOW gets actual episodes focused on him while Lance suffers. Even characters properly introduced this season are cursed to never flesh out because Adira keeps pulling a vanishing act for no established reason, Hector is only gets any lines in his debut episode and never given any real focus again, and Edmund gets the same treatment as the other dads (except maybe Captain) by getting his entire character reduced to one trope later on in S3. Speaking of…
S3…. Ooooh boy S3. It’s not as boring as S2 for me, but that’s only because it’s a media equivalent of a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from. It’s like they took the two major issues of the past two seasons (the clear bias and shallow filler) and mashed them together while trying to savage it by inserting what worked in S1, (actual conflict) but completely missed the point why it worked in the first place. All pretense of caring about any other character other than Rapunzel and Cass is gone in this season. Even episodes that focus on anyone outside of Rapunzel, ends up ending with Rapunzel saving the day because she is the only one allowed to be heroic anymore.
They try to make Cass’ villain arc as complex as Varian’s but for some reason they think her blaming a literal baby for being kidnapped is enough grounds to go on a murder streak without one episode of hesitation. Lance is just there for bottom barrel dumb humor, yet the show thinks he is responsible enough to raise two kids on his own. Varian falls into the pigeon hole of just being the “kid character that hangs with the grown up mains” trope that he managed to avoid in S1 while also being just a plot device to not only give the mains access to tech, but also get shoehorned into scenes to keep the audience somewhat invested. Eugene is literal retconned in universe to be just a bland supportive boyfriend. Rapunzel, my gosh Rapunzel…. She treated is so painfully “perfect” to the point that she is completely unrelated. I’m not calling her a Mary Sue because they only ACT like she is perfect. She is still a hugely flawed human being, but the other characters just applaud her because she is “the magical, wonderous sundrop” and very little else. Also yes, Rapunzel being obsessed over Cass while playing off all the horrible actions her BFF as her being lost is the most frustrating thing ever. It’s as if she became Frederic from S1 and abandoned everyone else well being in favor of one person who doesn’t even want her attention, only worse because it’s made into a good thing. Again, S1 is made retroactively worse because of the seasons that follow it.
There is much more things wrong with S3 than S2, but honestly I find myself changing my mind a lot whether which one is objectively worse. Like making a show boring is arguably the worst thing you can do, but the choices, morals, and all around writing of S3 is just bad. Then again the writing in S2 is honestly pretty on par with S3 at times, so again, it’s a toss up.
Sorry again if this answer is a lot, but it was pretty fun at the same time. Thanks for the ask. ^^

The Wolf Reviewed
Spoiler-free section
My life is divided into two eras: ‘before seeing GG as Ji Chong’ and ‘after seeing GG as Ji Chong’. I will never be the same.
GG is magical in this series, and Ji Chong is among my absolute favorite characters of all time (I am actually in love with this character, which is heartbreaking given the fact that he’s fictional). The show also has many interesting characters and some exciting storylines, and in spite of some of its flaws this series is quite good. Highly recommended.
Tumblr media
Of course there’s a lot more to it than that, but I can’t give a full review without spoilers. Here’s the rest for those who have already seen the series.
Spoilers under the cut
OK, where to start?
The Characters
There were so many great characters in this story and overall I found the performances of all of them well-acted and exciting to watch. I especially loved Ji Chong and Yao Ji. Both were complex, mysterious characters who stole the show every time they were onscreen.
Ji Chong was incredible. Everything about him was over-the-top amazing. I can imagine that GG must have identified a lot with Ji Chong because he has a similarly gallant, charismatic and kind personality. Seeing GG perform a character like this was mind-blowing because of the harmony between them in spite of their physical differences.
I could go on and on about how much I love Ji Chong as a character but if you’ve seen the series you already know how great he is. I truly fell in love with that man. He was everything I love in a person, and in such a beautiful package. I loved his nimble mischievousness, his rebelliousness, his fierce independence, his devotion to those he loves, and above all, his integrity.  With one exception that I’ll get into later, everything he did in that series was consistent with the image I had of him and it made my heart melt.
And it was pretty insane to see GG go from the thin, twinkish, bubbly and somewhat diminutive Wei Wuxian to the rugged, masculine, mature and level-headed Ji Chong. Not only because of the personality differences between the two characters, but also because of the physical differences. They look like two entirely different people. Ji Chong looks so tall and imposing in the series!
It’s impressive to see GG’s acting ability shine through in these roles. He has such a gift for acting, and for drawing viewers into the hearts of the characters he plays.
Yao Ji was another character that really impressed me. She had so much intensity and complexity, and her character arc was so strong. She was also just incredibly well styled and she looked breathtaking in every single frame she appeared in. The various headpieces and hairstyles she wore were stunning, and her sidekick Zi Shen was an aesthetic marvel.
Tumblr media
I also really loved Ma Jing. Despite the fact that she was often used for comedic effect, her character was quite nuanced and multidimensional. I loved her loyalty and strength, and the depth of the love she had for Ma Zhai Xing really shone through in every scene she was in.
The entire Night Fury group was also amazing. I loved them as a team and as individuals, and the trajectories their characters went through were interesting and engaging. I was really invested in what became of them. When Wen Yan died I was gutted, and I was grateful that Hai Die and Mo Xiao had such a satisfying conclusion to their story.
I also adored Butler Shi. What a great character. He reminded me of one or two guys I know hehe. He had such a warm, endearing quality about him.
I’m realizing that I could sit here and name almost every character in this series. Despite some of the problems that I have with it, I’m reminded that the characters are exceptionally well-realized in this series.
The Story
Overall I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the story. It was exciting and engaging, and there were some very interesting side conflicts and intrigues. There was an overall sense of adventure and plenty of action, some really emotional moments and even comic relief.
When you think about it, almost every character had something deeper going on outside of the main plot, and those side/back stories were really interesting and varied. There was complexity to the characters and their motives and experiences without it overcomplicating the plot.
The romances were not my cup of tea. I’ll get into that later on. But despite being the thread that ran through the entire story, they really didn’t feel central to it and it was easy to simply enjoy the show while putting aside the annoyances I had with the romances (I did this primarily by consciously choosing to take the story at face value, and choosing to believe that Ma Zhai Xing really was through with Prince Bo).
The show did a great job of getting me engaged and keeping me interested, giving me a story that was complex without being confusing, emotional without being too sappy (with some exceptions). The action, fight scenes, battles, etc. were exciting without feeling fake and cliche. There were some well-choreographed scenes.
I really can’t complain about much. I mean, there were times when I was watching this series that I thought I hated it, but in retrospect I can see that I really loved it in spite of some of the flaws, which I’ll discuss in a moment.
The Soundtrack
The soundtrack was quite good, even if it felt repetitive when I was bingeing the show. So many songs have stuck with me since I finished the series. I especially like Backflow by Jolin Tsai (second-last song on the playlist I linked). Of course I would have loved a song or two with GG, but the soundtrack we got was memorable.
What I hated
I really struggled with some aspects of this series.
I found Bao Na mostly unwatchable. She was incredibly annoying. As a character she had all the traits I dislike. Whiny, stalker, demanding, emotionally immature, jealous... I really couldn’t stand that character for a lot of the series.
It’s true that she started to redeem herself a bit through the course of the series but she never really evolved into someone I wanted to see more of. I definitely had some moments where I liked her and sympathized with her, but mostly she grated on my nerves.
Tumblr media
I also hated Prince Bo through most of the series, and found it insulting that I was expected to view him as the protagonist and cheer for him to win the princess’s heart. I felt that the ‘love-hate’ thing between Prince Bo and Ma Zhai Xing was overplayed to a point where I lost all sympathy with Prince Bo and desperately wanted him to die a horrible death through much of the series.
His behavior didn’t reflect someone who was in love but wanted to protect her. Much of his behavior was excessive and gratuitous, much worse than was necessary to achieve its stated goal. He was incredibly emotionally and psychologically abusive toward Ma Zhai Xing to a degree that was often really hard to watch. Especially his near-rape of her.
This is a man that I didn’t want to see redeemed. This is a man I wanted to see burned alive. No one who truly loved Ma Zhai Xing would be even remotely capable of the actions Prince Bo took.
I will admit that he did begin to redeem himself in my eyes a bit later in the series, but not to where I could ever see him with Ma Zhai Xing. I don’t think that’s the sort of treatment one can ever redeem in a relationship. He might be able to redeem himself, but not the relationship. There are some lines, once crossed between people, that one can never come back from.
I actually felt that Yao Ji was a much better match for Prince Bo than the princess was. They were true equals with similarly difficult pasts, and similarly dark deeds to redeem themselves from. They were in so many ways perfect for each other.
Tumblr media
Ji Chong and Ma Zhai Xing were a better match because they were more natural equals in terms of personality, values and life paths. There were tremendous parallels between the two of them. Although I ended up feeling she didn’t deserve him.
So for me, it was really difficult to get invested in the love stories I was presented with. Ultimately I found them all very unsatisfying. The people I wanted to see together were treated as unsuitable for each other in ways that were completely unbelievable, and the people I was expected to want to see together had unconvincing chemistry and incompatibilities that I couldn’t overlook.
Seeing Ma Zhai Xing die in the end was an OUTRAGE. Especially when I read about the director’s rationale for that decision.
“Her thought process on killing off “Zhai Xing” was that “King Bo” had done so much for her that it was time for her to do something for him. “Her character had matured the most in the series. Dying for Wolf Boy is the best ending for this identity of hers. To me, this perfect ending is even more in line with her character’s growth.””
I found that shocking. I couldn’t disagree more with this sentiment. She wasted so much of herself and her life for Prince Bo. He treated her like crap, and he didn’t ever truly do anything to redeem himself from that behavior. He should have been the one to die.
In my opinion, REAL character growth for Ma Zhai Xing would have been to see her overcome the fixation with Wolf Boy and with Prince Bo and just move on with her life.
I will say this, though: By the time Ma Zhai Xing died in the show, her character had already been so utterly and thoroughly decimated beyond all recognition via the Prince Bo housewife trajectory that there was no point in her surviving.
The absolute worst moment for me, though, was Ji Chong ending up with Bao Na. Talk about adding insult to injury. This is the one thing that Ji Chong did as a character that ran against my understanding of him as a character.
You could have done anything at all to Ji Chong, including killing him or turning him into a villain, and it would have been less of an insult to me than putting him with Bao Na.
I do try to interpret his invitation for them to travel together in a non-romantic way (despite the fact that in the world of the show there’s no way that a princess is going to go traveling with a prince without her reputation being ruined unless they are a couple). But when I tell myself that he took her traveling to get her away from court and give her some life experience - as friends only - then it becomes less of a bitter pill to swallow. I could see him doing that for her, and I could see them developing a strong friendship through their travels.
I just can’t see them as remotely romantically compatible. Not on any level.
I found it completely unconvincing that the most emotionally mature, honorable person in the entire series who had the healthiest boundaries and a lot of worldly experience and intelligence, would have any interest whatsoever in someone as emotionally immature, childish and inexperienced (and with no boundaries whatsoever) as Bao Na.
I would have preferred it if they’d framed that whole thing as him being a sort of big brother/mentor figure to her.
I felt like I saw chemistry and compatibility between Bao Na and Fourth Prince Chu You Ze, and I would have loved to see them end up together. They were much more at an equal footing. I was expecting that to be the outcome and it would have been a sweet one. They would have made a cute couple.
Final thoughts
The romances in this story seemed fixated on unhealthy, often misogynistic power imbalances and they were really, really hard to watch. Not just in terms of Prince Bo and Ma Zhai Xing but also the ugly Ji Chong and Princess Bao Na hookup they tried to get me to swallow at the end. I hate that kind of ‘love’ story. I prefer seeing actual equals find each other in the great wide world.
However, pretty much everything else about the series was excellent. Ji Chong owns my heart and I only wish I could see more of him. GG completely blew me away and far exceeded all of my expectations.
Overall, I really love this series and will definitely be rewatching it.

9.Most angsty ship
Ooooh boy. This is a tough competition because I LOVE angst. One of my philosophies is that if a ship doesn’t break my heart at least once, is it really an OTP? So I have a lot of super angsty ships lol. But I would say my top 5 (in no particular order) are probably Catradora, Gallavich, Villaneve, Griddlehark, and Evelyncelia.
Catradora: Grew up together in a toxic environment that eventually led them to be enemies for a time, despite how much they loved each other
Gallavich: Where to even begin…overcoming an abusive and homophobic father, multiple breakups, prison, one of them running away to Mexico as a fugitive…when I tell you this ship put me through the ringer lol
Villaneve: They both tried to kill the other at least once. Enough said lmao
Griddlehark: I don’t want to say too much about this in case anyone wants to read The Locked Tomb series (and I recommend it!) but yeah this ship is…ANGSTY
Evelyncelia: Two famous actresses who fell in love with each other during an era where being gay was illegal and they had to keep it a secret. Enough said.
I guess if I had to choose, it would have to be either Villaneve or Evelyncelia since Villaneve had a horrible ending and Evelyncelia a very bittersweet one. The others (minus Griddlehark bc their ending is still to be determined) at least had a happy ending.
22.Ship that you immediately fall in love with after one scene despite not considering it before.
Hmmm…the only one I can think of at the moment is Bonora from TVD. Nora was the first person onscreen to call Bonnie beautiful (which is BS and a testament to how horribly Bonnie was treated on that show but I digress). But they had so much chemistry during their minimal screen time. If I couldn’t get Bamon, Bonora should have been canon instead of B*nenzo.
28. Ship that you expected to ship before reading/watching franchise and you don’t
Mako and Korra from LoK. People were saying they were similar to Zutara and when I actually watched the show I was so…disappointed lmao. Such a boring ship that had none of the depth of Zutara, despite being canon. Pretty much the only similarity is that they’re both fire/water pairings.
Thank you! :)

Note
I went on a KPop deep dive a month ago and ended up liking Big Bang & having a huge crush on Kang Daesung ♥️. I'm actually the same age as him and I totally missed out on this group for 14 yrs. Out of every group (1st gen to current) BB is just so different and the range they can deliver is unparalleled that I hesitate to call them an idol group.
In that short span of time, not even knowing what burning sun is about, Seungri just rubs me off the wrong way. There is no problem with ambition & tenacity but his is coupled with greed and even desperation. I looked back on their videos and he just seems to have this huge inferiority complex and wants to be seen ALL the time. He hogs the camera. In Go Show when Youngbae was dancing, he was too when it isn't his turn. In Strong Heart, he was imitating TOP when he didn't have to. In Family Outing he made them choose between him & Daesung. He's jealous of GD, but he'd always been jealous of Daesung also bec of his celebrity connections (which Dae doesn't ever exploit). Maybe that's why there is always noticeable distance between them. He's always the one saying "Nyongtory" which I didn't buy into; it struck me as always been for show only. It doesn't feel the same way as ToDae, there had been affection there right from the beginning.
It also struck me how the members treat him & Dae when they are both the maknae line. The rest have always been affectionate with Dae, constantly praising him. They play up his strengths (knowing Dae has his insecurities too & he had struggled so much esp in 2011 that he's never been the same despite his current playfulness). Even GD joked he wants to be Dae in one of those MADE series interviews. Their messages to him are always thankful (even 2 "I love you's" from TOP 😊). But with Seungri, they seem to always have their guard up when he opens his mouth. I like how Taeyang publicly showed his disdain for S in the GD & friends show.
Even w/o the scandal they'd eventually be a group of 4. Going back to old shows, I think this solidified in Go Show. In Weekly Idol, GD said that there's 1 they could do w/o. Same in Infinite Challenge. In Radio Star, they've repeatedly warned him about his acquaintances. They've readied themselves for this possibility long ago. They already saw the writing on the wall even if they don't know the extent of how badly he'd f*** it up.
But it's also good that it's Seungri who is out; I'm sure they could bounce back w/o him. They still have 2 of the vocal powerhouses who could very easily take his parts. His sound is not distinct anyway.
If it is any of the remaining 4, I doubt if they'd come back as a group, subunits maybe? (I even think that if Dae quits, then TOP won't come back even if GD & Tae wants to. This opinion is not being a ToDae fan as I'm not a shipper, I just like their friendship). I'm happy with the 4; with them there's balance: 2 singers, 2 rappers, GDYB & Todae as BFFs.
Even if they don't want to come back in SoKor, there's always Japan & China. I think they'd do well internationally, esp in Southeast Asia (there's too many of us waiting for their return). And if there's one group who could rise from this level of adversity, it's Big Bang. Go OT4! 🎉
One, I’m glad that you didn’t let Seungri turn you away from the whole group. One bad apple shouldn’t spoil the rest!
Two, I felt the same way to be quite honest. I didn’t dislike Seungri, I liked him in some aspects but he didn’t really click with me like the others. His overly cocky, obnoxious yet attention seeking personality turned me off. Wasn’t interested half of the time. His constant loud mouth always interrupting the others to squeeze himself into the picture when the spotlight wasn’t on him every minute got annoying to watch.
I’ve always noticed to a different behavior the members had with Seungri. As you’re right they expressed so much affection and love towards Daesung without it being forced and fan-serviced. Nyongtory was so noticeably forceful while the chemistry between the other four was always out of realism and not planned. I remember somewhere reading that GD said in their Made movie that he sometimes didn’t feel comfortable with what Seungri had planned on stage of their little scripted, Fan-serviced skin ship drabbles. Seungri was the one who thought of all of the ideas and pursued GD into the act. Why? Well it’s obvious, right in front of you. GD is the most popular member and if Seungri continues to do Nyongtory fs services he gets attention from GD and fans. The one and only few things he thrived off of. Seungri was always aware he was the least mentioned member. While the other members never needed forceful fan service their affection was always natural.
Their messages were always more warning and said in a scolded manner for Seungri, like each time was a lesson they needed to comprehend into his pea sized brain. I’m aware that their screen time together many of these red flags flew over our heads, we didn’t worry or take it into consideration like we have now. It was right in the open for all of us to catch on sometime..
I continue to say this is why the members weren’t shocked or surprised with the news. The kind of crime and involvement? Absolutely, they most likely didn’t assume he’d screw up so horribly the whole country would hate his guts and shun away but enough to have him leave and get the boot out of the group. It’s seems they’ve always taken into consideration he’d leave on his own sometime.
For the sake of BigBang they seem like they’ll do just fine continuing on without him. They’ve made it this far, I’d be pretty surprising if they didn’t. I’m not sure if you are aware or this but the four members renewed their contracts with their company Yge last March. That April of 2020 they were schedule for a big music festival Coachella. The pandemic ruined that moment. They’ll be back soon enough. GD , TOP and Taeyang have given hints. No one else will be leaving. The charts, fandom, South Korea and more are missing their existence.
Lastly, If a newer vip like you can sense and see the discomfort and untrustworthy vibes from him than so can many other fans; new or old just by going back and noticing behaviors and phrases from old variety or concerts.

Brittana, Wemma, Cherry for the ship ask
Brittana
What made you ship it? Funny thing is, I knew about this ship for years but never intended to ship it and had so many misconceptions about them. I was so wrong! I started watching random clips of moments between the two last year (so I'm incredibly late to the Brittana shipping party lol) and really loved their dynamic. There's something about Santana being the serious/aggressive one who only lets her guard down around Brittany and the way she adores everything about Britt even though you no one would expect someone like her to love someone like Britt. It's the way she makes Santana smile the most.
What are your favorite things about the ship? I could practically write a thesis on this lol. There are so many things. The amazing chemistry between their actors, the hilarious moments between them, the fact that their personalities balance each other out so well like yin and yang, how unorthodox they are but yet how natural they are together, the slow build of their relationship from best friends to lovers to spouses, the tension and angst but also the elation when they finally made it. When it comes down to it, I guess it's the unconditional love between them that draws me back to the ship and I mean people talk about unconditional love/acceptance for a lot of ships but for these two I really felt it on another level.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Oof, so many, I wouldn't know where to start. I don't agree with the popular fandom interpretation that they were this "toxic" dynamic. No, not even in Season 2. Yes they have some flaws like any other relationship especially on Glee but they are one of the healthiest dynamics I've seen in anything fictional. I also don't agree that Santana manipulated her the whole time or that Santana was somehow this monster who destroyed all of Brittany's relationships with men. Those arguments take everything out of context and oversimplify what was going on. I could dissect each one of the ridiculous arguments I've seen from haters but that would just be too long for this post. Haters just gonna hate. Some people just have ship envy or wanna demonize either Britt or Santana or both I'll just say that.
Wemma
What made you ship it? Mostly the first half of Season 1. I had no intention whatsoever of shipping the two adult teachers but it was the whole build up to Season 1 Sectionals that made me want them to end up together. Then after that I never got invested much in them but hoped they would stay together.
What are your favorite things about the ship? Their vocal chemistry for one. Another thing is the chemistry between the actors. I like how she really adores everything about him and she was always so supportive of him even when his canon wife treated him horribly. I like how he tries really hard to support her as well despite sometimes making the wrong decisions, his heart is in the right place. They know each other's flaws and have seen each other at their most vulnerable but they still love each other.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I don't think Emma should have been with Carl at all or that Will was somehow this awful partner for Emma all the time
Cherry
What made you ship it? I don't really have any strong opinions on them, actually had never thought about the ship before but my friend Helbertinelli started sharing her headcanons for them and I was like "Oh yeah I can kinda see why you find them cute now!" because her explanations are so convincing but I'm still a Tike and Finchel shipper at heart.
What are your favorite things about the ship? Mostly the differences between them and the hilarity that could ensue because of them. For example her being so dramatic and loud while Mike is chill and shady in the background. Rachel is sheltered while Mike is more experienced. It’s an interesting contrast, although I see them more as a best friends type of relationship.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I've never really seen anyone talk about Cherry so not sure what the popular opinions would be.
