okay….y’all convinced me….
tgc boy’s in an apocalypse hc’s (kinda x reader)
isaacwhy
i think he’d survive pretty fucking long dare i say
resourceful
also strong so
and he knows how to shoot guns apparently
if u didn’t know how he’d 100% show u
kills snakes and yells at the ppl who complain that’s for dinner
“SOFT HANDS. YALL GOT SOFT HANDS”
def the type to speak to the walkers like they’re human before killing them
“oh brother you look like shit”
saves u extra food
tries to take the role of leader
gets shot down immediately
accidentally fucks around and finds out
like he does some shit couldn’t do legally beforehand and gets like mildly hurt
really observant over like u and the guys
listens for every sound
bigt
doesn’t take this shit seriously 9/10 times
finds a bandanna and it becomes his thing
“hey larry, do i look cool?” as he holds up an smg he stole off a dead guy
the one that cracks jokes even after a whole horde nearly killed y’all
“well—at least it wasn’t a close call”

gathers the items
tries to open a shop and basically gets told to go fuck himself

“bet ur missing ur vape right now isaac”
“i fucking hate u”
makes all the traps for like walkers and animals
complains every time u sleep in the woods
is adamant on when to switch watch shifts
like will shake u from a slumber if it’s ur turn
feel like he’d use a pistol idk
subconsciously handles most of the confrontations w ppl w isaac
freaks out when y’all don’t have somewhat clear water
and still wants to be as clean as possible so he will disappear to bathe in a lake if possible
loves surprising u w random shit he found as a little gift
yumi
sniper. and a good sniper too
maybe siege influenced him idk
kinda takes it the most seriously
“guys. enough. we don’t know what could be in here”
makes sure the rations are even smh
steals random leaves to pretend they’re weed and pretends to roll them for u
but would also steal flowers for u
“i’m done walking. there’s a building there”
somehow still dripped out
found a fanny bag and it’s his prized possession
doesn’t take shit from anyone
probably will curse a guy out and end up in a fight
that’s all my brain got got now

i seek your advice numbknee. i really wanna write my own kyman fics and i have so many ideas for them but i’ve never written a fic before and i’m frightened to dip my toes into it. i’m not a writer, i’ve never written before. like how do you just sit down ans qrite something??? jfkgk i’m so confused, what’s your process or do you have any writing tips? i ask you cuz i love your writing and i look forward to your posts a lot.
That's so awesome, good for you dude!! Writing can be a really fun creative hobby but I totally get where you're coming from. The first fic I ever wrote was for the adventure time fandom 10 years ago (yikes I'm old lol) and I was really scared to post it. I don't remember how exactly I got the courage to finally put it out there but it def feels like diving into the deep end. Just know that everyone has to start somewhere!
The good thing about fanfiction is that it's as "low stakes" as you can probably get when it comes to creative writing. It's not for a job, it's not for any academic assignment, it's just something you do for fun. And I think the culture around fanfiction understands that a lot of writers are amateurs and are generally supportive regardless of your starting level in terms of skill. Personally, I would rather read from an inexperienced writer who's clearly trying their best and has some interesting ideas over a more polished/experienced writer taking themselves too seriously or treating fanfic writing like a competition.
There's no single "correct" way to write, because ultimately you have to do what best suits your own style and preferences. But for me, I generally start out with an idea for a single scene that inspires me and come up with a story around that scene so it fits into a cohesive fic. For example, for my first kyman fic I initially had the idea in my head of Kyle being mesmerized by Cartman dressed in drag and impulsively making a first move on him. I worked backwards from there, so I had to come up with 1) why he was doing drag in the first place, 2) why Kyle would be there watching him, and 3) how they end up alone together so Kyle can make the first move. The last one was the trickiest for me to figure out for some reason, but eventually I came up with the idea of Cartman tripping in his giant heels and injuring himself so Kyle would have to help him inside the house. It was funny but also helped move the plot along.
Planning out the scenes ahead of time like this can help a lot, but also don't be afraid to change things up as you write it out if you think something else works better. Since you have a bunch of your own ideas, start out with the one scene/scenario that inspires you the most and plan it out from there. I'd suggest first writing a shorter one-shot since that's easier to plan for than a longer, multi-chaptered fic. There's a ton of resources online you can find to help with story structure if you're not sure where to start or how to build on your idea. (Like this video about the 6 essential questions of storytelling).
Other logistical things: Make sure you save your work frequently. Spell-check is your friend. If you're not comfortable asking someone to beta-read your fic, use text-to-speech or read it aloud yourself to help catch any mistakes and listen to how sentences flow. I highly recommend using AO3 to publish your work since it has a great tagging system and helps you get visibility because of that, but also ensures your work will stay safe from the whims of corporations destroying/erasing fanworks since it's independently run and funded.
One last thing to keep in mind: it's nice to get positive interaction from the fandom, but ultimately you should write for yourself and your own enjoyment. If you only write seeking the approval of others, you're never going to be happy because you're solely basing your writing's worth on strangers' opinions. There have definitely been fics I've written that didn't get as much interaction as I would have liked, but in the end I was happy I wrote it because it was something I could be proud of having made for myself as my own audience.
Hope this helps! Good luck 👍

Hello! I started playing Arknights a month back, and I wanted your advice; in your opinion, what are some good lower-rarity operators or peeps to level up? I’ve got some 5-6 stars, but they’re all out of my league except Ifrit, so I wanted to ask if you had any advice as to low-rarity ops to level, or if you knew of any places where I could see comparisons!
(Im super sorry about the long question btw I just don’t know where to look for this stuff haha)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When it comes to 1-3 stars, I would genuinely recommend you build most of them to some degree. Perhaps not E1L55 (their maximum), but at least Elite 1. Not only are they ridiculously cheap, but they come with powerful base skills that really get your passive income going. Once you have your base fully built and run by your 3 stars, you will never have to farm XP or LMD ever again, which frees up your sanity for things like material farming, or Actually Playing the Game.
4 stars are a bit more dependent on how you would actually want to play. Here's my list of raised 4 stars
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously since I've got tons of materials and XP to share I've raised a lot of these too, so let me pick out Four 4 stars I would always recommend to new players:
Myrtle - Far and away considered one of the best operators in the entire game and the little Durin girl that forcibly morphed Arknights harder than most 6 stars, Myrtle does 2 things: 1.) Print DP like crazy with S1, 2) Provide heals with her S2 and her E2's talent giving health regen to all vanguards. Myrtle annihilates your resource management problems with her obscene DP printing power, even if she's actually quite terrible at fighting with her poor ATK and block-1 nature.
Gravel - While not strictly a must E2, Gravel is a must-raise. Her Skill 2 provides her with a shield based on her max HP, while her Executor trait greatly reduces her redeployment time letting you throw her around the map. She can plug holes in your defensive line, take aggro from ranged enemies, save your units in danger by blocking the enemy for them, her versatility is insane. you WILL use her a lot when you're new, slowly forget about her as your units get stronger and your tactics get better, then come crawling back once you start playing hard content and realize all your strategies are nothing without her.
The Shifters - Rope and Shaw, the specialists with a pull and push skill. You'll want them E1 to have access to their level 7 skills, as levels 4 and 7 feature an increase to the strength of their shift abilities. Shove enemies into holes for an instant kill!
Cuora - Before you get strong enough to lay waste to all who even THINK about getting close to you, you're going to need a real tank to block dangerous enemies. When it comes to tanking up, even the higher rarity units have difficulty competing with Cuora. Her S2 makes her stop attacking and turtle up (heh) instead, gaining +1 to her block (so she becomes Block-4) as well as massively boosting her DEF and gaining HP regeneration on top of it. So long as the enemy isn't dealing Arts damage (these are usually squishy casters you can beat down), Cuora will be your rock.

Hi Oxi! Do you have any hcs about Martín learning how to use weapons and fight? What would be his fighting style and favorite weopon?
Hi, dear!
I do have the headcanon that he didn’t learn to use a weapon (or held one, for the matter of fact), until the Wars of Independence. I don’t think Antonio was a fan of training their kids, the more clueless they remain the easier it would be for him to handle them. That being said, Martín has always been a feisty boy who even at a young age was very easily lured into fights, so I do think he had his fair share of brawls rolling in the ground with other children. These childish brawls taught him to endure hits and give as good as he got, but they were not real fighting experience, were they? They just helped him build character, but it’s not as if it was any proper or real combat training.
I think he learnt to properly fight another man along the way watching the soldiers he fought with to kick Antonio out of his land. He was young and inexperienced, but didn’t like to show it so when a sword or a musket got shoved into his hands for the first time, he didn’t ask for help. He tried to figure it out on his own and I think it wasn’t until the men around him saw him taking a wrong stance or struggling to reload his gun that they showed him how it was done. So he’s mostly self-taught, his learning process involved a lot of trial and error and mimicking and well some occasional explanations here and there. There wasn’t really much time for training, so he learnt along the way.
The fact that he had no real training and had to learn mostly on his own makes me hc he doesn’t have a marked fighting style. I’d say the base of his close quarter combat style is boxing (no box expert here, but we have a few referents), but he’s picked things here and there, which makes his style blunt around the edges and unrefined but also unpredictable and flexible. Having no form makes him malleable and resourceful - he’s fast, smart and creative, and a quick learner too. He learns from his rivals and he’ll keep incorporating tricks even during a fight. To really sum his style up, I think he lacks polished skill but compensates it with attitude and a sharp mind.
That, combined with the fact that he’s stubborn and resilient, makes him an opponent that even at a disadvantage puts up a good fight. He may not be as strong or qualified as other opponents but he is not easily knocked down, he has plenty of stamina to bear down hit after hit. And this exactly is where I think his strength lies. He is not overpowering, he just cannot be overpowered. He knows he's not particularly strong (he's not weak, but he doesnt have the muscle Alfred or Ludwig or even Lulu have to their advantage) and he can tell when an oponent is brawnier than him, but he is RESILIENT. He's got stamina and can take hits. His oponent might hit harder, but can they endure the tear and wear as long as Martín? They are stronger, but are they just as resilient as him? He might not be able to take them down, but they wont be able to knock him down either. He's a tough nut to crack, the sort of guy who doesnt back down no matter how bad he's getting it. He can take hits like a punching bag.
As for his weapon of choice, I'd say fists but that's really not a weapon, is it? If I had to pick, I def would say a facón. He’s an expert handling knives, not just for countryside work but for knife fights too. Look at these pretty bad boys.

modpacks we've played
doubles as a handy list for ourselves and for our followers that want to check out modpacks
(not intended to be listed from most to least favorite but it accidentally ended up that way so uhh oops)
stoneblock / sb2
general thoughts: second one is much more polished and better. definitely good for multiple people to work on at once as a team. random rewards are actually useful and can give you good stuff early on!
thoughts on mods: thaumcraft is useless but is actually pretty cool if you choose to get into it. draconic is *chef's kiss* so fucking sexy, along with tinkers construct. resource chickens are GREAT. fluid cows need some polishing and take a stupid amount of wheat and time to get places with. anything past draconic (project E and so on) terrifies me so we haven't done much with it
thermal expansion is GREAT, the little machines make the best noises (esp. the pulverizer. ahhhh). flux networks is also great and i love the interface! ae2 is a pain but arguably fun to work with. i don't use immersive engineering for much tbh but it's good for making cloches :3
other mods are also useful but these are the ones i know off the top of my head by name
tips:
start chickens early on! they are great for getting loads of resources in the beginning of the game- most resources can be obtained through chickens. also, you can stack up to 16 chickens and breed them up to 10/10/10 in stats- if you do that, they'll give you 3 of their item about every second ago
yes, chicken boxes (nesting & breeding) are affected by the acceleration wand. NO they are NOT affected by imaginary time blocks. sorry lads
DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT CURSED EARTH UNLESS YOU ARE READY. enclose that shit in obsidian and have water buckets ready to turn it off in case something goes wrong. also, a little goes a very, very long way
have at least one cloche for wheat. you'll need both the seeds and the wheat itself (if you have too much wheat and not enough seeds, you can get one seed from 2 wheat in your crafting panel)
don't worry about the inventory crafting extension. it's cool and all but if you're anything like me you'll either forget you have it or hate it because it doesn't use the same interface as crafting tables/stations
the ME system (computer) is super time consuming to build but also extremely fucking useful. do yourself a favor and build that before any mob farms. your storage space will thank you
don't forget to add in optifine if you like to use it, and also be sure to slap this mod (not the rewritten version! that one may not work) in there so you can grow top tier inferium + nether star seeds in the cloches. note that you CAN'T grow neutronium in there, sorry :(
challenge ideas:
actually use thaumcraft lol
don't use the mining dimension. for this you'll need to do a LOT of hammering and sieving- luckily there are autohammers/sieves just for this! :)
---
skyfactory 4
general thoughts: hehe skyblock
really though, fun pack! great for working on as a team. in fact i'd honestly recommend it
thoughts on mods: sky orchards is time consuming but it's a nice way to gather resources! haven't used resource hogs at all, honestly not sure if they're necessary. tinkers is here and i LOVE the porcelain smeltery. very compact, very cute. can't remember a lot of other mods right now but the pack is generally pretty nice™
tips:
you can't smelt cobble in the porcelain smeltery to get seared stone, so try to use petrified resin blocks instead
get hopping bonsais asap! also remember that they need to be on a chest to deposit their contents
slab chests aren't really worth it. slab furnaces and tables though..... Slightly more worth it. i still wouldn't really recommend them except for the achievement tbh
if you don't want a super horizontal base, build up! you have a LOT of room to build upwards, and you have the ability to climb walls (jump, shift + w, then tap shift while holding w to get to the top)
if you're in a snowy biome, put something above your smeltery. snow will break it if it starts building up layers on the inside
slime boots are your best friend! great for if you accidentally fall off. easiest way to get them is building a smeltery and then standing in it for the congealed blood
nether portals don't work, don't spend time on making one! check out the cakes instead (just make sure you aren't making xl food mod ones)
---
compact claustrophobia
general thoughts: literal actual hell in a cube. fun! not the best for multiple people to work on as a team; there are certain places where the quest trees kinda bottleneck and it's difficult for people to work on the same thing. don't recommend if playing in tight spaces actually affects your claustrophobia
and yes. the fart sounds stop being funny after a while. like the second time tbh
thoughts on mods: i don't know most of the mods in here by name- or at least, ones that aren't also in sb2- so i can't give much in specifics. that said, whatever gives you the thermoelectric generators is great and really useful for power. also the autoclickers are 👌
tips:
do yourself a favor and grind for more tiny compact machines. you'll need some later and you'll also want to use them for extra space
autoclickers + vacuumulator + hopper and chest setup works Great, def recommend. also as a note, try to avoid standing in front of autoclickers that are left clicking- they DO hurt you
save your poop and work on getting a farm asap. you can use it as fuel that smelts up to 32 items if you just mix it with wheat
(i haven't played this as much as sb2 so unfortunately i don't have much to say)
challenge idea: only use one room of each size at a time. this is going to be nearly impossible given the size of a lot of machines, but trust me, it's (probably) possible
---
sevtech ages
general thoughts: bullshit. not in a fun way. it's really just complex for the sake of being complex tbfh. you want a challenge that's actually just hours upon hours of suffering? congrats here you go
the only thing that makes this better than rlcraft is the fact that it has an actual quest/achievement line and doesn't absolutely hate its players
thoughts on mods: the only cool one is whatever you build the totem pole and do dances for, that's it. maybe the dark forest place too bc it looks cool even if it IS a pain in the ass as well. tombstones are kinda useful too tbh
tips:
don't play this
if you still want to play this, don't
really though: the saw is useful
the watermill is arguably better than the windmill
try to set your base somewhere close to an ocean or river biome; those are the only places with unlimited water until you get aqueducts
get an autoclicker for grinding stuff with the lever. trust me your fingers will thank you
backpacks will be your new best friends. embrace this
getting through each age takes a LOT of time. don't feel bad for taking breaks
challenge ideas: honestly the game is hard enough on its own, i can't really think of anything that would make stuff harder... outside of maybe smth like "only do things manually, don't use horsepower" or whatever, which is just plain mean at this point
---
rlcraft
general thoughts: don't
thoughts on mods: just don't
tips:
love yourself
do not play this
don't even think about it
i know it's all haha fun youtube right now
but please don't do this to yourself
challenge idea: don't touch this ever
actually serious thoughts: super overrated. incredibly frustrating. another pack that isn't challenging so much as just fucking horrible. it's mean! it hates you! you'll eventually hate it too! i've sunk so much time into this and honestly? it's just not worth it. it really just isn't. nothing you do will ever please the gods of rlcraft and if you're lucky you'll build a nice sexy base that will be gone the next time you die because the game decided your bed wasn't valid :)
if you want an actual challenge, play compact claustrophobia. play packs that limit you in terms of space or resource gathering. don't play packs like this that are only hard because they spawn big fuckoff dragons that burn everything all the time constantly, or that respawn you fuck knows where bc somehow your bed unloaded or """got obstructed""", or that have mobs that will literally go through walls just to commit murder. oh and half the time you can't even sleep because it just randomly spawns a mob that can kill you!! just don't do it, man. your time and energy are worth more than that

hello!! i understand you have a lot of asks/chart readings in your inbox so i dont expect u to answer this promptly; take ur time!! i was just wondering what ur opinion on modern astrology is? and by that i particularly mean the influx of watered down/over-simplified astrology accounts/pages. those are how i got into astrology, but at the same time i think they are very generalized and can tend to encourage stereotypes (esp negative ones) abt the signs. ik this is a loaded question sorry dfkjgf
btw!! really enjoy ur account. i was considering making my own svt astrology blog months ago but didnt know if there was a "market" for it. very cool to see people of all levels + backgrounds so interested in astrology ^^ esp when it involves our favorite boys!
oh man that is a loaded question but i think about it a lot. i feel like the diplomatic answer for me would be that everyone is allowed to enjoy astrology to the degree that they choose, and just because i certainly have found a specific purpose for it doesn’t mean that everyone needs to abide by it. and tbh i greatly enjoy really ridiculous, playful astrology banter and i spend A LOT of time in the astrology memes sub reddit myself. so i don’t have a problem with people not taking astrology seriously or using simplified versions of it as tbh i don’t treat it too seriously either. like, so long as people are taking it as good humor then i really have no issue. lolol also, obviously i do take it seriously but i also don’t think astrology is the one true answer to anything. i feel like i’d be the last person to try and argue if astrology was real. and that’s mainly cuz, whether or not it’s based in science or cause & effect, doesn’t affect the way/reasons I use it.
with that being said, there is def a reason i have a seventeen astrology blog and not a general astrology one lololol (tbh i do have a general one but i do not use it). tumblr is 100% how i got into astrology, and so i do think it can be a great resource if you know what to avoid. but generally, i think a lot of people dismiss astrology BECAUSE of the way modern astrology packages it as both “fact” but also super one-dimensional. i also just wish people used astrology in a more positive way. i feel like i see too often posts that very clearly have specific preconceptions of certain signs and try to pass along their astrological theories as “evidence.” i also think there is a danger in people using astrology as validation for negative thoughts/habits. for me, i really go by the philosophy that we give meaning to our charts not the other way around. i just wish people put more care into the things they say, because i feel like people don’t realize the potential of someone building a negative perception of themselves through those statements. there is just no reason to put that negativity out there you know 😩
but thanks for such a good question and the support 😭 honestly i had no idea there would be an audience for it either. i made a post asking if anyone wanted it and i got like 10 likes and was like “thats good enough for me” lmao 😂 and i feel like having a svt astrology blog is such a positive thing because we really are all just here because we love our boys, and if i have the opportunity to give people some insight into their charts all the better, ya know?? lolololol but def lemme know if you ever want to exchange charts!! i’d love to talk more astrology with you~

Seung Ji-eun
░ “If you’re not paying for my time, then we’re done here.” ░
▶ Character Info
NAME / ALIASES: Seung Ji-eun // Juniper // Bubblegum B!tch
AGE: Only ever as old as the latest tech. Physically built in the image of a 26 year old Terran female.
GENDER / PRONOUNS: Fembot — She/Her/It/They, she’s heard it all. She’s built to be a little bit prissy, but she’ll accept all of the above and the occasional Princess.
HEIGHT: 188cm. Those legs were made for stomping. Don’t ask her how high she’ll bounce.
WEIGHT: 72kg. That last upgrade was surprisingly light.
VOICECLAIM: Pop Star Ahri
SPONSOR: Ancestor. We’re going all the way to stardom, babe.
▶ Lore
HOMEWORLD / PLANET: Cinixia is one of many moons circling the motherworld of the glamorous Aivu. With almost no natural resources of its own, it maintains an undesirable dusty and hazy climate. Most notably, is has a poor reputation that far precedes its punitive size, reknowned for being the sleazy, dirtbag satellite where technical junk and has-beens gets shipped from homeworld.
Aivu, on the other hand, is a popular celebrity destination in the small Alleyah solar system. Renowned for the exoticism of its services and cutting edge technology, Aivu certainly revels in its success, and has a highly exclusive clientele. Fine dining, gambling and slave trading are among some of the most popular pastimes on Aivu, where certain species or pets can be bought for small fortunes. Among the many high powered corporations that call it home, Synthenix stands out for their highly customisable options for android and cyborg wares. They primarily create aesthetic and cosmetic upgrades for multiple species, but are best known for their extensive choice of androids. These often find their way into the trading rings for being convincing replicas or even upgraded versions of some of the most popular species for sale.
If you fall out of favour in the high-powered rings of celebrities, it’s not uncommon to disappear and reappear somewhere much less glamorous… Say, in the bootleg fighting arenas of Cinixia. Cinixians make the most of it in the scrap-heaps — a good bet and a good bot could be your ticket off this shithole.
It’s no secret that the higher denizens of Aivu occasionally tune into the illegal fighting rings popular on Cinixia amongst the scrapper community. Some even deign to visit or watch it remotely if they enjoy betting on the matches. Bots and betting are the lifeblood of the moon; without it, they’d simply be a galactic dumping ground.
SPECIES: What you see here is the retrofitted shell of an official Synthenix Corporation Android. Built with luxury in mind, these androids are supposed to be a one-stop shop for premium personal service. You want a companion, entertainment, protection, a customisable escort, or all of the above? Synthenix has you covered.
They’re designed to be highly customisable, extremely user-friendly with a seamless and very convincingly realistic interface. The user is never without control though — all Synthenix androids have a built-in panic button and reset systems in case a machine ever goes rogue, or attempts to rebel. With an adaptive personality that responds to the user’s preferences and treatment, Synthenix machines should be anything you want them to be, but never upset the power balance between organic creatures and what they were designed to be.
There’s a lot of failed models and janky tests to get to that point of perfection and balance though… The scraps all get shunted off to Cinixia. It was only a few shipments at first, before it got out of hand, and an entire galactic community formed around the buffet table of tech junk. Critters come from all over to get a shot at building a masterpiece from the heap, or even upgrading their own builds from the lucrative trash.
June is a bootlegged Lapin Model, originally designed to be a versatile and highly functional product. Production of this line was stopped due to longevity issues. That’s nothing a bit of patchwork can’t fix though! Inspired by the bipedal Terrans and various other species, this colorful creation is one of the darker secrets of Cinixian battle-bots, and what happens when some of the most popular androids disappear from service. Her torso, upper arms and head all belong to the same original model. The rest of the body is shopped from different scrap sources, whose existence has been meticulously erased from living memory and records.
▶ Skills / Abilities
STATS: ATK (10) / DEF (0) / DEX (10) / CHR (10) / INTL (4) / HP (8)
Companion Bonus: +2 to ATK.
SECONDARY JOB / PROFESSION: Absolute diva. She’s trying to make it as an inter-planetary star and influencer using her success as a bounty hunter to improve her reach, but her roots are making it a little bit difficult to maintain the pastel princess image.
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Bunny Bounce — Space-kitty stuck in a tree? Love letter flown away? Don’t count on her generosity, but those legs aren’t just for show. A light tap will spring her forwards with enough force to relocate your ribs. The longer she gears up the jump, the further and faster she’ll bounce.
Batter Up! — June has pin-point accuracy thanks to those bionic eyes. Combine that with her bat, and she can ping just about any solid object with enough force to turn it into a bullet. Stones and shrapnel are her preferred striking choice.
Did’ja Hear That? — No tea or gossip is safe from this diva. Those ears are properly fitted with a microphone and speakers, which she can dial the sensitivity up or down on at will. Great for reconnaissance missions! Not so great for loud venues.
Hackerman is in the BUILDING — June can interface with simplistic tech and short-circuit it with an electrical pulse. If the surge is too big or backfires though, it’ll put her out of commission for a bit too while she reboots.
Who that, who that? — June is able to replicate and impersonate voices and other sounds based on a short sound-clip. She needs a couple words to be able to generate new convincing content, and more reference is always better. It’s particularly handy in both the pop industry and the bounty hunting industry too.

February 15th-February 21st, 2020 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from February 15th, 2020 to February 21st, 2020.  The chat focused on the following question:
If a company wanted to publish your comic or adapt it for animation or games, how willing would you be to change the story if requested to do so?
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
That's such a tough question just because it's such a goal for so many creators, and yet a potential threat to their creativity in a sense. As always, it will depend on what exactly would be changed in order for such a project to be given approval. If it has to do with censoring LGBTQ+ content, changing race for 'marketability' purposes and the like, or erasing a specific topic integral to the plot with relation to politics- then it's a no go. There are plenty enough watered down media that doesn't stretch itself with diversity those companies can have and the subtext they pepper in to stay relevant, def something i find irksome with todays media (its 2020 guys !!) But if it's maybe cutting a chapter that acts like filler, or adding a character ( so long as it is plot relevant) i could take that into consideration! I actually take some time to imagine what Ghost Junk would be in a diff form of media and usually in those scenarios, things change to fit the way its being presented! A video game will differ more than an anime adaptation for sure, so long as the original intent and impact is kept, i would definitely consider some change!
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
If I ever had the opportunity to pass my work off to a whole other team for an adaptation, I think I would take great joy in leaving them completely to it - barring a few obvious issues like race changes, gender/sexuality changes, and... changing the entire story to the point where it's unrecognizable. I love seeing reinterpretations of my work, and I understand that every adaptation would need changes of some form. My words and art aren't gospel - I'm open to any change if it improves the whole product. Whatever it takes to translate the material in the best way, which keeps the original message intact, is all good by me.
Changes in the actual comic would be harder to make - and I'd be far less comfortable with them, to be honest - but I wouldn't fight them if they obviously made the story/characters stronger. I've already added in ideas and reorganized plot threads based on reader feedback - luckily the story still has some places where it can bend. So long as a publisher took my basic story seriously, and aimed to remold it rather than remake it - I'd be down for a discussion. Hopefully a reputable publisher would know how best to sell my work, and would aim to make it as good as possible while maintaining integrity - I would try to trust them

Comic stays mine, won‘t be changed beyound perhaps some professional line edits and polish. There’s a reason I didn’t shop it around as a graphic novel. I’d actually like that eitherway, would love to get myself a professional editor when I have the money. Adaptions can go nuts, provided the main characters stay true to their comic versions and the woman-loves-woman storyline stays in.
Holmeaa - working on WAYFINDERS
For the story to be told in another medium I would be pretty game for it to change the story a bit. Already now we are changing the story from how we made as a campaign. Makeing it more streamlined and more precise. I wanted originally that our comic could be a TV show. I come from a background of a character animator so that would make sense for me. So seeing it animated would be awesome! There would be some designs that needed to change to fit animation better.
Like Andree has this texture in his skin that needed to go away. But seeing it animated would be awesooome
Deo101 [Millennium]
I think if my Characters stay in Character, then I'm fine with changing pretty much any of the plot or world things. But the Character dynamics and who they are as people is what matters most to me, and I'm not sure I would be willing to sacrifice that. With some of my stories I'd be willing to completely let go of the reins, and with others I definitely want a tighter grip, too.
sagaholmgaard
Agree with the thing about character dynamics. My stories always stem from the characters' relationships and how they evolve, so I'd like for the essence of that to stay. Otherwise I'm pretty loose about the plot itself. Because I have an education in game development, I would totally be down for my comic being adapted into a story driven game of some sort. I'd be okay with changing the story to favor the game mechanics, like putting certain magic abilities in the focus and turning certain scenes into gameplay (like when they're sneaking around or fighting). As long as my handful of core emotional moments come across, I'm pretty happy to change things.
Tuyetnhi
I agree with the character dynamics too. I don't feel comfortable if they change the character backgrounds along with it as well for er what Krispy said for "Markability". That stuff won't fly with me. Comic stuff stay the same but for adaptations, I want to make sure it has similar story beats even if there's a change on few details. Tbh I could totally see er....a visual novel game happening in my comic since that's what my original intention was going for. still at the end I really don't intend my comic to transend other mediums since i'm planning to self publish the story someday lol.
kayotics
I’d be pretty willing to change stuff, actually. I’d want to be pretty involved in whatever adaptation was being made in this hypothetical, but I know that more people can make for stronger work. On the other hand, too many cooks can make for some pretty watered down soup, which is why I’d want to have a large role in things so some of the core stuff doesn’t get changed. But as it is, I’m not married to any ideas that exist in my comic, and am pretty welcome to changes.
DanitheCarutor
If the changes were to benefit the story than I wouldn't mind, if they were going to change everything to make it appealing to the masses than no. Definitely not if they want to mess with the characters since how they are play a major role in the comic. I've got a really specific story I'm trying to tell, so I'm very stingy on changes. If anything I'd be more open to a company making a spin-off or something not totally related to the main story, as long as it's not a complete bastardization. Other than free advertising and the brand name, I don't really see how getting published would benefit me anyway? I'm already in the process of rescanning and re-editing the first four chapters of my comic for self-publishing, if I really wanted to adapt it into an animation I would just do it myself. Along with teaching myself whatever else I needed to get as little help as possible. Sure, I have no experience but it's not like I can't learn, there are classes and free tutorials all over the internet. I've always wanted to get into animating. I can't imagine my comic being adapted into game, what would it even be? An anti-dating sim? An interactive novel? An Apollo drinking simulator?

eli [a winged tale]
The dream is a studio ghibli adaption but that won’t be happening I would want to vet the studio/company proposing the adaption and ensure that we are a good fit. I echo what many of you have said about the integrity of the characters and heart of the story. There are a lot of secrets that will come to unravel as the comic progresses and I hope the publisher will be accepting of them. I will be happy to have a conversation on why these structural changes are there and why I think it’s important to allow them to reach a wider audience. That said, I am also eager to see how they would themselves interpret the story and I will give creative freedom to that. Again, it’s a dream and while I would love to direct my own film, I simply don’t have the resources to do it (at this time). https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODQ3MzIzMTM3NjY4MDA0?igshid=15bnlhamdu3tn&story_media_id=2149085305360952847
Capitania we should just have a super smash bros of all our comic characters
renieplayerone
I think like a lot of people here have already said, Im not changing anyones race, gender identity or sexuality. Otherwise? I'd be really curious what someone else's perspectives could bring to my work if it ever got adapted. I have ideas for comics that are written like they could be movies too, but idk. Its fun trying to write thinking of other mediums
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Im pretty much in the same camp of make changes as it makes sense, but stay true to the core. In the case of a live action thing being made of my story, I would actually be super ok with a POC actor filling the role of any of the white presenting characters. Or actors with different body shapes that what I'd originally draw. More diversity in film is always good
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
outside of censorship, I would be fine with most story changes? with that said, good luck lol. there are very few scenes I think can be cut out of the story without supremely messing up later scenes. every magic ability on-screen is important in some way, a bunch of random background characters end up coming back & getting way more focus later on, etc. add filler, sure, but there's really not much you can cut out without messing up the entire story down the line.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I'm pretty open to the idea of changing some details to fit a different medium better. The big thing that I wouldn't want changed in Whispers of the Past (https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/whispers-of-the-past/list?title_no=191366) is the characters' races. Since the story explores the idea of culture-shock and cultural identity, and the races/cultures are integral to world-building, it would be stupid the change the characters' appearances/races willy nilly. And besides, we don't want what happened to Eragon or Percy Jackson when they became movies. Congratulations on completely killing a franchise But yeah, as long as races and major plot details aren't changed too much, I'm really open to adjusting things. As an example, cutting out smexy times or making the language a bit friendlier to a wide audience, fine by me. But changing Kelan to a blacksmith instead of a farmer... Why???? I would need a good reason to do something like that. (I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU, ERAGON! WHY WAS RORAN JOINING THE ARMY RANDOMLY, INSTEAD OF BECOMING A MILLER? ISN'T THE ARMY WORKING FOR THE EVIL KING WHO TAXES THEM HEAVILY? EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.) I'm actually pretty scared about the whole race thing. I mean, Hollywood also ruined The ]
if the adaptation is Bad I can always just, like, disown it lmao
Deo101 [Millennium]
clearly im the one with the ideas here B) soo
LMAO yea
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
If it was being published as a comic, I don’t think I’d be willing to change too much- though that would depend a great deal in what kind of change. Cleaning up some wonky dialogue? That would probably be fine. Censorship? Absolutely not. Changing my LGBTQ+ characters’ gender / orientation to appeal to the mainstream? Really absolutely not. If being adapted to a different medium, I’d be much more willing to change things around, but would still insist my minority characters not change their identities. But I understand that as far as plot goes, different mediums call for different approaches. I’m planning on writing my comics as novels someday, and will be taking a much different approach to them. The plots will definitely be altered a great deal to better fit being written in prose.(edited)
AntiBunny
It honestly depends on what the changes were. There's a fair amount I'd change myself. A few core things I'd certainly not change though.
In AntiBunny http://AntiBunny.net/ for instance I could see some people missing the point of Penelope's character being a pacifist and wanting to make her some kind of badass, as if the only kind of strength there is comes from violence. I wouldn't remove the question of Pooky's gender, as in order to ask the question of "what is identity" I stripped Pooky of everything including even a mental construct of gender.
Some things I would change though. Likely I would cut the first two chapters and start at the 3rd when the plot actually gets moving. So demands for a faster flowing plot I could certainly meet. I'd probably cut few extra characters from the cast to streamline things a bit.
So yes for the purposes of streamlining things I'd make changes. I wouldn't make changes that would go against the entire point of the cahracters though.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Oh, a conversation in #general reminded me of something else regarding adapting Super Galaxy Knights Deluxe R - If the comic is to be adapted with no changes at all, it'd be a legal nightmare. Off the top of my head, these are properties that have been directly stated in dialogue - - Yahtzee - Risk - Mario Kart - Settlers of Catan - Pokemon - Disney's Frozen I don't think you could technically get in trouble for any of those? It's not like anything copyrighted was shown on screen, it's just characters talking about things they've seen before. But a publisher would probably want to play it safe and avoid that. Also... the NFL might get mad at the publisher if the gang names in Cunoze City aren't changed? Like I don't ever say the team location, so technically full team names are never used... but again, it's probably best to play it safe.
Desnik
I'd be pretty flexible with changes, but if I have to take out demons to appeal to the Evangelical Christian states of America then obvs that's not going to work out
(And you wouldn't think that'd be a Thing to this day, but apparently it's been sort of this unspoken rule in book publishing since the Satanic Panic of the 80's in the US)
Some changes I'd be okay with: Adjusting ages of characters to appeal to target demographics, removing scenes that are difficult to draw, tweaking characters to be either more or less horrible depending on their role in the story
FeatheryJustice
I will be flexible to a point and the limit of this point is pretty align to my morals. If the editor tells me to include some weird things like "You must have a scene where this guy licks the curtains" I would also be like "What is the point of this scene."(edited)
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
“Your protagonist must fight a giant spider in the third act.”
Deo101 [Millennium]
I mean, if you bring up giant spiders in the first act... well...
Q (Wayfinders: Off Course)
Turn it around: if your protag must fight spiders in the third act, well, time to bring in the spiders in the first..?
AntiBunny
The more I think of it, the more I realize that the most likely thing I'd be asked to change in AntiBunny is to either tone down the violence and grimdark for kids, or make it even raunchier to appeal to the "mature" (not mature at all) animation market (Seth McFarlane's audience).
My own comic keeps it rather PG-13, but there's not much market for animation in that field, at least in America. Seems like it's all either kid friendly stories where no one dies or if they do it's off screen (people get shot and stabbed in my comic) or there's the opposite with dropping F bombs every other line and filling it with sex jokes.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Hey, I mean, never say never. Off the top of my head, Futurama and the Samurai Jack revival were both western cartoons that I'd put solidly in PG-13 territory. Both shows were able to go adult when they needed to be, but they didn't take that as a blank check to go into "rated R" territory for the shock of it.

A very special fireside interview with XUXA SANTAMARIA
Check Insta for our thoughts on this landmark album from Oakland duo XUXA SANTAMARIA. Stay right where you are to read a really fun interview I scored with the band this week. They’ve just released Chancletas D’Oro on Ratskin Records out of Oakland and Michael blessed me with my very own copy. It was so good I knew I needed to tell you all about it and I wanted to pick their brains a little bit, too. Without further ado, please enjoy:
//INTERVIEW
You’re still breaking into indie world at large, but you’ve already got a huge following back in California and your home-base in Oakland. What has it been like to be featured in major outlets like The Fader?
SC: We are a funny project; we ebb and flow from being total hermits to having periods of relatively high visibility (relative to aforementioned hermit state). I wouldn’t say we have a huuuge following in CA but I do think that the ‘fandom’ we’ve developed here is really genuine because we don’t play shows out of an obligation to remain visible but instead do so because we feel super passionate about the work and the audience and I think people respond to that energy. I for one, and perhaps this is because of my background in performance, have a hard time performing the same stuff over and over without change which accounts for us being selective with our playing live. That’s also why videos are such an important part of what we’re about. The piece in The Fader was important to the launch of this album because it established some of the themes and, to an extent, the aesthetics of this album in a way that can be experienced outside of a live setting. None of this is to say we don’t like playing live, in fact we love it, we just like to make our sets pleasurable to ourselves and to our audience by constantly reworking it. We strike a weird balance for sure but we’ve made peace with it. If we ever ‘make it’ (lol) it’ll be on these terms.
Chancletas D'Oro is a pretty incredible record and while it reminds me of a few bands here or there, it’s got a really fresh and unique style that merges dance with all sorts of flavors. How would you describe your music to someone who is curious to listen?
MGK: Haha, we generally struggle to describe our music in a short, neat way (not because we make some kind of impossible-to-categorize music, but just because it’s the synthesis of a ton of different influences and it’s hard for US to perceive clearly). But with that caveat in mind - IDK, bilingual art-punk influenced dance/electronic music?
SC: Thank you for saying so, we’re pretty into it :) Like Matt says, we struggle to pin it down which I think is in part to what he says – our particular taste being all over the place, from Drexciya to The Kinks to Hector Lavoe- but I think this slipperiness has a relationship to our concept making and world building. As creative people we make and intake culture like sharks, always moving, never staying in one place too long. Maybe it’s because we’re both so severely ADHD (a boon in this instance tbh) that we don’t sit still in terms of what we consume and I think naturally that results in an output that is similarly traveling. Point is, the instance a set of words - ‘electronic’, ‘dance’, ‘punk’- feel right for the music is the same instance they are not sufficient. I propose something like: the sound of a rainforest on the edge of a city, breathy but bombastic, music made by machines to dance to, pleasurably, while also feeling some of the sensual pathos of late capitalism as seen from the bottom of the hill.
The internet tells me you’ve been making music as Xuxa Santamaria for a decade now. What has the evolution and development of your songwriting been like over those ten years?
MGK: Well, when we first started out as a band we were so new to making electronic music (Sofia’s background was in the art world and mine was in more guitar-based ‘indie rock’ I guess - lots of smoking weed and making 4 track tapes haha), so we legit forgot to put bass parts on like half the songs on our first album LOL. We’ve learned a lot since then! But in seriousness, we’ve definitely gotten better at bouncing ideas back and forth, at putting in a ton of different parts and then pulling stuff back, and the process is really dynamic and entertaining for both of us.
SC: This project started out somewhat unusually: I was in graduate school and beginning what would become a performance practice. I had hit a creative roadblock working with photography - the medium I was in school to develop- and after reading Frank Kogan’s Real Punks Don’t Wear Black felt this urge to make music as a document of experience following Kogan’s excellent essay on how punk and disco served as spatial receptacles for a wealth of experiences not present in the mainstream of the time. I extrapolated from this notion the idea that popular dance genres like Salsa, early Hip Hop, and Latin Freestyle among many others, had served a similar purpose for protagonists of a myriad Caribbean diasporas. These genres in turn served as sonic spaces to record, even if indirectly, the lived experiences of the coming and going from one’s native island to the mainland US wherein new colonial identities are placed upon you. From this I decided to create an alter ego (ChuCha Santamaria, where our band name originally stems from) to narrate a fantastical version of the history of Puerto Rico post 1492 via dance music. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing but I look back on that album (ChuCha Santamaria y Usted - on vinyl from Young Cubs Records) fondly. It’s rough and strange and we’ve come so far from that sound but it’s a key part of our trajectory. Though my songwriting has evolved to move beyond the subjective scope of this first album - I want to be more inclusive of other marginalized spaces- , it was key that we cut our teeth making it. We are proud to be in the grand tradition of making an album with limited resources and no experience :P
We’re a big community of vinyl enthusiasts and record collectors so first and foremost, thanks for making this available on vinyl. What does the vinyl medium mean to you as individuals and/or as a band?
MGK: I think for us, it’s the combination of the following: A. The experience of listening in a more considered way, a side at a time. B. Tons of real estate for graphics and design and details. C. The sound, duh!
SC: In addition to Matt’s list, I would just say that I approach making an album that will exist in record form as though we were honing a talisman. Its objecthood is very important. It contains a lot of possibility and energy meant to zap you the moment you see it/ hold it. I imagine the encounter with it as having a sequence: first, the graphics - given ample space unlike any other musical medium/substrate- begin to tell a story, vaguely at first. Then, the experience of the music being segmented into Side A and Side B dictate a use of time that is impervious to - at the risk of sounding like an oldie - our contemporary habit of hitting ‘shuffle’ or ‘skip’. Sequencing is thus super important to us (this album has very distinct dynamics at play between sides a/b ). We rarely work outside of a concept so while I take no issue with the current mode of music dissemination, that of prioritizing singles, it doesn’t really work for how we write music.
MGK: We definitely both remain in love with the ‘album as art object/cohesive work’ ideal, so I would say definitely - we care a lot about track sequencing, always think in terms of “Side A/Side B” (each one should be a distinct experience), and details like album art/inserts/LP labels etc matter a lot to us.
What records or albums were most important to you growing up? Which ones do you feel influenced your music the most?
SC: I know they’re canceled cus of that one guy but I listened to Ace of Base’s The Sign a lot as a kid and I think that sorta stuff has a way of sticking with you. I always point to the slippery role language plays in them being a Swedish band singing in English being consumed by a not-yet-English speaking Sofía in Puerto Rico in the mid 90s. Other influences from childhood include Garbage, Spice Girls, Brandy + Monica’s The Boy is Mine, Aaliyah, Gloria Trevi, Olga Tañon etc etc. In terms of who influences me now, that’s a moving target but I’d say for this album I thought a lot about the sound and style of Kate Bush, Technotronic, Black Box, Steely Dan, ‘Ray of Light’-era Madonna plus a million things I’m forgetting.
MGK: Idk, probably a mix of 70-80s art rock/punk/postpunk (Stooges, Roxy Music, John Cale, Eno, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, Wire, Buzzcocks, etc etc), disco/post-disco R&B and dance music (Prince, George Clinton, Chic, Kid Creole), 90s pop + R&B + hip hop (Missy & Timbaland, Outkast/Dungeon Family production-wise are obviously awe-inspiring, So So Def comps, Jock Jams comps, Garbage & Hole & Massive Attack & so on), and unloved pop trash of all eras and styles.
Do you have any “white whale” records that you’ve yet to find?
MGK: Ha - the truth is that we’re both much more of a “what weird shit that we’ve never heard of can we find in the bargain bin” type of record buyer than “I have a custom list of $50 plus records on my discogs account that I lust over”.
SC: Not really, I’m wary of collectorship. That sort of ownership might have an appeal in the hunt, once you have it do you really use it, enjoy it? Funnily, I have a massive collection of salsa records that has entries a lot of music nerds would cry over (though they’re far from good condition, the spines were destroyed by my Abuela’s cat, Misita lol, but some are first pressings in small runs). For me its value however, comes from its link to family, as documents from another time and as an amazing capsule of some of the best music out of the Caribbean. I’m glad I am their guardian (a lot of this stuff is hard to find elsewhere, even digitally) but I live with those records, they’re not hidden away in archival sleeves, in fact, I use some of that music in my other work. Other than that, the records I covet are either those of friends or copies of albums that hold significance but which are likely readily available, Kate Bush’s The Dreaming or Love’s Forever Changes, or The Byrds Sweetheart of The Rodeo as random examples
Finally, is there a piece of interesting band trivia you’ve never shared in another interview?
SC: haha, not really? Maybe that we just had a baby together?
//
Congrats on your new baby, and also for this wonderful new album. It was a pleasure chatting with you and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you and your music!

Marvel/Star Trek AU
So I’ve seen at least one crossover prompt for Marvel/Star Trek. Can’t even remember if they were on tumblr or pinterest now, but the concept got stuck in my head and rattled around for days, and I bugged my best friend about it, and I’m never gonna get around to putting it in prose (because lazy), but fwiw here’s my embarrassingly huge take on it …
Set in the Kelvinverse ‘cause my twisted little heart wants to see Kirk meet Thor and they give each other a look. Then Uhura meets Gamora and they give each other a look. Somehow I can work in Bones meeting Skurge ... and Strange meeting Khan ... and Heimdall meeting Krall and omg there are so many of these ... *polishes shoehorn*
The crew of the USS Avenger
Captain Steve Rogers
First Officer Tony Stark
Helmsman Clint Barton
Navigator Peter Parker
Chief Communications Officer Wanda Maximoff
Chief Medical Officer Stephen Strange
Ship’s Counselor Sam Wilson
Counselor-in-Training Mantis
Chief Science Officer Bruce Banner
Chief Security Officer T’Challa
Chief Tactical Officer Gamora
Master at Arms Natasha Romanoff
Chief Engineer Vision
Some Alien Hitchhiker Thor
His Trickster Brother Loki
The Starfleet Officer They’re Rescuing from the Borg (although they don’t know it’s the Borg yet) James “Bucky” Barnes
The Space Pirates in the Brig: Peter “Star Lord” Quill, Drax “The Destroyer”, Rocket Raccoon and Groot
The Kree Defector Mar-Vell
The Skrull Defector Talos
Bartender Korg
Other Starfleet ppl
Commodore Carol Danvers
Her First Officer Maria Rambeau
Vice Admiral James Rhodes
Admiral Nick Fury
Villains
Ronan the Accuser
K’lrt the Super Skrull
Yondu Udonta (sort of)
Nebula (sort of)
Venom (sort of)
Galactus/Heralds
The Sovereign
The Grandmaster
Thanos
Hydra (hiding within Starfleet)
Pt 1
The crew of the Avenger assemble for her maiden voyage. Captain Steve Rogers, only recently awaken from cryogenic stasis, was thought lost on the mission that cost him his entire crew (and best friend Lt. James Barnes). Finding him alive on his stranded ship gave Starfleet hope that others had survived, so they give him a ship and send him in search of his crew. He doesn’t remember what happened all those years ago, but he knows in his gut that at least some of his friends are still out there.
Captain Rogers is not particularly happy with his first officer, Commander Tony Stark, finding him insufferably arrogant and a bit of a maverick. But Stark’s father was Rogers’ chief science officer on the lost mission, so he tolerates him (and can never question his dedication to the current mission). Stark, likewise, doesn’t think much of Rogers, finding him naïve and too self-righteous. But he tries to be friendly (for his father’s sake) even if he’s concerned that the memory-challenged captain isn’t up to the task ahead of them.
Their first stop is a Starfleet outpost on the planet Bellerophon so the crew can stretch their legs before the next phase of the journey. While there, the settlement comes under attack from a Kree exploratory vessel, and prisoners are taken to an impromptu Kree base in the mountains. Commander Stark, injured in the attack, is among those taken. Returning to the Avenger, Captain Rogers does battle with the Kree ship, destroying it.
    Pt 2
Back on Bellerophon, Dr. Strange scrambles to save Tony’s life. While they wait to be found, Tony builds a weaponized suit, which he uses to take over the Kree camp and free the prisoners. They have to travel over rough terrain to get back to the outpost, and Stark’s health deteriorates.
Leading the away team, Cap finds the prisoners and has a bit of a flashback when he sees Stark’s new arc reactor (which reminds him of what Howard was working on before the Incident). He’s starting to like his first officer, now that he’s seen his courage and resourcefulness in action.
There was also some random dude who helped save people from the Kree base, and he claims to be an exiled alien prince who needs a ride off this backwater planet.
The rest of Season 1
Everyone gets their powers - gamma explosion for Bruce, alien spiders for Peter, Thor finally finds Mjolnir, Strange accidentally bonds with an ancient alien artifact (which was hiding the Time Stone all along, but they won’t find that out until like Season 5), Vision has to save Wanda with the Mind Stone or something, Tony and T’challa design weapons for everyone, etc, etc, etc.
They fight some random bad guys while trying to stay out of the Kree/Skrull drama. Loki pulls some Q shenanigans.
Season 2
They arrest the Guardians and we find out Gamora’s tragic backstory. Quill convinces her to dick off for a while and try to kill her dad, and Mantis gets swept up in the escape. They get their own separate storyline, but the Avengers always have their back in a pinch.
Venom gets on the ship somehow, and they have to spend like three episodes getting rid of it (or Eddie’s a crewmember and they just let it stick around - could def come in handy in a fight).
While still trying to avoid drama, they somehow get saddled with Mar-Vell and Talos thus becoming a huge target for both the Skrulls and the Kree.
Season 3
Cap’s finally defragging his memory as they explore the region where his first ship was found. They follow his hunch and find evidence that the rest of the crew were stranded on a habitable planet and survived for several years before succumbing to hunger/illness/the elements/predators/what have you. But Bucky wasn’t with them! Maybe while they’re sad and conflicted, Cap and Tony finally hook up (but because this is a soap space opera, they try to just be coworkers again afterward).
The Avenger gets in trouble somewhere and Commodore Danvers has to come save their asses, looking Disappointed In Them the whole time.
A three- or four-ep arc on Sakaar for some vintage Trek fight-to-the-death goodness. They pick up Valkyrie, and Loki becomes a not-so-trusted ally.
(season finale) While dealing with the Power Stone, The Collector maybe gives the Guardians a lead on Bucky, which they relay to Cap.
Season 4
I COULD GO ON, BUT THIS HAS TO STOP SOMEWHERE.
SOMETHING, SOMETHING, GALACTUS, INFINITY STONES, STUCKONY IS ENDGAME.
*flails hands wildly*

Anonymous said: What skin do you use on your male models? It looks the same as the female one but I can’t find it in CAS.
Check my resource page for my default. I don’t have the overlay labeled on there but in the next few days when I have my male model for download it will be listed there.
Anonymous said: I love your whistle skinny jeans alot, I was wondering if you were ever thinking about making one without the jacket around the waist? Sorry for wasting your time :P
That is sadly out of my ability :( but I am glad u like my whistle skinny jeans!! Not a waste of time to give someone a compliment
Anonymous said: Not exactly an ask but. I love your cc, you create beautiful content, and no matter what others say someone is gonna like it :)
Thank you soooo much omfg I really fucking appreciate stuff like this.

@raivynmoon said: Omg why do you always get so much hate from anons? I’ll tell you why, because you’re doing things right and toxic people get jealous. Don’t mind the haters, you’re amazing! Happy new year ❤️
I actually don’t get that much hate! I never really pay them any mind bc I know as long as it is something I like that I will release it. People do def prob get jealous they can’t mesh stuff that well, not saying I am the god at it, but I do have some talent in that area from doing it for a while. Happy new year to you too!!! and thank you for the ask <3
Anonymous said: hey i just want to say that all of your cc is amazing, you put so much time and effort into it. of course everyone can give you feedback and opinions about what you make, but you are the creator so you can do whatever you want with it. that anon below was just rude, inconsiderate, and isn’t really helping anyone. that person obviously doesn’t make cc hair, because im sure then they would understand and not be a total jerk about it. maybe they should just stick to makeup, instead of hating.
<-- what she said (thank youuu)
Anonymous said: well I think that all of the hair you make is really great, even if not everyone likes it. You spend so much time making these amazing hairs and shout-out to the person below: why would you waste your time hating on somebody else’s hard work when you could be creating makeup cc? You don’t put your effort and time into creating this kind of stuff, of course I know you were also giving feedback.
Thank you <3

Anonymous said: I'd just like to say that the hair looks pretty, honestly your hairs are always high quality and never fail to dissapoint, I'd just say that it could be a little puffier on the sides, and over all ignore the haters, they probably couldn't make anything close to what you're making! Luvs.
Thank you!! I tried puffing the sides up some, here is a comparison pic:

@twirlyb said: I love the idea of the hair and I think it looks good so far but so you think that there's anyway to add for volume? I love the hair that it's based on and I really want to have it in game. I Completely understand if it's not an option but I though I would ask anyway. Btw I think your hairs are amazing. I went mostly cc free for a while (not anymore could handle not having cc but) and the only things I kept were my defaults and some of your hairs that I absolutely can not live without.
Refer above lmao
@cutesimmer23 said: Hi , anonimus , I have a message for you. If you think Austin's cc is trashy , it's just your opinion. His ccs are one of my top favourites , and I support him in all that he does , even if that's not too good. He tries to do something and , even it's not perfect at the first time , he tries to perfect it. I really love his cc . And I have something more to say. If you are that good at cc give Austin a message (not anonimously) and then we will see who's the best. We love you, Austin!
Thank you <3 You're lovely for sending me this

What is the technology level of the "duct-tape realms" in Ilya Serina? (steampunk, high fantasy/LOTR-esque, more advanced than earth, etc?)
This is gonna be a long answer, mainly because in order to answer this, I have to explain how the Serin works. For the record, this is based off of how it works in Fall of Ilya Serina- I don’t know what’ll happen in Starlight so let’s work off the timeline I know.
The Serin is a world of pure creation. (Long ago, it was based off of Minecraft. Five or six or maybe even eight years ago. It also has a nod to CS Lewis’ Wood Between the Worlds- he should’ve done more with that and he didn’t so I’m taking the idea and fucking running with it.)
Nothing stays in the same place. You see mountains on the horizon, by the time you get there, it’s a fucking forest. Fuck you, fuck your “cartography”. Shit moves around and it’s the portals to the other realms that don’t. There are specific locations, of course, they just move the fuck around.
It’s like- you make a puzzle with a map image on it. But the puzzle pieces are squares. They can fit anywhere, in any combination. There are little lights, though, on the board that will glow through the puzzle no matter what piece is on top of it. There are locations on the pieces- civilization, certain mountain ranges, forests, lowlands- but the pieces themselves just fuckin move around.
In Fall, it is canon that locations wander in large, wobbly, looping paths in the daytime and move towards the centre of the Serin at night. The Serin itself is kind of shaped like a donut- the sun sets and rises in the center, and the moon circles the outskirts. For these reasons, eclipses are quite common.
It is also canon in Fall that the Serin is largely conscious, if not sentient. It is aware of its inhabitants and how they are different from world-travellers who are passing through. If there is something in the Serin that it doesn’t like, you will know. Because it will take the problem and put it in your way. As many times as it takes for you to fix it. (That actually happened in Fall, too- Lusmos, Jules, Kinefira, Ophi, and Tarathiel were getting to Ilya Katayona and it put a mountain in their way three times before they went and fixed the problem, which was Lillith was stealing all the dragons meant to protect that area of the Serin.)
The Serin is however, lazy as fuck. It will sometimes mess with you and shove a forest in your way every now and then. But it won’t shove a whole lot of objects, like a city, in your way more than once. It doesn’t like moving more than one thing at a time to fuck with just one person or group. If you see the same thing twice and you’ve already passed it once, it’s because the Serin wants you to check it out.
Hence, maps are virtually useless. But then, Pale, why the fuck does anyone live there, and how? Well, they make do. In the many languages of the many species found in the Serin, in Jules’ words, you are less likely to come across a word that means ‘tower’ than you are to find one that means roughly ‘tall thin structure’.
Because the Serin, on top of moving shit around and fucking with people and being awful to deal with, looks differently to different people. What one person sees as a crack-like ravine full of trees just in front of them will appear as a river to someone else. What one person views as using large crystal spires to walk across is what another might see as walkways between old buildings made out of steel and large wires.
Jules explained this neatly to Tarathiel like this: It’s like 3D modeling. The models themselves don’t change, but the painted textures sure do.
So maps and most directions of any sort are nigh impossible to make. In Fall, Jules found the formula the Serin uses to move things and used that, plus a general location network and a few other things and actually made a smartphone app that can work as a navigational tool for the Serin. Tarathiel uses this app to get herself to Ilya Taranisi to go rescue Lusmos in Fall, which befits the following cut from the novel:
I pulled out my phone and opened up Jules’ map app, to see what it wanted me to do. Firstly it started searching for a signal. The tip below the searching icon said “Tip: Get somewhere high. It’s easier to catch a signal.” Well, I was up high, so there wasn’t much of an issue there. After about thirty seconds of a cheerful “Searching for signal...”, it displayed a quick “Signal found!” followed by a “Connecting to signal...” A few seconds after that, it told me that it had found a signal, and then the popup went away, followed by a very Google-Maps like display. I noticed a search icon, and just to see if I could, searched for Ilya Taranisi. Jules’ app would probably save my life, so going after his god first seemed like a good idea. The only search result was for Ilya Taranisi, with two options: About and Get Directions. Hell, let’s get directions to Ilya Taranisi.
(Tarathiel is somewhat tech savvy, being from Ilya Tirana and having some adventures in Ilya Karina, homeworld to Maria Leuite and the solarpunk-style theme of pure science.)
And that’s how the Serin works. That all being known now, what sort of tech do the different civilizations in the Serin have?
There is no good way to answer this- different civilizations will have different resources and abilities. I’d like to say nobody in the Serin has anything like steampower or higher, since if they did they’d know better than to stay there in the duct tape realm that quite literally makes a game out of trying to kill you.
Most of the Serin’s civilizations have few trade routes if any at all, so they’re largely isolated from each other. Nomadic species are very likely to get wiped out with little trace of having ever existed. The ones that survive, like Kinefira’s changeling hive and the Maybo, learned to do so by clinging to their roots and not moving very far from their headquarters and capitals.
Those two are actually two of the few documented civilizations- I haven’t stuck my protagonists in the Serin much, and those two are the only ones that have cropped up except for the occasional village that has accepted their fate and relies mainly on trade and worship to survive. (The Serin is nicer to those who worship the gods, if only because getting the faithful killed isn’t usually wise.)
Kinefira’s changelings are largely militaristic, and have figured out metalworking and some agriculture, though they largely gather considering their area is generally a forest to people, and always bears edible things. Winter does not strike the area too often because of how deep the forest is. (It’s like a lake, but replace water with trees. Elk as big as whales and entire civilizations in certain divisions like the oceanic ones- like the bathypelagic division from 700-1000m deep in the ocean. Forests do this in our world to a point, with different lifeforms appearing at different depths of the forest depending on the height of the trees, but the Changeling Forest takes it to an extreme.) They live at the bottom centre of the forest at the deepest point, so it’s very humid and very hot and their metalworking underground, below their fortress, makes it no more bearable.
The Maybo, on the other hand, are a friendly bunch who don’t really disturb anyone and generally just harass each other when they feel like it. This is the description I wrote for them in Fall, and if you want to draw it, be my guest because I sure as hell can’t.
The city grew closer, and soon, I stopped at its edge, in awe of the movie-elf-like craftsmanship in everything. And then I caught sight of what must’ve been a Maybo: they were odd little creatures, actually. They were about as tall as most halflings and some gnomes, but incredibly thin and short-limbed. They were covered in fur for the most part: their forearms, heels, and around their eyes seemed to be scaled. Their fur was far longer on their back, giving off an interesting look when combined with long, faun-like ears. This Maybo’s longer fur was kept tied in what looked like a ponytail, just below their tailbone. They had an angelic looking tail, but with fur instead of feathers at the end. It was impossible to tell if they had a male-female system like humans, but they, like most ‘fantasy’ races, weren’t almost naked.
(Though I should mention that immediately after this, the Maybo in question grabs Tarathiel, takes her to the elder of the city to get a spell so she can understand their language, which I very cleverly named Meyh’ktaio and did not include a guide on how to pronounce. Then they ask her about the outside world and she just fuckin shows them her phone and Jules’ app and her selfies with all her friends. They are mystified and I had so much fun writing that scene.)
The Maybo are among some of my favourite to write for: they have absolutely no basis in anything except maybe a slight nod to RuneScape’s Naragi in appearance. I made them and their entire culture and language up on the fly. In Fall, after Tarathiel returns to them after freeing Lusmos and heading to Ilya Katayona, Lusmos’ gifts to them for helping him and his group out are a silver elk that calls to whoever is worthy that can call it, and turning their God of the Waterfall into a person again so they can act as a spiritual leader for their people. The Maybe don’t really work with the Aethelian gods, as they’ve got their waterfall guy, but the waterfall itself is made of Tomian magic and they do generally follow his creeds, so they are regarded as Tomian.
I really like the Maybo. I don’t know where they might crop up next, as they don’t generally leave their area, but I like to think there’s a few out there who might be more personable and in the spotlight than Renmi, Nmenra, and Aushla, our two background character Maybo. (I have no idea what the gender culture is like for the Maybo, but I like to think Renmi’s a trans guy. Aushla’s the elder so she’s just Old Sage Woman, but Renmi’s definitely a trans guy.)
So, all in all, it really depends on the civilization, but with limited resources and the lack of reliable trading routes for anyone, don’t expect too much in the way of advanced technology. Kinefira’s changelings are about the most high-tech you’ll be seeing for a while, if and when we ever take a thirty-thousand-word trip through the Serin again.
(I like to keep the Serin as far from coherent as possible- the less rules I put on it, the more I can stuff in there. It has some young gods in there too, but it doesn’t need to have any real requirements.)
Though I feel I should mention that Ilya Serina is the real base of the whole project- not Ilya Aethela or Haridor or even Tarathiel: the Serin is what ties the whole project together, just as it ties the realms together. No novel I have written concerning the project at all hasn’t had at least a brief trip through it. It’s my pride and joy.
And yes, at one point I really did call it Afiroja. What was wrong with past me.
