hii, yes they are! when you look at them in the mini-cas window they'll appear opaque, but when you view them in game they should be translucent again 😄

Dedre' & Ella Jefferson Early Learning Center, an Alief ISD school, in Houston, Texas was designed by PBK.

It's leading the way with innovative Pre-K to prepare young learners for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Jefferson is organized by Neighborhoods (Discovery, Inquiry, & Voyages) and Houses (including Space City, Gulf Coast, & Going Places) instead of wings and classrooms.

The school was built by Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, with engineering by Salas O'Brien and landscaping by TBG Partners. They partnered with The Nature Conservancy for the prairie restoration areas that surround the building.

It hadn’t been her intention to turn the entire control centre of the prison level into rubble. Her disguise had worked for most of the infiltration, and it had truly been amazing how little anyone paid attention when people just kept their head down and followed the masses.

She’d just been thinking how the collective of pirates that made up this rust bucket of a spaceship needed to pay a little closer attention when one actually had. He’d noted how they didn’t have a Terran on the crew, and the last time a Kree was onboard – they’d been turned into a meal.

Heh, awkward.

“Yeah, no,” she said with a little cringe, “I don’t think I’m going to be on the menu.”

The man sneered, revealing dagger-like teeth. “Meat just needs a bit of tenderising is all—“

Cue brief and bright violence. Which resulted in security cameras being fried and the guard, along with his two goons, neutralised. 

That’s when she found Barnes. She didn’t know why the pirates had bothered to steal him, but she couldn’t imagine the purpose was good. Best case, maybe a new fighter for some sort of intergalactic coliseum, worst case, apparently these pirates liked to eat people.

That was when the central console sputtered to life, a concerned voice coming through.

“Raz,” the gravely tone called, “Raz you there?”

Carol frowned, pressing on the communicator. “Who’s this?”

“This is Commander Del’kron! Where’s Raz?” 

Oh, he sounded mad.

“Raz isn’t available at the moment. He, um… there was an accident.”

“What accident?”

“The uh, panel blew. But we’re fine now. All fine… how are you?”

“I’m sending Dedres and Fy’io. Who is this?”

“Uh,” Carol aimed her hand at the console and blew it to pieces with a photon blast. “Boring conversation anyway.”

And that, understandably, led to Barnes’ comment, while it was probably warranted, but nonetheless earned him side-eye from Carol. 

“Not my best lie, you got me,” she admitted with a slight smirk, before she tossed him an energy rifle. “Try not to shoot yourself.”

Book Review: "The Forgotten Beasts of Eld" by Patricia A. McKillip

Review:

This book was such a surprise! I knew nothing about it so I wasn't expecting the dark moments in it and the beautiful writing style. It became a favorite.

"The Forgotten Beasts of Eld" is about a powerful wizard named Sybel that lives isolated in the mountains with her magical beasts that the world has forgotten about. This includes a wise boar, a black cat, a lyon, a falcon, a swan and a dragon. All of them have tales about their mighty deeds of the past and Sybel, like her father and grandfather before her, was raised to take care of them. The wizard wants nothing to do with the affairs of men until a baby is dropped on her lap and later a king driven by fear and distrust makes her get involved in the conflict between Dedre and the Sirle Lords. The use of her power leads Sybel to a dark path of revenge, making her to ignore the advice of those she cares about.

I really liked the characters, especially the main one, but also the witch Maelga and Coren. The relationships in this book were fantastic and so was the poetic writing , with quotes like "You can weave your life so long—only so long, and then a thing in the world out of your control will tug at one vital thread and leave you patternless and subdued.”

This book had some predictable moments, but also some surprises and those were more than enough to make up for it. This is very much a character driven story revolving around Sybel and her development. There is a romance, but it's a complicated one since Sybel is used to only care for herself and knew nothing of love until being made to raise a child. I love Sybel, but she is not a very likable character and some readers might struggle reading her perspective.

There isn't much I can say about it without spoilers. I definitely want to read more books by this author.

Still recovering from war trauma herself, as a founding member of the Department of Magical Trauma and Recovery, Hermione Granger is tasked with assessing and evaluating-for-potential-release what’s left of the DEDR. She expects the task to be trying, what she doesn’t see coming, is her newfound desire to save what’s left of Draco Malfoy.

It is a WIP and I love it so much.

Is Rosario Dawson transphobic or not? Facts only

I see a lot of people blindly believe that Rosario Dawson is transphobic as if this is a proven fact of life so I thought it’s about time to put the actual facts

-Rosario Dawson is a queer woman who to my knowledge has never expressed  any trasnphobic statements and has been a long time supporter of LGBT causes

- Dedrek Finley the man who made the allegation was a friend of the Dawson family for over twenty years. Rosario Dawson’s mother invited him to L.A to help renovate their house. They offered him an apartment where he could live rent free, full time work and extra cash to help with the moving. At the time the offer was made they knew Dedrek as a lesbian and not as a transman

-Dedrek claims that Dawson’s family didn’t accept him as a transman and would often misgender him and dead name him

-The relationship between both parties broke down and the Dawsons asked him to leave the apartment where he was living rent free. He refused and then he claims that  Rosario and her mom appeared in his apartment, threatened him and his cat and then physically assaulted him. He pressed charges in civil court

- He has since voluntarily withdrawn his allegations against Rosario Dawson without any settlement  but the allegations against her mother remain so either there was no pay off or Rosario doesn’t care about her mom

-Rosario Dawson has not spoken up about the allegations except to make a small statement that they were baseless. She has not tried to use her media power to undermine Dedrek Finley so be warned that the mentioned points come solely from Dedred Finley’s account of the story

So is Rosario Dawson transphobic? At the end of the day we can never know because we were not present at these events. Could Dedrek Finley be someone who decided to exploit his connection with a rich family and use false allegations against Rosario Dawson who was at the time dating a presidential candidate to continue living rent free in L.A and get a nice pay off? It’s certainly possible.Could the Dawson including Rosario herself truly be transphobic ? Again certainly possible. Violence and abuse against trans people is very common. Could both sides be assholes with the Dawson family being transphobic and Dedrek Finley trying to exploit them? Again also possible . Could the Dawson’s family be transphobic while Rosario an innocent who got dragged along in this mess to use as a public leverage ? Certainly possible especially since all allegations against her  have been dropped but the ones against her mother remain. Could Rosario Dawson be a cold hearted ruthless transphobic monster who is using her acting skills to present herself as a good person.? Possible . And could this be a simple conflict with a family friend which turned very nasty with deeply problematic issues on both sides? Again absolutely possible

Bottom line is this. We could never know for sure. And while believing victims is important there is a difference between blind and informed belief. Especially when it comes to allegations against a queer woman of color. A lot of you would be biased against Rosario Dawson and in your eyes she is already guilty and there is absolutely nothing she could do to prove her innocence despite the fact that the charges against her were dismissed. A lot of you would be biased in favor of Rosario Dawson and believe 100% that this man is simply trying to milk her for money . There is nothing that can be done to change your minds But I feel like a lot of people approach this topic cautiously and have yet to make up their minds. After all we know that tumblr tends to be a rabid place of blind hatred especially against women. But we also know that celeb often tend to disappoint us and reveal themselves to be horrible people. So for all of you who don’t want to rush to judgment here are the known facts
