her relationship with antaeres makes me a little insane. being her apprentice...she looks up to her so much and she also super started clinging to her hard after her father died . she needed some kind of anchor. she needed something reliable in the face of everything happening. she sees goodness in antaeres that simply is not there. over time she’s been SEEING some of the brutality that her jedi master is capable of. but she kind of...can’t quite reconcile it. she tries to justify it as best she can , reminds herself that this is war and sometimes these things need to happen- but the truth is that i think, at this point, the prospect of seeing the reality of what antaeres is, having that trust shattered, is TERRIFYING to her. she has to believe that she’s a good person. because if not, what else does she have?
i love nadia so much oh my god. she is such a sweetheart but unfortunately for her it is way too narratively delicious to put her in the situation of having antaeres as a mentor. but my god every time she says something im like ouhhhhhhhhhh......................
#:-)#it's soooo fucked up#antaeres sees her power as a potentially useful thing but also a potential threat if left unchecked#but she's willing to...toy with it#let it flourish as long as it is kept on her leash. so to speak#so SHE was quite pleased when the jedi council assigned her to train nadia#unfortunately. it is largely for ulterior motives.#jedi consular#swtor#.txt#oc: antaeres skor#nadia grell#dark side jedi consular#hive.txt

Archive Conversations - SWTOR
Summary: “Lord Vivicar had been dead for little over a week, but his shadow had by no means retreated.” The newly-titled Barsen’thor struggles with the sacrifices she’s had to make, but Syo Bakarn has a promise to keep.
Characters: Master Syo Bakarn, Rysan Ni (Consular OC, Mirialan and mostly light-side-leaning). Mentioned: Lord Vivicar/Parkanas Tark, Yuon Parr, Qyzen Fess.
Word count: 1673
***
The clock that hovered somewhere high in the walls of the Archives chimed delicately, and Master Syo Bakarn jerked up from the text in front of him. He stared at the time in wonder for a moment, having been so absorbed in his reading that the hours had flown away and it was far later than he had wished. Through the windows he could see marvellous constellations painting intricate pictures across Tython’s sky and Syo stood, stretching his legs and working the aches from his cramped wrists – stars, when had he gotten old?
The Jedi wandered over to the closest window and stood for a while, marvelling anew at the spectacle of the stars above and the scenery below. There was no doubt that Tython had to be one of the most beautiful planets in the galaxy, and that was just to the naked eye! Through the Force a person could see, as Syo did, far more than just the rolling hills, waterfalls, and smoke of far-away camps; he could feel the life of every individual who called it home, he could sense their joy, the satisfaction of a hard day’s work, the relief at survival, and hopes for the future…
And he could sense distress.
Syo frowned. He stared out of the window for a moment longer and then glanced around, searching for the source of this tremor in the Force and deciding it was definitely coming from within the Archives rather than somewhere out in Tython’s forests. But where? He walked back to the table he had been hunched over and closed the text, bookmarking his place for next time, and paced slowly through the rows of illuminated holo-texts. He seemed quite alone, unsurprising for so late at night when padawans had all been packed off to bed and most sensible Knights and Masters had followed them there. But still that current of distress called out in the Force and Syo looked up another corridor of shelves – and his heart sank.
The Mirialan was clearly asleep, slumped over the desk with her head in her arms and her short black hair falling haphazardly from its previously high ponytail. The blinking light from a holo-transmitter beside her flung light onto her dark green face and intricate tattoos but all Syo could notice was how tired the young Jedi looked, the dark shadows under her eyes only worsened by the dim glow of the desk’s failing lamp. Quietly as he could, the Jedi Master approached the desk and gently laid a hand on the Mirialan’s shoulder.
“Wha-” She jolted awake, her head snapping up and her violet eyes sweeping everywhere before focussing on Syo. “Master Syo! Sorry, I was just…”
But the young Consular’s sleepy grin faltered and then fell as she woke up properly, and the shadow across her face only grew. Syo’s brow knitted together in worry; her mental shields were still weak from sleep and he could easily sense the memories flooding back into her mind, the stress and despair, the loss. Lord Vivicar had been dead for little over a week, but his shadow had by no means retreated.
“Hello Rysan.” He greeted the Mirialan, keeping his hand gently on her shoulder. “Are you alright?”
“I think so.” It wasn’t really an answer, and they both knew it. Instead of pushing it Syo shifted, moving to the seat beside Rysan’s and sitting down beside her.
“Are you sleeping alright?” He asked at last.
“I never did” Rysan replied wryly, and Syo just nodded. This wasn’t exactly news to him; Yuon Parr had often mentioned Rysan’s unique mind in training, her issues with focusing yet bursts of hyper-concentration, an incredible brain that could trace complex mysteries to their source yet would deny her sleep when she needed it most. Something was resting against his foot and he leant down, picking up the diamond-shaped object that must have rolled off the desk. Its metal surface was cool to the touch, and he could feel the calming energy rolling off it as he held it out to the younger Jedi with a soft smile. Her mouth twitching in what Syo hoped was the beginning of a grin, Rysan took it. “Thanks, Master.”
“Does it still help?” Syo asked curiously. Rysan held her green palm out flat and the object rose a few inches before beginning to spin rapidly.
“Yeah, it helps keep me grounded.” Even as she spoke, the focus-imbued shape was steadily slowing its rotations and the tension was bleeding out of Rysan’s shoulders. “Theran’s been building me other things too,” she added, “Things to keep my hands busy, so I can concentrate.”
“He’s a very skilled man. Though please, never let him take you to a casino.”
Rysan’s violet eyes glanced mischievously back up at the master,
“Are you telling me that from experience, Master Syo?”
“Perhaps. A mistake I have never repeated! ” Syo admitted with a chuckle and decided it was safe to ask, “What are you reading?”
He had misjudged, and Rysan’s growing smile vanished and her focus object fell into her hand heavily. She didn’t say anything for a while, just curled back into herself and raked a hand through loose black hair. He worried that she might not reply at all, but then Rysan just turned back to the datapad propped up in front of her and slid it over; taking the hint, Syo leant forward in his seat, only to see a list of names. He frowned in confusion for a moment before realising that these names were familiar, Jedi names, names that had been recently read out at a memorial ceremony in the peaceful courtyard that the Archives overlooked. These were the names of the Jedi who had died with Vivicar, and Rysan was on page four out of twelve. Now Syo was quiet for a while too, using the pad of his finger to slowly scroll down the list.
“It’s a good thing to honour the dead, Rysan.” He said at last, his voice calm and gentle. “But we shouldn’t hold onto them beyond their time.”
The Mirialan Jedi shifted, now hugging her knees to her chest. The motion threw dark shadows across her exhausted face, and Syo’s heart ached – she’s far too young to look so pained.
“Master Tyken. Master Fain. Master Vossan, Master Sidone.” Rysan recited those names as if they were seared into her brain. “I saved them for nothing.”
Her hollow voice would have betrayed her emotions even if her powerful Force signature hadn’t.
Rysan. Look after her. Promise me, Syo, please.
Syo had made that promise to Yuon Parr, and now he took a breath, switching off the datapad before turning to look at the knight head-on.
“That’s not true. Cin Tyken’s padawan is safe and will be well supported in her future studies. Nar Shaddaa has one less gang roaming its streets. Master Vossan’s research, which you yourself saved, will be preserved and used just as he wanted. And do not underestimate the peace which you brokered on Alderaan, Rysan. Master Sidone rested knowing you brought healing where she could not.”
Rysan had slowly lowered her knees from her chest and was spinning the diamond-shaped object again. Syo paused before adding “And I’m sure you know that Yuon Parr would be incredibly proud of you.”
“You think so?” It was barely audible in her voice, but Syo could relax as he sensed the sliver of relief, of hope sink through the young Jedi.
“No. I know how proud she was of you.”
Tell Rysan I’m proud of her, Syo.
There was no mistaking the small smile that flickered on Rysan’s face. Syo smiled too, and leant forward to lay a hand on her shoulder again. “You have done well, padaw-” he broke off, catching his near-mistake with a wry smile, “Barsen’thor. You ensured the end of a plague that could have wiped us out and undoubtedly earned that title. There’s no need to be so hard on yourself.”
“Thank you, Master Syo.” Anyone who knew Rysan Ni would tell you her smile was infectious and now certainly proved it; despite his own tiredness and concern for the young Jedi Syo found himself returning her smile in kind.
“It’s alright.” He replied, “I will always be here if you need me, Rysan.”
Rysan’s grateful smile lit up her face, and she suddenly moved forward to fling her arms around the elder master in a tight hug. Syo blinked, startled for a moment; the Jedi didn’t exactly encourage such overt expressions. But he had made a promise and he cared enough to keep it, and he returned the embrace gently.
“Thank you.” Rysan whispered into his shoulder. The urgent flashing of her commlink drew her attention and she drew back to pull it over.
“Qyzen’s looking for me.” She murmured, her violet eyes scanning the message “I should-”
“Get some sleep.” Syo interposed, trying and failing to sound stern. It didn’t work, Rysan actually laughed – a welcome sound – as she got to her feet and stretched. Her left wrist and hand cracked as she did so, not from the popping of natural joints but from the whirr of mechanical gears in her cybernetic.
“I’ll just see what he wants, then go to bed. Promise.” She almost turned to go before Syo cleared his throat and held out the focus object she was about to forget on the table. Rysan took it with a sheepish grin. “Thanks. Goodnight, Master Syo.”
“Goodnight, Rysan. Sleep well.” The Master watched the young knight vanish into the depths of the Temple, no doubt to find her Trandoshian friend who was also grieving for her former master.
Syo knew he should worry about Rysan. Her capacity for care, for emotion, for attachment even, was such that only her shocking sacrifice of Vivicar and the masters had kept the Council’s mouth closed on the subject. It really should worry him.
But Syo had no idea that same care would one day save his life.

Day two of @jdiknight's SWTOR-tober prompt list! The day two prompt is Lightside: I had one very obvious pick for this one. While both Akk'rai (My Consular) and Zilei (My Knight) are 100% light side in-game, in my out-of-game lore Zilei has a much more intimate and uninterrupted relationship with the light side of the force. As per the last post I've added an extension to the challenge where I also write more about how the prompt and subsequent drawing relate to my characters! Full Jedi Knight storyline spoilers (and some general Swtor spoilers, I think) and the story/lore explanation half of this post under the cut.
I thought it a little ridiculous for such an inexperienced Jedi to defeat the Emperor in the Knight storyline- but I generally stick close to game canon when it comes to the lore I write for my characters, so it was staying. Since I wasn't going to alter the event itself I veered towards giving a supplemental explanation as to how this was possible. Having a character be born exceptionally strong in the Force was the first obvious halfway solution that popped into my head, but I didn't find that particularly compelling. I didn't want him to necessarily wield that kind of power. Ultimately, though, I did settle on something related: Deepening his connection to the light side of the force to the point of becoming a conduit for its 'will'; said aspect bleeding into who he is in certain crucial moments where the balance between darkness and light threatens to tip- times when his mind is sufficiently in tune with the light side to the point where, in a way, he becomes a vessel for it. 'The will of the Force' as a whole, as I understand it, is a pretty dubious concept within the Star Wars canon (EU included) but with the existence of beings like The Ones/The Mortis gods, full alignment with the light side and the dark side seems possible. The source and essence of this connection was largely inspired by my love of stories & narratives where the world/nature itself fights back against its destruction, á la Princess Mononoke's forest spirit and other similar stories. This is officially commences when Vitiate/Tenebrae 'consumes' his first planet. The wave of dark side energy, the disturbance, sets in motion a pendulum swing within the Force that will eventually pivot back. And this returning energy, by mere happenstance or by fate, finds a home in Zilei, a young knight heartily dancing through a crescendo of Galactic events. (His general, nigh unshakeable positive attitude is, frankly, nothing short of a miracle considering the Galaxy in shambles. Maybe it was destiny after all.)
He changes slightly, when fully aligned with the light side. Zilei is actually very playful, merry and even slightly mischievous- taking great delight in harmless pranks, general high jinks or outright goofy, unconventional ways to handle situations. At the zenith of alignment (or the closest to a meditative internal peace,) he's notably more serene, almost otherworldly, as he dons a perpetual soft smile on his face and his eyes fade into light. This, of course, exists on a spectrum- not to mention the fact that he's generally quite tranquil, as a stereotypical practicing Jedi might be. Notably he begins showing signs of this peak for the first time the closer they get to confronting the Emperor on Dromund Kaas- something noticed by the observant long-term members of his crew- especially after he abruptly reverts to 'normal' past the Emperor's (current) defeat. I like to think that during the ending ceremony, both Satele and Scourge could sense the light flowing out of him, temporarily retreating back into the Force as its current task was completed.
I believe my turquoise gel pen ended up running out of ink soon after I started lining (will have to test this tomorrow) so I switched to a blue ballpoint pen instead. Pretty sure I like it more with the darker lines than I would have with the gel pen anyway so, hooray!

— Chapter Three: Favorite Clones
Bedtime Story Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
“I asked Echo to swap shifts so I could tell you this part of the story - it… means a lot to me.” Hunter started, ready to reminisce about his beloved Commander.
“Where’d ya end up getting your tat anyway?” Wrecker asked while once again scavenging your kitchen for food. His brothers also looked at you for an answer, scanning your figure for any sign of the ink.
“Tats,” You corrected before sighing, pulling down the collar of the shirt you’d been wearing, revealing the insignia over your heart. You could sense the room fill to the brim with emotions, even from Crosshair. A groan of joy escaped Wrecker’s mouth as he brought you into a tight hug - one containing so much love.
“I think it’s perfect,” slipped from Hunter’s lips, who decided to join in on the hug - subsequently the other two brothers followed. “Good choice, Commander.”
You smiled and removed your hand from Wrecker’s back, placing a hand over the new 99. You hadn’t expected to form such a strong attachment to the group, but looking back on everything, it was inevitable. “Okay, okay - guys let’s not get sappy now!”
Wrecker wiped his tear-stained cheeks, “It- It’s just that…”
“We know, Wrecker. They’re one of us,” Hunter cut in in an attempt to console his brother, “They will always be part of our squad.”
With a new-found freedom from Wrecker’s arms, you remembered, “Hey, Wrecker? Remember how you wanted to try my lightsaber and we forgot?”
As if on cue his eyes brightened and he held out his hands, squeezing his fingers to his palm in a ‘gimme’ motion. The sight made you laugh while you used the Force to bring your lightsaber to your hand.
You went over the basics with the larger clone, his brothers watching in awe as you ignited the lightsaber on a lower setting so no real damage would be dealt to your living room. The green light shone on Wrecker’s face as you handed it to him, which ended with him waving it around in an attempt to imitate the few Jedi he’s seen.
“So,” Hunter started while watching his brother swing the lightsaber at non-existent enemies, “Tech told us that you helped him feel the Force.”
“Aw, are you jealous?” Crosshair teased with a smirk on his face.
Hunter immediately shook his head (which looked suspicious, but you let it slide), “No, just wondering how you did that. Could you do it with us, too?”
“I honestly had no idea that it was possible until I tried with Tech - I’ve always been more in tune with the Force than many of my peers, save for Anakin Skywalker, and been able to wield it in ways many cannot.” You started, hoping to give Hunter a satisfactory answer, “I could most likely do the same for the rest of you, if you’d like to feel it.”
“A consular, then?” Tech questioned your reply, “I’ve been studying articles on the Jedi since your arrival with us - if I’m not mistaken, Jedi Consulars tend to not use their lightsabers unless it’s a last resort, which I have observed in your combative style. They also use a green blade most frequently, rather than the blue and yellow of guardians and sentinels, respectively.”
You nodded, “You’re correct, though I wouldn’t expect otherwise from you. My green blade reflects my status, but the crystal chooses the Jedi - not the other way around. Honestly if I had my choice of color it’d be purple.”
“Like Master Windu’s, then? I have never understood why he wields such a color.”
You laughed, “Honestly, I’m not sure either. I think it’s because of the form he developed and uses - it’s close to using the dark side of the Force.”
”Ah, I see. You believe it to be a combination of the Sith’s red and Jedi’s blue?”
You nodded, turning your attention back to the faux-Jedi Wrecker, who’s having the time of his life with your saber. You had to stifle a laugh at him running around the room, attempting to twirl his lightsaber behind his back.
“Okay, Wrecker - that’s enough. Give the Commander back their lightsaber - we have work to do.”
Wrecker huffed, not wanting his fun to end. Eventually, he flipped the ignition switch and returned your hilt, which you hooked back onto your belt.
Hunter spoke your name from beside you, causing you to meet his gaze. “Are we your favorite clones?”
“I’ve been living with you for half a year and you’re asking me that?” A rhetorical question, “Yes, you are my favorite clones. Though, there was one clone I was very close to from General Skywalker’s legion, the 501st.”
“Just haven’t seen him in awhile?” Hunter pushed, wanting to know more about this clone.
You averted your eyes and looked everywhere but at him, “Yes, I haven’t seen him in awhile. He… died. A couple years ago. It was a mission to retrieve information from a Jedi Master, who was locked in the Citadel on Lola Sayu.” You rubbed the fabric of your robes between your pointer finger and thumb, “He was so brave and kind, always eager to learn - his batchmates named him Echo.”
Hunter placed a caring hand on your shoulder, “I’m sorry for your loss, Commander. He sounds like a great guy.”
You could only nod, accepting Hunter’s comforting touch. You lifted up the hem of your robes and traced your fingers over the new ink that laid on your ribcage - 1409. The gaze on your tattoo was heavy, yet no words were spoken by anyone in the room.
Your short-lived vacation on Coruscant had finally come to an end, and it was time for your squad to set back out into the galaxy - part of you was grateful to be leaving the bustling ecumenopolis, but you would definitely miss the downtime. You had a feeling that the next time you returned to Coruscant would be your last time with the Bad Batch, and you weren’t ready for that day to come.
“Wait a minute,” A sleepy Omega asked her brother, not knowing whether the tiredness made her hear things, “Echo died?”
“He’s here with us, so no,” Hunter neglected to explain what really happened, “That is why he hasn’t told any of the story yet, though. He was… away during this time period.”
By the time Hunter finished his sentence, Omega was fast asleep with soft snores leaving her slightly-open mouth.

it's also really funny how the Knight gets dark side points for romancing their companions, but the Consular doesn't. The Jedi Council said the Consular can do whoever they want forever

Been replaying KOTOR so sorry for my brainrot. Here’s what I think the BG3 gang would be like if they were in a KOTOR game.
Astarion: At first glance he’d just be a guy who cheats you in Pazaak and you have the choice to kill or take pity on him. It would eventually be revealed that he was a Sith apprentice in the past and he’s now on the run from his former master. (Would be very similar to HK-47 in his approvals)
Gale: A Jedi Consular with a Force wound. Similar to Nihilus’s condition he’d have to keep consuming things with more and more Force energy. He also has a bit of a problem with ambition and you’ll have to dissuade him from going to the dark side.
Halsin: He would be a Wookie Jedi to be honest.
Karlach: A Republic soldier who was horribly injured and has to wear some kind of ventilator suit while her body slowly breaks down. Someone high up in the Republic has been trying to frame her as a war criminal but it’s not true.
Shadowheart: A Dathomir Nightsister who could be trained as a Jedi if nudged the right way.
Lae’zel: A young Trandoshan Mandalorian. (Mandalorians didn’t always used to be just humans, in the old EU they could be any race) She would hate Shadowheart’s “witch abomination” magic.
Minthara: I feel like she’d be a high ranking Chiss warrior who had made an alliance with l whoever the antagonist in this particular story is. She was then betrayed and, as a result, lost many Chiss soldiers and was shunned from her house. (Also Minthy would get along so well with Kreia lol)
Wyll: A well respected bounty hunter. His target was the “war criminal” Karlach but after learning what happened to her he gives up on the bounty. This puts a target on his back however and now he’s on the run from the people who hired him. (Who he’s also in debt to)
Jaheira and Minsc would both be Jedi. I’d imagine they’d be “quest giver” characters who help you out and can join you on a few missions. Boo would be force sensitive too and would have a teeny lightsaber 🥹
@quantum-dragon thoughts?

Welcome to my exclusively SWTOR Tumblr; which is titled "Maybe You Should let the Wookiee Win"
This is where I'll be showcasing my SWTOR toons and adventures. I'm seeming to play a lot more SWTOR now that my wife is back in the game. Her hard-drive space on her laptop was down to near minimal, so somehow, she being more computer literate than me managed to get her game onto an external hard-drive which gave her space on the laptop's hard-drive to install the latest update and get her running again. She needs a much bigger hard-drive on her computer.
Of course, I'm running down to about 345 gigs of space too now. I really should have gotten a 4TB hard-drive. Will have to consider that later. My main toons are on the Star Forge server but I'm not restricted to that. I've also started making toons for the Satele Shan server (the other North American server) and that's where I've been playing on quite a bit.
My first toon I created on Satele Shan was Kyra. She originated from Star Forge, but I had to delete her and start over. (I didn't want to spend the cartel coins to transfer her)
My second toon was Sarlena Worriz.
Of course I also had to have a Jedi Knight - she's going a bit dark.
Couldn't exclude the Imperial Side either.
This is my wife's Jedi Consular (I'm male but enjoy playing female toons; she on the other hand creates mostly female toons).
I have had fun playing the evil Sith Sorcerer with Kyra. She's always been one of my favorites since I haven't unlocked many of the abilities that I have unlocked on Star Forge server. Eventually, I'll probably migrate to every server listed. Then I'm going to have so much fun trying to keep track of all my toons. Guess I'm going to have to keep a spreadsheet of all my characters and what their crew skills are.
On my Star Forge toons, my crew has 745M credits. My Satele Shan toons are poor as ****. So...back to the beginning, I guess...

Star wars fix it, but it's about Ezra, Leia and Luke.
(Differences from Canon: Mace and the other Jedi killed Palpatine, Order 66 never happened, Anakin died on Mustafar, and Padme died from her injuries)
I just like to imagine them growing up as triplets.
Like 3-year-old Leia did the equation of Ezra having the same birthday as them, blue eyes like her brother, and dark hair like her.
So they had to be siblings, right?
(This is to the amusement of everyone, especially Obi-Wan and Mace, though the latter will joke about bad influences and all that.)
They grow up loved and protected by their gigantic Jedi family, and their thousands of similar-looking uncles.
When it's finally time for them to enter their padawanship, Leia grabs Obi-Wan, Luke gets tackled by Asoka (who came back to the order after the war ended) and Ezra takes his rightful place as newly knighted Caleb dumes headaches.
(If it weren't him, it would have been Mace or Depa. He was Calebs Foundling and the rest of the shatterpoint line has called dips)
They learn to become stronger and establish themselves as the person that they were always supposed to be.
Leia becomes one of the youngest Jedi masters and is training to become part of the council. She is well known for her no-nonsense nature and her aggressive negotiations.
Luke becomes a Jedi Consular and works on becoming a cherche master. He is known for his seemingly unbreakable patience and the ability to calm any child from a temper tantrum. He was also listed to care for Grogu after his former caretaker died.
Ezra becomes a Jedi Sentinel and specializes in the dark side of the force. Boy has a talent for finding sith shit. He works on finding out more about it so that it would lose that 'magical allure of the unknown/the promise of power'. He is known for his nerves of steel and unableness to fall. He also took in Ben Solo as his padawan

jaric kaedan: designated jerk
Jaric Kaedan is the designated jerk of the cold war era Jedi Council. When there is a mean or aggressive thing the writers want a member of the Council to say, Master Kaedan is nearly always the one to say it. However, I would argue that a lot of the mean things Kaedan says are mean things which needed to be said by someone.
For example, his questioning of Kira Carsen’s loyalty after it is revealed she is a Child of the Emperor is pertinent given the context. That someone who was accepted into the Order as an adult after attempting to steal the hyperdrive of a ship which just happened to belong to a member of the Jedi Council, whose position as that Council Member’s Padawan granted her close access to the Council, has been concealing her origins as a Sith acolyte is suspicious. During Act One the Jedi uncover a Sith sleeper agent, Tarnis, embedded deeply in Republic military research. In Consular Act Three, the potential infiltration of the Jedi Order by the Children of the Emperor is proven to be something Kaedan was absolutely correct to be concerned about. The Council would be remiss in its duty of protection towards the other members of the Order if they didn’t investigate the possibility of Kira being a plant. Arguably, they’d also be failing Kira by not consolidating the evidence proving her innocence because Kira might need that evidence if her status as a Child of the Emperor leaks again in the future.
Kaedan’s cynicism about the prospects of Tol Braga’s plan bring peace with the Empire is entirely reasonable. The risks of undertaking the mission go beyond the risk to the members of the strike team. If the Jedi abduct or assassinate the Sith Emperor it will trigger a second great galactic war – a war the republic military has been preparing for but may not be ready to begin. Even if Tol Braga succeeds in turning the Emperor to the Light, the wider Empire would be unlikely accept the commands of a Jedi Emperor, either dismissing the “redemption” as lies or mind control, or denouncing the ruler they are already becoming disillusioned with as a traitor.
His concerns about Jomar Chul’s vision are also valid. Even if the Hero of Tython is unwaveringly loyal to the Order and would never willingly draw on the Dark-Side of the Force, the Jedi Council should be aware that Jedi can be forced into falling under torture. The vision is an ill omen at the outset of an already poorly considered mission.
This gives me the impression that Jaric Kaedan’s role as the designated jerk is something which exists in-universe – that he has fallen into a dynamic with the rest of the Jedi Council where he feels he must voice the cynical and callous opinions because most of the time nobody else is willing to. If the points aren’t raised the quality of the Council’s discussions will suffer, the quality of the Council’s decisions will suffer. None of them particularly want to tell Bela Kiwiiks she might have welcomed a mole into the Order or tell Tol Braga his pet emperor redemption project is stupid. So long as Jaric Kaedan is always willing to be the bad cop then then the other members of the Council are free to play the good cop, or the mediator, or the supplier of wise proverbs.
Which is, moving further into headcanon, part of the reason why Kaedan is such a grumpy jerk. He knows he’s slipped into this trap and resents it. He shouldn’t have to always be the one bringing these things up. He shouldn’t have to worry that nobody else will if he’s not there. And the habit of imagining and voicing cynical takes, once established, is difficult to break.

OC MASTERPOST (REGULARLY UPDATED)
—
My SWTOR characters!
These are the four I’m the most invested in, and I do have other toons but their stories haven’t quite come to me yet. :)
I’ve also attached their respective toyhouse’s with the complete lore to their names, some are more complete than others haha.
Jed Solaris
You all know him, the man, the myth, the legend. He’s my main oc, not just for swtor and star wars, but as a whole. He is the crown jewel and flagship character of the sodapopsalesguy cinematic universe. He’s also my favorite punching bag (as any good oc should be).
In my gameplay, Jed is the canon cipher nine, as well as the Outlander/Alliance Commander. He started off pushing neutral DS alignment but eventually has gradually been pushing towards light III. His LI is Theron Shan and he’s best friends with Lana, as she’s one of the only people who can actually keep him in line.
He’s not proud of what he did as a Cipher Agent, which is why he’s trying to do better as Alliance Commander. He’s a man of the people, a boy who was shaped by war, and yet he’s just trying to do better. He’s the chosen one, but only by happenstance. Practically force blind, and often resentful of force users as a whole.
He constantly swings back and forth from being a serious character, whom I treasure - and the galaxy’s most cringefail guy. I love him.
Fallon Navaro
Fallon Navaro is my terrible no good very bad Jedi Consular. She’s also my other main character, but for Pubside. She is not the canon Consilar though, that’s just the gameplay path I chose for her. She also has premonitions of the future, including of my other SWTOR characters and their lives.
She’s a descendent of the Jedi Exile, and people just won’t stop reminding her of that. Fallon’s spent so much of her life in the footsteps of what she should be, that eventually she gives up and jsut starts doing her own thing. Usually something highly manipulative or immoral. She’s not the most evil Dark V™️ character around, she’s just sort of trying to break the expectations people have been shoveling ontop of her for her entire life.
She is romancing Lana Beniko, and they’re so cute together. All of my characters are queer because straight people scare me.
Verity Danthe
Miss Verity is the anti Fallon. She’s my canon sith warrior and she is the love of my life. Verity is kind, she’s cautious, she’s empathetic, and she’s pushing light V. Because of her beauty and grace she is coined “The Emperors Delight” just as often as she is the Emperors Wrath.
Born and raised in sith nobility, Verity should in theory be a perfect sith. But she isn’t. Her heart is on her sleeve and she uses her passion and love as the main fuel for her dark sided power and antics. She’s not a total pushover though, if something happens to her loved ones — she can easily snap and show you who’s boss.
Despite being a bit of a socialite and party animal she is very perceptive and aware of how to use this to her advantage. She can use the force to read other peoples emotions and feelings, so rather than direct thoughts its all abstract concepts.
She’s married to Quinn, and they’re both bisexual disasters.

Now that I’ve finished the Consular story, some Vanirr ramblings as I try to get a proper handle on his character….
He and Caspian were on Tython together as Padawans, though Vanirr was a couple of years older. Where Cas was stubborn and struggled with some aspects of being a Jedi, Vanirr was a natural, taking easily to the Order’s philosophies of tranquility and detachment. And it wasn’t just that it worked for him - even as a Padawan he had a deep-thinking mind, and he understood what was being taught on levels that usually took many more years of study.
Consequently, he and Cas did not get along well - not exactly rivals or adversaries, but Vanirr tends to be very preachy and ready with Jedi aphorisms, which didn’t mesh well at all with Cas’ logical mind and inability to remain calm or passive. You know that episode of DS9 with Sisko and his Vulcan rival at the academy? Take out the deliberate heckling/antagonism, and that’s Cas and Vanirr.
On the surface, Vanirr is a paragon of the Order - tempered and calm, skilfully using words to negotiate and mediate, steeped in wisdom from endless hours in the Jedi archives, always seeking to help and to learn. He is a veritable beacon of the light side. While trained as a ‘Shadow’, when he moves unseen and undetected, it’s actually because he’s melded with the light - he can either radiate or become a part of the whole, depending on the situation.
Unfortunately, this is where the expression ‘blinded by the light’ becomes painfully apt. Vanirr develops a sort of unknowing arrogance, fuelled by both the Jedi’s affirmations of his virtues and his own successes through the class story, shielding and sanctifying those corrupted by the dark side. He comes to believe that this is his calling - to purge the darkness from whatever place or person he can. And if he has to kill someone to do it - well, all things have their time, don’t they? He’s just causing that time to arrive a little sooner.
His weakness is for knowledge, for relics and holocrons. In his blind devotion to the light, he believes that even the darkest of Sith secrets can find no hold on him, if he stands true to the Jedi ways. Ultimately, this is what does him in, and causes him to fall prey to Darth Syphon, Head of Ancient Knowledge on the Dark Council. Syphon lures him with the promise of such secrets, captures him, corrupts him, and the fabled Barsen’thor falls. Cas encounters him at some point thereafter, and there’s such irony there - that this Master of the light side should be so deeply tainted, should succumb to the dark, when the Knight who faced the Emperor himself, who still feels that shadow inside him, did not fall. I’m not sure yet what the outcome of that encounter is - if Cas kills Vanirr, or tries to save him and brings him back to the Jedi to see if they can help.
Buuuut that’s a ways off in my brain. Meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out Vanirr’s personal life. He’s told me that he ends up with two partners, in one sense or another - Nadia and Felix. It’s hard to define his relationship with Nadia - he’s her mentor of course, but there’s also a deeper bond that veers almost into romance, yet not quite. It’s not a sexual relationship at all, and barely even physical, aside from some fond kisses here and there. Felix, on the other hand, is a much more casual relationship, less attachment, more ‘comradery with a side of occasionally sleeping together’. I’ve actually never had a poly OC before, so this is interesting to mull over.
Anyway. That's what I've got for this lad right now!

Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair being hovering, over-protective big (little) brothers
Asaj!!! Ventress!!!!!
Asaj Ventress's comment about whether or not Omega has a high M-count or not, and how she would need to be trained if she has one, seemed to me as if Asaj was trying to give The Batch a clue. She's hinting that they will have to deal with this sooner or later. Omega will have to deal with it. After Asaj lied to Omega--maybe because in Asaj's personal opinion Omega isn't ready to know, she's not ready yet. While she also warns the rest of the Batch, in a subtle way.
Along with her not subtle warning about how dangerous the Empire is.
So, Asaj wields a yellow lightsaber. Sentinels. But also apparently, grey Jedi? On screen, mostly we've seen blue lightsabers (guardians, who lean more into being warriors), or green (consular; preferring mediation over combat). She doesn't seem to have flipped to the light side from the dark side, but she's rejected the dark side, so maybe grey Jedi fits her now. She says she's on her own side and yet...yeah I'm not believing that 100% because otherwise why bother warning anybody about the Empire, why try to help Omega at all.
The thought of Asaj Ventress training Omega in the ways of the force is a scary yet intriguing thought and might not be terrible, since Asaj isn't dark side any more.
