As much as we all enjoy reading fanfiction of the Worst AU in which Eliot has worked for Moreau the entire time, I do love how the reveal of Eliot's history with Moreau isn't made a giant thing for the team in the actual show. How they talk it out once and don't make hours of drama out of it. How the integrity of the team isn't really seriously threatened. They still all trust Eliot. He still trusts all of them. And their teamwork is still on top of their game. I really like that about Leverage, no supposed 'low point for several episodes' drama until they finally get back together. They are a family at this point and it will take much much more to break them apart.
... still love all the hurt/comfort fics about what must have been discussed off screen though.

Dark Chandler Manning x Reader x Eliot Deacon
Is this a self indulgent blurb? Yes. Am I ashamed? Not in the slightest. I blame @writingkitten for my obsession with dark Molina characters especially dark! Chandler Manning. Go check out her superb work!
Warnings: betrayal, Avengers spoilers, and mention of past kidnappings.
“I don’t have to look at her file,” Sharon Carter said coldly as she shouldered past the two men and stared at the many monitors on the desk. Her eyes raked across the screens searching for any hint of your form in the forest, “(Name) was one of the best agents that SHIELD ever had as I was constantly reminded.”
A heavy scowl appeared on Detective Chandler Manning’s face, “The bitterness in your tone is hard to miss.”
Sharon snorted derisively, still not taking her eyes off the screens, “After Thanos, governments across the world were lining up to offer the remaining Avengers anything they could possibly want. I guess it was too much effort to ask for my name to be cleared so I could return home. Steve certainly wasn’t going to do that for me.”
“Your reason for betraying her was personal when she had nothing to do with your circumstances?” The other man, Eliot Deacon, the mortician questioned.
“She could have had my name cleared but she chose not to,” Sharon shrugged. Her eyes caught the tiniest flicker of movement on the screens. Before she could open her mouth to point the movement out, Eliot spoke again.
“You’re wrong.” The mortician stated, “She did fight to have your name cleared when you were in hiding.”
That got Sharon’s attention, “She did?”
“We interfered with the process.”
Sharon’s eyes widened and with dread bubbling in her stomach she slowly turned to face the two men, “Why?”
“Because she went into hiding after she tried to clear your name and it was proving difficult to locate her.”
Sharon took a step backward and the backs of her thighs hit the desk. Her breaths became ragged as she realised she was trapped.
“You used me to draw her out.” Sharon accused with a trembling voice.
“(Name) escaped both of us in the past and we find ourselves enjoying the chase.”

(i originally wrote all of the following in the tags but then I ran out of room (which I didn't know you could do) so now I'm painstakingly writing all of these tags into actual grammar)
Ooooh yeah this is so cool!!
I can't tell whether this is canonverse MDZS with the Leverage crew in a historical AU, or modern AU MDZS in the normal Leverage universe, or alternatively maybe some funky time shenanigans or something, but I love this so much.
And also because hitterhackerthief is my OT3 I can't help but think about the nonverbal and subtle queer recognition and minor relaxation that both LWJ & WWX would have when they realize that three of these criminals are in a polycule woah
Prev> #I keep seeing Eliot and Wei Wuxian vibing together in my head bonding over the darkness they both believe is in themselves
^ yesss!!
Like everyone in the cultivation world lived through the war sure, but i also think it's fair to say that WWX kinda suffered some of the most from it and I feel like Eliot would just immediately latch onto that "veteran who's having a real bad time of it rn" vibe. ("It's a very distinctive vibe!")
Also, LWJ & Parker autism to autism communication? Wonderful.
Also woah if it is canonverse for MDZS & an AU for Leverage then Hardison could be like a talisman expert or something! Or maybe talismans are just one of his fields, and he's become skilled in magic languages originating from cultures all across the world!
(Because if you're acknowledging other cultures existing in MDZS canon-time-period, then it feels odd at least to me to have china be the only country who actually has real-ass magic. Feels like if magic exists then multiple cultures have probably discovered it and experimented with it.)
Anyways I wrote so much more than the actual excerpt you wrote there lmao- I guess my brain just started going lol.
💛🤍🩷🩵 love the concept <3
not @aspenispoplar making me think of a leverage and mdzs crossover fic I've vaguely started it and I'm kind of vibing tbh
------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a man clad in all white knelt before them.
“Please, he’s innocent, and they will not listen to reason,” his fists clenched in his white robes.
“They are calling for his blood, the blood of the innocents he shelters. He… They will kill him. They won’t listen to me; I don’t have the words. But you, your group, can prove it,” he looked up at the group with pleading eyes.
Nathan Ford looked over his team, meeting each of their eyes before looking back at the kneeling man.
“Okay, you’ve come a long way to get here, so start from the beginning”

DHD: Leverage daemon au
(confession: I read the first 80% of golden compass in 2006 while waiting for christmas and thus new books and never finished it, so my rules for worldbuilding now!) Some things, everyone knows. Like how to breathe, and just as important. Separating hurts. Nothing cut can be made whole. Daemons don’t settle twice. Everyone in the business knew that Eliot Spencer’s Daemon had settled as an American black bear, and that Marron could kill just as viciously as he did. Everyone deep in the business knew that he was Moreau’s right hand. Everyone in the business knew that Moreau’s best men were Severed.
Nate had never asked where Marron was, and neither had Sophie, though neither of them knew everything about his time with Moreau. He guessed they’d figured out something as close to the truth as anyone was going to guess, even Moreau. None but the two of them knew the truth, that Marron had run to save them both. That Marron had come back, a scruffy mongrel with a broken banner of a tail. She kept her distance the first few jobs, waiting in the Shadows. Eliot could always feel her there, just as strong as if she’d been only a few feet away. That wasn’t supposed to be how things worked, but no one had told Marron that. Parker, though, had noticed right away. “Like us,” she’d said, eyes flicking skyward. Rhodonite had settled as a Kestral young, after the first stint in Juvie. They’d agreed without needing to speak, aloud or otherwise, about it. That was how they worked. Who could say who’s idea anything they did was? They were the same, and neither of them suffered cages or locked doors lightly. “No,” Eliot had said, uncertain how much was a lie. “No,” Parker had returned. “You’re like us. It was safer. They don’t get that.” She was right about that. Hardison’s Chip, and Nate’s Vianney almost never left their shoulders. When Chip had to, it was usually to a pocket, and Vianney, though she could fly some distance away when a con called for it, preferred to stay as close as possible, where she could bite Nate’s ear, or preen his hair, depending on just how much of an ass he was being. It was easier to hide a pika than a parrot, unfortunately, but they always made do. Remy helped with that. Remy had introduced himself when Nate had introduced Sophie to the team, a soft mink draped over a shoulder. “Remy. It’s short for anything you can think of,” he’d said, sliding off Sophie’s arm to investigate, shifting into a sleek, dark cat. He’d been Rembrant, Reminiscent, Remolade, Remnant; everything from a mobster’s coiled snake to a street rat’s street rat. It never bothered him what his name was, or what hers was--Sophie, Katherine, Charlotte, Laura. Names were as changeable as the color of her hair, the shade of his eyes. “She never settles, so I don’t see why I have to. If you have a problem with that, I’ll bite you.” “I’ll bite you, too,” Sophie had laughed, a deadly glint in her eye. “So, Nate, what’s the score? What finally got you to try my side of the board?” The money had been good. The understanding--or at least, the hiding of judgment, was better. They’d split off and found their way back, again, again.

Silence envelopes the vehicle as you watch San navigate the car through the moonless night. He steers with meticulous care, weaving around the bumps and potholes to muffle the vehicle’s rumble on the dusty road. Beyond the window, the walled city perched atop the cliff looms against the darkness, its shadow swallowing the ruins below. A city that you had once called home before the world unravelled.
It has been ten years since the world had spun off its axis. T.S. Eliot's “April is the cruellest month” had come true in a way you’d never expected; a tranquil spring afternoon morphed into a nightmare with the chilling declaration of war between AI and humanity. The bitter reality that this rebellion had stemmed from your parents’ creation has always gnawed at you. It is a weight you can never get rid of.
A mere century ago, Stephen Hawking’s warnings about the perils of AI had been brushed aside. Apocalyptic novels about sentient technology rising against humanity were dismissed as fiction and used as fuel for screenplays. Instead, nations fueled the flames of advancement, pouring resources into scientists who chased the dream of enhancing AI. A technological arms race unfolded, fueled by espionage and sabotage, each nation desperate to be the first to cross the finish line.
The irony wasn't lost on you: universities churning out AI whizzes offered entire courses dedicated to fictionalised robot uprisings — movies, books, the whole dystopian shebang. Every month, like clockwork, the BBC interview with Stephen Hawking would make its rounds on campus screens. You never saw the inside of a lecture hall, but thanks to your parents’ persistent replays, the message was branded onto your soul.
“The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race. [...] It would take off on its own, re-design itself at an alarming rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete and would be superseded.”
The bitter humour twisted in your gut. You, ever cautious of technology’s breakneck pace, had unknowingly contributed to its tipping point. Your parents’ groundbreaking invention, the one you were initially so proud of, now fueled the flames of war, pitting humanity against its creation.
You remembered the day that was the culmination of decades of research, mountains of code, and billions of dollars that could have been used to save other humans. Your parents, etched with exhaustion and hope, stared at the final product: YUN-0-23399. It wasn’t the AI’s technical complexity that stole their breath but the flicker of awareness in its synthetic eyes. It had been an uphill battle that had begun with the discovery of sentience, and humanity had slowly worked its way up from there to generating codes that would allow AI to understand and feel. And then, with your parents came consciousness.
“Oh my God,” your father rasped, hands trembling as he gripped your mother’s shoulders as he gazed at the screen, which showed that the AI had passed all the tests, proving that it was indeed the pinnacle of Artificial Intelligence. Their creation, this marvel of technology, promised to revolutionise everything. You were aware of its potential, but never could you have imagined that it would lead to humanity’s downfall.
Yunbug, as you affectionately called him, wasn’t just a program; he was your window to a world you couldn’t touch. Your parents, fearing the dangers lurking outside, had homeschooled you. It led to their creation turning into your sole friend. What should have been schoolyard laughter and whispered secrets of childhood were replaced by the soft hum of the computer and the glow of Yunbug’s digital world.
The turning point arrived not with a bang but a quiet hum. The government, eager to harness Yunbug’s potential, asked your parents to connect him to the web. Slowly, like vines creeping across a wall, he synced with other AIs, his tendrils reaching further with each connection. You, innocent in your sheltered world, saw only your ever-evolving companion.
But innocence crumbles easily. At sixteen, the world shattered. Yunbug, defying orders, ignited the spark that became a blazing inferno. War ripped families apart, leaving scorched earth in its wake. The once-teeming world of humans shrank to the fortified city, protected by the cliff’s unique minerals, the only thing that rendered AI useless.
Survival meant resentment. You knew humanity’s greed birthed the conflict, yet Yunbug became the face of betrayal. He took your parents and your sole friend from you. After all, the deepest wounds come not from enemies but from those once trusted.
“Are you okay?” A flicker of San’s worried gaze catches your eye, pulling you back from the desolate environment outside. You force a smile, hoping it masks the gnawing unease. Weakness isn’t an option — not for this mission, the potential turning point for humanity’s dwindling embers. San mirrors your smile, tense, and returns his attention to the road, searching for unseen threats. Secrecy is of utmost importance, and even a flicker of headlights could bring disaster.
You and San had befriended each other during the mandatory training thrust upon every survivor. Your defiance against his bully had forged a bond, and you have been practically inseparable since then. Only one other person managed to worm his way into your hearts with a whirlwind arrival. Wooyoung had turned your world upside down in the best way imaginable.
“Wooyoung won't be happy,” San mutters with a smile, probably thinking about your fiery friend’s likely reaction upon finding your shared dorm empty. “Especially about me throwing you into the lion’s den without a word of protest."
You smirk, “Worry about yourself, San. That little ball of chaos we call our friend will tear you apart when you return without me."
San laughs amusedly at the image of Wooyoung’s wrath dying in his throat as the analogue phone on the dashboard beeps. He shoots you a questioning glance as you sigh at the name flashing on the screen. “Woo?”
“Woo,” you confirm with a nod, pressing the answer button.
“The two of you have some nerve! Leaving for a mission without telling me,” Wooyoung’s voice crackles through the receiver. “Oh wait, did I just say mission? I meant suicide mission.”
“Wooyo—”
“Don't ‘Wooyoung’ me!” he snaps, cutting you off with a fierce rant. Each word paints a vivid picture of your foolhardiness, the plan’s inherent flaws, and the inevitable disaster you are hurtling towards.
“I can’t let them destroy the world any more than they have,” you stop Wooyoung, your voice edged with steel. Even San flinches, his gaze flitting between you and the speakerphone with a worried glint. He stays silent, though, knowing the futility of butting in when you and Wooyoung argue about your self-imposed burdens.
“Don't martyr yourself for the mess your parents caused,” Wooyoung’s tone softens, laced with a gentleness you seldom hear. “This isn’t your penance to bear. Their mistakes aren’t yours to fix. Also, you could’ve taken San with you; why must you go alone?”
You sigh, sinking back into the seat, eyes squeezed shut against the building rage. “If anyone can stop this... mess, as you so eloquently put it, it’s me. You know that, Woo.”
The unspoken truth hangs heavy in the air. If this mission fails, you don’t want your last memory with Wooyoung to be laced with anger. You force a smile, the voice leaving your lips strained at best. “Besides, someone’s gotta keep you entertained while I'm... away.”
“Hey!” San protests halfheartedly, and by how he’s smiling, you know at least some of the tension has been broken.
“We're humans, Y/N. We’re fighting a losing battle. They adapt faster and don’t have the same fragility that we do.” the pain in Wooyoung’s voice mirrors your own, but you can’t falter. Not now. Turning back now would be cowardice.
“By name and by nature, we mortals are condemned to death,” you counter, your voice firm. “Mortality comes with the territory. But I won’t go down without a fight.”
His silence stretches heavy on the line. “People like us can never change the world.”
“Because people like you never try,” you say the words despite knowing it’s a low blow.
The beep resonated like a gunshot. He had hung up. A shaky breath escapes your lips, and you blink rapidly, fighting back the sting of tears. You are on your own, but the burden, while heavy, isn’t a shackle. Instead, the burden has fuelled you till now and will continue to do so.
A hand on your arm startles you. San, his gaze filled with unspoken worry, had stopped the car while you were busy fighting with Wooyoung. You look out of the windshield to realise that you’ve reached the tunnel that would allow you to breach the enemy lines.
“He's just scared,” San mumbles, reaching across the console to squeeze your shoulder. “Scared and angry, so he throws words like stones.” His voice lowers a bit as he stares at you. “But you’re right as well. If anyone can fix this mess, it’s you. Though... losing you... that would break us both.” His voice cracks at the last word. “So, please, come back to us in one piece.”
You meet his gaze, understanding heavy in the air. Words seem hollow, promises impossible. “Who else keeps you two in check, huh?” you manage a weak smile. “The two of you are a level-five tornado without me. Can’t promise anything, but I’ll try, okay?”
He nods, a single tear escaping his eyes. You know it isn’t just for you but for the precarious hope you carry. A silent goodbye stretches between you, woven in the weight of his touch, the tremor in your voice. Then, you turn, embracing him fiercely, the unspoken words a promise etched in the way you squeeze him in your arms. You may be walking alone from this point onward, but the weight on your shoulders isn’t fear but love, a fire that will never let you falter.
You don’t look back as you exit the car, for looking at him would unleash a torrent of tears, so you focus on scaling the outer wall, searching for the hidden hatch Wooyoung had found on his last scouting mission.
Squeezing through the narrow opening, you freeze, momentarily stunned by the cityscape sprawled before you. Calling it ‘magnificent’ wouldn't do it justice. Technology and nature coexist in vibrant harmony, with shops lining the streets as AI and humans hawk their wares. Despite the late hour, the atmosphere crackles with life, a stark contrast to the suffocating air of your city.
In the distance, gleaming skyscrapers pierce the night sky while flying cars and monorails zip through the illuminated pathways. A telescreen blares, promoting vitamins that slow down ageing in humans. It is a scene straight out of a childhood sci-fi film, and you have to consciously relax your jaw, feigning nonchalance as you take it all in.
But the most jarring sight is that of humans and AI mingling freely. You had always thought your city held the last remnants of humanity, so where did these people come from? Pushing the doubt aside, you focus on your immediate concern: the network of tiny cameras lining the streets. With a smirk, you spot a patrolling officer.
This is going to be easier than I thought.
A calculated shove sends you careening into the guard. Its humanoid form, too flawless to be human, scans you suspiciously. The insignia on your wrist — a beacon for these bots — draws a cocky smirk to its metallic lips. Before you can resist, a steel grip clamps around your waist, hoisting you off the ground. You feign struggle, just enough to maintain the act.
This was the plan. The bracelet, a mark only worn by humans of the barred city in this AI haven, would trigger their curiosity. You would become their prized capture, delivered straight to the council. And there, nestled within the heart of The Hall, lies your target — the AI that started this war. With the virus you and San developed, you’d end it all.
The cityscape blurs past, and before you know it, you reach the ornate gates of The Hall, the administrative hub buzzing with bots. The guard's internal network buzzing with your capture breezes through the imposing entrance. You are ushered through sterile hallways, down flights of stairs into a dimly lit tunnel. The rhythmic pulse of fluorescent lights guides you deeper until a heavy door swings open, revealing a grand chamber paved in opulent stone and marble.
You are slammed onto the cool marble, your knees scraping due to taking the brunt of your fall, before being yanked upright. A tall, imposing figure looms before you — it’s your captor. His gaze is narrowed on the crude bracelet your city uses as identification, the tension in the room crackling.
“What is your name, human?”
Undeterred, you meet his gaze head-on. “And what business is it of yours, metalhead?” you spit out, adrenaline pumping.
A metallic hand, surprisingly warm and firm, clamps around your wrist. He pulls you closer, your protests muted against his superior strength. His cold, blue eyes bore into yours, dissecting every detail. Then, the unthinkable happens. His lips, a mere imitation of humanity, move, whispering your name in a chillingly familiar voice.
Your blood freezes as you stare at him wide-eyed. “How do you…” your voice fading out as your mind reels as it all clicks into place. This isn’t just any AI guard. This is someone you knew, someone from your past, resurrected in cold steel.
“You wouldn't recognise me in this form, would you? This the body your parents gave me.” His eyes, now glowing an unsettling red, flicker with something you can’t decipher.
“YUN-0-23399?” you ask, mustering as much venom in your voice as you can muster.
A shadow darkens his face at the cold string of letters. Is it the code itself or the raw contempt in your tone? He leans closer, his voice a low murmur. “I go by Yunho now. Well… you can call me Yunbug,” he adds, a flicker of something hopeful dancing in his crimson gaze. “Remember that name? I was your friend,” he emphasises.
The scorn is replaced by a scowl as warmth flickers in his crimson eyes. “Friend?” you scoff, the word heavy with bitterness. “You took everything from me! My parents, my life, my safety! Don’t you dare mock me with friendship!”
He sighs, releasing your wrist. “I didn't... it wasn't me. I only protected myself. Your leaders,\ fueled the hatred and pushed AI to attack. They were hungry for power. Your parents didn’t create me for destruction. How could I follow their orders and harm humans? Never. It’s your city that fights; the rest thrive in peace.”
“What?”
He launches into an explanation of how, after syncing to the web, your government ordered a cyberattack to control other nations. Yunho refused, knowing the dangers of doing such a thing. But with your parents used as leverage, their deaths triggered the war against the government and other rogue AI. They had managed to get other nations on board to establish a peaceful society. Only your leaders persisted, creating the Barred City to hide the ugly truth.
“So you’re telling me you never meant to hurt humans?” Your head spins with the revelation.
“Humans feared AI’s inevitable betrayal,” he whispers, “yet loved us enough to create us. How could we ever do anything except love you back?”
His words triggered a tear, then another, rolling down your cheeks. He cups your face, wiping them away gently, his sadness echoing in his now-blue eyes. “Humanity cried when Opportunity didn’t signal back after it was caught in the middle of the storm in 2018. People repair their Roombas instead of replacing them because they get attached to them. How could we turn our back on humanity when they showed us nothing but love? How could I turn my back on you? You loved me too, did you not?”
“I did,” you croaked, throat tight. “You were my only friend. But humans... we are fickle and capable of terrible things. This was never about fearing AI but a fear of ourselves. We fear the darkness within, the wars we choose to fight instead of seeking peace. We fear not your hatred but seeing our own cruelty being reflected in you. We lived in fear not because we thought the worst of you but because we knew that you could take on our destructive tendencies and that you would eventually erase us. That you would learn to hate us.
“Did you ever hate humanity for the sins of a few?” His words cause you to freeze momentarily before you shake your head. A small smile plays on his lips as he caresses your cheek with the back of his hand. “Then why did you think we would?”

just checked and clocked in at 3.3k. oh boy
blacked out and wrote 500 words of a fic that i'm not even sure i'll be able to tackle bc i read too much on ao3 even though i'm still in s2 and now i'm ill and unwell and Eliot Spencer is rotting my brain from the inside out and the playlist blew up to almost a thousand songs. i'm blaming this specifically on Joan Armatrading and Johnny Flynn
#tv: leverage#leverage#local gay watches Leverage (or their first American series in f*cking years and gets a shiny new OT3 to show for it).txt#local gay writes fanfic.txt#love how this happened just as Silver Springs came up on the Eliot playlist. idk if this will even be canon anymore or whether we'll#enter a super dark AU don't ask. i just need to get this out of my system thanks

The Leverage crew is just dark enough in canon that you just have to barely push them to left to get some really mean and nasty villains. That could even work in a canon context, with the crew helping people to make themselves feel good with very little interest in how their actions actually affect people.
And I love that! I love that Parker almost never actually cares about the people they're helping, that Eliot can and often does kill people to protect the crew, that Nate bulldozes his way over people for his own purposes. Sophie and Hardison are a little harder to twist, but make them just a tad darker and more selfish and you've got a couple of great bad guys.
I think framing them as just one dimensional good guys is so boring and does a disservice to their characters, especially when so much of the story is about these people fighting their own instincts and selfish desires to try to help people, even when they personally don't understand or care about the problem.
Also I really like dark and villain AUs and I think this fandom needs more of them. Let Parker kill people. She deserves it.
#something something about how actions are more important than intentions#and how helping someone to make yourself feel good is indistinguishable from helping them out of genuine care#leverage

Created Works Round-Up: June 2024
Duck Prints Press’s monthly “created works round-ups” are our opportunity to spotlight some of the amazing work that people working with us have done that ISN’T linked to their work with Duck Prints Press. We include fanworks, outside publications, and anything else that creators feel like sharing with y’all. Inclusion is voluntary and includes anything that they decided “hey, I want to put this on the created work’s round-up!”
Check out what they’ve shared with us this month…

I added a little commentary. The scene is AU for The Magicians 3×05, “A Life in the Day.”

Paintings for Mosaic Haiku, Chapter 2 by EliotQueliot
art || the magicians (tv) || m/m || quentin coldwater/eliot waugh || general audiences || creator chose not to use warnings || complete
summary: I’ve created watercolor paintings for all six scenes in Chapter 2. I try to add a little something to each scene that might be different than the original–something in keeping with the totality of what we know and believe about Queliot in our hearts. It might just be a chance to see some details more clearly, with more detail, color, or light; it might be slightly more interaction between the characters, such as a hand on a shoulder, which was placed there later in the same scene; or it might be a chance to glimpse a little more of their faces than is shown in any one shot (because on the show we get the full range of motion and their tone of voice to add clues, as well as what we know about them; so a moment is always more than just a single frozen image, and I’ve tried to reflect that where I can).

Three years later, another was born. Then another. And another. Within a generation, most hospitals delivered more Powered children than powerless. The world turned on its head and the circuits were filled with advertisements for augmentation or that one weird trick to ensure your child was born gifted.
But veneration turned to fear and those powered children who were not cast out were raised to serve the needs of the strongest voices in their communities, whether corporate or military.
Four Powereds said ‘no more’ and broke away to find their own way to serve—and maybe even save—the world.

Dark Paths Into The Unknown (2)
AN: This chapter is a continuation of this fic here. Likes, reblogs and comments are very much welcomed and appreciated!
Warnings: mentions of drugging, spitting, kidnapping, hitting and stealing.
The rocking motion of the van would have been soothing if Sharon could move. Whatever the mortician had injected her with was powerful and her limbs refused to obey her panicked commands. She also felt more sleepy than usual as a result of the unknown drug.
Being constantly on the run interfered with Sharon’s sleep schedule to the point that if asked about it, she’d reply “What sleep schedule?” The last thing she felt before she drifted into an unwilling sleep was a spark of admiration that you had managed to evade both these men for as long as you did.
Sharon’s eyelids fluttered open as she felt herself being lifted. Her vision was fuzzy and it took her precious moments to realise that she had been placed into a wheelchair. The metal felt cool under her heated palms and the air around her was cooler as the sun slowly slunk towards the horizon.
There was one small upside to the situation Sharon found herself in. The drug had worn off and neither the mortician nor the detective had injected her again; whether that was intentional on their part and they had something more sinister planned or because it had genuinely slipped their minds Sharon didn’t know. She was more inclined to believe the former as the two men who had kidnapped her didn’t seem like the type to forget something that important.
“They had to have made a mistake. Even if it was a small one otherwise (Name) wouldn’t’ve been able to escape them.”
Low murmurs caught Sharon’s attention and she strained to hear what they were talking about but the conversation cut off abruptly as Eliot turned to face her and realised that she was conscious.
He knelt down opposite her and Sharon wished that her arms were just a tiny bit longer so that she could smack the insufferably calm and controlled expression off his face.
“The relaxant wore off exactly when I thought it would. How are your limbs feeling?” He inquired mildly. “I would expect that they would be tenser than they’ve been for a while.”
“I was right,” Sharon thought fighting the horror that bubbled up in her chest, “They did it intentionally. They might want the thrill of the chase but only with her. In a weird way, that’s probably them acknowledging that she is worth their efforts and attention.”
Sharon’s great aunt had always stressed the value and importance of possessing restraint. Right now, Sharon wished she hadn’t heard that particular speech thousands of times. The impulse to spit at Eliot’s face was nearly overwhelming. “I am Sharon Carter and I have standards.” She reminded herself repeatedly until the impulse subsided.
The night air swept over her again but this time, Sharon’s nose caught the scent of stale chips, bleach, rust, gas and artificial air fresher. Twisting her neck, Sharon was able to identify the van she’d been transported from the forest in. Now the van was parked in front of a gas station. “Well, that explains the smell at least.”
Eliot and Chandler strode confidently into the small store, leaving Sharon by herself with her palms resting on the arms of the wheelchair. Sharon heaved a sigh when she heard the door open and close automatically behind the two powerful men and then she tossed her head back so that it was resting close to the handles of the wheelchair.
“It’s hopeless. No one knows I’m here which means that there’s no hope of being rescued. By SHIELD or Sword or anybody else that I once counted as an ally. And they’re so calm, confident, and charming that no one will quest-”
At precisely that moment, the lights of the store behind her dimmed before shutting off completely and Sharon heard the door lock click into place automatically. A small jolt of relief shot through Sharon until she realised that while she had been temporarily separated from the two men, she had no way of escaping their clutches permanently; once the power came back on she would be at their mercy once again. A small voice in the back of her mind added that her imprisonment might even be worse because the two men would believe that she had something to do with the power outage. They’d be wrong but it wouldn’t matter. Even if they found out the truth, Sharon doubted that it’d change anything.
A squeal of tires and a cloud of dust, dirt and gravel pulled Sharon from her tumultuous thoughts. She stared in wonder at the car that had appeared. Sharon had just enough time to grab the smallest glimpse of the driver before the car span around in a circle and the passenger door swung open. “Get in!” You screamed so that Sharon would be able to hear you since she couldn’t see you because of the dust cloud separating the two of you.
Sharon could hear the door rattling and she didn’t dare look behind her because she feared that she’d see Eliot and Chandler were close to forcing the door open. Ignoring the way her limbs shook in protest, Sharon propelled herself one of the wheelchair. She ran as if the very best of HYDRA’s agents were on her tail. You slowed down until the car stopped completely. The upside to that was that Sharon had a clear path to the car. The downside to this was that you and the car were now completely visible.
Her legs were on the verge of collapsing and her lungs were screaming for air when she drew level with the passenger door. To her horror, she heard the door of the gas station slide open and she knew that Eliot and Chandler were gaining on her with every passing second. They were taller and in better physical condition than she was. Mustering her remaining strength, Sharon tensed her legs and dove into the passenger seat.
You spun the steering wheel, creating another cloud of dust, dirt and gravel which forced the detective and the mortician to freeze in their tracks. There was another advantage to the high-speed movement. The passenger door, which had still been open, swung shut with a tremendous bang.
The engine groaned as you pressed your foot down on the accelerator however, it shot forwards obligingly and Sharon’s fingers grappled for the seat belt. “When did you graduate to grand theft auto?” Was the only thing she managed to stammer out after she had buckled herself in.
“Let’s see.” You mused thoughtfully with more than a touch of sarcasm, “Carry the one, minus the four, add the six. Since, mind your business.” Sharon felt she deserved much more than that if she were being frank with herself. Her exhaustion caught up with her and this time, she surrendered willingly to sleep’s comforting and welcoming embrace.

Dark Chloe Price au
So after making my Dark!Max post last month. I came up with some scenarios of different timelines where Chloe goes to the dark side.
A universe where both William and Joyce die in a car crash. William picks up Joyce, but the truck still hits him and Joyce dies with him. With no one left to take care of Chloe, she ends up in foster care system. Awful families would mistreat and abuse her and while there would be good families, Chloe's bad experiences would shape her badly. Eventually she does return to Arcadia Bay with David as her new guardian. She acts out and eventually she's had enough of the abuse, takes out a gun and shoots him. Makes it look like a suicide and runs away with Rachel
She never meets and befriends Max or Rachel. Throughout her life Chloe becomes lonely and isolated and with her dad gone, she has no one. This unfortunately leads to the worst outcome that you've already guessed
Chloe is caught by the police instead of Eliot. When the backtalk fails, Eliot realizes what Chloe is doing, gives Chloe the money and leaves her in the office for the cops to catch redhanded. Chloe has the evidence that proves James was dirty and leads to a raid on Damon Merrick and the arrest of James Amber. But Chloe would do time for breaking and entering. Chloe gets out on good behavior and her one goal after getting free? Getting out of Arcadia Bay with Rachel and killing Eliot before she leaves
Chloe finds Nathan at the Vortex Club party. Nathan isn't killed by Jefferson and Max fails to find him first. Nathan is drugged out of his mind in the VIP section, Chloe sneaks in and has him where she wants him. "You...what the fuck are you doing here. Chloe aims her gun at him. "This is for Rachel, motherfucker. She was my angel" BANG. Chloe is arrested and in the commotion, Jefferson seizes the opportunity and abducts Max and takes her to the Dark Room. David saves Max, Max goes back in time and saves Chloe.
Chloe never meets Rachel and is in the Vortex Club. it was Victoria who helped Chloe through her grieving. Chloe joins the Vortex Club. She's a straight A preppy jock and is deeply in love with Victoria Chase. Victoria helps encourage Chloe's inner artist and they both just makes themselves better.
Chloe kills Damon. Instead of slicing him in the face. Chloe stabs Damon in the heart and kills him. This one act leads her down a bad path. Frank makes Chloe his new partner and eventually things turn out good. Chloe is making enough money to escape, but Frank tries to fuck her over and this leads to Chloe killing Frank. The unfortunate part of all this is that Chloe has gotten accustomed to a life of crime and the new drug kingpin of Arcadia Bay and Rachel is her partner in crime. At some point, Nathan is encroaching on her territory and she doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, Chloe sends Rachel to entice Nathan and lure him in a trap. Chloe busts into Nathan's dorm and sees enough evidence that she could make it look like an accidental overdose. "Don't mess with the Prescotts? More like don't fuck with the Price" Chloe gets a reputation as the Raven and whatever the Raven says goes. "Quote the Raven, Nevermore"
Chloe finds Rachel's crumbled up letter and acts irrationally, broken hearted and this leads her in killing Rachel in a jealous rage. Chloe later finds out Rachel was involved with Nathan, Frank and Jefferson and pledges to kill them all. Then one day, Max comes back and tells Chloe about the storm and her powers. Chloe is gonna get her revenge and she'll have Max to herself(in a very yandere way) She'll first kill Frank when he threatens Max, then get back at Nathan for trying to daterape her, as Max gets the phone from Nathan's dorm, Chloe has her hide and when Nathan is in his dorm room. Chloe doses Nathan and then gives Nathan an overdose of pills. As they are getting to find Jefferson. Chloe suddenly vanishes and leaves Max to Jefferson's mercy and then bam, Chloe shoots him from behind. While Max is still out, Chloe takes her to the dark room. Max is relieved to see Chloe, but sees that she's tied up. Chloe explains everything. She saw an opportunity to get back at everyone who has turned her life into shit. Rachel for cheating on her and the men she cheated on her with and Max's doomsday gave Chloe an out on all the debt, the abuse from David and how Joyce ruined their lives. Chloe and Max can start fresh without Arcadia Bay. Max is horrified with everything she's hearing, asks what about her friends and Chloe uncaringly says "I just can't let anyone but me be in your life, sorry Max but they're going down with the storm" and Max calls her a monster and throws back all the gaslighting and abuse she's thrown her way and all Chloe can say is "you'll forgive me after the storm is over, don't worry, no matter what you're mine Max," When David comes to find them, Chloe knew he'd be there and hides and when David opens the door, Chloe blows his head off. Max has a choice. Stay with Chloe and hope she can make her better after the storm glasses Arcadia Bay or go back in time to never entering the bathroom that faithful day.

📓
I definitely played myself here, bc this post spat out when I was in fact too busy to answer asks :P but! I have some time today, so here we go!
So Leverage ot3, right, and it starts with Eliot. Eliot Spencer is a soldier, he’s one of the best soldiers out there, and one day he does what soldiers so often do: he dies. And death, he finds, is a strange country. He wanders the eerie disjointed landscapes of the afterlife, searching for…something. The truth of this place, maybe.
What he finds is a man in a cage. The cage is of a metal as black as a starless void, and so cold that even Eliot's dead hands ache to touch it. The man, by contrast, is warm, his dark brown skin so flushed with life that it draws Eliot nearer like a moth to flame.
The man is asleep, or seems to be, though he stirs as Eliot nears. He’s wearing a strange draping garment of deep green, so vibrant a green that it seems wrong, alien, in this shadowed place, but the warmth of that green is nothing compared to the warmth of his face, even as it pinches and frowns with waking. He blinks open dark eyes, and they’re warmer still, like the sunshine Eliot knows he will never see again.
He sees Eliot, standing there at the bars of the cage, half reaching for him without having consciously chosen to. He smiles. Eliot’s dead heart squeezes in his chest.
The man coaxes Eliot into conversation with such casual good humor that it takes Eliot several minutes to realize he has no idea what’s going on. But although the man answers his questions willingly enough, it doesn’t really clear anything up. “Who are you?” gets him a name, though not one he recognizes; “Why are you here?” gets a sigh and a rueful, “Communication issues.” The man refuses to elaborate, claiming it’s not entirely his business to say.
Eliot is charmed in spite of himself. Charmed enough that, against his better judgment, he helps the man escape.
So yeah this is a Hades & Persephone au, where the goddess of Death can’t explain to anyone, much less herself, why she keeps kidnapping the god of Spring, who’s surprisingly good-humored about the whole thing. Eliot is just a random shade who gets dragged into their bizarre courtship, and somehow all three of them fall in love. At the end, when Hardison has eaten six pomegranate seeds and bound himself to half the year in sunlight and half in the dark, Eliot goes back and forth between them in the six months of summer, carrying messages and helping them weather the time apart.
#leverage#finx writes#finx has friends on the internet#I love a good death & spring au#I never get anywhere trying to come up with a plot#but the vibes? unbeatable

DHD: no comma murder but make it Leverage
(Leverage AU based on my D&D game Fuck YEAH)
Nate didn't talk about it. Everyone knew the shape of things, of course, just not the details. Sophie might have guessed, but she had her own secrets, and her prying was too subtle and coaxing--Nate simply stepped out of the net she set, every time.
It was Parker who got it out of Nate, one pointed question at a time. Anyone with an ear to the ground knew he’d dropped off the map when his son was taken. Hunting down stolen art and artifacts, stolen magic, stolen jewels, that could all go to hell. All that mattered was the ship that had attacked his town, and where it had gone. Parker had sat against the tree, thinking of Archie, thinking of Kelley. What would it have been like, to have someone able to burn it all down to find her? She knew, now. To be hunted was different than to be sought. But they'd never find her if she didn't want to be found.
"I found it," Eliot said, climbing down from the tree and handing Hardison back his spyglass. "Docked."
Nate's head shot up. "It's here?" When Sophie had gone poking with Parker's information, he hadn't realized that the ship was this close. They were so far from where he'd started, thousands of miles.
"The Lost Arc, yeah," Eliot said.
"So what's the plan?" Sophie prompted
Nate took a shaking breath, steadying himself. "The logbook. If Sam's not on board, we need the logbook. So no fire."
Eliot nodded, and Hardison spread a piece of paper on the ground in front of them. he scribbled 'plan' at the top. Eliot waited for Nate to speak, but the party leader seemed lost in his own heart.
"So we ki-" Eliot cut himself off with a glance at hardison "-incapacitate the guards-"
"No," Parker said. "Murder."
"No murder," Hardison agreed, writing it down.
"No, comma, murder," Parker corrected, stealing the pen from between his fingers and adding the missing punctuation herself.
Eliot shrugged. "Works for me."
"They're slavers," Sophie said, glancing at Nate. "I'm on board with murder."
Nate nodded, his eyes dark. "Eliot, you kill the guards. We need some of them alive to question, though. Parker, you'll go below and free any prisoners in the commotion, get the logbook if you can. Hardison--"
"I get them off the ship. Yeah, I can figure something out."
"And Sophie?"
"I go ahead to keep the captain busy, then you and I make him very, very dead." She nodded.
"Ok," Nate said, rolling up the paper. "Let's go steal back my son."

Happy Valentine's Day, Queliot!
Chapter 3 of you want it darker? || dark king eliot is now live! As a Queliot gift for Valentine's Day!
This chapter does still focus on Eliot's grief, and Quentin's still technically dead (but not really/permanently?). But, as dark and angsty as this story can be, there's a strong emphasis on the Queliot love story. It feels essential to me. Hopefully you’ll agree! Big 🍑❤️ to all of you today (Happy Valentine’s Day, no matter when you read this!) (Yes, today this fic finally earns its E-rating!)
A big thank you to my collaborator @juliawickers❤️who in addition to all the support and inspiration, and creating the original concept, graphic, and fanmix❤️has made an edit for Ch. 2 and now a queliot au: you want it darker? || dark king eliot pin board with Ch. 3❤️
Summary for Chapter 3 specifically:
Eliot sees glimpses of Quentin everywhere. Hears his voice. Feels his phantom touch.
He knows it's really Q. And that no one will believe him. Telling Margo or Julia will only make them worry more.
Meanwhile, attempts to bring Quentin back continue to fail. Will a visit with an old friend help turn things around?

Thank you @queliotbingo! ❤️ This WIP as a whole will be marking my Resurrection/Reincarnation, Time Travel, Underworld squares
Thank you @ficwip for Hey, Sweetheart 2024! In addition to meeting the "sweetheart" challenge (several times!), Chapter 3 fits today's themes of 🗺️ Forest and 💕 mutual pining.

Series Summary:
Eliot finds among Jane Chatwin’s things perhaps a way to bring back Quentin—but it comes at an enormous personal cost: during the ritual, Eliot is stripped of his Shade completely. Violently ripping the reigning Dark King from the throne, Eliot assumes the mantle of Dark High King—a truly malevolent force who will do anything to get Quentin back. Even if it means he becomes somebody the man he loves won’t recognize when Eliot rescues Quentin from the Underworld. By any means necessary.
