Honestly, while I'm a firm believer that David would die in Chapter 5 (as all crazy rival characters do), after pondering over @a-student-out-of-time's theory regarding David being like a decoy rival (in the vein of someone like V3's Angie), I'm starting to have some second opinions. If he isn't the Chapter 2 culprit, I'm starting to believe he'd be one of the Chapter 3 victims.

But while @a-student-out-of-time seems to view David as an irredeemable manipulative villain, assuming that David is the Chapter 2 culprit, I personally believe that David is trying to pull something similar to Ayame in DRA's second trial (aka. trying to pull an evil a-hole persona, to try and prevent people from feeling sorry for him). On the other hand, a hypothetical "David as a Chapter 3 victim" would make an equal amount of sense.

This actually reminds me of something I've seen in another Fangan: @danganronpa96's Yuri (DDLC). The bottom line is, after having tampering with the body and just generally unnerving people during and after the Chapter 2 trial, she ends up getting killed in the Chapter 3 trial. Overall, I believe that DR96!Yuri and David both have the same energy and thus, the theory stands/j.

If there are nitpicks I have with the theory, it would be one of the primary motivations the blog has for believing this theory: the idea that Teruko doesn't need a "rival" character, for she already is the "rival" archetype. I find this assessment of her character to be highly inaccurate. When looking at the canon "rival" characters, they primarily have one thing in common: regularly screwing over the trials for fun. However, it's quite clear that she's one of the few people who sets the trials on track. Going by that logic, pretty much everyone else in the cast would be the "rival" character, except they end up screwing the trial over purely due to incompetence.

If anything, I feel as though DRDT is less like playing as the Byakuya/Nagito/Kokichi of the group, and more like the Fuyuhiko or Maki of the group (playing the rude-at-first dark-past character who slowly lightens up and befriends the cast).

Hi hey hello! Progress on the current part of the chapter is doing good things. Man it's been a while since I've drawn these guys (wink wink nudge nudge)

So for a while now I've wanted to change the current blog's header image to something else (even though I suppose 'no boat' Walter and 'no murder' Yuri is kinda iconic hehe). But I thought instead of me making it, I'd force someone else to instead! I love labor!! (/j)

I'm going to be holding a little contest that you can join to create a header for the DR96 blog! Here are the rules:

The header must be 3000 width x 1055 height (in pixels)

You can either draw or make an edit, either are welcome! (no AI-generated submissions please, I have faith none of you would ever do that but I'm just adding it here in case)

For edits, you are permitted to use mine and Rexx's art from the fic (or the blog). Only use other people's art if you have permission to do so (you don't need permission if it's official artwork from the media don't worry)

To make things easier, you may only be allowed to submit one header for the contest

As for content allowed, please keep it DR96 relevant in some way (you don't have to include every single character, just use whoever you'd like). You can use DR69 content, but only if you pair it with DR96. Since this blog is primarily focused on DR96 and it's updates, I'd prefer if the header reflected that

Both silly and serious submissions are allowed

Do not put heavy spoilers in your header (e.g. masterminds, traitors, deaths), but out of context ones are fine (like the ones in the current header)

To submit your header, either reblog this post with your image, send it through the inbox (make sure you do it off anon or I won't know who made it), or post it to your blog and tag me (@danganronpa96) in the post so I can find it
