D.A.N.M Polycule Holiday Headcanons

Huxley bakes cookies every year cause it reminds him of Christmas with his moms

Damian goes to see the lights every year when his mom has the time (she makes sure to take at least one night off to do it with him every year)

Gavin has no idea what the holidays are really about or what the traditions are but he loves doing and learning about the activities with everyone

Lasko was raised Jewish but hasn't really celebrated since he left home, and honestly low key resents the holiday at first because of what happened with his family. The rest of the group bought him a Menorah when they learned about this

The first time Hux invites everyone over to bake with him Lasko ends up crying cause he realizes what he's been missing out on all these years

The others hug and cuddle him until he feels better, somebody brings him a large cup of hot cocoa with lots of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon it was Damian, to help make him feel better. The poor boy only cries harder.

Lasko stops crying because Damian said something meaning to be comforting and Gavin makes some innuendo about it and Damian loses his mind.

Freelancer teams up with Damian to make a wonderful Holiday dinner for everyone

Damian loves the Christmas horror movies, he watched Krampus multiple times the year it came out.

Huxley, Gavin, and Lasko set up a "blanket fort" which really ends up being a large pallet of blankets cause they couldn't find enough blankets to make a roof, and the whole group makes a cuddle puddle while watching Christmas movies and eating the fresh baked cookies

They watch Damian's pick first, the horror, and Lasko is hiding in Huxley's side the whole time

Then they watch a Halmark Romcom, Hux and Lasko's pick, Gavin has a field day with this cheesyness

And they finish the night with Jim Cary's The Grinch, Freelancer's pick

Gavin is really confused about the religious aspects of the holiday but damn does this boy have the Christmas spirit. After watching the shitty romcom he immediately suggests they all go caroling

He also insists they leave out milk and cookies for Santa , the others aren't sure if he thinks Santa is real or not but none of them wanna ruin it if he does so they don't say anything and make sure everybody gets a present from Santa under the tree just in case

Speaking of, their tree is fresh, insisted upon by Huxley, and they all went to the store and picked out some ornaments separately so the tree is a beautiful mishmash of all of their tastes

They all fall asleep cuddled up on the floor, with half finished hot cocoas and a huge plate of cookies obviously decorated by the 5 of them

Polycule D.A.M.N Crew Headcanons

Was going through @polydamnory posts for the D.A.M.N polycule and it's inspired me to write down some of my own headcanons for these guys. Enjoy!

Dear and Damien are both the chefs of the polycule, Dear is probably the most trusted person to cook in Damiens kitchen unsupervised.

Huxely likes giving extra hugs to his partners whenever they're stressed out about something but it's really just an excuse to pick them up and drag them away from their laptop/whatever they're working on so they can get some proper rest. Has done this on both Damien and Freelancer when they both desperately needed a break from cram studying especially if the usual pleads to take a break don't intially work.

Dear has magic hands where whenever they run their fingers through their partners hair, they all melt at their touch. They turn to pudding as soon as those head rubs happen. They've actually helped a lot with migraines that Freelancer and Damien have.

Gavin, Freelancer and Dear have competitions sometimes to see who can fluster Lasko up more in one day. They all think he's adorable when he's choking on his words and trying to come up with a coherent sentence after mercilessly being teased. So far Gavin and Dear are neck in neck with these challenges.

Speaking of Gavin and Dear, Dear I feel like is someone who doesn't get flustered often which Gavin sees as a personal challenge to fluster them up whenever he gets the chance. Dear finds Gavin very cute whenever he tries to and flirts right back with that same energy.

This is more of a personal headcanon but from tallest to shortest it's Huxely, Dear, Gavin, Damien, Freelancer, and Lasko.

Lasko manages to get everyone into DnD and the polycule tries their best to schedule at least one session a month depending on their own schedules. Lasko usually DMs but Dear also DMs so Lasko can have a chance to play too. Gavin and Freelancer both shamelessly flirt with the DM no matter who it is and whenever it's Lasko it usually throws him off for a good minute or so.

Lasko gets cold very easily so he usually goes to Damien for cuddles when he's feeling extra frosty. Damien doesn't mind and likes having Lasko in his lap while he works if it keeps him warm.

Following up with that headcanon, Damien gets Lasko a shit ton of warm clothes, blankets and socks so he can wear em around the house around fall and winter because of how easily Lasko gets cold.

Freelancer smacks all their partners asses equally and with accurate precision.

Huxely I feel like would be a really good gardener for vegetables and fruits, Dear helps him with growing them. Every few months when certain fruits are in season, they bring em back to share with the polycule and make desserts outta them. Dear makes some killer peach cobbler, apple pies, strawberry pastries etc outta them and there's usually nothing left by the end of the week.

Gavin likes to playfully push Damiens buttons. Right when Damien looks like he's about to blow, Gavin kisses him and it gets to Damien every time lol. Gavin finds it highly amusing.

Freelancer likes giving gentle love bites to all their partners, it's not sexual all the time but whenever they're cuddling one of em or hugging them they have specific spots they like to go for.

For example, Freelancer likes giving love bites on Huxelys and Dears chests. For Damien it's his arms and chests if he's the bigger spoon while cuddling. For Gavin and Lasko it's their necks or arms, whichever is more accessible at the moment.

Dear most of the time is really good at hiding their emotions whenever they're stressed about something or just feeling sad in general but Huxely can pick up the signs pretty quickly. When it comes to his partners he's very observant and can tell when somethings off with any one of them and that includes Dear. Cuddling sometimes turns into a good cry sesh depending on how severe whatever is affecting Dear is.

Freelancer I headcanon as a little bit of a goofball and loves making their partners laugh, it's a wonderful feeling to see nearly all of the polycule wheezing and laughing at their stupid lil jokes and they take heavy pride in it.

Crow Folkestone, aka Freelancer/Voyeur/Deviant/Silly!

Crow grew up moving around a lot and with not great parents. When his powers started manifesting, his family treated him even more like the dirt on the bottom of their shoes. After Caelum appeared to him for the first time, he ran away from his family and went no contact with them

He's very much got a grunge/skater kinda vibe to him. A lot of thrifted and oversized stuff. Baggy jeans, big shirts and sweatpants, chunky sneakers, yk the vibes

He's transmasc (he/they/it), he presents pretty masc but he doesn't bind and has a pretty large chest, so he kind of appears androgynous because of it

Crow is white (irish/scottish)

About 25-26 ish?

Crow is chubby, with large thighs, a thick tummy, large chest, and the kind of arms that dads who don't work out but are still very strong have

Crow's closest relationships are the D.A.M.N. crew. my version of redacted has them as a polycule! crow and gavin are primary partners though. they love their boys so much. and also caelum, but like. he's their son

Crow has a numerous amount of hobbies, from photography (loves bringing a digicam everywhere he goes, esp with the D.A.M.N. crew, and recording memories), to writing poetry, to singing and playing guitar/bass, and more! They love video games, and reading books, and watching videos, and writing, and hanging out with the crew!

Not technically a deity, but a hero from myth: Crow would be Patroclus. Their dedication to their friends and lovers is so strong they would die for any of them. They don't want to be the hero, and are uncomfortable with the attention it can bring, but they're thrusted into the role anyways and have grown because of it

Redacted Audio's D.A.M.N. Storyline!

Crow is incredibly dedicated and very understanding. Past relationships have made them very much a pleaser and go-with-the-flow about things (/neutral, some partners were good, most were not, but both experiences shaped him). They understand limits and don't expect anything in return, even if they secretly want someone to dote on them. Crow wants to be the muse and not just the artist sometimes. In the past they were more the one doing things for their partner/s, so having Gavin do things for them like they would do still catches them off guard now and then. For their friends, Crow likes to treat them almost like other partners; that same dedication is given to them as well. Crow likes making sure everyone is happy and is heard

Crow values being truthful to oneself greatly, as well as having love for humanity

Crow is the truest "listenersona" i have, so their design is actually based on what i look like irl! just with a few differences (eye color and some minor body details mainly)

Crow stands at 5'8 1/2, with shaggy/curly dark brown hair in a shag mullet with fluffy bangs. A small braid hangs from behind their ear, given to them by Caelum. They have brown eyes and freckles across their face and body. They have piercings on their face and ears (septum & paired nostrils, center labret, stretched ears [2g], four more piercings in each ear), and tattoos across their body. Recently he got on testosterone. He's pretty hairy. Almost like a cub?

Crow is absolutely a puppyboy. It's also a polyglot! He calls Gavin "playboy", as well as "lover boy". Absolute stoner. It's assigned the D.A.M.N. crew as Muppets. He is just chef's kiss.

This listener lab design is one of the coolest things ever! Is it weird to say thank you? I love when creators give back to their community like this, and this is such a good way of doing that!

LaVeau-gue - design #002 - Freelancer - Crow - Redactedgender

Heyo! You're welcome for making your design, I don't think it's weird really, it goes a long way to remind people that artists and creators are in fact human and do not exist for the benefit and entertainment of fandoms or people (you wouldn't believe the sense of entitlement on some folks really) but enough about that, here's the design for crow!

Design Notes!

There's a little something I like to keep in mind sometimes and something that I have to remind myself about from time to time which is:

"Sometimes people don't want your extra touch, they just want you to draw something for them."

That is something I had to keep in mind for this design so instead of going on a tangent in regards to how my own, I'll just let ya know how I interepreted your notes:

In particular, I chose to just take your visual notes literally, making sure to incorporate the different piercings where I could make them visible. Other stuff like its haircut, freckles, eyes and hair type were just thongs I took at face value.

Now when it came to a few other elements, things got tricky:

You specified that Crow had tattoos but never specified what those tattoos were so I decided to improvise by incorporating barbs, the anarchist symbol, a broken heart, a "live" tatoo and a star om their arms since they seemed to make sense for his backstory.

In terms of fashion, I leaned into the skater/grunge aesthetic to create something easy, breezy that could fit the vibe but also felt androgynous whilst leaning into masc territory.

A few special tidbits I incorporated was the braid-by which I mean that I used a pink hair tie on it to colour match with Caelum and gave Crow a hot pink collar that I like to think he got from Gavin.

Crow genuinely feels like a character who doesn't see themself as the main character but perceivs himself as an extra in everybody else's life, its fashion does come from a more bold subculture but they also seem very much to be the type to be the lone skater dude. In conjunction with this, your pick of Patroclus was interesting as it general supports my theory that Crow likely doesn't see themself as their own person but as a part to other people's stories. As such, I felt it best to give crow an appearance that would match that, something that would at least look different to your average Joe but wouldn't seem to out of place in a city like Dahlia I'm California.

Outside of the d.a.m.n. polycule crew, which character/couple is most likely to become or have been poly in the past?

Adding on to what the recent Anon said about how characters in the Redacted Audio fandom are misinterpreted + the fandom in general:

The redacted fandom is full of creative and skilled minds (artists, writers, etc) but some can be so intense?

Like the other anon said, I've seen so many people headcanon whatever they want and get angry when people don't agree. Some even lie and say like "Erik said [headcanon]" when he never did? Not to mention, some people will passionately insist on all of the listeners being women/fem because anything other than heterosexual "doesn't fit the character" (???) despite Erik literally saying that all of the listeners are presented as gender neutral (his YouTube bio). Like headcanon whatever you want. In fact I love seeing so many of them. Erik literally said both the characters' and listeners' sexuality, appearance, etc are up to the individual audience to interpret however they want (1:25:50 and 1:49:52 from the "just hanging out stream." Not catching myself be a hypocrite thank you), but let's not get mad if people don't agree? The only canon information is what we see in the actual videos.

For example, the D.A.M.N crew. There are so many cute relationships that can be headcanoned there (and Erik even released non-canon videos between the Freelancer and the crew). And if you've known about the crew, you probably know about the D.A.M.N polycule. It's a very cute and very much "found family" relationship, but on more than a couple occasions, I've seen (on both AO3 and Tumblr) comments that bash on anyone that question it or prefer monogamous relationships. Poly is not for everyone and that's okay. It doesn't mean they hate poly, it just means poly isn't for them. Both polyamorous and monogamous relationships are valid (this ofc applies to every ship/relationship).

Also, speaking of the crew, Gavin seems so misunderstood in the fandom? Again, you can headcanon whatever you want, but I'm mentioning this because I've seen arguments/hate about how some people (Group A) find it ridiculous when other people (Group B) believe that Gavin will not continue sleeping around while with Freelancer: From what is said/shown in the videos, Gavin has said things like "I'm not just sex/pleasure," "sex is what I survive on but it's not all that I am," "I don't want to be like this/not just this (sex)" time and time again. Still, some people think it "only makes sense" for Gavin to continue sleeping with anyone for food like he used (after his confession) just because he's an Incubus. Yes he still flirts with other people for some energy, but he doesn't want to just fuck around anymore, so it's really not a ridiculous belief. His whole development was about understanding and becoming comfortable with his different values as an Incubus, about being more than what he's been told that he is just because he's an Incubus.

First Sight by Adiescar Chase I cant really explain? it´s only because Lasko said he had a crush on them for as long as he´d known them. 3. Glue Song by Beabadoobee The cutest song for the cutest couple!!! This song is sweet and so beautiful, i can only think about Lasko´s crush on Freelancer, and how he felt before confessing, and being in disbelief after they reciprocated that crush, too!!

David/Angel 1. Je te laisserai des mots by Patrick Watson shut up it´s not only because my angel is french, i swear 2. Angel Baby by Troye Sivan I´m not gonna lie, i didn´t associate them with this song too much until i realized the pronouns used for the person he´s talking about were he/him pronouns. Until then, i always thought the song was cute, but personally, it wasn´t the vibe i had for them in mind. now, after months listening to it, i fucking adore it, and i can't agree more about the fact that it´s THEIR song.

Gavin/Freelancer 1. die first by Nessa Barrett I always think about the fact that Gavin will outlive Freelancer, and thanks to that thought, i feel like this song somehow explains how Freelancer feels about it, even though they never say it. 2. sex by EDEN im inviting people to listen to this song because its amazing and personally, i associate this one with gavin the most, especially about how he felt for freelancer once he realized he had feelings for them.

If there's one thing you need to know about are the blueprint to me. Alright, this is my top ship, can't be beat. I like to think that this song is from Damien's perspective once they get together. In general, I think they bring out the best in each other and this song fits that.

LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN (/LH)— Avior is one of my favorite characters. Starlight is one of my favorite listeners. Their storyline is one of my favs overall. That being said, I also love a little pain and this song cuts me deep. It feels like it sums up where they're both at mentally when it comes to the meridian stuff.

Much more from Cutie's perspective, but I feel like this captures their inner turmoil and how that conflicts with their love for Geordi. I love them and their story in general, and I think this song shows a certain will for their relationship to work out while still highlighting how Cutie has their own stuff to work through.

This specific version. The almost quiet feel to it compared to the original draws you in, pulls you close. Gendering aside, it's even more fitting post-Inversion.

Reminds me of quiet nights and healing as you go, which I feel is a major part of their relationship development. To me, this gives off "I want to be there for you and help you when the darkness clouds your mind". Again, always a sucker for.

[Vega/Camelopardalis]

This is an ultra specific pick based entirely off of the fic "And That’s Why We Broke Up" by @dominimoonbeam (your writing is >>>). I get that it's canon divergence, I get that this ship ain't for everyone, I get that I'm 99% certain it'd never happen in canon. That doesn't change the fact that this is 100% what I think of when I think about this pairing in the context of this fic.

Beginning of the song reminds me of Elliott showing Sunshine dreams dreamscapes and stuff. That mixed with the friends to lovers vibes from the beginning of their relationship/dynamic and overall energy this song has made it fit for me.

This ship isn't for me and I debated adding it at all, but this is one of the first songs I thought to add for this. I think it absolutely fits from Alexis' perspective and, if you view her as a more complex character rather than one dimension, it makes you hurt in a "It is what it is but damn" kind of way. Especially the line "strangers to friends, friends into lovers, then strangers again". Like come on, it fucks me up to imagine that pain after everything that transpired between her and Sam.

Domestic/Living w/ the D.A.M.N. Polycule HCs

Gavin:

- teases everyone

- Has a shelf with various sex toys

- (Lasko is never put on dusting duty because he can never clean that shelf)

- He has a record player that he bought a few decades ago. It’s covered with press on gems and sparkly stickers. In other words, he bedazzled it

- He plays records whenever he cleans around the house

- Speaking of household chores, Gavin does most of them since he doesn’t exactly…have a job

- Doesn’t mean that he doesn’t pitch in w/ rent though, he helps around however he can

- After he officially got with the freelancer, he learned how to cook, and eventually learned how to use a microwave

- Freelancer taught him how to use an air fryer, and it has since become his most favored way to cook

- Freelancer also got him a pink apron with the words “Sexy bro” on it(Huxley insists that he and Gavin cook together so they can wear their matching aprons)

- Gavin also has a various assortment of stuffed animals that the others have gotten him over the holidays/as gifts

- His favorite is a little white stuffed cat that Huxley got him for Valentines Day(Gavin named him Cob)

- Since it is Gavin’s favorite, he always keeps it by his “designated pillow” whenever he makes the bed

- Gavin has on multiple occasions done everyone’s makeup. He has centuries worth of practice, and he loves playing dress up with the polycule

- On one occasion the freelancer was doing their daily morning routine and Gavin offered to pick out their outfit/do their makeup

- Mornings with Gavin are often spent with him staying in bed while everyone gets ready for the day

- He eventually trails after them, kissing their neck.(He actually does this because the feeling them against his skin reminds him they’re real)

Huxley:

- Huxley does all the yard work

- He plants flowers and bushes along your house

- He also does a lot of handy work, fixing a clogged drain, leaky faucets, you name it

- He loves Gavin’s cooking, he often times takes leftovers of it to practice.(His teammates know when it’s Gavin’s cooking as he won’t share any of his food with them like he normally insists on doing)

- He has some gym equipment so he can work out at home

- Everyone straight up drools over this hunk of a man as he works out, but hell never know cause he’s too distracted listening to music/podcasts

- Occasionally he’ll work out with freelancer or Damien and the others will lose their minds

- “You’re staring an awful lot at them firecracker~”

- “Says you Gav, you’re practically undressing them with your eyes”

- Huxley is the number one pillow though

- Whenever you guys have a movie night, everyone piles on top of him

- Huxley likes keeping little houseplants, and one year he got everyone little cacti for decoration

- Lasko felt awful because he ended up killing it by over watering it though

- Damien named his cacti Ferdinand, but has not and will never tell a soul about that

- Huxley will often pick up the others, giving Lasko and Freelancer piggy back rides often

- He just likes holding his partners

- Huxley’s a simple man. He sees his partner, he picks them up

- Huxley is absolutely not a morning person. Not because he’s grumpy, but because it’s so hard to wake him up. He could sleep through an earthquake

- Huxley does know how to braid hair, and not just simple ones, but extremely complicated and fancy braids too.

- If anyone in the polycule has long enough hair, he will braid it. Hell even put little flowers in it, to make it look fancy

Damien:

- Damien was actually the one who chose the house

- He spent hours researching and analyzing each option, he ended up finding the perfect one for everybody

- Damien and Gavin actually collaborated on the interior design(which is the reason there is a stripper pole in the lounge room)

- Freelancer tried to help, but was kicked out by Damien after they suggested they get an indoor slide

- Damien hates doing the dishes, there’s too much soap, his hands get wet, it’s gross

- Damien has on multiple occasions bribed the freelancer to do the dishes for him

- Gavin teases Damien so often to the point the group has had to replace many pieces of furniture/ clothes

- There is a suspicious amount of fireproof curtains in your house

- Damien has no sense of style despite his expertise in interior design

- He has like, one sweater, and like 7 red t shirts

- Freelancer and Gavin found this to be an absolute sin though, so they took him shopping and he now has slightly better fashion taste

- Lasko cuddles with Damien whenever he’s working on something because the warmth keeps Lasko from freezing(since Lasko normally runs fairly cold)

- Damien has a big appreciation for woodwork, so the desk in his office is a really fancy lacquer wood one

- Damien has a shelf entirely dedicated to showing off the presents his partners had gotten for him

- Once, the whole polycule got together and left little post it’s across his office

- Damien cried, and he kept every single one

- Damien also does calligraphy, so he does really fancy letters/ cards for the group

- Damien runs very hot so he didn’t have many blankets when he moved in with everyone, but he does have a large knitted blanket that Huxley’s moms had made him before the polycule lived together

- They were upset that he didn’t have many soft pillows and such, so Huxley’s moms made the blanket for Damien

Lasko:

- Lasko got a coffee machine for his birthday one year and makes the whole polycule coffee(or whatever drink you prefer)

- Lasko normally gets up the earliest so he makes everyone breakfast often

- The polycule has regular DND sessions. Lasko has notebooks dedicated to everyone’s dnd characters

- Lasko also keeps notebooks just jotting down things about the group, like favorite colors, what they order at restaurants etc

- He’s very forgetful so they’re a good reference when gift giving

- Lasko LOVES cuddling with his partners

- He will literally search the house when he’s not busy for someone to cuddle with

- Most often you’ll find him with the freelancer or Damien, but there’s plenty of cuddles with Huxley and Gavin too

- Despite his anxiety, Lasko is very confident with his partners, everyone constantly hyped him up. His insecurities practically vanish(around them, at least) because everyone reassures him consistently

- Pillow fort master

- Has made multiple pillow forts with Huxley, and Freelancer set up little fairy lights

- Everyone loves Laskos pillow forts

- Whenever Lasko is struggling with being human born/ his family, he tends to subconsciously drift towards freelancer

- The others can tell when it’s bothering him since he’ll be glued to the FL at the hip

- Freelancer is cooking? Lasko is in the kitchen. Freelancer is doing chores? Lasko is following them around the house. Freelancer is playing a game? Lasko sits in their lap

- But all in all the boys are always there with his favorite tea and his favorite book to read to him while he falls asleep in the freelancers lap

Everyone:

- In the house, they have a main bedroom that they all sleep in, covered with different aspects from each of them

- Huxley has some incense that he burns every once in a while

- Damien bought fireproof bedsheets/blankets

- Freelancer has a bunch of different trinkets on the nightstands

- Lasko has a very large fan that he has for when they sleep beside each other

- Gavin has his stuffed animals(along with any of the other groups stuffed animals, they’re all buddies, of course)

- thankfully the house that they all live in has enough rooms so that they can each have their own personal room too(it’s pretty big)

- Damien installed a pretty hefty security system along with Gavin setting up wards, so the house is pretty secure

- There’s a grand piano in the living room that Gavin knows how to play. Huxley has an acoustic guitar that he plays from time to time. Lasko has a saxophone he used to play back in high school. Damien has his old violin from his elementary school days

- The freelancer gets to hear Huxley and Gavin share their musical talents often, and the group will host mini concerts when they can convince Damien

- A very rare occurrence but still a treasured one nonetheless
