so for "you got the world on its knees (now make it beg)" part 2, I'm just having fun with evil zelink again. plot takes the back-burner and it's little scenes with outsider povs of either link or zelda (or both) destroying things/killing people/living their lives. there's just something so intriguing to me about villains/morally gray characters, which is why I love writing them and all of their intricacies. the "first" part of that story was just an excuse for me to imagine a ruthless zelda who gives no fucks and a link who'll do anything to keep her safe, and now that I have them established part 2 is gonna be just as crazy, though the only thing I've written of it is that assassin bit I shared in a wip wednesday back in February 😅

and then for "this world is cruel (but you are so beautiful)"...it's my eremika brainrot turned up to the max. the original title of the doc before I came up with a title was "seven times eren watched mikasa sleep and one time he woke her up", which is definitely going in the summary once I finish writing it eighty years from now, because it's an "eren is so fucked up I love him" character study disguised as a "mikasa is so pretty" fic. that bit with the ocean I shared on wip wednesday (I think a week ago??) was the first thing I wrote for it, but I have a little something else to share now that s4 part 2 is over and the brainrot is real. I..." he falters, licking his lips, and continues, "I couldn’t send Historia to hell and continue that endless slaughter, and I couldn’t destroy all of humanity outside the walls. So why not choose to live the four years I have left in peace and quiet, where nobody else is around, just the two of us?”

Mikasa is staring at him, blinking like she still doesn’t understand, like her blood will make her realize at any moment that this place isn’t-

“Mikasa,” he says, driving the nail into his own coffin, reaching as far as he can into her racing thoughts and implanting a memory���What am I to you? You’re special to me, Eren, more than anyone else. Run away with me, Eren, you only have four years left- “Wasn’t it you who asked me that?”

Mikasa sits, and Mikasa stares, and Eren waits for their long dream to shatter.

So it was a love story after all

One of the things that has been said over the years about Attack on Titan is that it had no romance. Isayama, was the general consensus, didn’t write a love story. AOT is not about ships. It’s about the nature of humanity, about hatred, about racism and the will to survive. It’s got its roots in Norse mythology, in real life events from the recent past and a more ancient past. But love and romance, so everyone thought, never had a place in this story.

How wrong we all were.

As it turns out, Eren’s motivation for everything he did was always his eternal and undying love for Mikasa.

Here’s where I stumble.

I never saw any convincing signs of Eremika in this story. I didn’t like their dynamics in the first place – Eren seemed annoyed with her a lot of the time, or at best consider her his adopted sister – and what really rubbed me the wrong way during the entirety of the story was Mikasa’s unhealthy obsession with Eren. Yes, he saved her, and yes, she’s an Ackerman, who are known for their intense bonding to their host (although this was a false assumption as well, according to Zeke), but her obsession was unhealthy and annoying to the point that I was unable to see her character development or her actions. 

Her looks didn’t make her special to me (contrary to a lot of male fans I encountered on social media and irl), to me she was just one of the characters, albeit a rather uninteresting one, so I wasn’t paying as much attention to her as they did – we all pay most attention to our favourites (which in my case are Eren and Levi and to a lesser extent Hanji and Connie), and as a result I may have been blind for any character development she had. 

Maybe it’s because I’m a woman and I feel like she’s one of those poorly written -“the man is my only goal in life” -women. Women who in a story solely seem to exist as an appendage to the main character and have no life or will of their own. Eren and Mikasa were, in my opinion, never equals in this story.

I know many people do see Mikasa’s character development, and do see meaningful interactions between Eren and her, but I’m sorry, I can’t see them unless I use a microscope, and I think this is the main flaw in Isayama’s writing: with all the twists and foreshadowing (which I so thoroughly enjoyed), some hints he left are way too small, while some of his red herrings are too in your face to ignore. 

It also feels like Isayama changed the ending too often and forgot about a lot of foreshadowings along the way.

This is why it feels that we’re left with so many plot holes – if you read closely, there aren’t many, but the red herrings were sprinkled so abundantly throughout the story that we may have expected way too much. The origins of the Ackermans, the importance of Historia’s’ baby and “who is the father”, Zeke’s presumed 4D chess and Eren’s 5D chess, the Underground cities as protection against the rumbling, what caused the titan forest trees to grow so large, what happened 854 years ago in the year 0, Reiner heavily being foreshadowed to become the new Helos, what is the Hallucigenia thing, where did it come from and how does it create titans, where did Ymir’s first titan come from if there was no one in PATHS yet to build it – we don’t need all these answers, but somehow Isayama made us believe there was more to this than there actually was, and that’s why many of us feel robbed of the ending we wanted or expected.

The Historia storyline bothers me the most. The dynamics between her and Eren were much more interesting and realistic than those between Mikasa and Eren. To begin with, they were equals. Whatever happened, they always had each other’s backs. So it made sense to me that Eren had at least something to do with her choice to have a baby, especially because he was so vocal against it. Instead, she too married a guy who hadn’t been particularly nice to her in the past and nothing of it had anything to do with Eren or his plans, or their shared memories of previous founders. 

Parallels between OG Ymir and Historia seemed abundant, but apparently, in the end, we were supposed to see an essential parallel between Ymir and Mikasa. Her Stockholm-syndrome-love for the first King Fritz felt like a sort of deus ex machina (and yes, if you reread chapter 122 there were hints, but so scarce, so small, that they didn’t seem to hold much significance).

I find the fact that OG Ymir needed to see someone break loose from the clutches of obsessive love in front of her own eyes to finally break loose from her own love for Fritz a bit far-fetched, especially since I consider that this is what the entire story hinges on.

(Now we do understand why Isayama had Levi so severely wounded in chapter 114 (the explosion). Had he been fit, then he had most likely been the Ackerman who killed Eren (because this has been foreshadowed too, multiple times) – and that wasn’t supposed to happen. It had to be Mikasa, or else OG Ymir wouldn’t understand how to break loose from her bond.

Another thing that bothered me was Eren’s sudden confession of his love for Mikasa to Armin. Like I said, I found the Eremika dynamics particularly uninteresting, so this confession felt very unnatural and far-fetched to me – but, again, this is what the entire story is built upon. 

He does what he does for them, specifically for her.

It’s actually kind of sad that some fan theories were better/more interesting than the canon ending, but Isayama is the creator of this story and we’ll have to accept his ending – I do know that the more I’ve been rereading the final chapter, the less it bothers me how the story wrapped up. I might even come to like it, and when I reread the full story (which I will certainly do, I LOVE this story) I’ll pay more attention to the small hints Isayama sprinkled between the lines for us about the love Eren felt for Mikasa, to see if his words in 139 will finally make sense to me.

For now, Eren’s motives don’t feel real or grounded. If he’d cried about the millions (billions?) of deaths he’d caused instead of about Mikasa, it would have made more sense in the grand scheme of things. He’d cry for the lives he’s taken, and for the realisation that it has all been in vain, because the ones he tried to protect so that they can live long and happy lives, will now be consumed with grief and survivor’s guilt.

Still, could any of this have gone differently?

No.

Eren was rightfully desperate when he, from behind the bars of his cell, yelled at Hanji if there was another way. Because there wasn’t.

The irony was that Eren always fought for freedom, but all his life he had been a slave to his own destiny. He was unable to change the future, and could only try to influence it. Or else, as Kruger said, this cycle would repeat itself, again and again.

All in all I feel there was more to this story than what we got, it could have gone deeper, more foreshadowing could have paid off instead of being a red herring.

A bittersweet ending

Levi surviving and finally getting closure with the knowledge that this was what all of his old SC friends died for, brought me to tears. And that smoke, was that the disappearing of his Ackerstrength? 

The frame where he travels the world with his carers/adopted children Gabi and Falco and his new best friend Onyankopon (friend? lover? just look at that glance they share) made me so happy that this is now the desktop background of my laptop.

(I hope they’ll travel to the AOT equivalent of the UK so he can finally enjoy some decent black tea)

To me, at least this part was sweet. The rest: bitter, even the fates of the Alliance members. This is a story with an open ending. We don’t know if they’ll succeed on their peace mission, we don’t know what the Yaegerists will accomplish, we don’t know what the rest of the world will do; all options are open again, but maybe that is the point. Eren never meant to end the hatred, there’s no fighting the nature of humans. Erwin knew this already: mankind won’t stop fighting among themselves until there’s only one person left. 

Eren’s goal was to end the titan era, and at the cost of his own life and that of 80% of humanity, he succeeded. 

Learning that Eren, who held freedom in such high regards, was a slave to his own destiny all along was painful and ironic, but in a way he lives on as a bird, finally free, finally Vogel aus dem Käfig.

Mikasa is neither a slave nor a dog. We know from chapter 130 that her feelings for Eren are not a result of some mystical ackerconnection. Instead, they’re tied to the trauma she suffered in her childhood, when her parents were brutally murdered in front of her. Eren wrapped a scarf around her, offering her a new home, and she loves him for that. Having a home, a family, is her ultimate dream, and Eren embodies it. She is not going to give up on him so easily.

Mikasa joined the Alliance believing she could save humanity and bring Eren back home. She got so much hate when she voiced that wish to Annie (chapter 132). And yet, when Armin said that he wanted to talk to Eren, that he still believed the world they planned on seeing together was out there (chapter 131), fans loved it.

Mikasa got hate when she looked heartbroken over the fact that they would have to kill Eren (chapter 136). And yet, she DID accept it, she let Jean and Reiner go, knowing they’d try to blow up Eren’s neck. You may say that she should be more…. hmm stoic…. about Eren’s death after everything he has done. And yet, I don’t see Jean getting hate for crying in chapter 137, when he detonated the bomb.

Mikasa gets hate for pursuing her dream until the very last second. And yet, Erwin, who did the same thing and was similarly conflicted, is the ultimate GOAT in the fandom.

I don’t know if it’s misogyny or the fact that the fandom is just used to interpreting Mikasa’s connection to Eren as unhealthy, but this whole discourse is ugly. The other (male) characters can chase their dreams or have conflicting feelings about Eren, but in Mikasa’s case, it’s a detriment to her characterization.

Outside the Mikasa stan bubble, calling her “obsessed” or “too attached” is a norm. I recently saw a tweet summarizing eremika’s relationship with a picture of an angry Eren asking her to stop annoying him, despite their bond developing well past the squabbles they had in the Trost arc. It’s a common assumption that she follows Eren because he inspires her, but Eren is inspired by Armin. I believe it’s a pretty serious misreading of the EMA bond.

Eren is inspired by the idea of exterminating the titans. He hates them for two reasons; one, he wants revenge for destroying their home (that he links to Mikasa); two, they’re keeping him from the outside world (that he links to Armin). While Eren’s dreams are connected to Mikasa’s dream of home and Armin’s dream of the ocean, they are also marred by violence. In the end, that violence is what puts Eren at odds with his friends.

Eremika’s goals differ in a very obvious way. If Eren tries to fight titans, his life will be in danger, and Mikasa may lose her home again. She’s strong enough to protect him, so she does, for selfish reasons. This creates a friction in their relationship, because she often ackerhandles him, and he’s jealous of her abilities. They move past this conflict by the end of the Uprising arc. (A different conflict takes its place, but that’s for another post.) In contrast, Armin just ignores Eren’s violence. Their dreams lead them in the same direction, and getting rid of the titans is the priority, so Armin is not inclined to think about the implications of Eren’s mindset. The discrepancy in eremin’s bond becomes apparent when they reach the ocean; while Armin sees its beauty, Eren talks about the enemies on the other side of it.

There is a lot (A LOT) more to say about EMA and their soulmate energy. I just wrote down the basics, venting my frustrations about the fandom’s unfair treatment of Mikasa. I know some of it is fueled by ship wars, but really, the ill-willed hate she gets reached comically absurd levels.

The World The Girl Saw

I should clarify that this takes place after ch 137 and just a possibility of what can happen with the eremika reunion, and how the scarf wrapping scene may happen. 

A very late request. 

For the world the girl saw was always embedded in so much cruelty that she blinded herself from it and chose to see the beauty it so scarcely offered.

It was beauty, the thing she got lost inside of every time she dared look at him. It was his loud confidence, his hastened bravery, the waning crescent of the reassuring smile he wore when it all seemed to go to waste.

When did the beauty in those green-gray eyes of the boy who saved her become cruel and mocking towards her?

When did his frown deepen into the depths of blinding anger? When did his screams become filled with a despair and anguish that scared away any traces of laughter. When was it that his bright eyes became empty shells that looked straight towards a path he refused to take himself out of?

She can’t lie to herself anymore and she sees the truth as clear as day. No more is she seeing him through the rose colored tinted glasses she found refuge in.

Blood. The ruddiest of reds were now splattered over her eyes screaming to her that she was wrong. She was wrong and so was he.

Both fools, who foolishly doomed themselves towards something sinister they unknowingly relinquished their control over to.

Still… she wants to be right about how she believed in him. She holds hope inside her. The hope that no matter how bitter and harsh the cold can be; warmth will inevitably take over and thaw away the snow to reveal a quiet bed of spring flowers.  

Even now as the world lays to waste, she yearns to see him once more.

Screams, tears, the smoke of the giants that walked with the sole purpose to destroy, now remain unmoving. The chase to save the world is now over, all that’s left is to retrieve the one who chose violence over and over again.  

Eren.

Mikasa shivers as the eerie silence the world has enveloped her in, becomes heavy with what is now lost. She wants to run away and never look back to what has just transpired, yet she remains. She waits and she holds her feelings at her throat knowing that this isn’t the time to cry.

Not yet, she thinks.

“Eren…” Mikasa mutters to the rising smoke that slowly disperses around them.

For a fleeting second she foolishly believes she can find him and take him home, just how she has always wanted to. Yet, a foolish second it will remain, because there is no undoing what he’s done.

There’s no way he can atone for the pain he’s inflicted upon the world.

What has he done? She repeats for the hundredth time since this ordeal has begun.

It’s too late to wonder what could have happened if she had answered differently. If only she had chosen another path. If only he had led her towards that path… maybe things would be different, and not the dregs of an impossible dream.

She misses the boy he once was, but she realizes that who she misses is a ghost that can only haunt her mind. A ghost who will never return to stand before her, no matter how much she begs and follows the phantom that now inhabits his body.

He was always screaming at the world, so angry, so hurt, holding on to a pain that was not his, but for one reason or another, anger became him. He said goodbye in the cruelest way, slowly and present before her, until he was no longer there.

She doesn’t want to blame herself, she doesn’t want to stay up all night asking herself where it was that she lost him… or maybe she never really had him to begin with. There was always a pull coming from his end, and no matter how hard she held on, he always slipped out of her grasp.

“He’s right here!”

Her chest thumps, not knowing who it is that shouts declaring that they found him. She runs. She runs to the voice, she runs towards the idea that she’ll see him again. She runs. She always runs.  

She runs until she is met with the wasted body of the person who held her stars and moon. Looking at him is harder than thinking about him, because what is it that he has become?

She cries. She cries and falls to her knees as she realizes he’s holding on to his last breath. He’s ready to let go, she knows it, but she needs him to know about all the unspoken words she helplessly clung on to. She needs him to realize that no matter how far he strayed, she was going to bring him back once more.

“Eren…” she whimpers.

She feels him shift and he slowly opens his eyes to look up at her. He doesn’t speak, not a word is uttered.

Will this really be their last goodbye?

She wants to hold on to him, but there’s not much to hold in the state he’s in.

“Eren,” she says again, closing her eyes and scrunching her face as the tears continue to fall.

“M-Mikasa…” he breathes.  

She looks at him and he looks at her, pain filling the eyes that she once thought could hold the sun.

She realizes that her and Eren were always meant to say goodbye. A forever couldn’t be an always for them because their destiny never meant for that to happen. Nevertheless, for one reason or another they were always meant to be a part of each other’s life.

He opens his mouth to speak, but he’s too weak, the toll from having turned into a huge monster carving the result onto his weary body.

She kneels before him, resisting the urge to fall and cry out to him for all the pain he made her feel. What can she tell him really? It’s so loud inside her head with all the words she wants to say, but what can she say when there is nothing to do anymore.

Cruel world , she thinks. What a cruel world she was born into, a world where she fought with blood and tears for his well being, for it to just dissipate into smoke and ashes.

She shakes her head, telling herself that it wasn’t only him she fought for. She thinks of all the lives they just finished saving and has saved before, and she thinks of the many other people she shares beautiful memories with.  

Her blinks and tears fall, and her smile grows as she tenderly caresses his face, “Eren…” she softly whispers.

She does this, ignoring the way their friends fill the background with words of “What’s happening?” and “Mikasa! Eren!” being screamed at them in anguish.

She pays them no attention and allows herself to be taken wherever it is Eren wants to take her. And before she knows it, she’s not on the outside world anymore.  

Sand. Lots of sand. Paths.

A world of mystery, a world of remembrance, a world that’s etched in her DNA and that connects everything and everyone at one passing path. She could question how they got here, but she doesn’t, instead she smiles as Eren sits before her with his body fully formed.

Sand slips in between her fingertips as she pats the sand below her. She’s too tired to ask what is happening, and so she just lets herself be there in the moment with him.

Nevertheless, she breathes a tiny gasp as she looks down at the sand below her as it slowly turns into a bed of flowers. Purple, blue-violet petals shimmer underneath the warm tendrils of sun rays, blanketing them in a familiarity that’s always existed between them.

Even though she stood in the grip of foreign soil a few moments ago, the breeze that caresses her skin is the same one that kissed her hair in the softest of ways when she was a young girl staring down at the sleeping form of a young Eren.

She’s been here before, of course she has. The place she called home, the boy who became just that. They were here together before.

She has visited this moment in her dreams ever since the day it happened. She doesn’t realize how or when this happens, but they are under the tree. The tree she once roused him from.

Her heart aches too much for her to try to understand what’s happening, nevertheless, she’s happy that this is where they find themselves. Since she always wanted to show Eren a room of flowers after the bloodthirsty war he’s refused to return from, she’s happy to be here with him.  

“Eren…” her soft voice breaks through the murmur of the rustling grass listening quietly to what they are about to say.

There’s not much time, she can feel this in the air, she can see it in his eyes.

Time. That’s all she wanted to have with him. Nevertheless, that seems to be coming to an end, as she can picture every grain of sand inside an hourglass making its way through the narrow opening, letting her know that it’s running away, and that no matter how fast she runs, she won’t catch up. It’s all coming to an end.

“M-Mikasa,” he rasps like the broken pieces of glass that’s now impossible to piece back together.

The top of his eyelids are revealed as a tiny smile paints his face as his attention is captured by the red material she limply clutches in the folds of her hand.

The scarf.

All she feels is the material slipping from her grasp as her heart flutters, jumps, skips, stops, ceases to exist , all at the same time.

She follows his movement with her tear filled eyes as he moves to get the fabric that tied them together since the first time they met.

His eyes glisten with his own tears, which slowly build at the base of his lid, dipping every lash in a pool of his heartache.

He remembers and so does she. A promise that was thought to be left forgotten in the heaping ashes of a repressed ember that was never kindled into fire.

He holds the scarf like it could easily break, like the shattered promise he failed to keep from the first time he told her he’d wrap it over and over again all those years ago.  

When the softness of his knuckle hovers over the scarred tissue of her cheek, do the echoes of a wound made ages ago come to life. Skin on skin, the ghost of a battered dream turning into reality before the girl whose world was a hellish nightmare became blanketed by the charm of a incandscendent boy.

“I’ll wrap you up in it,” he says as he extends the fabric and settles it around her neck, “Over and over again… forever.”

She feels the heat of his breath against her face as his fingertips slowly move to trace the scarf around the nape of her neck.

They both shed tears as he wraps the red material around her once, then twice, until she can feel the snug warmth from his action.  

“I don’t have much time,” he says.

She purses her lips to stop her wail from escaping her because she can’t believe what it’s all come to. He’s leaving her once more, and this time she can’t follow.

All she wanted was for him to come back home, but the damage is done.

“Sorry.”

“E-Eren…” she manages to say.

She tells him the only thing she’s been able to tell him, “Thank you… thank you, for wrapping this scarf around me.”

He smiles at her and it hurts her to see his smile.

It hurts him too. She was always there for her and he can’t understand why it was him who hurt her the most, when she loved him the most. Yet, he smiles and cries and he wonders how he couldn’t understand her love before.

“I love you.”

They don’t know who says it first, but the words hang in the air for a lingering moment, and a gust of wind blows the three syllables away from them, to be carried to the leaves and the surrounding nature around them.

A kiss.

Lip on lip, moving gently against one another. So gentle, so chaste, so filled with longing and everything that can be yearned inside the touch of two beings who held on until they couldn’t anymore.

For an evanescent moment in between the kiss… a lifetime of what could’ve been flickers in their minds. Not memories of the past or present, but memories of a normal life and what could’ve been between them, settling in the back of their minds like wraiths haunting their choices and paths.

She holds on to him, and he holds on to her. Palms on each cheek grasping in an accepted desperation that they must let go.

Tight, tight … so tight they hold on, until she’s the only one with a grip on his frame.

He looks so at peace , she ponders, as she carefully moves him to settle against the tree’s trunk and she settles a shaky hand atop her scarf. She smiles at him with a single tear drop running down her scar.

“See you later, Eren,” Mikasa quietly whispers to him.  

And so, haunted memories will soon become cherished remnants of the boy Eren once was. He’s already gone. She realizes this as she runs a smooth hand over his face.

A mixture of thanks and regret for what could have been.

They both lived the lives they chose to live, and the cruelty became one with the beauty in hopes that with time it could co-exist.

Even in the end loving one another was not a losing game, because she won. A razor sharp knife cutting that tattered string loose, and she’s free.

Because what is freedom to a person who readily shackled themselves to the rusted chains of liberty only to throw the key away. The toil within Eren’s mind refused to see that freedom could readily be held within the palm of a girl’s hand.  

Nevertheless, the girl will live with pride and with a happiness that will be uprooted from the hope that as long as humanity will live on, so will she… so will he . She smiles until the tears stop falling. And as long as she lives, the memory of him will never die and live on in the corner of her heart that will forever hold a place for him.  

Nonetheless, there’s a twinkle of hope lighting the expanse of the town they once called home. Where once a wall met the end of the grassy flowering field, it now meets the expanse of the sunset, setting them free so they can perhaps start once more.

Now I became selfish and I hope the shard is showing Hanji being saved by Kiyomi or something. She go the worst treatment and if Isayama was afraid of the backslash like you said why make it even worse with those parallels with eremika? Is he preparing the Fandom for another levihan moment? I'm tired of EVERYONE surviving but her, Kiyomi's kindness really??? And Onyankopon, while I don't hate him, he survived a plane crash and he doesn't add much yet he is there for being the editor's favorite, Yelena is there after all she did and she adds even less, and the people titanized will revert to human (or at the very least Isayama's favorites will).

Oh anonie, you and me both my friend, you and me both 😔 Beware, a long rant-ish meta is ahead of you lol

I have absolutely no fucking idea why Yams decided to treat Hanjo like shit. You know, after a long time of denying her death, I was starting to accept it, because she was finally free, free of the burden and pain and finally reunited with the people she missed and longed for the most. But then Yams decided to slap us all in the faces saying there's no happy & peaceful afterlife in snk and Hanjo was probs only hallucinating because of her 4 years long depression? Well then, fuck you Yams! What was that even for? Isayama never backed off of showing us the horrors of death in snk, no matter how important the characters and how brutal their deaths really were. Still, he never showed us Hanji's actual death or dead body. He kept it misterious and his vague answers only made it worse. So it's only natural for us to expect a plot twist, right? That's the reason all of us gathered various hints in the manga, anime and his interviews. And lemme tell you, these theories are far more logical, better explained and have less plot holes than the entire final arc smh (yes I'm salty, fight me lol)

I hate to admit it, my inner self is still in denial and fighting, but Hanjo ain't coming back folks. We won't get any background story and the misterious shard will never be explained to us either. Yams had more than enough time to bring Hanjo back, if he truly wanted to. But he didn't. And now with only one chapter and so many unanswered questions left, there's no time for Hange's return. Why would he even do that anyways? Hanjo isn't important to him or to the story anymore. To us she is, always was and always will be ❤️ You know, I'm so fucking desperate to see her again, I'll even take one last panel of Levi remembering her, just like in ch136. Yams just let us see Hanjo one more fucking time 🙏🏻 I need to say my proper goodbyes to my one&only comfort character, who's influenced my life like no one else ever did ❤️

Back to Levihan (I don't think I can answer an ask without my biased and trashy shipper ass butting in lmfao): the question why Yams confirmed Levihan as canon if he didn't intend to bring Hange back and reunite her with Levi to make us him happy again? Well, isn't it obvious? This man is the devil incarnate. THIS MAN HAS NO FUCKING CHILLS lmfao JK y'all before someone declares war on me and my blog haha Well anonie, I feel like Yams really wanted to confirm his initially planned ships as canon, before the manga ends. And he chose the safest way possible. Easy as that. Also he said he is going for a bittersweet ending and what's more tragic (in this literal hell) than separating lovers, ergo Eremika and Levihan.

Now to something else, that's been bothering me for a while now and I'll use your ask anonie to share my thoughts with the world even though nobody asked lmao tbh I'm a bit disappointed with Armin. I love him, I really do. He's my precious cinnamon roll and my fave 104th kiddo. But honestly, I was expecting a bit more of the alleged "hero who will safe humanity". In fact, I'm sure Hanjo only died for Armin to become the new commander. That's it. That was the reason she had to die. Yams glossed over her to make Armin shine. But in fact, Levi's the one who's giving orders ever since Hange has left them. I might me salty, but I really hope the talk with Zeke (and probs Ymir as well, we still might have a chance to see the dialog that made Ymir change her mind) and his titan nuke weren't the only things he did as "humanity's hero" in this final arc. For some people this might me enough, for me it isn't. It wasn't worth Hange's sacrifice. Also what made me really sad was Armin himself glossing over Hanjo when he remembered Erwin Danchou, but not her. Like she didn't just pass away an hour ago to save their pathetic asses. Ugh this is making me hella mad, ngl. Hanjo didn't deserve this treatment! She gave her all for this! To save the alliance, to "pay the price" for her "sins" as the SC commander and to save humanity. I can't deal with how all of them and the fandom apparently forgot about that.

Now on to "Kiyomi's kindness" lol I wasn't really mad at Gabi for saying this as most of the fandom was. I won't go into detail why she isn't really a rationally thinking character (yo guys, you do remember she's a 12 year old kid, right?), but it's a fact that she didn't care for Hange enough to mention her. I mean, why would she? She barely even knew her. Also we don't really know what's gonna happen with Yelena, Kiyomi and her delegation. I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, but I feel like Kiyomi accepted her death with saying "that's not enough atonement for what I did anyway". I mean they don't know if the alliance will win (they probably think they won't) and they're in the middle of literally nowhere. So I feel like Gabi said that because Kiyomi sacrificed herself (and the others on that ship) willingly, for Gabi, Falco and Annie getting a little chance of surviving and helping the alliance. But I get the rage of the fandom. Especially because no one, except for Levi, remembered Hange after her noble sacrifice.

As for Yelena and Onyankopon, there obviously has to be someone from outside of Paradis to survive the rumbling, otherwise it wouldn't make a lot of sense, I guess. I like Onyankopon a hecking lot ❤️ precious boi was literally crying for Hanjo 😭 Yelena on the other hand deserves what she got. Death would be too easy and kind for her tbh. She has to live with the consequences, just like Kiyomi, so I'm actually glad they survived. So my guess is, it's not really about who's Yams' favorite and what these people are contributing to the story, but it's rather about a logical ending and a good conclusion of the story.

I agree with you about the ones who have been titanized. They'll for sure revert back to humans. It's not really Yams' style to kill of an important character like Gabi, whose character development he's been forcing on us for quite a while now lol. I'm pretty positive about an ending with the titan curse being broken and bringing the titanized people back to human beings (probs also the millions of colossal titans?). It's only natural for Yams to end the story with the titan curse being lifted. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to end his story at this point. But let's not forget what a big ass troll Yams is lmao you never really know what he's up to, so let's prepare for the unimaginable lmfao

I'll probably never forgive Isayama for what he did to Hange, his best written character, how he completely ruined her and threw her away as disposable, just to make other characters "shine". HER DEATH WAS POINTLESS AND IT DID NOT FUCKING CHANGE ANYTHING! That's the harsh truth y'all. Yams betrayed Hanjo and us AND FOR WHAT?

Thank you for being a true Armin Stan and understanding why some of us is upset. I’ve seen many other people who claim to be Armins fans disrespect us and tell us our feelings are invalid. So thank you for being kind. Also with one last chapter left, what do you think will happen?

People have different views on things. I’m sure it’s possible to love Armin but still not get as upset about this (although I find it difficult to understand myself). The fact that the AU didn’t happen, could be a factor that makes some go “well, thankfully it’s not what happened so why cry over it”; or maybe they don’t believe it (re: like me, wondering whether this is a falsehood by Eren for one reason or another). Or maybe they love Eren and/or Mikasa so much they aren’t able to fault them. Or maybe they ship eremika so their “loss” of Armin being hurt is being paid for with a happy(?) outcome? Or they’re just casual fans who don’t dive as deeply into the emotion of any of the characters (meaning an alternative universe seems so far removed from their field of caring).

I don’t know. What I’m trying to say, though, is that there’s not necessarily only ONE correct way to be an Armin fan. And other people don’t owe us their emotions. If we want them to respect our reaction, we need to respect their. Sure, I will wonder how much they really care about him if they - well, don’t care - but I’m not going to go out of my way to butt in and tell them I’m side-eyeing them. And on their end, they really should refrain from saying our feelings are invalid.

We’ve got to remember, being an Armin fan has been a bit of an “outsider” position in this fandom. Erwin fans hated us for years after the serumbowl, Bertolt fans hated us for years after the serum bowl, eruri, reibert, veterans and Marley fans. Eremin was an eyesore for eremikas (disclaimer, I’m talking generally, each one of you know with yourselves if this means you too or not) and since Eren was part of their ship, that only left Armin to detest.

... all this to say, bashing on Armin and his fans has always been a way to fit in with the “it” crowd of the snk fandom and I’ve seen people who claim to be Armin fans do it for years. Now, chapter 138 brought with it yet another wave of Armin controversy. And so, his fans are yet again faced with the dilemma of either standing by him - proclaiming themselves part of the undesirables - or throw shit at his fans to align with the cool kids yet again. So... perhaps that’s part of what we’re seeing here and maybe some of the ones throwing nasty words our way actually agree with us, only they prioritized differently and want to stay out of trouble with the bigger “side”. Which is fine. But I have my opinions about it.

As for the last chapter, oh boy I have no idea lol. Somebody brought up a good point - which I’d love to see explored, had there been more chapters left. Ymir (founder) appears in the background here and there throughout the battle. Not only that, but she seemed to be smiling in the last panel of 138. So... is there a pattern here? Is her appearance significant? Is she smiling because things are going according to plan? It would be kinda interesting if it turned out she was orchestrating a bigger plot here... But with only one chapter left, I kinda just want the curse to be lifted somehow and for loose threads to get tied. I’m assuming we’ll have an epilogue-sort of overview of what happens after the war. How Marley/Eldia/world relations have changed, how the cast spends their days, etc. or, god forbid, there’s a twist and everythin was according to Eren’s plan, everyone dies last second and he goes to hold a baby to call it free. Oh boy I don’t know. I’m just going to hold my breath and hope Armin makes it through. We’re so close, anon. So close. Please let him make it 🙏

My thoughts on 139 as an Ereri shipper

Buckle up for a long read and some unpopular opinions haha. Feel free to add on/ correct me but this is only how I feel so take it with a pinch of salt, I'm not asking anyone to change how they feel because we're all feeling some feels right now and your grief is valid. I just really wanna talk about the chapter before I go back to my Yaoi ship. (Forgive my grammar errors and all I wrote this at 5am and I'll probably come back and fix the spelling and stuff later today)

Thoughts on ch 139:

Well... here we are guys. The last chapter, it's been one hell of a ride and even though I have only been a part of the community for three years I'm still sad it ended. (Not to mention it finished 4 days before my birthday but that's just an extra oof) I keep seeing a lot of Mikasa hate and even though I used to despise her this chapter really got me thinking and damn, she's definitely one of the strongest characters (second to Levi at least in terms of resolve but hey I'm biased lol) she killed the person she loved, who pushed her away time and time again, and until the very end wanted to save him yet she was the one who ended it all. I doubt I could do that if my girlfriend was doing something similar... but I guess most people are like that. I admit, when I read the chapter at work I began crying in the break room, not because the ending caught me off guard, it was about what I was expecting, but I'm still sad Eren died. All this stuff was foreshadowed through especially the last few chapters and I kind of hopped into the manga around when Zeke blew Levi up, and even then... I feel like I knew this would be how it turned out some time last year? It was mostly predictable since this story, from it's inception, has done nothing but break the shonen stereotype time and time again and this was just the kind of ending that would shatter the mould and make it worthy of that moniker. Now am I happy that Eremika is canon? Not really, in fact not at all I'm mad. Although tbh it's not that I really expected a same sex, age gap relationship to be canon in mainstream manga, but this is what fan fiction is made for right? Besides as much as this manga has challenged or straight up ignored it's very obvious what the intended ship was going to be from the start. Even still the confession at the end by Eren is honestly OOC from most of everything else he's said/done and feels forced but, 🤷🏻‍♀️ like... the ending would have been better if Eren's feelings stayed vague so we could come to our own conclusion. If I had my way I'd have Eren confessing to Levi and they'd run off to live in secret but again... that isn't how it ended and I'm accepting that even if I don't like it. (Plus I can read/write a fanfic of a 'better' ending to make myself feel better) but I'm glad I stuck around for such a bitter sweet end.

Eren's character:

Now I love Eren as much as anyone else, but I see lots of people crying "character assassination" and I feel this personally isnt true at least not completely. We're all grieving right now and I know he was so cute and lovable at the start (hell in a way he still is) but this has always been his character. He is the one who most desperately yearns for freedom because feels trapped by his fate more than anyone else. The line "I felt like I had to and I let myself get caught up in the flow" is proof he *knows* he isn't free despite his father's reassurance, and his own repetition of the phrase. There's a common phenomenon with mantras or the practice of repeating something over and over in your head, the more you say it, *the less you believe it* and IMHO Eren never really felt free from the start. He knew his fate was sealed and he probably could have, no... *should* have acted differently yet he himself couldn't change what fate had in store. He just kept moving forward for no other reason than he wanted to save Mikasa, Armin, and his people. He (may have?) sacrificed Carla, not to serve as motivation, but so that he could save Armin later on by eating the Colossal titan instead of burning to death. It must have been a heart wrenching choice to make but he cares for his friends more than anyone else. He gave them a fighting chance and his death gave the alliance a good name so the world (or the 20% left of it) would see they aren't the same as him. Of course I'm thinking, "What if he had Dina free Carla or just let her eat Bert I mean Grisha probably would have passed on the Attack titan to Eren even if Carla had lived," but Armin very well could've died in another way or things could've turned out so much worse for everyone else. But even if Eren hates his choice I think something to note here is he doesn't seem to regret it, taking some of Levi's advice with him to the grave (quite literally) Plus you guys have to remember he died at 19 years old, that is *young* and I may only be a few years older but 18-21 is a huge period of change and you wont make the best choices, he's dealing with all that on top of the memories of the other titan holders, and the founding titan which I think really messed with him more than anything. He even says he only wants to live 10 more years ;-; the poor thing deserved a full life too even if his perception of time is warped and he never got a chance to become an adult.

The aftermath:

Well, everyone seems happy for the most part which is great! The one thing that I didn't expect was for the ending to be bitter sweet rather than total annihilation. Historia really does seem... fuck it I don't know and this is the part that bugs me most is she never really got the ending she deserved and felt kinda... forgotten? It's hard to tell but I think she ended up loving her child in the end... maybe... she's smiling while holding her... right? Levi is out beyond the walls and he may be wheelchair bound and half blind but he's still alive! Now this is honestly my saving grace here I mean god imagine him surviving a literal bomb only to die such a lame and pointless death in the last chapter. My boy made it through everything though and he's still got them dad vibes with Gabi and Falco which is kinds sweet... but I still hate Gabi. I still really hate Gabi, but it's nice to see that they're all somewhat okay. (Plus okay... Eren Canonically being reborn as a bird is kinda hilarious yet fitting since he got his freedom... Parasitic Jaeger haha good one Isayama.) Who knows if the war will ever end, heck Isayama himself said this is only the begining and while the fight goes on they have a chance thanks to Eren sacrificing himself the way he did. He could've made so many other choices and I don't know what could've/would've been better. Maybe Isayama knows but time travel and altering the past opens a whole ass can of worms that is just... like the killing your grandpa paradox kinda thing and if I were writing this story I wouldn't wanna try and deal with that either, especially after writing one story for eleven years.

Ending theory for SNK

                             All this was just a repetitive dream.

At the beginning of the show, we see Eren asleep near a tree with Mikasa trying to wake him up. In the snippets of his dream, we see Mikasa saying "See you later, Eren". But Mikasa has no interest in saying "See you later" because she is there to wake him up and not on a goodbye sequence. It so happens that the dialogue bubble for "See you later, Eren" is not directly attached to Mikasa. There are two possibilities:

a) Eren, with his eyes half open, sees Mikasa but he hears in the depths of his dream someone say "See you later, Eren" but it is not necessarily Mikasa.

b) It is indeed the Mikasa of his dream who tells him "See you later Eren" and not the Mikasa who wakes him up.

The first theory ends by itself because if we focus on Mikasa that appears in Eren's dream panel, Mikasa's hair is shorter. This is also the first reflection that Eren says to Mikasa when he is awake, which leaves Mikasa totally astonished. Like, "What's he talking about?"

Could Eren's reflection on Mikasa's hair be related to her last words before a possible return to the past? Eren doesn't seem to remember his dream, but could have remembered the difference between the hair lengths of the two different Mikasa without really realizing it, which is again a little wink to Eremika’s stans.

Moreover in this dream in which he wakes up in tears, where he sees Mikasa telling him "See you later, Eren" should this imply that the end of Eren's dream follows on from Mikasa's death and that the latter before dying doesn't say "Farewell" but "See you later" as if this should imply that Mikasa was going to wait for Eren wisely in the afterlife? Death is not the end of their relationship, it will continue in the afterlife, like soulmates.

In any case, it is impossible for him to answer Mikasa when she asks him why he is crying because he pretends not to remember his dream and therefore also the reason why he is crying. Free to our imagination.

This theory could be just a dream that Eren had that could be conceived as a kind of alternate universe in which Eren and his friends repeat the story before reaching an end that suits them, for example: without the death of thousands of people or the death of the protagonists of the show. So it would be like a kind of space-time loop. History repeating itself again and again until Eren as the original titan finds the solution to the problem and saves humanity while limiting the damage.

Moreover Eren, as the original titan, is able to see the past, present and future, and he also has the ability to travel through the memories of the former owners of the original titan. All are linked by The Path.

This whole story seems like a jigsaw puzzle to put together over several lifetimes. If Eren does not remember his childhood dream, it may be because he had not yet inherited the powers of the titan from his father since it is canon that at that time of the manga, Grisha Jaeger was still alive. Eren has to repeat his existence over several lives in order to put the pieces together, little by little. When one life ends, another begins again for Eren. Maybe just after 13 years of having the powers, or maybe before that with a random death.

To finish with these hypotheses and the associated questions, it seemed important to us to return to the sixth and eighth pages of chapter 54, when Historia dreams of her meetings with her great half-sister who erased her memory after each of her visits. After this dream - which could also be a sharing of memories due to the inherited titan - Historia unfortunately does not manage to consciously remember these events... which reminds us of Eren's situation in the first chapter. Eren who, moreover, also refers to this kind of situation when Historia wakes up.

I thought about this last night at like 3am and thought it was adorable ❤️❤️❤️" So, I think I died after writing this. Way too cute of an idea. Don't come for me when you get a fluff induced heart attack. Sorry it took me a while to write, but I hope you all enjoy the sweetest couple ev as parents 😭❤️ Not all of the recent crazy shit in the canon-verse has transpired in this case.

It's been well over a year since the titans were successfully eradicated and there are many towns filled with homes that must be repaired. Levi has some very big shoes to fill after assuming Erwin's position as commander of The Su͏r͏vey Corps. Many of his talented soldiers have received some well deserved promotions such as Eren and Jean, who are now squad captains that lead their own soldiers to be just as fierce as themselves. Quite a few of them have joined the large group that gathered to help rebuild Connie's old village and wonderful things were done by the military in the hopes of helping humanity to start over. Nobody understands that desire better than Eren, who managed to mend the fragile relationship with his childhood friend Mikasa after the shifters were cured a few years back. They became inseparable immediately and have been an item for almost two years now, so it certainly wasn't long until a bed was added to the mix. And with the titans finally gone, everyone is feeling much more comfortable bringing children into the world again. The day that her pregnancy was discovered, they both agreed that one would always stay behind whenever expeditions arise in the off chance something horrific happens that would leave their baby son, Hannes, without his adoring parents. That was also the day Eren risked his life by suggesting a much deserved early retirement, since it's no longer necessary for her to be tethered at his hip. Mikasa's reaction was a gamble given her unpredictable pregnancy hormones at the time, though he truly wasn't surprised when she so passionately insisted that being soldiers has already made them good parents. His heart shattered as he watched tears stream down her face and slight confusion overcome her because something that was once so simple to control has now turned almost impossible for the moment. It was very obvious to the young man that she felt unsure as to why this reaction was so powerful at all. They both know that on any other occasion when trying to explain how much she loves what they do, especially now that they're really getting the chance to help others, wouldn't have made her break down. He'd conceded immediately of course, heartbroken and kicking himself extra hard for making her cry even though his instincts scream to protect her and their, at the time, unborn baby. After growing up together, living through a literal hell, and now that his shifting ability is cured, Eren fully intends to live out the rest of his days with this incredible woman.

Horse hooves gallop through an expansive valley before the old, abandoned castle that The Survey Corps now call home. They have been gone for three days now, so everyone felt a wave of relief and some even laughed with excitement. But the young father can only focus his attention on the barn visible in the distance and push his steed to gallop even harder. Thoughts of finally getting to hold Mikasa and their baby have been pleasantly clouding his mind since he kissed her goodbye a few days earlier, when they smiled as they conversed about how amazing this little boy is already because even the great Commander Levi can be seen frequently showing some degree of amusement since his birth. Uncle Armin is naturally Hannes's Godfather and seems to get a great amount of good from him as well. Who wouldn't love to see the toothless grin that he's recently discovered is possible to make, or look into those piercing little emeralds? This baby has been a gift to them all and with some other soldiers finally beginning to settle down, more tiny tots are sure to follow. Somehow while in casual conversation with comrades a few days earlier, the question was asked if he and Mikasa have considered adding another baby to their sweet little family. His immediate reaction was to smile and say no, that they haven't even thought about having a second child yet since she just had Hannes only three months ago. It was a lot to get used to at first that’s for sure, but the couple would absolutely die for their son and love him more than life itself.

The horses trotted up to the barn in unison as their hooves crunch through dried up leaves scattered on the autumn ground. Eren smiles as he swiftly dismounts his horse and allows his very fatigued mind to linger that crazy schedule the baby has his girl on. It's very strict, and his own body woke him up consistently while he was gone because he's so used to the way their old bed frame sometimes creaks when she attempts to sneak out of his arms to nurse their son, that he actually longs to hear it again. He lives for those heartwarming moments when she crawls back in bed afterwards and cuddles into him so she rests her cheek on his chest, because then he gets to feel how quickly she drifts off to sleep with those soft breaths on his neck. Fuck, I missed them so much. Eren smiles to himself as he gathers his tack with one arm and locks his horse in its stall, then half runs into the tack room to put everything away. He weaves himself through that hoard of soldiers and books it from the barn, completely ignoring Armin's friendly greeting from where he sat playing cards with some of their comrades because he’s so determined to get upstairs. But it didn't bother the blond at all, he simply smiled and shook his head. "I truly cannot think of two people who deserve to be happier." Eren heard him say and others in the room agree enthusiastically, a remark that he couldn't help but smile at. It's around mid day now, which means that Mikasa has already finished nursing their son and put him down for a nap, and will most likely be asleep herself. He opens the door carefully to avoid it's annoying creak and felt instant relief come over him to see his son safely sprawled out on his back, fast asleep in the crib at the end of their bed. He smiles as he carefully closes the door behind him and silently removes his boots, fixating his eyes on his girl while she sleeps peacefully curled up in a ball under the blankets. He sneaks around the crib to crawl into bed behind her and gingerly slides an arm under the pillow far from where her head lies, then drapes the other over her side to gently tuck his hand underneath. There was a sudden soft sigh when she slowly stretched her body back into his warm embrace, giving one glance over her shoulder with a sleepy smile as she blinks away her drowsiness. He always thought it was cute when she did stuff like that.

"You're back.." Mikasa mumbles as she turns her upper half to lean in for a sweet, welcoming kiss on the lips. "Try to keep your voice down, he's not sleeping well for me today." She yawns quietly into her hand and rests her head on the pillow once more, smiling wide as he presses light kisses to her cheek.

"Aw, poor kid." Eren whispers and smirks as she turns her head to meet his gaze, knowing that he loves this woman more than words can say. Hell, he always has. "Maybe he just missed his daddy."

"I know I missed his daddy.." She chuckles sleepily as her eyes flicker between those incredible emeralds and his highly kissable lips.

"Is that right?" He smiles and raises an eyebrow as he gently cradles her cheek in his hand, and she nods her head enthusiastically. Of course his amusement only grows as she leans in to kiss him, forcing them both to silence their own quiet laughter as not to wake the precious baby sleeping nearby. The last thing he needs is to be woken up before he's ready.

"So, how’d it go?"

"Exceptionally well. I believe we rebuilt around forty homes on this trip.”

"Gosh, I bet you looked really hot being all sweaty and whatnot..." Mikasa smiles between their soft, persistent kisses in response to his muffled laugh. "It's too bad that I wasn't there to see your incredible muscles in all their muscly glory.."

"Muscly glory?" Eren pulls away, pressing his lips together to keep himself from laughing aloud and smiling as he sits back to gaze into her eyes. "What the hell is that?"

"Heh, I’m sorry. I guess I’m still a little sleepy.."

"I know you're sleepy, Mika. It's pretty cute."

"You shut your mouth, hot shot, you're pretty cute yourself." Their attention is drawn to the foot of the bed when the baby suddenly stirs in his sleep, stretching his arms and legs before falling motionless once more with a tiny, squeaky sigh. Mikasa slowly sits up and blinks, clearing her vision to clear her vision that his little eyelids are still closed. The bed moves beside her and she can feel a wide grin stretch across her face when a pair of lips press tenderly against her cheek.

"You're both exceedingly adorable, you know. It's unacceptable." Eren chuckles lightly and pulls away to look at her as tears run down rosy, porcelain cheeks. He frowns as he moves his hand to gently cradle her opposite cheek and brought her closer to softly kiss those tears away. She grasps his wrist and gives a loving squeeze as he sits back to study her face. He smiles at her small grin of amusement and gently pushes his fingers through her hair. "Are you ever going to stop crying about how cute he is?"

"I mean, probably not.."

"I don't think you've stopped being weepy since you gave birth. Are you sure you're feeling okay?"

"I'm fine, gosh," Mikasa smiles, chuckling softly as she leans in to plant a kiss on his concerned frown. "And I worry to much?"

"You do worry to much and you know it. I just, I remember a few times from some of my old man's patients where women who give birth can become more sensitive. Often first time mothers, too."

"Look, I appreciate your concern, okay?" She says, their voices still at the same whispers as they gently rub the tips of their noses together. "But I would tell you if I were feeling sad."

"Would you?"

"Meh..."

"Exactly."

"No, seriously, I'll be upfront with you. We promised that to each other when we started dating, don't you remember?"

"Of course I do." Eren smiles as he presses his lips to hers and is pleased to feel these kisses returned so sweetly, the way they always are. He reaches for the silky hair invading their kiss and carefully pushes it aside, following her back slowly with their lips locked as he cradles her cheek in his large hand. They pull apart slowly after the need for air became too great to ignore and he smirks as he gazes lovingly into her eyes. "You're right, I'm sorry." He kisses her again and again, and pretty soon they were both trying desperately not to laugh aloud. But they were much more successful after the second time they pulled away and he suddenly found himself laying on his back. He adorably bites his lip as he moves his arm aside for her to cuddle into him and she couldn’t help but laugh to herself because the sight of someone known for being so tough has the sweetest soft side. She grins and happily takes her place laying up against him as he tightens his strong arm around her waist, knowing that he’s already more than used to the butterflies that’ll arise automatically from her lips smiling on his neck.

"Heh, thank you." Mikasa yawns softly as she listens to the comforting sound of his healthy heart beat and observes their little boy continue to sleep soundly. "I didn't think I'd get him down for his nap. He slept pretty well for me last night, though. Only woke up twice."

"That's wonderful. I was worried he wouldn't sleep well for you while I was gone since his routine would be all screwed up."

"He definitely loves being rocked to sleep by his daddy.."

"I missed you two so much it's honestly crazy."

"We missed you too." She smiles on his neck and presses her lips to this space as she lightly traces a small heart in the center of his chest. "I love you." Her lips smile against his skin once more when he kisses the top of her head.

"I love you too. You're mine for always."

"My heart only beats for you and our precious baby.." Mikasa smiles wide as she kisses up to his jaw and pulls away to rest her head on his chest. He lays his cheek on the top of her head as they cuddle together in silence and enjoy each other's company. The baby awakens gradually as his tiny hands wander up to rub his sleepy eyes and stretches out his limbs. His parents smile adoringly at their little boy as he watches them intently. "Gosh, both of my boys are so handsome.." She giggles softly as the hand resting on her hip slowly rubs along her side.

"Yeah, you're right, sometimes it is like I'm looking in a mirror." Eren says and she can hear the endearing change to his dreamy voice, even that his heartbeat increases with excitement. "So, did he laugh for you while I was gone? Or did I miss that milestone too like I missed the very first time he rolled over?" That was a heartbreaking moment for the young man who wasn't even on a mission at the time, but simply completing tasks on his 'hunny-do' list elsewhere. But without fail, his girlfriend had scooped up their baby boy and ran as safely as she could to share the incredible news with him. And when he finally saw Hannes roll over for the first time, he couldn't help but clap and smile his praises.

"Nope, though I got close a few times when he rolled on his belly. He was stuck for a little bit longer today so he wasn’t very happy with me," She giggles when their son flashes a wide, gummy grin and her heart feels absolutely full with the addition of Eren's genuine laughter. "Were you, baby boy?"

"His smile is adorable like yours."

"But those are your incredible eyes and handsome facial features in mini form." Mikasa turns her head slightly and presses her smile to the underside of his chin before she slides out of bed. She walks over to the crib and carefully lifts the baby into her arms, propping him up against her chest with his chin on her shoulder as she gently cradles the back of his head in her hand. "I'm certain that your mother would absolutely lose her mind over this little cutie..." She smiles as she softly kisses her baby's temple and one of his chubby cheeks, joyful eyes already locked on her loving boyfriend.

"Gosh, you think? Give him here, please, I've been dying to hold him for days." Eren smiles as he sits up in bed and takes his son, gently cradling his head in his hand with the other stretched under his back for a stable base. "Ah, there's my little guy.” He chuckles as he brings him closer to plant a kiss on his forehead. The baby reaches up to touch his father's nose and his smile, all while maintaining a still expression like he's utterly fascinated. "Wow, I sure missed you." He smiles and kisses the baby's fingertips as they feel across his lips, taking in all of his facial features.

"I love to watch you with him," Mikasa smiles as she climbs into bed beside her boyfriend and their son plays with one of his fingers. It's clearly too large for him to hold since he needs to use both tiny hands, but Hannes could care less based on that wide grin. "You're such a great Daddy."

"Loving him is easy. Hannes is both of us and I think that's pretty incredible."

"I always like to think that he has an angel on his shoulder watching over him. You know what I mean?"

"Yeah, I do. I like that." Eren turns to her and gives a smile that would have been bigger if her eyes weren't tearing up. The only good thing that comes from situations like these is how beautiful her eyes become, more so than they are already. That incredible man meant a lot to both of them, so his brutal death was particularly horrific. "Big Hannes. One hell of a guardian angel, that's for sure." They smile as they lean in to share a sweet, comforting kiss and their baby coos joyfully in his father's arms. "I'm absolutely crazy about you, you know." He smiles as she lovingly rubs the tip of her nose against his and gives a gentle, playful pull on his son's hands with the finger they continue to squeeze. His thumb lightly rubs over the top of his tiny hands and the young man frowns at the soft sniffles coming from his girl.

"Well, I've been crazy about you longer." She giggles as he crashes his lips crash against hers and runs her thumb over the dimple on his cheek.

"I don’t know about that, but I'm pretty sure I hid it better. Apparently everyone except for me knew that you were into me."

"You're the most handsome, oblivious human being I've ever met." Mikasa smile as they turn their attention down to the baby, who has adorably stuffed his tiny fist into his mouth. Surly if he were a few weeks older he would be gracing them with fits of laughter based on that familiar, playful expression that leads to everyone seeing his toothless grin so often. She watches in high amusement as her boyfriend carefully lays their baby on the bed and tickles his stomach. The little boy removes his fist from his mouth to give a wide, gummy grin that made both of his parents laugh. "He's so cute that I'm actually crying."

"I can't get enough of him. God, he smiles like you. Did you know that, Hannes? You smile just like your mommy." Eren laughs as he lightly tickles under the baby's chin with his fingertip, then gives his nose a gentle poke. "You even have her cute little nose." He smiles as she buries her face in the crook of his neck and a dainty hand slides around the width of his bicep. The dainty hands that have killed for him and the sake of humanity, for the chance to have a moment just like this.

"Goodness, you literally have not stopped flirting with me since you got home..." Mikasa grins as she presses her lips to his tanned cheek.

"I haven't been home for three days, babe."

"What, you're playing catch up are you?"

"Basically." He looks into her eyes with a dreamy smile and her heart flutters the way it always does.

"You're the worst..."

"I love you too." The way he laughs tells her that she's never seen him this content, at least not in a very long time. His energy couldnt feel more bubbly nowadays, which coincidentally began when their relationship was finally allowed to blossom and peaked the day that Hannes was born. "Do you have any idea how much daddy worried about you while he was gone?" Eren smiles as he gently rubs his thumb over the top of his son's hands and receives an impressive grip on his finger. "That's right, I lost count how many times I had to reassure myself that you and mommy were perfectly safe."

"We managed while daddy was away, huh, Hannes?" Mikasa giggles as she watches Eren's fingers gently tickle over the baby's stomach, making him squeal loudly in merriment. A different sound that the young parents haven't heard but a few other times before. They look to each other in shock, and one smiles wide as she pats the other's shoulder excitedly. "W-was that it?! Did he?!"

"He's so close! Come on little guy!" Eren smiles as he gentle tickles once again, making the baby react in the same adorable way. "Drastic times call for drastic measures. It always works to get you laughing, so, I wonder..." He says as he pushes the baby's shirt over his plump little belly and leans down to gently blow on his stomach. That did it. The baby immediately bursts into hysterical giggles and squeals with excitement once more as his ecstatic mother wipes away her tears of pure joy. Eren laughs as the baby continues giggling and playfully flails his little limbs excitedly. He sits up to look into those tiny eyes and smiles as his girl lovingly dusts the fuzzy chocolate hairs from the their son's face.

"Oh, my precious baby!" Mikasa smiles as leans down to give repeated kisses to his chubby cheek, making the baby giggle enthusiastically in response. "Heh, now that he's figured out how to laugh, we're gonna get to hear it all the time. I'm so excited!" She says in a way that makes the baby smile and the couple laugh together as he presses a kiss to her cheek, carefully resting his chin on her shoulder. "Oh, you are just too cute!"

"He really is." Eren smiles as he wraps his arm around her waist and touches the other to the baby's cheek. He gives a playful, gentle pinch and is rewarded with an adorable giggle and matching toothless grin. "Thank you for braving through that horrific pain for us to have him."

"Horrific pain is an understatement. I thought my shattered rib cage was the worst pain ever but it's definitely worth it."

"So, you would consider...?"

"Having another baby?" Mikasa smiles as she gently pokes the tip of her son's nose and the young couple laugh at the sound of his contagious giggles. She kisses his little cheek and pulls away to look into those dazzling emeralds that perfectly resemble his father's eyes. The baby boy grins as he flails his arms and legs happily, making them poor over their coos of joy. "Heh, let's just enjoy him for a little longer."

"Alright," She agrees enthusiastically as she turns to meet his gaze with an adorable smile and blushes lightly at his dreamy smirk. "I'd be okay with that. Can you handle me being pregnant again?"

"Oh, good point.." He says to her in a way that clearly conveys he's teasing and smiles as she kisses him on the lips. "Mikasa, you literally aren't any different than you are normally when you're pregnant. Just maybe slightly more moody, but only if I haven't fed you in at least an hour."

"Really?"

"Seriously. So, stop worrying about that. Besides, if anything like the times you couldn't control your tears happens again, I have no problem holding my girl." He lovingly tightens his arm around her waist and kisses the side of her neck as he smoothes his hand over the baby's belly. Eren chuckles to himself when he feels tiny hands playing with his fingers and looks up with a smile. "What are you doing, Hannes? Hm?" The baby grins as he studies his father's eyes and sleepily blinks his tiny eyelids.

"I love hearing you call me your girl. It’s still so surreal.” She smiles as she watches him gingerly slide a hand under the baby's head and low back to lift him off the bed. He adjusts him carefully in his arms as he rises out of bed and cradles the boy safely against his solid form. Mikasa sits up and brings her knees up to her chest as she watches him with their little boy. He’s a natural. "It's attractive how great you are with children, you know..."

"Watch it." He smirks and shifts his focus down to the baby as he carefully supports the back of his head in his hand. This is what Eren always does when they've been struggling with getting Hannes to sleep. They aren't even sure why it works so well when he clearly doesn't have a favorite. But it's something he loves to do, to cradle the baby safely in his arms as he slowly rocks from side to side. Since the baby's face is resting in his father's direction, Eren could hear those soft whimpers of retaliation because he'd much rather be awake socializing with his parents. "It's alright, buddy. Daddy's gotcha." He frowns as he kisses the tears from his son’s rosy cheek and glances up to meet Mikasa's loving gaze. They share a smile as she rests her chin on her arms and watches his paternal side come out, gradually gaining control of the little cries their baby whimpers. Eren makes careful movements with the baby in his arms until he was cradled against his father's chest somewhat unhappily, though that's only because he doesn't want to fall asleep yet. The young man tilts his arm up carefully to plant a soft kiss to his son's forehead as he continues to soothe him to sleep. It's surprising to the couple that it seems to be working so quickly today, since within a few minutes of that first tiny cry of retaliation, Hannes's eyelids were fluttering shut once more.

"My hero..." She whispers and grins when he playfully rolls his eyes.

"Why don't you try and get some rest?"

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I got this. Seriously, I don't want to see those beautiful eyes again for at least an hour and that's an order."

"Yes, Captain Jaeger." Mikasa smiles as she reclines back in bed and cuddles with her pillow. She watches him through sleepy eyes as a grin plasters on that handsome face and he slowly sways from side to side. His attention flickers between his two greatest loves and he smiles at the baby's sigh of content. It was clear from how Hannes struggles to keep his eyes open that it wouldn't be long now until he'll fall asleep once more and give his father a much needed cuddle session. He glances over his shoulder to see that Mikasa had finally given in to fatigue, just like their little one.

"You two are so much alike already." Eren whispers to his son and smiles as he slowly wanders over to the rocking chair in the corner of the bedroom. He takes care when he sits down as not to disturb the baby and grabs the blanket that was draped over the back of the chair so he could cover his legs, all the way up to the baby's chest. Hannes's eyes open momentarily and his father can see tears waiting to pool over from those litttle emeralds. He sniffles and sighs softly as his eyelids slowly flutter shut once more, his tiny hands moving up to rub his sleepy eyes. The young father smiles and carefully tucks the blanket under his son’s arms as he gets comfortable in the chair. After he double checks that the blanket is far enough from the baby's face, Eren finally allows himself to recline his head back and close his eyes. Having the privilege of raising a family with this woman is more than he ever could have asked for and he's truly looking forward to what the rest of their lives have in store for them. Their goal has always been to be outside the walls, but now that they have Hannes, such a journey would prove to be rather dangerous. He knows one thing for certain; that they'll always be home as long as they're together, Mikasa, himself, and their adorable baby boy.

Hi, I read all your responses to recent asks relating to eremika. You obviously see their moment as romantically coded. But what do you think about the theory floating around that Eren asked Mikasa "what am I to you?" Because he saw the future and knew the answer Mikasa would give which is why he says "not yet" and "perfect timing."

Hello anon!

I think we should make a quick distinction between the “nothing yet” and the “perfect timing”.

As far as the “nothing yet” is concerned I think it has not really anything to do with what happens in the scene itself, but it is mostly about Eren using the rumbling.

I have commented the scene here:

Eren  recognizes him as a person who has gone through experiences similar to  his. He has lost his home because of the war and is discriminated and  insulted by richer people. Mikasa surprises Eren while he is looking at  the child and crying and when she asks him what happened he says that  nothing has happened yet. This line implies within the chapter that Eren  is struggling with the idea that within his future victims there will  be also that child and his family.

As you can see, this line alone does not imply that Eren had just seen what was going to happen in a few minutes, but simply that he had aready seen the result of the rumbling and we already knew that since he saw it after Shiganshina:

Now, when it comes to the phrase “perfect timing” people can choose to interpret it in two ways.

1) It can be seen as a sarcastic remark made by Eren who is annoyed that he and Mikasa have been interrupted during their conversation.

2) It can be seen as a hint which supports the theory you are talking about i.e. that Eren had already seen the scene between him and Mikasa play out in that way and wanted to see if Mikasa could change it and give a different answer.

Let me say that I do not really think that this theory, if true, takes necessarily anything away from Mikasa and Eren’s moment. If anything it actually has the potential to make it even more meaningful.

It is not clear to me how Eren’s future memories work since he said that the scenery he saw was through Grisha’s memories. In short, it is not clear to me if he is receiving memories from his future self or only through his father’s memories and how these future memories are selected. It seems to me that throughout time Eren has come to gain a lot of knowledge from Grisha to the point that he even knew something as mundane as what ice-cream was. Does he have such mundane future memories as well? Or are his future memories less and only those he himself chose to show his father? And if that were the case how did he make such a choice? It is probable that he might have chosen only those memories that he thought to be important for a reason or for another. Or maybe the selection is up to chance or at most linked to Eren’s feelings. All in all I don’t know and I am not even sure that it is important.

What we know for sure is that Eren is not omniscent since he could not foresee many things like Sasha’s death, the attack from Marley and Zeke being initially in control of the Coordinate.

That said, as for now, we will consider two different hypothesis.

1) Eren’s future memories convey moments which are important for him.

2) Eren’s future memories convey random moments and mix important ones to more mundane and ordinary ones.

If the first hypothesis is correct and he knew of his shared moment with Mikasa beforehand, than it means that Mikasa’s confession is somehow important for him or he would not have “remembered” it.

If the second hypothesis is true and he “remembered” his conversation with Mikasa together with other unimportant moments, then Eren himself chose that specific moment to check if the future was bound to repeat itself or if it could be changed. In short, in this second case Eren himself gave importance to this specific exchange by literally making it the instant which could prove to him if the future could be avoided.

What I mean is…why should Eren choose this specific conversation to test how changeable the future is if he did not care about it in the first place?

If Eren did not care about Mikasa’s answer and about her feelings for him, then using this specific conversation to test the future would have simply been a very insensitive thing for him to do. Even if Eren can be brash and dense he cares about Mikasa and how she feels:

He was worried about Mikasa’s reaction over discovering that Dina was the titan who ate Carla and everyone’s reaction when Armin said Eren had hurt Mikasa should speak about how shocking Eren’s behaviour was.

In short, even if Eren doesn’t reciprocate Mikasa’s feelings it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t care about her or that he hates her. Because of this, I like to think that if Eren knew what Mikasa was going to say and he did not care about her answer he would not have used such a moment to test his powers, but he would have chosen another random and less personal moment. It simply seems to me a very cold thing to do to use the feelings of a person you care about in such a calculative way. I know Eren has done it plenty of times in this arc, but his behaviour in those situations has always been incredibly cold because it is clear that he was repressing how he felt, while in the last chapter he showed vulnerability.

Apart from that, I think that the whole theory of Eren using Mikasa to see if changing the future is possible ignores a very simple fact. Why couldn’t Eren try to change the future himself? Rationally, it is the person who has information about the future the one who has more chances of changing it. For example, if Eren were not interested in Mikasa and knew about their exchange beforehand, why couldn’t he try to avoid it altogether? All he had to do after all was not to make a question and nothing would have happened. Or he could have simply told Mikasa that he knew how she felt, but he did not reciprocate her feelings. Here you go, the future has changed and Eren has solved his relationship with Mikasa.

All in all, why should be Mikasa (or anyone else for that matter) the one to prove to Eren that the future can be changed? If Eren has really done such an attempt, then this simply highlights once again how desperate he is and how much he has been conditioned by the future he has seen. It would simply reinforce the idea that Eren’s power doesn’t make him freer, but only a slave of a destiny he cannot change.

Finally, if the theory you talk about in your ask is true, then this panel:

gains an ulterior meaning.

Mikasa doesn’t know about Eren’s power, so it is obvious that her words are not about it, but rather they are about the fact that she felt that was a key moment for one reason or another.

If Eren wanted to be proven that what he saw could be changed, then Mikasa’s words become even truer and all in all more nuance is added to their exchange.

However, all in all, I do not think that it would change anything that much because the truth is that thematically speaking a difference between Eren and Armin/Mikasa is already there:

Eren is so sure of his own future that he has stopped searching for an alternative. He can push forward because he only sees one thing. Mikasa and Armin have been more passive and reactive to the point that they almost stopped moving, but they are still looking for chances and for alternatives. Their vision is struggling against a deterministic perspective and this in itself adds to the idea that their path is different from Eren’s.

6 Years Since He Disappeared....Vanished Just Into The Thin Air Just Like That! Leaving her alone once again in this Cruel World! He is known as humanity's Biggest Enemy Now....Who was once recognised as Humanity's Only Hope! But Something Tells Her....His Decision Changed The Whole Prespective! Did he deceive her all again? After making her that promise of returning back alive....wrapping around her that piece of cloth...before going for that final battle against everyone....Did he just die like that after doing so much....not even once meeting her again! Just like any day....Mikasa starts her day thinking about him....just when her thoughts broke off hearing the powerful scream of her son....shrieking the hell out of her!

“ MOOMMM “

“Ahhh....Heyyy....” says Mikasa shocked watching that little guy running to her hurriedly with a backpack in his hand.

“ MOMMMM! GETTT ME MY FOOD HURRY! I GOTTA BE LATE FOR MY SCHOOL IF YOU JUST KEEP ON SITTING LIKE THAT! I AM HUNGRY” says the little guy with his loud voice.

“ Hush! Cant you speak a bit normally? I mean whats with all these shouting! I am not deaf!” scowls Mikasa as she gets up from the dining table.

The boy simply shrugs- Look Mom! I have no time for this....Alright! I am HUNGGRRYYY!

Ah that pout....thinks Mikasa....his cute little pout always makes her heart melt....and those Green eyes...it just reminds her of him! Thinking about him makes her Sad again!

Mikasa brings a plate full of noodles as she pushes it slightly towards the little devil on the other side of dining table.

The little guy hungrily takes the spoon out of it as he starts rolling the strands of noodles in it....and hurriedly stuffs them in his mouth.

Mikasa stares at her little boy silently observing his every features....his antics were just completely like his dad. Mikasa sighs....only if he was here! Suddenly her eyes fell on a small bruise on his forhead...Mikasa frowned....

When did he got that! Damn....did he just again fight with someone in his school yesterday!

This boy will surely make her crazy....

Mikasa glares at the green eyed little boy who was busy in gulping down his glass of water without noticing his mother's furious glare!

Mikasa in serious tone- Eli.....Look at me!

Eli looks at his mother in confusion as he stops munching his food for a moment...

Eli mumbling – Yes Mom!

Mikasa scowls- What is with that scar on your head!

Eli gasps in shock as he looks else where but not in her eyes....he surely tried to hide that thing by bringing his most of the black hair upto his forehead so that his mother wont notice that scar!

Eli nervously while fidgeting a little as he speaks in his child like voice- Errmm...Its nothing...actually...I fell on the way while returning to home so I guess Got hurt a little!

Mikasa glares- Eli...Shut up! Dont dare you lie to me! Since you got admitted to the school...I have been receiving lots of complain due to your rude behaviour towards children! So dont give me that crap! Did you fight again with someone?

Eli glares back at his mother as he says raising his voice- Rude behaviour? I am not Rude! Its not my fault if those kids of my class bumps into me intentionally just to tease me ! I am not gonna keep my mouth shut if they taunts me by calling me Monster Baby! I am gonna punch their freaking ugly face for calling me that! I had enough of it! I am not weak or Something....

Mikasa scolds him as she raises her voice- Eli! Stop it! If they taunts you....its not necessary for you to reply them back! Stop being impulsive! You cant just beat up people if they tell you something! Learn to control yourself!

Eli tries to defend himself- But...

Mikasa holds his shoulders softly- Eli listen to me!

As Eli stares with his big green eyes, Mikasa with broken voice tells him- Punching someone or beating someone wont prove you strong! I know how it feels but you gonna get adjusted to this! You dont need to start a fight with someone if they say hateful words to you! I know you are strong Eli! But you need to control yourself! Your anger wont do any good....

Eli remains mum as he softly shrugs off his mother's hand....taking his back pack on his back.

Eli calmly- I am done with my breakfast! Bye Mom!

Before Mikasa could say anything, Eli runs out of the house way to his school while Mikasa just whispers watching him running away- Bye! Just dont fall into any trouble Eli! You are the only one I have! I have lost everything in my life....I dont want to loose you!

Mikasa stares at sky scattered with clouds and the sun rays with birds flying...

Mikasa murmers as lone tear escapes from her eyes- Eren....I Wish You Were Here!

Eli has been walking merrily along the way towards his school when he hears someone calling him from behind....

Eli turns around and squeals in happiness seeing the blonde hair guy with that scout uniform- Uncle Arlert!

The blond guy walks hurriedly towards him as he laughs- Its Armin!

Eli rolls eyes- oh yeah its the same thing! Arlert is also your name anyways!

Armin giggle- oh well young man ! Off to school ha? Come I will take you there!

Eli with his head high- No need! I can walk to my school myself!

Armin nods his head gently- ofcourse you can! But I have to make sure you dont fall in any trouble you know....or else your mom will be worried!

Eli frowns as he chirps in his child voice- Wait Mom asked you to follow me!

Armin nods in negetive as he nervously says- No No....Not that lately she is being really worried about you! So I thought to have a check on you....

Eli yells angrily- Heyyyy! What the hell is wrong with everyone damn it! I am not a toddler or something! I dont need anyone! I can look out for myself! I am freaking 5 years! Leave me Alone uncle Arlert ! You have your own daughter....Just look after that pathetic princess of Yours!

Saying this....Eli ran off hurriedly before Armin could follow him any further.

Armin was shocked by his reaction! He wasnt expecting such outburst! He was not told by Mikasa to follow him....he just did it cause he felt he had some responsibility towards his best friend's son after what just happened a week back in his school!

But today this out burst....he just completely reminded of HIM!

It wasnt for first time....Eli was like this anyways since he was born....stubborn & pure brat with that pathetic anger of him but he usually doesnt talk like this with him....he is really fond of his uncle Arlert & his only friend Alina Arlert....his & Annie ‘s daughter! Yes They are no more titan shifters now! That power & the curse got ended 6 years back immediately after the rumbling! They were all normal now....

Alina is 4 now....a year younger than Eli...She still didnt get admission in school yet , most probably after she turns 5....she will also start going to school and accompany Eli too...

But well right now Armin is concerned about Eli sudden outburst....did he get into an argument with Mikasa again in morning! He seemed really pissed off hearing his mother’s name!

He needs to talk to Mikasa right now....

Eli was breathing heavily as he stops mid way & looks back....damn his little legs are paining now! He just ran a marathon to escape from Armin.

Aaahhh He hates just being lectured every damn time! Nobody just understands him & his point of view! His mom only thinks him of as some brat who doesnt listen to her or something! What she doesnt understand is....Eli is just tired of this daily bully of him in school by calling him some monster's child, Titan baby, illegitimate kid etc etc ! When he tries to explain this to his mom....all she tells him to not react to them! Like how the hell....why wont he react to those carzy bunch of people who simply insults him! Eli's anger just rose thinking about all these! He realises...he just ran off bit too far from his school....in some empty area with less people walking around! The area has some broken houses all around....people dont live here now much! Duh he is in no mood to walk back to his school....missing a day at school wont be any harm ,thinks Eli.

He just notices a bench a bit far.....and walks towards it & sit down!

He wants to be alone from his mother's scoldings and lectures! Eli always wondered why he didnt have a father like every other kid! He has been numerous times taunted about this by some adults in their neighbours! They simply call him Titan Baby & he hate that Word Titan! He doesnt really know what are those but once he heard some students in school talking about it....Titans were some bad ugly creatures who used to be on this land some years back! And Eli understood he was simply called those ugly creature's kid....

Once he dared to ask his mother about his own dad....but didnt get any answer from her instead he made her sad for some unknown reasons. He hates his mom to be sad or to cry! Its true his mom is strict in many ways and over protective too but Eli loves his Mom very much....just only he wishes if only she understood his feelings! Since Eli never questioned his mom about his Dad whom he never met!

Eli was lost in his thoughts as he was swinging his small legs over the bench absent mindedly....when all of a sudden he felt some one was watching him from far....Eli’s eyes travelled up infront of him as he felt alert all of sudden....

He noticed a Silhouette infront of him......on the wall ahead of that old broken house...someone is standing behind HIM!

SnK Chapter 128: My personal thoughts (SPOILERS)

My review is late, but I needed some time to process this madness 😨

- Title of this chapter is "Traitor". I first thought the traitor could be Yelena or Kiyomi, but damn I was wrong. My mistake was I only saw it from the POV of the alliance because I support the alliance. But in this case, the title "Traitor" is in the POV of the Jägerists, therefore Armin and Co. are the traitors the title is referring to

- I'm glad it was addressed why the Jägersts didn't already destroy the plane, I was afraid this could become a plothole

- Sleeping Heichou is cute 💕 (sorry not sorry)

- Pieck is a smart character and I loved it was her who pointed out they'd need the Azumabitos. I want her to have more screentime. But above all I want a proper reaction of her regarding Porco's death. I know they are in a war and don't have much time to mourn, but come on, please give us a little something, Yams! 😭

- Interesting how Annie asked Armin directly about his opinion. The fandom seems to argue over this scene. Some interpret it as cute AruAni moment, others think Annie was sarcastic and made fun of Armin and still others think it had no meaning at all. I personally think that Armin is important to Annie as a person and therefore she values his opinion.

- It's the first time AMJC take actions against Eren and their country. I feel their pain and understand their struggle

- Is is just me or is Reiner's hair longer? I like it the way it is now though 😊

- Annie: "I bet if it was up to you... You never would have destroyed the walls that day". 

...I can't stop thinking about Reiner's thought right after, his flashback of Eren saying: "I was right, I'm the same as you". 

Reiner understood what Eren meant: In Chapter 100, Reiner said he destroyed the walls not because of his environment, but because of his own decision, his own fault. He even forced Annie and Bertholdt to join. Eren says he is the same, he does what he does (commiting Genocide what Reiner didn't know back then) not because of his environment, but because of his free will, because he was born this way. 

This is what Reiner understood now. However, imo Eren's comparison is missing some points, he is actually NOT like Reiner: Reiner and Eren do have parallels, but I don't think Reiner would destroy the walls again as adult who is not brainwashed anymore. Eren however is an adult who takes his own decision with actually knowing what he is doing. Reiner did not years ago. In this case Reiner and Eren are different and Reiner needs to understand this. He looks even more depressed when he remembered Eren and I am yet again worried for his mental health

- Another hint Reiner changed: Years ago as I already stated, he kinda forced Annie and Bertholdt to do the mission, but this time, he leaves the choice to Armin, Mikasa, Jean and Connie if they want to do the mission or not

- Annie however seems to be different than Reiner. A few chapters ago she literally said she would do it all again. She mainly wants to protect her dad and I don't know if she actually cares about genocide. Either way I think this might change as she is learning what empathy is. I'm really excited to see in what direction her character development heads to

- In the end Armin and the others decided to make their hands dirty. It must have been a hard choice, but I agree with them

- So it seems like the Wall Titans reached Marley and the rumbling has started. I am still sure genocide is Eren's real plan and it seems like I'm right. Now the question is, is Liberio already destroyed, are the Warriors' families dead? What about Annie's father? The warriors looked shocked

- How much does Yelena know? And where tf is Eren?

- Last time I said give Magath some time to understand he is deluded. I'm glad now the time has come he realised that. Also I liked his speech as he told everyone they are not in charge of what happened

- Floch is back and he is as radical as always...

- Armin and Connie trying to talk and deceive him and the Jägerists - I knew from the start this would never ever work out. Kinda a little teaser talking things out with Eren won't work out either

- Armin is an amazing actor, he can even fake cry. Wow 😆

- Daz and Samuel?! WUH? 😱 I thought they were dead. What a surprising comeback (which didn't last long lol). When did they join the Jägerists? I guess they were in the Garrison with Flock and were closer to him and eventually got convinced to join

- What I didn't understand was Daz'(?) phrase "We took the explosive off". Why? Who? What does that mean?

- Kiyomi is a badass indeed. I laughed so much when Floch looked like a crybaby. Reminds me of the times in Rts arc. He took off his wannabe boss attitute for one time. I wonder - Will we get another Floch flashback next chapter?

- As the others, it was the first time Mikasa acted against Eren and his sake, even spilled blood against his sake. I can see her character developing. 

On the other hand, does she only do it because she she is against the Jägerists and genocide or maybe also because she gets faster to Eren when she defeats the Jägerists? I am not sure. But personally I hope she will eventually detach from Eren. I used to like EreMika myself, but since genocide reveal I think there is no way they will end up together

- Mikasa looked like Levi in this chapter

- Magath wearing Survey Corps uniform lol

- Armin getting shot out of the sudden was a surprise. But he is a sifter, he will be okay

- Seeing Reiner and Annie transform was one highlight for me. But that raises the question: Who is building titans now? Is Ymir still in paths building them? Is Eren against it or okay with it? How much control does Eren have over the Founder in the first place? And my personal assumption: Has Zeke something to do with it? 

- Another highlight for me was that one Bert panel. Not only because I love and miss Bert. Armin realises that he is now in the same position as Bert was years ago. He doesn't want to kill his old friends, but in his opinion he has no choice because they fight on opposite sides now. Armin and the others became traitors just like Reiner and Bert years ago. Also Connie was the one who was most disappointed in Reiner and Bert when they exposed themselves, and now Connie understands them as he is in the same position

- Connie shooting Daz and Samuel to save Armin and the ship. Well... It raises the question if Connie did the right by shooting them and I'm sure he will always ponder on if it was right or not. But in my opinion Connie had no choice anymore. It was a matter of seconds and Samuel and Daz would have killed them either. It was literally "Kill or be killed bro"

- Character of this month: I'm not sure. I would say Magath, Connie or Armin? Or maybe Daz and Samuel because they were actually dead and resurrected again only to be killed again 

- My rating for the chapter: 8/10. It was a good chapter, but nothing super mindblowing happened

Prompt: How about writing Eremika to chapter 119. Mikasa sees Eren's "death" and cannot believe his eyes, and then Eren's "corpse" turns into a titan (repeating Reiner's trick from chapter 74)

A/N: As I don't believe that Eren is truly dead in the slightest, I took a stab at what could possibly happen in the next chapter. Only time will tell if I was right.

The world went still.

A few pebbles scattered down from the wall from underneath Mikasa’s boots when she landed, eyes glued to the scene that just happened, right in front of her. Everyone present, soldiers, shifters, even the Titans stopped whatever they were doing, and stared, as the headless body that used to be Eren Yeager fell to its knees and slowly slumped to the side, finally coming to a stop. Her eyes met Armin’s, just a few meters away, silently begging him to explain to her, to say that what just happened was a part of the plan or something, but for once her clever friend remained silent. Armin’s eyes, same as hers, held an ocean of pain, nothing more.

Forcing her head to turn, her body to move, Mikasa redirected her eyes back at the place where he died, watching the motionless body as if expecting him to rise again. Understandably, he didn’t. Every breath she took hurt, much worse than that one time her ribs got broken by a titan, the torment in her mind unmatched by anything physical. Going by what Eren said to her, those words that separated them like nothing else before, perhaps she should feel relief, feel the chains of her Ackerman slavery falling away, to finally feel free.

Yet she didn’t.

There was no joy in her heart, and in this particular moment, Mikasa couldn’t even describe how being happy once felt. This world, this war, the cart titan she fought just a few moments ago, they meant nothing, not anymore, because the reason for her struggles was there, bleeding silently in the streets. She felt this way only once before, back when Eren was eaten, in Shiganshina, but even that didn’t hurt as much as now. Because there was no hope, not anymore. She saw him die with her own eyes, and no miracle was coming.  

One of Mikasa’s blades clattered uselessly on the ground, as she continued staring, her hands completely numb, devoid of purpose. But as she continued watching, a figure climbed into her feet, leaning on the massive rifle, blinking as if still in disbelief on what she’s done. Wait a second… She knew that girl! It was the young warrior that jumped on the airship, the one that killed Sasha, the one… the one that….

The one that Mikasa saved.

A burst of laughter ripped from her throat, on the absurdity of it all, her mental strength crumbling. So this was how the world worked. You save a young girl, one that killed your friend, and you whole-heartedly believe that it was brainwashing that made her act that way, that she can still see this island for what it was, a land of people, not devils. And then the same girl shoots the head off the man you love. Stupid, she was so stupid for believing that anything in this world was worth saving. Nothing was. It deserved nothing less but an apocalypse, to drown in a sea of blood, an exodus. Exactly the thing that Eren advocated, and she thought that he was wrong. No, he was exactly right, but she only realized it now, too late, too late for everything. The world is cruel but beautiful? No. The world is cruel. It’s hell, and only one thing lives in hell.

Devils.

Well all right then, if the girl was so sure that they were devils, perhaps it was high time to show her one. Fingers closing around the handle of her remaining blade, Mikasa judged the distance to the girl, making a few quick calculations on how fast she can get there. Perhaps it really was over. Perhaps with Eren’s death, their whole island will be wiped from the history books.  Mikasa didn’t know those things, she couldn’t see the future. Yet there was one truth, one that was crystal clear in her heart, fueling her every move now. Before everything is over, Mikasa will undo her greatest mistake. That girl she saved will die by her blade. Preparing for the jump, she eyed the nearest anchor spot, almost firing the cable and….

An explosion tore through the street where Eren’s body was. A giant thunder, a wall of steam, and the telltale shadow of a rising titan, in a shape that Mikasa knew intimately. Massive jaw, pointed ears, the curtain of dark hair, intelligent eyes. The Attack titan stood to its full height, alive, and behind herself, Mikasa heard Pieck’s titan roar. But it wasn’t one of a challenge or a war cry, it was a scream of desperation. This was their best chance at preventing what was about to happen, and as everyone present could see, it apparently failed.

Breathing didn’t hurt anymore. There was relief flooding her whole body, a warmth, same as when she hugged Eren’s unconscious body as he appeared in a titan’s nape for the first time. Filling her lungs, Mikasa quickly grabbed the sword she dropped before, turning back to face Pieck again. If they survived, there would be time for questions later, first, they had to get through this, no matter what. Jumping towards her target, she slashed viciously at the shifter's face, being rewarded with two long gashes that almost immediately began bleeding.

And with the hiss of steam, all around them, the world came alive again.

Shirtless Armin really waters my crops

This episode was DEVASTATING. OnoD had only one line, but even that one, all soft and weak that made the Commander sound so *human*... I was practically sobbing. And the look on Levi's face just. Just ended me.

Eren and Mikasa's pain was beautifully done. Kaji Yuuki is an absolute marvel, his voice is always dripping with emotion and Eren's pain brought me to tears, too. Not to mention Mikasa's wail...

WHICH SEIYUU WAS THE MVP THIS EPISODE? 366 Responses

Thanks to the voice actors it had more impact than the manga. I cried for Levi, who had to make the hardest decision of his life.

i am a hardcore dub over sub person and yuki kaji had me in tears. SUPER phenomenal voice performance in this episode, jesus christ.

Might’ve been the best ensemble voice acting I’ve ever seen in anything and that included movies. Eren’s, Mikasa, and Levi’s performances were phenomenal. Also, Erwin and Bertholdt’s voiceactors made their deaths that much more impactful.

Great VA work. Growing increasingly attached to floch character because his VA is so good.

Regarding the voice actors this episode, everyone did an awesome job and I expect EreMika to take top place. I chose Hange though because this episode showed new sides of her and it felt like she had a bigger variety of emotions to display. From the relentless wish to kill a titan, which was something uncharacteristic of her usual self, to the strong and determined ""It was my decision"" and then her desperate and vulnerable speech, and finally, her worn-out ""He's already dead."

I may have said all the voice actors were MVP this episode(they are tbh lol added a lot to this already emotional episode) but Mikasa's crying omg I FELT THAT

The decision between Armin and Erwin’s survival split the participants’ responses near evenly, though 47.3% thought the best objective choice was to revive Erwin, while 42.4% thought Armin was a better choice. (A small 10.3% thought neither were good options, you monsters!)

I want to say that depends on what sort of objectively we are looking for. Are we looking at it from an in character perspective? Then yes, I would've chosen Erwin. However, if we are looking at it from a story analysis/out of universe perspective, I feel Erwin should always have died, as Armin, in my opinion, has more potential for an additional narrative arc (though his character development would also have been perfect if he had died there) but also through Erwin's death, a lot more people gained new development (Levi, Hange, Armin obviously, Floche to some degree, to some degree the rest of the 104th) that I feel is much more important from a narrative point of view. This arc marks the moment where the status quo about the world is very violently shaken up, and Erwin's death does the same thing to the SC which I feel works best thematically.

Happy to find out about the basement but once he confirmed his father’s theory, I think he would have preferred not being chosen.

The first thing is he would want to go see the basement. After that, he'd continue to be crushed by his guilt and feel burdened with the responsibility of the titan power even though he no longer has a motivation to lead an army.

His speech made everyone go on a suicide charge with him, therefore after he would survive his guilt of fallen comrades would be unmeasurable. The charge was his final decision and his final redemption.

Erwin not only feel guilty at having been forced to live after coming to peace with his death, he would probably also come to resent Levi for breaking Erwin's trust by bringing him back.

Multiple possibilities factored into Levi’s decision to pick Armin, though 45.8% of viewers believe it was mostly because Levi wanted to let Erwin rest. 42.6% believed it was a mix of all possible factors that played a role in his decision.

Erwin told Levi how he felt all his dead comrades were looking at him, Levi didn't want him to live with the guilt any longer.

I think ultimately, after Floch's speach Levi realized that Erwin was indeed becoming a monster and he didnt want him to go further down. But I also think that he cared for Armin and his dream enough that also played a part in his choice. He may have realized that he was being a hypocrite when he told Eren to set his feelings aside.

I believe that Levi wanted Erwin to escape this hellish world but also because he saw a more visionary future from Armin.

He realized Erwin gave up on his dream and made his mind to die but Armin hasnt and died while still longing for his dream. Plus he wanted him to rest from being a devil with guilt

Levi realized that Erwin had given all he had to give and that he’d only be bringing back an empty shell of who Erwin was. It would also be cruel to bring him back, as Levi explained.

He realized that Erwin and Kenny were both driven by the intoxication of their dreams, and wanted to set Erwin free from that.

Levi understood that Erwin's wish was to die there, at that moment when he was finally in tune with his words as a commander

Many factors influenced Levi's final decision. But I want to say something that suits better than simply saying "Levi chooses Armin". I mean, yes, he gave him the serum and the chance to be reborn to Armin, but I saw him more as if Levi chose Erwin as the best way for him, not for humanity. Both (and all) are slaves of a dream, a goal to achieve in their lives, and it is wrong to say that some dreams are more "good" or more valuable than others. Their lives cannot be measured by their actions, but by their souls. And Erwin soul was tired, full of pitty and guilt for how much soldiers and close friends died because "they gave their hearts" to him, their life and dreams for humanity, and every dead was a weight that fall in his shoulders, every mission, every year. And for Levi, Erwin is the most important person in his life, he knew all of his suffer. Erwin's death was the freedom for him, being freed of living in this hellsite and being called by the name of the devil. In summary, Levi decision was the most kind, empathetic and noble act in his life for Erwin. He loves this man so much, he needs to rest.

There were plenty of tearful moments that got viewers grabbing their tissues. Mikasa’s panicked crying when Levi was preparing to inject Erwin choked up 16.8% of participants the most. Levi’s reaction to Erwin’s death was the saddest to 13.3%, and 11.9% were emotional over Eren’s final plea to save Armin.

I teared up when Erwin died; I didn't realize the anime adaptation of Serumbowl would affect me so much. Kudos to the directors, VAs, animators, everyone for such an impactful episode

The episode was beautiful. It made me cry throughout most of it. The voice acting was amazing, especially Mikasa’s VA imo. Tons of respects for the VAs for delivering so much raw emotion and the animators’ amazing work on the visuals.

Honestly this episode was emotionally exhausting, in a good way. The silence was a brilliant choice on the directors' part as it let the VAs raw emotion carry the episode. Character animation and expressions were also on point. Couldn't be happier with the adaptation of Ch.83-84.

IF LEVI HAD CHOSEN TO INJECT ERWIN, DO YOU THINK THAT THE CURRENT MANGA SITUATION WOULD BE AS DIRE? 370 Responses

Just different. I don't think we can say that Erwin would've dealt with the current situation better because the current situation would not exist at all. From the moment of Erwin's death, the decisions became Hange's and her priorities shaped those. Erwin, from the start, would've made different decisions. Those may have led to the same situation occurring, those might have led to a whole different set of difficult circumstances. It is impossible to predict. Plus there is the Eren factor. We have Eren causing a lot of trouble for the SC right now, and that is an Eren who did get the revival of his best friend and his close companionship for a few more years. And Eren who lost Armin would've acted completely differently. Would he have resented the SC? Would he have even wanted to stay under the people who, in his eyes, killed Armin? Would anyone be able to talk him down. Would he strike out on his own more quickly and have another reason for potentially joining with Zeke? Maybe in a universe where Erwin was revived, sure, they would've had his experience and political savvy, but it is quite possible they would've lost Eren completely at a much earlier point. Does that lead to a better or worse situation? We literally cannot say.

I don't think there's a way to know for sure. Erwin stated that he wasn't sure what he planned to do after seeing Eren's basement, plus I'm not sure if he would have been able to handle any more guilt related to sending his soldiers to their deaths. Personally, I agreed with Levi when he said that Erwin deserved to rest.

No fucking Armin is useless as of now. That's what Hange was saying about leadership and insight. We could easily argue Isayama hasn't written anything for Armin, but you could also argue that attests to his lack of. Erwin wouldn't let Eren go rogue. The biggest question to ask all manga readers is whether Armin has done anything for humanity that Erwin couldn't have done thus far.

The situation inside the walls would definitely be a lot more organized, but when it comes to turning the tables on Marley, Armin seems to find the most creative ways to turn the tables on their enemies in a way that doesn’t leave a pile of corpses behind him the way Erwin does. The early part of this arc demonstrated what they lost with Erwin, but I believe it’s Armin’s turn to do something great again. And let’s be honest, it’s Eren’s fault that Armin hasn’t gotten the chance to do anything besides plan the Liberio reinforcements anyways.

One of Eren’s biggest vulnerabilities is his attachment to his friends, although current manga events have displayed Eren’s less heartfelt treatment of his loved ones. 51.5% of respondents, however, still believe Eren harbors the same weakness for them now as he did back then.  25.6% aren’t quite sure, while 18.6% believe he has completely moved on.

He does care. He just isn’t weak about it. Or at least, he doesn’t show it. But he still wants to protect them.

I think only placing Armin or Mikasa in a deathly situation would descover If Eren still harbours feelings for them. In this point of the manga I believe Eren has forgotten all love and compassion and he needs a sparkle to remind them.

He grew up, so of course he has changed. But I still believe he cares about them, he just doesn't want them around rn and prefers to do this by himself.

When the Serumbowl chapters were first released, there were varying reactions to Eren and Mikasa’s actions. I get where they were coming from, I still do. But I also still think they shouldn't have acted this way (neither of them, even Levi), but it was a tough and intense situation

EreMika being emotional during the serumbowl. Well that is understandable but not excusable. I could argue that Levi was emotional too, his decision to revive Armin wasn't just because he wanted Erwin to rest but also because he thought Armin had a good, pure dream (otherwise he wouldn't have gotten all those flashbacks of Armin flailing about the sea). But EreMika only wanted their friend alive, with little consideration towards Humanity's chances of survival, and only after a long process of persuasion did Mikasa finally let go of Armin...while Eren still did not. That, coupled with the fact that Mikasa legit attacked their one and only best soldier because emotions...I cannot find their actions justifiable…

Eren action just screams childish and selfish just like a child who is throwing a tantrum and crying out loud when his demand wasn’t fulfilled. I understand he can’t helped it since it’s his precious friend but it just shows his immaturity and his inability to understand other people pains other than his own. I don’t see him putting his faith in Levi’s decisions nor others comrades’ when the decisions didn’t go the way he likes; he was angry, bitter, he even forced to take it away and threatening.

FLOCH HAS COMPARED BOTH ERWIN AND EREN TO A DEVIL. DO YOU THINK HE SEES THE SAME QUALITIES IN EREN NOW THAN HE HAD SEEN IN ERWIN? 369 Responses

Floch believes only a devil can defeat their enemies. With the current happenings of the manga, 73.4% of respondents believe Floch thinks Eren holds similar “monstrous” qualities that Erwin had, though 14.6% are not quite sure.

Maybe Floch in the Manga is trying to become the devil because he knows no one else will do it.

HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SPLIT SECOND FLASHBACK OF ERWIN RAISING HIS HAND AT SCHOOL? 367 Responses

The anime added a brief transition scene of Erwin raising his hand at school. 52.9% of respondents enjoyed the addition and felt it helped show that Erwin was in a dreamlike state. 40.6% of viewers though it was a neat extra touch that added more impact to the moment. A small amount of viewers could have done without it.

I jumped when i saw that moment, that was a perfect decision, this episode is truly poetic cinema.

Essentially the second option, but I'd like to say that it wasn't just a "neat" addition, it was a heartbreakingly poignant one.

Apparently this still wasn't enough for people to realize that this was Erwin hallucinating, and not him rejecting the serum.

I feel like Erwin overheard everything & willingly rejected the serum, but was just so out of it that he couldn’t form the right words to tell Levi his actual thoughts on the matter. I think it’s good writing, generally speaking.

More information on Bertolt’s backstory was revealed later in the manga, which had 31.7% of respondents feel more pity for him when watching his death in the anime. 24.6% were always sad to see him die and 21% of participants felt more sad about it.

Didn't really change. On one hand i feel bad for him but i also really disliked him.

His death in the anime mirrored Marco's and seemed fitting

Nah, i didn't felt anything when he died, and even tho i am more empatethic and pit for with him rn, he still killed hundreds of people. It's good to understand the characters reasons (somethign wedon't have with Eren) but it's also a fact that his reasons don't erase what he did.

I felt bad for Bert's death before the Marley arc. But more of a disturbing pity way. Now I feel alot more sympathetic. However, he still deserved to die unfortunately.

In that moment I felt so bad and there are times when I do but in general I prefer Paradis to Marley. Though I understand what an awful situation they are in. The music and how it was carried out was heartbreaking tho.

His reaction just broke me, in the end he was left alone, with his own guilt and unfulfilment.

I am more sympathetic, but I still believe that he brought that onto himself.

Seeing Bertholdt’s death made me a lot more emotional than the manga. His reaction and voice acting really hit it home for me since I have a soft spot for him after reading the manga. RIP Bertie, despite the circumstances he couldn’t control he definitely deserved better :’(

The anime added a moment of Bertolt’s temporarily smiling when he saw his former comrades.  44.3% of participants thought the addition added more emotional impact to his death, and 28.5% of participants felt sorry for him. 14.9% were upset that Bertolt had the nerve to smile at all.

We all know that his actions were imposed, and the thought of them alone has traumatized the RBA trio. They have shown many times the guilt and need for forgiveness for everything they did. They don't deserve any of this, much less die in such a horrible way as being devoured alive! For me, Berthold was a background character, the boy who was always next to Reiner and that's all, but reviewing and watching more closely his evolution in the anime, even more his death, made me feel really bad for him. Berth deserved more attention in his life, more love and praise, because it is evident that his self-esteem was THAT LOW for all the comments that others gave, including Reiner, his best friend. Anyway, as I said in a post, the one who died was not the Colossal Titan, was a lonely, shy and noble teenager who just wanted to be loved.

I truly wish the survey corps were instead able to convert Bertolt and Reiner to their side instead of watching Bertolt die so brutally. The fact that he flashed a smile when he saw his former comrades really goes to show that he instinctively thought of them as his friends. Truly a sad addition to the anime. All he wanted was to be found.

From the preview scenes of the Basement, a majority 39.9% of participants anticipate the scene of Eren being unable to unlock the door with the key. 29.8% of respondents are most looking forward to Eren, Mikasa, Levi, and Hange approaching the basement. 13.7% are anticipating the scene where Armin learns about the sacrifices made to revive him.

I just need to see Eren's face trying so Hard to lift the bar that fell on top of his house and Mikasa and Levi just lift it like it is a feather.

Levi opening the basement's door with his foot is one of the best scenes of the whole chapter and no one will ever change my mind

There are rumors that the new episode will have an extended flashback with Eren and Mikasa.  60.8% of respondents are fine with the addition as long as it doesn’t detract from the manga material. Others are very excited about the flashback, don’t want the extra scenes, or don’t care.

As long as it contributes to what’s currently happening, I won’t have a problem with it.

I don't think anime has time for filler

The anime direly needs a breather episode to let people process the events of the last few episodes, and that would allow for it while also leading to an ending that brings in the next part of the story.

I dont like filler but if it's relevant and faithful to the story, why not

I like when they stick straight to the manga, but this will be interesting?

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?

The anime deciding to work both 83 and 84 into an episode solved my biggest issue with Serumbowl just like that. By having both chapters flow into each other, the sense of urgency and chaos of the event actually resonated with me, rather that having lost that in the monthly wait between chapters. And I really appreciate that.

I was crying like a fuckin baby, this was amazing.

Wonderful episode. So much emotion. I was only disappointed to see that it removed the close-up shot of a crying Reiner. I believe it was the only scene of him ever shedding a tear since he became a warrior..

Hange may have suffered the most by losing her close friend/assistant and her close friend/commander + physically losing her left eye. She also has to step up to the mantle of being the new commander to fill the impossibly large shoes that Erwin left behind.

All the emotions I felt while watching this episode made me realise how much i am greatful for those who matter to me the most, this is why this episode was just the best.

I find it great that Bert's death was done in such a great way where whether you are a Manga or Anime-only viewer, you have tons of different conflicting opinions regarding Bert's death.

This episode was splendid, brilliant in every way, I just have to give a round of applause to the voice actors and animators who did this great work. And maybe for that reason and to relive these feelings already believed buried years ago, I thought about what things would have happened and not if another path had been taken. The death of Erwin was the breaking of everything. In that time (years ago) when I saw that Levi chose Armin, it was sad, VERY SAD, but I had faith that he would be the future and the hope to guide us to a better destiny, one without big conflicts and wise and transcendent decisions, but no. Until now Armin has not done much, almost nothing. The current situation of the government, the "betrayal" from Eren and genocide on Liberio, Historia waiting for the time to pass so that her son born and immediately introduce her to the curse that cost so much to get out, ingesting the Beast Titan from Zeke. All these factors make me think that if Erwin was alive none of this would have happened, his leadership and conviction are more necessary than ever now. And seeing it as a whole, more than the fact that Erwin is officially dead (I mean in anime and manga), it gives me even more pain and helplessness than before to see that maybe Levi's decision was not the right one. This feel of desolation also falls for Levi (ofc), Hange, Armin, Eren, Historia, in everyone! Perhaps if the situation had been different, maybe everything would be better, I don't know. However, I don't want to stop believing in Armin, if he was chosen is because he has a purpose to fulfill, perhaps being the new "Helos" that will stop this great war, I don't know either... We'll see it soon, I hope so.

Some of the timing in the animation was weird and irked me a little

It was so so so so badly animated. It looked worse than the manga. The amount of completely still frames was absurd.

It feels like the end of an era. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch the anime the same way. After this, everything turns upside down, and everything seems tainted by the truth of their world. When I think like that I'm glad Levi let Erwin go when he did. Erwin would have thrived in the current events, for sure, but he would've hated it and himself for his part in it. I have no doubt Erwin would blame himself thoroughly for Armin's death, if he had been given the serum then.

Best episode of season 3 thus far. I feel like the art in this episode is the best out of any of them, mostly due to the fact that they probably brought back some of the season 2 staff to work their Close-Up-Facial-Shot-Magic™️. There was a lot of detail put into the faces of the characters this time around and I feel like that’s been lacking ever since season 3 started. I hope they stick around for the rest of the season.

As someone who is extremely neutral about Mikasa, this episode made me shed tears at the expression of utter pain she had when she accepted armin's death, 10/10 animation, how heartbreaking.

The last 3 episodes are the greatest Attack On Titan episodes ever. I just can't decide which one is the best. I am leaning on Hero, but both Perfect Game and Midnight Sun could easily take its place.
