The Pied Piper is the perfect fairytale to associate with Wataru… The imagery of a mysterious figure leading people astray fits Wataru to a T. Especially with regard to what he represents to Eichi. Wataru is his Pied Piper. His brilliance is the song that drew Eichi into the world of idols. It’s another spin on the “Wataru as Mephistopheles/Eichi as Faust” symbolism. Eichi followed Wataru too deep into “hell” and fell in love with it. He became a Pied Piper/Mephisto himself, and now Eichi is using that power to reshape the world in his image.
