Weekend (1967)
Tumblr media
You know how everyone claims that their city has the worst drivers?  Well, we can all call it quits, because Jean-Luc Godard’s scorching satire offers filmic evidence of some of the truly most egregious driving ever put to film (aside from maybe Vin Diesel driving off a dam in Fast X).  With a masterful and technically impressive long dolly shot, Godard follows entitled bourgeois couple Roland and Corinne Durand as they illegally take the oncoming lane to bypass a lengthy traffic jam.  Over a foundation of constant horn blaring and honking (because laying on your horn notoriously solves ALL car-related problems), camera and couple alike pass numerous humorous images of the stalled traffic: a couple playing chess in the street, a woman irate at a gasoline truck blocking her way though she’s fully in the wrong lane, a car that effortlessly parries the couple’s attempts to zipper-merge back in and cut the line.  But the anticipation with any traffic incident is always there: what caused everything to come screeching to a halt in the first place?  The sudden revelation of a bloody crash, bodies strewn about a roadside next to crumpled metal is a jarring, shocking sight, a gory tableau conjured from everyday elements and portrayed in almost banal fashion.  All of this inconvenience for so many behind, but a life-changing or -ending event for a few.  That this scene of horror is so familiar to so many who’ve been on a highway is the real hammer-blow.  We are living inside a capitalist horror story, Godard asserts.  It’s not so much a horror story as a lark for the Durands, ripping about the French countryside with little regard for human life while they plot both their own infidelity and their collection of a hefty inheritance.  But soon enough the world around them is their own car crash.  Not that it was that stable to begin with.  The trip begins with a man shooting at them for crashing into his car, and they wrap up their tour in the clutches of a crew of gun-toting cannibalistic hippies.  Throughout it all, Godard favors to observe proceedings at a remove, as if to shrug and say “well, that’s all folks.”  The hopeful revolutionaries become the colonial oppressor, the peace-loving commune a den of violence.  Eat the rich, literally.

Up Ladybug - Meet The Quantic Kids Remix (Analyzer)
The Quantic Kids
The Quantic Kids are a group of superheroes formed by Ladybug and Chat Noir, who also act as the team’s leaders, after encountering the superheroes Kid Mime, Melodie, Gavroche, Sparrow and Queen Bee. The goal of the Quantic Kids is to protect Paris from Papillon, his minions and the Butterfly Wraiths. Unlike Ladybug and Chat Noir, who have the kwamis Tikki and Plagg to give them their powers, the other members of the Quantic Kids use a Butterfly Chrysalis.
Bridgette Cheng/Ladybug
Tumblr media
“Tikki, transform me!’‘
After finding the Ladybug Earrings and meeting the Kwami of Fortune, TIkki, Bridgette Cheng gains the ability to transform into the superheroine Ladybug. As Ladybug, she gains a compact that she can turn into various weapons to aid her in a battle. Her main superpower is her Good Luck Charm and she can Connect with Chat Noir to influence reality. Initially, she fought alongside Chat Noir, but after meeting the other superheroes, she became the leader of the Quantic Kids due to her experience, with the other members looking up to her. She is the second member of the group to gain her superpowers.
Félix Agreste/Chat Noir
Tumblr media
“Plagg, transform me!”
After finding the Ring of the Black Cat and meeting the Kwami of Misfortune, Plagg, Félix Agreste gains the ability to transform into the superhero Chat Noir. As Chat Noir, he gains the ability to manipulate dark energy (Black Storm & Black Hole), usually using his claws and cat senses in combat. His main superpower is his Bad Luck Curse and he can Connect with Ladybug to influence reality. Initially, he fought alongside Ladybug, but after meeting the other superheroes, he became the leader of the Quantic Kids due to his experience, with the other members looking up to him. He is the first member of the group to gain his superpowers.
Claude Savard/Kid Mime
Tumblr media
“Kid Mime, metamorphosis!”
After finding a Butterfly Chrysalis, Claude Savard gains the ability to transform into the superhero Kid Mime. As Kid Mime, his power is to mime anything he desires into existence, with that object usually remaining invisible and only casting a shadow. Driven by his desire to protect his childhood friend, Bridgette Cheng, Kid Mime is loyal to a fault to Ladybug. Interestingly, while his relationship with Félix Agreste isn’t the best, he and Chat Noir get along well and tend to often team up in combat to mess with their opponents. He shares his powers with Pierre LaRue/The Mime, someone he used to look up to, but unlike The Mime, Kid Mime tends to talk during battles. He is the fourth member of the team to gain his superpowers.
Allegra Baudelaire/Melodie
Tumblr media
“Melodie, metamorphosis!”
After finding a Butterfly Chrysalis, Allegra Baudelaire gains the ability to transform into the superheroine Melodie. As Melodie, she uses her flute as a weapon, being able to create sound-based and sonic wave-like attacks, as well as control fire and turn her flute into a fire sword (Flare). Driven by his desire to save her friend, Carmilla Brigante, from another of Papillon’s attacks, Melodie is the cool-headed strategist of the group, working well with everyone. She is the fifth member of the team to gain her superpowers.
Allan Durand/Gavroche
Tumblr media
“Gavroche, metamorphosis!”
After finding a Butterfly Chrysalis, Allan Durand gains the ability to transform into the superhero Gavroche. As Gavroche, he has the ability to manipulate a material he calls Spark. This Spark is actually energy made out of pure light, which Gavroche can manipulate into energy projectiles and shields, and is even able to create a golem-like entity he calls Schütze (German for protector). Driven by his desire to save his older sister, Corinne Durand, after she had been turned into a Butterfly Wraith, Gavroche is someone the other members can always rely on. He is the seventh member of the team to gain his superpowers.
Sophie Renard/Sparrow
Tumblr media
“Sparrow, metamorphosis!”
After finding a Butterfly Chrysalis, Sophie Renard gains the ability to transform into the superheroine Sparrow. As Sparrow, she gains access to her Feather Darts, which she can transform into all kinds of useful items, mostly technological in nature (like a grapple hook or hacking device) and the coat on her back can turn into a glider. Driven by her desire to protect the people that had been targeted by Papillon at one of Gabriel’s fashion shows, Sparrow is a quick-witted and resourceful member of the team. She is the sixth member of the team to gain her superpowers.
Amber Bourgeois/Queen Bee
Tumblr media
“Queen Bee, metamorphosis!”
After finding a Butterfly Chrysalis, Amber Bourgeois gains the ability to transform into the superheroine Queen Bee. As Queen Bee, she uses a trompo (a yellow and black spinning top) as her main weapon and gains bee wings for flight. She also has access to two superpowers, one which allows her to release a fine yellow powder by spinning her trompo that causes paralysis to all who are exposed to it (Pollen) and the other allows her to turn her trompo into a bladed weapon attached to her right arm (Stinger). Driven by her desire to prove herself as a superhero, Queen Bee will usually be the first to enter a battle. Despite trying to act as professional as possible (and emulating Ladybug in the process), Queen Bee has her moments of sass and haughty behavior. Still, at heart, she completely adores Ladybug, being overjoyed when she gains the opportunity to work with her and will even fangirl in her presence. She is the third member of the team to gain her superpowers.

2020 Reading Challenge Report
I really liked it last year when I made a spread in my journal with my best of books for 2019. So here’s my best of for 2020.
I was WAY surprised that all my favorite books this year were non-fiction. That doesn't mean I didn’t read any good fiction this year, I definitely did. But the truly outstanding, five star books were all non-fiction. This is super weird for me because I never used to read non-fiction unless it was for school. But last year I made a deal with myself that I should have a non-fiction book as at least one of my books-in-progress at all times. I continued that rule this year and wow have I read some great stuff as a result.
Metrics:
Total books read in 2020: 87
If you remove all the books I read with kids, that’s 64. If you remove the books I read with kids and also graphic novels (which—despite being books, goddamn it—admittedly take a lot less time to read), I read 45 books this year.  I refuse to remove the audiobooks because that’s hella insulting.  Audiobooks are books.
One thing I noticed this year is that before I counted, I was under the impression that I had read a lot of books by Black authors this year, but I hadn't. In fact, it was far fewer than last year. I think part of what was internally confusing was that because two of my books were Caste and The Warmth of Other Suns, both substantial (in the thinking sense and the length sense), at any given time this year, I was reading at least one book by a Black author. So that skewed my thinking. Still, fewer than 10% Black authors is a poor metric.
Another thing I noticed was that cancelled plans for 10 months also means cancelled car trips (yay!) and cancelled audiobook listenings (boo!) So that cut into my total a bit, not listening to books as much with the kids. But I'm looking forward to lots more reading in the new year! Including finishing a bunch of books the kids and I are reading for school and tons of stuff for work. Because I like to have things going on every burner, there are 10 books in progress at the moment, about half of them for school.

Chapter Seven 7/9
Durand Home December 18, 2017 2:30 a.m.
Arielle woke up in a cold sweat, shivering violently, as she laid back down. She pulled the covers tighter around herself, the portable heater humming as it began to pump out more heat.
Another nightmare. Screaming bouncing inside her head, someone crying, and the cold. Always so cold.
“I am safe. I am home. I am safe. I am home,” she whispered the mantra she had been saying to herself, finding it helped to calm her down. Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes, the nightlight in the corner letting out a soft light.
Until this happened, she had blackout curtains on her windows, loving it as dark as possible. Now… now the dark was scary and she needed to have a nightlight, like some terrified little child.
Throwing back her covers angrily, she grabbed her robe and turned down the heater, leaving it just warm enough. Closing the door as she left the room, she shivered as she walked down the stairs and into the kitchen to make some tea.
She hoped not to wake her parents or her sister, but there was no chance she would be able to sleep any longer. She would be up most of the night now, the dream world too unpredictable. Once the sun was up, she would take a sleeping pill and sleep when it was safer.
Turning on the electric kettle, she got her cup ready and stood shivering until the water boiled. As the tea steeped, she set it on the dining room table and sighed, looking around at the dimly light room.
Her mother had put up nightlights everywhere to help her feel comfortable and at ease. They gave the room a cozy glow and for that she was thankful, so much out of her control right now.
Sighing again, she noticed the box at the end of the table and she walked over to it. As she looked at the contents, she smiled slightly. Great Grammy Corinne… she had been a character. She had so many stories and she swore they were as real as they could be without being completely factual; a statement which always made Arielle laugh.
She took out the book on top and sat down to look at it as she drank her tea. Reading through the stories, she shook her head at the thought of being a slave, bought and sold at a whim, taken from your family to never see them again. Tears filled her eyes as she thought of being in that situation, the fear they must have felt.
About to close the book, she saw a story that caught her attention, one she had liked and also been terrified of as a child: Elinor and Mary. Rereading the story, she began to feel a chill, her breathing becoming faster.
“Boudreaux…” she whispered, standing up from the table and bringing the book with her and walking to her mother’s study.
Turning on the light above the desk, she opened her mother’s laptop and entered the password, her heart racing. A few taps on the keyboard and she found what she was looking for. She saw the photos of the victims from the second attack and read the articles about it.
Taking deep breaths, she searched for information about the night she and the others were attacked. Finding them, she closed her eyes before she clicked on the links.
“I am home. I am safe. I am home. I am safe…” Opening her eyes, she clicked the first link.
Through tears that never seemed to stop, she read articles and looked at photos. She felt sick and frozen and yet she kept clicking, kept searching. There was something she needed to find, but she did not know what it was.
The last article she clicked on, she ended up on her feet, staring at the computer screen. It was an older article about areas of ruin around the city. Abandoned buildings, homes, churches. Some very old and some more recent.
It was not the words in the article that caused her to rise to her feet however, it was the photographs within it, or more accurately the tag underneath it.
There was a close up photo of a headstone in the church graveyard where they had been attacked. An old headstone that was  missing letters from the first name. Then there was a wide shot of the headstone and the statue across from it. Last was a close shot of the statue: a woman in a long dress, her hands at her breast, head turned to the side and her eyes downcast.
Photographs courtesy of Sally Sparrow.
“Cera…” Arielle whispered as she sat back down and hit print, the printer whirring quietly to life.
The pages printed out as she began searching for more information about the attacks, specifically the most recent one.
“Oh my god,” she breathed as she saw the list of victim names, finding Cera Lee within them. “Oh…” She stood up, grabbing the pages from the printer and leaving the room, knowing this had been what she was looking for.
She hurried to her bedroom and opened her side table drawer, taking out her cell phone and turning it on for the first time in weeks. The battery was nearly dead and she plugged it in, pacing the room as she looked at the clock.
Five in the morning.
Shaking her head, knowing if he was feeling like her, he would be awake. She picked up the phone and scrolled through her contacts, pressed send and closed her eyes, hoping she would get through.
Three rings and the phone was answered, though no words were spoken.
“Hello? Davis?”
“Arielle.”
“Yeah. It’s me.”
“Arielle… this is gonna sound crazy… but I’m… I’m almost to your house…” He sounded confused and not sure why he was driving to her house in the middle of the night.
“Good. I’ll going to get dressed and be out in a minute. We have some things we need to do.”
____________________
She was crying again, the sound echoing all around him. He could hear her, far away and right beside him, and he wished for the millionth time that he could reach her and hold her hand. Tell her it would be okay. But he was frozen in place, his body heavy even as it felt weightless.
Her sobs grew louder and he closed his eyes thinking of her smile and how her kiss had made his heart race.
Farrah.
T… Tyler? Tyler is that you?
His eyes flew open and he stared into the ever pressing darkness.
You can hear me? How? Why now?
I… I don’t know. Are we… speaking?
I don’t know.
He shook his head, not sure what to do or how this was possible. He had wanted to help her and now she sounded even more upset.
Tyler! Tyler, I… I don’t know where I am. Where… where am I? Where are you?
I don’t know, Farrah. What can you see?
Nothing. I can’t see anything. Just… darkness.
Me too.
What does that mean?
IT MEANS… a voice said, one he had not heard since that night in the graveyard, and he heard Farrah gasp. IT MEANS IT IS ALMOST TIME.
Farrah began to cry harder, deep sobs that broke his heart.
Tyler… I don’t know where I am… please… it’s so cold…
His anger began to grow and he swore when he found out who had done this, who had caused her this pain, he would kill them.

A Family Dinner
“When at last I returned to fair Syllada, I found that much had changed in my decades of absence. People I had known were now gone to live with the Gods. My family had shrunken considerably. My brother’s business has grown quite large. This, I suppose, was normal.
But what interested me at the time was the way my home saw that I had changed. I was a stranger in my own manor. My accent had shifted, now coarse and textured by the roads I had walked. I had scars and two fewer fingers than when I had left.
And, of course, I carried with me a myriad of journals. The same journals that became the book you are now reading.”
Enrico Ziani, The Journeys of a Wild Youth
Dinner was quiet. No one at the table spoke. There was scarcely the sound of utensils on plates. None were willing to disturb the silence.
Compared to the earlier festivities in town, there was an air of extreme discomfort. Lionel shifted awkwardly in his father’s seat- In his seat, situated at the head of the table. He looked to his right at the empty seat beside him, wishing he hadn’t asked his friends for privacy with his sisters.
He wished he had at least allowed Kalliste to join them.
Most of the Durand sisters were staring at their plates. The two youngest, Arianne and Corinne, wouldn’t even look in Lionel’s direction. They seemed nervous, afraid of what the new status quo would hold. Afraid of what Lionel might do.
Mirabelle, the remaining younger sister, stole the occasional glance in Lionel’s direction. She had more composure, to be sure, but it was clear to him that even she was unsure what to make of her brother.
Only Celeste, the eldest of the Durand children, was willing to look him in the eye. She hadn’t even touched her food.
Lionel wasn’t sure what to make of her expression. She seemed to regard him in much the same way a hunter would an unexpected bear. Dangerous, but a solvable problem.
Finally, the silence grew to be too much, and Lionel forced himself to speak.
“So, it’s been some years.” His measured tone hid well his grave worry. “I trust you’ve all been well?”
It was Celeste who spoke first. “Yes. I’ve been keeping myself busy managing the vineyards and winery, seeing as Father had been too busy to handle it himself of late.” She paused. It was a pointed, razor edged pause. “I suppose they shall remain my responsibilities permanently, if it please you. Your grace.”
If Lionel had thought her pause was pointed, her formal address was like a blade against his throat.
“There’s no need for formalities here, sister.” He considered a sip of water, anything to prolong the inevitable, but decided against it. “Besides. I’m not even formally the duke yet, and you have as much claim to the title as I.”
“Perhaps, but it is not my men who garrison Durandine.” Celeste brought her cup close, inspecting the fluid inside, before sipping the wine. “Neither is it my name in our departed father’s will.”
Lionel’s eyebrow cocked of its own volition. “What do you mean?”
“Two months before your prodigal return, Father suddenly felt a need to get his affairs in order.” She swirled her cup. “He spent many hours locked away in his office, talking to himself. Rambling about the state of the plan, whatever that means.”
Talking to himself, Lionel surmised, must have meant that he had been in contact with his fellow conspirators in the White Lily Society. It didn’t come as a surprise, but Lionel was shocked to hear about the will.
“You mean to say he named me his heir?”
Mirabelle chimed in, her voice wavering. “He brought us all to the throne room, along with all his advisors. He had us witness the whole thing, said it was important.” She suddenly grew nervous again and looked around for something else to be looking at. “We’ve all been left sizable estates, probably thanks to the Michaelis’ funding, but he left you the title.”
Lionel was still for a moment. He glared down at his plate, as if the cut of beef on it held some responsibility for what he had just heard. But it was only a moment before his anger exploded.
Lionel stood up sharply, sending his father’s chair crashing to the ground behind him, and he stormed over to a window. He paused a moment before pounding his fist against the wall.
“After all this time,” he said, his voice rapidly gaining in volume, “After all he put me through, he names me heir?”
Lionel whirled around to face his sisters once more. Mirabelle was consoling the two youngest. Celeste had slowly stood, cup of wine in hand, and moved to right the fallen chair.
“I would think this would be happy news,” Celeste said, “It will certainly mean less politicking to secure your place.”
Lionel gesticulated helplessly. “I didn’t- I wasn’t going to care who he’d picked as his heir. I’ve won the city, I bear our ancestral blade, I only washed his blood off my hands a scant few hours ago.”
Lionel let his hands fall to his sides in defeat. A knot was growing in his guts, and he felt as though he might faint he was so angry. “Durandine is mine by right of conquest. I took what Father said would never be mine. I fought him. Father, Corbin Durand, said to be the greatest duelist of the age. He told me I would never be his equal.”
Lionel pointed out the window, toward the chapel on the castle grounds.
“In that building, I killed him. Alone, I used everything I never learned from him. Everything I learned on the road, from my friends, from my partner. I put the family sword through his belly and I watched as he-”
Lionel threw his head back, covering his eyes with his hands. “You don’t need to hear this,” he began, but Celeste interrupted him.
“I want to. I want to hear it.” She threw the cup to the ground at Lionel’s feet, the red sheen of wine spreading over the stone floor. “Tell me.”
Lionel lowered his hands, and then his gaze. He met her eyes.
“In the Chapel, I met our father. We spoke. He degraded me, as he always did.” He shrugged. “Nothing new there. Nothing worth repeating. I told him I was done hearing it. Told him I demanded satisfaction. He obliged.”
Lionel patted his hip, where the hilt of the Sword of Stars would have been.
“We fought under the gaze of our Divine Mother. Moonlight was our only witness. We dueled for an hour straight, and frankly, I’m amazed no one heard the commotion in all that time. I’m more amazed I came out unscathed, but frankly...”
Lionel shook his head.
“If he’d so much as nicked me, I’m sure it would have been my death, but I escaped his blade. He wasn’t so lucky. I ran him through, burying that blade of starlight in his gut. He died choking on his own blood, cursing me for my folly, demanding I see to it that I win this war.”
Celeste looked away, her arms folded over her chest. “And you feel no guilt? This patricide weighs nothing upon your soul?”
Lionel sighed. “We’d always been close, sister. You know more than the others how heavily our father’s words weighed on me.” He spread his arms wide. “Patricide? Hardly. He didn’t raise me, he just beat me. Always told me what I was doing wrong, but could never teach me how to do it right. Always berated me and degraded me and abused me.”
Lionel suddenly stomped forward, bringing his boot down on the cup before him and scattering droplets of wine about.
“No, Celeste. I find, in comparison, patricide is a trivial burden.”

Stuff I’m Writing/Stuff My Brain Wants Me To Write
Because, let’s face it, I have an ever-increasing list of OCs, and I give out hardly any actual information about them unless I’m directly inside their heads. So I’m going to break this down by character. Under a cut, because it got loooong!
Princess Fabs
Protagonist of The Rose In The Crown series. I have totally stalled on her for the time being but have every intention of actually writing her wedding to Alistair and fulfilling my promise to my astounding giveaway winners by showcasing their cameos. With any luck, I will be back to her in reasonably short order - I have three more chapters to write.
Erin MacNamara
Protagonist of Thedas go Brách. As close to a true self-insert as I am ever going to get, Erin’s story is going to take a while to get going. I don’t know if it counts as an adventure, it really is more of a “learning to accept yourself as you are” type of story. I have no idea how regular or irregular my posting for her is going to be, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for a new chapter for a while.
Poppy Hawke
Protagonist of In Marcher Fields. As much as I adore my Poppy, I will be glad when her story is over. She’s suffered enough, dammit! ~laughs~ There are more couple-y moments, relationship landmarks, and angst-fests planned, but in case you’re wondering, my plan states there are nine chapters left to write. And if you can’t guess how it ends, then you really don’t know me at all. :P
Demelza Tabris
I have no plans for writing any kind of story with Demelza as my protagonist, but she is my only Warden. She’s already had a pretty significant secondary role in Fabs’ story, and a mention in Poppy’s (both different ‘verses!). I am very happy to write prompts for her, but no plans for a full narrative as such.
Doshiel Lavellan
Another one I have no plans for writing the full story for. Prompts are always welcome, of course. He will be a secondary character in Erin’s story, so there will be peripheral hints of his own narrative as and when she comes across them.
Corinne Delon
She’s already had a one-shot (Enough). Corinne is, however, a background character in Erin’s story. She will have interaction with Erin and others, but not to a hugely significant degree. Her own story can be told via the means of prompts, which I am always open for.
Cedric Durand
I have plans for him becoming a significant secondary character in Erin’s story. As a Modern Guy in Thedas himself, there is plenty of potential to take a peep at his backstory, but as yet, no plans and no inspiration to do that.
Xena Cadash
You may have noticed that she’s the Inquisitor in Poppy’s story. I would quite like to do a month challenge with Xena at some point, if I can find/make a prompt list that I’m happy with - I really want to write that Varric romance if I can!
Talasa Adaar
Currently undergoing a month challenge, having taken me in an entirely different direction to the one I was expecting to go! I think, once the month is done, I will have her out of my system and she’ll be retired, but it all depends on how the inspiration flows.
Rumor/Callum Hawke
I have not forgotten them! I actually have their first chapter written up, but I think it requires a rethink about how I’m going to approach it. The full narrative line is overwhelming as is. But yes, the plan is to actually write Rumor and Callum’s story as and when my brain frees up the space.
Mila Trevelyan
My Modern AU protagonist (Dear Friend). Mila is not forgotten, but I think her story will continue on in occasional prompts and short one-shots, added to Not Always In Writing as and when they happen.
Enaste Lavellan
The protagonist of my first month challenge that resulted in Touching Grace. Unfortunately, apart from the occasional prompt, she has definitely taken a backseat in my mind and may be close to retirement.
Anne Trevelyan
I have every intention of writing her story, which will begin after the Exalted Council, and is a marriage of convenience romance. Anne will be a challenge to write, because I don’t want to offend in writing her as disabled, but at the same time, I don’t want to give her a sudden fix-it prosthesis. Losing the arm is a huge part of her developed personality and the way she looks at the world, and I’d like to explore that. This one is going to have to wait until I have managed to scrape together the money to get hold of Sebastian’s DLC for DA2, because I really do know nothing about him apart from “used to be horny, now he’s a priest/prince”.
Rory Allen
... has well and truly gone to bed on me. I’ve tried writing for her a few times over the last few months, and got nothing for my trouble. She’s retired.

Up Ladybug - Meet The Quantic Kids (Analyzer)
Tumblr media
Claude Savard
Claude Savard is a happy-go-lucky teenager who likes basketball, mime performance and hanging out with his friends. He is bold, loving the idea of having adventures with his friends and experiencing new things. He is childhood friends with Bridgette Cheng and often acts like a protective brother towards her due to her past experiences with bullies. Claude appears to be quite perceptive, being able to pick on Bridgette’s mood changes and trying to find a way to cheer her up. He appears to dislike Félix Agreste due to the latter’s aloof behavior and his own belief that Félix might hurt Bridgette in some way, establishing a bit of a rivalry between the two.
*Note: Claude Savard is the civilian persona of Kid Mime.
Allegra Baudelaire
Allegra Baudelaire is someone who sees herself as the ‘voice of reason’ in her friend group. Mature, organized, intuitive and candid, she prides herself in her identity as the class representative, believing in her abilities to help out her fellow classmates with their problems. She is also a member of the school band, playing the flute, and her interest in music led her to become close friends with Carmilla Brigante. Allegra usually approaches a situation from a logical standpoint, being the type to questions things before coming to a conclusion.
*Note: Allegra Baudelaire is the civilian persona of Melodie.
Allan Durand
Allan Durand is a calm, smart and relaxed teenager with a love for video games, technology and music. He tends to stream his playthroughs under the alias Limit_Breaker, often noting that there is a solution to every problem and that nothing is impossible. He usually commissions Bridgette to draw him new avatar images for his gamer profile. Allan is close with his older sister, Corinne Durand, who is the founder, lead guitarist and vocalist of the rock band Fléchette Stars, but doesn’t see her often due to her touring the country. Being down-to-earth, Allan cares a lot about his friends and when they have issues, he prefers to talk to them in private and give them advice that would guide them to the solution to their problems.
*Note: Allan Durand is the civilian persona of Gavroche.
Sophie Renard
Sophie Renard is a sassy, sharp and outspoken teenager with a love for fashion design; being especially interested in the Agreste brand. She designs and sews her own clothes and tends to collaborate with Bridgette on her projects. She is confident, fun-loving, easy-going and has no filter when it comes to defending her friends. She is also not afraid of calling out people on their rude behavior. Despite her seemingly mellow attitude, she can have quite a temper, especially when it comes to things she doesn’t tolerate.
*Note: Despite being based on an early concept of Alya Cesairé/Rena Rouge, Sophie Renard is the civilian persona of Sparrow.
