Okay, someone brought up Alice in Wonderland and Coraline as books of the same genre which is kind of blowing my mind.
#haven't thought it out yet or formulated the thoughts but they're right#i just don't quite know how this fits my schema of weird little girl books yet#unfortunately i quite detested alice last time i read and was wholeheartedly inside coraline's head last time i read#coraline was a very relatable protagonist and alice was kind of annoying#(i mean part of it is because i never liked alice whereas coraline lived rent free in my head for years#and also i liked coraline-the-character whereas i couldn't stand alice#though that might come from the fact that i read coraline in like second grade and AiW in probably sixth grade or later)#(the other part of it is that coraline is actually cool and alice cries a lot and all of my mental daydream characters#were super cool aloof awesome characters who never cried#unlike yours truly who was neither cool nor aloof)
