Chaplain it is

He is a kind person but not a very nice one; definitely suffers from that Midwestern faux politeness where he will hold a door for 20 people but be mentally kicking them the whole time

He’s funny! He’s got an odd sense of humor especially compared to the loud ‘who’s on first?’ shenanigans going on with the rest of the cast, but it’s totally there (e.g- thinking maybe he would’ve made a good paratrooper, the dancing and shadowboxing)

He’s bad at his job. This has a lot of layers to it and it’s not always in the way he thinks, but one of my favorite things Heller has ever said in an interview is that Yossarian is less of an atheist than he would have people believe and the chaplain is more of one <3

He’s a dad. Does his best to do right by his kids even when he gets it wrong, and it cracks me up that he broods so much over how best to educate Whitcomb and make him like him (I think his sister is also younger than he is; eldest sibling energy)

He’s doesn’t really mind being alone (this changes after he meets Yossarian because of course it does), which is So Good in contrast to Cathcart dreading going back to his empty farmhouse

He doesn’t notice it at first, but after a while he notices and get ready because he’ll be giving you compliments all the time.

BEGS that you let him try on your glasses. It doesn't matter if he sees blurry, he WANTS to try on your glasses.

“I can't see anything 😀”

He spends ALL day looking at you. He loves your new look and can't stop staring at how beautiful you look.

If you feel insecure, better prepare yourself for ALL THE COMPLIMENTS that this baby’s going to give you.

She makes you swear that next time you should take her to choose a frame of glasses with her. If you don't, get ready because she's going to hunt you down.

Oh, and you better not say anything about feeling insecure with your glasses because she's going to slap you. To her you look BEAUTIFUL (you look beautiful, ok? Never think otherwise.)

This cutie would be looking at you for a while. It's not like he's never seen someone with glasses, as Maki has glasses, but seeing you with glasses surprised him a bit.

He'll think they look super cute on you and that you look pretty.

He'd grab your glasses and put them on. If you think that Inumaki wouldn't be teasing you by doing this, consider it for a moment.

Just out of curiosity and/or boredom, she asks you if she can try them on, but, like Kugisaki, she takes them off quickly when seeing blurred.

She'll never admit it, but she likes to see you in glasses.

(I apologize in advance because I still haven't read the mangas and I don't really know what Yūta's personality is like, but I've read a bit about him and I have more or less an idea of what is he like. Again I apologize if I say something that maybe it's not.)

With that said, let's continue with the last character in this first part.

Trust me, he's going to notice your glasses, but it's going to take him a while to tell you something about that.

Contrary to what he thought was going to happen, which was that you were going to get mad at him or insult him, you thanked him.

He'd swear he's not looking at you if it weren't for Maki poking him with her stick for being distracted.

He would ask questions about your eyesight and if you feel comfortable with your glasses.

It might sound a bit ironic, but he'd give little compliments so you don't feel insecure. And yes, he had to gather a lot of confidence to say the compliments to you.
