Some days I like to enter a fantasy world where I look at different rewards credit cards and I think about how I will be so cool and slick using This one to buy gas and This one to buy little treats to maximize the rewards I get. Anyway I imagine this and then I think oh god i do not want to keep track of this at all actually.

So it turns out I hit upon the perfect credit card combination for me which is one with a flat rewards rate and one with rotating quarterly reward categories that I still can barely remember and I don't carry a balance and every time I cash out rewards I still get to feel a little smug. You thought you'd get me to pay you interest. You thought you were gonna get me. You're not getting me. I'm getting you. My credit score is so high

#i also have one from my credit union that i opened when i entered college that is my oldest line of credit but i don't use it #it has one recurring charge and an automatic payment each month #just to keep it open because it's old

you know someday i'm gonna feel so good when i have my student loans paid off

that ain't gonna be soon, trust me, but i think about it

#i've been saving so much for it that i paid off over like $2k in the last 2 or 3 months #it's just thinking about how the amount of interest goes off that drives me literally crazy #and my monthly amount i owe is like just under $120 #which to some people as a regular bill is more manageable than others. but as i have an irregular income #as a substitute teacher it's something that gives me a LOT of stress.#which is another reason i've been overpaying. in case something happens/i can't get a lot of work #it defers the next due date.#that way it's not urgent but yet i still *feel* it all the time #debt is a crazy kind of thing #and to think that my loans are from COMMUNITY college. two years. publicly owned #when i start taking classes again soon. i currently have enough saved that if i take like ONE class #i can pay out of pocket. and i think im only gonna take one class to start anyway #which will also help with the deferred payments #see i just fucking hate having to think practically about money like this #tales from diana #idk how ppl leave high school and go straight to live in a dorm room at a private university for four straight years #and rack up tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.#first of all that lifestyle was not accessible for me to begin with. even when paying it was such an abstract put-it-off thought #as it is for so many 18-year-olds who are told not to worry about where they apply.#but i had under $12k to repay when the student loan debt was unfrozen last fall #and it's been weighing on me soooo heavily since then. i think about it every damn day #it's like the money i make isn't even mine. it goes straight to mohela and food #keep in mind i also live w my parents & am on their health insurance so someday there'll be moooore bills!!!!

i had already graduated high school by the time i turned 17

i was always just a boring nerd with overprotective and overbearing parents

no money to do much outside of waiting for college to start

i wasn't allowed to work bc. reasons

closeted af + on a shitty relationship

so me being 17 can be divided in two periods:

sad. rotting in bed. coping mechanisms: musicals and a guy that wasn't good for me, apparently.

baby's first semester on premed/medschool/whatever. sad. stressed. really just nightmarish times.

it's not a big deal that i don't relate, bc actually i do, but i just find the difference funny lol

My mother confuses the fuck out of me

#i guess she's getting severance checks from her old job?#i mean fuck that's the least they could do after she worked there for 40 years #she only gets 900 a month from my dad's SSI survivor benefits #she went from saying we're struggling financially to suddenly offering to pay for shit i need #that kinda scares me because i think that means she's impulsively spending her savings. which could mean she thinks she's gonna die soon #she's 64 and my dad died at almost 63 #like she helped my sister buy my niece a car. it's a 24 year old vehicle and only costed 4k and she paid 2k but 2k is a LOT to us #she said she's been saving my rent money to fix my car for the past couple of months on top of me saving for it #which means we definitely have the money to fix everything by now #but that's not happening all my tires still need to be replaced my ac doesn't work it's making clinking sounds #it stalled while i was driving the other day but turning it off and restarting it fixes it #anyway. the thing is I'm always sus about my mom offering shit.#she likes to hold shit over your head.#I'm very worried that she's gonna fix my car and then use that to control me in some way. because that's how it is every time.#but like.....it's better than not having the help. fuck.#i feel so privileged despite how broke and disabled i am. bc most disabled people dont have this to fall back on #the craziest thing is that the only reason we have this house is bc of my grandparents' inheritance #and neither of them went to college my grandpa was in the army #and my grandma only temporarily worked for jc penney as a bookkeeper #side note my 80 year old grandma was better with computers than most elderly people are today #just from that job? from what i know #when she died my family sold the family house and that's how we put the down payment on this house #which btw only costed 64k in 2012 apparently it's worth 175k now according to zillow #but like. how. i feel like my family being white and christian is the only reason we have all this privilege #i have a headache bye #.bdo

got into a study abroad program for this spring..... not entirely sure if i can make it happen financially but i am sure going to try

#all of my federal aid transfers and that covers more than half of the program cost #but still leaves quite a bit left to pay and i need to make a confirmation deposit like. Soon #i did get an extension on the deposit im just not sure til when yet... gives me time to apply to + hear back from scholarships tho #i already planned on working my ass off this upcoming semester and saving a bunch of money but like #i was going to save it for getting an apartment and shit AFTER college #idk idk it really comes down to scholarships i guess #if i can get my out of pocket payment down to like. 2000 or less. (emphasis on the Or Less.) then i can actually manage that probably #but right now it's looking to be around 7000 and that doesnt even include yknow. pocket money for while im There #anyway point being cross ur fingers for me!!! i rly rly wanna go #audie talks

my impulse decision for the night was to just pay off my student loans out of spite which means i will wake up sometime in the next couple months to a news story about the sweeping student loan forgiveness they tried to give us a couple years ago going into effect bc that would be my luck

#having this shit is not worth whatever credit score it gives me goodbye #i'm not going to keep making payments for another ten years to qualify for pslf thanks #paying for the privilege of marking everything from the dept of education as spam in my email for the rest of my life #this has been a useless text post you may now resume your normal programming #i have so much bitterness about the way college played out for me and i would like to never think about it again so BE GONE
