Gina , what it means he erased O from Harry's House ? I thought people think the song as it was alludes to her and cinema about her ?
Well, people might think that, but he never spoke about either being about her and he didn’t mention her at all in connection to the album.
Also, literally the only reason people think As It Was is connected to her is because of a single line “Leave America, two kids follow her.” There’s nothing about that song that that sounds like a love song or a romantic relationship song IMO. I see more people speculating that song is about his parents divorce. In fact, he’s said the song is about a really devastating time in his life, so it was weird to see people dancing to it. I really don’t think it has anything to do with Olivia.
As for cinema, i think this theory that he wrote that song from the POV of Jack Chambers is so compelling. He alluded to writing while he was filming and a lot of us thought it would be MP that inspired him, but the way this theory is laid out, I really think they’re right.
Honestly, I think Harry worked overtime to make sure we all knew when songs were written and what they were about so no one could connect anything to her. That’s how much he disliked her.

I had a personal messaging convo about this with a reader who has deleted her blog and she said she felt Cinema was about voyeurism, that Harry is the peeping Tom and sm is the person who’s privacy he’s invading by watching her in her home. She said the energy off it felt toxic and wrong.
Lolol like in his dreams? Or like he’s out her window?
I’m sticking with porn.

How do you write
How do you do the typey typey and have it word good
How do you word so englishly
You know what I mean rieueghuvt maeyfee?
Yehwhe?
Uhhhhhhhhhhh well. Look. This is a very broad way of approaching how writing happens and I am not in the right headspace (sobriety) to answer it in an articulate manner but just. Man you just gotta think real hard sometimes.
Writing is just a lot of thinking and research stacked atop itself in a trench coat.
A lot of people have said very smart things about how to write in better words than I can and they all have some form of truth in them but writing is art and art is subjective and it's different for everyone.
The one thing I can definitely say is to just know what you're writing. In many ways. Like. When I started writing I would get mad at myself for what I'd created because it wasn't right but I didn't actually know what I was wanting. I was just trying to write things and getting mad when I didn't hit that goal post but that's not a goal post that's just a fucking telephone pole you mistook because of all the fog. Why is it a telephone pole, you're supposed to be on a field? You've actually walked off the field. You didn't know where you were going.
You get me?
Be kind to yourself as a writer. If you don't know what you want don't be mad at yourself because you didn't magically do it. If you've never achieved something narratively before then it's not gonna magically happen because you threw up some words on a page. That's what drafts are for, to figure out what the hell you want when you have no idea what that thing really is.
Art is making stuff out of nothing and writing is no different. Sometimes things happen easy and sometimes they don't. Sometimes things happen and they're not what you want, but they let you figure out what it is you don't want. You can fill in the negative space from what you don't want. That's what practice is really. It's just filling pages and saying 'well that wasn't it, let's give it another crack but not do it Like That this time'.
Sometimes you find it easy, sometimes it takes time. That doesn't make you bad. That doesn't make you less of a writer. That just means you're still halfway through making the thing.
Idk I'm not @neil-gaiman

Songs Not Even Nominated | Tales From Hollywoodland
Classic songs go with Oscar telecasts, but it’s simply amazing how many classics were never nominated in the Best Song category. This week on Tales from Hollywoodland, Arthur, Julian, and Steve examine the musical track record of the Academy Awards, wondering aloud how so many songs not only didn’t receive Oscar gold but weren’t even nominated – “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, “Singin’ in the Rain,” “To Sir with Love,” “Staying Alive” – they all came up empty.

What is your opinion on the Beetlejuice 2 Dream Theory?
This theory?
My opinion is that it's very likely to be true. I walked away from the cinema extremely happy with all of the shippy moments—so happy I hadn't even considered theorising anything yet, however my first thought about the ending was, So it was all Lydia's dream?
I read through the post and was blown away by how much sense it made, but I think it helped push me to believe it when my friend sent me this
My friend is not interested in theorising or shipping, and has no connection to the BJ fandom, he's just a horror fan. Yet his interpretation of the movie's ending was a summarised version of the whole dream theory. Isn't it far more romantic to imagine Lydia having spent her life with Betelgeuse, and he's indulging her with a dream of her own child? Considering they both have a 'psychic connection', I'm not convinced that Lydia hasn't been thinking about BJ just as much as he's been thinking about her.
This user pointed out both of Betelgeuse's love songs are by artists named Richard, conveniently the name of Lydia's previous partner. The same partner who was described as a horror fan that loved playing pranks, and dressed as a Beetlejuice lookalike for Halloween.
Looks like Beetlejuice, acts like Beetlejuice—either Lydia is equally obsessed, or it's BJ projecting himself onto Lydia's human lover within the dream. Watching the movie with new eyes, I noticed in the "Later, fucker" scene that BJ is sitting in the same place Richard sat while working at the border control. "Astrid" herself has a name related to the celestial bodies, much like "Betelgeuse". You can either take this as a romantic parallel, or Tim is trying to show us that Richard's creation is based on Lydia's fixation with Beetlejuice.
Dream sequences often use characters to represent something within the dreamer's psyche. It's like an abstract analysis of the way that character thinks and feels. Astrid's sequence within the dream shows Lydia's material desires—it confirms everything was based off of what Lydia wanted, which included getting married to a 'monster' (in the sequence of events, Astrid marries a guy dressed as a vampire), and then gives birth to the Beetlebaby. I know in the first movie there is a reference to the horror movie "The Fly", so I imagine this was too.
Did anyone notice the dream sequence watching Astrid didn't actually have a clear indication for when it began? It transitioned from the movie as if everything was a dream right from the start.
Let's not forget BJ straight up looking into the camera and saying "I love a good dream sequence". Lol.
My other reasoning for believing the dream theory is what Winona said about Lydia. Winona and Tim are close friends. Winona pitched the idea of having Betelgeuse and Lydia be the endgame ship in her words, and she happily took part in this movie. If Tim had rejected the idea, why would Winona reprise her role for a story she didn't agree with? Winona knows that Lydia is Tim's self insert (Tim has said many times he relates the most to Lydia), so why would Tim approve of all the shippy moments if he opposed Winona's pitch? No one knows Lydia like him!
Winona said in this interview that she hadn't imagined Lydia ever becoming a mother, but that after a while it started to make sense. She does not elaborate on that, but explains her idea for Lydia was that she would end up a spinster in the attic. If you read the dream theory, it highlights how the movie begins with Lydia in the attic, and then transitions to Lydia's TV show, but the background is still the attic. I found the whole film very dreamlike in this way, and I think the fact that Tim has said Wizard of Oz (a movie where the girl wakes up after a dream, in which those she knew acted as characters within the sequence) is one of his favourite movies helps to put it into effect.
And finally...
It's Lydia Deetz. Lydia loves the strange and unusual.. do you really think she wasn't curious enough to contact Beej again?
#beetlebabes#beetlejuice 2#beetlejuice beetlejuice#please read the full theory though 👀#i only touched the surface#asks#theories

god ride the cyclone is the fucking musical ever. a rat named Virgil that's going to kill the narrator (a paranormal fortune telling machine) in like an hour plays the bass. you're then immediately introduced to five children that are brutally killed in a roller coaster accident and have their hopes and dreams and everything they loved taken away from them. an unidentified headless body depicted as having her doll's head appears and sings a very woeful introduction to her character and then asks if her purgatory-mate would like to brush her dolly's hair and then recites a fact about how when a lioness has children she stops making love to the lion. the lion gets jealous. sometimes so jealous he eats the children. you would think this would upset the lioness. far from it. they make love again like the children never existed. she finds that idea terrifying. the paranormal fortune telling machine is able to move the children's bodies against their will for choreography and "catchphrases" and this is shown to be something they're discomforted by initially but continues nonetheless through the rest of the musical. ocean tears down all of her friends in her song to come back to life until she's told they decide who comes back through unanimous vote. you laugh for half a second before you remember that even if she's initially stuck up and conceited her song was an attempt from the soul of an innocent dead teenager who died for no reason to try to plead to come back to life. noel has fantasies of being a sex worker in post-war france and dying of typhoid flu driven by his love of french new wave cinema (mischa calling him tragic later is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to him). mischa recites a very precise and accurate analysis of the meaning of Saw VI but calls it Saw V. you listen to a very silly hip-hop rap before you listen to one of the most heartbreakingly loving songs you've ever heard and you hear "I lay my masculinity at the altar of your maidenhood" and you wonder how this is the same musical where the rat played the bass. you go from a song about a teenage boy saving an alien race of cat girls by breeding with them all to a mournful and breathtaking song about a jane doe's complete lack of identity besides the fact that she is dead and without an identity and the fact that she spends the whole song not begging to come back to life but begging to know who she is. her purgatory-mates get her a party hat and an old hello kitty cupcake and a cape and you sob when this choir made up of dead children make up a new birthday song that doesn't require a name so this jane doe can have a good new birthday because they finally don't see her as a freaky and eerie character but as a dead child just like them who can't remember who she is and they treat her like one of their own even though none of them recognize her from their choir. the last thing constance did before riding the cyclone was lose her virginity to a thirty year old and you try very hard not to think about how horrible that is. the girl that had been selfish the entire musical is given the final vote and is given a chance to vote for herself and she honors the original rules so she can give a new life to jane doe and everyone agrees. these children watch jane's new life play out and you think about how much they all deserved new lives too. it's both the most fun and most sad fucking musical you've ever listened to. fuck.
#and then you realize you got into it like 3 years too late for there to be an active fandom 🙃#long post#mine#ride the cyclone

Is it JK’s eye in the Screen? / Is WHO LGBTQ Coded?
instagram
So Fake Love by BTS was about love that was destined but ended up being fake. I think WHO is a similar concept.
Jimin is singing about Who is the Love has his heart, but has yet to find her. However, with all the hints, clues and symbolism of the LGTBQ community, I believe he is saying society, fans etc,. expect him to find a woman, but he has already found the love of his life in JK. He gives a subtle nod with the billboard screen that fell that showed his eyes. Also the phrase Keep Going on the screen coupled with the led screen for JK’s Coming Soon for Cinema has similarities. Is there a correlation?
OT7 and vmin say the eyes are Tae. But there is no mole. I think they are JK and Jimin has subtly done what he and JK wanted to do; show they are in love, they are partners, they are each other’s ride and die!
They enlisted together and they vacation together. They mentioned GCFT and they talk about we will see the real JM and JK. Will it be bro-code? Yes, but their chemistry and togetherness will come through!
Love these two and Jimin has a brilliant album that talks about being in love.
**************
After watching the video multiple times and reading analysis with others, I have come up with more clues. I left this comment on a post on some site.
If you go back and watch the video, it appears most of it is in a dream state or parallel world. At the very beginning you actually hear all the sounds the ambient sounds such as the car driving by, car horns, people walking. Then he starts singing and all the ambient sounds go away. There are mechanics working in the background and you don’t hear any of that. They are ignoring all the dancers. Then the next sound you hear is the billboard dropping with JK’s eye (Tae has a mole under his eye). Then back to this alternate/parallel world with no ambient noise. There are glitches in the video, you have fake tornado’s and fireworks that you don’t hear. Cars turning over. No sound. Then after his last verse, who is my heart waiting for, he is walking and you hear all the ambient noise again. His footsteps, the cars, sirens. Back to reality. He is walking that red line that JK walked in Standing Next to You. I believe he is singing about what society expects of him regarding a relationship. Being with a girl. However, the whole promo and album is lgbtq coded. All the other songs are love songs as if he is already in love with someone. Jimin through his music, paintings, photo books has been telling us he supports and/or is part of the community. Many believe JM and JK have been in a relationship for years. There are plenty of clues from the promo as well. Muse is about what inspired Jimin to find love. He clearly sings about it. He co-wrote all the songs except WHO. He told the writer what he wanted to convey. Jimin and JK are doing as much as they can get away with confirming who they are and what they mean to each other. In the song Who, he never identifies a women who has his heart. He walks away. This song is so coded, but for those who don’t want to see or can’t see, the song fits his pop persona where people of all genders love his songs and can relate. No different than Ricky Martin, George Micheal singing to and about women. But we all know they eventually came out. Yet, they would still sing love songs between men and women. Sam Smith and Troy Sivoan went the route of singing about gay love As we know, both JK and JM love them both, especially Troy.

All forms of media/art are allowed! Editing a video, writing a fanfiction, formulating a headcanon or an analysis. Editing a graphic or a creating a moodboard. Recording an audio or a musical composition, creating a playlist of songs, get out your cosplay or do a photo shooting with some merch you own, maybe give a recommendation to a fanart or fanfiction! Let’s get creative! Everything is welcome!
Don’t be shy with liking and reblogging each other’s work.
Will you reblog my work?
Heck yeah! Please use the hashtag #ZekinaWeek24 as the first tag or mention this blog in your description @tacosandtouchtanks
Why Zekina and not Zina?
Glad you asked, phantom person that I use as a stand-in! Zināʾ (زِنَاء) or zinah (زِنًى or زِنًا) is an Islamic legal term referring to unlawful sexual intercourse. (Wikipedia)
I think it would be disrespectful towards islamic peoples believes to use it as a ship name as well as considering the meaning “unlawful sex” of all kinds… I don’t think it would be a good ship name.
Meanwhile Zekina is only a name and surname in a couple of countries, so basically free for grabs! Let’s go with that!
Rules:
Everyone is welcome to participate.
This is an event to celebrate the romantic involvement of Tina and Zeke from the show Bob’s Burgers, but portrayals of them as friends are welcome too! (But no other ships with either of them.)
No reposting of other peoples work! (Sharing a link is fine, using graphics and scenes from the show is also fine.)
You do not need to have a tumblr blog to participate. However, if you are not blogging on tumblr and would like to see your work featured on this blog, I need you to submit it. (You can stay anonymous if you want to)
Sharing links to your works from other social media sites (Ao3, twitter, instagram) as a submission is absolutely fine
Don’t worry if you’re no native speaker. Use the language you feel most comfortable with!
(I don’t feel like it should have to be said but…) No bashing on other artists’ works or harassing others. Zeke and Tina would never approve of bullying, and neither will I.
Please help to spread the word with spreading this post.
Have fun! <3

Psycho Analysis: Buffalo Bill
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
Back in 2019, I started Psycho Analysis with a review of one of cinema’s most overshadowed and underrated villains. Now that I’m better at this, I've decided I'm redoing those old reviews, giving them a fresh coat of paint, fitting them into the modern Psycho Analysis style, and updating the scores. I figured there’s no better place to start than with good ol’ Jame Gumb.
Jame Gumb (yes, Jame, he doesn’t have an “S” in his name) is the enigmatic serial killer from The Silence of the Lambs known as Buffalo Bill. He’s left a trail of flayed women in his wake, his motives unknown, and it’s up to Clarice Starling to stop him with a little help from a smarmy cannibal asshole. He’s the perfect sort of twisted, perverted freak you’d hope to find in a grim, gritty detective story. In fact, he almost seems a bit uncontroversial and unremarkable in terms of villains, doesn’t he?
Oh, if only. Unfortunately, there are aspects of Bill’s character that have made him the second most controversial villain of 90s cinema after Ray Finkle from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. And we’re going to discuss all of that, because the big question when discussing Bill ultimately isn’t whether he’s good or bad, but is he good despite the unfortunate implications he ends up carrying due to what is and isn’t adapted from the book?
Motivation/Goals: Bill just wants to play dress up. Unfortunately, his idea of dressing up involves skinning women and then sewing said skin into a woman suit he can wear to dance about in his underground dungeon, penis tucked between his legs. To accomplish this Ed Gein-esque goal, he uses the playbooks of other killers like Ted Bundy to lure in unsuspecting women of considerable girth, traps them in a well in his basement, and forces them through a strict skin care regiment until it’s time to kill and skin them.
All of this is just incredibly fucked up, and also isn’t elaborated on to quite the degree the novel does due to Bill not being a character we focus on to gain real insight into. The full reveal of his plan is a shocking twist, but we don’t have the full psychological scope of his actions that was laid bare in the novel; while it doesn’t diminish Gumb in my opinion, it does leave the door open for some… problematic readings of what he’s up to, which we’ll discuss later.
Performance: While I don’t think I could possibly say he is an actor who manages to achieve the lofty heights of Hopkins, Ted Levine is still absolutely fantastic in his role. He’s an actor who always manages to inject his characters with a sort of unsettling air; just look at his brief appearance in Shutter Island if you need proof of this. Those skills are put to good use here, as he manages to make Gumb truly unnerving, and arguably far more realistic in his depiction of a serial killer than Lecter is.
Final Fate: After stalking Clarice Starling through his blackened basement while wearing night vision goggles, the tables are turned on Bill and the hunter becomes the hunted as Clarice unloads her gun into him. It’s a rather fitting death; as he preyed on women at their most vulnerable, it only makes sense that a woman strip him of all his power when he appears to be in control.
Evilness: I really don’t think there is any good argument against Bill getting the full 10/10. I mean, the man skins women so that he can wear their skin as a suit. How much fucking worse can a person even be in a story like this? It says a lot that Lecter comes off as more reasonable and less evil than the guy (even though this is decidedly not the case).
Best Scene: You know what it is:
youtube
And it’s even Jay and Silent Bob approved!
youtube
Really gotta compliment the song choice here; Q Lazzarus’ ominous dance tune “Goodbye Horses” forever had its image altered by its use here, but it really heightens the mood and feeds in to the unsettling nature of Bill’s dance. You can’t hear the opening notes of the song without this scene immediately coming to mind. And to think, its inclusion was all because she happened to pick up director Johnathan Demme in her taxi during a blizzard and showed him her demo tape.
Best Quote: From the above scene, Bill drops one of the most famous serial killer quotes in cinematic history:
“Would you fuck me? I’d fuck me. I’d fuck me so hard.”
Final Thoughts & Score: Buffalo Bill is horrendously underrated as a villain, though clearly there are some out there who appreciate him (Seth Green for example, who based Chris Griffin’s voice in Family Guy off of Buffalo Bill’s). That being said, the movie unfortunately ends up dipping into problematic territory as by excising most of the elaboration from the novel, Bill can unfortunately be read as an unflattering depiction of a trans woman.
Now you and I know that isn’t true, and anyone else who has read the book knows it isn’t true, but do you really think the average moviegoer in the early 90s cared about that? They see the freaky man dancing around with his schlong tucked away, wearing a woman’s skin, and find it unsettling and grotesque. It is incredibly easy to see how someone could see this as something akin to a villain in a crappy JKR detective novel, and it really didn’t have to be that way because the book really goes out of its way to not demonize trans people; while a bit outdated by modern standards, the book explains that trans people are not inherently violent and that Gumb is merely deluding himself into believing he is trans as some sort of warped justification for his actions. It even pointing out he was rejected for gender reasignment surgery. The movie has a few lines, but that’s kind of disappointing compared to the original novel, isn’t it? Then again, perhaps over-explaining would lead to the same criticisms the ending of Psycho gets, where laying things out for the audience in a way that tries not to demonize marginalized individuals is seen as tacky and unneeded.
Considering that Gumb was inspired by real life killers and their motivations (particularly Ed Gein, who has a higher number of fictional characters inspired by him than he does victims) and because I read the book, I don’t necessarily find his portrayal all that offensive, but I am a cis guy. If you do find his character tasteless, I won’t exactly blame you. It’s a rather unfortunate side effect of the transition from book to film that we lost the details that would ameliorate the problematic image of the character. With all that said, I still think he gets an 8.5/10. He’s certainly not as iconic as Lecter is and he’s too problematic to score any higher, but he is a very effective villain for the film he’s in and Levine’s performance is chilling and entrancing.
If nothing else, his existence led to the greatest open RP of all time. That’s gotta count for something.

just saw this and kinda makes sense, do you think it could be possible? twitter(.)com/dipyouinharry/status/1573883927340941312?t=3gK8s_MG0dDJfI20xvrNMA&s=19
Hi, love. Yeah, I think it makes total sense. I was honestly expecting songs on the album to be written from the POV of Tom and My Policeman because he mentioned in an interview something along the lines of that he hadn’t expected to write while he was filming, but he was inspired by his characters. I don’t know why I hadn’t considered him writing from Jack’s POV. He did say on the Howard Stern show that Cinema was a love song, and Jack would certainly see what he was doing as love.

The thing about Rocky Horror Picture Show (srry my mom and also my friends no offence) is, I also dislike it. I like it's songs and also old now-problematic gay rep is still gay rep.
Personally I just never really liked the tone or the character of Frank-n-furter especially- but also in how it's treated as the definitive horror musical and how it's "SUCH a magical experience!" when clearly like...no...it was/is a magical midnight movie experience for some people but when you try and insist I have the exact same experience/love/adoration for that thing that you have...sorry but I just really hate that attitude. I try to avoid that as much as possible with my own fandoms and getting newbies in- imposing a way you're supposed to feel only makes you feel more isolated for just not feeling it, and so makes you more resentful.
Point being: it's overrated and it was overhyped to me, both as an experience and a movie. Little Shop, Phantom and Sweeney Todd will always mean more to me as musicals too. EVEN SO- Rocky Horror is so influential to musicals, genre films, horror, horror comedy, camp and be movies, gay cinema (I could go on and on) that if nothing else you ought to respect it. Not love or even like it- but respect it.
Lily is such a bad fan+critic+media analysis that she actively makes me disagree with my own opinion and want to defend the thing I dislike from her. I can only imagine that's how Vivziepop must've felt when she tried and failed -as so many often do- to sit through Lily's SU video; "omg no THAT's not what's wrong* with it, and if it is what's wrong holy shit girl wtf is your deal?!"
It's one thing to be blunt abt disliking Rocky Horror. If Lily was all "I hate this movie; Frank n Furter is a grapist, even Lindsay Ellis agreed back in the day. Also it's fans are annoying and I dislike the music ick", there'd be an outcry but honestly I've heard worse and guys it is just a musical. People matter more than things. But OF COURSE, Lily can't do that. No, she has to put everyone who's ever liked the damn musical under fire and call them 'bad' and 'boring' and 'creepy'. She has to insinuate things about their personal lives over them liking the horny stupid sex dragshow and how their interest is inherently "bad gay rep". No nuance. It's not HER gay rep so it's not allowed to be ANYONE'S REP, apparently.
If you wanna see someone make harsh but fair take down of Rocky Horror (moreso it's fandom, tho I'd argue that in the case of the film experience they're kind of one in the same) and then also get some nice gay rep in yourself to balance it out, watch Tuca and Bertie season 2. Actually, watch Tuca and Bertie however you can and also probably Rocky Horror again if that is your comfort flick...you'll need to go to your happy place after you look into the abyss of Lily Orchard.

Let's talk a little about Kalulu kisses
Today we will honor International Kiss Day by remembering the kiss and the two almost kisses of Lelouch and Kallen. While C.C.'s magical kisses and the kiss with Shirley were captured in a single image (using different shots, by the way), Kallen and Lelouch's kiss is presented in a montage of detailed shots (alternating with certain general shots and close-ups). The detail shots are expressive shots since, being small frames, they ask the viewer to concentrate on something very specific. They are usually used to highlight an object that will become important later, however, they can also create tension and emotion like here.
In episode 7, the series prepares the viewer for a kiss between Lelouch and Kallen and then snatches that illusion away when Kallen slaps Lelouch. In episode 9 it surprises the viewer by reformulating the question from episode 7: "Will Kallen and Lelouch kiss?" (also since we have a flashback of the first almost kiss between Lelouch and Kallen, I feel that the creators want to communicate to us through this montage: "hey, hey, the promise of a kiss between these two was serious! Wait for it!").
In the end, episode 22 fulfills that promise and does so by presenting a montage as a way to close what they started in episode 7. It's a shorter montage because the intention is to surprise Lelouch and the viewer with Kallen's initiative and immerse ourselves more in the moment, so there are fewer shots, but they last longer.
Considering that Code Geass isn't particularly notable for its direction like other anime (ahem, Cowboy Bebop, for example), I highly value these three scenes. Not only as a fan of this ship, but as someone who has a basic knowledge of the language of audiovisual media. I think these montages are an excellent example that in a story how you tell something is as important as what you tell. The culmination of the kiss is the perfect proof of this (someday it will be time to analyze that scene, since the combination of the elements says a lot). As Martin Scorsese would say: "[this] is cinema!"
I won't lie, these setups also influenced me to opt for the Kalulu. This isn't an analysis because I don't consider myself an expert in audiovisual language, someone who is would tell you more than me (I didn't even prepare myself; I'm getting hooked on the fact that today is International Kiss Day). Even so, I wanted to talk about these scenes because I wanted to raise awareness about it. It seems to me that fans, even Kalulu fans, don't value these montages as much as they should. You can say what yoy want, but it is undeniable that there is a seal of creativity here. I can't think of another example that anticipates a kiss and ultimately presents it in such a unique way. I think they involve us more emotionally with the characters. At least, it happened to me.
Small recommendation: Since we are in romantic mode, I recommend this song.
youtube
It belongs to one of my favorite Kdramas and is titled: "Please say something, even though it is a lie." The song is about a woman who realizes that she has fallen in love and asks her silent lover to say something as she wants to know if he feels the same way. Honestly, I associated this song with Kallen as soon as I read the lines of her poem that referred to her last conversation with Lelouch at Ashford Academy: "Lelouch, that goodbye kiss, Even if it were a lie, if you had told me: “I love you”, I would have followed you to hell. You knew that, didn't you?" And then when I found out that Kallen realized that she had fallen in love with Lelouch after kissing him, even more. After all, Lelouch is Kallen's first love (I can't even think how this song would fit with the Kdrama's protagonist, all that comes to mind is Kallen when listening to this song). The singer sadly passed away a few days ago, by the way.

thoughts on what fandoms the da:i characters would be in
I will do this for you but ONLY if I amend it to "fandoms they would be annoying about" because it's funnier and otherwise I'm just assigning them shows they would be into and that's too subjective and less fun
One of them has to be a Homestuck and it's Sera, Sera is the Homestuck. Sera has a Trollsona that she doodles on everything, she would 100% absolutely try to dye herself gray using sharpies and vodka for a cosplay. She references it all the time and is annoying when you don't understand her jokes. She still tries to get people into it, but she considers Andrew Hussy a mortal enemy these days for Reasons.
Solas is a Song of Ice and Fire bitch. Not the show. The books. "But wait, Boggers!" you might say (if you know me well enough to call me "Boggers"), "What about LOTR? Why isn't Solas into LOTR?" And to that I say, he's definitely read it and is a nerd about it, but this is about fandom, and fandom to someone like a Reddit-addicted bitch like Solas is about theory crafting, debates, and politics, and ASoIaF being complex but unfinished really lends itself to the kind of deep internet toxicity that I think Solas would crave. Also he likes wolves.
Cole is a Supernatural Superfan. He has all the cheesy "join the hunt" merch because for a while it was his chief special interest and all he wanted was SPN stuff. He's kind of obsessed with Baby, specifically. His favorite episode was Baby and he has an AO3 account full of fic written from the car's perspective. He didn't cry in the finale until he saw the Impala under the canvas and he's been lowkey upset at Sam for doing that ever since.
Dorian is an old school Baldur's Gate fan. Like, BG1 and 2. He's played other RPGs of that era, those are just his favorites. What makes him an annoying fan is that he thinks complicated = good and looooooves to complain about how "simple" and "boring" current-era RPGs are. If you can't softblock yourself from all progress by making one mistake two hours into your playthrough, it's too easy. He's active in fandom spaces and is largely helpful, like he writes tips and guides and will answer newbie questions, but the price for his help is dealing with him being smug.
Leliana is a FromSoft fangirl and a Soulslike aficionado. Nightingale says git gud. She'll happily team up with you in co-op to get you through stuff if you ask, but she also explains mechanics and such like you should have known them already and thinks you're just not trying hard enough to listen, even though her advice is almost incomprehensible.
Cullen is an MCU fanboy. He fully believes they're the peak of cinema. He compares literally everything to an MCU movie, as he has seen all of them, multiple times, and thinks you're "thinking about it too much" if you criticize them in more than the most banal of ways. Usually it's fine, like, being excited for stuff is fine and enjoying mainstream things are fine, but you can only have so many "Thanos was a great villain" conversations with this dude before you go insane. Despite seeming incapable of critiquing the MCU, his criticisms of the DCEU are spot-on, sharp, and demonstrative of actually very impressive media analysis skills, but also coming from a starting point of "DC Bad, Marvel Good", so it's like, we could've had it aaaaaaaaall.
Cassandra is in the Bridgerton fandom. She read the original books and liked them, so she was one of the first people watching the show. Most of her fandom stuff happens on Facebook with other book fans. Watching the show with her is fun until the exact second she says "well, in the BOOKS" and then rattles off a list of the most inconsequential changes, distracting you from a pivotal moment in the show and forcing you to rewind. She is very pressed about the seasons going out of order from the books.
Varric is a Critical Role evangelist. He was there when it started, he's listened to everything. He's listened to other real play podcasts and shows, but CR is his favorite. That's not annoying in and of itself, what's annoying is that he will not stop trying to get you to watch it. If you even breathe in the direction of a DnD-related topic he tries to give you "advice on where to start" with CR. His friends put up with it because he's their Forever DM and they love him, but he sure does do a lot more obnoxious sound effects now than he used to and they're planning an intervention about it.
Josephine is a Disney Adult. She seems normal and then bam, you get blindsided by something insane, like that she owns every single Disney character Funko Pop, or that she's gone to DisneyWorld for vacation every year for the last decade, or you go over to her house for dinner and find Hidden Mickeys in her bathroom, or she's really intense about pin collecting and limited edition mouse ear headbands. You wonder when she has the time and energy to collect all this. And there's more of it every time you see her. But the thing is that she's pretty quiet about it as long as you don't poke the bear. You know that she's seen every one of the new remakes in theaters, but you don't dare ask her opinion about them. Her favorite princess is Cinderella and she tells you "the original dress was silver" with exactly the same amount of excited did-you-know energy every time.
I hate to break this to you all, but Iron Bull is a Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan fanboy. Yep. Yes he is. His toxic trait is that he shuts his brain off and just enjoys the gritty action sequences. He liked Batman v Superman. He bought the Snyder Cut. He thinks Nolan's Batman is the absolute best that franchise has ever been and ever could be. I'm sorry, it's heartbreaking but it's true. I know, I'm sad, too, we can hold each other.
Vivienne has been in the Anne Rice fandom under the same pseudonym for ever. She was one of the original fans and was much more active in fandom when she was much younger, but she made her fannish activities more and more private as she became more established in her career. You would honestly never know it meeting her IRL; at most, people come over for dinner parties and might notice that she owns every single Anne Rice book, but they're part of her overall book collection and don't really stand out. Secretly, though, she's been keeping up with the Anne Rice fandom under a pseudonym this whole time and goes to the more modern in-person events using her fake name. She might kill you if you ever connected her fandom activities to her real life in any way. She's also just, like, she's really bad at letting people be wrong about these books. Really, really, really bad. There are epic-length threads on old forums that are just her and one other similarly deranged person fighting about obscure Vampire Chronicles lore.
And finally, Blackwall is a Game of Thrones girlie. The show, not the books. He's one of those "I don't like fantasy but I like Game of Thrones" guys, and he thinks GoT is mold-breaking and special and better and grittier and more realistic than other fantasy and that's why he likes it. His most irritating fan trait is that he thought season 8 was good and that the ending was good and he likes to get into heated debates with other fans about it. However, he does not know what Reddit is, he only talks with other GoT-watchers in Facebook, which is why he and Solas haven't had the fight to end all friendships yet. Yet.
BONUS! Krem is into Star Wars and Scout Harding is a die-hard Trekkie, and they go to big cons and cosplay together. They're not annoying at all, I just wanted to mention it because I feel like that's in-character for them.
**also if you like this and think "i'm gonna give this fine person a follow because they're so funny about dragon age", i made a new DA sideblog at @skyholdstarbucks where i'd post anything similar to this in the future

FAV APOLLO / PJO SHIPS GO 💞
OOOO difficult ask! I'm not usually someone who focuses on ships that much so I don't have many favourites (despite giving the opposite, much more intense impression) but there are some that make me particularly. How should I put this. Unwell
1. Apollo/Hyacinthus! I know that it's usually considered a boring ship because we were effectively shown 1% of what Hyacinthus' real personality might've been (Apollo spends more time thinking about his death than about his life doesn't he), but I'm hopeless over these two. I don't know what it is that's doing this to me
Maybe it's Hyacinthus potentially being much less perfect than what the myths present him as (as in stubborn and flawed, not homicidal and deranged and whatnot. Let's leave that to Commodus). Maybe it's Apollo's constant waiting and mourning over someone who will never really return. Maybe it's the love persevering despite it all. Maybe it's the mystery behind this man being so extraordinary that not only Apollo never forgot about him (to the point of still being reactive over any mention of him, as if the grief were still fresh) but also wished to be turned mortal just so he could die and be with him
Like dude who ARE YOU what's the deal with you how did you and this god tie your souls together so tightly that he's not known true happiness ever since you died
2. Apollo/Commodus. I have no good excuse or elaborate analysis for this one I just love drama and watching things burn to the ground. A flawed man who sees the good in everyone he lays his eyes upon VS a flawed man who hasn't got anything good inside him anymore. The desperate attempt to save someone who cannot be saved. Poetic cinema
(I do like to explore scenarios where these two reconcile though, because I do still believe that there's just the tiniest chance that Commodus might've been redeemed) (🤡)
3. Apollo/Naomi, the only (modern) rrverse relationship of his that we know anything about LMAO
I've been drawn to this ship mostly through fanfics but I do enjoy even what little content we have about them in canon. Between the song Naomi composed and Apollo's digressions about her in TOA they seem to still really care about each other, plus I'm quite convinced that he still watches over her because idk about you but the crowds cheering EXACTLY when the song about him comes on is a pretty obvious sign of a blessing to me
I'm actually still writing a fic about them!! Hopefully it'll see the light of day someday but anyway if I'm willingly writing something about a ship you just know that I'm not normal about it in any way shape or form
#there are many other ships i like but these are the ones that are rotating in my mind at all times#*points* i just think they're neat#anyway someday i'll have to write an essay about hyacinthus' personality#because it CAN be reconstructed i know it's there#among the thousand scattered mentions and appearances#lonely thoughts#trials of apollo#toa#ask
