The Golden Snake Tooth | Chapter 17
Prologue | Last chapter | Next chapter
Notice/warnings: yelling/shouting, food mentioned, death mentioned
▪▪▪
Moe was pacing back and forth in his cell, trying to figure out what happened last night.
The wolf stopped pacing back and forth, looking through the cell window to see its morning.
He turned around when he heard his cell door open.
Captain Misty Luggins came in with a couple of guards.
“Let’s get this over with, Wolff.” she said, looking down at him.
“Where are we going?” Moe asked, looking at her.
The captain just looked down at him like her eyes gave him the answer.
Moe put a hand over his neck and rubbed it. “Oh…” he said quietly as the two guards walked over to him.
Snake and his caretakers got back to the hidden valley of the tower.
“Home sweet home.” Onsáày said with a small smile when they got into the tower. “Like it never happened.”
Snake sighed sadly as he slithered up the staircase to get to his room, wanting to be alone.
He looked at the grownups when Ghaâstly started snapping her pincers to ‘talk’ as she went to the kitchen.
“That does sound good.” Shaård said, nodding and then looked at Snake. “We’re having hazelnut soup.”
Snake didn’t say anything when he got to the balcony step, his head hanging down.
The caretakers looked at him.
“Snake…” Professor Marmalade started with a sigh as he walked up the stairs to talk to him. “We really did try to warn you of what’s out there. The world is dark, cold, and cruel. If it finds a light of sun shine, it destroys it-”
“Will you just stop?!” Snake snapped, glaring down at him and everyone else.
All caretakers were taken back by this action.
“I am not in a good mood, hungry, or anything right now! I just want to be alone right now!” Snake snapped more before going into his room and slamming the door.
He slithered to his bed and laid on it. He heard Splaarghön said behind the doors, “Leave him be. Let’s go outside for a meeting.”
Snake heard the hidden hatch close a couple of minutes later.
He sighed and sat up a bit as he started taking stuff out from his side satchel, putting them on the bed and looking at them.
His blue gown and robe, the small venom jar, and the festival flag that Moe got him.
Snake sighed as he opened the door before he grabbed the small venom jar and went to the cabinet where the rest are stored. He put the jar on the counter and opened the cabinet door.
Before he put the jar away, he started to hear the caretakers’ meeting outside, which got him interested. He went to the outside balcony to peek at what the caretakers were talking about.
“What do you mean ‘it’s time to move him’?!” Professor Marmalade shouted at the other caretakers. “The wolf is being taken care of!”
‘What does he mean by that?’ Snake thought confusedly as he tried to listen more and not be seen.
He could tell that they were talking but couldn’t hear what they were saying because Professor Marmalade, Shaård, Onsáày, and Drillaärgh started to argue while Ghaâstly did her angry snaps.
“THAT IS ENOUGH!” Splaarghön shouted, making everyone quiet and look at him.
Snake looked at them as he hid.
“We’re all at fault for what happened to the Sundrops Snakes.” Splaarghön said, looking down at the caretakers. “But besides them going extinct and five out of the six of us getting cursed, there’s an upside. We found Snake, our cure for the curse and the reason that we need to continue more of the experiments of the Sundrop. Also with the wolf out of the way, there's no distraction and it gives us a big chance to move him.”
The caretakers nodded in agreement, not noticing Snake spying on them.
Snake’s eyes widened as he slithered away from the balcony.
‘My life was a lie. A big LIE!’ he thought angrily.
Then he looked at the jar cabinet and the plants, getting an idea.
Moe was guided to his fate by Captain Luggins and the two guards.
As they went past the jail cells to his fate, Moe noticed Lucky Jim and the Bucharest Bandits in a cell.
Moe growled when he saw them. Before they walk past them, Moe slammed the guard on his left to the wall then head butted the one on his right. He jumped over his cuffed hands, so they would he in front of himself, as he ran to Lucky Jim and the Bucharest Bandits’ cell.
The Bucharest Bandits screeched when Moe grabbed Lucky Jim and pulled him to the cell bars.
“How did you know about him?!” the wolf growled in demand, his red eyes blaze like fire of anger. “Tell me! Now!”
“It wasn’t us!” Lucky Jim exclaimed in fear. “It was the old guinea pig and his creepy friends!”
“Old guinea pig?” Moe mumbled under his breath, trying to think of what he ment. Then his eyes widen when he realized that he meant Snake’s caretakers.
The next thing that Moe knew was that the guards grabbed him and started to drag him again.
“No! No!” Moe cried, trying to get out of the guards’ grip as the guards dragged him. “Wait! He’s in trouble! Wait-!”
“Snake, we’re done with our meeting!” Professor Marmalade said as he and the others to the top floor of the tower. They noticed that the plants were gone, which confused them.
“Um… Snake? Are you ok?” the Professor called out as he went out the stairs to Snake’s room.
Before he got to the balcony, everyone jumped when Onsáày screamed when checking the jar cabinet.
“What’s wrong?” everyone asked, looking at her. Then Onsáày moved out of the way, pointing at the cabinet, and screeched, “THIS!”
All grownups gasp to see that the venom jars were emptied out.
“That’s it!” Shaård and Drillaärgh growled, getting both of their blades out. “Let’s talk to him first!” Professor Marmalade shouted at them. “See if he knows where one jar is! Because there’s one missing!” Onsáày added, still looking at the cabinet.
Then all of them looked at Snake’s door open to see Snake slither out and looked around to see what happened. He still wearing the red vest snake outfit, a brown side satchel.
“Snake,” Professor Marmalade asked in a serious tone, “what happened?”
Snake glared down at him and replied, “Oh, I found out that I'm an experiment, a reason why I am the last of my kind, and I grew up in a big lie.”
All of the caretakers' eyes widened at him.
“You must have been mistaken.” the Professor said with a dry laugh. “Let’s be real-”
“No! It’s been all of you!” Snake interrupted, raising his voice.
The tone of the room of awkwardness became dark as soon Splaarghön spoke, “All we ever did was to protect you.”
Snake noticed that Marmalade was about to step forward to him. He pushed him away and slithered down the stairs in anger.
“Snake!” the caretakers exclaimed in anger at him. Snake ignored their anger as he exclaimed, “I’ve spent my whole life hiding away from people who would hurt or use me for my power!”
“Snake!” the caretakers exclaimed again.
“But in reality, I should have been hiding from you all!” Snake exclaimed, looking at all of them.
Then Ghaâstly snapped her claws to 'talk'. "Agreed. Where will you go?" Onsáày asked, her arms crossed.
"If it's the big bad wolf, don't. Because he won't be there for you." Marmalade said, walking down the stairs.
Snake looked at him and asked, "What did you do to him?"
"That criminal is going to hang for his crimes." Marmalade answered with a dark smile.
Snake gasped and couldn't believe what he heard.
"Hey, it's alright, Sundrop." Marmalade said in a reassuring tone, walking over to him. He was about to hold his tail and pat it as he continued, "Everything is as it should be-"
But then he was cut off by Snake wrapping around him.
Everyone was shocked by this.
"No!" Snake growled, looking down at the Professor. "You may have been right about the world, you're also wrong about the world. You were also wrong about me! And I will NEVER let you use my venom again!"
Then Snake threw Marmalade to the mirror, making the glass shatter.
Shaård, Onsáày, Drillaärgh, and Ghaâstly quickly went to Marmalade as Snake started to go to the staircase of the tower.
But then Snake was stopped by Splaarghön, who was glaring down at him.
Snake felt a shiver down his spine as he looked at him.
"So… you want us to be the bad guys?" Marmalade said, getting Snake's attention. "Well fine… we're the bad guys."

It's really weird that I have so many cartoon crushes and only three of them are humans, the rest are either villains, some sort of monster or demon, animals, or both. Like my crushes include the Devil from the cuphead show,
Tumblr media
Sir pentious from hazbin hotel
Tumblr media
Griffin the invisible man from hotel transylvania, Grim from the Grim adventures of billy and Mandy, Sonic thehedgehog (couldn't get good pictures of them)
Captain hook from Disney's peter pan
Tumblr media
And I even have crushes on female characters like Luisa from Encanto and Cheif Misty Luggins from the bad guys (couldn't get good pictures of them either). It's mostly because I'm not into looks, I'm into personalities, like whenever a character is tough on the outside but a cinnamon role on the inside, I develop a crush on them. I don't know why I like these types of personalities, I just do. And Luisa is technically the only character who is human and and a protagonist. So if anybody else has these types of crushes, please let me know.

The Golden Snake Tooth | Chapter 12
Prologue | Last chapter | Next chapter
Notice/warnings: heists, knock out, lying, drinking mentioned
▪▪▪
Snake and Webs were in awe when they entered the kingdom.
There were so many buildings that most were close together and that there were different sizes of the buildings. There were also small different color flags that all have lantern designs, hanging on rope that went from one building to the other, giving the kingdom more color.
“Wow! This place looks amazing!” Snake said excitedly as the many different places that pass by.
“Well, can’t argue with that.” Lou said to Snake.
Snake continued to look at the different places passing by.
“Alright everyone.” Diane started as she glanced back to look at the group. “Remember the plan?”
Moe, Lou, and Pepe nodded while Snake and Webs looked confused.
“Oh, what’s that?” Snake asked before jumping out of the wagon, his hat flying off of his head and landing in the wagon.
“Snake!” Everyone in the wagon exclaimed in shock when Snake jumped out.
“I’ll go after him.” Wolf said to the others before got out. “We’ll meet you guys by the inn.”
He followed where he guessed that Snake slithered off to. The way that he had guessed was because some of the scared people jumped onto barrels and tables to get off the ground.
Moe Wolf found Snake in front of a sweet shop, which caught him off guard a bit. The wolf walked over to the reptile.
“Sweet… shop?” Snake read, tilting his head to the side a bit.
“Yep, that’s a sweet shop.” Moe said when he was behind him.
Snake jumped and looked up at him. “Hi… I did something wrong… didn’t I?” Snake said nervously to Moe.
“It’s ok, Snake.” Wolf reassured him with a soft smile. “It’s like your second day out and I don’t expect you to get everything down in like a day. Also, I didn’t tell you that you need to stay in the wagon when it’s moving, unless you’re in danger. But it’s ok, you didn’t know.”
Snake hummed and nodded, looking around. “Where’s the others?” he asked, looking back at Moe.
“We’re going to meet them by the inn.” Moe said, pointing in the direction of where it was. “Come on, let’s go to the others.”
Snake nodded and looked back at the shop one more time, flicking his tongue at it. “I just taste sugar in the air.” he said, looking at Moe. “Is that good or bad?”
“Well, it’s a sweet shop.” Moe started, looking at the shop before he started to walk, guiding Snake to the others. “So, you’re going to smell some sweet- wait. What do you mean that you can taste sugar?” Moe looked at Snake to see if he could answer the question.
“Oh, well snakes can taste air.” Snake explained, waving his tail a bit to refrice the air.
“Air?!” Moe asked in surprise, stopped walking and looked at the invisible air.
“Yes, air.” Snake said, stop slithering and flicking his tongue a bit to taste the air again before looking at the wolf again. “Hm, nice.”
Moe couldn’t help but chuckle at that, thinking it was interesting.
Moe Wolf and Snake looked at the different shops by looking from the windows as they went and talked.
“So, what is a heist?” Snake asked, tilting his head a bit.
“Well, it’s like a job. To like to switch something or steal without anyone knowing, except for you and your group, if you had a group.” Moe Wolf explained, waving his hand a bit.
Snake hummed and nodded. Then he smiled as he had a thought. “It sounds like the game Snek.” Snake said with a chuckle. “What’s that?” Moe Wolf asked, looking at Snake.
“It’s a game that Webs and I always play.” Snake explained as they went. “Basically, the way that we play it is that you need to be alone or don’t have any caretakers around, then you get to do what you’ve been told not to. Like for example, looking in a journal about my progress and what could go with my venom or you in the tower. But here’s the catch, you have to make sure that everything is back the way it was or nothing out of place when the caretakers get back.”
Moe hummed and nodded. “Ok. Have you ever gotten caught before? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“No.” Snake said, knowing that it was a lie but he did not want to tell him about last night with the Professor visiting the campsite.
“Alright, I was just wondering.” Moe said, reassuringly with a smile. Snake chuckled softly as he smiled back at him.
When Moe and Snake got near the inn, they saw not a lot of people going about as they got there, looking around to find their friends.
They saw Diane by the inn, standing by a weird wagon made of metal.
“That’s a weird wagon.”  Snake said, pointing at the wagon.
Then the next thing that Snake knew was that Moe Wolf quickly went to Diane. Snake followed after him when Diane looked at them.
“There you both are!” she hissed at them.
“Were you guys going to do the heist without us?!” Wolf hissed back.
“We were about to. The others are inside the inn, distracting the guards.” Diane hissed again to Moe Wolf, handing a small crate with a bag inside it to Snake. “Pick the lock and do the swap. I’ll keep watch.”
Moe sighed as he got two metal things out from his pocket and started to pick the lock while Diane kept watch.
The snake looked confused while he held the crate. He flickered his tongue, tasting iron from rocks in the bag.
“Got it.” Moe whispered as he opened the door a bit and entered the wagon.
Snake looked in and gasped when seeing that there were a lot of bags. “That’s a lot of bags.” he breathed, looking at the many different bags as he put the crate in the wagon.
“Yeah, but we just need one.” Moe said quietly as he picked one.
The wolf went to Snake, holding the bag. He knelt down, taking the bag from the crate and putting the bag he was holding in the crate before getting up to go back to the big pile of bags.
Snake took a peak in the bag and saw coins in there. “Wow.” he breathed before picking up the crate and moving when Moe came out of the wagon. Wolf shut the door completely while Snake gave the crate to Diane.
The fox and wolf looked both ways before calmly crossed the street and went down the other sidewalk. Snake watched them before he started to slither after them but was grabbed and pulled back. Snake turned around to see who grabbed him.
It was a guard and his breath smelled weird.
“Um… Hi?” Snake said confusedly to the guard.
“Hello there.” the guard said, looking down at Snake while still holding him tightly.
Snake tried to get out of the guard’s grip. “Could you let me go?” Snake asked, still trying to get out of the guard’s grip.
“Oh, I will.” the guard started, his voice in a dark tone. “After you tell me why you were here.”
Snake looked at the guard as he tried to think up something. Then he noticed a familiar orange tarantula walking over. “I was waiting for a friend.” Snake said, looking back at the guard. “Oh? Well, what’s your friend’s name?” the guard asked with a dark chuckle.
“Her name is Stefanie.” Snake said, then he smiled when seeing his friend on the guard’s left shoulder. “And she is next to you.”
The guard turned his head and was face to face with Webs. “Hi.” the tarantula said, a big smile on her face.
The guard’s face went white and eyes widened when looking at Webs before screaming at the top of his lungs as he let go of Snake and ended up bumping into the weird metal wagon when trying to run, forgetting that the wagon was on his right.
Webs jumped to Snake before the man fell to the ground, knocked out. Snake and Webs looked at the knocked out guard for a while until they noticed the captain walking over.
“Oh, hi!” the both of them exclaimed, waving to her.
The captain looked at them and then at the knocked out guard. “What happened?” she asked, pointing at the guard as she looked at the two.
Snake and Webs looked at the guard before looking at the captain again. “We got lost while we were exploring a bit.” Snake said, looking at Captain. “We were looking for our group. My friend was inside the inn while I was outside, just in case we saw our friends walking by or going inside.” Then Snake pointed at the metal wagon. “Apparently, I was too close to this thing, so the guard went to me to see what I was doing and I told him that I was looking for my friends.”
Captain nodded in understanding. “I see, but what happened to Todd?”
Snake and Webs looked at each other before looking at the Captain. “Look, when I got out of the inn, the guard was holding him, like he did something wrong. I wanted to see what he was doing with him and see if we needed to talk. So, I got on his shoulder to be at eye level. He screamed and knocked himself out when he saw me.” Webs answered, looking back at the Captain.
Then both Snake and Webs smiled at the Captain, who looked convinced.
“Very well.” the Captain said, nodding. “You two can go, I’ll take care of him.”
“Alright.” Snake said, nodding to her before he slithered off while Webs clung onto him.
They looked for the others as they went down the street, scaring some people by accident. “Where are they?” Snake and Webs asked out loud as they looked.
Their answer was answered when Kit stopped in front of them. “Kit!” both of them exclaimed while Kit neighed happily when seeing them.
Then Snake looked around to see if the others were around. “Where’s the others-?” he started but stopped when he heard Moe yell out, “Kit! You don’t do that!”
Snake and Web looked to see Moe running over to them with the others.
“Oh, Snake! Webs!” the four exclaimed when they got to them. “Hi!” Snake and Webs said together, smiling and waving at them.
Snake and Webs told the others their adventure of getting away by lying when they were seated in the wagon and was moving.
“Wow! Thats impressvie.” Lou said, smiling at them.
Snake chuckled and nodded. “Yeah. To be honest, I liked it.” he said, smiling and rubbing the back of his neck.
“Same here.” Webs said, smiling too.
“So, you actually like it?” Diane asked, glancing at them as she drove. “The heist?”
Snake nodded and explained, “Yeah, it reminds me of the daily game that Webs and I do. We call it ‘Snek’.”
“Snek?” Diane, Lou, and Pepe asked, to see if they heard him right.
“Yep!” Snake said, nodding happily.
Lou and Pepe looked at Moe to see if he knew about this. “He told me what it was after I explained what a heist was.” the wolf chuckled.
Lou hummed softly.
“Oh, Snake.” Pepe started, getting something. “Before I forget, I want to give you your hat. You left your hat here.”
Snake looked at Pepe as he got his hat.
The hat had a flower crown of many different flowers over it.
Snake looked at his hat with the flower crown. “Why is there a flower crown on it? I was just wondering.” Snake asked, pointing at the hat.
“Oh, a friend of ours that was watching the wagon had flowers and I wanted to practice making a flower crown.” Pepe said, smiling embarrassed. “If you want, I can take it off of it.”
Snake looked at the flower crown on his hat before smiling softly and said, “I like it. Mind helping me?”
Pepe gasped excitedly as he jumped up from his seat and went to Snake, putting the hat on his head.
“Thank you, Pepe.” Snake said, chuckling softly and looked at the others when the hat was on his head. “So, how do I look?”
Diane glanced back as she drove and smiled. “You look great, Snake.” she said before looking back as she drove.
“Agreed, you look great.” Lou and Pepe said, both nodding. Pepe went back to his seat while Lou got a chipped hand mirror out, showing the reflection to the reptile.
Snake just tilted his head a bit to try to see what they mean as he looked at his reflection. “I just look like a snake with flowers.” he said, looking at them.
Webs sighed sadly before looking at Moe and asking, “Why’s he blushing?”
Everyone looked at Moe when Diane stopped the wagon to see what Webs was saying.
Moe was blushing a light pink red before he hid his face with his tail.
"Aw, look!" Diane said, teasing a bit. "Mr. Wolf is Mr. Red."
Everyone, except Snake who was also blushing, started to chuckle while Moe pointed at Diane and said, "Shush!"

The Golden Snake Tooth | Chapter 9
Prologue | Last chapter | Next chapter
Notice/warnings: stuffing broken mention, screaming, weapons, (almost) drowning, wound
▪▪▪
Mister Wolff and Diane walked back to the main room from Diane’s office. They were talking about the heist plan until they realized that they could hear no customer talking, just soft piano music.
The fox and wolf quickly went to see what happened as they got to the staircase. They saw everyone in the tavern looking at the stage where Snake, who was wearing a red vest snake outfit, a brown side satchel, and black hat on his head instead of the blue gown and robe, was playing the piano while Webs was on his hat.
It almost looked like it was an illusion, smoke and mirrors.
But no it was real and enchanting.
Diane looked at Lou and Pepe, who was walking over to them. “Don’t worry, Foxington.” Pepe reassured her. “He asked permission to play.”
Diane nodded and hummed softly, “I see.”
She looked back with Shark and Piranha to watch Snake play.
When Snake finished playing the piano, everyone clapped and cheered for him. “Well, he’s great at that, and I must say, I do like the new outfit for him, Lou.” Diane said to Lou as she clapped.
Lou nodded as he and Pepe clapped too. Then Pepe stopped clapping and asked, “Hey, is Wolf okay?”
Diane and Lou looked at Mister Wolff, who looked starstruck. Diane waved her paw in front of his face, making Wolff come back to reality and looked at her as Lou and Pepe went to Snake and Webs.
“Hey, you ok?” Diane asked, tilting her head to the side. “Um, yeah. I’m ok, Diane. I’m ok.” Mister Wolff reassured and gave a thumbs up.
Then the main door to the tavern swung open and an eagle flew in and got on a banister. “The guards are coming for the most wanted checks!” the eagle cried.
Everyone started to talk among themselves.
Diane quickly grabbed Wolff by the hand and went to the back of the bar area. Lou got Snake and Webs over to them before he went into the crowd.
“What’s going on?” Snake asked worriedly.
“Most wanted checks. It happens every year or every time a dangerous criminal is on the run.” Diane answered as she pulled a secret lever down and a secret passage opened up to a dark tunnel into the mines.
Mister Wolff, Snake, and Webs looked down the passage while Diane said, “Go and live your dream.”
“I will.” Mister Wolff replied, a small smile on his face. “Your dream still sticks.” Diane said flatly to him before she pointed at Snake. “I was talking to him.”
Mister Wolff's smile went to a quick frown as Snake and Webs couldn’t help but chuckled.
“Thanks, Foxington.” Snake said to Diane before they went into the secret passage. Diane nodded and pulled the lever up when her friend and new acquaintances went into the tunnel, closing the passage.
Diane looked up when the front door opened and kingdom guards came in a few minutes later.
“Where’s Wolff?! Where is he?! I know he’s here.” Captain Misty Luggings growled, looking around. She stomped in as she ordered the guards, “Find him. Turn the whole place if you have to!”
The guards nodded and went to find Mister Wolff.
Diane watched the guards with her customers. Most customers were glaring at the guards as the guards looked.
Diane looked at Lou, who was holding Pepe and a wanted poster of Mister Wolff. “I think this is the one you’re looking for.” the shark said, showing Pepe to the captain.
“You got me!” Pepe exclaimed, smiling and showing his fins to the captain.
Captain Misty Luggings glared at them then she looked at the guards when one of the guards said, “Ma’am, there’s no sign of Wolff.”
The Captain growled and looked around until she sniffed the air near the back of the bar.
Mister Wolff held a lit lamp lantern as he walked with Snake in the tunnel. “Well, I like the new outfit and I’m also impressed by that performance there.” Wolff said to Snake, smiling at him.
“I’m glad that you like- wait. You were?” Snake asked, looking at Wolff. Webs looked at Wolff too in confusion.
“Well, yeah. I’ve never seen a snake play the piano before.” Wolff answered. “It looked enchanting.”
Snake and Webs hummed softly and nodded. “Well, when you are in a tower for 21 years, you try to find things to do to pass the time.” Snake said, shrugging. “Unless it’s something that can’t be played anymore.”
“What do you mean?” Mister Wolff asked as they went down more into the tunnel. Snake was quiet and looked at Webs, nodding to her to help answer the question. “Well, there was a piano in the tower.” Webs explained, jumping onto Wolff’s shoulder. “Until about a year ago. Snake moved the piano a bit to paint in an area, because it was by the paint wall. Anyway, while the paint was drying, one of the caretakers came to check on Snake. It wasn’t the same one that’s with him often by the way. But when the caretaker came in, he crushed the piano with his big body.”
Wolff had a confused look as he tried to imagine it to make sense. “Is one of the caretakers a giant?” he asked looking at Snake and Webs.
The two looked at each other before looking back at Wolff, saying together, “You could say that.”
Mister Wolff thought about and then shrugged, continued to walk with Snake while Webs jumped back onto the hat.
A thought came to Snake’s mind and wanted to ask it. “So, Mister Wolff, what’s your name?” Snake asked, slithering close to Wolff.
“Whoa, Whoa!” Wolff exclaimed like Snake went a bit too far. “I don’t do backstories, Snakey.”
Snake hummed in understanding, not pushing him as he slithered back to about arm's length. They were quiet for a moment as they went down the tunnel until Mister Wolff said, “Although, I’m getting more interested in yours.”
“Oh? What do you want to know?” Snake asked, looking at him. Before Wolff could ask anything, Webs said, “Think before you ask, Mister Wolff.”
“I know. I know.” Mister Wolff chuckled, showing his free hand to them. “I know that I’m not asking about the golden tooth or talking about any of the caretakers.”
“Nope.” Snake said, shaking his head with a smile.
“And to be frank, I’m scared to talk about the bug.” Wolff started, pointing at Webs.
“Arachnid.” Webs corrected angrily. Then she pointed at him and warned, “And the question better not be linked to either of those.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Wolff reassured her. The wolf cleared his throat before asking. “So, if you wanted to see the lights so badly, why haven’t you gone out before?” Wolff asked, looking down at Snake as he stopped walking. Snake stopped slithering as he looked up at Wolff. “Oh-well um…” Snake stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s-”
Snake talking stopped when they felt the ground rumbling and low noise. “Um… Wolff?” Snake asked, worriedly. “Wolff?”
The three of them looked behind them to see a small light becoming bigger as the low noise got bigger and louder to them. “Mister Wolff?!” a loud angry voice called out to Wolff above the noise.
“We need to go!” Mister Wolff exclaimed, fear in his voice as he dropped the lantern lamp, making the light go out. “Go!”
Mister Wolff quickly ran as Snake quickly slithered out of the tunnel that led to the outside. They were on a tall stone platform of the old mining tunnels, by an old mill and dam.
Mister Wolff saw one mining tunnel on the ground level and it looked promising. “We need to get there.” Wolff said, pointing at the tunnel.
Snake nodded and pointed as he said “There's a ladder.”
They were about to go down the ladder but Wolff stopped Snake going down it when he saw six familiar faces on the ground level.
It was Lucky Jim and the Bucharest Bandits and they did not look happy when they looked up to see Wolff.
“Who’s that?” Snake asked worriedly, seeing the thieves.
“They don’t like me.” Mister Wolff answered, pointing at them.
Then they quickly turned around to see the mad guards come through the same tunnel that they were just in.
“Who’s that?” Webs asked, pointing at the guards.
“They don’t like me either.” Wolff answered again.
Then the captain of the guards appeared and she looked angry as ever.
“Who’s that?!” Snake and Webs asked when they saw the captain.
Mister Wolff got Snake to look at him, sighing angrily and quickly said, “Look! Let’s just say that everyone here doesn’t like me right now!”
Snake made a confused face at him before looking around to see how they could get out of this situation.
Mister Wolff look at Captain Luggins slowly walk over to them, a big smiled on her face. "I've been waiting a long time for this." she said, looking down at Wolff as she got her sword and handcuffs out.
But before the captain or her guards grabbed Mister Wolff, Snake wrapped himself around Wolff's waist and said, “Hold on.”
“Hold on?” Wolff asked, looking at Snake. “What do you mean hold-AAHH!”
Wolff screams for a moment as he clings onto Snake, who had jumped off the platform with extending the end part of his tail wrapped around a broken wooden beam of the mill, swinging to another stone platform.
When they got to the platform, Snake got himself unwrapped around from Wolff, who was in shock as he looked at Snake. “Are you ok, Mister Wolff?” Webs asked while Snake got his tail unwrapped from the beam, getting his size back to what it was. “How long is he?!” Mister Wolff asked in shock, pointing at Snake as he took a few steps back to look at him. He didn’t realize how far he was close to the edge until he slipped and fell.
“Wolff!” Snake yelled when Wolff fell off the platform. He quickly tossed and wrapped his extended tail around Mister Wolff’s waist again, grabbing him to stop him from falling and hitting the ground.
Mister Wolff clings onto the tail, trying to calm down after his whole life flashed before his eyes. He saw Lucky Jim and the Bucharest Bandits running to him with their swords.
“Hang on!” he heard Snake call out to him. And the next thing that Mister Wolff knew that Snake’s tail swung him to a wooden platform that’s connected to the mill part of the dam.
The wooden platform wasn’t too sturdy but it held him.
Wolff held Snake’s tail as he caught his breath.
Then his ears went up when he heard loud banging of wood. He looked to see that Captain Misty Luggings was slamming herself against one of the wooden pillars of the dam, making it lose. When she got the pillar off, it landed on the platform that Snake and Webs were on. The captain started to walk over to them with the guards.
“Snake!” Wolff called out, still holding Snake’s tail. Snake looked at Wolff as the wolf said, “Jump!”
Snake nodded and quickly jumped before Captain Misty Luggings could grab him.
Mister Wolff held Snake’s tail as Snake swung down to the ground. Wolff let go of the tail when Snake was on the ground and he started to run on the not too sturdy wooden platforms, making them more loose so they could fall and stop Lucky Jim and the Bucharest Bandits for a moment as he caught up with Snake and Webs.
Wolff’s ears went up again when he caught up running with Snake, who just got his tail back to normal size. ‘Why do I hear wood cracking?’ he thought as he ran to the tunnel with Snake slithering quickly. His answer was soon answered for the dam wall gave way and broke, gushing out all of the water that was behind it.
It first washed over the Captain and her guards. Then it washed over Lucky Jim and the Bucharest Bandits. Before it got to Snake, Webs, and Mister Wolff, the water crashed into one of the stone platforms, knocking it over.
Mister Wolff and Snake quickly went to the mining tunnel while Webs was holding onto Snake for dear life.
They got into the tunnel when the stone platform landed in front of the entrance, blocking it, and the wave washed over. The water started to come in through the cracks.
The wolf, snake and tarantula saw the water coming in. They started to go down the tunnel but to their surprise, they were blocked by an unfinished stone wall.
“Um, guys!” Webs said nervously, making Snake and Mister Wolff look at her. “I don’t want to be that person but the water is rising fast!”
Snake and Wolff looked at the water and gasped as they saw the water was rising quickly.
Snake and Mister Wolff tried to see if there were loose rocks somewhere.
Mister Wolff tried to move some rocks by the stone wall, he accidentally slipped and exclaimed in pain. There on the center of the left palm of Mister Wolff’s paw was a very bad cut.
The water level was almost to above waist level when Wolff went under water to try to find a way. But all that he could see was pitch black.
He gasped for air when he came up. “It’s no use!” he coughed as he tried to breathe. “I can’t see anything down there!”
Mister Wolff saw Snake put Webs on the stone wall, quickly took in a breath, and went down. The wolf quickly grabbed the snake, got him up and out of water, and got Snake to face him. “Hey, there's no point.” Wolff said sadly with the reality upon them. “It’s nothing but pitch black down there.”
Snake looked shattered as he leaned on the stone wall. It looked like he was trying not to cry. “They were right…” he said sadly. “I never should have done this…” He looked at Mr. Wolff and the snake said, “I'm so sorry, Wolff…”
Then he hung his head down as he started to cry.
Mister Wolff looked at him then at the water that was at chest level, feeling that he should tell him something about him.
“Moe.” the wolf said softly, smiling softly.
“What?” Snake asked, looking at the wolf as he wiped a tear away.
“You asked me what my name was earlier.” the wolf said, reminding Snake with a soft smile. “My name is Moe Wolf. Someone should at least know about it.”
Wolf expected Snake to laugh at the name, but no, instead he heard a soft chuckle as the snake said, “I have magic venom that glows at times.”
Wolf thought he misheard Snake. “What?” he asked, looking at the snake, who’s eyes widened in realization.
“I have magic venom that glows!” Snake said again. “Snake, the jar!” Webs said quickly as to remind Snake of this jar while she jumps onto the hat and clings onto it.
Wolf watched Snake pull a small jar with gold yellow venom out of a side satchel and started to shake it.
The three quickly took in deep breaths and held their breath as the water went to above head level.
The next thing that Wolf knew was that the golden venom was glowing, lighting up the darkness. “Whoa!” Wolf exclaimed underwater then covered his mouth before water went into his mouth.
They looked to see some water exiting the tunnel by some cracks of some loose rocks. They looked at each other, then they swam over, and started to remove the rocks away.
When they got to the weak spot, Wolf removed the last rock that was holding the rest up and they pushed against it. All of the rocks fell out and, with the water presser, the three fell out too into a river.
Snake and Wolf got to the surface and rested their heads on the dry land while Webs plopped onto the dry land. The three of them took in some fresh air to breathe again as they coughed.
“We’re alive.” Snake breathed as he looked at Webs and Wolf before he looked at the jar of venom before putting it away.
“The venom glows.” Wolf gasped as he coughed, his eyes big and wide.
“We’re alive!” Snake said again, smiling big as he got out of the river.
“I did not see that coming.” Wolf said, pushing some fur out of his face. Then he looked at Webs, who was shaking some of the water off of her, and asked, “How does it glow?”
Webs looked at him with ‘are you asking me?’ look as she points at herself while Snake starts to say, “Moe,”
“How and why does it glow?!” Wolf asked, wanting an answer.
“Moe!” Snake called out to him.
“What?!” the wolf answered with stress in his voice, looking at Snake.
“It doesn’t just glow.” Snake chuckled softly as he got some of the water out of his hat before putting it on.
This got Wolf more curious and got even more curious when Webs smiled up at him. “Why is she smiling at me?”
“Well, how about you get out of the river and we get settled by a campfire, then I’ll explain. Ok?” Snake asked, offering his tail to help Wolf out. The wolf nodded as he got the tail and got out of the river.

The Golden Snake Tooth | Chapter 6
Prologue | Last chapter | Next chapter
Notice/warnings: hunger/food mentioned, yelling, weapons mentions
▪▪▪
Snake went to get something as Mister Wolff got up from the seat and tried to walk. He was a bit off balance, for he was still dizzy. Wolff leaned on the banister to get himself steadied. As he got himself seadied, he noticed Webs was on the banister, looking at him with a glare.
“Can I help you?” Mister Wolff asked flatly, being so done with today.
“Don’t even think about breaking the deal.” Webs warned, not taking her eyes off of Wolff. “You don’t know how much the lights mean to him.”
Mister Wolff could only just stare at her for a moment, not getting what she was saying. “Look, I don’t know what you’re saying but all that I’m getting is that he has never been to the Lanterns Festival.” he said to her. Then he mumbled to himself, “Which is weird.”
The next thing that Mister Wolff knew was that Webs slapped his snout. It wasn’t hard, it was more like a tap but it was strong enough to get his attention. He looked down at her again as she pointed at him and said, “No mumbling.”
“Hey, that mumble was just for me.” Mister Wolff pointed out  as he got his legs working properly again.
When Wolf got to stand on his legs, Snake came over to them. Wolff was confused when he saw that Snake didn’t change his clothes. “Um… shouldn’t you change or something?” he asked confusedly.
Snake looked at himself before looking back at Mr. Wolf, replying, “This is the only outfit that I have. I do have other outfits but they’re all the same as this one.”
Mister Wolff hummed and nodded. “Ok, then. Come along, Mr. Snake.” he said, walking to the balcony doors and opening them. “It’s just Snake.” the snake corrected, letting his friend tarantula climb onto his head.
‘Who names a snake ‘Snake’?’ Mister Wolff thought confusedly as he got his handmade grappling hook ready. ‘It could be a preferred name.’
“Are you sure that’s safe?” Webs asked as Snake slithering over to Mister Wolff.
“Yes, it’s safe.” the wolf answered. He noticed that the snake and tarantula were both unsure.
Mister Wolff sighed softly, sort of understanding of their worry and unsureness. “Ok…” he said to himself, picking up the grappling hook and facing them. He got the rock untied and looked around to see what could hold the rope. He eyed the banister of the stairs going up to a room, since it was close to the balcony doors and it looked more grounded. “Mind if I tie one end of the rope to your banister?” he asked, pointing at the banister.
“If you think that it’ll stay put, then go ahead.” Snake answered, nodding to him to go ahead.
Mister Wolff hummed as he walked to the banister and tied one end of the rope around it. He pulled on it to make sure that it’s not loose. Then he walked back to the balcony, where Snake and Webs were waiting. Wolf held the rest of the rope and tossed the rope down.
Mister Wolff looked at them and asked, “Ready?”
“Ready as we’ll ever be.” Snake and Webs said together.
Snake couldn’t believe that he was doing this as he, Webs, and Wolf went down the rope.
Mister Wolff and Webs were waiting on the ground when Snake was at the end of the rope.
Snake stared at the ground like if he was having a staring contest with it before going on it.
“Are you ok?” Wolff asked, looking at Snake, who was still holding on the rope. “Because the look on your face shows that you haven’t been on grass before”
“Huh? Oh, no. I’m fine!” Snake reassured, looking at Mister Wolff before looking at the ground again.
Then Snake slowly got on the grass and he nervously chuckled softly as he let his tail move through the grass before he slithered over to Webs and Mister Wolff.
As he went to them, he checked his pocket to make sure that the thing that he grabbed was there.
It was a small glass jar of his venom. It was only for emergencies.
When he got to them, Webs ran to Snake, who was smiling big at him. “You’re doing it, Grumpy pants!” she exclaimed happily.
Snake nodded as his tail moved through the grass more. He was getting a bit overwhelmed with the new tastes in the air, different touches, and seeing the sun so brighter than from the skylight. But he was starting to get used to it, so no turning back now.
Snake looked at Wolf as Mister Wolff said, “You good now? Because we’re wasting daylight and the kingdom is far from here.”
Snake nodded. “Yeah. I’m good.”
They went to the tunnel to exit the hidden valley.
As the three walked into the woods, they had to stop time to time for Snake. Because there were times where Snake would just stop and look at, or even touch if he could, something that was an everyday thing, like a bird that flew by, some flowers, fallen leaves on the ground, and some trees.
Mister Wolff was impatiently waiting for Snake to finish up looking at some moss on some rocks. Webs was by Wolff, but she was patient as she smiled at Snake.
“How are you so patient with him?” Mister Wolff asked her, a bit of impatient sound in his voice.
Webs looked at him and explained, “I’ve been with him for twelve years and well… This is his first time being out of the tower.”
Wolf looked down at Webs and then looked at Snake, who was now looking at some bushes. “Ok, that makes sense.” Mister Wolff said, nodding. “But that doesn’t answer my question.”
Webs was quiet for a moment, hugging herself. Wolf looked at her when she was about to say something but was cut off when Snake did a quick scream and quickly slithered over to them, mostly to hide behind Wolf.
“Whoa! What's wrong?!” Webs and Wolff asked Snake, worriedly. “Something is in there!” Snake hissed, pointing at the bush.
The two looked at the bush that Snake was pointing at. The bush was shaking until a bunny rabbit came out.
“See, Snake.” Webs said, smiling softly and pointing at the bunny. “It was just a bunny. Not a thief or a ruffin.”
Snake slowly slithered away from hiding behind Wolff and nodded. “Right, right.” he said, taking in a breath and calming down.
Wolff watched this happen and thought, ‘Hm, he’s jumpy. It would be best to not go to the tavern tonight.’ Then Wolff’s ruby red eyes sparkled as he got a plan and he smiled. ‘That’s it! I know how to get the dolphin and the money!’ he thought with a chuckle. “Hey, are any of you hungry?” he asked, smiling a toothy smile. “Because I know a great spot where we can eat.”
Snake looked at him as he let Webs onto his head. “Where? Where can we eat?” Snake asked curiously, adjusting his robe.
“Oh, don’t you worry.” Mister Wolff reassured, putting an arm around Snake and started guiding him. “You’ll know it when you smell it.”
Professor Marmalade was checking the perimeter while his friends were about to set up camp.
It was a safe choice because a lot of people would freak out when they see either Shaård, Onsáày, Drillaärgh, Ghaâstly, or Splaarghön. But if people see Marmalade, they won’t freak out.
Professor Marmalade was about to head back to the campsite but he stopped when he saw the kingdom’s captain of the guards appear.
“Oh, hello!” he exclaimed, hopping up some rocks and looking up at her when she looked at him.
“Oh, hello Professor.” Captain Misty Luggings said, nodded to him with the tip of her helmet. “What brings you out here?”
“Oh, you know… studying nature, the usual.” Professor Marmalade said, showing the captain his satchel of flowers and leaves.
Captain Misty Luggings looked and nodded in understanding. “I see.” she said.
Marmalade nodded and was about to walk away but stopped again when the Captain said, “Oh, do be careful. There’s a thief out on the loose.”
“Is that why you’re here in this part of the woods?” the Professor asked, looking back at Captain Luggings. “Because this is predator territory and not a lot of people are welcomed here.”
The Captain nodded and explained, “Yes, his name is Mister Wolff, but a lot of people prefer to call him ‘The Big Bad Wolf’. My guards and I are trying to catch him before tomorrow, for it being the Lanterns Festival.”
Marmalade hummed softly and nodded. “I see.” he started, then a question popped into his head and was curious to ask. “Question, what type of thief is this ‘Wolff’?”
“Well he’s a treasure hunter.” Captain Misty Luggings explained, waving her hand while she explained. “Sometimes it’s like he can sniff out and find ANY type of gold.”
The Professor stopped smiling and his eyes became big when he heard that. “What do you mean by… any type?”
“Any type of gold. From being solid to liquid.”
Professor Marmalade nodded, his face had a look of fear as he thought of Snake’s gift.
“Professor? Are you ok-?” The Captain started to ask but was interrupted by Marmalade saying, “I need to go.”
He quickly went to everyone, who were still in the progress of getting the camp set. “Everyone! We need to go back to the tower!” Marmalade yelled, getting everyone’s attention.
“Whoa, slow down, Rubert. What’s happening?” Onsáày asked.
“There’s a treasure hunter thief out on the loose!” Professor Marmalade explained, worriedly. “And I have a feeling like he may have found Snake!”
Everyone gasped at that.
“We need to go now.” Splaarghön ordered everyone. Everyone nodded and got the campsite taken down in a matter of minutes before they ran back to the tower.
They all gasped when they saw rope hanging down from the tower.
Professor Marmalade quickly ran to the base door as he got the key out and unlocked it.
Then he and everyone else ran up the stairs. Marmalade quickly unlocked the hatch as everyone else ran up behind him.
“Snake!” all of them yelled worriedly as they went through the hatch to get into the top of the tower.
Onsáày and Drillaärgh quickly went to Snake’s room. Shaård and Ghaâstly checked every curtain and door that Snake could hide behind. Splaarghön checked to see if Snake was in his favorite sun spot. Marmalade looked to see if Snake was hiding in the plants.
“Snake is not in his sun spot.” Splaarghön said after checking the sun spot. “Or in the plants.” Professor Marmalade added, running out the plants.
Both Splaarghön and Professor Marmalade tried to stay calmed as they looked at everyone.
“Onsáày. Drillaärgh. Did you two find anything?” Splaarghön asked, looking at the balcony of the room.
“He’s not in his room!” Onsáày and Drillaärgh answered together as they got out of the room.
“Shaård. Ghaâstly. Did you two find anything?” Professor Marmalade asked, looking at them.
“He’s not behind any curtains or doors!” Shaård answered while Ghaâstly showed the ripped curtains and doors off their door hinges.
Professor Marmalade’s curly hair became very frizzy because of the stress as he tried to calm down. Then he saw something shine under a floorboard of the first staircase steps to Snake’s room. “Hey, Ghaâstly.” he called out to her as he went to the step. “Mind helping me?”
Ghaâstly walked over to him and helped remove the floorboard step.
Professor Marmalade and Ghaâstly looked in to find an opened satchel that neither of them didn’t recognized. Ghaâstly pulled it out and set it down as everyone else walked over to see.
Marmalade pulled out a golden dolphin trophy from the nearby kingdom and a wanted poster of a wolf. “Everyone,” he started, smirking, “get your weapons ready. We’re going on a wolf hunt.”
