Damn right. I actually really adored Steve/Peggy in Captain America: The First Avenger.
I also shipped Steve/Bucky in the same movie, without feeling conflicted about it. Somehow. I could’ve seen them as a promising longterm throuple if they’d all survived the war. Steve would’ve married Peggy, and Bucky would’ve been the roguish bachelor uncle who stayed over a lot and was secretly fucking both of them.
There are some great OT3 fics set during wartime. But Bucky “died” in December 1944 and Steve “died” in January 1945, which means canonically, Peggy was the only one left. Until Endgame totally fucked the timeline, as well as assassinating both Steve and Peggy’s characters.
Both seasons of Agent Carter are set shortly after WWII has ended, while Peggy is still grieving Steve’s death. And we see her processing it, and realizing that the man she loved is gone. But she remains, and her life after his death can still be a meaningful one. There’s important work to be done, people to be saved, sexist assholes to beat up. She doesn’t have super-serum, unlike her dead sweetheart, but she’s still fighting the good fight.
And you can see she’s still carrying a torch for Steve, but she’s slowly healing. It’s seems plausible that at some point after Agent Carter S2 ends, she falls in love again and gets married. Steve can’t be the only guy from the 1940s who appreciates Peggy’s kickass, take no prisoners personality. Although Steve will always have a special corner of her heart. But Steve’s dead, she’s alive, and Peggy’s a practical woman.
All that character growth for Peggy in the late 1940s over 2 seasons. Plus, ninetysomething Peggy in the nursing home in CA: The Winter Soldier, surrounded by photos of her children and grandchildren. Also her long career with SHIELD. Peggy had a life after Steve crashed that plane and was presumed dead.
And Steve’s sorrow in CA:TWS after he got defrosted, because his wartime sweetheart is now in her nineties and has Alzheimer’s, while he’s still a young man. But at least he knows Peggy had lived her life to the fullest during all those decades he was frozen under Arctic ice.
Endgame took it all away. As well as taking away Peggy’s history with the man she canonically eventually married instead of Steve, and had kids and grandkids with. And Endgame took away her career with SHIELD too, probably.
Also, in Endgame Steve, knowing his best friend was a brainwashed slave of Hydra, went back to the 1940s, not to try and save Bucky from being captured by Hydra again in December 1944 when Bucky supposedly died. Nor to rescue Bucky from Hydra once he had been captured.
No, Steve used those Pym particles to marry Peggy right after the war ended, and settle down with her in the suburbs and have 2.6 kids with her. And ignore the fact that for decades, Bucky was being mindwiped and tortured and used as a weapon. He was a POW from 1944 to 2014, Endgame Steve knew all that already, and he never tried to save him??!!!!
Steve is the guy who went AWOL and parachuted into Nazi occupied Italy alone just on the off-chance Bucky might be a POW instead of already dead. Steve canonically risked his life just on a faint hope Bucky might possibly have survived and been taken prisoner. And that Steve, if he managed to get behind enemy lines, just might possibly manage to locate wherever Bucky and other captives were being held.
Yeah, as it happened, it worked out. Steve didn’t get captured or killed himself, he found the Hydra factory where the POWs including Bucky were being held, and he did a one man rescue mission to liberate them all. But the odds beforehand were terrible. Steve knew that and went on a suicide mission to try to locate and rescue his (probably already dead) childhood best friend anyway. That’s canon.
In Endgame, Steve using Pym particles to go back to 1945 and shack up with Peggy forever, but not lifting a finger to help Bucky makes zero sense, given the canon of every movie Steve appears in prior to Endgame. Endgame Steve knows damn well Bucky was captured by Hydra after supposedly dying in December 1944. That Steve went back to 1945 and didn’t try to help Bucky makes no sense.
And I’m not just saying that as a Stucky shipper. Peggy would’ve kicked Steve’s ass if she’d found out Bucky was a POW again, and being brainwashed and tortured by Hydra. Peggy is the one who risked her career to help Steve go on that unauthorized suicide mission in Italy in the first place, in canon!
Also, Steve caught up on postwar history after he was defrosted in 2012. Are you telling me STEVE ROGERS wouldn’t have intervened to try and prevent Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination from happening in 1968, for example? He wouldn’t have tried to intervene to prevent JKF’s assassination in 1963 either?
He would’ve stayed silent during the Red Scare and never revealed himself to Joseph McCarthy? Turned his back when the Freedom Riders were signing up volunteers? Been silent and done nothing to stop them when his white neighbours threw rocks at school buses full of terrified black children during school desegregation?
We’re talking here about the same Steve Rogers who through sheer bullheadedness made Gabe Jones and Jim Morita part of the Howling Commandos during WWII, long before the US Army desegregated in 1949. And there must have been screams from the Army brass and half the politicians in DC that Captain America had insisted on personally recruiting a special ops squad who included a black man and a Japanese American, segregation be damned. Again, this is canon.
Steve wouldn’t have done anything to try and subvert the meat grinder that was Vietnam before it started? Pod!Steve would’ve hidden away in the suburbs under a false name with Pod!Peggy and just ignored all the evil in the world that happened after 1945?
And never tried to rectify any of that postwar evil, despite knowing about it before it happened. Despite having super serum and a powerful desire to get involved when innocent people were being harmed? The same Steve Rogers from all the movies before Endgame? THAT Steve Rogers? Little Stevie Rogers who grew up sick, poor, and Irish in the tenements of Depression-era Brooklyn, getting his ass kicked for standing up to bullies and standing on principle?
The Endgame ending for Steve was fucking BIZARRE. I know Chris Evans’ contract with Marvel had expired, so I pretty much assumed they’d kill him off in Endgame. In a way I wish they had. The character assassination they did with this plot twist was bizarre.
And it wasn’t character assassination of Steve only, also of Peggy. Because Agent Peggy Carter was a boss bitch in the best possible way. She would not have been happy hiding away in the suburbs as a housewife while she and Steve spent decades NOT fighting the good fight, the way both of them always did in pre-Endgame canon.
Did the Russo brothers even watch CA: The First Avenger before writing the Endgame script? Did they have amnesia regarding the events in CA: The Winter Soldier and CA: Civil War? The Russos themselves wrote and directed both those movies before writing and directing Endgame. And CA:TWS and CA:CW both establish Steve as a fiercely loyal friend who will never walk away from or give up on a friend who’s in danger. Until, in Endgame, Steve suddenly does. The Russos ignored their OWN movies in Endgame, to give Steve that ending!
A great example of why the MCU perhaps should have never messed around with time travel and traveling universes is - and keep in mind that the Loki series and Multiverse of Madness confirmed this stuff - things are gonna get fucked up. MoM said that if you go to another universe? Yeah, you’re going to cause an “incursion” and one universe is going to die. The Loki series was all about “don’t mess with the timelines!”
So! One of my most hated decisions was in Endgame where Steve went back in time to be with Peggy. Again, he went back in time, he didn’t go to another universe because he used a time machine, not a universe hopping machine. And what some people love to use as an excuse that “oh, he was meant to do that all along, so no problems arose from that.”
Really? So Steve was meant to prevent Peggy from marrying the man she originally married and had kids with? Steve was meant to go back in time and not do a damned thing about Bucky, his best friend? Steve didn’t even try to rescue his best friend that he knows was in the hands of Hydra? The same Steve who said “fuck you” to multiple governments and shit in Civil War to save Bucky? Steve, knowing all the shit that went down in history, didn’t try to do a damned thing about any of it? Steve, the guy who never gives up and always tries to help those in need, just… didn’t? Yeah okay. Sounds like a pod person, but okay.
The MCU should have kept the time travel stuff and universe hopping stuff in the comics.

Okay I haven't watched the MCU in a while and honestly at this point all I care about is Bucky, Wanda, Loki and maybe Shangchi but I watched a summary of the baby Starlord episode and the Captain Carter episode of the new What-if (not really interested in watching the whole thing but Bucky's in it so yeah) and as a Cap girl who loves CATWS so much that it's one of my all-time favourite movie, what Marvel's doing to the whole Steve-Bucky-Peggy (that I've been having issues with since Endgame) is driving me insanely frustrated.
I fucking HATE it when people more or less lessen or ruin what was originally so well-written and performed in the original that serves to drive the character that led to them being so well loved
Like, stucky doesn't need to be queer romantic to be significant. (And I'm saying this as a Stucky shipper whose whole exposure to AO3 and Tumblr started with Stucky) It is a significant, important and heavy relationship REGARDLESS if it's platonic or romantic. Erasing that and forcefully making it Steggy doesn't work, drives the og audience away from Steggy and frankly, it's kind of homophobic
Also it's incredibly unfair that Steve's significance to Bucky remains while vice versa isn't, even though THAT'S ONE OF THE TWO DRIVING MOTIVATIONS OF ALL OF STEVE'S ACTIONS IN CACW. Are you really trying to convince me that a bond so deep that they've been inseparable all their lives since they were kids and well into their adulthood, is less significant, or is effective as a memory trigger (and I fucking studied the basic of memory recall) than the significant shorter Steggy romance? What the fuck????
I almost want to write a whole essay on the Steve-Bucky-Peggy relationship, but I currently have enough writing tasks (fics, emails, letters, essays) on my plate. I'll see if I wanna come back to it later.

I keep seeing the same silly rhetoric that Peggy Carter wasn't interested in Steve until he physically changed and I just want to clarify that if the woman was only obsessed with his body alone then the following doesn't add up to this narrative:
She's smitten when he wins the flag to get a ride back to base with her. (CA: TFA)
She is attentive, gives attention and leans in when he's speaking in a room. She genuinely cares about what he has to say. (CA: TFA)
When undergoing his transformation she's the only one in the room who screamed for the experiment to be shut down when she heard him yell. To hell with the transformation, she only cared he was safe and well. (CA: TFA)
She continuously addresses him as Steve or Captain Rogers -- 'Captain America' isn't something she acknowledges when it comes to him. She calls him by his name. Because he matters. Not the world's persona. (Throughout the MCU works)
She left the SSR to start S.H.I.E.L.D. with nothing but a picture of skinny Steve. Of all her belongings she saw that being the only thing of importance to keep. (Marvel one shot)
She keeps a picture of skinny Steve on her dresser. She's literally starting her day with him and ending it with him. (Agent Carter)
We know she keeps skinny Steve on her desk as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Steve even finds it. (Endgame)
It's clear that Skinny Steve is to Peggy what Steve's Compass with Peggy in is to him. A direction. A reminder. A moral compass.
What I particularly hate about this blatant lie is that it paints Peggy to be this shallow superficial woman when it's the farthest narrative from her actual character both in the comics and in the MCU. It's incredibly clear that certain fandom members love to conjure up lies in an attempt to make their character assassination attempts sound like they hold more validity than they do.
If the above wasn't proof enough I'm going to provide further evidence both from the comics and the Agent Carter TV Series (which half of you clearly haven't watched or else this wouldn't even be a thing to question) that further supports the consistency of Peggy not caring about aesthetics when it comes to who she chooses as a love interest.
Fred Wells: Clearly unequally yoked for Peggy, given Peggy's heart for adventure. When her brother (Michael) tries to dissuade her from going through with marrying him (at their engagement party mind you) Peggy gets confrontational and basically tells Michael to stay out of her business (even though she knew he was right). One thing about Peggy Carter? If she loves you she will defend and stick beside you regardless of the logistics. The only time she then ends things with Fred is after Michael, her brother, dies in service. To honour him she leaves Fred and pursues a career with the SOE (That Michael put her forward for before he passed) that then sets her on the trajectory to work for the SSR and later S.H.I.E.L.D. Peggy, protecting legacies and using her life to honour those gone before her? Sound familiar? Because it didn't start with Steve. It started with Michael Carter, her brother.
Gabe Jones (Comics): Peggy has never cared about physical aesthetics nor has she ever been concerned with how other people perceive her with the partners she chooses for herself. She is one of the first white female characters in the comics to have an interracial romance (Gabe Jones) despite the racist hostility from others. Red Skull quite literally attacks her and Gabe for it (being together). Did Peggy run? No. Because her feelings for the person mattered most.
Jason Wilkes: Seeing this was a beautiful parallel to Peggy in the comics. A black scientist in the '40s who Peggy is BESOTTED with. This woman was risking everything for this man despite the time being rampant with blatant racism. After a comment made by a shop owner, you see Peggy visibly and audibly distressed by Jason's mistreatment. And yes, she defends him.
Daniel Sousa: A disabled veteran. There's a line in Agent Carter where Agent Thompson tells Daniel something along the lines of 'She (Peggy) won't trade in Red, White and Blue (Steve) for an Aluminum crutch'. Alluding that even after Steve's 'death' Peggy wouldn't go for someone perceived as 'less than'. It's a disgusting comment to make. It's incredibly ableist. The joke is on Thompson though because Daniel, Aluminum crutch and all, is who she ultimately chooses.
All this to say, Peggy Carter has many flaws. Her ability to see value in others despite their physicality has never been one of them. She is consistent in her approach to people. She consistently treats them fair, just and with respect across the broad variety of the work she has been featured in.
And yes, it has everything to do with her upbringing and coming of age in an era that didn't value women. Especially considering she was in a male-dominated field where they constantly reminded her of where her place should be and belittled and underestimated her expertise.
Peggy treats people the way she does because she knows how it feels to be on the butt end of people being awful to her. She actively moves throughout the world and considers everyone with kindness because she knows she hasn't always been awarded the same by others.
Circling that back to Steve Rogers. Is it a surprise that she took extra care with him? Especially when he in turn took extra care with her? Paid attention to what she had to say? Valued her opinions and her counsel? The math, maths perfect here. It had nothing to do with what the man looked like.
The better question to those spewing this rhetoric would be why they're so hellbent on making this a thing? Is it because they themselves would be shallow enough to have physicality be a decider on whether they pursued someone or not? Or is it just that they're running with this narrative to try and boost their own problematic faves? Who knows.
Either way, consider this:
If this is your first time learning that Peggy was engaged before CA:TFA, your first time learning she's been in interracial relationships, the first time learning she's been with a disabled veteran, the first time knowing her brother died (or that she even had one at all in the MCU) should tell you, you don't know enough about her character to be blindly forming opinions of her or agreeing with a majority of the fandom who have made it their mission to make her seem awful and evil. Steve wasn't the start of Peggy's character, she has her own history and life before and after him.
Watch the source material. Form your own opinions. Get off the bloody internet.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Trailer: Anthony Mackie Takes Flight as Cap to Stop Red Hulk and a Presidential Assassin
By Jordan Moreau
Cap is back!
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World,” the fourth Captain America movie and the first starring Anthony Mackie‘s flying superhero Sam Wilson, formerly known as Cap’s sidekick the Falcon.
Mackie takes the Cap mantle over from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who famously starred in the previous three “Captain America” movies and the four “Avengers” movies. At the end of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” Steve bids farewell to his fellow superheroes and goes back in time to spend a new life with his beloved Peggy Carter. He gives his iconic vibranium shield to Sam, who vows to do right by the world-famous hero.
In the new trailer, Sam is greeted by Harrison Ford’s U.S. president Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who wants to make Captain America a U.S. agent. The action heats up quickly as the superhero stops a would-be assassin at the White House. The trailer ends with a quick look at the new character Red Hulk, another gamma-irradiated monster, who is the alter-ego of “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel comics. It’s unclear if the fourth “Captain America” movie will follow the same storyline as the comics, though.
The first time Marvel fans saw Sam suit up as Cap was in the Disney+ TV series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Sam teams up with Sebastian Stan’s antihero Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, to take down a group of terrorists. The show received praise from fans and critics alike, in addition to five Emmy nominations.
“Captain America: Brave New World” will be the first time Mackie returns to the Marvel universe. The cast includes his “Falcon and Winter Soldier” co-stars Danny Ramirez, as the new Falcon, and Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley; Shira Haas as the Israeli superhero Sabra; Giancarlo Esposito as a mysterious villain; and Ford taking over the role of “Thunderbolt” Ross from the late William Hurt. The movie also includes an MCU throwback by bringing back Liv Tyler, as Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson, as the Leader, from the “Incredible Hulk” movie.
Julius Onah directs “Captain America: Brave New World,” which was written by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson and Matthew Orton. The film hits theaters next year on Feb. 12, 2025.

Okay, here we go. Thanks to @burberrycanary for the tag!
Rules: Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass this onto other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Not a Perfect Soldier -- 93k | M | Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers | MCU
Summary: In a world where HYDRA was wiped out in the '40s, Steve is found by the Army rather than SHIELD. General Thaddeus Ross wants a perfectly obedient super-soldier at his command, and to that end, he sets out to break Steve to his will. As Steve struggles to come to terms with all he has lost, his life in captivity is only made bearable by the presence of another prisoner-- another super-soldier known only as "Soldat". Then the Avengers strike a deal with Ross to "borrow" him for missions, and Steve is faced with a team who dislikes him, an organization he doesn't trust, and the question of what he's willing to do to escape Ross's clutches. This is probably still my favorite of the fics I've written, as it included a lot of themes/tropes that I enjoy reading as well as writing. It was a really interesting challenge to handle Steve and Bucky's separate traumas, and the various misunderstandings between Steve and the Avengers. This was also my first time writing Jewish Bucky in a way that really focused on that aspect of his identity, and I'm really grateful to siyuttov for their help in making that part of the story more accurate. I'm also really proud of the fact that I wrote a novel-length fic!
You Can Touch -- 3k | E | Bucky Barnes/Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers | MCU
Summary: She opens the door almost as soon as he knocks, ushering him inside before he can say anything. Her hair is partway down, her jacket and tie folded neatly over the back of a chair. She was getting ready for bed, he supposes, or at least planning to stay in for the night. Steve is in a meeting. Bucky goes to visit Peggy. There are three fics in this series, but this one has a special place in my heart. This was my first fic where I really tried to get explicit, and it was also different from my usual Steve/Bucky-focused fics in that most of the fic is just Bucky/Peggy (Steve comes in at the end). I really loved writing the developing intimacy between Bucky and Peggy, and there's always something fascinating to me about characters choosing to be vulnerable with each other, and taking care of each other/allowing themselves to be taken care of.
The Kind You Save -- 37k | M | Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers/Sam Wilson | MCU
Summary: When HYDRA sends the Winter Soldiers to assassinate the new Captain America, they expect the mission to be an easy one. After all, they're super-soldiers-- how hard can it be to kill one unenhanced human? As more and more of their attempts prove unsuccessful, however, the Soldiers' respect for Wilson grows, as does their suspicion that HYDRA's motives are not what they seem. If Sam Wilson is a good man, what does that make them…? I really love playing with the concept of Steve as the Winter Soldier. I also love Sam Wilson as Captain America. So Steve and Bucky as Winter Soldiers who first attempt to assassinate Sam, then start to fall for him as they realize what a good person he is, was great fun for me! It was really interesting to figure out what Steve's personality as the Winter Soldier might be like, and how his and Bucky's dynamic might work if they were both brainwashed. And it was great getting to write Sam as the hero he is!
Brave Soldier Boy (Comes Marching Home) -- 2k | G | Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers | MCU
Summary: Ten years after losing her son in the war, Winnifred Barnes receives an unexpected visitor. The Winter Soldier needs her help with an important mission. This story is from the point of view of Winnifred Barnes, which I really enjoyed writing! Mothers in the MCU tend to be dead if they're mentioned at all, and I really enjoyed giving Winnifred (and the rest of Bucky's family) a chance to shine. Several people told me they were nervous to read this because of the title, but it has a happy ending!
Let Me Touch You for Awhile -- 2k | T | Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers | MCU
As Bucky heals from his experiences as the Winter Soldier, he begins to remember some of the things he's been missing out on-- specifically, the fact that Steve and Bucky used to be comfortable touching each other, whether it was an arm around the shoulders or a hug goodbye. But Steve in the present day seems determined to give Bucky space... much more space than Bucky wants. Can Bucky work up the courage to ask for the physical intimacy he craves? Set after an Infinity War that ended differently, with the Avengers and co. defeating Thanos before he had the chance to Snap. I'm a huge fan of touch-starved Bucky, but I'd never written a fic that just focuses on that, so I really enjoyed writing this! This is also a bit of a fix-it with everyone surviving Infinity War (and no Endgame), and I liked getting the chance to write a cameo of Natasha and Yelena's relationship.
@elvenfforestydd, @h-i-raeth, @16woodsequ, @lycorogue, @xemiliagryphonx, @planeoftheeclectic, @bifuriouswaterbender and anyone else who'd like to join in, please play if you want to!

STEP 1: After being perpetually single and constantly making up excuses to your family, give in and lie about having a boyfriend. STEP 2: Agree to bring said boyfriend to the family cottage for a week so he can be your date to your parents' wedding anniversary party. STEP 3: Panic. STEP 4: Say 'yes' when your best friend and closet crush - who you're convinced isn't interested in you that way in the least - offers to be your pretend boyfriend. STEP 5: Try your best not to fall in love with them during the trip. STEP 6: Fail miserably.
Milestones (ao3) - andloawhatsit steve/bucky, peggy/steve, clint/natasha, pepper/tony T, 54k
Summary: Brooklyn 1918 to Brooklyn 2015: In which Steve questions his humanity, has a mid-twenties crisis (though he doesn’t call it that), makes friends, falls in love again, and slowly learns that he doesn’t need to live in the past to honour his memories.
Not Another Supersoldier Fantasy (ao3) - triedunture steve/bucky E, 16k
Summary: Bucky finds a popular sex toy modeled on Captain America's own anatomy. Well, isn't this just perfect? Because even after all this time, he still hasn’t seen Steve’s supersoldier cock. But apparently in this day and age anyone with $29.95 can get a decent replica. The unfairness of this is of galactic proportions.
one step closer (ao3) - Flowerparrish steve/bucky T, 3k
Summary: Bucky doesn’t actually mean to discover it the way he does. He’s just going through Steve’s Wikipedia page one night when he can’t sleep, and he discovers a short paragraph about Steve coming out as bisexual and advocating for LGBT rights.
put ‘em up (ao3) - Spooteh (Pawfoot) steve/sam T, 3k
Summary: The only problem with the press outing Steve and Sam as a couple is that they aren’t really a couple.
so no one told you life was gonna be this way (ao3) - thundersnowstorm steve/bucky T, 9k
Summary: Natasha is assigned to Captain Rogers the day after she returns to work from her break.
Somehow this turns into her aggressively befriending a sad, lonely Steve and collecting a gaggle of friends along the way.
the guide to being a displaced 106 year old who is coming to terms with his sexuality (ao3) - ChaoticAce2005 sam/bucky T, 5k
Summary: “So, people like- it’s normal to like both?”
Because despite Bucky’s head being like scrambled eggs, he remembers love. He remembers attraction. To that one baseball player. To a cashier at a mart, he went to. To the king of Wakanda who, holy fuck had no right looking that good.
And he thought maybe Hydra had screwed him up. Maybe they screwed around with his memories. But even now there were men who would cause Bucky to pause.
Men like Sam.
But he thought Hydra had just broken that part of him. Because he liked girls too and there was no way- Maybe he was just making it up- It couldn’t be real-
“Yeah,” Sarah responded, “Bisexual for one, that’s when you like two or more genders. There are more broad terms like pansexual or polysexual as well, those mean liking all genders or liking many genders.”
Wait- what?
“Aren’t there only two genders?”
Sarah just shook her head, “Gender is more a binary now, think a straight line and at one end is male and the other is female, there is all that space in the middle that some people are in. Some people don’t even identify as a gender.”
What- okay, that was going to give him a headache.
unexpected houseguest (ao3) - faeryn sam/bucky M, 20k
Summary: When Sam comes across Bucky in the strangest of places, his first instincts are to run, and to call Steve. He does neither, and in doing so manages to form a strange bond with the Soviet assassin who once tried to kill him. Bucky is broken, a shell of his former self, and Sam wants nothing more than to help return him to himself. But can he maintain a respectable and responsible distance from the man, despite how Bucky draws him in, in order to help him? Or will he falter, and shatter all the progress he has made by giving in to his own desires?

Honestly, I'll probably never rewatch Endgame because of what they did to Steve's character. It STILL makes me mad even now! Why did they have to butcher our boy like that? 😭😭
I’ve rewatched it once with family cause they wanted to understand some of my references. It hurt just as much the second time. The betrayal of his storyline just made me so angry. And I’m gonna rant.
And I’ll admit I do have a lot of bias from being a Stucky shipper. So I know a lot of people watching it might be fine and accepting of the ending with Steve going back to Peggy. But that just ain’t me.
Cause I was going into Endgame with the idea that Steve and Peggy had both made their peace. Peggy told him to live his life. In the Agent Carter series, she’d fully said goodbye to him years earlier. And Steve was living in the modern world with friendships with Sam and Natasha and he found Bucky, too.
I get the writers were in a pinch. Chris Evans wasn’t coming back. Steve Rogers needed a final ending, but there had to be something better than what we got. I mean, I was so thrown when he mentioned Peggy in the group therapy scene. Like what??? She wasn’t even blipped. No mention of Sam or Bucky or Wanda or any one of your friends who vanished into dust?????? I’m sure Steve and Peggy had a somewhat lingering feeling of connection (as lots of people do to the ‘one that got away’), but I’ve always felt like their actual screen time relationship was sorta superficial(?) while Endgame tried to make it feel so deep and epic or something. It was an alright love story in the first movie, but after that, I felt it had already played its course. And then there’s the Sharon thing, which is just weird in the context of Endgame.
Plus with the whole time travel thing and branch universes and all that, it just got confusing as to why Steve would be allowed to just do that? Not to mention the TVA from the Loki series afterward. Like if they make sure there’s no branches in the time stream, where were they? Why does Steve get to break the rules? Or does it count? Who fucking knows?!
But at the end of the day, you’re really gonna tell me that after years of searching for Bucky, fighting for Bucky, Steve’s not gonna want to spend time with him? Say a proper on screen goodbye?? That he’s just gonna live in some fantasy world while he knows about Hydra and Bucky’s torture happening under the surface of Shield. He’s just gonna let his best friend suffer and do nothing? That is not Steve Rogers. That’s not the Steve Rogers they wrote. That is not a Steve Rogers worthy of lifting mjolnir—not in my book.
A heroic death would have been better. Steve reaching out to Tony, trying to help him bear the power of the infinity stones and losing them both, fighting together, would have been better.
He deserves rest. He deserves to pass the mantle. He deserves to end the fight and really heal. He does not deserve character assassination.
And do not get me started on Rogers: the Musical.

Methods to Madness
Read it on AO3
by Theyumenoinu
Lowering his head until his ear hovers slightly above the bloodied lips, Steve listens intently for the soft wheezing of the man’s respires. A devious smile breaking over Steve’s face at the prospect of offering an American spy to the Great Dictator with the subsequent reward of his foolish trust.
My golden ticket, Steve delights.

The Spider in the Web
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/2Vm0LWx
by MistycSong
Natasha Romanoff has always lived up to the Black Widow codename; her lies were woven with the most perfect mastery, and each enactment was perfect, entangling the victims like the soft and invisible web of a spider, until the final suffocation came, without knowing where, with a lethal “sting”. She has always mastered her farces, she has always known her own web well. But even the most effective hunter makes mistakes, and hers has a name: Steve Rogers. Since the soldier and his honesty entered the woman's life, her habits as a lone hunter have been put in check, and the role she wove for herself for decades begins to tear. A struggle against herself, during which Romanoff needs to face the truth, while certainties she thought she had fall away along with the world she created for herself within SHIELD: sometimes, letting yourself be captured is the only way to release. Is love really childish? Or a solid bond with people who, one day unknown, would become the family the infamous assassin never thought she could possess? For the first time, her web is not empty, but will that make her stronger, or will it destroy her?
