#chance party crashers
Text
"Real power doesn't come to those who are strongest, fastest, or smartest." "It comes to those...who will do ANYTHING to achieve it."
Tumblr media
One day, a King was betrayed by a close friend. But that friend was taught a lesson at the very end...
I decided to draw one of my favorite Party Crashers moments! I want to draw more, honestly, but that would be a waste of my time.

Steve had his best fake smile plastered on. He was hosting a party, he had to appear approachable and friendly, even if he didn’t feel like it. The conversations could be so boring and draining. His one reprieve for the night was that he was hosting the party at an art gallery. The last night of the display of one of his favorite artists. Every chance he got he was appreciating the art.
At least until he saw you. Steve knew everyone at the party, they’d been vetted by his team, but he didn’t know you. There was no recognition, no faint memory of ever seeing you before and Steve’s memory was better than most. Your dress was just shy of the quality he’d expect from his guests, indicating you weren’t in the higher echelons of the city’s social circles. You were definitely a party crasher who shouldn’t be here.
He should call security, have them discreetly take you away, but as he watches you he realizes that, unlike other party crashers, you’re not here for the people. You never take a glass of the expensive champagne offered to guests. You barely talk to anyone and excuse yourself from conversation quickly. You’re looking at the art. You’re flitting from piece to piece like a hummingbird and smiling at each one. You might be a party crasher, but you’ve clearly got good taste and good manners. He decides he’ll let you stay but keep an eye on you.
Pretty soon he realizes he can’t stop watching you. Your genuine joy with each new piece of art you look at is endearing. Especially as he keeps having to deal with fake smiles and false promises. It also makes your frown stand out even more.
You walked over to a man who appeared to be taking away a woman who’d drunk too much. While you hadn’t had any of the champagne, you couldn’t imagine it would get someone so drunk they could barely move. You approach, ignoring the glares the man gave you, and ask, “what happened?”
“It’s nothing,” the man replies. “She just had a little too much to drink. I’m just getting her home.”
“She doesn’t look drunk,” you retort. “She looks like she needs to go to a hospital.”
“She’s just a lightweight is all,” he sneers. “I’ll take good care of her. Now get lost.”
“Let me take a look at her, please. I really think she needs a doctor.”
“No,” he barks. “She just needs to get home and get some rest.”
“Walker,” a deep, stern voice behind you started. “Do you need some help?”
“Rogers,” Walker stammers. “Seriously, I just need to get the lady home. That’s all.”
“Walker, if I get security over here and search your pockets, are they going to find some pills?”
Walker stammers a bit before dropping the girl and trying to run for it. He only makes a couple steps before Rogers has him slammed against a wall, signaling security to come in. You’re already picking up the young woman from the floor, checking her pupils for dilation, getting her into a more comfortable position.
Rogers is talking to a few people as security quietly takes Walker out of the gallery, “Sam, go get Strange or Badr. She probably needs a doctor. Bucky, go get Danvers and Rambeau to come help their daughter.” They head in separate directions and he turns to see you checking the girl. He bends down and turns her face towards him, “Monica, we’re getting your mothers. You’re going to be okay.” She seems to relax at that.
Before long a few people come over and you step back so they can take care of the girl. You figure you should leave before your status as party crasher gets found out but Rogers gently grabs your arm, making you stay in place as he gets the situation sorted. You try to squirm out of his grip a few times before he pulls you to him and whispers, “settle down, Hummingbird. You’re not in trouble but we need to talk.” You’re unsure where the nickname came from but you take comfort in his words and stop trying to escape.
They’re getting Monica to an ambulance but a tall blonde woman turns to Rogers, fury in her eyes. He points to the door where security took Walker and she storms in that direction.
Once you’re alone you try, one more time, to pull away, “I guess you should get back to your party, Sir.” The look he gives you makes you freeze.
“I’m not generally one for repeating myself, Hummingbird,” he begins. “But I understand you might be out of your depth tonight. You are not in trouble but we still need to have a chat.”
“Yes, Sir,” you lower your head.
He chuckles and lifts your chin, “call me Steve.”
“Yes, St…Steve.”
He smiles at you before turning and leading you to a separate wing of the gallery that had been closed off for the party. You know you should pay attention to him, but your eyes keep looking at the beautiful art around you. When you finally do turn back to Steve his smile has grown.
“So, what brings you to my party?”
“I…I just wanted to look at the art.”
“Why not look during normal gallery hours?”
“Work,” you confess. “I got so swamped I didn’t have time to come see the show. Jack Russell is such an amazing artist and I was desperate for a chance to see his art in person. I put on my nicest dress and slipped in with a small group. I’m very sorry.” You hang your head in apology, waiting for some kind of punishment or consequence for your actions. He said you weren’t in trouble but there had to be some kind of repercussion.
“I believe you,” he states. “I was watching you almost all night.” You lift your eyes at his words, confusion written all over your face. “You weren’t invited, it’s true, but you weren’t drinking any champagne. You didn’t annoy any guests. You were just flitting from piece to piece, actually enjoying the show. I figured as long as you weren’t causing trouble, I’d let you be. And I’m very glad for that.”
“I wasn’t planning on staying long,” you sighed. “Didn’t want to get caught so I moved quickly between the pieces.”
“Flitting like a hummingbird,” he chuckled. “But in coming here, breaking into my party, you saved a young woman. In doing so you also saved my party and, quite frankly, my reputation. I can’t be known as someone whose parties are unsafe or cater to creeps like Walker turned out to be. As such, I would like to reward you.”
“Um..wh..what?”
Steve’s bright blue eyes seemed to shine with your response. “And I think I know the perfect reward. I’m friends with the curator here. I’ll give you her information and any time there’s a show you really want to see, but can’t get to, call her and she’ll make sure you get in at a time that’s convenient for you.”
“What?!” Your eyes grow wide at his words, “that’s far too generous, Sir! I can’t accept that!”
“It’s ‘Steve’ little Hummingbird,” he lowers his face to your level, his voice lowering with it, “and you will accept the reward. I’ll also make sure you get invited to every party I host at this place. Watching your genuine enjoyment was the highlight of the party tonight. I’d love to see more of it.”
“Are…are you sure about this, Steve?”
Eyes never leaving yours, he gently grabs your hand and kisses it, “I promise, I want nothing more than for you to accept.”

Disclaimer in advance: I haven't watched season 4 or 5 in their entirety, nor do I intend to, so maybe I'm missing info. Most of my knowledge comes from lurking in the fandom.
Why do you think the show was seemingly allergic to allowing their main characters to make any sort of meaningful progress? At the end of season 1, Ladybug comes into possession of the Miraculous grimoire, a major clue that "Hey, Hawkmoth is probably Gabriel Agreste" and then the Collector immediately ends with her and Adrien placing him completely above suspicion (I actually don't mind this, it makes sense for Gabe to throw the two off the trail, but to the best of my knowledge, this is the only time the protagonists make any headway toward Hawk Moth's identity. I wish they had done more active investigation.)
The power up potions show up during Syren, except... they don't do much in the way of a "power up." They're used exceedingly sparingly, and really only let LB and CN compensate for environmental challenge. Nothing else, no actual evolution. This could've been a way to show LB getting more in sync with her powers, being able to create specific solutions to her problems. You could've had similar moments for Chat Noir, upgrade like the ranged cataclysm Chat Blanc could use, or something to do with bad luck. Instead, it was a cheap gimmick.
The temp heroes start getting called in beginning with Sapotis, except that most of them are called in because... you're here and I need this incredibly specific power, which you just so happen to be perfectly suited for. Shut up and do nothing follow orders. (The episode Party Crasher and King Monkey being the most egregious example, imo. Then again, i havent watched Penalteam, and I'm told that episode is far worse). The temp heroes don't really add anything to the plot (Save Rena suddenly being Ladybug's confidant, but that's a rant for another day.), except to cause conflict with CN, and they're all gone as of the Season 4 finale anyway.
Speaking of season 4, the charms. Finally, concrete progress, a way to limit hawkmoth, to cut him off from potential vic— wait what the hell is a megakuma? Why do this? What was the point? This is what I was talking about with Syren, Ladybug coming further into her powers, finally being able to start pushing Gabriel into a corner, and it's undone that same season. Apparently transmission is more powerful than creation, despite repeated assurances the Ladybug (and Marinette) are special.
And then there's the alliance rings. Why can Tomoe and Gabriel make these? No idea. What it means, though, is that LB and CN have no chance of reclaiming the lost miraculous, and just have to passively react to whatever the hell Monarch is up to... again.
I'm told that for the big finale, Marinette wasn't even the one to discover Gabriel's identity, Felix straight up told her, and then Gabriel won. He made his wish. The hero of the story failed to save the day, after doing practically nothing.
Whats extra annoying is that on the Villain side, Gabriel is absolutely allowed to push the status quo. First we get Scarlet Moth and mass akumatization, then the peacock comes out, then it gets fixed, and then Gabriel straight up steals all the Miraculous (save LB and CN's of course, and then they steal the rabbit back because the writers realized "time travelling villain" was a horrendous idea. And Felix is allowed to keep the Peacock, because ??? Gabriel has to my knowledge not given up any other power, before or since). And he's always held the power, he's never been at risk of losing his own miraculous because he doesn't need to go out in person, so why does he keep getting stronger and raising the stakes while the heroes can't do anything.
Sorry for being so long-winded, just... needed to get my thoughts out.
Put on your tinfoil hats, folks! We're gonna make some educated guesses as to what is going behind the scenes with Miraculous, but remember that these are, ultimately, guesses. I don't know the full story and I probably never well.
I've mentioned before that writing for TV can suck because you're not allowed pure creative freedom. There are a lot of hands in the pot limiting what you can do because TV shows cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to make. Some even cost millions. That means that final product needs to be considered commercially viable unless you're independently wealthy and have money to burn. This doesn't mean that passion projects can't be commercially viable, it just means that they're generally not approached with the idea that commercial viability is the most important thing.
Writing for children's shows can especially suck because you're heavily limited by the intended audience and by what large corporations deem acceptable for that intended audience. If you're not totally on board with keeping things Disney's version of kid-friendly, then you're not going to have a fun time.
This brings us to Miraculous.
I have often assumed that there were some wacky hi-jinks going on behind the scenes that would explain why the show is such a mess because I don't think that Miraculous is anyone's ideal version of the core concept. The wonderful @nixthelapin recently confirmed it for me by sending me a link to a translation of a lecture given by Miraculous' writing director.
In that interview, we get hard confirmation that the core members of the writing staff originally wanted to tell a darker story for adults or teens, which may explain all the random dark stuff that the show will include but totally fail to explore. We also got this:
Sebastien sold the Miraculous series to broadcasters as a formula show. A person gets angry, is akumatized, then marinette transforms into Ladybug then frees the person from the akumatization and… The End. It's also for this reason that Marinette tries to confess her love for Adrien in every episode, but is unable to do so. But he tried to go against what he had planned with TF1, by slipping little extra stories into certain episodes. Audiences were receptive to these slightly hidden stories. The TV channel even asked Sébastien if there really were hidden things in the series, but he denied everything.
So there you go. There's the hard confirmation of my theory. Miraculous was sold as a formula show so it's mostly written like a formula show, but the writers want to do more than a formula show, so they're adding in all these hints of something more, leading to massive fan frustration when those things don't lead to satisfying plots because, if they did, then it wouldn't be a formula show!
I get the temptation to do what they did, I really do, but I don't think that it was a good move. They would have been better off trying to make an awesome formula show or by being a lot more selective in what greater story elements they wanted to include. There are things that you can develop in formula shows while still keeping them formula shows. One thing that comes to mind is subtle character development. For example, they could have set up all of the temp heroes by giving them strong roles in one-off episodes. Roles that established their heroic potential. What you can't do well in formula shows is complex character development like the mess that was everything with Chloe and Lila.
This may also explain why we get baffling statements like this one from that interview that the writers gave at the end of season five:
Mélanie says that he "could become Chat Blanc" and the others add that even though he does not remember and has never lived it, Chat Blanc still has an influence on his actions.
Are they trying to let Chat Blanc effect the plot without breaking the formula element? If so, then dear gods, this is not how you add subtle continuity to your formula show!!! But that may be what they were trying to do here and in many other places. After all, we also get gems like this:
They note that Marinette's nightmare at the beginning is reminiscent of the episode Weredad from season 3. At this point, we can see that Marinette starts to understand who the villain is although she's not fully conscious of it yet. Thomas says that you can read it in two different ways: if you don't take the previous episode into account, she's starting to intuitively link things together but if you did see Representation, you know that she knows who Monarch really is.
I'm seeing a common thread. What about you?
While the writing director interview doesn't say this, I'm assuming stuff like the charms, the powerups, and the additional heroes come from a similar type of issue. My best guess is that these weren't elements that the writers wanted to add. They were things that marketing made them add to sell toys and so the writers shoehorned these items in because they couldn't find a way to organically fit these elements. I'm not blaming either side for that issue, btw. There isn't really a clear right side in the fight of creative freedom vs a show needing to make money to keep being made.
Since we're talking about that interview, I'll point out that we also got confirmation of another wacky writing rule to add to the list of poor writing choices:
The driving force behind the series is that there must always be a secret between Marinette and Adrien. The lovesquare can never be broken, otherwise there's no series.
"Our main couple can never be fully honest with each other or else there's no story" is a pretty awful rule, but it's what they're going with and that's a big part of why the love square is a mess. It's also a rule that I've often assumed was there based on the writing, but it's nice to get official confirmation of it.
None of this is to absolve the writers of blame nor is it to say that everything is their fault. The point here is that Miraculous' problems are a complex mess of everyone trying to make a good final product without being on the same page with what that final product should look like, resulting in a show that will never live up to the full potential of what anyone wanted for it.

Hi! I'd like to run a game that's Jane Austen-esque or a political/social drama with fantasy elements. Think A Court of Fey and Flowers, except I don't want to subscribe to their channel so I haven't actually seen it. Fairy settings in particular would be appreciated! Thank you in advance
THEME: Political and Social Drama
Hello, I think I have a really fun collection of options for you to take a peek at. We’ve got fairies, we’ve got secrets, and we’ve got drama!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fey Court Chaos, by Mabbly.
Fey aristocrats party the equinox away. You have been invited by the most prestigious monarchs of this wild magical land. Parlay with potential allies, humiliate your enemies, & impress those worth impressing–but avoid getting kicked out yourself!
Fey Court Chaos is a party-based tabletop role-playing game designed to let you escalate a royal ball into dramatic highs and lows. You will need a pool of dice or coins to play. Any kind will do, but the fancier the better!
This is a game about trying to make a name for yourself while possibly ruining the status of your companions. You’ll wager points of Reputation every time you do something risky, with the risks rising depending on the status of the person you’re interacting with. Success means a rise in reputation or learning a juicy secret. Failure means losing someone’s favour, or even giving one of your own secrets away! If you love fantasy faerie settings, this game gives you all the basics, and has advice for the game runner as well. You should definitely check it out!
The 147th Annual Necromancer’s Ball, by Meghan Cross.
You are cordially invited…
The 147th Necromancer's Ball is a one page TTRPG about necromancy and feeling fancy for a GM and 3-6 players played with a single d6.
You are necromancers attending The 147th Necromancer's Ball, dressed to the nines with your familiars in tow. You are ready to have a wonderful time, but more than that you are ready to show your rival once and for all that you are better than them by displaying your social prowess (and maybe even winning Necromancer of the Year.)
But not everything goes according to plan when a party crasher shows up to ruin the evening for everyone - and it is up to you to stop them and save the party!
This is a game all about being dramatic as fuck and also petty as fuck. You can roll Necromancy when you want to do magic or command the undead, and you roll Feeling Fancy when you engage in social entanglements or navigate the ball. Showing that you’re the Necromancer of the Year won’t be easy, especially once a party crasher shows up to complicate things - and possibly steal your chances of winning!
If you love silly games, as well as taking time to describe just how drop-dead (pardon the pun) gorgeous you look, this might be your game.
Avalon Society, by Martian Machinery.
Avalon Society is a game about courtly love and intrigue, and the conflict between passion and duty. You'll play knights, lords, ladies, upstarts, pretenders, unknowns, or possibly a changeling or a sorcerer. Pull swords out of stones, break curses, ascend to the round table, duel your rivals, or even fall in love with them. It’s up to you.
Avalon Society is a setting created for Good Society, which is the game of social intrigue, and in fact, the game that helped build A Court of Fae and Flowers! Good Society takes place in the same time as Jane Austen’s novels, but Avalon Society replaces character roles and family backgrounds in order to represent an Arthurian story. The court also shifts seasonally, which feels very reminiscent of a fairy court. The biggest downside - you also have to buy Good Society in order to use this supplement.
Townhouse Dracula, by Tenbear.
You have the opportunity to attend a dinner party at the one and only Townhouse Dracula. Here you will vie for Dracula’s favour, which includes eternal life and power beyond your imagination.
To decide who gains this power Dracula puts party guests through a gauntlet of past memories. Guests do their best to impress Dracula and convince them that they would be an asset to have in the Dracula lineage.
Townhouse Dracula presents the players with scenarios that their characters will have to navigate, trying to piece together Dracula’s memories when they might not have all the answers.
This is first and foremost an improv game, so it’s good for people who like coming up with pieces of a story on the fly. You’ll get tokens as rewards for being funny, clever, bold, kind, etc. At the end of the game, you’ll tally your score and determine whether or not you become part of Dracula’s lineage. If you like the mysterious allure of vampires and want to stretch your storytelling muscles, you might want to check out this game.
Tax Cuts and Pixie Dust, by Weird Blue Yonder.
The home of a sordid assortment of terrible woodland spirits doing terrible things in a desperate bid to sit atop the Fairy Throne.
You are those woodland spirits, and election season is just around the corner…
Tax Cuts and Pixie Dust is probably the most political game on this list. It uses pretty standard faerie tropes - you can be an elf, a leprechaun, a banshee… even a giant! All of you are supposed to be part of the same party, but you all secretly want the throne!
This is a game about dirty politicians, with the humour and camp turned up to allow you to get really ridiculous with it. The resolution system involves building small dice pools of d6’s, tallying successes to see how you fared. The GM is responsible for presenting scenarios and complications, which are present in a few roll tables. At the end of elections you vote on each player’s position in the new court, and that’s game!
Butterfly Court, by mishagw.
In Butterfly Court, you will play as a member of the titular Butterfly Court, the court of the monarchy of the kingdom Praecia. This is a court intrigue game that uses the No Dice No Masters system, based on Avery Alder's Belonging Outside Belonging games.
This is a storytelling, roleplaying game, where players portray members of a court, but not necessarily the monarch or the heir. Instead, the game focuses on everyday lives, intrigue, relationships, obligations, and myriad other concerns of the regular people in the court: nobles, but also staff, servants, artists, and other people that make court life possible.
Butterfly Court doesn’t dictate who you are exactly, but it leaves a broad space for different kinds of supernatural beings. So if you want faeries, this game is certainly able to take place in a faerie court. The game is designed to pit your characters into situations that are difficult for the country at large: rebellions, scandals, famine, crime, etc. You also create factions that have different methods and priorities.
Everything that you create together is shared communally, because Butterfly Court uses a GM-less, diceless game system. This means that you’ll each have shared authority over where the story goes next, although there is a cycle of play that helps you move from one scene to the next. I think that the idea of this being a game about different factions navigating political turmoil has the potential to be represented really well through a collaborative system like this.
Games I've Recommended in the Past
If you want something more like Jane Austen, you might like Le Bon Ton! If you like equal parts adventure and social intrigue, then Household might be for you.

More Twisted Wonderland Events I Think Should Happen:
Part 1
Photo Album Event: The first years find a photo album that shows the third years' first year (technically Leona’s second year). The first years ask their third years about it. We get to see what happened in the past as they’re telling the story. I think it would lead to a lot of interesting interactions and I really want to know what everyone looked like and how they acted during their first year.
Haunted Mansion Event: This would definitely be a Halloween event based off of the rides or movies. Multiple characters come across a haunted mansion and get trapped inside. They definitely meet a few odd ghosts (and a few terrifying ones). They soon realize that they have to escape the mansion before they become trapped inside for all eternity!
Pirate Event: This would have to be Peter Pan themed or Pirates of the Caribbean themed. A bunch of students get a chance to sail around the island. One of the students among them is Kalim. Unfortunately for him Kalim gets kidnapped (again), but this time it’s by pirates. The rest of the students go on a mission to save him and Kalim gets a side story where he interacts with the pirates/tries to escape himself. I love pirates, so I think this would be a really fun even to play.
Cowboy Country Event: Realistically, this would probably based off of Toy Story because of Woody, however I would love for an event like this to be based off of Home on the Range! (Please tell me some of you remember that movie.) A bunch of characters go to a town out in Cowboy Country. One of them has to be Epel because he is very much a country boy. The NRC students learn different things, including how to ride horses. Turns out some of the cattle have gone missing and after some talk with the sheriff (and talk of a promising reward) the characters are out to catch the crook.
Dorm Swap: Crowley begins to notice that there have been a handful of student fights recently. In hopes of bringing the student body closer together he creates a Dorm Swap Program. For a temporary amount of time a random group of students is chosen to swap dorms. Some characters adapt to their situation easier than others. At the end everyone learns something about how the other dorms run.
Muppets Event: I just got this idea while watching Muppet’s Family Christmas. I just think a Muppet’s event would be cool. If we can somehow get Stitch and Tsums in Twisted Wonderland we can absolutely get Muppets. I just know Miss Piggy would love Pomefiore.
Cinderella Event: This one is pretty self indulgent, but I just had to share it. There is a party event where Yuu isn't invited due to some unavoidable reason. A fairy godmother finds a teenager who is upset because they can't go to a party. That's just begging for a fairy godmother to do something! With or without Yuu's permission, this fairy takes it upon herself to get Yuu all dressed up sends them to the party. The fairy also uses a spell that would make Yuu unrecognizable so they don't get in trouble for being there. Yuu has a lot of fun, but the next day they come to find that everyone is trying to unmask the identity of this mysterious party crasher. Yuu has to keep it a secret to avoid getting into trouble, but some of these people are making it so difficult.

i was ready to leave this be but then @designtheendless made this gorgeous art so of course i had to write a bit more The Devil Wears Prada AU:
-----------
Dream invites Hob as a plus-one to a fashion event. Hob is ecstatic to get a glimpse into the fast-paced, cut-throat industry that Dream has nudged his way into. He warns Hob that Morningstar might drag him away at any given moment and he’d be left alone, is that alright? Hob shrugs and can’t say he minds. If he gets free food and booze out of it, he’ll gladly wander around for a bit.
And for the first time in Hob’s life, he gets dolled up. Really dressing the part of a fashion mogul’s partner. Dream takes him out, using the money from a bonus in his salary to surprise Hob by taking him to a tailor. Hob wonders why none of his usual blazer and pants combo wouldn’t work and tries not to get offended at the way Dream scrunches up his nose and refuses to answer him.
“Every man should have a tailored suit in their wardrobe,” Dream explains while Hob stands on the short platform and the seamstress takes his measurements. “A perfect fit is the raison d’être of custom suits.”
Hob swallows at the perfect French slipping past Dream’s lips. He had only been in Paris for a couple weeks yet he was already name-dropping influential French designers, recalling conversations he’d had with them in stories he’d recant to Hob in an accent that Hob never knew Dream could pull off. Or that he’d be so enticed by.
“I’ll never get the chance to wear this again, you know,” Hob smiled, a little self-deprecating. Working as a chef hardly afforded Hob time to dress up. And it wasn’t like he ever went anywhere fancy enough for such effort. “After the party, it’s just gonna sit in my closet forever.”
“We’ll make use of it…” Dream says softly, standing up as the seamstress steps away to grab something.
Dream takes up Hob’s arm, fingers trailing down the length of it, covered in a deep blue fabric that probably costs more than their monthly rent and Hob’s eyes never leave Dream as he inspects the pins and cuffs.
“A custom suit,” Dream starts again, dropping Hob’s arm and moving on to the front of the jacket, caressing the lapels. “Is designed to highlight the best features of its wearer. Bespoke tailoring is an art form, and you are the perfect canvas.”
Hob looks down at Dream, standing on the platform gives the illusion of added height, and Dream raises his eyes to look upon him. Hob tries very hard not to dive too deep into Dream’s blue eyes, tries not to get lost in the crystal clear sea of emotions, the way he could drown in them.
“And what are my best features?” Hob grins, raising an eyebrow, challenging.
Dream chuckles, tugging at the jacket. His eyes never leave Hob’s, even as the tailor returns.
“I’ll tell you later.”
There are a lot of big names and top designers at the event and Hob hasn’t a clue who any of them are, but he listens and nods when Dream points them out. He shakes hands with professional photographers and runway models and designers that Hob kind of recognizes but not really. He’s too busy marveling at the immaculate decor, the flowy dresses, and the free champagne.
Dream, as warned, leaves his side constantly. But Hob has perfected the art of fake-it-til-you-make-it and smiles cheerily and engages in simple chit chat where he lets the other person do all the talking and nods along enthusiastically. He tugs on the sleeves on his jacket, amazed how a well-fitted suit can feel like wearing nothing at all. The fabric is also high quality, buttery soft to the touch and moving along his skin with every step like a gentle hug. He feels a little like a poser, but after a few drinks in him, settles more into the mindset of a party crasher.
After about an hour of missing Dream, Hob goes looking for him. Weaving and winding through the crowd, finding Morningstar on a few occasions and blatantly ignoring her, especially as he doesn’t see Dream with her.
Hob finds a back entrance that’s all glass and slips through into the cool evening air and hears Dream’s unmistakable deep tenor, talking with someone privately.
And as Hob approaches, he notes the distinct agitation in Dream’s tone.
“... truly tired of finding you everywhere I go, Christian.” Dream sighs disdainfully.
“You should be in print,” another voice– Christian, speaks quickly, laying on the charm heavily. “I see the way Morningstar treats you.”
“They treat me fine. You, on the other hand–”
“I’d treat you so well, Dream.”
Hob finally rounds a corner and finds Dream leaning back against a wall of the mansion, holding a champagne flute that no longer has anything in it between them, as if using it as a barrier. Christian is leaning just a hair too close in Dream’s space and at the sight of it, Hob nearly sees red.
“Hey, Dream. I’ve been looking for you.”
Dream turns his head and at the sight of Hob, his face relaxes immediately. The impatient, frustrated look in his eyes, the furrowed brow, vanishing in relief.
Hob isn’t a jealous guy, and he knows it isn’t jealousy that he feels rushing through his veins. It’s possession. It’s some kind of embarrassing animal instinct to claim and parade about how that’s mine, back off.
So the way he slips next to Dream, getting an arm around his waist and pulling him into a kiss that absolutely doesn’t need to be as lascivious and biting as it is, feels both appropriate and completely unnecessary.
But the way Dream melts at the slip of Hob’s tongue, the way he’s kissing back, using his free hand to knot into the expensive fabric of his button down and pull, keeping him close, wipes Hob’s brain clean and nearly forgets why he’s doing this… until Christian clearing his throat makes its way past Hob’s ears.
They detach with a wet gasp and the way Dream chuckles, a low rumble that shoots straight through Hob’s chest and down to his crotch, makes Hob go back for another, and another. Lips only and chaste, but Dream still leans back respectably, turning his head to address the man before them with a sly grin as Hob nuzzles his way instead up his jaw and behind his ear.
“Christian, this is my fiance, Robert Gadling.”
“Uh, hi.” Christian bites out and Hob turns his head just enough to stare him down. “Didn’t know you were engaged.”
“You did.” Dream insists, extending his arm and pushing the empty glass into Christian’s fumbling hand. “You can leave, now.”
With a barely restrained sigh of “whatever,” Christian goes, shaking his head as he does and Dream takes Hob’s face in both his hands, bringing his attention forward.
“Sorry,” Hob cracks a grin. “I know you’re trying to network and he might’ve been some hotshot guy–”
“He was no one,” Dream interjects, his fingers getting in Hob’s gelled and combed back hair and pulling it. “And that was very hot. Thank you for saving me.”
“Anytime,” Hob laughs and Dream pulls him in to taste it.

Vampire Captures Vampire Hunter to Use as Bloodbag
Warnings: death, blood, vampire night club, kidnapping, human occasionally referred to as 'it'
A vampire hunter ambushes a vampire club with his crew -- but little does he know, the tables are about to turn, and not in the human's favor.
It was a day like any other, a group of friends hanging out at a top-notch club -- only this was a vampire club, exclusive to bloodsuckers alone. But somehow, news must have gotten out about it, because everything took a tragic turn. Vampire hunters came storming in right as the night was coming to a close. Those blasted party-crashers.
Alex assumed they must have been newer and more inexperienced hunters though, because no sane human would charge right into the middle of a group of predators. Because even with backup, and even armed to the teeth with silver and stakes, the hunters never really stood a chance.
A few unlucky vampires were killed during the initial attack, before the surprise wore off and the vampires retaliated. It was a bloodbath.
Human bodies littered the club floor by the end of it, and some of the vampires decided to take advantage of the opportunity for fresh blood. Others were still dispatching the last few surviving hunters, taking their sweet time. And Alex was one of them.
At the moment he had a young man pinned against the wall by the throat, but he didn't kill him quite yet. He merely watched the human struggle uselessly in his grip, clawing at his arms and snarling with teeth bared -- like a feral animal. He found it rather entertaining, how he still fought back even with no hope of winning.
"Alex! You gonna eat that one?" Alex craned his head to the side and flashed a fang-filled grin at Jack, his closest vampire friend, as he came up next to him.
"I'm certainly considering it," he chuckled, attention shifting back to the hunter in his claws. He saw a flicker of genuine fear in the human's eyes, so delicious and exciting as its wide eyes flicked between the two predators.
"Tonight turned out to be a disaster," Jack mused, running a hand through his hair. "I wonder who ratted us out to the humans. How did they get our location?"
"It could also merely be people sticking their noses where they shouldn't," Alex pointed out. "Only vampires are allowed access here. Why would a vampire rat out other vampires?"
"What if they caught one of us and tortured them into giving us away?"
Alex gave the hunter in his hold a rough shake. "Is that true? Did you interrogate one of us to find this place?"
The human just glowered venomously at him, a permanent glare etched into his features. Alex couldn't help but laugh at the petty show of defiance. It was cute, like a kitten spitting fire at a lion.
"...I think I actually have an idea for this one," he suddenly rumbled.
"What's that?" Jack asked.
"I think I might prefer to keep this one alive for now. Maybe turn him into a house pet or something."
Jack howled with laughter. "Keeping a hunter as your toy? That's pretty dangerous, my friend. They know how to kill us. It could turn on you at any second."
"I know. But I think it would make for a great challenge to break him in," Alex answered. "And it would prove beneficial to me as well. I'd have a constant food source at my disposal, so I wouldn't have to go to the trouble of catching fresh prey."
"I'm not going to be your pet," the hunter finally snarled, breaking his silence.
"Oooh--hoo! It's a feisty one, too!" Jack whistled. "Good luck trying to tame that spitfire!"
The human's face twisted with rage, and he suddenly kicked a leg out at Alex, aiming for his stomach to kick him away, but Alex snatched his ankle lightning-fast with his free hand, stopping him in his tracks.
"Bad idea, young one," he scolded mockingly, and tightened his grip around the hunter's throat, reveling in the panic that flashed in his prey's light brown eyes.
"The only advice I can give to you is to be careful, Alex. Who knows what this little beast is capable of." Jack giggled and ruffled the human's hair just to show he could, humiliating the creature further before he wandered off to talk to some other vampires.
Alex's sharp gaze swept over his catch, slow and appreciating. If he had to make a guess, he'd say the man was in his early twenties, a bold and impulsive individual from the looks of it. Didn't think things through before acting.
"I think we'll have a lot of fun together, don't you?" Alex cooed, and let go of the human's ankle to trail his fingers down the side of his soft neck, lingering over his skittering pulse. So fragile, so delicate a creature, so easily broken if he wasn't careful. He'd have to make sure to be gentle if he wanted the human to last. "What's your name, runt?"
"Curse you," the human spat viciously.
Alex cocked his head to the side, an amused smile playing across his lips. "Well, mister 'Curse You', what do you think about going on a little car ride?" he said smugly.
(I was originally planning this to be a standalone mini story, but now I'm wondering if I should turn it into a small series of 2-3 parts because it might have some potential with some intimate vampire whump feeding scenes. What do you all think? (Put suggestions in the comments I guess?))

It’s been a week since you met Seungcheol & his parents at the restaurant. You both had decided to give this a chance & both your parents were overjoyed.
You were currently getting ready to go on a date with him. You both decided to date first for a while & get to know each other better before settling down. Your parents understood & respected your choice, which you were grateful for.
Right as you were finishing up, you heard the doorbell ring. You fixed your hair one last time & then grabbed your purse & headed downstairs.
Since this was your first date you guys thought to keep it casual & just get to know each other first.
When you came down you saw your mom had already opened the door for him. When he saw you, he smiled, and your heart melted cause of his adorable smile. You smiled back & asked, “Ready to go?” “Yea,” he said “these are for you by the way,” he stated handing you a bouquet. You slightly blushed & thanked him, it was the first time a guy had given you flowers so you were thankful.
You both went out to his car. Him being the gentleman he is, opened your door to which you smiled at him & thanked him. He just smiled back & waited for you to get in before shutting it lightly. He got in & began to drive to the café you decided to go to.
When you reached he helped you out of the car & you walked in. “Why don’t we sit outside?” he suggested, you looked at the sky, it was a pleasant morning, not too sunny with a light breeze but also with enough warmth. “Sure,” you replied smiling.
You placed your orders & made your way to the outdoor patio. After you both settled down, he asked “So Y/N what should I know about you?” you laughed “I don’t know, what do you want to know?” “everything” he replied. You started talking about your family, your pets, what school you went to, your hometown, your friends, what you did in college, your hobbies, anything & everything you talked about he listened to you attentively & replying to you here & there showing you he was paying attention. You liked that about him. It was always hard finding someone who would listen to you, so you were glad he was. “So, now that I’ve told you everything about my life, tell me about you,” you said. He chuckled, “Well I have an older brother, but he lives abroad, I have a dog, I work at my dad’s company, my hobbies are…..” he went on. You were genuinely interested in everything he was saying.
As time went on you both grew more comfortable & you also found out you have much in common. He was also just so funny & sweet.
After that, you both continued to go on dates. Each one became more exciting. Seungcheol had taken you to an aquarium for your third date after you told him you loved otters, penguins & dolphins.
The next time he took you to an amusement park. Where you both went on every single ride & stayed till closing time.
Then you guys went to a place where you could make cute keychains & other crafts. You both made an adorable matching keychain for each other.
After a while, you both started dating officially. Both your families posted to social media about the good news to share with all your relatives.
They planned a party to celebrate it since it was the start of your engagement.
You walked in arms linked with Seungcheol. He went around with you introducing you to everyone & you did the same. Everything was going well. You were having fun & you were happy. You started to develop feelings for Seungcheol. You had a hunch he felt the same so you had planned to tell him how you felt tonight.
Both of your parents came up to the front to make a toast, “TO Y/N & SEUNGCHEOL!! HOPE THEY HAVE LONG, HEALTHY & BEAUTIFUL MARRIAGE” your parents shouted & everyone cheered.
Suddenly the door burst open & a girl came in. “EVERYONE STOP” she shouted looking around angrily. Everyone was confused about who this girl was & what she was doing here. “Excuse me but who are you?” his mother asked. Instead of replying to her she just marched toward you & ripped your arm from his. “Excuse me who even are you,” you asked angrily. The girl looked dead into your eyes & replied furiously, “I’M HIS GIRLFRIEND & HE’S THE FATHER OF MY CHILD” she said pointing at Seungcheol.

Let's take a day for the new one, Chapter 41's first half is live and it has a vibe with which I can jive. We don't have a whole lot in the way of funny panels this time but the atmosphere is just great. Everyone's hanging out at Cora's with the Donquixopticon Chamber that does have an equally corny name for realsies. Playing Daifugo and scheming for investigating Doffy's involvement with a Dark Bingo Tournament. No, it's not as much of a reference in Japanese. I got hopeful. These kind of moments are great though, lot of nice gags. I love how everything is interspersed with card plays, Daifugo is a fun game. Fruits Basket has it pop up and the old Tokyopop volume had the rules. Convinced a group of friends to play on a school trip once. Very fun memory. Get a load of Luffy cheating!
Where this gets cool is we do break up into teams based on the game. Worth mentioning it by the way, you could call it like "Tycoon" or "Millionaire." As a game it has a theme of wealth disparity and caste. So legitimately interesting to juxtapose with the Donquixote Brothers' origin story as well as what we potentially set up. Reminds me a little of both how we use Hawkins's tarot cards and the Go board in Wano. That's all the symbolic meaning for now, if it shows up again and terms are flummoxing someone gracious enough to translate, shoot me a DM. Moving on. New World parody, gotta split the party. One half will tail Doffy...and the other will investigate Onigashima Middle. Here's our groups:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well how about that? Miss Nami who mentioned having Kiku's contact info, Miss Robin who pondered how much she'd know, and Miss Vivi who was part of actually saving the day around Yamato's trip to the carnival are all on the Onigashima team. The team notably without someone in that guide role Cora's in for the party crashers. So surely we're about to have some girl time with your new tol buddy. Does Kiku get a nice cardigan like y'all have? I bet she'd like it. Recall our theory is that based on established norms and uniforms, it seems Kiku might already be a New World Middle student like Izo.
Chopper can come too and honestly I'm down with Brook being a part of this. I uh, wouldn't mind checking off finding out how our girl reacts to being propositioned about seeing her underwear while we're at it. Seriously though, high chance our most precious flower of Wano's much more obviously foreshadowed return in this series feels quite imminent.
Since the other team is going to like, a gathering of something that sounds way too much like the Black-Black Club for this not actually ending up being a YYH reference I wonder if Big Mom will work her way in. Totally would make sense with what we have set up. Is a little weird to have Doffy rubbing elbows with her over Kaido but he was always the broker for everyone it seemed. Wouldn't mind seeing schoolboy Perospero, we know Pudding in a sailor suit will be cute, and if I get Katakuri & Corazon in the same panel I know I'mma break reaction records again. Not to mention Jinbei's absence has been a lil fishy. I love where this is all heading, seems like it'll be really fun.

MUSA AND THE SPECIALISTS
SKY AND MUSA
They started to talk about the backflip Musa did in the "party crashers" episode, and from there Sky kept giving her training tips.
Sky sees how upset Musa was about Riven's betrayal and reached out to her. They started to get coffee and become friends.
Sky is always there to listen to Musa and they have a friendly, but not super close relationship.
Sky for whatever reason becomes protective over her, and as the seasons go on gets mad with Riven for how he treats her.
Definitely played a part in his change towards Musa, but not as big a part as the others did.
TIMMY AND MUSA
Originally started to talk because of Tecna. Timmy was super awkward but Musa gave him a space to talk freely.
Musa learned some tecnology talk from Tecna so could talk with him better than the other girls.
Musa and Timmy met by chance at the library and start studying together.
Timmy is impressed by her brain and Musa starts to bring out the chaos gremlin in Timmy.
He introduces her to games and she loves them.
She would beat someone up if they dared talk badly about him and he'd shoot them with his laser gun or hack into their computer.
NABU AND MUSA
At first Musa is mad he is stalking her bestie but after checking him out, she warms up to him and keeps an eye on him.
They happen to meet at boxercise one day and get coffee.
This happens more regularly and soon they get close.
Musa will go dancing with him and Layla as the third wheel.
Musa definitely threatened him.
They listen to music together and become closer.
He is protective over her and helps smooth Riven for her. A large part of Riven opening up to her is because of him.
HELIA AND MUSA
Met at the lake once and got talking about poetry and song writing.
They get closer and meet up for coffee\check out the art gallery.
He helps her see clearly when it comes to Riven.
Musa helps him tell Flora how he feels.
They often text each other and just hang out.
He apologised for the 'letting go of the monster thing' and she still teases him about it. Oh and the poem, because Layla totally told her and when he and Flora were official, she loves to tease him.
He lets her read his poetry and she lets him read her lyrics. They help each other improve.
Theu are very protective over each other. don't mess with either.
BRANDON AND MUSA
They just got talking when the girls all meet up and got along.
After the 'saving her from the witches thing' he checked up on her and made her still feel like a badass.
They jokingly flirt and if Riven and Stella weren't in the picture, who knows.
Brandon DID NOT take kindly to her dad threatening to take her out of Alfea.
They meet up often for coffee, sometimes with Sky, and just hang out a lot when he's not with Stella.
When Brandon tells the story of him falling off the cliff, she was NOT HAPPY.
Brandon was so thankful when Riven took Darkar's attack for her, and he is still upset he felt that way.
Don't mess with either. The other will come for you if you di.

wedding crashers
henchman 24 x gn!reader
24 had encountered so many unexpected twists and turns in life through his years as a henchman.
From somehow subduing and kidnapping Brock Samson right before the Monarch’s wedding to flying jet packs with his best friend, 21, he feels like he’s prepared for anything life would throw at him.
Except for the crisp, white invitation that sits in his hands announcing his dad’s marriage to his ex-girlfriend.
(part one of two - smut in part two!)
“Aw man, that is rough.” Gary mutters, his yellow glove-covered fingers snatching the invitation from his friend’s tight grip. He looks it over, grimacing at the details, before handing it back over to 24, “So you gonna go?”
“I mean do I have a choice? It’s my dad… plus I’m still paying him back for the Stanza.” 24 groans, burying his face into his hands as he tosses the invitation to the side, laying back on his bed.
“At least you’re not part of the wedding party, that would have been even worse.” Gary offers optimistically, “Well, who knows? Maybe you’ll meet someone and get some action.”
“Fat chance, I’ve met most of my ex-girlfriend’s family and they’re all either super old, super weird or hate my guts for some reason.” 24 sighs, “And my dad’s old so unless I want to sleep with a woman who’s old enough to be my mom, I’ll pass..”
“Well, at least you can get some free alcohol and food out of it.” Gary says, looking over the invitation once again, “Damn dude, they didn’t even let you have a plus one, I would have totally been up for crashing that wedding.”
“I’ll give you a play by play when I get back from it, probably gonna dip after dinner.” 24 sits up, swinging his long legs to the side of the bed, “I’m gonna go tell the boss I’m taking that day off and then I gotta figure out where to get a suit.”
-
The day had finally arrived and thankfully, the ceremony went by quickly.
When he arrived, 24 could practically feel the gazes on him - a mixture of pity from his dad’s side and hatred from his ex-girlfriend’s side.
He sits awkwardly in the second row, watching his ex-girlfriend and dad exchange vows while surrounded by distant relatives. His body tenses and his stomach churns as they both lean in for their kiss, looking down at his lap. His hands squeeze his knee-caps, the sound of cheering and clapping around him becoming background noise as he zones out.
Following the ceremony, he makes a beeline for the open bar for cocktail hour, ordering a beer. The suit he’s donning that he ended up renting feels even more stuffy than any henchman costume he’s worn as he tugs at the collar, loosening his tie a bit. As the bartender slides the ice cold beer over to him, 24 places a single into the tip jar before taking a hearty chug of the beverage.
Not wanting to mingle, he stays glued to the open bar, nursing his second beer. A few distant relatives greet him with pleasantries as they grab their drinks, and he winces each time they give him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, telling him some variant of “You can do better and you’ll find the one eventually.”
“I’ll take whatever glass of red you’ve got.”
24 glances over to see an unfamiliar face, certain that he knew everyone attending this wedding. He knows for a fact that you aren’t anyone within his dad’s friends circle, considering that you look closer in age to him, and he’s met all of his ex’s friends who were all bridesmaids. He’s intrigued and his eyes linger, assessing your features as well as your figure that is accentuated by your outfit.
His stare doesn’t go unnoticed, your eyes snapping up to meet his eyes. 24 quickly averts his gaze though he’s too late as you thank the bartender as he hands you a wine glass and make your way over to him.
You catch this stranger’s eyes lingering on you, and you’re pleasantly surprised that he’s actually quite cute, and also standing there alone.
Curiosity peaking and desperate to get away from another interrogation about your dating life, you greet him with a relaxed smile, taking a sip of your wine, “Mind if I join you? I’m trying to get away from making awkward small talk with old people I barely remember.”
“Sure, that’s what I’m trying to do too.” 24 says, his voice wavering a bit as he’s surprised your reaction to his staring isn’t one of disdain.
“Nice to meet you, by the way. Should have led with the introduction first.” You chuckle, extending your hand out and offering your name. 24 takes your hand, shaking it with an awkward grin, “Doug Jr. but you can just call me Doug.”
“Doug Jr? I’m guessing the groom’s your dad.” You put two and two together fairly quickly, glancing between the man before you and his dad who is across the room, chatting with his friends with his much younger bride by his side.
“Yeah, that’s my dad…” Doug trails off, rubbing the back of his neck as he hopes he can avoid going into further detail by quickly asking, “I’m guessing you know the bride?”
“Family friend, our moms were good friends in college, we grew up together but stopped talking once my family moved away. My mom dragged me to be her plus one since my dad couldn’t make it.” You explain, jerking your head to the two women standing a few feet away from the open bar, chatting up a storm.
Doug glances over your shoulder at the pair, quickly looking away as his ex-girlfriend’s mom catches him gazing. “That explains why I don’t recognize you…” He mutters to himself.
“Hm?” You say, not quite catching what he last said due to the background noise of chatter.
“Nothing!” 24 quickly stammers, tugging anxiously at his uncomfortable tie. His Adam's apple bobbing as he sees your mom and his ex-girlfriend’s mom approaching.
“Sweetheart, I’m gonna go find our table, I’ll see you inside!” Your mom calls out to which you turn your head, giving her a nod before turning your attention back to the lanky man before you. “I’m surprised you aren’t a part of the groomsmen, considering your dad’s the groom.”
Your comment caught him off guard and before he can fumble out a white lie, the bride’s mother swoops in, wrapping an almost protective arm around you. “Glad you could make it, dear.” She regards you in an endearing manner before giving a slightly less warm response to 24, “Same to you, Doug. Didn’t think you were coming considering the circumstances.”
Doug tensed at her sudden presence, taking a quick swig of his beer to muster up some liquid courage to respond. “Well, it is my dad’s wedding. Just came to support him.” He attempts to say nonchalantly but his tone comes out a bit shaky and nervous. You quickly catch onto it, eyes darting between him and her.
“Well, hope we can put that behind us. It’s water under a bridge now, at this point.” She replies curtly before letting go of her hold on your shoulders, reaching to give him a pat on the arm. Thankfully, your mom calls out for her, waiting by the doorway to the banquet hall. She dismisses herself, leaving the two of you standing there awkwardly.
“Well that was weird… what was that all about?” You say in a lighthearted manner but blink as Doug stares back at you with eyes the size of dinner plates. He looks like a deer in the headlights, his hand holding his beer slightly shaking. “You okay?” You say, concerned as you place your hand on his wrist.
This snaps him out of his trance and he can’t hold it back any more.
The pent up emotions finally burst through and he decides to let it out on you.
“No, I just watched my dad get married to my ex-girlfriend and everyone’s acting like that’s not the most fucked up thing ever. It’s practically incest!” Doug dumps all this information out before taking a swig of his beer. You stare back at him in disbelief, blinking as you digest all this information. Immediately, he attempts to take it back, “Oh crap, I’m sorry. I totally just trauma dumped on you.”
In response, you turn your head to the bartender, slipping a ten dollar bill into the tip jar, “Hey, can we get two shots of tequila? Keep em coming, all night.”
You turn back to face 24, ”Don’t apologize, I can’t believe you even showed up. I would have torn this whole place apart.” You say, handing a shot glass over to him, “I’ll keep you company, be your drinking buddy for the night. Cause there’s no way we’re getting through the rest of tonight sober.”
Doug stares back at you in awe, a sense of relief filling his body as he felt like he was going crazy that no one could see how ridiculous this whole scenario was, “I was already way ahead of you for that plan.” He grins, tipping the shot back, wincing slightly at the harsh taste.
Your lips spread into a wide grin as well, tossing back your shot as well.
“Let’s see what table you’re at, maybe we can swap seats. I’m sure my mom will be fine without me.” You say, grabbing his hand and tugging him towards the banquet hall.
You end up switching seats with one of Doug’s relatives who did not protest when asked, giving Doug a sly smile and a pat on the shoulder before heading over to the other table.
After scarfing down the free food and having a few more beers and shots in your system, the two of you sit at the table, while all the other guests have flocked to the dance floor. Doug’s tie sat on the white tablecloth, his top buttons undone as he quickly got tired of the stuffy attire.
“The worst part is that I didn’t even know they were dating! The wedding invitation just showed up at my doorstep.” Doug ranted, his cheeks tinted pink after having a handful of drinks in his system, “Like jeez, a bit of warning would’ve been nice.”
Your cheeks mirrored the same rosy hue as you shook your head in disbelief, chuckling dryly, “God, that’s so fucked.” You glance over your shoulder, nose wrinkling at the sight of the newlyweds dancing, the already odd image looking even more gross the longer you stared.
“Well, if it’s any consolation, you dodged a bullet. I’m sure you already knew this but she’s super high-maintenance. When we were growing up, she’d throw a tantrum whenever another kid had anything slightly nicer than what she owned. She always had to have the best.” You say with a light-hearted tone, placing a hand over Doug’s and squeezing it.
He can practically hear his heartbeat pounding in his ears at your touch and is thankful that the flush of his cheeks masks how his face heats up. “Well, I guess she decided my dad’s the best. I definitely couldn’t give her the lifestyle she wanted with my job and all.” Doug sighs, slightly dejected as he looks past your shoulder to see his dad and his ex-girlfriend beaming at each other.
You can tell what he’s staring at and decide to make a bold move in the hopes of taking his mind off the depressing circumstances. Your fingers quickly intertwine with his, tugging him up to his feet. Doug stares at you in surprise and confusion and you begin pulling him towards the dance floor, “Dance with me.”
“You sure? I have two left feet so don’t get mad at me if I accidentally step on your big toe or something.” Doug stammered but he didn't protest, letting you lead him. The lights are dim, your faces illuminated by the varying shades of colors. His clammy palms find their way on your hips as your arms wrap around his neck. The two of you sway to the music, awkward at first but slowly but surely you match the tempo.
Doug swallows a gulp, his gaze looking everywhere but your eyes. He hasn’t been this close to someone since his ex-girlfriend and just the feeling of your fingertips brushing against the nape of his neck is driving him wild. He is almost 100% he has a growing boner, praying that the dark material of his slacks and the dim lights masks it.
“You haven’t stepped on any of my toes yet, is this a new personal record?” You tease with a grin, admiring the adorable flush across his cheeks before your gaze trails down to the exposed skin that his slightly unbuttoned shirt shows off.
“To be honest, I’ve never danced with someone like this before.” Doug admits, finally looking down at you. His knees almost buckle as he melts under your gaze that looks up at him with an intensity he’s never experienced.
Your lips curl into a smile as he finally meets your eyes, “Really? Not even at like those awkward high school dances?”
“Do I look like the type of guy that would even have a date to a dance?” Doug says in a deadpan tone.
“Hey, you got a girlfriend at one point, didn’t you?” You chuckle.
“Yeah and you saw how that turned out.” Doug comments wryly.
Everything around the two of you seems to fade into the background, caught up in each other’s banter. The tension between the two of you is thick, waiting to see who will make the first move.
“Give yourself some credit, you’re pretty handsome.” You admit, the dangerous combination of the drinks in your system and wanting to feel more of Doug’s touch leading you to throw caution into the wind as you threw him a compliment.
“What’re you, blind? I mean I’m lucky to be even dancing with you, look at you!” Doug scoffs back, the compliment rolling off his tongue carelessly.
You both stared at each other for a prolonged period of time after both of you have admitted your attraction to one another. You lean forward, breaking the gap between the two of you as you press your lips eagerly against his. Doug’s eyes widen, the grip on your hips tightening before he shuts his eyes.
You two lock lips for what feels like an eternity before Doug reluctantly pulls away, an apology already stumbling out, “Oh shit, I-”
You tug slightly against the nape of his neck to pull him in closer, taking some control despite the clear height difference between the two of you. He yelps, quickly silenced as your eyes gaze into his intensely, “Just shut up and kiss me.”
Doug quickly follows your command, his sweaty palms reaching up to cup your cheeks. Both of your heads tilt to deepen the lip lock. The lanky henchman lets you take the lead, his inexperience showing as you take the initiative to slide your tongue against his.
The taste of beer and tequila linger on your tongue as Doug finally musters up the courage to tangle his tongue against yours. You slowly pull away with a grin, almost giggling as you practically hear a whine emanate from Doug’s throat.
“Wanna get out of here? I’m all for continuing this make-out sesh but I’d prefer not doing it in the middle of a dance floor where people are starting a Conga line near us.” You chuckle breathlessly, nodding towards the crowd that had started to form in front of the DJ booth to start a conga line.
“Sure… wanna just make out in the back of my Stanza? There’s a lesser chance of us getting caught there than any of the bathrooms.” Doug offers.
“I’m game, it’s like we’re teenagers again.” You laugh as Doug takes your hand, “Lead the way.”
You both walk out of the reception unnoticed, and Doug gets to leave without even thinking about his dad and ex-girlfriend’s marriage.

Do you think Marinette has trauma in s4/has trauma from Chat Blanc? I've seen people say that she doesn't because she doesn't have multiple breakdowns or wake up from nightmares in multiple eps or constantly think about Chat Blanc. Or that the show needs to show it more explicitly and frequently for it to count
First, thank you for your patience, Anon!
Second, I’m no psychologist nor therapist, but as far as I know, nightmares and flashbacks are only a few of the many symptoms and manifestations of Post-Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (and according to the US Department of Veteran Affairs and common reactions after trauma, they are even regrouped has one and single item).
Meaning that if you only focus on those because this is all that you know how PTSD is visually represented in fiction, then you are missing on other key symptoms that hint someone may have PTSD. I say “may” because you need to check a certain number of symptoms to have a diagnostic.
Anyway, I recommend @gentil-minou 's ml psychology analysis on Marinette during S4 (although, it was written right after Kuro Neko and is missing a few episodes, but nonetheless a very good starting point).
Some will agree Marinette has indeed PTSD, but disagree that Chat Blanc is the cause. For this, I will refer to what Jonathan Decker - licensed therapist and co-creator and co-host of the YT channel Cinema Therapy - says when he summarizes PTSD and the trauma that cause it :
“PTSD occurs when you think your world is safe and then realized that it isn’t”.
Marinette as Ladybug, as a superhero, deals with danger everytime she is facing an Akumatized. But she always finds a solution at the end. She always figures out her Lucky Charm, always find a way to grab the akumatized object, break it and free the victim from Hawkmoth. Plus, her supepower allows her to restore any damage done by the Akumatized and the consecutive battle. So, it always work out and if she ever fails, she can raises again and try something else (though she may or may not need a little pep talk). And the reason why she accepts to be a superhero in the first place is in order to help her friends and loved ones (Alya in Origins).
But despite being a superhero, Marinette also realizes she herself is not immune to akumatization. She has negative emotions too therefore it is a possibility and there were close calls too. The first instance is during Zombizou. Marinette knows her negative emotions originally attracted an Akuma. During Heroes Day, she saw an illusion showing an akumatized Ladybug fighting Chat Noir. In Chameleon, she almost got akumatized but manages to avoid it. And during the episode Ladybug, she got a really close call of being akumatized as well to the point she did not resist and could have given her Miraculous to Scarlet Moth.

But the thing is she knows and accepts her own vulnerability. She is human like everyone else around her and can fall victim of her negative emotions. During S2-S3, she has a network. She has Chat Noir. Master Fu could also help then since he can distribute the Miraculous like he did during Party Crasher when she is incapacitated. There are rules like maintaining the secret identity between Chat Noir and her, so if one is ever akumatized, the other still has a chance.
But while she knows her own vulnerability and can deal with it with rules (control) and back-up plans, there is one person she never thought would actually be akumatized. And that is Chat Noir.
Brainwashed or incapacited by akumatized villain power? Sure, happened plenty of time.
Arriving late for whatever reason? Harder, but it’s manageable.
But an akumatized Chat Noir? What it the world happened to him?!
All she hears is that their love lead to this post-apocalypse. Chat Blanc was clear that they were both in love and dated each other and that their secret was discovered by Hawkmoth and he used it against them. Chat Blanc even call her by her real name revealing her the secret identity rule fell apart and was breached.
Marinette is not only confronted to a future where her partner is indeed akumatized, she also witnesses her future self died unable to save her partner and everyone else.

Usually, when Marinette fails, she can try again and something else. But here, that failure was fatal. Game Over. The shock is even greater when she never thought Chat could be able to do such a thing. Akumatized normally spares their loved one. But in this scenario, no one was spared. Everything and everyone was destroyed.
Of course, Ladybug was greatly upset and questionned Chat Blanc about it. All he says was that it was an accident. Not only that, she even see that Chat Blanc has the potential to put an end to the world.
That is the main difference with everything else. I bolded the elements that play into triggers to Marinette during S4.
Truth, Lies, Gang of Secrets, Crocoduel, Mega Leech, Sentibubbler, Glaciator 2, Ephemeral, Kuro Neko, and of course Strike Back all have parts of the answer.
Truth : Marinette is witholding her secret identity from Luka who she is dating. And it caused him to be akumatized who is out to find her secret which would get known by now Shadow Moth. Not only Marinette breaks with Luka at the end because her secret identity is an obstacle into establishing a mutual relationship with him and it will only hurt him, she also decides she cannot allow herself to date anyone.
Lies : LB’s reaction as Chat Noir tell his plan to sacrifice himself in order to drive Lies’ attention is more panicked than usual. Like, compare it to Gamer 2.0. She doubts herself about being able to save him and protect him.
Gang of Secrets : She distances herself of not just Chat Noir, but her friends as well. The latters get akumatized because of that rejection. At the end, Marinette breaks because she cannot support all that pression all alone anymore and tells her secret to Alya.
From that point on, Marinette relies more and more on Alya over Chat who is her partner. That is a survival mechanism. And also, subconscious.
Crocoduel : I’m putting it here because it feels like Marinette has projected a lot of her Chat Blanc trauma into Luka after breaking-up with him (or at least, it is starting to be build that way). Thus why she is avoiding Luka altogether at this point because she doesn’t want to have the Talk™ even though she need to talk to him one day. To be fair, she always has that tendency to avoid hard discussion. But her thinking Luka would be akumatized because of her again feels that there is more to it than what happened during Truth. Marinette has a wild imagination, but even Alya is thinking that Marinette is exaggerating and fails to understand Marinette’s perspective there.
Mega Leech : There is a little scene in which Chat Noir is brainwashed by Malediktator without her knowing and grab her -- which she obviously didn’t find it funny -- but this episode is the start of Ladybug building a bigger team to assist her out as part of her solution to her problem. The writers even make a foreshadowing through Chat Noir when he says “Hey! Wait for me, guys! Group pose!”. Which later plays out for both Ephemeral and Kuro Neko.
Sentibubbler : The obvious one because of the Chat Blanc cameo during Marinette’s nightmare. I let you read@geekgirles ‘s excellent analysis about Marinette’s subconscious.
Glaciator 2 : I stand by this, but the gossip news about Ladybug and Chat Noir dating triggered Ladybug. Thus why she becomes so upset. And since she never told Chat Noir about the Chat Blanc timeline (that he was akumatized because they were dating in said timeline), he is not understanding what she is currently living and worst, he was putting oil in the fire with his jokes there even if his intentions were just to relax the situation.
Ephemeral : I think this one goes without any further explaination, no? Whole episode is about the secret identity. Sass having to use his Second Chance power without a Holder to this very moment is a huge indicator that she was about to make an horrible mistake that would have disastrous consequences. And it reinforces Ladybug’s belief it is better off to not have any identity reveal in the first place.
Kuro Neko : Similar beginning as Ephemeral. Except this time, Chat Noir is demotivated (read depressed) due to Ladybug keeping him in the dark and putting him at a distance throughout the season. And Ladybug is not noticing how much her actions and solutions to avoid her trauma are affecting him. Ladybug also doesn’t think clearly once she sees a huge Black Cat with a bell. Not only is she convinced that is an Akumatized Chat Noir, she wrongly believes the bell is the akumatized object. Her trauma is leading her to those assumptions even when evidences are pointing out elsewhere.
Strike Back : The dialog between LB and CN who are both affected by Risk. How Ladybug has taken all those risks in order to protect him (when she took that decision by herself, without consulting with Chat first). And of course, because she never told him about the Chat Blanc timeline, he cannot understand her pov.
To me, when you pay attention (and watching the episodes in order helps too) there is a build up. Of course, this post is a quick sum up of an entire season. If you want a more profound analysis of Marinette’s actions through season 4, I invite to watch Youtuber Toon Ruins video essay on S4 Marinette.
And please note that, as season 5 is about to start, the Chat Blanc trauma is still lingering. And you cannot properly fix something unless the core gets adressed. Adrien and Marinette fixed a lot of what they thought were the problems, when they haven’t adressed the cause of said problems. So, yeah, Chat Blanc trauma arc isn’t over yet.
