I know I suggested the same drabble but from Leon's POV as a hypothetical, but then I wrote it in a blind sweat in the middle of the night. It's crazy to put these two side by side and see how unreliable these narrators are.

Companion piece to this story.

Triggers warning: Drugs, discussion of past situations where drugs and sex is mixed in bad ways, self victim blaming, Orre's fucked up views of consent, implied prostitution and self harm. Everything but the drugs is past tense and only discussed. Dead dove: do not eat.

Leon clung to Sparky, feeling the wind whip through his hair as they soared through the sky. The moon was full and shining, illuminating the Wild Area beneath them.

Normally flying with Charizard was exciting, never failing to fill him with joy. But all he could feel was the gnawing pit in his stomach, his sole focus was finding Wes.

"You can do whatever you want to me. I don't mind."

He had pretended to believe Wes when he said that whatever drug was mixed in that drink wouldn't affect him. But when they had left the club, alone in an alleyway, and Wes had said some very concerning shit- his boyfriend panicked and fled like a cornered Deerling. Leon was left alone and reeling, mind trying to connect an incomplete puzzle, absolutely terrified for what it could mean.

After that, the only thought on his mind was finding Wes and making sure he was safe.

Unfortunately, his lack of directions was coming to bite him in the ass. He could swear that they've been flying around the same hilltops for several minutes now, and Sparky's sense of direction wasn't much better than his.

"Skarm!"

Leon's head whipped around at the cry. Wes's Skarmory had flown up to them, and that Pokemon was almost always at his side.

"Sparky, follow Skarmory!"

"Zard!"

In what felt like forever, but was realistically only a few moments, they were descending to the crumbling watchtower. As soon as Charizard had landed, Leon was scrambling off, kneeling next to his boyfriend.

Wes was sprawled out on his back, gaze fixed up at the sky. As he looked closer, he noticed the blood starting to gather alongside the white powder underneath his nose, and how unfocused and out of it Wes looked.

Leon reached out, gently brushing Wes’s bangs out of his eyes. His heart clenched at how uncharacteristically dazed and almost lifeless his boyfriend looked. If it wasn't for the warmth under Leon's fingers and the slight rise and fall of Wes’s chest, he'd think the man was dead.

"Hon..."

After a few moments where the only response he got were slow blinks, Leon made the executive decision to pick Wes up. He carefully put his arms underneath Wes, lifting him up almost effortlessly into his lap. The position certainly wasn't comfortable for Wes, but when he wrapped his arms around Wes, he could rest one hand on the side of his neck to feel his pulse.

46 bpm. Way below normal for Wes, but not dangerous. He's a little cold, but he's also been out in the open for Arceus knows how long and he's a little cold blooded.

The knowledge that his boyfriend was safe and in his arms released some of the tension in his body. While Wes was the opposite of healthy, he didn't immediately need to be rushed to the hospital.

One of these days Leon was going to convince him to see a doctor, but not right now.

Wes was also relaxing in his arms. His head was pressed right next to Leon's heart. He didn't know if it was Leon's heartbeat (which was running fast due to feeling like he'd run a marathon at full sprint in the past two hours) or the act of being held, but Wes was relaxing.

It scared Leon how limp and pliant he was in his arms.

"Love, what did you do?"

"Took some coke to forget. Sorry."

Leon sighed, unsurprised but not any less worried, pulling out the cheap napkin he nabbed from the club. Mindful of how raw the area was, he gently dabbed the blood and coke from Wes’s nose, trying not to hurt him.

"You need to talk to me, hon," Leon muttered, gently shifting Wes in his lap so that he would be more comfortable. He also made sure to press Wes's chest against his: he knew he naturally ran warm, and he wanted to warm Wes up.

Once he was done, he gently pressed a kiss to his Love's forehead, carefully wiping away the tears gathering in his eyes. He could feel the knife twisting in his heart at the sight, but this was something he needed to do. He needed to know, no matter how much it hurt.

"I- I can't."

"Love, please." Leon was begging, eyes burning as he was holding back tears. "I want to help, but I need you to talk to me."

"I don't want to remember."

"I know, and I'm sorry, but I need to know. I don't want to hurt you."

"I don't mind. You can hurt me. Probably won't remember anyways."

If he felt like a knife was being twisted in his heart before, he just got stabbed in the chest. He couldn't stop the tears from falling, just barely biting his lip to keep himself from sobbing.

He felt Wes shift in his arms, leaning forwards and essentially face planting on his neck. His boyfriend was the one who needed him, yet he was trying to comfort Leon. The attempted kiss was enough for him to get a hold of his emotions again.

This isn't about you. Get a grip, Champ.

He reached up, trying to wipe away tears but mostly just smearing his face. Ever so gently, he coaxed Wes's face away from his neck, lifting him up and gently pressing a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead.

It was his way of saying both sorry and thank you.

"Hon, I love you so, so much. I know you don't want to remember, but you have to. I don't want what happened earlier to ever happen again, which means we need to be on the same footing."

He waited patiently for an answer. He promised a long time ago that he'd always stay by Wes's side, and that was truer now than it's ever been.

"Okay."

"Thank you." He moved his hand to gently cup his boyfriend's face, stroking his cheek with his thumb. "Earlier, when you said that... When you said that being drunk or high never mattered before..."

"It doesn't."

"It absolutely-" Leon was caught completely off guard, scrambling for a response. "You can't consent to sex when you're drunk, or high, or coerced."

Wes hummed. "I don't- I've never been sober for it. Never wanted to be."

"Never been- What do you mean, never wanted to be?"

"Sometimes after I agree to a trade, I take somethin' so that I don't remember."

"That's not..." Leon was grasping at straws, trying to explain how that was completely fucked up. "If you have to take drugs to cope with it then you didn’t consent- you didn't really say yes."

"Back home it didn't matter, it just mattered that you didn't say no."

The words hit Leon in the throat this time, and he couldn't hold back tears anymore. "That's not how that works! That's not how any of that works!"

"It's fine, Lee-"

"It's not! Nothing about this is okay!" He was searching, trying to grasp for a single good experience Wes has ever had. "Fucking hell. Have you ever had sex sober?"

"Sometimes. When I don't have time to take drugs first."

"Fuck that's not- Have you ever said yes, when you genuinely wanted to, and you were sober?"

Wes was the one to break eye contact, looking away from him. He didn't say anything: it's not like he needed to. The silence spoke for him.

Leon remembered how prostitution was listed as one of Wes's crimes on his wanted poster, even on the ones printed before he was 18. He remembered earlier, when they were getting handsy and Wes just stopped moving, his eyes going blank. He remembered how confused Wes looked when he backed off. He remembered the face of the boy on the wanted posted printed when Wes was 14.

Leon felt like he was going to puke. "Fucking hell-"

"You don' have to cry for me," Wes muttered. "I agreed to those deals. I got high with Cail knowing what would happen-"

"That doesn't- No, I'm not letting you blame yourself!"

"You should. I'm not worth it."

"I'm not worth it."

That was what broke him. His sweet, wonderful boyfriend- who has a bond with every Pokemon he meets unlike anything he's ever seen before, who fought an entire region to protect his Espeon and Umbreon, who pretends not to care despite the fact that Leon's caught him repeatedly sneaking them treats, who will cry every single time if a Pokemon dies in a movie, who pushed himself out of his comfort zone in order to give Leon a ferris wheel date even though he hated people- had been raped so often that he thought it was normal. And instead of rightfully blaming everyone who hurt him, he blamed himself. He thought he was worth so little that he thought Leon should blame him.

Leon clung to Wes as he broke down, sobbing into Wes’s shoulders. He couldn't pinpoint what exactly he was feeling: rage, grief, helplessness. It all blended together, and the only thing he could do was sob pathetically as he clung to Wes.

And then, in his arms, Wes started to cry too.

Unlike Leon's loud ugly cries, Wes was completely silent, instead shaking violently. He was still limp, but Leon could feel him jerking and spasming in his arms. Leon was still a slave to his own emotions, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop himself.

A small part of him thought they were grieving together.

Eventually, his body set him free. He felt completely drained of energy, but he muscled past the exhaustion to take care of Wes, properly holding him in his arms instead of clinging to him like a Teddiursa. He managed to muster up enough energy to rub Wes's back in a breathing pattern.

He never felt more helpless than knowing that his boyfriend was sobbing and that he could do nothing about it.

Eventually, after Arceus knows how long, Wes's sobs began to ebb. Tears were still running down his face, but he wasn't hyperventilating or shaking anymore.

For a few minutes, they sat in silence, with Leon continuing to rub Wes's back. He didn't know if it was for Wes’s sake or his.

"I'm sorry." Wes was so quiet that Leon almost missed it.

"Don't- Don't apologize. I'm sorry so many people hurt you."

"Lee..." Wes’s voice was raspy, and it sounded like it physically hurt to speak.

Leon leaned down to press a kiss to the top of Wes's head. There was something he remembered, something that Wes had asked him in that alleyway before he ran off.

"Earlier- You asked me what I wanted from you."

Wes hummed in response. He hesitated for a moment: it was selfish of Leon to ask this of him when he was under the influence of two different drugs. But even though he felt bad for taking advantage of Wes's high state, he needed the reassurance that his boyfriend was still going to be there the next morning.

"All I want is for you to get better. All I want is for you to be happy and healthy and safe. Can you promise me? Promise me you'll get better? No drinking, no drugs, none of this pushing to be hurt?"

"I can't promise safe. Lotta people want me dead."

"I know. I just don't want you to be one of them."

Leon waited with bated breath. He knew that after a lifetime of doing the exact opposite, asking Wes to take care of himself would go against everything he's known. But now that he's in Leon arms, he never wants to let Wes go, and he will fight everyone who will try to take the man away from him. Even if that's Wes himself.

Despite what Wes thinks, he deserves all of Leon's love, the world, and more. One day, Leon will make sure that Wes sees himself the way Leon sees him.

Wes's answer was so quiet that he almost missed it. "I'll try."

"That's all I ask." He knew he wasn't going to get a solid promise, but the knowledge that Wes was going to try to get better still soothed him.

"I can't- I can't do it on my own."

"I know. But you aren't on your own. You have Sonia, and Piers, and your friend from Unova. And I'll always be here."

"Always?"

"Always."

For the first time all night, Leon saw Wes’s eyes fall shut. Because he was going to keep him safe. "Thank you."

"I love you. Which means that I'll always be here."

Leon meant every single word. He'll stay by Wes's side forever. He'll always be there for whatever Wes needed from him. Leon's love was unconditional, and now that they were in each other's lives, there's nothing that will drive him away.

He knows that Wes is willing to lay down his life for him. He hopes that at some point, Wes will be willing to live for him. And he wishes that at some point, Wes will be able to live for himself.

But that's a battle he'll have to face tomorrow. Right now, they were both exhausted, and they needed rest.

As Leon looked up at the sky, he had an idea. He slowly leaned backwards until his back was on the ground, with Wes sprawled out atop him. While he adjusted both of them to be more comfortable, he turned his head to address Charizard.

"Sparky, can you go pick up Espeon and Umbreon?"

Wes sighed. "Should probably apologize to the bastards for leavin' em down there."

"You can do that tomorrow, love."

He winced. "Tomorrow's gonna suck ass."

Leon chuckled a little. "Yeah, probably. But I'll be here to help."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

He watched Wes slowly succumb to sleep, his breathing evening out. Leon managed to wrangle the Pokemon so that Wes’s Espeon and Umbreon were cuddling them both and so that they were laying within Charizard's curled up form. Sensing that their trainer needed his sleep, Umbreon and Espeon didn't bother Wes, instead finding spots to curl up and snuggle.

After making sure everyone was comfortable, Leon turned his gaze up to the stars. He didn't often pray, but he prayed to Arceus to be kind to Wes. His Love deserved a good future, and he was determined to give it to him.

He drifted off with a selfish wish. I want to be able to show Wes what sex making love should truly feel like.

One of my complaints in JN was that it completely ignored the DLC characters. Like, it shafted about half of Galar's Gym Leaders and even the rivals until, like, episode 90 (and Bede still never appeared), but literally the only DLC character to be featured at all was the mayor of Freezington. (Mustard and Peony? Two Champion-rank Trainers, both with connections to the pasts of main characters like Leon and Rose, who would have been awesome opponents for Ash? Never appeared once.)

I'm still on my way to Goldenrod City, but I've been reallyreally thinking.

The human world is reallyreally different from what I know, with its trainers and gyms and leagues and human teams.

It's reallyreally weird. Humans are reallyreally weird.

I've met lots of reallyreally nice humans, like Wally and Shauna and Lance and Mustard and the old human in Kalos. But also lots of reallyreally mean humans, like Proton and Oleana and the Silph Co leader and Ghetsis and the human with the bent metal sticks in Alola. And lots of humans who are in between.

People keep asking me why I'm a trainer, even though I'm a Zorua. And I reallyreally don't know. I heard about trainers, when I woke up in this world, and I thought it'd be reallyreally fun to try it. And now I'm the champion of three regions.

I didn't expect to get this far. I still reallyreally don't know what I'm doing, even now.

But it's reallyreally fun, being a trainer. Traveling around the human world, meeting lots and lots of different humans. They all look reallyreally similar, but the ways they talk, act, battle, everything, it's all reallyreally different from human to human.

But I haven't met any other trainers who are Pokemon like me. I'm the only trainer I know of who's a Zorua, or any other Pokemon.

It's reallyreally lonely. And sometimes I wonder if I'm not supposed to be a trainer, that Zoruas can't be trainers.

I'm scared of more humans finding out I'm not human. Lance was reallyreally nice about it, and so was N and Wally and Shauna, but Oleana was reallyreally mean about it. I'm reallyreally scared that lots of humans won't like me for being a Zorua.

I don't know how much longer it'll stay a secret. According to Petrel, all of Team Rocket already knows.

ya girl is back with some galar-champ goodness! i gotta say, the living-with hcs have to be some of my favourite to write, i love the cute domesticity of it all. i wrote over 1k words of this to prove it! and i still probs have more to say

With his busy schedule, you could go a long time without seeing him in person

Truth be told, Leon's Wyndon penthouse wasn't much of a home before you moved in

It was picked out by Chairman Rose, paid for by him actually

Despite having lived there for YEARS

It never felt like home to Leon

Just a place to sleep, eat and workout

He never had the time (or motivation) to really just make it his own

With the exception of Hop's bedroom, which the two of them lovingly decorated together

He really wanted his brother to feel loved and comfortable whenever he stayed over

He wants you to feel that way too!

Lee lets you go as crazy as you want when it comes to redecorating

It's YOUR home now, and you'll be spending way more time in it

Even if it's not his taste, he still enjoys seeing your personal touch shine through the décor

Places you were not allowed mess with were Hop's room (duh), the gym and the master bathroom

Those last two are his sanctuaries! 

His gym isn't big by any means, but it has all his usual workout machines and free weights

A mat and bag for him to practice the fighting skills he learned from Mustard

Some stuff for his Pokemon to train too!

He likes to exercise in the mornings

At 5am eek

He invites you to join, though you usually just decline because that's VERY early and your bed is too big and cosy and warm and lovely

Sometimes though, you haul the covers into the gym and watch him work out all bundled up

Thoroughly enjoying yourself at the sight of his flexing muscles

While he thoroughly enjoys your shameless admiration

The one thing you do tend to join in as part of his work-out routine is the shower afterward ;)

Speaking of

The bathroom… omg the bathroom

There's a giant tub with jets

And he's got all the essentials

Bubble bath, bath bombs, Epson salts for when your muscles are cranky

He even has dried expensive seaweed from Hoenn if you want a seaweed bath that makes your skin so utterly soft

You swfinitely try and have a bath together once a week, it's the perfect way to de-stress, but also pamper yourselves!

His shower is also HUGE

And has jets too

Plus a waterfall option that makes it feel like you're in a sexy shampoo commercial

You have spent literally HOURS in there, it's so luxurious

And he can’t even complain because there’s plenty space for the two of you!

The drain gets clogged so easily from all his hair rip

Leon definitely takes care of appearance

His skincare routine is just perfection

His beard doesn't happen like that naturally either, he shaves quite regularly to keep the style neat

When you can, you love brushing Leon’s hair

He loves it too!

It’s so comforting for him, makes him feel all fuzzy

He likes when you style it too, even if it ends up a lil’ wonky

Like a lot of things about Leon his house, his TV is huge

He has a switch too!

Naturally, he gets competitive when you’re racing against each other in Mario Kart (but in a good-natured way!)

Cuddling on the couch while watching a movie is mandatory

If you EVER secretly watch the next episode of a show you’re supposed to watch together he will never speak to you again

His skill in the kitchen is not equal to his skill in battle, but he’s still pretty good

His meals tend to be on the healthier side, but he uses a lot of spices and seasonings to make them tastier

He makes a LOT of protein shakes be warned

Sometimes he even makes you breakfast in bed <3

He definitely has a secret stash of goodies for emergencies/when he doesn’t have to keep as lean during off-season

Of course, you do get curries from your local takeaway now and again!

Like every Galarian household, tea is sacred in your home

Both of you know exactly how the other likes theirs, and you both make sure it’s made to perfection each time

However you do butt heads on what biscuit to pair with your tea (and even the dreaded dunking debate :o )

By nature of the Pokemon League being such a phenomenon in Galar

Sponsorships are a huge deal

Meaning you often end up with a ton of free stuff

Leon lets you go through the goodies and take what you like

Most of the stuff is battle/sport related

You also end up with a lot of those rich people kitchen gadgets that are so much worse than what you already have

When he's had a rough day, coming home to you is simply heaven

He'll climb into your arms and bury his face in his chest

Holding you so tight in the security of your shared space

While you play with his hair

In here, with you, there are no fans, no executives, no great big titles, no legacy to defend within an inch of his life

It’s just two lovers, taking care of each other

While he likes the apartment well enough (especially now with you in it)

He certainly does not plan to stay there forever

After he loses the champion title, he moves you into a beautifully vintage townhouse near the Battle Tower

It's definitely cosier and more lowkey

With room for a (sizable) family if that's your plan

And ofc a home gym and fancy bathroom

Plus a garden too, which you didn't have before!

He indulges himself a little and gets a cottage in Postwick for you to escape to when the hustle and bustle of the city gets a bit too much

dragon and history nerd raihan x art and pokemon battling nerd leon. thoughts?

Thank you for the ask!! I have a lot of thoughts on these two, SPECIFICALLY in the realm of their interests outside of battling (even though with Leon I think that can get a bit muddled). But I'll put them under a read more since it might get long >:3c

With Raihan, once I started looking into him as a character more, I found his fascination and love of history in the canon parts of the story (which to me always fall in the game and manga, as the anime does deviate and seem to have its own canon), and clearly he has a reverence and interest in Galarian history, despite battling in the tapestry vault. I've always pictured him as the sleeper intellect of the group, where it's obvious with someone like Sonia, but Raihan rolls up to the function listing off Galarian history facts like it's a Top 10 video. Honing in on that, I personally think Raihan's an architectural nerd kind of guy, where he's interested in Galar's historical castles, buildings, their style changes through the eras, ect. And of course this guy is the Dragon Type guy to end all Dragon Type guys. I don't think anyone who isn't locked in on every single aspect of how they work would also be able to manipulate the weather like that, while also giving other gym leaders, notably Kabu, help and recommendations on other Pokemon that aren't Dragon Types (they're Tor-colleagues!!). How that looks has been warped by my many hours of fic reading and talking with @beammeupbroadway about the subject, but I genuinely think he's interested mainly in two aspects: 1. the preservation of Dragon Type habitats in Galar and 2. ethical breeding and raising of Dragon Types for rehabilitation, training, or release into the wild. Raihan prides himself on the care and upkeep of his dragons, spending a lot of his free time dedicated to further research of that topic, all so he can keep up to date with it. I'm also a pretty big proponent of Raihan being the kind of guy who lets his Pokemon free roam around his living space, as it's also their space, and therefore it's a very dragon type friendly place.

Also, I know the ask says that Leon is the art nerd, but I genuinely think that's more Raihain, though I think Leon has an appreciation for it (I'll get into that). Raihan's thing is partly to do with his love of history and architecture, which turned into a deep appreciation and understanding of art, and Galarian artistic movements, while also being the selfie/Pokegram guy. As an example:

The back of his League Card made me laugh the first time I read it, because I do think he takes very stereotypical artsy pictures, uploads them, and confuses people because I don't think people quite get the vision or reference he's making.

For Leon, battling nerd goes way beyond just being on the pitch. I think canon has my back for that, with the Battle Tower, the two tournaments he's organized, and just his general love of the sport of it all. And, for once, I will credit the anime with showcasing that, where his battle with Ash was one of the few times I think it got Leon's characterization pretty well. More than that, Leon to me found his love of battling early, adapts easily, and at least always seems eager to watch a match, if not participate himself. I know Twilight Wings shows Hop watching reruns of matches, but I think Leon would as well. Sometimes his own, but often older matches, when they were first being recorded. Depending on how far back Mustard was Champion, some of those old matches (though Pokemon tech has always been something I'm iffy about in the timeline, and have been since I was a young kid). It's something he's genuinely hype about, and something he loves, to the point his experiences with Rose and being Champion couldn't kill that for him, and it's part of why I love him as a character. Cycling back to the art thing, I don't personally see Leon as an art nerd exactly, but I think he appreciates art. Kind of guy to like weird pieces of art in a museum and get weirdly attached to them. Museum dates between the two is just Raihan telling Leon why a painting is historically significant, and Leon staring at it like he's rewiring his brain. But, if you ask my opinion on his other big hobby, I think he's an avid reader. As Champion I don't think he had time for it, and I have a whole other tangent I'll save about my thoughts on his education, but I think he loves reading. If it's in book form, the topic could almost not matter, he would probably read it if it's well written.

How this all comes together? Both of them as a couple? First off, I don't think they stop talking, ever. They say goodnight, snuggle in bed, but one of them is still rattling on about whatever thing is stuck in their brain until sleep takes them. Second, when I think of them in my mind palace, they're always partaking in their hobbies together. Raihan is cleaning his dragons, caring for them, Leon is right there helping him, learning all that he can about it. Leon is working out his latest battle line up for whatever he wants to test out, Raihan is the guinea pig, happily, each and every single time. They're sitting in the sun, Leon reading his book and Raihan is posting his latest batch of pictures. Together, I think they have a lot of angst potential, but at the end of the day I think they settle into life where once they figure out how to channel all of the years of being made to be rivals and opposite the other, they come together in a harmony that works. I always picture them on very secluded dates, Raihan dragging Leon out to check on the dragon nests, or Leon begging Raihan to go get lost with him, or in those museums looking at old shit because why not? They have the time, each other, and they've spent years getting to know the other in battle, why not give the same energy and determination in life?

Honestly, going further in on this, my headcanon for Raihan, when he stops being a gym leader, is that he becomes a History Professor of some flavor. That isn't original, but I agree with it full stop. And I think Leon keeps up his battling facilities until it stops being fun for him, whenever that is. And they support the other, and it's nice to think about <3

Vēnātrīx was discovered after the law exposed an illegal breeding program taking place; I found her whilst I was helping Gym Leader Milo sort them out, and she was completely ostracised by the other Hatenna - so I took her in as my own. She is very stubborn, close to impossible to budge when she’s made her mind up. However, she also gets excited by things very easy - commonly seen with a giddy attitude.

Teivul was given to me by Dojo Master Mustard after I completed all three trials given to me, and we trained together closely for a long time.
