WOW! Now THAT'S what I call MEAN LESBIANS!

This is one of those pairings that are so similar it makes them argue all the time. Girls who cope with deep rooted self image issues in particular regarding their ability to relate to those around them, whose primary defense that allows them to keep getting away with this lies in carefully cultivated aesthetic that they take great pains to keep up, to such a point that they've actually deceived the fandom itself into thinking that's who they really are? Bound To Clash. but oh could they UNDERSTAND each other.

This one takes off particularly well after Hiyoko hits her growth spurt. Losing the layer of protection that "I'm just a LITTLE GIRL and you're BULLYING ME!" provides requires Hiyoko to reasses her entire image and the vulnerabilities she is most terrified of sharing. Celestia, watching this happen from afar, could easily relate to the fear of exposure. I think the two could really bond and start to heal together. (Or at least be mean together)

Asano/Mekuru

I'm gonna be honest. I wrote a whole little summary of Killer Killer to explain why these two are actually a deeply meaningful relationship with big overarching textual implications. But then it got deleted, because Tumblr Is A Website. So I guess we'll never know. You'll just have to take my word for the Thematics. I can't right it out again. I have a wife and children (disclaimer: I do not have a wife and children)

MORE IMPORTANTLY THAN SILLY THEMATICS. These two genuinely care for each other SO MUCH. For those unfamiliar these are two detectives who work together at the Future Foundation between THH and DR3-era. They're not even partners, but they truly have each other's backs!! Asano goes running into a known high danger abandoned building just on Mekuru's word and refuses to allow her to apologize when it goes wrong! Mekuru betrays the future foundation and FULLY SQUARES UP IN FRONT OF A MOB to protect Asano! I mean my GOD.

And the other thing you have to know is that Killer Killer is VERY fast paced! These two become ride or die for each other over the course of, like...a month MAX. And that's just the gay experience! You meet a hot girl and you swear your life to her service. What's better than this

Idk if you’re still interested in rare pair requests or not, so I decided to just pull up a Random Number Generator to get the most random pairing possible and see if the absurdity alone could catch your interest.

I wound up getting Celestia X Hiyoko. (Celeyoko?)

Honestly? I'm ALWAYS down for rarepair requests, they're a fun warmup both to doodle and to drabble about, PLUS at this rate my ultimate goal is to draw every DR rarepair imaginable because it's just too damn fun with how much free real estate there is. This is, however, a tricky one considering existing dynamics and my own interpretations/feelings and personal associations (all positive!) with both Celeste and Hiyoko. Hmm.

HOWEVER... setting (most) of that aside;;

Pre-facing this all by saying Hiyoko is an adult. Don't be weird.

So-- Taking what I vaguely remember from Celeste's DRS interaction with Kotoko, she absolutely gets along more with those who are less…mature? Only in the sense of childlike wonder and feeding into your own limitless ambitions and dreamy unrealistic desires. Sharing the same mindset that life is for fun and meant to be escaped from, unable to find anything fun in the mundane adult world, retreating to your safe dollhouse and the marvel of aesthetic. Fuck it, we ball! Reject conformity and the concept of growing up, cutely regress into the comfort of your (lost?) childhood forever!

Hiyoko isn't necessarily in the same vein, I suppose, but she's still very immature and expects the world to bend to her will because her highway is all that exists--or so she tries to enforce in her mind, living in denial. I think Celeste can relate to that a LOT. I believe they're both lying to themselves on a consistent basis, putting on the craziest fronts ever. Hiyoko was unable to take care of herself because she was essentially forced to stay a kid by her family anyway, she might admire how Celeste managed to stay a kid yet remain so independent; she could be a sort of perfect idol for her. I also have a soft spot for Hiyoko being extremely impressionable and quickly molding herself into a smaller version of her favorite person, (coincidentally acting as a rebellion against her family) or anyone who's genuinely nice to her and understanding, so if she becomes a funny little goth doll after meeting Celeste... go get em, girl!

But the question of whether or not either of them would recognize all of this in each other is…unlikely, with anything deep, at least. I mean, come on. They're both dickheads lmao. But like the saying goes among us rarepair multishippers: WE CAN SURE DREAM!! Hiyoko might immediately cling to Celeste for being more interesting and doll-like than any of their boring career-devoted peers, but the moment Celeste gives any pushback and impatience for Hiyoko that might crumble completely. Ships with either of these two can be tricky regardless, they're both very hard to get along with and to break their defensive barriers, so it's a fffffine line.

Also, depending on who you ask, this is mean lesbian x mean lesbian solidarity! I think they could openly shit talk about all their friends to their faces, together, holding hands. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
