Partner has Relapsed

i don't usually use trigger warnings, but I'm going to put this under the cut. Nothing specific has been mentioned, but I know first hand this can be heavy.

When he is told that his partner has relapsed, Kaneki is heartbroken. And whilst he listens to his partner talk about it, when he's on his own later on, he gets wrapped up running over recent events, trying to spot signs that something wasn't right. He inadvertently starts distancing himself from them -temporarily- so he can make sense of it.

Uta is empathetic. He's been there. He understands. He knows he can't healthily stop his partner from doing whatever it is they're trying to recover from, but he does emphasize that they're to try and come to him first. He keeps a close eye on them.

Oh poor Hide is devastated, but does a good job at keeping it together for his partner's sake when everything is laid out. He's an optimistic sort, and reminds them that relapses are part of recovery, and it isn't failure. He's also reminding himself of this. Makes sure he's spending more time around them, almost to the point of clingyness.

The first emotion Touka feels is anger: they were doing so well, why why why did they revert back?! After she's said her bit, she gets more level-headed and tries to make sense of what happened. Like Kaneki, she ruminates over what happened, but then takes a more proactive approach and figures out ways she can help.

Depending on the context, Naki may not totally understand the complexity of the situation, but he does know that something bad has happened and that his partner is hurting. He's going to cry; for them, their pain, and possibly out of the frustration of not being able to do anything.

Like his niece, Yomo is pissed. He isn't as overt, he doesn't shout, but his normal quietness has a lot more texture to it. He's confused as to why they've seemingly gone backwards in their recovery. He's offended that they didn't approach him for help. He's furious at himself for not predicting this would happen. He's guilty because this isn't about him. He feels completely out of his depth.

When I was younger I used to think I just got bad stomach aches because of how deeply things upset me.

Now that I'm older I have my ADHD diagnosis I recognise that I tend to get bouts of anxiety and depression after I've been ill to the point where it's affected my eating.

It's interesting to learn more about the gut's role in serotonin production. I just wish it was more helpful in the middle of the night when I'm trying to stave off a full anxiety attack while randomly missing my father who died nearly 30 years ago.

As always, I'm following the 'Don't trust your feelings after 9pm' rule. I have something calming to listen to. I'm focusing on the parts on my body I can control the feelings in, I'm letting my shoulders relax into the bed. I know if I just sleep things will be better in the morning. Well, things will be the same but I will handle them better.

I know I'm not alone, I might not have anyone to reach out to right now, but I'm not alone. I'm not the first person or the last to feel like this. I know there are people dealing with a lot more with a lot less going for them. We all be better in the morning, even just for a little while. We'll be okay.

hating/criticising jiang cheng for his canonical shitty behaviour is not “bashing” like girl, he wasn’t written in a way to be likeable as a person and anyone bringing that up or expressing their dislike for him doesn’t make them an unreasonable cynic incapable of seeing his “goodness” like pls let’s have some sense here; calling jin guangshan a predatory sleazebag is not “bashing” because that’s literally his canonical reading, just the way calling jiang cheng an asshole manchild is literally his characterisation in the book. bashing is what you’d call the bad faith call-outs towards characters like wei wuxian where the hate is moreso a result of intense personal bias than actual source material backing. bashing is where you make an unnecessary mockery out of characters who don’t seem to deserve it. but rightfully disliking jiang cheng & making a post about it is not bashing and people need to stop thinking that being unsympathetic towards an antagonistic figure needs a thesis to justify the dislike, otherwise it’s illogical nonsense––because the thesis already exists and it’s called mdzs.
