ok but literally the worst thing spn did imo is the angels falling at the end of s8. I hated it so much. I hated it. I watched up to season TWELVE ONLY because I was hoping they would fix it but they didn't because the writers didn't even have a good idea for getting out of that situation so they just basically left it alone. It was horrible. Castiel you didn't deserve all of that, they used you so they could have a dramatic season finale and nothing else

Excerpt: He’d fallen asleep. 

It must have been close to a year since the last time he’d done that. He hadn’t meant to. He’d only meant to close his eyes to the glare of all that light bouncing off the snow. It didn’t hurt. Nothing ever really hurt anymore. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt pain. At least of the physical kind. He could still feel tired, though. Exertion didn’t have to slow him down, but he felt it. It was reassuring. It made him feel - human. 

Which was why he’d started pushing himself. He wanted to know his limits, but mostly, he needed to feel tired muscles from time to time, reminding him that he was not, in fact, so far removed from who he had been. That however strong he might be now, however long he could go without food or rest, his muscles could still strain, would still go rubbery and unsteady after a while. He’d never imagined he’d long to feel weak, but here he was, making his way up Denali just to feel the burn. 

He hadn’t even stopped for gear, or waited for climbing season. He’d just - made sure Baby was parked in a safe place, and started walking up the mountain. He started feeling it after a couple of hours. The change in the air made his muscles strain, but they kept responding and he kept climbing. He wasn’t tired enough yet.

It was the light that finally made him stop. He had more or less just meandered up the nearest face of the mountain, going wherever his feet could get a solid hold, and he’d found himself coming out of the shadow of the mountain to blinding light, bouncing at him from every direction. He couldn’t see where he was going. He took a few steps anyway, felt himself slide as the snow gave way under his boots, and for the first time in a long time he felt - afraid. Carefully, he crouched down, felt for some kind of solid surface, and settled onto some kind of a ledge.  

It was probably habit more than anything that caused him to fall asleep. He was tired, and the ledge was warm (or warmer than the snow, in any case), and his eyes were closed. Drifting off must have been something akin to muscle memory.

The glare of the snow was replaced by a wide strip of light bouncing off the surface of a lake. He knew this place. He’d been here before. It was... peaceful.

Crowley in season 8x07 was willing to knife fight Castiel. That was when he assumed Cas’ was too weak to use the full smite of his angel powers

I love it, because Crowley does not underestimate Cas in anyway. Crowley has always had a healthy appreciation for Cas’ abilities, so Crowley is more than aware of how BAMF Cas is at knife to knife fighting. Yet Crowley believed he had a chance, which shows that Crowley is pretty BAMF himself

I won’t lie, I think Cas would win in a “fight until one is knocked out” type situation. Cas is millions of years old and a soldier, it is highly unlikely Crowley would be better than him, and I just “yeah sure lol” whenever Dean is made to be more skilled than Cas? like what are the directors smoking? Dean is skilled but he doesn’t have millions of years of experience. Or if Cas only began fighting when humans were created, then thousands of years

But do I think Crowley could have put up a good enough fight, with his cunning, to stun Cas for just long enough to teleport away with Kevin and the tablet?

The answer is yes. It takes 7 milliseconds to snap your fingers. He needs to use cunning long enough to have that 7 milliseconds. Don’t get me wrong Cas would absolutely kick Crowley’s arse in any fight, even a non power fight where it’s just melee vs melee but I do think Crowley has enough skill to buy himself 7 milliseconds and that is an incredible feat, because Cas has way more experience even if he didn’t have powers, which he did

So why didn’t Crowley teleport with Kevin and the tablet while Cas was doing his light show? We know from 7x23 that Crowley doesn’t need to touch an item or people to teleport them

The answer I believe is this:

originally Crowley thought Cas didn’t have enough powers. The light show made him think okay maybe I was wrong. Originally he thought he just needed to stun Cas long enough to get him, the tablet and Kevin out and Cas wouldn’t be able to follow because he wasn’t in good shape

Cas was able to bluff well enough to make Crowley believe he was fine and if we remember from 5x10 Cas can follow Crowley’s teleportation energy like how he followed Crowley to his house, even though Crowley teleported before him 

So if you already know the angel can follow your teleportation signature, and you guess that they still have some power left in them to follow you, what would be the point? Fold your cards and try again. You can risk teleporting away, but if the angel follows you they might not give you an advantage of warning you with a light show next time

It's been a bit since I've been here. I go though phases on the different apps I enjoy. Lately I've been organizing my fanfic spreadsheet and have noticed a lot of deleted fics. Very sad.🥹 But as much as I will miss those fics, there are thousands more to still read! I have about 3000 fics saved so getting them all organized is taking me some time. But I have strayed from my purpose. The next fic I would like to recommend is, "Unexpected Bonds", written by NinjaSoulreaper27. I admit, I've only read a few fics written by this author. However, it is so lovely. Dean and Cas feel an instant connection and become best friends overnight.

Fic summary:

Dean has just entered his senior year and is Captain of the Varsity Football team. Him and the guys hear about two new transfer's. They're two of Michael's cousins. Castiel and Gabriel Novak. Dean isn't sure why he's drawn to the blue eyed brother but decides not to over think it too much and make friends with the intriguing guy.

Cas and his siblings have just moved to Freewill, Kansas. At first Cas thinks his senior year will be just lile every other. Almost no friends and boring outside of sports. That is until he meets Dean Winchester. Hot football player who is just Castiel's type, however the guys becomes quick friends and Cas doesn't want to lose that.

Excerpt: The door opened behind Dean, and he knew it was Castiel before he even turned his head. Well, he had been right that the warding had been angel warding if he hadn’t realised how close Cas was until he had opened the door. But then again he was still getting used to his distance perception on his soul sense. “Cas, how did you find me?” said Dean as he got up from his seat and started walking towards the angel. He’d always go towards the angel wouldn’t he? While his steps didn’t falter his brain did–was it some kind of trick? Like a moth to flame sort of spell? The thought was fleeting and thrown off, because the truth was, he wasn’t worried about an ambush, there was only the one door and the tiny basement-like windows that Sam couldn’t fit through. The demons had been there first so there could be no traps laid.   “There was chatter on angel radio about an odd soul…Lester—“ “Lester was a dick, he got what he deserved.” Castiel tilted his head, studying Dean in an achingly familiar way. Dean was sure that Castiel could see his demonic nature so he flicked his eyes so he could see the angel, and the sight broke Dean’s heart. Castiel’s wings were little more than the bare wing bones, with ragged and bloody skin stretched over them and a few sad feathers clinging desperately in places. “Oh, Cas…your wings…” Dean had seen their shadow before, when they had been huge and full-feathered, but now Castiel’s wings were sad, hurt things. “Dean, your soul…it is still so bright…but you’re a demon…how?” “The Mark, it wouldn't let me go,” answered Dean. His eyes were still demon black because he was so amazed to see Cas like that. He’d always been drawn to the angel, always felt the connection, always been attracted to the wavelength of celestial intent—but to see more of Cas than before was just indescribable, and he never wanted to look away. “Dean,” said Castiel in his commander of a garrison of angels, "give me respect” voice.
