Diantha is the result of a cryptic pregnancy.
Martha didn't even know she was pregnant until she took herself to A&E at five am for a possible burst appendix. And now Diantha exists, completely unprompted. Cassandra and Diantha were the first names that came to her mind, from a magazine she'd been reading in the waiting area.
Diantha's father wasn't in Kalos at all- and for a good few years was actively convinced Diantha wasn't his child for ... reasons. Her sister bears a closer resemblance to him; Diantha and Constantine are both black haired, fair skinned and blue eyed, where Verity is brown haired and green eyed.

FASHION CREDITS: "ARTPOP” BY INEZ & VINOODH
Lady Gaga's "ARTPOP" album promotional photoshoot was a visual feast, captured by Dutch photographers Inez & Vinoodh. Styled by Brandon Maxwell, Gaga showcased avant-garde fashion from emerging designers, embodying the album's innovative spirit.
Hair by Frederic Aspiras. Makeup by Yadim. Nails by Jin Soon Choi.
Tumblr media
Gaga had many wardrobe changes for the photoshoot and fashion film. The white paper jacket and skirt were custom-made by Mathieu Mirano.
“We ripped it and put it on backwards to give it a cooler, more modern slant. The collar is very high, giving the piece a futuristic quality. Very Gaga”, Mathieu shared with me.
Plus a little fun fact: It took HOURS to iron this piece before the shoot to make it look perfect because it is made out of paper.
The oversized white mask is from Isabell Yalda Hellysaz’ Fall/Winter 2012 collection. Hellysaz is a Swedish/Persian fashion designer graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2012. Her final major collection “Antidote” was inspired by World War II uniforms and the futuristic Space Age era.
Tumblr media
In the above shots Gaga dons textured pants and a pair of otherworldly sculpted wedges.
Her 14″ (35.56 cm) high Werk boots, fusion of bloodwood, vinyl, zippers and band saw blades, belong to “Stilett”O”” series of sky-high heel sculptures by Houston-based artisan Omar Angel Perez.
The series explores the interplay between women and their love-hate relationship with the stiletto heel: “As an expression of appreciation, I offer my gratitude to all women who endure the torture of wearing such heels. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed”. There are no shortcuts in Omar’s fine woodworking, the sinuous curves and waves found in his work are hand carved using an untouched block of wood, metal grinder and meticulous hand sanding.
Tumblr media
Both her vintage prosthetic arm prop and Technical Plastics Corp. protective shield were both sourced at Early Halloween.
Tumblr media
On the visuals above LG poses on the binary chair by artist Benjamin Rollins Caldwell while wearing custom frames by a-morir: “Two dozen lenses hand drilled and attached to a vintage measuring frame with wire”.
Tumblr media
Next, the singer is seen wearing a bouclé tweed cropped square-shoulder jacket, and white cotton poplin Oxford mini shirt dress with houndstooth skirt (different print pictured) - both from Thom Browne’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection.
Tumblr media
And I believe many of you have recognized her otherworldly pair of shoes by Peter Popps.
Titled Cube, the conceptual creation made of leather, metal and studs, is inspired by “punk & bondage in contemporary contradictions of revolution and obedience of humanity. In powerful elegance it provokes the fetish of vulnerability”.
Tumblr media
Another look from the shoot encapsulates features another striking ensemble from the aforementioned Thom Browne collection. The red & white houndstooth cube-shaped cape coat, a signature piece from the collection, became a crucial element in crafting Gaga's visually arresting persona for the shoot.
Adding an extra layer of intrigue, Gaga accessorized with antique safety goggles sourced from Early Halloween.
Tumblr media
A pair of Alaïa Fall/Winter 2012 taupe suede platform lace-up ankle boots with ankle buckle strap and lug soles provided the finishing touch.
Tumblr media
Here Gaga rocks a laminated wool knitted oversized jumper and metallic pinstripe trousers from Royal College of Art graduatee HeeWon Park.
The Wire Wig headpiece creation is a bespoke Jacob Roanhaus piece.
Tumblr media
She completed the look with Pleaser Beyond-1020 lace-up platform ankle boots.
Tumblr media
In this shot the songstress rocks a white dress with accessories from Parsons Art and Design school graduate Harin Yang.
She opted for the bejeweled sculptural white neck piece and a chain-embellished resin cuff and oversized ring.
Tumblr media
Gaga wears a pair of oversized white lightweight stainless steel cat-eye frames from MYKITA x Beth Ditto limited edition.
Beth is the result of a sketch prompted by the search for the perfect pair of sunglasses – drawn instinctively and spontaneously by Beth herself.
Tumblr media
In this particular look, Gaga dons the Viktor & Rolf Fall/Winter 2013 Mabel white calfskin leather mini dress. The dress, characterized by its flounced hem, long sleeves, and round neck, exudes a perfect balance of sophistication and edginess.
Tumblr media
Not to miss, the Pleaser Beyond-087 white vinyl criss-cross strap platform pumps.
Tumblr media
The organza and leather cap veil, harness, sculpted sleeves and paneled garter shorts, all from Louise Leconte’s collection #2 titled “Apostasy”.
She wore the Pleaser heels here as well. Her fiber optic wig is a custom Haus of Gaga “ARTPOP invention”.
Tumblr media
Above, Gaga wears a vintage unbleached linen jumpsuit from Issey Miyake’s “Plantation” line, created in the early 80s.
The comfy, triangular shaped piece features a collarless neckline, button-down front, dolman sleeves, loose, tapered pants, cuffs both at the wrists and ankles and two slit pockets. It was sourced at Resurrection Vintage.
She’s also sporting the suede platform sandals from Central Saint Martins graduate Cassandra Verity Green’s final collection. Green’s graduate collection “Neptunes Daughter” was inspired by her grandmother, a former beauty queen and style icon.
Tumblr media
In these outtakes, Gaga wears an antique strait jacket from Early Halloween and a pair of nude leather platform boots with finger/lipstick hybrid plexi heel, custom-made by Alberto Guardiani and based on his Spring/Summer 2013 collection!
Tumblr media
The yellow piece of art that Gaga is strutting, posing and moving in is a windsuit by Issey Miyake from Resurrection Vintage.
This cire suit is from Issey’s 1978 collection and consists of a voluminous bubble coat with epaulettes and two front flap pockets along with matching pants that have a paper bag waist and elasticated ankle cuffs. Gaga only went with the coat.
Tumblr media
She also switched out her eyewear twice for this look. The first pair are a black version of the Goldenheart round metal sunglasses by Coco & Breezy.
Tumblr media
The second pair of glasses are the OG yellow lucite frame prism sunglasses by h0les.
Tumblr media
Her purple, gold and silver crystal earrings are vintage House of Lavande.
Tumblr media
In this shot Gagaloo wears the bizarre cropped wool fibre jacket from London College of Fashion graduate, Rex Lo.
The crystal-embellished eye mask was custom-made by jeweller Rodrigo Otazu!
Tumblr media
Gaga rocks  a sculptural double-breasted silk jacquard cropped jacket from the aforementioned Thom Browne collection.
The black organza hat belongs to KSENIASCHNAIDER’s Spring/Summer 2013 “Camouflage” collection. KSENIASCHNAIDER is a luxury European unisex brand by Ukrainian fashion designer Ksenia Marchenko and Russian graphic designer Anton Schnaider.
Her avant-garde fox-tail embellished wonders with sculpted leaf, snake and lion heels are Chimera, Masaya Kushino created.
Tumblr media
She’s wearing her Dental Cuff bracelet from Gilding Primal Instinct’s “Hunter/Surgeon” Spring/Summer 2012 collection, made of oxidized bronze and acrylic.
The NYC-based jewelry brand lives in a macabre surrealist dreamscape nestled between the worlds of fashion and fine art, challenging its wearers to step outside themselves and embrace our fundamental nature as a species.
Gilding Primal Instinct collections are based on highly conceptual couture one-of-a-kinds and the ready to wear items they inspire. Each collection examines different visceral human behaviors that remain constant and translates them into iconic archetypes that inspire a sense of sublime horror.
Tumblr media
The above mentioned boots make a re-appearance, this time paired with a Felder Felder Fall/Winter 2013 “Velvet Outlaw” collection grey mongolian shearling coat, I wouldn’t mind owning myself!
Tumblr media
Finally, Gaga wears a full look from Comme des Garçons‘ Fall/Winter 2013 “The infinity of tailoring” collection. The look comprises a Prince of Wales pattern button-up shirt, knee-length wrap skirt and a structured jacket with several oversized sleeves.
Tumblr media
Her black acetate visual acuity hinged square frames are vintage from Early Halloween.

What your teenager is reading online - and other items popular with our younger readers in 2020
by Ann Riordan
Tumblr media
You don't need librarians to tell you that 2020 has been a very unusual year. Libraries were closed for ten weeks, and like everyone else we tried to make sense, adapt, and prepare for an unknown future. For the ten weeks we were closed, we doubled our efforts in providing e-books and e-audiobooks so our loyal readers would have something to bridge the gap. We missed our readers, and the feedback was that our readers couldn't wait for us to re-open.
Usually in September with Children's Book Festival around the corner, and with the renewed enthusiasm for reading that comes with the new school year, we eagerly prepare a list of the most borrowed children's and teen items. As you might guess, the most borrowed child item in 2020 so far is not a paper book, but an e-audiobook.  Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was borrowed 342 times in e-audiobook form, and 95 times in e-book form. There were no surprises in the rest of the lists of items borrowed by children - physical books and e-books alike. David Walliams, Liz Pichon, Jeff Kinney, Dav Pilkey and Jacqueline Wilson are still the most popular authors among our young library readers.
Tumblr media
Young adults and teen readers often get bad press for spending too much time on screens and devices. I argue a reprieve for e-books and e-audiobooks! During lockdown, we saw an increase in use of our e-books and e-audiobooks services by our young adult members. There were many days where every single e-book and e-audiobook in our collection was out on loan.
Tumblr media
Fantasy and magic themes dominate the young adult top 10. Stepsister, a dark retelling of Cinderella by Jennifer Donnelly is the most borrowed young adult e-book so far in 2020. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black is the second most borrowed young adult e-book, and it also takes the number one spot for most borrowed young adult e-audiobooks. Holly Black appears twice in the top 10 of both e-books and e-audiobook loans with titles from her Folk of the Air series. Holly Black is also well known as the author of the Spiderwick Chronicles. Wicked like a Wildfire, number 8 in the young adults e-books list, by Lana Popović is a fantasy novel about twins with a magical gift.
Tumblr media
World social events, and the Black Lives Matter movement has also affected what our young people are reading. Number four on the most popular e-books read by teenagers is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. First published in 2017, this novel deals with police racism in the USA. The narrator, Starr, witnesses her childhood friend shot and killed by a white police officer, and is compelled outside her wealth bubble to take a stand against injustice.
Tumblr media
So the next time your teenager is glued to their device, think twice before intervening - they might be reading!
Interestingly, in my research, I did find one surprise. Bearing in mind that sometimes parents borrow items for their children on their own card, I looked at children's items borrowed by readers of all ages - and Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren was borrowed 61 times by adults so far in 2020! Is this the nostalgia effect caused by lockdown? More likely it is because 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the first publication of Pippi Longstocking, back in 1945. Happy birthday Pippi!
Tumblr media
Children’s Book Festival 2020 takes place online this year. Visit our website from 1 October 2020 for details of online events. Remember membership of the library is free, and all readers can take up to 12 books, plus 5 e-books and 5 e-audiobooks with a library membership. Visit our website and our BorrowBox page for more information. Happy Reading!

Here’s the problem I’m having with playing a Sims 2 Megahood. Every time I play, I think “oh, this is an interesting story I should share,” but every time I play, I’m just in it for playing and never think to take pictures or do a full write-up afterwards. I want to change that.
I am, somehow, playing a perfectly functional game on Windows 10. Don’t ask me how. I had it installed for a few months last year before it suddenly broke after my software insisted on updating, couldn’t get it working again no matter how hard I tried, had the urge in January and it installed with no problems. Shrug. I… may have switched to using the UC version over the G4W version? And then used the G4W installers to cram in the missing expansion packs? Anyway, my whole intent was to set up different downloads folders so as to lessen my ungodly loading time and make Flavor Games capable of using Defaults and such. I… am not particularly far into this project, but my Modern Downloads folder is looking pretty clean. Might swap it out for Medieval one of these days and try to play MCC again, but not today.
I have a whole host of MATY mods, ACR and Inteen (partially because I collected the mods when all my downloads were in one folder and I was playing historic hoods, and partly because it just bugs me when teens can woohoo without any possible consequences. I don’t usually go for it, but it makes for fun drama if it happens), and recently installed Hat’s Proportional Aging Mod, which I’m still getting used to. I didn’t like that sims would stay in college for WAY TOO LONG and also didn’t like playing 24-hour semesters, but boy howdy is there an adjustment period for this aging mod. I’m just hoping to avoid a Young Adult Desert as the last of the sims who were already teens when the hood began has departed for college, and it will be Entire Rounds before the next batch of teens is ready. I usually have teens leave for college at any point when they are at 5 days or less to Adult, but might bend that rule in a couple rounds to prevent the colleges from going empty.
I’m also trying to use LTW-focused gameplay, as opposed to ignoring the LTWs that don’t fit how I usually play, such as the Business ones and the Pet ones, but at the same time I’m setting up a pyramid-style Career Slots scheme whereby each career level has a limited number of jobs available (10 at level 1, 9 at level 2, etc), to try and encourage diversified gameplay. I’ll use the job stoppinator when a sim cannot advance, and sims in a level with no open slots are required to use chance cards (which I often ignore in regular gameplay). I also have some standard rules for rolling a sim’s Aspiration, turn-ons, and orientation when they become Teens (the orientation is newer, and i don’t have many queer sims yet but I am hopeful), and a little program where broke college graduates can be ‘hired’ by households that are soon to lose their last guardian to housesit and watch the kids until the household family ages to teen or moves back from college; they’re paid in room and board, and a fair share of the household funds when they leave.
I’m using Google Sheets to have a massive spreadsheet for a census and record as I play, as well as record family trees (I figured out a way to simply write in family trees, so excited), and figure out potential pairings based on attraction.
I have a play order that spaces out the Main Three Hoods so I won’t hit a rough patch of too much Unfavorite Hoods or too much College to play before getting back to the good stuff. Currently, I’m in Belladonna Cove at the opening of a new round, and a lot has already happened in the four or five rounds I’ve played so far.
In Belladonna Cove, the Goodies befriended Bella Goth--the poor thing, stumbling around with no memory of her former life, clearly she needed friends! ...when in fact although she did lose her memory in the traumatic event that also resulted in a clone, she’s dimly aware that she has a family (ie she’s on the family tree), and she’s much happier just seducing sims and living her best life. She’s debating whether she’s interested in staying in Belladonna Cove, or would prefer to move Downtown, while Herbert and Faith have just been going hiking and entering cooking contests with their spare time.
Gavin and Ginger Newson managed to care for their siblings until they were ready to go to college. Gabriella and Gallagher are teens now, taking care of Georgia and Garrett, but are concerned they’re going to miss their chance for college before the kids grow up. They might end up hiring a broke college graduate.
Carlos Contender didn’t marry Chastity Gere, but she moved in with him and had twins Patience and Verity (girl and boy) with him before she unexpectedly died of disease. Carlos isn’t too far off from Death’s Door himself, and is looking into hiring some kind of caregiver, or possibly asking his family to take in his kids.
The Patels moved to a modest house and currently have three kids, Jaya, Kavita, and Umar. Jaya just grew up to be a child.
The Clevelands had two more children--a daughter, Melissa, and the result of an abduction, Sylvia--and moved Downtown; Justin’s currently attending Sim State University.
Kimberly Cordial successfully married Armand De Bateau, and moved with him and Tara out of the penthouse to a mansion nearby in the wealthy district--one that needed plenty of remodeling, by the way. Giant awkwardly shaped empty rooms do not a mansion make. Tara has departed for college (SSU, at the moment teens attend the next college that will be played in the order), and Kimberly gave birth to a daughter, Libby. Meanwhile, Samantha Cordial had unexpected chemistry with Luis Aspir, and got married to him. They live together in the Cordial family home, working on renovations, and have a daughter together, Sabrina.
Jessica Peterson had a fair amount of options to consider, but ultimately she moved in with Jason Larson in Bluewater Village, choosing a husband who shared her goals. They have one son so far, Stanley Peterson, and future children will have the Larson name.
Gabriel Green has been quietly working on his career as he waits for his girlfriend Jane Stacks to graduate college; she’s just about to move in. I hope to find a way to remodel Gabriel’s cool industrial building to retain the style but become a little more livable for a family, or else I might move them.
The Gavigans are struggling in a house that’s a little bit too small for them--they were unable to find anything larger in their budget, and BDC is short on homes that are appropriately sized for families anyway. It certainly doesn’t help that they’ve had three more kids--daughter Ruth, and twins James and Judith--and they’re working very hard at earning enough money to slowly remodel their home so they have enough space.
Vivian Cho and Timothy Riley fell in love and got married, as they are wont to do, and have moved to a remodelled Nightlife house that now has an attached garage (I love remodelling that unit!). Sally’s a teen, Etsu’s a child, and they have a toddler son together, Yeong Cho. Timothy’s fast making his way up the Medicine ladder and may become the first chief of staff in the tri-city area (...oct-city? How many hoods are there??)
The Baldwins moved Downtown, and had a third child, Rosa. Not a lot else going on with them, although they might take in Isabel’s uncle’s kids.
Geoff Rutherford has mostly been working on his career and the notches in his bedpost, but he is considering choosing one lady to carry on his family name. This is most likely going to be Nina Caliente, but could also be Bella Goth or DJ Verse. Meanwhile, his housemate Connor Weir has done a little pining over fairly-happily-married Cassandra Goth Lothario (...nope, not weird at all, moving along), but is currently happily involved with Blossom Moonbeam and waiting for her to graduate college. (...this is happening a lot).
Next in the roster is Downtown, which I’ve already described via the few families that have moved there. I’m hoping to make Downtown and BDC the only hoods with apartments, and populate them heavily when sims finally start graduating en masse. And after that comes Desiderata Valley, the bane of my Megahood, full of boring gimmicky families and ugly, ugly houses. I’m working very hard to change that, but we’ll see when I write up the next round.
Part of me wants to either wait until I take pictures to go with this, or come back and add pictures later, but see, that’s the kind of thinking that leads to me never sharing anything. I’ll share it now, dammit, and continue to share updates as I play through each round.

OC Questionaire
Tagged by @puppypopcornpizza Thank you, dear!
1. Pick an original character!
2. Fill in the questions/statements as if you were being interviewed for an article and you were the character/muse
3. Tag people to do the same: @ellenembee, @ekoorb03, @element-104, @thewindysideofcare
Maybe this will inspire me to write some more. >.< Verita Lavellan, after Trespasser! I know this is a long post, so after the cut.
1. What is your name? Verita Lavellan
2. No seriously what is your real name I-- it’s Verita. Lavellan.
3. Do you know why you were called that? I was born on the side of the road to Markham. It was a near thing. A human helped my mother deliver me, a midwife called Verity. My parents wanted to honor that and so Verita.
4. Are you single or taken? Taken.
5. Do you have any abilities or powers? Do you not notice the staff? I’m a mage. I can call on the elements and heal a bit as well. Before my arm was taken I could close rifts to the fade.
6. Stop being a gary stu. I’m not sure what that is -- what do you mean?
7. What is your eye color? Green.
8. How about your hair color? Brown -- are you seeing all right?
9. Have you any family members? Of course. My mother and father are still part of my clan, along with my sister Corweth.
10. I see… what about pets? None, though I do watch after Cullen’s mabari while he and Lysette are away. *laughs* Michel still can’t get past the drool.
11. Tell me about something you don’t like. War -- if there was simply never another war in my lifetime I’d pass away a happy woman.
12.  Do you have any hobbies/activities you like doing? I love to bake! I’d never made a cake before the Inquisition and now the templars are well fed on sweets.
13. Ever hurt anyone before? You should know the answer to this. Honestly, don’t make me recount it. Please.
14. Ever…killed anyone before? *ignores the question*
15. what kind of animal are you? This isn’t an awful joke is it? I have heard a few too many rabbit punchlines...
16. Name one of your worst habits. *smiles* I’ve been said to be rather slow at making up my mind.
17. Do you look up to anyone at all? So many people! My parents of course, Keeper Deshanna, Leliana has become divine and is making so many changes that seem to be helping other mages. Cullen and his determination to change, Dorian for being himself, Varric is a Viscount now! And Cassandra too of course. I quite like these types of questions!
18. Sexual orientation? I’m interested in men.
19. Do you go to school? Not as you would call it -- Dalish remember? I know it’s hard without the tattoos...
20. Do you ever want to marry and have kids one day? I would like that a great deal.
21. What are you most afraid of? I don’t really know. It seems I’ve come across the worst there is to offer in men and beasts alike. I would have said the unknown years ago before leaving my clan, but now I’m not really afraid of it, having come out the other side mostly well.
22. What do you usually wear? What I’m wearing now. Most days I’m helping others heal, and it doesn’t make much sense to wear anything fancy.
23. Do you love someone? I love many people. I’ve been fortunate enough to find myself surrounded by people I care for, and that care for me.
24. What class are you? (high/middle/low) That seems hardly a fair question to ask someone? It isn’t for me to say, though I do try to take the highroad.
25. How many friends do you have? Many now. Friends are as valuable as family.
26. Thoughts on pie? I prefer cakes! But I have made plenty of pies too. Something about the fluffiness of cakes wins me over.
27. Favorite drink? There was this wonderful bubbly, light wine in Orlais from a region in the northeast -- I always forget the name! I’ll have to ask Michel.
28. What’s your favorite place? I still miss Skyhold, and the comfort of my clan. Right now I’m quite happy here.
29. Would you rather swim in the lake or the ocean? A lake, though I’ve swam in both. 30. Are you interested in anyone? I’m with Michel.
31. What’s your dick size? That’s a highly unusual question for a woman. Do you always ask such things?
32. Well, what’s your type? Type of what?
33. And what attracts you? Oh, that sort of type. I like people who try, who are kind, and who listen when others speak. I don’t put a lot of stock in appearances, but if pressed I would have to admit Michel is rather handsome.
34. Any fetishes? If I did you would not be the first I would tell.
35. Seme or uke? Top or bottom? Dominant or submissive? I don’t know what some of those even are -- do you have any more questions for me or shall I be on my way? I’m very busy today. 36. Camping indoors or outdoors? You must be joking. 37. Are you wanting the quiz to end? Yes, but it was.. interesting meeting you.
