I just read a story with that thing like "choose which of your loved ones dies" and he chose but then the good guys came in time to save them, and it was all sad and everything but with a happy ending, kind of.

Anyway, that, with lots of whump, but then make it fluffy. Like, twenty minutes of panic and fear and anger and someone yelling "choose or I'll choose for you" and like, lots of details about like the gun and stuff, just, heavy whump, yes? And then break the tension like it's caramel on a creme brulée, yeah? Like the guy just turns and goes "yeah, I'm not doing it, who wants a burger?" you know?
