Day 21 - The tiara you most want to see Princess Charlotte wear
The Cartier hello tiara
Cartier Halo tiara is made up of 739-brilliant cut diamond and 149 baguette diamonds, and was lent to Catherine for her wedding day by the Queen.
The Cartier Halo tiara’s beginnings go back to 1936 when George VI commissioned Cartier to create something spectacular with the diamonds and platinum he had purchased for his wife three weeks before he became King George VI and she became Queen Elizabeth (the future Queen Mother)

Royal Tiaras Highlights: The Cartier Halo Tiara
The tiara was made by Cartier in 1936, as an anniversary gift from King George VI (then Duke of York) to his wife, Elizabeth (the Queen Mother). In 1944, Queen Elizabeth gave the tiara to her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, as an eighteenth birthday gift. She never wore the tiara in public; frequently loaning it instead to her younger sister, Princess Margaret. The next borrower of the tiara was the queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, who wore the tiara frequently before her marriage. But then the tiara went into the vault, unseen for years until Kate Middleton arrived at Westminster Abbey for her royal wedding in 2011.

Fantasy Guide to Royal and Noble Jewellery
Tumblr media
Royal and Noble jewellery is a staple of their life, a statement of the who is person is, their rank and their wealth. Jewellery simply isn't a accessory, it's an exercise in showmanship and a way to link to a past.
(Disclaimer: Many stones in pieces often have a bloody past, usually stolen or worked from the earth under the reign of Colonialism. It is best to always take this into account when admiring real world pieces)
Providence
Tumblr media
Jewellery like this is usually inherited buy can also be bought or even given as a gift. There is three kinds of jewellery in this instance: private, owned by the crown or owned by the state.
Private jewellery is owned by a single person and worn or lent at their own descretion. Private jewellery can be no less grand than state owned jewellery. This jewellery can be inherited by anybody the owner chooses.
State jewellery is not privately owned, it belongs to the country itself. It is not inherited but used by royal family. If a royal family is deposed, the jewellery remains with the state. Such as the French Crown Jewels.
Owned by the Crown means that it can only pass monarch to monarch, worn only by consorts or the monarch and lent to anybody they choose.
Noble jewellery is not quite the same. Much of it is owned privately but there may be one or two pieces designated as official jewellery for the title such as a specific tiara.
The Rules
Tumblr media
Jewellery like this are not just trinkets to be borrowed by anybody. Usually the monarch (or titled noble) or sometimes the spouse, is in charge of designating who can be lent which pieces and for what occasion. Even if you are a super close member of the family, you still have to take what's on offer. Sometimes certain jewellery is worn exclusively by a certain rank say the Queen or the noble themselves and would not be offered to anybody else. For example, you will note that into today's royalty you will see certain royals repeating the same tiaras such as Kate Middleton who has only worn the Cambridge Lover's Knot, the Strathmore Rose Tiara, the Lotus Tiara and once, the Cartier Halo Tiara. These would be the tiaras available to them, which usually number only a handful. Certain pieces are designated by for the monarch/Consort as well, the Vladimir Tiara & the Girls of Britain and Ireland Tiara only graced the head of the Queen in her reign. Other pieces such as earrings or bracelets would also be distributed accordingly, more elaborate and expensive pieces would be worn by the higher ranking members. Certain collections are meant to be passed on, such as the Consort's jewels but many Dowager refused to pass on their jewels such as Empress Dowager Maria Feodorovna after the death of Tsar Alexander III.
Treasure Trove
Tumblr media
Now, just because a family has a throne or a grand title doesn't mean they have caches of jewels. Many noble families sold off their pieces to pay death duties, most only have a few pieces left today. As for tiaras most noble families would not have access to large quantities, usually only affording one or two. The Spencers for example own two, the Spencer Tiara and the Spencer Honeysuckle Tiara. This is an inaccurate protrayal in Downton Abbey, as the family have at least 6 but then again Cora is a Dollar Princess so it could be possible to own as many but it never made sense considering just how many times they almost loose the estate and never sell any off. Royal families are not exempt from this either, some families have vast stores of jewels such as the British Royal Family (I wonder where those all came from...) while the Greek Monarchy (discontinued) has only a few pieces. The Romanov collection is of course legendary and we may never know it's full extent.

Han and Leia's Wedding
My Headcanons x Hungarian Wedding Traditions
Tumblr media
Han/Leia Appreciation Week 2024
Day One: Tradition / Ceremony
For @hanleiacelebration
Since I'm a big fan of weddings, of course I spent a lot of time thinking about what would Han and Leia's wedding be like.
As a passionate royal watcher and a big lover of Hungarian traditions, I just had to mash up aspects of these. This also means that I was able to combine today's two promts.
That tiara is the Cartier Halo Tiara, my absolute favourite. I just love to imagine that Han gets made a replica of Leia's birthday tiara given by her parents after hearing the tradition that Alderaanian royal brides wore a tiara from their family.
And yes, I'm a basic girlie, and my favourite wedding dress is Carherine Middleton's, but hey, own it! I feel like it's regal enough for the last Princess of Alderaan at her wedding that is the first big celebration of the new, free galaxy, bit still laidback enough for a sadly no longer big royal wedding and a bride who wants a more simple, personal occasion.
The bread tearing! My favourite Hungarian wedding tradition is where the couple grabs the two ends of a circle shaped 'kalács' and tears it to see who will be the 'boss' in the marriage. Of course for Han and Leia the two pieces are the exact same size!
A Hungarian wedding is a huge party until dawn, and to signal at midnight that the day of the wedding passed, and the groom and bride is now the 'new husband and wife', they change into red clothes. They are also for sale now, at least a dance with them, time to get back the price of the wedding😉 (And if you find the picture familiar, it's from Palvin Barbi and Dylan Sprouse's very fun and very Hungarian wedding!)
The bride sometimes gets 'kidnapped', usually by the men in her family, and the groom has to find and 'free' her with cute, silly tasks. I imagine this to be a Corellian tradition, which is told by Wedge to Leia, who finds it hilarious, but Han firmly states that they won't do that, but the Rogues do it anyway lol. Leia has a fun time, especially when Han completes the task in a very romantic manner. Bonus, the picture I chose for this is also good for simply aesthetic purposes.
I hope you enjoyed this silly little moodboard with my commentary! 😊

The Halo Tiara
Tumblr media
The Halo Tiara was made by Cartier in 1936 and purchased for £1,400 by King George VI as a gift for his wife Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. It is formed as a band of 16 graduated scrolls, set with 739 brilliants and 149 baton diamonds, each scroll divided by a graduated brilliant and with a large brilliant at the centre.
In 1944, it was given to Queen Elizabeth Il as an 18th birthday present. Queen Elizabeth II never wore this tiara publicly but frequently lent it to her sister Princess Margaret and later her daughter Princess Anne.
In 2011, the tiara was loaned to the new Duchess of Cambridge for her wedding. It has not been worn publicly since.

Last night, for me, confirmed my long believed theory of what three tiaras Kate got offered for her wedding: the cartier halo, the lotus, and the strathmore rose.
In my opinion, the three best "starter" tiaras the brf has.

How may tiaras does Anne own
These are the tiaras that she has worn in the past
(Descriptions from The Court Jeweller)
What I think are in her personal collection;
✨ Festoon tiara
This delicate diamond festoon tiara was given to Princess Anne in 1973 when she christened a ship. (Not a bad thank-you present!) It’s intricate and pretty, which made it a perfect wedding tiara for Anne’s daughter-in-law in 2008. Anne still wears it regularly, including an appearance at a Guildhall banquet during the Spanish state visit in July 2017.
Tumblr media
✨ Princess Andrew’s Meander Tiara
Princess Anne has been wearing this diamond bandeau, featuring laurel wreaths, anthemions, and a Greek Key (or meander) pattern, since she was a young woman. The tiara originally belonged to her grandmother, Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark, who had given it to Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding present. The Queen loaned it to Princess Anne for some of her early tiara appearances (including a state visit to Austria in May 1969) before giving her the tiara in 1972. Anne still wears it regularly today, and she also loaned it to her daughter, Zara, as a bridal tiara in 2011.
Tumblr media
✨ Aquamarine Pineflower tiara
This Cartier diamond and aquamarine tiara, which has a unique pinecone design theme, was a wedding anniversary gift from King George VI to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in the 1940s. In November 1973, the Queen Mother offered it to Princess Anne as a wedding present. She’s been wearing it ever since (including at a state banquet in June 2019), and has even made a few design tweaks along the way.
Tumblr media
In the family vault;
✨ Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara
In November 1973, Princess Anne borrowed Queen Mary’s diamond fringe tiara from her grandmother, the Queen Mother, for her wedding to Mark Phillips. Anne was the second royal bride to wear the tiara after her mother, Queen Elizabeth II (who now owns it). Most recently, it was worn by another family bride: Princess Beatrice of York.
Tumblr media
✨ Double Row Meander Tiara
This diamond kokoshnik tiara, made of two rows of Greek Key (or meander) patterns, is a little bit of a mystery. Made in the nineteenth-century, it originally also accommodated an aigrette plume. It belonged to the Queen Mother, but we’ve only seen it worn once by a royal woman: Princess Anne’s outing in the tiara for a state banquet at Buckingham Palace during the Chinese state visit in November 2005.
Tumblr media
✨ Cartier Halo Tiara
Like two other members of the royal family — Princess Margaret and the Duchess of Cambridge — Princess Anne’s very first tiara was the delicate scrolling halo tiara made by Cartier for the Queen Mother. The piece was loaned to Anne by her mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and she wore it often in her teen years for events like the State Opening of Parliament (October 1967)
Tumblr media
✨ Birthday Portrait Tiara
For her twenty-first birthday, Princess Anne sat for a series of official commemorative portraits. She wore an ice green gown with a diamond scroll tiara and posed in front of a background specially painted by Gordon Davies for the portrait session. The tiara has never been seen on a royal woman before or since, so there’s a general consensus that it was probably a loan. (Why would the Brits borrow a tiara? Hard to know. Perhaps they wanted a specific look?) The images were published in British newspapers in August 1971.
Tumblr media
✨ Pearl Bandeau
Princess Anne has also worn one more mystery tiara in recent memory: a gold-hued bandeau, which appears to be set with large pearls. She donned the tiara for a state banquet at Windsor Castle during the Indian state visit in October 2009. We still don’t know anything more about it, including its provenance, and we haven’t seen it in public since.
Tumblr media
I would love to see her wear the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara (although she probably won’t now that Cam has 🥲), there is also an absolutely gorgeous tiara called the Teck Tiara that has crescent moons, roses and leaves (I don’t even know if it’s still in the main family anymore) 😍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please drop your favourite tiaras that you’d love to see Anne wear in the comments 😍

Note
She’ll never get another tiara moment. The only Royals who have tiara moments are full time working royals who have tiaras on lifetime loan and they have a select few because it must be expensive to fit tiaras to different heads - Catherine has Lovers Knot, Lotus Flower, Cartier Halo and Strathmore over 13 years of marriage and service. Beatrice only got to wear a second tiara for the Jordan arranged wedding as it was white tie and it was her mother’s tiara, otherwise she would have only had the one tiara moment on her wedding day. I honestly don’t see Charles forking out for a new tiara or parure for Meghan when he’s not done it for either wife or Catherine, and I don’t see him risking any tiaras from the vault as she apparently has sticky fingers and tried to steal jewelry before.
I don't think she will either, unless they are able to talk their way back in and invited to the December dignitary reception.
Which I highly doubt will ever happen.
I think this is why she pushed so hard to be able to wear a tiara on the AUS Tour at the State dinner in Tonga. She didn't plan on sticking around in the BRF for very long so she needed to get the second tiara appearance in ASAP.

THE LARA-LEIGH HALO TIARA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Royal House of Windsor: A Royal Tiara Collection
THE LARA-LEIGH CARTIER HALO TIARA
The Lara-Leigh Halo Tiara, which features large scroll elements arranged across a geometric band of diamonds (which is why it’s sometimes called the “Scroll Tiara”), was made by Cartier in the summer of 1886, it was purchased by King Edward I (then still Duke of Kent) for his young wife, Lara-Leigh (who we all know better as the Queen Lara-Leigh).
The young couple is pictured above at a charity ball at Claridge’s in Easton to benefit the South Easton Hospital for Women. It was their first gala outing since the official ending of the lengthy court mourning period for the late King Albert II, and two years before Edwards older brother abdicated.
In the end, though, it never became one of her most frequently worn tiaras.
Tumblr media
Queen Lara-Leigh gave the Halo Tiara to her daughter, Amelia, Princess Royal, as an 18th birthday gift. Most of the bejeweled gifts that the young Princess received were hand-me-down pieces. Shortly before the birthday celebrations, Queen Lara-Leigh wrote in her diary noting, “I am giving Amelia a small diamond tiara of my own for her 18th birthday, & Eddie [Edward I] is giving her a little bracelet to wear now."
The Princess Royal never wore her birthday tiara in public. Instead, Her Royal Highnesses first appearance in the piece was for her 40th birthday portraits. Upon her death, the tiara was left to the jewels of the crown and is now owned by Queen Katherine I.

Royal Tiara Challenge 2024: Tiara you most want to see Princess Charlotte wear
Tumblr media
Queen Mary’s Lozenge Tiara
For the Brits, the usual starter tiara is the Cartier Halo which isn’t my favourite British tiara therefore if Princess Charlotte could get this one out of the vault, that would be great! Another tiara that was bought by Queen Mary, this tiara was loaned to Princess Margaret for her first official visit abroad. It can also be topped with pearls and was last worn by Princess Margaret in 1965.
Honourable mention: Sapphire Sunburst Bandeau Tiara
