hope everyone had alright holidays!
a few days ago when we were driving home in the dark in windy and rainy weather after getting two of my siblings from the train we, for the first time in my lifetime im pretty sure, hit a deer that was crossing the street, none of us saw them before they got caught in the headlights and the first one made it over but we werent yet slow enough to not hit the second one ...
the deer lived but was kinda stunned, my dad pushed it off the street and while we were still on the phone with police it got up and ran away but my parents car got damaged and while its still drivable there are several parts that got bent and since its an older model too it might be hard to get it repaired
anyway, i didnt know deer fur was that grey until i saw it stuck to our bumper :(

#ganondoodles talks#random#personal#we are all fine and i wasnt the one driving#i just feel extra bad bc i was there in the front to help watch out for exactly stuff like that#but it was a weird spot and strange in that weather for them to cross#the police told us there was another accident with deer literally 10 minutes before us in the same area#so maybe thats why it was only two .........#i hope the deer is fine tho im pretty sure it at least has a broken leg#also i hope insurance covers the cost and it wont take too long#im very glad we were slow enough to not kill the deer and also not hurt it bloody bc i am still thinking about how it tumbled across#i am salty about how many people were speeding past us tho#car on the side with warning lights on and all doors open two people in car and two outside putting warning thingies up#if my dad hadnt pushed the stunned deer off the street when no one was coming it would have ended way worse for everyone involved

Applying for a loan to buy a car, hopefully it's fine. I should be able to Qualify rather easily for a 19,000 dollar loan. And I can swing 500 dollar per month payment MAX but if I've calculated it correctly the monthly payment should be 350, then plus insurance at like 150, I should be good! As I earn like 3000 a month.
The car is a 2015 Bright Yellow Jeep Wrangler that my mom's friend is selling! I hope I can get it :)
#I'm paying off my student loans though they're currently in deferment#So that's like 140 a month#+ the 500 (or more I'm flexi the max I can pay a month for car + insurance is 600)#plus the 107 a month for my phone#so 747 a month (847 if it ends up being 600)#I don't pay rent for now luckily but my max rent I'm willing to pay is 1600#with that the monthly cost is 2347#that leaves 653 for everything else#if I don't include paying max rent then it's 2253 left#Pretty good I think!#If I eschew paying my student loans until the grace period ends thats 2393#additionally I've calculated all this with the MAX payments and rounding up so it will likely be less#:)#I am a bit worried about it as I am a freelancer but it should be fine

becoming largely chill about most things. but i give myself permission to be mad about car infrastructure, car dependence, and cars flagrantly ignoring pedestrian right-of-way and generally endangering beings of flesh. because this is one of the few truly moral axis of this world
#also like increasingly cars piss me off in the abstract too as like#ok like in the united states unless you live in a couple large cities and a handful of specific smaller cities#and like maybe some small towns that built up a decent city center by say 1900 and avoided being disemboweled by the interstates#u need a car to work to get health care to get food but like we all know this#BUT#we all also know this. but it is like one of many traps to bind u to the capitalist economy inextricably#you must cough up gasoline prices and insurance costs and maintenance#and if ur the most likely to be burdened by these costs it probably also means you're making car payments too in a form of debt peonage#like once i thought about owner-operator trucks and how you pay to own the vehicle to work to pay off the vehicle#before realizing that this is just american car ownership for a large number of people in its most brazen and naked form#like we're all (ok not me because i dont have a car) owner operators who own a car to work to earn money to pay off the car#samsara. all is samsara#the wheel spins and spins and spins the wheel goes around
