I believe "pourpoint" in French is "doublet" in English, correct? I love the fact that they're both wearing them, even if they're outdated fashions. It rlly links both the boys in a material sense (keeping up w society, or not) as well as a metaphorical one (wearing poetic symbols for the heart!!) 🥺 Out of curiosity, would u happen to know what was the fashion in Cyrano's time for men, after the doublet became passé?

Also can I just say, whether intentionally or not, this exchange is rlly a testament to both Cyrano's skill in speaking love & Christian's utter ignorance of it 😅 Like......... If this ridiculously talented man whose reputation precedes him by a quarter of an hour wherever he goes met me for the first time, asked for an embrace before saying anything else, called me good-looking twice in the space of 5 minutes, & rhapsodised with fiery brilliant eyes using such phrases as "breathing my soul into your heart" & "my words upon your lips"...I would have been like "who's Roxane?" before the scene was out 👍 Totally Normal Behaviour indeed!
