Countdown Day 12: "The Heart of a Divided World"

"Et je dirais même souvent, Si quelque part tu m’attends."

In these lines from "Priscilla," there is a quiet longing, a hope that the connection we have lost might still be waiting, unbroken, somewhere in the distance. As I read the news today, I am struck by the same feeling, a yearning for connection, a call for peace echoing from the heart of two nations, Gaza and Lebanon, engulfed in crisis.

Saudi Arabia’s recent call for ceasefires speaks to a universal truth: war does not simply end when the guns go silent; it leaves scars and divisions that take generations to heal. Israel’s military actions, the airstrikes in Gaza and Lebanon, and the profound human cost highlight a painful reality. Nations are divided by history, policies, and loss.

The humanitarian crisis unfolding before our eyes reminds us how vulnerable we are when empathy is lost in politics and power. As a writer and human being, I cannot simply look away. What is the purpose of the United Nations when 193 countries are part of it but cannot stop Israel, one nation, from treating Palestine as Hitler treated them? “Death, genocide, and displacement,” I wonder: How many understand? Do you feel the weight of their suffering and pain, or do we skim past, numb to the suffering of others?

In Philoetry, my art has always sought to bridge the gap between the heart and the mind, to connect people through stories that dig into the truths that bind us. Today, those truths are clear: without compassion and without dialogue, we are left only with silence and shattered lives. These conflicts are not just political; they are human. Each life lost, each home destroyed, echoes with the same plea: Will we remember our shared humanity? Are we not fighting hard enough for peace?

As we move closer to "Priscilla," let us reflect on what it means to wait, not just for love but for understanding, for the courage to bridge divides. Today, I use this platform not only for art but for a call to peace, to remember that beyond every border, we share the same Earth, the same hopes, and the same right to live free of fear.
