Keeping Warm Against the Cold
Two newlyweds, a snowy day, a pile of Gallaghers, and lots of memories. for the wonderful @callivich! This is kind of a sequel to my fic, New Traditions, but you don't have to have read that to read this one. post-s10. Warning for some slight homophobic language between queer characters, but it's meant to be in good humor. (on ao3)
Mickey knocked the snow from his boots as he made his way up the front steps of the house. He exhaled deeply, his breath hanging visible in the air from the cold. Snow fell silently all around in the slow sunset, an almost eerie feeling with the streets so uncharacteristically silent. The lights from inside the house looked warm and inviting, though, and Mickey hurried through the front door.
A blast of warm air hit him in the face—thank fuck, too, since it meant someone managed to get the electric bill paid on time—and he kicked his boots off in the entryway. The lights from the tree twinkled brightly as Mickey entered the living room, and he could see the presents under the tree were all wrapped a little haphazardly. Debbie and Sandy were lying on the couch on top of one another as Mickey shrugged off his coat, and Franny played with her toys on the floor close by.
“Can’t you lesbos take it somewhere else?” Mickey said without any heat to his voice. “There’s fuckin’ kids here.” Debbie raised an eyebrow at him, but he just grinned back. She rolled her eyes, and then made a big show of leaning down and planting a huge smack of a kiss on Sandy’s lips, while his cousin grabbed at Debbie’s ass over her jeans.
“Sorry, Mick, it’s dyke central in here,” Sandy told him. “Better luck next time.”
“Plus, you and Ian still haven’t apologized for fucking on the couch last month,” said Debbie. “The brand new couch. You have a room, you know. My eyes still can’t unsee it.”
Mickey shrugged. It wasn’t his fault they’d gotten a little frisky while having the house to themselves for once. How were they supposed to know Debbie would get home from work early that day?
“Sorry, little red. Guess the shine ain’t worn off just yet.” He held up his left hand, waggling his ring finger to show off the silver wedding band.
“Gross,” she said, but the look she gave him was equal parts exasperated and fond. “Ian’s upstairs with Carl and Lip trying to rearrange the furniture, by the way.”
“They’re still not done with that shit?” The Gallagher brothers were moving Carl’s things into Liam’s room for the winter, since the RV had proven to be far too cold to keep a baby in. So Lip, Tami, and Fred would take the brothers’ old room until the weather warmed up. Mickey wasn’t thrilled about more people in the house—shit was crowded enough, especially since Sandy had apparently moved her crap into Debbie’s room and made herself at home—but at least he could always retreat to his and Ian’s room.
“Yeah, apparently little miss middle class wanted to get the vacuum out. I didn’t even know there was one here,” Sandy said, snorting with laughter. Mickey, who had never used a vacuum in his life, just shook his head and called out to Franny as he tossed her a candy bar he’d grabbed on the way out of the store.
“Thanks, uncle Mickey!” she exclaimed.
Debbie glanced over at the bag Mickey held in his hand, eyebrows shooting up and a knowing grin crossing her face. “Is that Ian’s present? The one we talked about?”
Suddenly self-conscious, Mickey gripped the plastic handles of the bag and held it close to his side. “Well, I mean—yeah. It was the only fuckin’ thing I could find at the last minute, so it’s better than nothin’, ya know?”
The look on his sister-in-law’s face told him that for all his blustering, she could see right through him. Debbie had always been good at that, after all. “Well, I think he’s gonna love it, so don’t worry too much. But you’d better go get it wrapped, get it under the tree. Christmas is just a few days away.” Mickey had gotten one or two other—private—gifts for Ian, but this one was what he could actually open on Christmas morning with the family. Even though he knew it wasn’t a big deal—they were married, for fuck’s sake, he could get his husband something sentimental for Christmas if he fuckin’ wanted to—he still felt his face heat up with a little awkwardness as Debbie gave him an excited grin. “Go on, get moving, before those idiots get done moving furniture.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fuckin’ going,” he muttered, but it only served to make Debbie and Sandy laugh. As he headed up the stairs he could hear Franny offering a piece of her chocolate to the two of them, all polite and good mannered and shit. Kid was a cute one—Debbie had managed to raise her right.
Soon enough, Mickey could hear the familiar voices of his husband and brothers-in-law, although he wasn’t able to make out exactly what they were saying. He went into his and Ian’s room, looking around for a good place to hide Ian’s gift where the sneaky asshole wouldn’t find it. Underwear drawer was out; so was under the bed. Even though they never cleaned there, it would be just like Ian to do so when Mickey specifically did not want him to look in that exact spot. He briefly considered hiding it in Debbie’s room, but he didn’t want to be held responsible for Franny breaking it. Not that he thought the little girl would do anything on purpose—she was good as gold, for all the chaos she’d been through in her short five years—but kids were clumsy and he didn’t wanna risk it.
The closet was cluttered, things thrown about haphazardly under the clothes they’d managed to hang up on the rack. His gaze fell on the gun safe he kept shoved in the back corner; it was just the right size to keep Ian’s gift hidden. Mickey went to get the key out of the sock drawer (he still wasn’t used to some of the ways his husband organized things, but if it made Ian happy, Mickey figured he could get used to it), then shoved a bunch of shit out of the way in the closet so he could pull the gun safe out. He didn’t have any wrapping paper, so he’d have to wait until the next day to make it all nice and shit. Ian was going with Carl to do some last minute shopping anyway, as long as the weather held up, so he’d have some time. The gift fit inside the box, although just barely, so Mickey locked it back up and put it back in the closet just as he heard Ian’s voice coming closer to their room. He shoved the closet door closed and scrambled onto the bed, trying to look casual, when his husband walked in and grinned at him.
“Hey, Mick,” Ian said brightly. “When’d you get back home?”
“Eh, not long. Maybe ten, fifteen minutes.” Mickey moved over to make room for Ian, who seemed all too happy to sit down next to him on the bed. He leaned over and put a hand on Mickey’s cheek so he could pull him in for a long, lingering kiss. Honestly, Mickey didn’t think he’d ever get used to it, especially the feeling of the matching silver wedding band on Ian’s ring finger against his skin. They’d only been married for two months now, but like he’d told Debbie, the shine still hadn’t worn off yet. Mickey pulled Ian in closer, a hand on his shoulder, and grinned against his lips at the feeling of warmth that radiated off his husband. Ian was like a space heater, which was great when the weather was like this, all freezing cold and snowing like nobody’s business.
“Missed you,” Ian said against Mickey’s lips, sending a thrill up Mickey’s spine. Two little words that threatened to make him melt like the biggest sap in existence. Then again, the gift in the closet was plenty enough evidence that he was nothing but whipped for Ian fuckin’ Gallagher, and he didn’t give a shit who knew it, either. So what if Lip was gonna give Mickey shit for it on Christmas morning? Ian would love it—Debbie had assured Mickey of that, which was nice of her, but he knew the moment they’d seen it in the shop that it’d been perfect—and that was all that mattered, really.
“Yeah, yeah, missed you too, Gallagher.” Mickey patted Ian’s cheek and smiled softly. “You guys finally get everything fixed up to Blondie’s liking?”
Ian rolled his eyes, but chuckled at Mickey’s nickname for Tami. “Yeah—took a while, but we made it work. Liam’s being a good sport about sharing with Carl, at least. I’m just glad Fred won’t be out in the cold.” After having lived out of a car with his family when he was younger, Mickey knew that the whole situation definitely hit a sore spot for Ian. Personally, Mickey didn’t give a fuck about Lip, but he did agree with Ian that the kid didn’t deserve to freeze. “Thought you said your errands were gonna take longer. Not that I’m complaining about you being back early.”
With a snort of laughter, Mickey snuggled back against Ian, pulling his husband’s arms around him for the warmth. “Roads are shit right now,” he explained. “Smart people are stayin’ home, keepin’ warm, that kinda thing.”
“What, are you saying you’re not smart?” Ian teased, pressing a kiss to Mickey’s jaw. Mickey decided not to dignify that with a response. Instead, he reached around and pinched Ian’s side, right in the spot he knew his husband was most ticklish. It got exactly the reaction he was hoping for—Ian jumped, not having seen it coming, but then he got back at Mickey and shoved him against the mattress with a laugh as he decided to tickle him back.
“Fuck you, Gallagher!” Mickey managed to get out, kneeing him in the stomach to try and get the upper hand. It worked well enough—Ian was caught off-guard long enough for Mickey to get him on his back and pin his hands over his head. It didn’t stop Ian from grinning like a madman, though, and he leaned up to kiss him hard; when he pushed Mickey backwards against the pillows, Mickey didn’t protest or fight, for once. He liked the way it felt when Ian pressed him into the mattress, the weight of his husband on top of him making Mickey feel safe and secure. Warmth radiated off of him in waves as Ian pulled Mickey into a spooning cuddle, nuzzling the back of his neck and pressing a light kiss there just below his hairline.
“Gotcha,” Ian murmured against Mickey’s ear.
Mickey bit his lip and tried not to grin. “Uh huh,” he said. “Ever think of the fact that I got ya right where I want ya?”
Ian shook his head, arms tightening around Mickey for a moment in a hug. “Nah,” he said. “I’ve got you , Mr. Gallagher.”
“Well, Mr. Milkovich, I guess we’re both getting what we want, then.” Mickey’s cheeks were burning with heat, and not just from Ian’s embrace. Even after all these years, Ian could still make him blush like a fucking teenager with a stupid crush. It wasn’t his fault his husband was a sappy bitch, though, and he could enjoy that now. Sometimes he had to remind himself about that, about the fact that he got to wake up next to Ian and go to sleep next to him and kiss him every day for the rest of his life. After they’d spent so long with their lives and relationships in turmoil, through breakups and mental illness and prison sentences and all the rest of it, they’d made it to this point.
Sometimes Mickey wondered how he’d gotten so lucky. Then he would shake his head and decide not to question it, before the universe decided he was too happy and figured it needed to fix that for him.
Mickey turned in Ian’s arms, albeit with some difficulty, then put his own arms over his husband’s shoulders. “Seem pretty feisty today, Red,” he mentioned casually. “Holidays really get you excited, huh?”
With a bashful glance to the side, Ian shrugged, unable to fight the smile that crossed his face. “I’m just happy,” he said, pressing a gentle kiss to Mickey’s lips. “You know, technically I think this is our first Christmas together.”
“Nah,” Mickey said, frowning slightly. “We had the one—right after you had your, uh…your first crash.” He didn’t like saying depressive episode , because it always felt too clinical. “Remember? The kid’s first one—you and Svet made us watch Home Alone three times in a row, and then the stupid Muppet one.” He’d never admit it, but Mickey really did love the Muppet Christmas Carol. Svetlana hadn’t stopped singing the opening number from that one for at least a week every time Mickey walked in a room, even getting Ian and Mandy in on it. That had been the first time Mickey saw Ian smile after weeks of him being stuck in bed, and whatever else he felt about it, Mickey had been grateful to Svetlana for helping pull Ian out of the fog. Whatever else had happened, no matter how it all fell apart, it had been the first good Christmas Mickey could remember.
“...I kinda remember it,” Ian said, sounding a little lost in thought. “Mandy got Yev that Santa onesie, and then she made me help her with Christmas cookies.”
Mickey snorted. “Yeah, and you guys got more cookie batter all over the fuckin’ kitchen than you got in the bowl for the actual cookies.” They hadn’t been great—neither Mandy nor Ian were the best at baking—but the thought and effort mattered more than anything. It had taken all of them to pull Ian out of the darkness in his own mind. They hadn’t had much of a tree, just something that had fallen off the back of a truck, and half the Christmas lights they’d strung up were dead bulbs, but seeing Ian smile again after so long had been worth it. He hadn’t been a ghost for much longer after that.
“...maybe we should call Mandy for Christmas,” Ian suggested quietly. “I got a text from her a few months back, with her new number. She heard about the trial, wanted to see how I was doing.”
Mickey felt a pang in his chest at the thought of his sister. They hadn’t spoken in years, not since she’d run off to Indiana with that fucking bastard of a boyfriend who’d beaten her black and blue, but Ian had seen her a few times in the years since. Told Mickey that she’d been doing better, been living on the West Side last he heard, and had not-so-subtly hinted at maybe getting back in touch. It was a strange thought—they’d been close when they were younger, but he didn’t know how she’d feel about hearing from Mickey after all this time. “...you really think she’d wanna hear from me?”
Ian nodded. “Yeah, Mick, I do.” He’d brought up the idea of reaching out to Svetlana and the kid as well, although that was a bit more of a complicated situation itself. Mickey still had mixed feelings about Yevgeny, but part of him did miss the cobbled together family that they’d created, all those years ago in the Milkovich house. When they were happy together, all of them; when he could look at Yevgeny and Svetlana without bile rising in his throat. Things were more complicated than he’d realized at the time—he knew that now—and it probably hadn’t been much different for her, either. Last he heard she’d married some old geezer and was living it up on the North Side. He could admit it now that he’d been a piece of shit back then. Maybe now that he and Ian had fixed things between them, they could fix some other things as well.
“Yeah, well…lemme think about it.” He felt Ian press a kiss against his hair in acknowledgement, but thankfully his husband didn’t push the issue further than that. Mickey wasn’t ready for it, not just now, but he thought he might get there soon enough.
The two of them settled into a quiet, cozy silence, Ian resting his chin on top of Mickey’s head. Mickey closed his eyes and leaned back against Ian’s broad chest, enjoying the way his husband’s arms enveloped him and made him feel safe and warm. When he cracked open one eyelid he could see the snow still falling out the window, steady and unlikely to stop any time soon. Perfect weather to stay in bed, curled up with the love of his life to keep them both warm and comfortable.
The two of them eventually slid down the bed until they were lying with their heads on the same pillow, Ian snuggling his face against the back of Mickey’s neck. He couldn’t think of anywhere he’d rather be right now, especially with how warm and comfortable his husband was against him. Let it fuckin’ snow for all he cared. This was the best place, the best feeling in the world.
--
As he’d suspected, the next morning found the snow piled up at least six inches, much to Franny’s delight. Debbie had had to cancel her jobs for the day, and both Lip and Tami had gotten calls that their workplaces were closed from the weather as well. Chicago was used to plenty of snow, and they’d already put snow chains on their tires in anticipation, but this time it had come with a half an inch of ice according to the weatherman on TV. Better to stay home than chance ruining one of the few vehicles the family could use.
After breakfast, Liam and Franny had run upstairs to get their winter things on, since Franny had insisted that they go play together. Tami sat at the table feeding Fred while Carl was on the phone to let his boss know he’d be in late. “You and half the city,” Lip told him. “Who’s gonna commit a crime during a fuckin’ blizzard, anyway?”
“You never know what people are gonna do,” Carl said, shrugging his shoulders. Mickey silently agreed with that—he and Iggy and Colin would ride the L to the North Side in the aftermath of a bad storm sometimes, see if they could break into homes that rich fucks had left empty while they spent the winters in Florida or some bullshit. Not that he was gonna admit it to a fuckin’ cop, even one that happened to be his brother-in-law.
“Uncle Ian! Come with me!” Franny called as she jumped down the steps two at a time, the laces of her boots coming untied. With a laugh, Debbie motioned her little girl over so she could re-tie them for Franny. Sandy scooped a big spoonful of cereal into her mouth, glancing over at the mother and daughter pair next to her. His cousin liked to talk a big game, but Mickey could tell she already had a soft spot for Franny. Her and Debbie’s relationship had been like a whirlwind, with her even moving her stuff in a week after his and Ian’s wedding, and this tended to be when Sandy started feeling trapped. Mickey knew the feeling, and he knew his cousin—he should probably talk to her at some point so she didn’t try to bolt the way she always did. Maybe in the past he’d never bothered interfering in her relationships, but he didn’t want to see Debbie hurt. And maybe he thought it’d be good for Sandy not to sabotage what seemed to be a pretty good thing, either.
“All right, Franny, I’ll come with you,” Ian agreed, tugging gently on her pigtails and making the little girl giggle. “Sandy? Debbie? You guys gonna come?”
Sandy shrugged, chewing another spoonful of cereal as she thought it over. “Sure, why not?”
“I’ll get my coat,” Ian said, then glanced over at Mickey, who was sitting in the corner and drinking his coffee. “Mick? You coming?”
Mickey shook his head. “Gotta help Debbie get some more of that Christmas shit outta the attic,” he said. Technically it wasn’t a lie—the wrapping paper was in the attic—and thank fuck Debbie backed him up.
“There’s some old Christmas dresses up there in a box, I wanna see if any of them will fit Franny. And we might have some Christmas stuff for Fred, too!” she added, looking over at Tami. “Sheila made a really cute Christmas sweater for Liam one year, I think we still have it in storage. It’d look really cute on Fred.”
Tami didn’t look entirely thrilled, but Lip nodded with a slight smile. “Yeah, I remember that one—with the fucked up looking reindeer on it, right?”
“You want to put our son in a Christmas sweater with fucked up reindeer on it?”
Lip shrugged. “His first ugly Christmas sweater. Rich people are all about that shit, aren’t they?”
As the two of them went back and forth on the subject, Mickey finished his coffee and took his mug over to the sink just as Ian passed him while pulling on his coat. He reached out and brushed his hand across Mickey’s shoulders. It was just a small touch, but it meant everything that they could have this now, openly showing affection in front of Ian’s family without anyone batting an eyelid. A far cry from the way things were when Mickey lived here the first time. When he and Ian were still an open secret, when Mickey was still terrified that anyone might find him out. But now all that happened was a sly grin from Sandy across the room, more a reminder of their conversation from the day before than anything.
Ian held his arms out and Franny came running to him; he lifted her up into the biggest bear hug he could manage and she shrieked with laughter. “Let’s go! Let’s go!” she chanted as Liam came down the stairs bundled up in a hat, coat, scarf, gloves, and boots. The three of them headed out the back door, a burst of freezing winter air making them all shiver through their sweaters in spite of the heater running full tilt.
“Okay, little red, we doing this or what?” Mickey said, and Debbie got up from the table to follow him up the steps. Once upstairs, they worked together to pull down the attic stairs, and they climbed up one at a time, Debbie turning on the light as she got to the top first.
“Wrapping paper is…right here!” she said, shoving a box towards him. He picked out a roll of green paper with a pattern of gold stars. Ian did love green, Mickey knew, so it’d be a good choice. He’d be a pretty piss-poor husband if he didn’t know Ian’s favorite color, and it wasn’t something dumb like the Santas or elves or shit he saw in the box next to the one he’d picked out. Debbie, for her part, was digging through another box until she pulled out a red sweater that looked a little big for the six-month-old Fred, but was indeed covered in fucked-up looking reindeer. “Ha! I knew we still had it,” she crowed triumphantly. “Fiona never threw away any baby clothes. I’m just glad we still had this one.”
“...those really are some fucked up deer,” Mickey said, furrowing his brow a little. “You really think Tamietti is gonna let Lip put that on her kid?”
“C’mon, Mickey, it’s Christmas,” she said with a grin. “And it’ll be hilarious to see the look on Tami’s face when Lip tells her that they’ve gotta do it. You know he will.” And yeah, Mickey knew Lip well enough by this point to agree with her on that.
“I’m gonna go get this thing wrapped before your kid gets tired and Ian’s back inside,” he said. “You done up here?”
She shook her head. “You go ahead. I’m still trying to find the Christmas dresses for Franny.”
Mickey headed back down the stairs with the wrapping paper tucked under his arm, and headed back to his and Ian’s room. As he dropped it on the floor and found the key to the gun safe, he felt a pang in his heart at the thought of Ian’s face lighting up when he saw the gift Mickey had gotten for him. It wasn’t anything special, but Debbie had assured him that Ian would love it when they’d gone looking last week and found it sitting in a back corner of the store. As he opened the gun safe, Mickey pulled out the wooden trinket, not too big but still enough that the words on it could be read.
It was shaped like a wreath—not some dumbass Christmas thing, but with the natural wood colors still showing through unpainted—and had the names and birthdays of each Gallagher sibling. He’d debated about whether to include Frank and Monica on it, but figured in the end that Ian would appreciate the inclusion of his mother, even if she was on the same level as their father for the other siblings. It was Ian’s gift, after all, so fuck what they thought. Monica was the only one with a date of death added, but her and Frank’s wedding dates—all three of them—were added beneath their names, which sat side-by-side at the top of the wreath. Under Lip’s name was Fred, and Debbie had Franny’s beneath her own. And next to Ian’s name was Mickey, his full name and date of birth burned into the wood, along with the date of their wedding underneath.
Ian’s family was the most important thing to him—Mickey knew that. He also knew that, even though it came off as a joke, Ian calling him “Mr. Gallagher” every now and again was his way of letting Mickey know that he was now, officially, part of that family as well. They’d gotten called ghetto married since Ian was seventeen and Mickey was nineteen, when Mickey was technically married to Svetlana and raising a child with her and Ian.
But now it was official, their names forever linked together both on their marriage license and in the records of the city of Chicago. Anyone could look it up and see—see that Ian and Mickey had stood up and proclaimed their love for each other, had said the words and signed the papers that told the world that they belonged together forever. And sure, maybe Ian had gotten their license framed (although it was still sitting in the back of the closet), but this would show Ian that Mickey accepted his place in Ian’s family, too. Their names burned into the wood together, with room…room for others, maybe, one day. And even if those names never came along, it’d still be all right. They had each other, and they had their family. And Mickey knew, as he clumsily wrapped the wooden wreath in the green and gold paper, that things would be all right.

Hi! 47, 48 and 49 for the headcanon tag if you are still writing them please ty ily 🧡🖤
47. AU if they had a more normal childhood- How would they be in high school? (Would Ian be a jock? a cheerleader? would he be popular? Would Mickey enjoy studying? what's his favorite subject?) i don't think there's a universe where ian and mickey have normal childhoods and still come out the other end as ian and mickey. but if they had somewhat-stable childhoods? i think they would still be the goofy army kid and the drug dealer. mickey would barely make it to graduation and he would be a class behind, but he wouldnt drop out without even finishing freshman year like in canon. ian loves rotc but he doesnt have tunnel vision fkr joining the military, because hes not as desperate to get away and start a new life. maybe ian gets his math tutoring from mickey, and mickey studies for english tests with ian. i love aus where they are more than just secret fuckbuddies in high school. i need more of them holed up in ians room at dinnertime, passing cigs and joints, teaching each other about inverse trig functions and symbolism in the great gatsby. yeah a lot of things are still shit and they still make a lot of mistakes. yeah mickeys dad is still a piece of shit and ian barely makes it through senior year from the stress of his diagnosis. but it's better. and they are still ian and mickey. so it's all still worth it in the end
48. After awhile, do you think people got to Ian and Mickey for relationship advice? (Gallaghers / friends / franny ) i definitely think debbie tries to subtly hound mickey for info about sandy. what she's doing, where she's at, who she's hanging out with. at first mickey tells her to ask sandy her fucking self, but he realizes 1. he has to be nicer to the only free welder he knows 2. nothing he does to deflect the questions actually makes debbie leave him alone. so he answers her curtly and holds in his annoyance for debbie's obsession with his cousin. eventually he actually tells her something worth listening to, and debbie takes the hint and tries a new tactic for approaching sandy (debbie hasn't been able to get her out of her head and she needs closure or she's gonna combust)
i think lip and tami also sometimes try to drag gallavich into their fights. "you know what it's like living together in a small space, tell her im right." "you've made your relationship work for a while, why dont you give him some advice on how to do the same thing." ian tries to stay out of it because hes very biased toward lip, but mickey honestly dgaf about lip and tami's relationship so he tells them they're both equally and dumb and annoying and they better find someone else to talk to about all this relationship shit before he rigs their duplex with c-4s
49. Gallaghers post canon: Does Lip go back to school/ gets a profession? Do all of them talk to Fiona? What happened with Debbie and Heidi/ Sandy? Franny? Does Carl open the cop bar/ stays a cop? Does Liam live with Lip and Tami? How does he deal with Franks death? okok i have many thoughts about post-s11. i will be as succinct as possible as to not write a 10 page essay about my fanon theories. if y'all want that you'll have to pay me to go on a podcast or smth.
i don't think lip goes back to school, at least not in the near future. maybe further down the line, but for now he's in the mechanic and refurbishing business. which honestly he can make a hell of a lot of money doing so i see no reason why he would feel the need to go back to school and burn himself out and be in debt all over again.
the siblings keep in contact with fiona. i like to imagine she eventually moves much closer to chicago like fort wayne or springfield. somewhere that makes long weekend visits possible. they definitely facetime and are on good terms. if she moves closer i can see liam possibly moving to live with her? or at least stay with her during summer break
fuck heidi i really dgaf about her. i hope debbie and sandy can at least make up and be cordial with each other. i think they are very off-and-on for a looong time. toxic situationship that neither can seem to get away from. they both got shit they gotta figure out if they ever wanna be girlfriends again. sandy throwing debbies trauma in her face was FUCKT UP. and what the hell was with her secret son?? that plot was weird as hell😭
carl dont need to be a cop so yeah i will make him a bartender instead. fuck the cop bar thing, but they can have, like...a cop night or something. like tuesdays and thursdays during happy hour they get a discount or smth. but i REFUSE to turn it entirely into a cop bar. carl lives in the apartment above it
ummm okay so first and foremost lip is NOT selling that house idc what anyone says I AM NOT LETTING HIM DO THAT. DO YOU KNOW HOW BAD THE HOUSING MARKET GOT IN 2021? FUCK OFF. he and tami are either gonna have to suck it the fuck up and live in the gallagher house (ITS A FREE FUCKING HOUSE!!!!) with liam and probably also debbie and franny at least for a little while longer, or lip has to stop being an idiot and live in one of the MANY FREE HOUSING OPTIONS TAMIS FAMILY GAVE THEM. DONT piss me off phillip. with carl, ian, and mickey out of the house i don't see why they can't live there for at least a couple years. debbie can take her time finding an apartment while still living there, liam can have some semblance of normalcy in his life without having to move schools, the older sibs can get their own room (lip and tami, debbie, liam, franny and fred), if they can't make it work then they can't make ANYTHING work. it's literally half as crowded. and i think liam takes franks passing really hard, but i like to think everyone is much more supportive of him than ian was toward mickey when terry died. liam, carl, and mickey can have a heart-to-heart about their complex relationships with their dads. i dont think fiona comes up for the funeral - she probably goes on a bender in miami lbr. but i imagine liam has a decent enough support system that he won't be traumatized by franks deathl

What’s a fic you’ve read more than once? we drag ourselves hand over hand by jesuisgourde. i read it for the first time pretty recently and i've read it at least five or six times since. there's untagged major character death, okay? there’s uncertainty and hope and grief and anger. it is well written and feels authentic. there’s also sweetness and family and love. it is Fucking Sad. it is painful. but it’s so worth it! no one needs to know how many times i've read the taming of mickey milkovich by @whatthebodygraspsnot it's between me and god. but if you’re into upset mickey acting out and ian being rough and sweet all at the same time and setting things straight and hot bjs, you should also read it. and i have only indecent things to say about and i'm your warm receiver by @metalheadmickey FAVE. i think i commented something about secondhand subspace and i am not kidding. it does things to me.
also cooperative gameplay by grayola. i've only read it twice but i'm new here and it's long so it feels like a thing.
What’s a gifset you always have to reblog? you may have noticed i will always reblog mickey's brown sweater. haters are WRONG. and the 5x10 dugouts scene because bloody kisses are hot and i love fictional violence. and also that scene in the hallway with that fucking purple robe. i can't remember the episode but it’s the scene where ian looks like he's gonna devour mickey and mickey is just having the time of his life.
What’s a headcanon you can’t stop thinking about? thinking about mickey and the gallaghers all the time. mickey and carl are besties and they do the dumbest, shadiest shit together. i think they like exploding things and playing with fire and pulling off semi-dangerous pranks. they love to shoot together (ian isn't allowed to come because he's better than they are). they have the same taste in video games and they are insufferably competitive. they're both the biggest softies with animals (the whole cat thing in s1 never happened in this house). actually they're both just huge softies in general. like they're all family oriented but i think lip tried to impose his will cause he thinks he knows best and will try to Teach Lessons. and debbie struggles sometimes because her siblings have been assholes to her at times and i think she might want to reciprocate sometimes. and ian is torn between finally prioritizing himself and mickey sometimes. but i think carl and mickey are just no questions asked generous and showing tf up regardless of how they feel about a situation because that's what family does. and also they are chaos uncles and don't even try to hide it. they're giving the kids sweets at all hours and toy guns and encouraging rough play. when the kids are teens they're the ones giving them their first beers and telling them they're overpaying for weed. they're gonna be on speeddial to pick them up from parties and the police station. i also think that when carl leaves policing (because just no) and ian finds what makes him happy, carl joins mickey in security. mickey and debbie are legit close friends. mickey doesn't like to talk to mandy about his relationship b/c she always takes ian's side or makes assumptions about mickey because of their past. but debbie is a great sounding board and i think mickey is good for her too. they're honest with each other in a very matter-of-fact way. mickey appreciates having someone besides ian really consider him. debbie likes being treated like a capable adult. and mickey respects her and takes an interest in her job. and they both feel strongly about self-advocating, ie not taking any shit. whatever weirdness the gallaghers had about debbie's sexuality mickey DOES NOT. i think they go out to gay bars together sans ian and have beers. and mickey will tease debbie about her taste in women but also be her wingman. he’s surprisingly good at it and can actually pick out good matches for her. they tag team planning family events and eventually rope in tammi. they make the holidays so nice and fun and start new traditions.
What’s a fanart you love looking at? literally anything from @darthvaders-wife. i went to patreon for her uncensored kinktober stuff but her notting hill comic is so good i cry. also really enjoying @gallavichonly's style esp their mickey. the energy is just perfect! and i think about @harukanaaaa's baby ian often. he's so precious.
What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else? 🐙. shameless gave me so many Disappointments and Sorrows that it's taken my fandom consumption to new lows. in a good way! gallavich's canon development is so goddamn tragic that fic writers can put them in any hurt/comfort/sick/angsty/death situation and i will enjoy it and ask for more.
What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of? mickey's floopy hair and million layers and cutoff shirts and his whole Deal immediately read so queer to me. it may just be me. i want his aesthetic. anyway i love gnc/trans mickey. also aging, hairier, and/or chubby husbands. i love cam's abs and noel's tiny waist as much as the next guy but sometimes i want ian and mickey's bodies to be as soft as their hearts. they're so horny for each other i just think they'd both be into there being more flesh to grab and bite. and i want graying hair and wrinkles and glasses and sex that's maybe less acrobatic but just gets nastier and more intimate. also i need ian 'i love smells' gallagher to drag his face through mickey's sweaty armpits more often and give mickey chest hair cause ian loves rubbing against that too. and i want mickey pulling on ian's beard and playing with his leg hair. idk i'm just thinking about their soft bellies and sweat-matted happy trails rubbing together. look i'm a little worked up about them and perpetually horny. someone should stop me because i am embarrassing!! also we need more fisting. as much as we love ian's hands, mickey loves them more and he is not scared. put one inside him.
What’s a plot hole you wish had been answered or resolved? why didn't we get them dealing with 3x06? what happened to yevgeny? was he mickey's or not? and regardless, how did mickey and ian deal with losing him? why'd they do svet so dirty? she just wanted stability and family and honestly i think svet+gallavich and svet+kev and v were both promising dynamics. hated the way they wrote fiona out. and then never mentioned her? i wanted more gallagher siblings screen time and i specifically mean ian, debbie, carl, and liam. i still don't understand what happened with the house. carl's money paid for it but in fiona's name. then she gave it to debbie? lip couldn't have sold it no matter who sided with him so what was the point of that storyline? also s10-11 were all over the place tonally.

Shameless, Chapter 11
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: small instances of violence/siblings fighting, mentions of cheating/infidelity.
“Hey, thanks for coming with us Sofia!” Ian smiled.
“Yeah, really sucks that dad wasn’t able to come…or any of my brothers…they weren’t gonna release Mickey without an adult present.” Mandy agreed.
“I got you, Mandy.” You smiled softly, wrapping an arm around her, “you’re my little brother’s girlfriend…practically family…”
Ian gave you a look and you couldn’t help but laugh.
You knew why he’d shown up.
You knew that he’d been screwing Mickey on the down low.
“Here he comes,” Mandy smiled as they opened the back door and he was released, “you know, you didn’t have to come with us, Ian…”
“Bad neighborhood!” Ian said quickly, barely looking at the two of you as he kept his gaze focused on Mickey, “need to make sure that you guys are safe.”
“Yeah, we live in a bad neighborhood!” Mandy scoffed.
“Yeah, but we’re related to the bad people in our neighborhood,” Ian argued, “you guys aren’t related to people here…”
“What the hell is the Gallagher family reunion doing here?”
“Dad, Joey, and nearly everyone else was busy…so Sofia offered to be the person over eighteen to get you out…and Ian-“
“Hey!”
“He thought I might need protection!” Mandy laughed.
“Oh yeah?” Mickey asked as he reached out and pulled Mandy into a hug, “you may think that you know my sister. But you don’t know my sister til you fought my sister! She’s protecting your ass!”
“You smell like barbeque sauce…”
Mickey reached out and pinched her tits, twisting her nipples through her bra. She screamed and grabbed his arms, fighting him off, “OH, OW! What did dad tell you?”
“Oh, ow! Fuck-Fuck the police!”
“No titty twisters now that I’m a C cup!” she growled, pushing her brother away from herself.
“C cup? Bitch you wish!” Mickey scoffed. He turned, looking to the guards, “HEY! Fuck you! Fuck you! And especially fuck you!”
“Alright, come on kid, before they lock you back up!” you teased as Mandy and Ian started pulling him away from the doors. He wrapped an arm around Mandy’s shoulders and tried to wrap one around Mickey’s, but he pushed him away from them.
“You uh-knocked up pretty good…” he commented dryly as he looked back at you, “still with the cop, or is that a little Milkovich taking up rent space in there?”
“It’s the cops,” Mandy laughed, “but they’ve been splits Ville since he tried to break up Fiona and her boyfriend.”
“Thought they did break up?”
“They did…and Colin’s been at our house every other day with flowers or otherwise trying to win Sofia back.”
“He knows the little crotch goblin isn’t his?”
“Trust me, Mickey…Colin knows that my child belongs to Tony.”
“We could still raise him as a Milkovich if you and the cop don’t get back together though,” he shrugged, “sure dad would love to finally have a grandkid…and you know that Colin would raise the bastard like it was his own.”
“Gee, Mick…thanks for the thoughts…”
“Just saying,” he shrugged, “any of you fuckers got a light? No one put any money on my books, and I’d kill for a smoke!”
“I don’t right now, but I could drop a carton off after I get done at my shift at the club…Col was saying he wanted to see me…”
“You’re not coming home?” Ian asked.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be home in time to make sure Debbie’s daycare is good…was just gonna stop off at Chez Milkovich first.”
“Sounds good,” Mickey agreed, “I’ll tell Colin he’ll get half the carton…”
“What the hell was that?”
“Oh, you saw the little slut and her grandpa tipping out sis big time too?”
“Oh, I saw little slut just kiss my sister,” you answered as you placed a drink on the bar, “six fifty.”
The guy tossed a ten on the bar and told you to keep the change as he walked off and was quickly replaced by another one.
“That a thing?” you asked.
“What, Fiona going out with them all the time?”
“Judging by that tone, I’m going to assume that it is,” you smirked, but the smirk was quickly replaced by a frown, “but no…was talking about her kissing that chick.”
“She does it all the time.”
A shiver ran down your spine, “damn…maybe I have been missing out on what’s going down…Do you think I’ve been spending too much time at the Milkovich’s?”
“Milkovich, or with your husband?”
You frowned, “I-It was only once, V-“
“Girl, he’s your husband. You should be spending more time at the house next door than the one a few blocks down.”
“V I don’t need a speech on a soap box.”
“All I’m saying, is that you can’t just let people into your life when it suits you Sofia,” she sighed as she put a hand on the small of your back, “Tony was good for you…sure, he called the cops on Steve…and he got him to give him the house…but he did it because he knows the types of guys Fiona lets in, and he was trying to protect you guys…I mean, you remember the guy with the anger issues…and the guy who started trying to deal drugs out of your house when you were at school…and the guy that-“
“I get it,” you frowned, cutting her off with a shake of your head, “but it-he could have talked to me about it instead of going right on after Steve…instead of calling the cops on Ian and Lip.”
“Sweetie, he thought he was doing what was right…” she offered, “and anyways…he said he kicked out that rub and tugger after your conversation…you still have your copy of the key…fuck the Milkovich kid…go get your husband back…”
“Yeah…you’re right, V…” you smiled, “thanks.”
Your brow quirked, but you didn’t say anything as you made your way past Fiona, who was sleeping on the couch, and into the kitchen.
“Quiz me!” Ian encouraged.
You messed with Lip’s hair as you passed, and opened the fridge to start breakfast, “who needs food still?”
“Me!” Carl called.
“Well, what do you want, kid?”
“Cereal?”
You nodded, tossing him the bag, before looking at your other brothers.
“We both do!” Ian admitted.
“Uh, if A equals B, then B equals A!”
“Symmetric!”
“He may as well get a windshield and call it a car!” Lip groaned.
“It’s just a phase.”
“What are you guys talking about.”
“She hasn’t even slept with him yet!” Lip admitted.
“He’s talking about Karen.”
“Ugh,” you groaned, “I’ve never liked her. You could do so much better than her, Lip…”
“Maybe he’s a eunuch!” Lip said, ignoring your comment.
“Maybe she just likes him?” Ian shrugged.
“Debbie, what do you and Liam want for breakfast.
“Whatever?” Debbie shrugged.
“Lip, why are you sleeping in mine and Fi Fi’s bed?” Fiona asked as she came into the kitchen.
“Lip was sleeping in our bed?” you asked, “what’s wrong with your room?”
“Ask her!” Lip frowned, pointing at Debbie.
“I moved Liam!” she called, coming towards you so that she could reach into the fridge, “I can’t be in the same room where Liam is constantly masturbating.”
“It’s not masturbating if nothing comes out!”
“According to whom?” Fiona asked.
“My friend Jack O’ Donnel.”
“Not true!” Debbie claimed, with a shake of her head.
“It’s kind of true!”
“Not legally true!” Ian argued.
“So, Liam could be arrested for masturbating?”
“What?” Fiona asked, “no. Listen up!”
“What is the age where it’s inappropriate to arouse yourself in front of others?” Lip asked, “even if nothing comes out.”
“Two years old!”
“Guys, we’re not having this conversation,” you argued, playfully slapping Lip upside the head, “Lip, keep quizzing Ian. Carl, masturbating is still masturbating even if nothing comes out, regardless of age….Fi…we have to do something if it’s becoming a problem…maybe move Lip into Frank’s room?”
“Unfortunately, Frank has rented out his room to a pregnant woman!” Fiona groaned as she slipped a new shirt over her head and pointed upstairs.
“What?” you asked.
“I told them!” Debbie announced.
“You let her in last night?” you asked.
Debbie shrugged, “she had a key! Besides, she’s from China. They kill extra babies there.”
“Liam needs to go back in with you!” Fiona frowned.
“WHAT NO!” Debbie screeched, before looking to you, “Fi Fi, tell her that Liam can’t be back in with me.”
“Debbie-“
“Debs, that’s not fair,” you tried, “maybe we switch with the boys. Have the three of us in the boy’s room and the boys split off? Carl and Liam in one and Ian and Li-“
What’s done is done!” she yelled, looking between you and your sister. She stormed off leaving you with your sister.
“Okay…for now, Liam’s in the boy’s room!” Fiona announced.
“What?”
“SERIOUSLY?” Lip asked.
“Four guys in one room!”
“Isn’t that a health violation?” Ian asked.
“Why can’t we do what Sofia said?” Carl asked, “you three in our room and then Lip and Ian in yours and me and Liam in Debbies?”
“We don’t have money for anymore beds, and I can promise you that Debs won’t sleep on the top bunk and Sofia won’t be able to jump up there with as pregnant as she is.”
“Well, we have to figure something out!” you tried, “Fi…there’s not enough room in there for them…maybe we push the chick out that Frank rented his room to?”
“We’ll find Frank and figure it out, but until then, four to the room!”
There was a cough, and the kitchen went silent as the woman that Frank had rented his room to came down the stairs. Fiona left the kitchen in a huff, and you put a hand on Lip’s shoulder before sliding around and kissing Ian’s temple, “We’ll get him here and figure it out…I promise guys…it won’t stay this way.”
“Promise!”
“Of course!” you smiled, “now come on…you gotta work at Kash and Grab, and Lip…you said you and Kev need extra hands with the ice cream truck today?”
“Yeah…”
“Fiona…you got the daycare?” you asked as you followed your two brothers outside to where Kev was eagerly honking the horn for the ice cream truck.
You stopped though, your heart aching, when also coming to the bottom of the steps, to the door right beside yours was your husband.
“Sofia-“
You couldn’t stop the butterflies that rose in your stomach at the thought of it.
V had convinced you that maybe it was best to give Tony another shot. After all, he was trying to do what was best for your family. He didn’t have any ill intentions with it, other than to create some distance between Fiona and Steve.
When he fucked up and realized that Lip and Ian were the ones that got arrested, he’d done everything in his power to make sure they walked…Steve just happened to give him the house after the fact, thinking that was the main factor in keeping them out of jail.
And then last month when the two of you hooked up, and he admitted that he’d kicked out the Laotian girl…
He did care.
“Tony?” you asked softly as you opened the door to the house.
You didn’t get a response from him.
But you did hear music coming from upstairs.
Closing the door behind yourself, you pushed upstairs. The lights were off in the master, and the door to the nursery was closed, but you saw lights on in one of the other rooms, on the far side of the hall.
“Tony?” you tried again.
A woman moaned in response.
Your heart broke.
But that didn’t stop you from stomping down the hall and barging in only to see your husband balls deep in another woman.
“FUCKING SERIOUSLY?”
“Sof-“
“Go fuck yourself, Tony. I’m done!” you spat, throwing your wedding ring at the ground, “I want a divorce!”
“Go fuck yourself, Tony….I don’t want to hear it.”
“Sofia…wait…wait, would you please jus-“
He stopped speaking when you whipped around, and slapping him hard across the face, “don’t you fucking touch me, Tony.”
“I-I deserved that.”
“You said you were done!” you spat, “you said you kicked them out…you-“
“I did…but then-“
“Then what?” you growled, “what happened Tony?”
“You didn’t come back!” he answered, “I-I kicked her out. I got rid of her. But then you didn’t come home. You just kept staying over there! To the fucking Milkovich house. Hell, I arrested one of his brothers the other week and he admitted that you were fucking Colin again. Wh-what did you expect me to do, Sofia? Wait forever?”
“I didn’t expect you to stick your dick in another woman while I made sure my family was okay, Tony!”
“You weren’t making sure your family was okay, you were being a crazy bitch!” he growled, “you were going out and fucking another man while I sulked in our home.”
“YOU FUCKED ANOTHER WOMAN FIRST!” you screamed in his face, “YOU CHEATED ON ME. YOU TRIED TO GET MY LITTLE BROTHERS LOCKED UP! YOU FUCKED UP FIRST, TONY!”
“I’m sorry,” he tried, his head shaking, “I’m sorry, Sofia…just please...”
You looked down to see him holding your wedding ring in his hands, “what the fuck is this, Tony?”
“Please don’t leave me, Sofia…”

INTRODUCING MILAN GRIMES: we love to mistake butterflies for cardiac arrest.
FULL NAME milan juniper grimes.
BIRTHDAY september 3rd ( 22) .
BIRTHPLACE hollowcreek , massachusetts.
GENDER cis female.
OCCUPATION barista at hollow creek cafe.
BUILD athletic.
HAIR COLOR brown .
EYE COLOR brown.
HEIGHT 5’6
PARENTS donovan grimes ( father ) + patricia yang ( biological mother ) , franny grimes ( mother ).

PETS stellar ( black cat ) .
CHARACTER PARALLELS: april kepner (greys anatomy), haley james scott (one tree hill), elena gilbert (the vampire diaries), charlotte york (sex and the city), debbie gallagher (shameless)
BIOGRAPHY with mentions of drunk driving, drinking while pregnant, neglect and abuse
milan came into this world in the form of an emergency c-section after her mother had totaled her car driving drunk after a night out celebrating the end of her pregnancy. it was a miracle that she was born and even a bigger miracle that she was born healthy. her mother immediately signed over her rights to her father who had just found out about his daughter only hours before as he was the emergency contact listed.
growing up in a household that wasn’t entirely loving wasn’t easy on a child like milan. she craved the attention, always wanted to make sure that she was doing good. she was what some would call a brown noser but being that way was more of a defense mechanism than anything. she was never free from the abuse that followed but she remained positive - hopeful for a change that would never come.
despite the hardships that they faced, milan found herself excelling in school and even contemplated going off to college but after graduation, she couldn’t leave. hollow creek was her home and despite the trials and trauma that she experienced, she couldn’t leave. instead, she found herself working at hollow creek cafe and has been with the company for the last four years. she has taken quite a few online classes but she’s already made up her mind that working at the cafe was her life and she wasn’t about to dream for something bigger.
HEADCANONS
milan can talk your ear off about any horror movie there is. when she needed an escape from her life, she found them in horror movies. something about killings was a comfort to her.
she has never had her first kiss. she has had crushes but has never been asked out on a date or had anybody try anything with her. she has a feeling that it has to do with her family name and she has accepted her fate when it comes to romance and relationships.
never a coffee drinker until she started to work at the cafe. she made one of each drinks on the menu so that she could recommend items to customers. she now has a coffee obsession.
her love language is physical touches and words of affirmation. she has always been the touchy feeling kind of girl and it brings her a comfort. she also likes to tell people how proud of them she is or give compliments to strangers. she also loves it when someone tells her what a good job she is doing.
CONNECTIONS
best friend/crush (male counterpart, aged 22-28): this person is the one person that she relies on for everything. from the moment they met, they immediately clicked and he was like the other half of her soul. she loves him with every fiber of her being and not just in a platonic way. he is the one person that she trusts with her entire life.
best friend (female counterpart, aged 22-24): her ride or die. they would literally do anything for the other one and most people that see them together know that they mean business. met when they were very young and have been inseparable since. (think peyton sawyer and brooke davis)
hollow creek cafe customers (any gender and any age): could be a regular that comes to get their coffee fix and milan is the one that always makes them their drinks. could be someone they just met and gave recommendations to. any type of customer is appreciated.
enemies (any gender and any age): someone that doesn’t like milan for whatever reason (could be due to just her name and reputation or some superficial reason).
online friends (any gender and any age): milan spends a majority of her time outside of working online in different forums. this could be a friendship or something more. maybe they live in hollow creek as well or somewhere on the other side of the world.

C, F, L for ask game.
A ship I have never liked and probably never will:
Oooh girl you trying to get me in trouble LOL. Every ship from my last post probably falls under this category as well, besides Rickyl and Desus because I genuinely don’t think I’ve been in this fandom long enough to say that those won’t be my favorite ships in a few years. I don’t think they’ll grow on me but I also said that Daryl would never grow on me, and the same with Negan, soooo I’m not going to make the mistake of using those words ever again LOL.
I can say for TWD though that Daryl Dixon x Leah Shaw, Negan Smith x Alpha, and.. whew… Bethyl aren’t ever gonna be something I like. You’re gonna get me killed here. But Beth Greene x Daryl Dixon is almost exactly the same age gap as Amanda and I were, and you were already my friend when that whole mess happened so I’m sure that comes as no surprise to you. (Amanda is my ex girlfriend?? who was 38 when I was 15, fun time 😀). And Daryl was I believe 41 while Beth was 18 so that’s quite literally the same number of years. 23. No ty. It doesn’t nauseate me because she’d be an adult but I do try to avoid reading it; my mutuals can talk about it though if they want for all I care. I do in fact believe that Beth had a crush on Daryl and just wouldn’t have pursued him, looked for those traits elsewhere.
Marvel forever dislikes: Tony Stark x Peter Parker, Wanda Maximoff x Puerto Maximoff, Gamora x Nebula, Peter Parker x Morgan Stark (seriously, ew), Thanos x Loki Laufeyson, Odin Borrson x Loki Laufeyson, Odin Borrson x Thor Odinson, Odin Borrson x Hela Odindottir, Freyja Freyrdottir (Frigga) x Loki Laufeyson, May Parker-Jameson x Peter Parker, Norman Osborn x Peter Parker, Otto Octavius x Peter Parker, Skip Westcott x Peter Parker!!!!!!!!, Tony Stark x Sentient Armor, Steve Rogers x Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers x Sharon Carter, Bruce Banner x Natasha Romanoff, Brunnhilde x Hela Odindottir, Thor Odinson x Carol Danvers, James Howlett x Anna Marie, if I listed them all I’d be here all night
DC forever dislikes: Alfred Pennyworth x Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne x Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Damian Wayne, Lucas Fox, Barbara Gordon, or any of Batman’s sidekicks (I think you get my point by now), Jack Napier x Harleen Quinzel, Jack Napier x Clark Kent, Hal Jordan x Arisia Rrab (she’s an entire child 😐), Dick Grayson x Catalina Flores (sexual assault), there are just so many more
Shameless forever dislikes: Fiona Gallagher x literally everyone she ever dated, Debbie Gallagher x all of her exes as well, Lip Gallagher x Mandy Milkovich (she rped him guys!!! don’t forget), Lip Gallagher x Karen Jackson, Karen Jackson x Frank Gallagher, Frank Gallagher x Sammi Slott (that’s your child dude…), Ian Gallagher x Kash Karib, Ian Gallagher x Caleb Daniels, Carl Gallagher x Kassidi Gallagher (typing that made me laugh 😭), Carl Gallagher x Dominique Winslow, Carl Gallagher x Tish (she rped him as well), Liam Gallagher x Sissy (MORE rpe), please just let my babies be happy and in love
Euphoria forever dislikes: Maddie Perez x Nate Jacobs, Rue Bennett x Jules Vaughn, Cal Jacobs x Nate Jacobs, Cal Jacobs x Jules Vaughn, Cassie Howard x Nate Jacobs, Rue Bennett x Nate Jacobs, Rue Bennett x Fezco O’Neill, Fezco O’Neill x Ashtray
What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
I am still a Marvel and DC fan, so it’s gotta be those. I’ve literally been a fan since I was born.
Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves.
Maggie Rhee does her absolute best for her son. I… don’t have much /pos commentary besides that 😭

adela’s been with a lot of bad selfish people, used to be overly generous but now is less so bc you get what you give

Shameless Review GWSS
The TV show, Shameless, follows a large white family with absentee parents, navigating a life of poverty in Chicago. We chose to do a review on this show because it presents many powerful issues in casual ways, and shows the often controversial perspectives of the low class main characters and how they interact with people oppressed by other factors.
The themes touched on this tv show are very political and social related, just as we can read on the title, the show addresses those themes shamelessly, they are portrayed in a realistic way, they are a reflection of the modern american society and its issues, often not taking a side part on the issues but been develop as we could see them on real life, the themes are mostly sensitives, some examples are abortion, gentrification, sexism, grooming, LGBTQ+, drugs addictions, racism, poverty etc. very much mature themes and written on a non correct political way. These controversial themes are shown through charismatic characters, the protagonists are the Gallagher family formed by Frank Gallagher, (father) Fiona, (oldest daughter) Lip, (oldest brother) Ian, (middle brother) Debbie and Carl, (youngest siblings). Their dynamics are mostly dysfunctional but relatable especially to the middle and lower class families.
Paul Abbott is a British television writer and producer who created "Shameless". Abbott was well-known for his work on highly rated television shows including "State of Play" and "Clocking Off" prior to "Shameless." His skill for character-driven storytelling and complicated plots, which frequently explored working-class life and sociopolitical themes, was on display in these shows.
It's critical to comprehend Abbott's past in order to appreciate "Shameless." The show’s tone and direction were probably inspired by his thematic interests in exposing the challenges of working-class families and developing multifaceted characters. Considering how his narrative has changed over the course of several episodes gives viewers a context for understanding the complexities and depth of "Shameless" as well as the larger thematic themes at work. Essentially, Abbott's creative background enhances the viewing experience by providing perspectives on the narrative decisions and character growth made in the show.
Shameless Season 1 Episode 11 “Daddy’s Girl” Review
By Evelyn Alfaro
November 2023
The episode starts by showing Fiona, one of key female characters of this episode being overwhelmed by her duties as the oldest daughter of her family, she has to attend her little sister mom’s club, where she meets a woman named Jasmine who seems to be different from the other mean and superficial mom’s in the club. Fiona also has to constantly look after her other three brothers which often get in trouble, the oldest brother Lip, is important in this episode because his partner Karen, second key female character for this episode is going through an emotional breakdown as her dad shamed her about her sexual life at a public event. Fiona’s family counts with only a single parent, the father, who is having trouble keeping a stable job and because of that he applies to dangerous jobs, hurting himself in order to collect the insurance as a fast way to get money.
The main race show on this episode is white, the main family of the show are all white however they are a low income white family, besides that the characters still gets white privilege, some examples are the way the father and oldest brothers are mentioned and show to committed several felonies in this episode however they are not heavily treated by the law and the police, not as a black man for example would. Fiona feels out of place at the mom’s reunion, despite the fact that most of the women there are white she noticed that they are more privileged by having time to attend those clubs or going for coffee in the middle of the day. In the episode only one person of color is shown. A male, he is one of the dad’s coworkers who has a dangerous job but is good at it, the episode lacks character of color but showed him as a kind man which I find goodly surprised considering the behavior of the other males in this episode. Gender is shown in a normative way and oftenly stereotypical for all characters. The amount of screen time female and male characters had are the same however the participation of the female characters are much more relevant for the episodes plot. Starting with Fiona whose character is in constant pressure to fill a mother role, her character is locked on the sexist idea that it is her responsibility to take care of the house and her siblings just because she is the next older woman in the family. She also struggles with having to work to feed her family since her dad is an alcoholic who doesn't pay much attention to his kids, with his behavior it gets harder for the family to achieve a better economic situation. The show portrays the male figure as careless and violent however they are still at some point written to be charismatic which I sense is done as a way to justify or softer those male characters actions.
The secondary plot of the episode is focused on Karen, she is inconform on the gender expectations her family has put on her. By this character being a white young woman from a Christian family her gender and sexuality is expected to be traditional and conservative with a huge importance on keeping her “purity”. Other way in which sexuality can be analyzed on this episode is with Fiona’s and Jasmine’s relationship that starts as an awkward friendship, Jasmine shows a lot of interest on Fiona and they end up having close interactions, the episode does not clarify that relationship but we can understand that Jasmine is a queer character who has not came out since she is revel to have a husband and Fiona might also be queer but she still is trying to figure it out. The episode does a good job showing lgbtq+ relationships since it portrays them organically and not hetero normative, both characters are comfortable on their femininity, it also gives visibility to queer relationships between women which are not much seen on shows as for example male/male queer relationships are. Going back to the character of Karen, she puts herself in dangerous sexual situations. I analyzed this behavior as a way for her to navigate with the trauma/ humiliation her dad perpetuated on her, as she was seeking a way to feel control over her body. This character is treated in a misogynistic way even by her partner Lip who was supposed to be understanding since Karen trusts him, he calls her a whore for showing being upset with her dad. The show in this episode addresses psychological domestic violence towards women, with Fiona and Karen characters that are shown to be struggling with their mental health because of their family and partners, the violence towards them being linked to their gender, economic status and religion.
Shameless Season 6 Episode 4 “Going Once, Going Twice” Review
By Phoebe Le
November 2023
In "Shameless" Season 6, Episode 4, the Gallagher family faces a series of challenges as their extended family puts their home up for public auction. Fiona, the oldest daughter, takes center stage in this episode as she works tirelessly to secure funds to prevent the loss of their home. The family's financial struggles are further complicated by Chuckie's release from juvie, leading him to stay with the Gallaghers due to his mother Sammi's incarceration. Debbie, another Gallagher sibling, takes on a nanny role for the Wexler family, hoping for financial support from Mr. Wexler after Erika, the dying mother, passes away.
In terms of gender representation, the episode delves into Fiona's struggle as the mother figure of the household, highlighting the challenges women face in a working-class environment. Frank, the supposed father figure, reinforces gender stereotypes by attempting to match Debbie with an older man, emphasizing economic dependence. The show addresses gender dynamics through Fiona's fight for independence, defying traditional roles.
Race is subtly explored in the context of neighborhood gentrification, shedding light on racialized consequences and the impact on communities of color. The Gallagher family, portrayed as a low-income white family, faces inequality and struggles against systemic issues. While the show addresses race, it occasionally falls short of providing a comprehensive examination, relying on stereotypes at times.
The presumed genders of the main characters align with their portrayed identities, with Fiona as a woman and Frank as a man. In terms of speaking roles, the episode focuses heavily on Fiona's struggles, but the male characters, including Lip and Frank, contribute significantly to the main storyline. The show occasionally relies on stereotypes, such as Frank's attempt to match Debbie based on economic stability.
Sexuality is not explicitly highlighted in this episode, as the primary focus is on the family's financial struggles. However, the show, in general, explores diverse sexualities, as seen in earlier seasons with Ian's character and his battle with bipolar disorder.
The episode indirectly addresses political issues related to socioeconomic struggles, gender disparities, and racial dynamics. Fiona's pursuit of economic independence reflects broader discussions on gender inequalities, while the racialized consequences of gentrification contribute to a broader understanding of class dynamics in urban environments. Overall, "Shameless" intertwines personal struggles with broader societal issues, providing a complex portrayal of a working-class family facing multifaceted challenges.
Shameless Season 6, Episode 6, “NSFW” review
Charlotte Nelson
November 2023
In this episode of Shameless we find the Gallagher siblings navigating their lives after losing the home all of them grew up in. As Fiona does everything in her power to get the house back, Lip faces a disciplinary board after his affair with his professor becomes extremely public. Ian begins to pursue Caleb, a local firefighter. A still pregnant Debbie, finds refuge at the house she is nannying for and is encouraged to throw a gender-reveal party. Carl, who's fresh out of juvie and still dealing drugs, affords himself a hotel room. Liam stays with Fiona at her boyfriend Seans apartment.
Shameless, though including some diversity, is thoroughly lacking in racial representation that doesn't abide stereotypes surrounding different races. There have been times in which issues of racism are addressed and highlighted as a prevailing issue, however this does not dismiss the show's own use of stereotypical characterizations. Yes, Fiona's best friend Veronica is a black woman, but she is often depicted as loud, angry, hypersexual, and lacking maternal instincts. Carl's friend, Nick, who only appears in this season is a black man who is portrayed as rash, uncommunicative, and violent. This episode specifically concludes with Nick being arrested (again) after killing a kid over a stolen bike. Furthermore in this episode, there are child refugees from Myanmar who know how to handle guns, and are categorized as “pants-shittingly scary”(0:38:49 ). White characters obviously face no discrimination based on their race, however their socioeconomic status furthers the notion that they are “white trash”, which I will expand on later.
This episode had no representation of non-binary, transgender, or a-gendered characters. While the exclusivity is unfortunate, it's pleasantly surprising that there hasn't been distasteful jokes towards these people, considering the dark-comedic nature of the show. In regards to the male and female characters, there is a seemingly good split as to who is on-screen and talking. With the multitude of individual storylines to follow, the show thoroughly covers each. Because of their unique circumstances the applications of gender roles only apply somewhat to characters. Fiona, for example, takes on both stereotypically male and female roles. She took on the maternal role of raising her younger siblings, and did other caregiving tasks such as cleaning, grocery shopping, and overall management of the kids. Simultaneously she took on being the main source of income so as to pay the bills. In this episode specifically, she is burdened with the responsibility of getting the Gallagher house back, all while working at her diner job and taking care of the youngest brother, Liam. Other examples of defying stereotypes would be Veronica and Kevin, who sort of swapped traditional gender roles. Kevin took better care of their new-born twins than did Veronica and so he became a semi-stay at home dad, while she ran their business.
Sexuality, in both a sexual-orientation and literal way is discussed pretty openly in Shameless. Ian, the third oldest, came out early on in the series as gay. Interestingly, Ian of all characters is the one who inherited their bisexual mothers bi-polar disorder. While this could simply be coincidence, there seems to be some underlying implications that the sparse LGBTQ+ representatives have the same mental disorder… In this episode, he goes on a date with his new love interest, Caleb. The two are shown kissing during their second date. While this isn't true for every episode, this was the only physically intimate scene in this one. Sex itself is openly explored throughout every season. In this episode, Debbie is encouraged by Frank (the Gallahgers alcoholic father) to perform sexual acts for Erika, the woman shes nannying for. Frank states that now that Erika is in remission for her cancer, they will not need Debbie to nanny anymore, so she must find another way to stay. Their storyline concludes with Debbie laying down next to Erika. Whether or not they did anything sexual is unclear. Meanwhile, Lip is placed in front of a faculty disciplinary board to defend the professor with whom he was having sex. Lip is portrayed as sort of emotionally detached, but this is the first relationship where he admits to loving someone- and not just in it for the sex. While it isn't uncommon to see multiple sex scenes in a single episode, there were none in this one.
The Gallaghers themselves are a stereotype - a large, poor, irish family, with an alcoholic father- so it's no surprise that the show is swimming in stereotypical depictions. As I previously mentioned, the Gallaghers class and race places them in what has been previously referred to as “white trash”. Caleb even says to Ian, “Okay so you're a street rat; A brawler.” (0:22:51) when Ian shares that he's from the southside. Keeping these notions in mind, we see the following stereotypes in this episode: Poor people as alcoholics/drug addicts, such as Frank and Monica; As drug dealers such as Carl and Nick; As pregnant teens such as Debbie; As moochers such as Ian; As absent parents Frank and Monica; And as immoral people such as Fiona. These depictions exist beyond this episode and more appear the longer you watch.
Shameless indirectly comments on many political issues. Most apparent in this episode are abortion and gentrification. Debbie and Fiona found out that they were pregnant at the same time. Both of them are no longer with the father of their babies and neither of them are financially available for parenthood. The key differences are that Debbie is a teen, and is keeping her baby and Fiona is an adult and is getting an abortion. They both have strong negative feelings about the other's decision and this causes a huge divide between them. Debbie, who grew up babysitting neighborhood kids for extra cash, is desperate and excited to be a mother whereas Fiona, who raised and paid for her siblings, is not ready. This tension shows alternative opinions on abortion and how influential it can be in one's perception of someone else. After Fiona got her abortion, Sean emphasizes the importance of recovering physically and emotionally and ensures that Fiona is okay after the fact. The second topic indirectly mentioned is gentrification. The whole reason that Fiona can't get the house back is because they were out-bought by a wealthier couple, looking to fix-up their house. After the inspector reveals all of the safety and structural issues of the house, the couple no longer wants it. Though the Gallaghers are willing to take the house as-is, Fiona is forced to take out a loan. When that is not enough, Carl digs up drug money and gives it to Fiona to get their house back.
Shameless Season 5, episode 3: “The Two Lisas”
Avery Connell
November 2023
This episode follows the gentrification of the main characters’ neighborhood as perpetuated by a lesbian couple, showing Gallagher family patriarch Frank attempting to scare off the two both named Lisa who are buying up property in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Debbie, feeling insecure of her womanhood, throws a wild party and loses her virginity by accidentally raping one of her friends. Fiona agrees to go to a concert with a guy and discovers he has a girlfriend, Carl discovers a hidden talent and Ian goes on a crazed cleaning spree and asks Lip to help convince his ex-girlfriend Mandy not to move to Indiana with her abusive boyfriend. The themes of this episode strongly connect to what we have learned about intersectionality, gendered expectations, and the socialist feminist ideas about the economic relation to oppression.
The issue of gentrification is tackled satisfactorily in this episode with its portrayal of different examples of effects of it, as well as the reactions and opinions of different characters. In the beginning of the episode we see a blatant example of the negative impacts of gentrification, as a family with three children is forcibly moved out of their home of thirteen years because the bank foreclosed. Over the course of the episode Frank takes a strong stance against these changes, attempting to convince Sheila not to sell her house, and recruiting Carl to run the lesbian realtor couple out of the neighborhood. He tries to get his point across, saying that “the whole neighborhood is doomed”, and “they're tearing up our soil and dropping in flower gardens and yoga studios, gastropubs and stores for dog clothes.” Many might not see a problem with these additions, however things like this are added in an attempt to make a neighborhood nicer in order to encourage people to want to move there, while the people who are already living there aren't necessarily doing so because they want to but because they can't afford anything else. When the neighborhood is made more desirable, others are willing to pay more to live there than the people of lower classes who are already there can afford, so they are kicked out of their homes. Opposing views to this are shown in the dialogues as well, such as in characters like Fiona, who says, “That could be a good thing. A way for us to get out of the hood without leaving.” This stance shows how people can be complicit in these issues which hurt others, for their own benefit. Though the realtors are taking advantage of others and kicking them out of their homes, Fiona does not care as long she is able to keep hers.
Another issue that is touched on in this episode is casual racism. During the episode we’re shown an interaction between Lip and his boss in which Lip asks if they get extra pay for working holidays and his boss replies that they don’t get extra pay for any of the holidays, “And definitely not the one for the blacks”. He then continues to tell Lip that if he’s looking for workers comp, “the comp stands for competition from the Mexicans who all want [his] job.” This scene exemplifies the common culture in workplaces allowing these offensive comments. Due to this culture, Lip’s boss sees nothing wrong with making these comments, and because he has the power in the situation, individuals such as Lip become enablers for fear of losing their job. This exposes a common sort of cycle: because the boss has power, workers ignore his comments and attitudes, but because they ignore it, he keeps this power and no change ever occurs.
A final issue that is tackled in this episode is that of gender identity in relation to sex and virginity. One of the plotlines of the episode follows Debbie struggling with her womanhood after she is not invited to a party because she is a virgin. She decides to throw her own party at which she has intercourse with an older guy who is too drunk to consent. The next morning she goes onto her porch and yells, “I AM A WOMAN”. This is a display of how young girls are affected by the societal expectations and pressures on women surrounding sex. Debbie took drastic measures in an attempt to make her feel secure in her womanhood and only felt worthy of the title of “woman” once she was no longer a virgin. Further, this occurrence explores the expectation that all men enjoy sex all of the time, and the idea that a man can not be raped. Debbie confides in her brother about the issue saying, “I thought he would like it. I thought all guys do.” This experience, born of Debbie’s insecurities due to gendered expectations relating to sex, in addition exposes those expectations faced by men. Toxic masculinity dictates that men always want sex, however this is not always the truth, and it is men’s right as well as women’s to be asked for consent before engaging in any sexual activity.
Overall, this episode is sufficient in its presentation of gender, race, and class dynamics. The overarching plot of this episode successfully conveys many facets of gentrification, as well as shows how the problem appears in everyday life, however it does not go very in depth on the negative impacts. The depiction of Lip’s interaction with his boss succeeds in highlighting a very present issue, as well as displaying workplace dynamics, however it is very brief and the problem is not explored thoroughly. Debbie’s struggles with her womanhood in relation to sex, and subsequently her understanding of men giving consent, satisfactorily depicts problems that women as well as men face due to societal expectations, however shows only a small piece of it. In terms of representation, the episode succeeds in showing sexualities other than heterosexual, with two main characters, Ian and Mickey being a gay couple, the realtors that the episode is named after, Lisa and Lisa, being a lesbian couple, and a side plot of Fiona being romantically pursued by a rich woman. The episode is also partially successful in its gender representation, as male and female characters have equal screen time, however there are no non-binary or agender characters. Finally, the episode fails in its representation of different races, as there are only three characters of color shown in the episode, and they are only seen briefly. To conclude, this episode of Shameless adequately demonstrates topics relating to gender, race, and class issues.

Debbie Gallagher is a better character than most fans give her credit for, the writers had a massive hate on for her even when writing in some really great nuance for her (specifically s11), not to mention that many, many characters on the show have done worse things than she did and are still seen as "so funny!" and lauded for their actions against Debbie, she's still one of the best characters in spite of the writers' attempts to slander her and write her off as a total bitch. I will defend Debbie, I will die on this hill, haters need to check themselves, and if you don't like Debbie maybe you should reevaluate your own biases towards female characters and think about why exactly it is that you hate her and if it's just because everyone else says she's a cunt or if you actually dislike her actions.
If you say you don't like her because of the rape behaviors, a) understanding the context of the environment she grew up in and the issues of consent (or lack thereof) that she was raised to understand is critical, b) she was an actual child whose brain was not developed enough to understand her actions, and c) 90% of the characters on this show are rapists and yet I still see nearly all of them being seen as favorites of many, many people who hate on Debbie for the exact same thing.
Debbie Gallagher has done many things wrong in her life. She is not a perfect person or a perfect character, and that is okay. But understanding her is important, she is a nuanced individual, a girl whose life and environment basically had set her up to fail from the start but who still managed to carve out a decent existence for herself, and who fought tooth and nail to do everything in her power to take care of and raise her daughter well. Which she did!!!
In conclusion, Debbie doesn't deserve the hate she gets, and no one can convince me otherwise. Thank you, good night.

WIP Wednesday Tuesday! I just wanna share a snippet from the sebbie fic I'm working on. @m4ndysk4nkovich @holymurdock we need more femslash h/c agreed?
The evening started off quiet enough. Debbie had just put Franny to bed after a few bedtime stories, Ian and Mickey were having a quiet night on the couch—Ian had had a stressful day, which he'd mentioned a little of at dinner, and he was currently resting his head in Mickey's lap while they watched some old reruns of their favorite true crime shows. Ever since Ian had gotten his EMT job back, he'd been working himself into the ground trying to prove he deserved the second chance. Carl had gotten moved to night shift for a while, and Liam had finished his homework and gone to bed already. All things considered, Debbie was relieved that he was the one Gallagher they didn't have to worry about.
With a sigh, Debbie fell back on her bed and closed her eyes. It'd been a long, long day, and she just wanted five minutes to rest before she went and took a shower. Then there were footsteps on the stairs, and Debbie half expected to hear Ian and Mickey in the hallway when the door to her room opened and Sandy stood in the doorway, her face bloody and her jacket ripped in several places.
“Holy shit, what happened-?” Debbie started to ask, barely keeping her voice down so she wouldn't wake up Franny. Sandy shook her head; she didn't meet her eyes, only gesturing to Debbie to follow her out. After she closed the door behind her, Sandy sighed and rested her head on Debbie's shoulder.
“I…didn't wanna go back to the Milkovich house,” Sandy finally said, her voice low. She almost sounded…afraid. “I hope that's okay.”
Debbie nodded, hugging her girlfriend gingerly. “Yeah—yeah, no, that's fine. Let's go get you cleaned up.” She led her towards the bathroom, making sure to grab the first aid kit from the hall closet. Sandy sat on the small stool that they kept for Franny to reach the sink while Debbie put the toilet seat down so she could sit and tend to the injuries. With some peroxide on a cotton ball, she dabbed at the cuts on Sandy's face, shaking her head when Sandy flinched away. “Stop, we gotta make sure these don't get infected.”
“It's fine, I've had worse.”
But Debbie knew that Sandy was being too quiet—for her, anyway—which meant that the pain was worse than she wanted to let on. Instead she let Debbie clean up the cuts and scrapes, wincing at the peroxide on the open wounds. They both stayed silent as she worked. Once she was done, Debbie closed the bathroom door, then turned around and got the water running in the shower. “Here, hop in—I'll get some clean clothes for you.”
Sandy gave Debbie an unreadable look, but finally nodded and gingerly peeled her clothes off piece by piece until she stood naked in the middle of the bathroom, her clothing in a pile around her feet. Debbie caught Sandy's face in her hands and kissed her gently. “I'll be back in a second, okay?”

#am i the asshole because i don't think lip was too harsh at all lmao#bc you know what? she WAS being a shitty mom#and she's /never/ listened when she's been called out in the past so she needed a wake up call#it's no one's responsibility but hers to make sure her child gets to school safely#and yeah the morning was chaotic and it's an honest mistake but liam also insinuates he's been left with making sure franny gets to school#plenty of times before#and beyond that: she was being a shitty sister too blaming LIAM for franny being left with frank#askjdfh he's literally eleven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#(and i'm not even gonna get into how he's Still not being taken care of properly bc that's a separate post)#but o m g#you know what bothers me most w debbie is that she's never actually grown out of her annoying teenage phase#like i couldn't stand carl during the gang storyline#as in i genuinely hated every scene he was in#but then he had that amazing scene with v and went with sean to quit and he fucking became a better person#but she's still acting the same way she did when she was fifteen and fighting fiona every step of the way#and i think it would be so fucking interesting if they decided to explore how she's trying to live her childhood vicariously through franny#now because it would parallel so well with her constantly trying to construct her own perfect idea of a family as a child#(with sheila and their fake aunt and taking the baby and monica)#and the fact she keeps saying everything is always about franny and she wants it to be about her#it would be really great to see how she grew up too quickly but sort of in a different way to lip and ian in that she still has a very#childish attitude towards things???#idk i just think it would be neat and also redeem her a lot?#it won't happen but i can dream lol

Friends don't kiss friends. part 1
You and Carl have been best friends since childhood, when you were still terribly messy kids. You practically grew up at the Gallagher's, you were next-door neighbors, and when you weren't there, you were at Alibi's with your parents, Veronica and Kevin. You were with him at all times, at least the most important ones. And some it was you who made them come true, like his first French kiss behind school.
You were the first one Carl liked, that's why you were such friends, he really liked you a lot. You were the first one who aroused something in him, sexual or not. And for that, you were the one chosen for his first kiss, his first dance performance at school, the first one he ran to with a can of vegetables with a hundred thousand dollars in it, and you buried yourself in some wild terror. Your favorite weapon was delivered to you in the school bathroom. And the first woman, except Fiona, who saw him when she got back from juvie.
You guys had some disagreements when he came back saying he was black and forcing a ridiculous black accent, acting like a sick gangster. The braids in his hair almost made you kill him. His mother scolded him immediately. He was someone else, not the Carl you knew but who knew he was there, somewhere, but he was. But you couldn't stay away from him long, and within two weeks you were talking normally.
Or the first person he asked for love advice when he started to have feelings for Dominic, he did everything for her, but unfortunately it wasn't enough. She betrayed him and contracted gonorrhea, the sages say: karma is like a kick in the ass. You were the one who took him in, and then went with him to take a test, where he discovered that he didn't have the disease, and the certainty that she betrayed him.
You were the first one he ever told about his shitty parents, not that you didn't know, you lived with him. But it went deeper, he told you how he felt about Monia's death and how he felt like a failure for years, especially after what happened to G-Dog, but you brought him back to who he always was.
And shit, those damn words almost made you choke on the beer you were drinking. "Back to life," what did he mean by that? What were you to him anyway? That was a question you didn't mean to ask. You two have always been best friends, both of you have always prioritized friendship above anything else, you didn't want to risk it and end up losing your love.
You were at his house now, lying on his couch missing him. It's been almost five days since you've seen each other, even though you lived within meters of each other. "Hey Mom. I'm going to Gallagher's!" you yell, she yells back saying it's okay and that she's going to be on Alibi. You leave the house wrapping your headset around your cell phone, shoving your hands in your sweatshirt pocket.
You look around and see no cars, it was a cloudy and relatively cold day. You walk down the sidewalk taking the few steps to Gallagher's house, and surprisingly you still haven't heard any screams, groans or anything breaking. You jump the playpen at the house, sell a Frank passed out - or not, sleeping or dead on one of the stairs. You ignore that old junkie shit and head upstairs ringing the doorbell.
The door is almost always open, but you don't think it's polite to walk in without knocking, especially not to find someone fucking on the couch or in the kitchen. The door is quickly opened by Lip, who has wide blue eyes, but he relaxes as he recognizes you. "Fuck, I thought it was the social worker." she whispers in relief "Hey girl. What are you doing here?" he asks giving you space to enter, so you do.
"I came to torment C-Dog." you say smiling, he laughs with a cigarette stuck to his lips. "Right." he sits on the sofa. "Where are the rest of the staff? This house is insanely quiet and it makes me wonder if no one is drugged or dead." you say, Lip laughs puffing out his cigarette. "No, no. Debbies is out with Franny, Fiona is at the diner, Ian is probably fucking some gay guy and Liam is in school."
"Uh…I thought things between Ian and Mickey were serious." you talk, Lip shrugs. "They're coming and going because of their bipolarity." "Got it. I'm going up." you say starting up the living room stairs, Lip nods turning on the television. You walk down the hall really seeing the empty rooms, you go to Carl's and give a few rings, nobody comes to open it and you don't hear anything.
Then, slowly you pull the doorknob covering his eyes, an immediate action upon entering his room since you found out he slept naked sometimes. You enter the room one finger at a time until you are sure there is no one in the room. "Y/N?" a hoarse voice comes from behind you, and you jump in fright. "Oh shit Carl. You scared me!" you gasp putting your hand on your chest, he laughs walking into the room.
He rummages through your clothes thrown across the bed so you don't know which ones are dirty or clean, and just then you notice a white towel drapes around your hips. Leaving his luscious abs showing, it was a fact that Gallagher came back a hundred times hotter from jail, you'd admit that yourself.
You grab a random playboy magazine from under his bed, throwing his body on the bed you cross your legs opening the magazine as he changes. Even though you've seen each other almost naked a few times, or else in your underwear and panties and bra several times, you respected your privacy. You flip through the pages of magazines, naked women posing or wearing costumes.
"Wow, that's hot." you say smiling, Carl looks at you without understanding. You turn the magazine over to him "Oh, she is." you notice that he has his legs covered by sweatpants, my biceps are still uncovered. You return to the magazine, pushing away any inappropriate thoughts. "I'm dressed. What are you doing here?" he asks sitting next to her on the bed. "I was bored and I have a best friend living next door to me so…" he laughs, pinching her ear. "I understand. What do you want to do?"
"I don't know, man. We can do whatever you want but I'm honestly really hungry so I'd like to stop by Paty's first." you say closing the magazine. "Right." he smiles, you roll your eyes around his extremely disorganized room. "God, Carl. Did you know Fi has a laundry basket in the hallway? Or you could start washing them then." you turn up your nose when you smell one of his shirts.
"Ah... mind your own business girl!" he exclaims smiling and ruffling your hair, you shake your head. "Fuck, let's go to Paty's before I end up eating you." you sigh, feeling a knot in your stomach, Carl looks at you slyly "Oh no! Shit no! Carl fuck you!" you exclaim, closing your eyes tightly, denying it, but - I would like to - was what crossed your mind.
"Wow, ok. I thought you thought I was super hot and all..." he laments pretending to be offended, putting his hand to his chest. "Oh yes- yes you are. I just-" You can't find the words, he laughs with his total fishy face, not even able to think. "I understood. I'm just playing with you. Come on babe." he says laughing and pulling your shoulders to walk with him, you laugh but you're still extremely embarrassed by it.
"Hey, Ian!" Carl walks past him, Ian ruffles his hair. "Hi guys, and hi Y/N. I haven't seen you in like a week?" Ian says it more like a question, you nod. "And Kevin, have you recovered from your vasectomy?" "Yeah, I had to take some time off after I saw Frank fuck a homeless girl in the kitchen." Ian laughs loudly, throwing his head back in the chair. "I swear, it was 'fucking traumatizing!' you laugh along with him, Carl laughs at both of you. "Where are you going?" Ian asks with a beer in his hand. "Paty's, and then some Chicago alley." Carl responds. "beauty." Lip goes upstairs.
Carl walks to the front door, you stop him. "I think we'd better go around the back. There's a Frank passed out in your driveway." you say sarcastically, Carl rolls his eyes. "Fuck that old man." he says walking to the kitchen door, you follow him with a smile on your face.
You walk in front of your house, the truck is still in the driveway. "Do your parents really let you drive?" Carl asks as you turn the keys in the door. "Hm, no. Ve says I might get hurt, but Kev doesn't care. He thinks it's radical!" you say excitedly, Carl smirks at you.
"Too badass. I drive Fiona's car sometimes, it's nice." he comments, you two get in the car sitting on the seats. "Yes, it is. When I get my license, I'm going out at dawn with you to all the car races." you say smiling, which makes Carl smile as he remembers the things you guys did to make it to the city limits for the damn clandestine races. "Uh, great. I really don't want to have to bike to the end of Chicago."
"Right, right." you chuckle at it "Just a year to go or maybe two..." "Sixteen is the new seventeen." he says, you nod turning on the radio. "Birthday Sex" blasts through the loudspeakers, you and Carl singing the lyrics perfectly as if you were at a live show. In fifteen minutes you were already in Paty's, you park the car just before the entrance to the store. Carl walks out the door normally and you jump out of the truck, the two of you enter the diner.
You move to one of the tables facing the street, Carl follows you and you sit opposite each other. A knowledgeable attendant comes to you. "Hey guys, can I take your order?" she asks smiling, you take a good look at the menu even though you know it like the back of her hand. "Hey fely! An x-bacon with double fries and a coke. Please" Carl says, Felicity writes it down on paper. "What about you, Y/N? The same as always?" she asks still with a smile on her face, you think for a moment. "Hm... Same as him. And pancakes. With honey, lots of whipped cream and strawberries. Please." she notes. "Yes, someone had come to serve them." "Thanks." you both say thanks, she leaves to take more orders.
You two look at each other but don't say anything. You start snapping your fingers. "So…what have you been doing?" Carl asks breaking the silence. "The usual. Taking care of the bar, the twins, studying and sleeping. No big deal." you shrug your shoulders. "And have you been seeing anyone? Like a hookup?" you shake your head "No. Nobody. And you?" "Nobody either. But I like a girl." he says low, you're a little surprised. "Oh good Carl. Who is it?" "A girl over there, you don't know..." "Okay. Can you tell me about her?"
"Well, she's quite outgoing. She likes games and has questionable taste in music. She loves riding her old skateboard." he tells you the details, you laugh at the last remark. " She's a good girl so then. I'm happy for you, asshole." you run your hands through his hair, ruffling his strands. "Yeah, she is. She's pretty pretty too, like, awesome." You nod, seeing one of the waiters come with their orders. He puts it on the table, you thank him with smiles. You quickly pick up your burger and bring it to your mouth, taking a big bite.
The incredible taste of the fried bancon, the melted cheese and the grilled meat had you moaning in satisfaction. "Oh, God. This is fucking better than a blowjob!" you exclaim, Carl raises an eyebrow at you. "Have you ever gotten a blowjob in your life?" "No. But I got blown, and I'm sure I say this is way better." he shakes his head laughing, you notice the little bag of ketchup being poured into his burger, you frown at that sinful act. "Bro, are you really using that red sauce in a x-bacon? That's like a crime in Italy, man." you say taking another bite of yours, Carl throws the empty ketchup bag at you.
"Fuck Italy and its pizzas without ketchup! We're in America." he grumbles, you laugh. "That fucking is a godsend honey, there's no reason not to use it." "Uh, ok. At least you know Italy is not an American country." you mock him, Carl looks at you like you've said the most shocking thing in the world, the boy throws two potato in your face. "Hey you shit! Don't throw that at me." you exclaim, an elderly couple next to you complains about the noise. "Can you guys not scream or throw your cockroaches? Shitty ghetto teenagers. They don't know how to behave anywhere." the old woman mumbles the last sentence.
"I'm sorry gentlemen." you smile falsely at they, looking at Carl who was laughing hysterically. You shoot him a death glare. "Old bastards. I'm going to make these fags eat dust." you claim looking at your delicious pancakes. "But I'll get this over with first" "Yes you will." Cal says still laughing.
You finish quickly and compete with Carl to see who eats the most pancakes in the least amount of time, you obviously win with 7 pancakes in two minutes, but Carl is a good competitor with five. You both laugh when you notice that his lips are full of whipped cream, and so is the tip of his nose. The old people from before complain again, saying that you are noises. "Enough. I'm going to make this old woman hear some truths. Shitty South Zone bitch!" You get up from your desk, reaching into one of the pockets of your shorts, placing some bills on the table.
Carl too, with his wallet in his hands. "I pay." you two say together, laughing then. "Hey big boy, I pay. I brought you here, it's ok but next time it's you." you threaten with your lower finger pointed at him. "Right." "Now C-Dog, stand there and watch me fuck these old men." you tell him you're close to the exit. "Oh, go for it girl." he whispers to you, who gestures with your hands to him following you to the elderly couple's table.
"Hey good afternoon." you smile sympathetically sitting next to them. "What you want?" the woman asks arrogantly, looking you up and down. "Ah...no big deal. It's just that I actually heard you complain about me and the boy with me, I had to come here." you say sadist, eating a potato of them. "So what, girl?" She rolls her eyes. "It's just that I was a little hurt, you know? I thought you were pretty, that's fine for such an old age. But then you opened your little shit mouth, saying really prejudiced things. And I thought, I should punch some respect in this bitch." you wink at her, the lady looks at you with a hateful expression. "So, here's my darling lesson."
You pick up your glass of soda, you take a few sips, and then you spit the drink back into the glass. You smile at her before slowly pouring the coke under her head. She starts screaming getting the attention of customers calling you a ghetto rat. "Go back to the south side, motherfucker!" you exclaim, spitting in your food, standing up and feeling Carl proud stares at you. Fiona comes up to you, you think she's going to scold you but you're surprised when she applauds you. "Aren't you angry? Those customers with money never came back here." she denies smiling. "No, really. You did me a damn favor, I hate those old men, they always come here and complain about the food or my people."
"Oh, that's great then!" you smile, she nods throwing a cloth over her shoulders. "We left the money on the table, Bye Fi!" Carl yells opening the front door, she yells back an "ok" you walk out of there with you feeling insanely good. "Girl, I fucking worship you! You fucked with them." Carl exclaims jumping up and down, you laugh at him. "It's no big deal. It was deserved." you get in the car, and you start it. "Certainly." he says putting on his seat belt.
You start the pickup. Carl doesn't stop looking at you for a second, especially his hair flying in the wind invading the car through the windows. He's totally mesmerized by you, and seeing you defend him in a way has only made him more in love with you than he is. He was sure you were an amazing woman when you told him you faced men who were harassing you, but he was even more sure now, seeing your enviable posture up close.
That was the thing you loved most about Carl and that he admired most about you. You two wouldn't let anyone say shit about you, or whoever was important to you. It could be the biggest truth in the world, but the Gallagher's don't let anything go unnoticed. You had a trust that he sincerely always wanted to have for him, Carl was always a bully, stealing food and hitting some carusos when necessary. But you did even worse as a kid, and it's not something you're proud of, but you were just a kid angry about not being adopted.
And when Kevin and Veronica adopted you and welcomed you into their home, things changed, but there are things that don't change. "Where you want to go?" you ask, Carl blinks a few times. "I don't know... maybe in that abandoned terrano of the Díaz's? I heard that there are some people from our school going there to smoke and skip class."
"So that's where we're going, bro." you turn the car around the corner, turning onto the avenue. "Do you have cigarettes there? My dad never leaves them in the car because of the twins." he nods pulling a box out of his pants pocket. "Here." he hands you a pack, you hold it to your lips, Carl takes your lit lighter to the end of his cigarette, lighting it, you thank him.

I also haven't seen the whole series YET, but I searched the whole Internet so I hope this is accurate, even tho I changed a bit the request to be a few years after the last season bc our boy Carl was 19 at the last season and, well... keep reading. Not proofread, tho. Enjoy! - Thema.
She doesn’t really know how or why she fell for him. It made absolutely no sense. Really. No sense at all. I could sound a bit rude, but in the end it was kinda true.
---
They had met when they were 14. He was fresh out of juvie, with his “White Boy Carl” shit that she found absolutely stupid. He wasn’t a big fan of her. Carl used to say that “she’s just a chick who thinks she’s better than anyone just because she’s fucking perfect”. They were 14 and despised each other.
---
But at 15, poor Carl and poor y/n got paired for a project. At that project, they discovered that they worked pretty well together. They became very good friends and basically each other’s confident. Their friendship was a safe space. One night they told each other everything they thought the other needed to know.
Carl told her about his huge family and all of the shit he had with his father. He told her about juvie and explained to her the “White Boy Carl” phase and why and how it ended. He told her his problems with Dominique and all the shit he had gone through those past years.
Y/n told him about all her problems, all her dreams, her ambitions, her family, her friends. Carl listened to her, mesmerized. He fell in love harder that night than ever.
After going out together a few times and Carl asking for advice to almost his entire family (he asked Lip, Fiona, Debbie and even Ian) he kissed her. It was nothing too big for any of them individually, but it felt like the best kiss of their lives anyways.
They started dating that week and never let go of each other. They were attached by the hip. He was sweet and caring with her and all of his siblings catched him daydreaming about her more than once.
After a few months dating, Carl thought it was moment for his family to meet y/n. He had met y/n parents a few weeks before and they adored him. His family was a mess, so that was kinda the final test for y/n. But all of his siblings were absolutely enchanted by her, just like him, and loved her instantly. She especially got along with Ian and Liam, and shared Fiona’s efforts for Carl’s wellbeing.
When Monica died, y/n was the one who had to tell Carl. She was of course invited to the funeral. She could swear she had never attended a funeral so… special. They laughed, danced and enjoyed their time together as a family in a weird way. After Carl went with Frank, he immediately went with y/n. They promised to be each other's anchors that day.
When Carl went to military school, Carl’s family supported y/n, and vice versa. She hung out with Lip and Ian sometimes; she went with Liam to the park, or the cinema, or wherever he wanted to go; helped with the groceries or the cleaning or whatever they needed; she helped with Frank kicking him out of the house when necessary; and she had diner with the Gallaghers, Kev, V and the twins, who she also babysat sometimes.
---
Fast forward to when they were 18. They both graduated and they also celebrated the fact that they had been together for 3 years, and, in Carl’s words, “that’s like 10 years for a Gallagher in a relationship”. So they decided to take the next step. He searched for a job while she started studying Periodism, which was her dream since she was little. They determined that they were going to live together. Since they had no money, they started living together at the Gallagher’s house. She also started working and tried to get as much money as she could to the household, but the biggest help she offered was helping with all the kids. She spent whole nights helping Liam with school, she played with Kev and V’s twins and she also took care of Franny and Freddie when needed. She actually didn't care at all, as she loved being with kids and was actually pretty good at it.
The change was probably the hardest challenge of their relationship. They fought, and they screamed. They said very ugly things about each other.
“I don’t need you here if you’re just going to be an ungrateful bitch” he said to her during one of their arguments.
“I won’t stay either if you think I’m just an ungrateful bitch. You know very well that I do everything, EVERYTHING I can do to help your fucking family and you’re here all mighty telling me what? That I don’t do shit? After helping Liam with a project until 2 am last night? After having changed more diapers than the rest of this family? After giving every fucking penny I gain to YOUR family? Are you seriously in any position to say anything to me?” She replied with silent tears running down her face.
“…I’m sorry” He said after a few long seconds of silence. He got close to her and hugged her stronger than ever. They cried together promising each other never arguing like that again.
---
After a lot of effort and a VERY big amount of fights, kisses and a lot of shared love, Carl and y/n were attending Ian and Mickey’s wedding. They both cried during the whole thing, and they truly thought that they had the best brother-in-law in the world. They smiled until their cheeks hurted and Carl knew at that moment that the woman that was hugging his brother and husband with more strength than she had ever shown was going to be by his side forever.
---
2020 was a very challenging year for everyone. But it was also one of the happiest for the pair. Carl started at the police academy and became a cop. Y/n said after the ceremony “who would’ve guessed that” and he realized that he was the luckiest man alive for being able to keep her by his side all of those years.
2020 was also the year that they decided to move out of the family house. They loved all the Gallaghers, but they definitely needed a place just for them. They found a shitty flat very cheap and made it their home.
While y/n kept studying, Carl planned proposing to her. He had been saving for a while, and he had enough money to buy her a decent ring.
He proposed in August, not wanting to wait anymore. He got on one knee while they were at the roof of the building, where he had put lights and made everything perfect just for her. She was shocked and lasted a while in answering, a thing that scared Carl out of his mind. He knew that they were only 19 and she maybe wanted to be legally single for a few more years. But then she smiled as brightly as the sun and said yes.
---
Their wedding was a very little event when they were 20. Only family. Unlike at Ian's wedding, Fiona did attend. Y/n looked beautiful and Carl felt like he was getting married to an angel. Everything was very cheap and intimate, but they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
---
After little more than one year of being married, y/n discovered a very big thing. She was pregnant and very. She couldn’t understand how she had missed the signs. She was almost 2 months and a half pregnant, or so had the doctor said.
She immediately went to see Ian and Mickey after her appointment, wanting to see someone of her husband’s family without her husband knowing anything about the pregnancy. She was scared out of her mind, not knowing if Carl would want the kid. She knew that he would want them, having said that he wanted to have a family with her.
But, what if he didn’t want them now? Or what if they couldn’t? They didn’t have that much money. Or maybe they weren’t prepared. Was she prepared to have kids with Carl?
Ian and Mickey advised her that she had to tell him. So y/n started preparing how she would tell him.
She wanted to proceed carefully, so she didn’t do anything big. Enough for him to be surprised but not as much for him to feel pressured.
When he arrived home that night, y/n was about to vomit, or scream, or cry, or something in between.
She got up from the couch and went to greet him with a kiss, like everyday. Carl also made the bad joke he did everyday. “Look what we have here. Is your husband around, hottie?”. She did her routine roll of eyes. She smiled and kissed him again.
“I have a surprise for you” she said, dragging him to the kitchen.
“You do?” he asked.
Y/n felt Carl’s eyes through her whole body. “Not in that way, asshole”.
He laughed defeated. They arrived to the kitchen and y/n handed him a little box. He raised an eyebrow seeing her very nervous, biting her inside cheek.
“You ok?” he asked concerned.
“Open the fucking box, I’m struggling here” she said, now biting her nails.
He decided to open the box to see what had his wife so nervous. The only thing he saw was a pacifier. He didn’t understand at first, looking to y/n and back to the pacifier a few times.
Y/n took a positive pregnancy test off her pocket and placed it on the kitchen counter. Carl then looked at the test, then to her and back to the pacifier.
Anxious, y/n said “do you need me to spell it out for you or are you getting the fucking hints?”.
He smiled a bit looking at his wife again. “Is this true?”
“Of course it is true!” y/n answered, getting impatient.
“This is not a joke, right?” he said with glossy eyes.
“Why on Earth would I make a joke like this one?” she said, getting close to him.
She placed her hands on his cheeks to wipe the tears that were already escaping his eyes.
He finally snapped out of his long trance and wrapped his arms around her waist, raising her a bit from the floor, kissing her entire face and saying “I love you” again and again.
“Carl!” she exclaimed, a bit surprised by the sudden burst of energy.
“Sorry! Sorry! That’s probably not good for the baby, right? I never- Sorry. How far along are you? Can we-” he started rumbling before she stopped him.
“God, you’re going to be an amazing father, aren’t you?” she said, completely amazed by her husband.
“We’re going to be pretty cool parents, that’s true” he said, giggling like a little kid, hugging y/n tight once again, making her laugh heartily.
---
It didn’t matter that they were completely different, or that she didn’t even know how she fell for her.Because in the end, the only thing that mattered was that they loved each other more than they loved anyone in the entire world. Except maybe that little human that was going to change their life forever completely.
A/N: Well, I know this was not exactly what was requested, but I tried my best to stuck to it, with a lot of creative liberty. I hadn't wrote that much on a while, so I don't know how to feel about this. Hope you enjoyed it tho!
All the love, A.
