Saadi tweeted in support of the FSA 🤦🏻♀️
Don't you remember what happened to your country? And what about Hannibal? Don't think the FSA will be any help there (and he was in the same room as the Assads as a child)
He's always been basically a law unto himself but either he's blinded by his hatred for Iran, or living under Erdogan has gotten to his head (also often threatening to sue people over tweets), complete with Elon Musk simping (like Erdogan)... and sometimes I do genuinely wonder if he's very mentally unwell* and it's not being treated, when it should be after all those horrific experiences, including prison experiences
* Then again, this was rumoured even before 2011
#when there were rumours just before the NYT article that Saif had visited Damascus#WTF SAADI#SAADI WTF#Saadi Gaddafi#Libya#Syria#Turkey#Turkiye#Türkiye#WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK SAADI#WHAT WOULD YOUR FATHER SAY?!#also when he even got butthurt at family spokesman Moussa Ibrahim... maybe he is unwell#or maybe he is bisexual and maybe growing up in Libya as a bi kid with a possibly closeted and maybe self-hating bi dad...#OK maybe that's going a bit far but#i'm just really dismayed and shocked by this#how did he go from posting the photo of him with Uncle Hafez as a child to THIS#your father's last speeches were on SYRIAN TELEVISION#sometimes i also wonder if he says shocking things just for clicks#Moussa Ibrahim posted a photo of Assad on his FB story on Eid al-Fitr this year#Saadi stop simping for Italian and American politicians i'm afraid those high society days are over#maybe therapy is needed for acceptance and moving on#also he probably needs to find his own thing like Aisha#especially now his book is finished#i might not bother buying it now#Moussa Ibrahim posted about Syria and let's just say it's very different from Saadi#he even paraphrased Assad in the last sentence - whether that was intentional...

They Find Your Toys [PART B] - HEADCANON
A/N: Without my laywer I won't say anything... WARNINGS: NSFW-ish. Some use of explicit words and scenarios. Nothing hardcore. F!Reader SUMMARY: Self-explanatory. Their reaction when they find your toys. [Established relationship]. INCLUDES: ☆ Choso, Gojo, Geto, Shoko, Nanami, Toji, Utahime, Yaga, Ijichi ☆ → PART A
CHOSO… For being the oldest in the entire bunch this 150 year old half curse has no idea what this palm sized thing is. Even the round opening with something that vaguely resembles a tongue gives him no clue. Being born out of the necessity of the evil guys didn’t really grant him much free time, or even a lot of access to the internet. He doesn’t even have a phone. He’s completely dumbfounded. Count on him to take your toy to Yuji and ask him for advice. After all it could be something medical, what if you were sick and this is part of your treatment? He doesn’t want to imagine you hiding something grave like a disease from him. Once Yuji turns into an embarrassed tomato in front of him Choso would realise that maybe this is something of the more private nature. Yuji would only stammer that he needs to talk to you directly about it, probably yelling at him to never ever come with something like that to him. The intimate adult toy of his half-curse brother’s girlfriend? Must like “How awkward do you want it to be? Yes.”
Either way, he’ll act according to Yuji’s advice and ask you straight up about it. He has to refrain from mentioning that your face turned the same shade as Yuji, he feels that if he confessed that Yuji knew about it as well you might get mad at him. And since he doesn’t mention it you sort of regain yourself quickly, explaining to him what exactly it is and how it’s used. If you think he’s weirded out, no. He’s not. He’s more curious than anything. He wants to learn, he wants to know what gets you going and what makes you lose your mind. He wants to be able to give you the most intense pleasure ever. He’s so willing to learn.
SATORU GOJO… Trust this big man child’s ego and pride to be wounded to the core. While he might entertain the fantasy of you using these toys and possibly even pleasure himself while doing so, he’s still butthurt over having a 20cm long battery operated competition. Needless to say, Satoru will immediately hide your toys, just so he can see you getting more and more frustrated when you can't find them and need that sweet relief. He’d be your hero in shining armour, or rather with an already shining tip. “You look like you could use some relief. I think I could help?”
BONUS: This man right here can be considerate and thoughtful at times. One of the times when he gets sent on missions, he comes up with an idea. Satoru would get you a whole dildo and toy set shaped after his penis and balls and probably even his abs, just because he’s confident enough for that. If his girlfriend uses a toy, it must at least be a replica of him.
SUGURU GETO… Now for this once I will go with him during his school time. Because if it happens afterwards when he turned his back on ‘monkeys’, then he might genuinely be mad at you for wasting money on ‘monkey’ toys, and letting it anywhere near you. However, his student self would most definitely blush. He’s mature alright, but that doesn’t mean that a teenage boy finding the adult toy of his teenage girlfriend wouldn't be absolutely dumbfounded at the discovery. Especially if your relationship hasn’t gotten physical or intimate yet. He’d subtly put it back where he found it. But if your relationship is already at that level, he’d most definitely bring it up. He’s not insecure in his own skills, and most definitely doesn’t feel threatened by the toy either, but he strives for open communication and better understanding. So he hopes that bringing this up will make you open up about your desires, so that he can help you with your pleasure.
SHOKO IEIRI… Oh gosh, Shoko can be a tease, and she’s big into giving you rules that you need to follow. One of said rules is not to touch yourself. You think you found a grey area when you let a toy touch you? Think again. Shoko is strict, she’d show no mercy when she punishes you for using toys without her permission. But you can’t complain too much when eventually the toy is part of your punishment. After all, no matter how strict she is, Shoko does love to pleasure you and make you scream for her until the neighbours file noise complaints.
KENTO NANAMI… He’s a mature one, therefore it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that maybe he was the one who even bought you the toy. He likes to give you gifts once in a while, it’s one of the many ways he shows love, since vocally he isn’t the most romantic. Romance and mental wellbeing, trust and love are just as important in a relationship as physical pleasure, he acknowledges that and treats you perfectly in every aspect. He might even use the toys during your nights together, making you effectively lose your goddamn mind when he thrusts into you while holding the vibrator in just the right angle to your clit. Kento Nanami knows what he’s doing.
He always. hits. the. spot.
TOJI FUSHIGURO… Toji would not let this slide. The moment he finds your toys it could go one of two ways. His ego would be heavily wounded knowing that you evidently still use your toys even though he’s such a sexy specimen. He’d wait for you to come home and instantly throw you on the bed and have his way with you. He’d pound you in every position and pleasure you until you’d be crying from overstimulation. He wouldn’t stop until you’re close to passing out. Only then he’d look at you with this smug shit-eating grin, telling you “I can’t believe you’d ever use toys when you got me, babe.”
However, there’s a possibility that instead of just having his way with you, he’d use your toys on you, for hours, until you beg for mercy. After which he smugly comments, “See, now that’s how you use toys properly.” Wherein he had a bruised ego at first, now he’s more than happy to keep the toys.
UTAHIME IORI… Considering Utahime operates from Kyoto, since she’s a teacher there, she’d be more than understanding in this situation. After all, when she visits you during the Good Will exchange event and finds your toy she can’t blame you. She’s got few of her own. Long distance is difficult when you don’t see each other, but her unexpected findings also open up new doors. Since now you two can pleasure each other on calls, each of you with your favourite toy while desperately moaning the other’s name until you reach your toe-curling, back-arching and overwhelming climax together.
MASAMICHI YAGA… He’s a little tricky, but in all honesty, he’d be as mature about it as Suguru. He doesn’t feel threatened at all. If he finds your toy during a time where both of you are really stressed and don’t have much time for each other then he might even feel relieved about it, considering it would reassure him that you’re not satisfying your needs elsewhere. No matter how strict and stoic he gives himself, deep within his chest is a soft heart that holds more love than anyone would know. Therefore he’s naturally prone to self doubts. He’s mature enough to bring up the topic, even if it makes you blush when you confess that sometimes when he’s busy you need to relieve your stress. But you can’t miss the smile on his face when you mention that you’re always thinking of him during those moments.
KIYOTAKA IJICHI… If you think for even a second that Ijichi wouldn’t blush to the extent of risking an aneurism you are dead wrong. This man, in all his adult glory, has barely ever had a girlfriend. He’s well aware of toys, he even has one or two toys for the male pleasure, but having a girlfriend that uses toys for her own pleasure? The mere thought of that is sending the blood in his body into two very specific places, mainly his cheeks and his genitals. But he would be entirely too embarrassed to ever bring it up. Even after months or years he would never mention how he found your toy that one day. God help this man, you’ll be the death of him.

In response to the assumption that Lestat never loved Claudia
Whilst there were moments describing that he didn't really care about Claudia, it's not certain but he seemed to think she was in the way, though, this story is told by Louis who is known very well to be a totally unreliable narrator with now Armand who is butthurt about Lestat running off from him as well, whispering in his ear. Likewise, Claudia's diary has multiple pages stripped out, and it's mostly the parts favouring Louis left.
Lestat gifted what was assumed to be a family heirloom, at least in fan theory, (the gorgeous antique necklace) rather than given to him by a marquis as he mentions upon doing so, something you would often gift to your child you ultimately cared for and saw as your child. Though, whoever gave it to Lestat, it was still a special gift.
Lestat taught Claudia a multitude of talents, which Louis would not teach her nor encourage her to do. Piano, chess, hunting to survive (not particularly done by Louis due to his vegetarian vampirism), and Daniel calls out a lot of what Louis has to say was her relationship with Lestat and how he's painting it to be.
Looking toward the time when they conspire to kill Lestat, children can be easily manipulated, not to mention that she has the mind as a young person and there's trials and tribulations we have to go through during puberty, and it's a rather vulnerable time.
He looked regretful when he called her a mistake as well.
I know people so often accuse him of not loving her just because he's telling her off, normally in situations that would literally threaten her life and anonymity, and safety, this drastic opinion and assumption parents don't love their kids if they tell them off during moments that could end up killing them, is really telling of who has got kids and who hasn't ever needed to look after one.
Maybe he loves her, maybe he doesn't, he certainly struggles with her, and it's the age old tale of one parent being jealous of the other, or feeling lonely once having kids as the relationship may because less consistently intimate with less time to spend together, alone. There's things she's done that upsets him. He struggles with her playing them off against each other, but that's what kids often do. It's a survival technique.
It's very clear that he's too messy to be a good parent. He needs a whole lot of therapy, but that doesn't remove someone's capacity to love their kids. He has a lot of love for them.
This isn't related to his unchanging polyamory taking on various lovers, which he was very clear about with Louis, and he'd initially consented to and even done himself.
People look at Lestats behaviour and immediately assume he doesn't care nor has any real love for any of them, but that's so not true. The reality of love and family dynamics aren't as clear-cut as people try to paint them and disqualify more complex expressions of their feelings towards one another.
It is stated that he is forever haunted with the guilt and shame of Claudia's death.
You can see love and hurt and a series of emotions he felt when Louis asked Lestat to make them a baby (in the adaption, though yes, it is an adaption), for them to start a family, that he wanted a kid with Lestat. In that moment, he did, though he says he made her as the ultimate gift for Louis, a daughter, a child, and starting their own family. This is a very raw feeling that people who decide to have kids will often experience. I don't believe he "baby trapped" Louis though, as many keep saying, considering he was worried about the consequences that would happen to her and her future as a child immortal. Seeing how distraught Louis was and empathetic to the potential death of the child, he changed her. He tried to highlight to Louis that in the end, it could do her more harm than dying.
I don't think he never loved Claudia, I may well be wrong, though.

okay but like the wind waker man. that intro. so many questions. we all know ocarina is dark but man wind waker just straight up said "and then they all drowned and the gods never came to help" hello??? how many years. how many decades. how much time did the adult hero of time buy for them? which child of zelda’s was daphnes? her son? grandchild? great-grandchild? when he stared at the rising waters and realized nothing was going to save them, his kingdom, did he think it was retribution for all the war?
has it really been all that long? yes and also no. the lines are so blurred. the zora are birds and the kokiri are koroks and they had time to Get That Way but everywhere you look the old Hyrule, the Hero of Time himself, they're both all over the place. the deku tree is implied to be the sprout from the adult timeline but honestly who knows. the golden goddesses are statues on islands somewhere and there was a tower built to test who came after but…who and how and why? what was the tower of the gods even for? how did they know they’d need it? at what point did they accept the hero of time was never coming back so they’d probably need to train a new one?
and oh my god, that outset island tradition. “dress your kids in green and give ‘em a sword and pray to the gods they’ll have the courage to cast down evil.” link rolls his eyes at it but he wears them to appease grandma. the revered clothes of the hero have had time to pass into “stupid traditional getup” territory. how many “failed Links” were there before Aryll’s brother? what evil could those children have possibly stricken down? the monsters in the woods?
“what became of that kingdom? none remain who know” like goddamn. say what you want about the hero’s shade in twilight princess. but at least the traumatized ghost got to meet one of his descendants and pass on his songs and his knowledge, even if that knowledge was only of war and death and combat. in the wind waker he’s a statue. an element of a legend mentioned once or twice by the last remaining holdouts of the past—holdouts who so badly want him to return, view him as the solution over all else, that they never pause to consider any other option. there are stained glass windows of the seven sages in the master sword’s chamber that are never mentioned. there is so much that is never mentioned.
nobody knows what the fuck anybody is talking about. link doesn’t know old hylian. tetra is running around the high seas (as a pirate. she and her retainers are now pirates. how did things get that way) with a piece of the damn triforce around her neck and she doesn’t know who ‘princess zelda’ even is. the juxtaposition between ganondorf, older and tired and wiser but still hell-bent on ruling hyrule even if it is a dead land full of nothing and no one, and tetra, a zelda that knows nothing, asking why he’s laughing and calling him insane. because hyrule’s dead. she has no frame of reference for his longing, or what he found so great about this sunken kingdom.
and this is framed as a good thing. the king of red lions thinks it’s better not to let either of the kids in on the loop until tetra nearly dies for lack of knowledge. daphnes nolhansen hyrule brought “the hero” back just to end ganon, and hyrule with him. was the plan always to let the sea fall in on him? maybe. i don’t know. but he rejects zelda’s plea with him to take him with them to the land that will be the new hyrule, because “it will not be hyrule. it will be your land” and that still gets me. he thinks the best thing to do with his kingdom, Hyrule, the kingdom of a whole hell of a lot of irl people’s childhoods, is for it to wash away. he wants the kids to live for the future and they do and they will and they name it hyrule anyway in his honor but he never gets to see it.
anyways i’m still mad everybody got butthurt over “trains in a zelda game” like come on now
#apparently i'm wind waker posting now#zelda thoughts#vaguely inspired by that tp post i saw where it was like “something terrible happened here”#wind waker is the most cheerful post-apocalypse i’ve ever seen#genuinely#because *nobody knows* what happened#a bit meta because wind waker was technically one of my first zelda games and i knew nothing about anything i just knew link was the hero#and then i l e a r n e d#i just really want daphnes and tp zelda to compare notes about their depression#the legend of zelda#lozww#wind waker#the wind waker#tloz#loz#spirit tracks#the legend of zelda the wind waker#triumph forks

I'm watching a turkish telenova rn so that's why I'm requesting this specific thing.
What if teen noah and teen reader got pregnant, but he's like, "I've got a band and no time for a child, get out" and readers being a badass and is like "k, I'm moving back to Europe, raising this child and becoming a lawyer"
So daughters now 20 years old and a rock fan, hence why she goes to the rock am ring festival where bad omens are gonna perfome (she's not a big fan of them, she wants to see the other bands)
Noah spots her in the crowd and is like "yn?" And sends the security to get her backstage. She declines to go backstage bc of the stories of rammstein drugging and abusing their fans and tells the security "yns my mom tho" and boom Noah realizes that's his daughter. At the end of the festival the daughters waiting with her friend for her mom to pick them up when Noah approaches her and is like " i know ur mom" daughters like " prove it i,I don't believe u" so Noah's like " this is her birthday, her middle name is this and yada yada"
(Daughter not knowing that Noah is her das obviously, mom never mentioned any names just that he was trying to make it with his music)
She was like "oh cool, mom used to be friends with bad omens?" So they're talking and boom Mama pulls up and is Hella mad when she sees Noah buuut not because she's butthurt of what he did to her 20 years ago but bc she's mama bear and is like " u were a nobody when u hurt me but now ur a big Rockstar and have more power. So stay away from her"
Noah's obviously still in love with mom and is shook that she thinks that way of him.
Ik specific and long but if u wanna work with this imma love u forever. It could be like dad daughter things, where he realizes even tho she looks exactly like ger mom, they have same interest. Orr the mom and Noah could talk it out and eventually fall back in lovee.
I don't write about having kids, but I gave it a try so I hope you like it💗
Uf I don't think Noah would be like that, but let's get along with that scenario...
I think it would be only fair to the daughter to tell her the truth.
I'm not sure what her reaction would be, but I wouldn't tell her what Noah said in the past, she doesn't need to get hurt too.
So maybe tell her that he wasn't ready to be dad yet so they parted ways and you got back to Europe.
Daughter would listen to both sides, take it all in and make her own opinion.
She wouldn't feel any hate towards any of you, because despite being just 20 years old she's very mature.
But she would want to get to know Noah.
They would exchange numbers and keep in touch as he and the band continue festival season.
After they are back in the states, all three of you have a big call about finding a date when the daughter would come visit Noah in the states and stay with him for like a month.
Daughter attending college makes it easier with her semester starting in October, so you agree on date from middle of August to the end of Semptember.
After the date is set, Noah tells her he wants to talk to you alone for a minute.
You talk about what happened between you two and Noah apologizes.
Through the years all the hate and anger kind of dissapeared.
Mostly because you're proud of yourself for raising your daughter alone and making it on your own.
Noah is proud of you too.
And he would never ask you or your daughter to talk about him like her dad or ask her to call him dad, because he knows he doesn't earn that title yet. He just wants to get to know her.
But what he does is ask if you would want to come too.
And you're surprised.
Of course all of those feelings you had for him flashed through your mind when you saw him again. But also all the pain he put you through with his decision.
But before that happened he was amazing. He was great boyfriend and great person.
The thought about your daughter flying alone scared you, but you know she could make it and then she would be with Noah. And you were 100% sure he would keep her safe.
That's why you didn't mind her flying to the staes even if you and Noah haven't seen each other in 20 years.
But you coming too? That made you scared.
You were scared that you would fall in love with him again.
You made this new country your home, you have great place to live and amazing job.
You can't give that up for someone who left you when you needed him the most.
"Thanks, but no Noah. You know it's not a great idea. I trust you with her, she is adult so I will be supportive of you two getting to know eachother. But I'm not gonna turn my life upside down because of you again. I appreciate your apology, I will stay in touch with you, but please, only because of her."
Even though he asked you to just come to the states for month you knew him and you saw in his eyes what you saw 20 years ago.
Love? Feelings? Call it whatever you want, but you knew how going there with your daughter would end.
And you didn't need your heart broken again.

MIZU x AKEMI x TAKAYOSHI
I except nothing less. Taigen is allowed IF AND ONLY IF he mans the fuck up, doesn’t get butthurt over Mizu and grows.
Akemi and Mizu, if they get a man, need a real man, not a man child clinging to falsities his daddy and master told him. He’s obnoxious. He’s a good, loyal but annoying friend at best as it stands. They’re not compatible romantically/sexually (if memory serves, the flashbacks of nonexistent dick Mikio overlapped w her time w Taigen/some scenes that could be read as romantic, a man who caused her great hurt who made it so she’ll likely need a LOT to be able to be vulnerable w a man ever again), neither is he with Akemi anymore. I’m hoping the overlap was just there to show her starting to think about it or as a weird red herring for his bi/gay awakening. He could get someone else in S2, who knows. As S1 is, they don’t deserve each other. The throuple. Mizu and Akemi as a pair with some more development, but not w him.
Takayoshi, however, has shown that he can be understanding and he should be a trained swordsman. He didn’t seem to mind allowing Akemi to lead and there’s a big hint that she’ll be the “pants wearer” of the relationship going forward. I think Akemi’s moved on from Taigen, maybe not realizing it but has, and Taka also has a pretty significant “fault” being his stutter.
I just see more potential with Taka not Tai.
Having throuple representation would be incredible regardless!
But bringing in a new character for it could also really work. Like a gentle lady Mizu finds in England—oh, that’s an idea…👀👀 no I have enough fanfic wips damnit. She could free someone from a work house or mine!
#blue eye samurai#blue eye samurai ideas#mizu blue eye samurai#akemi blue eye samurai#mizu x akemi#mizu x Akemi x takayoshi#takayoshi#Taigen#ALSO. WHAT IF MIZUAKEMI GOT W THE MIXED SEX WORKER IN KAJIS HOUSE#I cant find her name or at least indication the name belongs to her in the character lists#I’m sure these r just crack ideas now#shooting for a lesbian throuple is prob too much#but a perosn can dream#the other “girls of Kaji aren’t accounted for at the end tho#I’m sure miss white hair blue eyes didn’t do w them for obv rsns#but I’d assume Akemi will be sending for the others?#I’d be just as happy w that as the pair getting a gentlelady too#just pls don’t be Taigen. pls pls pls. his ass is too annoying and self serving and obstinant#not that Mizu doesn’t have leaps and bounds to make but he makes my brain angry#god the next season is gonna be even darker w what F said about the other two#how can the writers and artists and voice actors be mentally ok#I’d need so much levity#I think words r getting away from me now

BG3 HeadCannons that WONT LET ME SLEEP
I have to share the headcannon that is living rent free in my head rn otherwise I will NEVER go tf to sleep bruh.
Okay so like WHAT IF - hear me out, WHAT IF, Halsin did have a child?? What if he - during the time he was held a prisoner in the underdark (as basically a sex slave) actually sired a daughter. He said he broke out during an altercation and didn't know what happened to his captors. He obviously wouldn't about his kid.
WHAT IF he had a daughter who was half drow - who grew up and was raised in the underdark; maybe she's the bastard child of a princess? Who knows. But what if she realizes that something is up - she's different than the other drow. She has his eye color, she has his kindness/ gentleness - she is unlike her mother who is cruel and abuses her power of position.
She is more than likely just as beautiful as her father, if not more. A flirt? 100% this kid would have Halsin's rizz.
She's a druid for sure - doesn't quite know it yet. You think Halsin is a mf tank as a cave bear???? I have reason to think that his child - can turn into an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE OF A BEAST. I'm talking like a Carnotauros.
While she is gentle and kind, she also has her mother's temper. Do not cross her, do not trust her little doe eyes. If you were ever to hurt someone she loved or double crossed her she wouldn't think twice about gutting you like a fish.
Another thing:
We all know that Halsin's heart is made of gold - he sees nature as a thing of beauty, bountiful, warm, fertile, prosperous. He sees balance.
His daughter sees nature as survival; chaos. She understands that there is thriving and then there is SURVIVING.
He is the warm mountain breeze and she is the tempest of the storm.
(forgive me - I can see in my head what I'm speaking of but typing it out and explaining it in words is difficult)
I would think that as different as they are Halsin would love her fiercely (that's his kid after all), though she would be a young adult at this point
Maybe be a little over protective??
ANOTHER THING:
in BG3 you're supposed to be able to have a companion of each class - what if you have:
Mol as your Rogue (young adult)
Arabella as your Sorceress (young adult)
Halsin's Daughter as your druid
BUT THEYRE LIKE BEST FRIENDS. IT WOULD JUST BE SO CUTE.
maybe they're a polycule? Maybe they're like idk the powerpuff girls? Maybe they're 3 best friends who - constantly get into mischeif ?
Would Halsin not approve of TAV romancing his daughter????
Can his daughter romance Dammon?? (I'm still butthurt that I can't romance him in game)
WILL I EVER FUCKING SLEEP? I CAN'T STOP THINKING THAT THIS IS A MOVIE/GAME I WANNA WATCH/PLAY
anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk. Hope my melatonin kicks in soon <3

when it comes to gwayne hightower i have planned three more fics surely (maybe more):
-> @peachysunrize's idea about the reader being a barmaid at that tavern where he was going to and they have an affair
-> more parts to "lady of the roses" but most likely they will be written the way that you can read each part without reading the previous ones — i want a fic where she comes to oldtown for the wedding and all that, maybe they have their first child together + i want a fic where they go with their children to visit king's landing and the small hightowers are butthurt that they don't have dragons like their cousins and aegon teases them they should try to claim their own dragons and someone gets hurt (not too serious) and there's a drama and gwayne has his "what? grown tired of living, have you?" at his kids lmao
buuut i also have some idea for an alternate timeline version where the reader is sent to king's landing to be alicent's lady-in-waiting so she has to live away from her husband most of the time and when he comes to king's landing in season two, they reunite 🤔
#it's gwayne brainrot and i start a summer job in a week 😩#dw its only for a week and then im free again but the job requires me to be focused 24/7 and ... yeah :)#sansaorgana's shitpost#gwayne hightower x reader

Please understand this in itself is not ship hate itself, I couldn't care less what people ship, just mere observation. But are Kylo and Rey not related? Maybe that is why people were butthurt about it. While Lucy and Cooper are not, so people won't bat an eye.
hello, op! no, kylo ren and rey are not related. but in the beginning, it was something a lot of antis [or just cautious people from the *last* time this almost happened 😅] were speculating on. kylo ren is the grandson of anakin. rey is a little harder to explain but rey is of palpatine [by way of technicality of the force in relation to her parents]. if you squint she could be interpreted as his granddaughter but truly she's like the child of a clone almost and not really a "natural" child of his by any means. all this to say, the skywalker and palpatine canonically has not crossed streams in the cinematic universe before this for there to be relation of the two. trust me when i say i've been in fandom trenches with [canonical] consanguineous ships and the writers definitely hated all us equally in the end so lmao. i'll have you know op, and you're not gonna believe this but. lucy has canonically been depicted as having a relationship with her cousin, chet, in the show. people are way less angry about that, actually rotf but any who people hated reylo primarily because it was enemies to lovers type trope and there was lots of fighting and moral questionability going on not unlike ghoulcy [typical star wars romance 💀] anyways, i didn't interpret this question as ship hate, i'm glad you asked it, actually ❤️

OBX S4 SPOILERS AHEAD!!
so I'm typing this at 7 in the morning after watching part one of s4 and boy was it a buttload of s1 all over again.
and I mean that in a good way lol
first off, let's get jjpope out of the way...
jj said I love you to Pope 2-3 times which healed my soul and they had a bunch of good moments. but ofc with 3 canon ships in the way it's going to be hard to find stuff for the non-canon.
now to the canon ships...
THEY HAVE LEFT JOHN B AND SARAH ALONE! FINALLYYY!
my newlyweds are happy and committed. That's all I want for them.
Pope and Cleo, they are so cute and I want nothing but the best for them.
jiara was fine. their chemistry was WAYYYYY better in this half-a-season than in the last 3. Obviously, the bends scene was the writers' way of giving them screen time. happy to see my boy jj happy and kie is getting back to her s1 roots which I'm ecstatic to see.
now to the other stuff...
The story this season is really interesting.
I like all the callbacks to s1. I like that the pogues feel like a true friend group again. I LOVED the way they have done group splits so far. each pogue has been split off with every other pogue! Also, I love that you can tell the pogues are experienced now. They are getting away with some much stuff that would have taken all of s1. If this really is their last season and they keep up the pace...dare I say this might be a hell of a way to close things out.
Topper is such a loser. no character arc just a simp who's butthurt and is all bark no bite. Hoping for less of him pls and thank you.
Sofia...STAND TF UP!! everyone in this goddamn town is money hungry. either be with Rafe or betray him just stop going back and forth.
John B having flashbacks about his dad is sad but realistic and I hope he comes out with a healthier mindset.
R.I.P Terrence
I had the strongest feeling he wasn't dead since one of TV's biggest rules is "no body, no death" meaning if we didn't see him get killed then he's not dead. But now he is so I hope he rests in peace.
JJ spending all the money pissed me off. Kie is becoming less annoying by becoming her s1 self again. JJ is also going back to his s1 roots but only to get on my nerves all over again! Like I love JJ and his story is now one of my favs but if he keeps f-ing up he might move down in my rankings.
speaking of jj...why is everybody getting mad at John B when JJ does someone wrong. and when decisions need to be made all the pressure is on John B. I get that he is the so-called leader of the group but leave my man be!
Pope, please keep being the smart man you are. love it, keep it coming, no notes.
Cleo, I can't wait to see you get ur revenge arc. Just keep being the badass you are, no notes.
The JJSarah sibling storyline is still afoot! JJ now knows that his mom has passed and that Luke isn't his real father. But we still don't know who Sarah's mom is! They have been laying it on thick about family and being there for each other. Sarah was really intrigued by the Blackbeard research and seemed more distracted in some scenes than others. Plus Ward's favoritism to Sarah makes more sense if Sarah isn't his real child. Maybe he adopted the hidden second child from JJ's mother and raised her as his own. With JJ knowing his ancestry and now his real father maybe Chandler Groff will reveal to JJ that he had a twin sister that was taken before they found him and his dead mother so his dad doesn't even know who his missing sister is.
Maybe that's why Chandler Groff is getting his long-lost son into Blackbeard's treasure...to find his missing daughter.
This theory is so far-fetched but it's not impossible.
Rafe wanting to fix his family and reconcile with his sister has been a main point in the story as well and what is Rafe doing to "fix his family?" buying goat island which held the first piece of Blackbeard's treasure which is really JJ's treasure! JJ, Rafe, and Sarah are all connected just like that. Plus Chandler Groff looks a lot like Ward in some ways lol.
I was so scared for this season and though I'm not getting what I want ship wise the story has got me hooked.

Feral Instincts Ch.24
Pairing: The Rogue’s Gallery (Geralt, Syverson, Mike, August Walker, Walter Marshall) x Stephanie Daniels (OFC)
WC 1036
Warnings: uhhhhhhh *vague i dunno sounds*
She could hear Sy talking on his phone as she lay in bed on her side, staring at the window.
“Yeah, I’m gonna be here for a few more hours. She and Walker had a showdown and she ripped him a new one. Nah, Walt, it’s fine, I got it. No, Geralt, she’s not pissed at you, too. She’s okay with what you do, but she made some damn valid points about what August does. I’ll talk to you guys later.” He pushed into the room, but she didn’t look at him. “Doll?” She just hummed at him and he sighed. The bed dipped slightly as he sat down on it to take off his boots before he laid on it with her, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her back against his chest. “Not sayin’ you’re wrong, because you ain’t. What the Council pulls with these “Cleaners'' is shady shit to be sure.”
“But?”
“But if he’s right about what these packs are doin’, child marriages and the like…depending on the state, the most they’d get is a slap on the wrist and a “don’t do it again, mister”.”
“Frank got blacklisted for what he did to this pack before I took over. Can’t lead a pack, can’t own territory. They could do the same thing to them when they got out of whatever sentence they received.” She said, “And weapons stockpiling isn’t technically illegal. You can own as many guns as you want. But he said that it was “some” of them, not “all” of them. Hurting the Council’s fee-fees by telling them to fuck off isn’t illegal, and it makes it sound like the Council just doesn’t like not being in control of everything having to do with wolves. They’re taking out their butthurt by sending Cleaners, like August, to kill these people. If the US Government sent out hitmen to take out everyone that criticized them, a “shit storm” wouldn’t even begin to describe it. You know who does that? Dictators. Stalin did that, Mussolini did that, and they didn’t exactly live long and full lives.”
“If these anti-wolf groups heard about what these packs are doin’--”
“It would give them ammo, yeah, but it’s not just wolves that do it. Humans do terrible things too. Wolves are wolves, but they’re also people and people suck.” She said, “He said that the Council doesn’t want a Waco incident. Waco was because of humans, that cult was run by a human. If these groups try to pull “see? Wolves are terrible” you can just list all the shit that humans have done. Hilter wasn’t a wolf, Pol Pot wasn’t a wolf, Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer weren’t wolves. Charles Manson, not a wolf. I can go on.”
“Point made, babe.” He said, “You know, I don’t think there’s a single female Alpha on the Pack Council. I think it’s all a buncha guys.”
“Maybe there should be.” Stephanie said and he picked his head up to look at her.
“Thinkin’ about goin’ into politics, doll?” He asked and she snorted.
“No, I’d be terrible at it.”
“You’d have some weight behind you. Geralt is their best Tracker, if I’m rememberin’ right and August is notorious enough as a Cleaner where he’s basically the bogeyman, apparently.” Sy said, “Get a few others on your team and you’d be a contender. I also think they’re all born wolves, not a single infected among’em, so they don’t have that human perspective. You see shit from the viewpoint of both worlds, they only see it from theirs.”
“Question for you, though.”
“Hit me.”
“You said you worked with August on a mission once when he was still with the CIA.”
“How we met, yeah.”
“Did it have anything to do with what he did with the Agency?” She asked and he sighed. “Markus.”
“Rogue Intelligence Agent was sellin’ intel and advanced arms to an insurgent faction in Iraq. We kept gettin’ blindsided, our boys ambushed on ops that were supposed to be classified.” He said, “August rocked up and gave me the rundown. I worked with him to take care of the faction, while he tracked down and got rid of the Agent. There was a lot of downtime between intel drops so we got to talkin’. We recognized each other as Alpha wolves right away and this was before the Council made the decision to go public, so it was something we bonded over. That and cards. Man’s terrible at Texas Hold’em. I think he still owes me fifty bucks, thinkin’ about it.”
“Make sure he pays up.” She said with a snort.
“Now, baby, I’m gonna need you to stop thinkin’ about another man while you’re in bed with me. Ya hear?” He asked and she laughed, rolling over onto her back partially to look up at him as he propped himself up with an elbow.
“I love you.” She said, reaching up to touch the side of his face gently.
“Love you more.”
“Not possible.”
“Babe, when Mikey was tendin’ to your arm after you first showed up, Lewis came at me tellin’ me to give you back, that you were his. You know what I told’im?”
“What?”
“Not anymore.” He said, “I wasn’t thinkin’, I just said it. You weren’t his anymore, you were mine. Geralt knew you were his Mate when you first pulled at his wolf, but I think I knew sooner than that, it just hadn’t sunk in yet.”
“I wonder when Walter knew.”
“You’d have to ask him sometime.”
“And August.”
“Nah, he probably knew the moment you told him to go fuck himself holdin’ a middle finger in his face.” He said and she snorted, “Don’t know how I didn’t declare my undyin’ love right then and there.” She didn’t say anything, tuning back onto her side and Sy settled again, his arm around her waist.
“You know what?” She asked and he hummed. “I think I would have preferred it if he had been doing porn.”
“Really?” He asked, a laugh in his voice.
“I would have sent the ladies a gift basket.” She said, “And a note saying “yeah he’s just kinda like that”.”

Sorry, show's over, folks. Every First Time can't continue because this episode (07x07, The Mentalists) pissed me off so much that I can't even begin thinking on a way to turn this into something sweet, hot, and/or gay.
So this is after Sam finds out Dean killed Amy in the previous episode, right? And Dean is so butthurt that Sam is still mad at him. It's super embarrassing for him. When Dean coincidentally runs into him as breakfast joint near the beginning, Dean manages to babble out 141 words before Sam manages even one. And when he does:
SAM: "Dean--" DEAN: "Oh, he speaks."
Like, what the hell? What are you, Dean, a parent whose kid doesn't talk to them anymore after they turn 18 because of constant comments like that? And then there's this little exchange:
DEAN: "Look, I get it. There are certain people in this world, no matter how dangerous they are, you just can't." SAM: "Don't pull that card! That's bull. Look, if I've learned one thing, it's that if something feels wrong, it probably is!" DEAN: "Usually, yeah. But killing Amy was not wrong. You couldn't do it, so I did. That's what family does--the dirty work. And I woulda told you, eventually, once I knew that this whole 'waving a gun at Satan' thing was a one-time show. I think it's reasonable to want to know that you're off the friggin' high dive, Sam. You almost got us both killed, so you can be pissed all you want, but quit being a bitch."
I know they didn't kill the witches from a few episodes back because they couldn't, but guess what! They also had a body count of four and those victims were totally innocent people! Unlike Amy who, as far as we can tell, killed total scumbags to save her dying child. And Dean is the one who gets a message from Ellen in the beyond telling him he needs to let someone know how bad he's feeling? Are they serious? Is this a fucking joke? Not to mention the implied victim-blaming when it comes to Sam and his hallucinations. Oh, I'm sorry, are the side-effects of Sam throwing himself into a box with the devil to save the fucking world inconvenient to you Dean??? And who wants to be that Dean's full of shit when he says he would have told Sam eventually? Oh, yeah, I'm sure.
And then they have Sam fucking agree with him!!
SAM: "Look, you know what? Um... You were right. About Amy. If she was... just any monster, I'm not sure I could have let her walk away. I don't know. I mean, I'll never know."
That's right! We'll never know! But you know what? I'm sorta willing to believe that Sam might have given her the benefit of the doubt! And he sure as shit wouldn't have let her kid to fend for his fucking self.
And then there's this cherry on top of the shit Sunday:
DEAN: "And as far as how I been acting... I don't know. Maybe it's 'cause I don't like lying to you. You know, it doesn't feel right. So, yeah, you got me there. I been climbing the walls."
Awww, Dean's feeling sad and drinking because he's a fucking liar?? BOO0-FUCKING-HOO. They really did everything in their power to make it so Dean didn't really have to apologize, huh? I'm just tearing my hair out over this. Sam's feelings are completely minimized, brushed aside, and even made to look foolish throughout this episode. And, again, as a reminder, he's mad about HIS BROTHER KILLING HIS FRIEND AND THEN LYING ABOUT IT. Why are you mad about that, Sam? That's stupid, come on. Just get over it. :/
#meta#07x07 the mentalists#episode crit#this fucking show#i try not to be a bitter sam girl all the time#but this makes me fucking mad#what a perfect little microcosm of the show's problem with favoring dean over sam#such bullshit

Digimon Tamers - Episode 28
IDK why, but this episode flew by and felt shorter than usual. I think that's the sign of a good episode. I knew Ryo was supposed to show up in this season eventually, but it still feels kind of jarring. His design is so "generic RPG hero" lol.
Notes:
The boys being frustrated with Ruki and Renamon for always "talking with their eyes" was funny. It felt like they were really lampooning the duo's "too-cool-for-school" vibes in this episode.
The animation was very smooth in this one, especially noticeable in the super windy scenes were everyone's hair was being blown about.
Not only did we get Hagurumon (one of my faves), but we got a blushy Hagurumon too!
V cute. I feel like I've never noticed the asymmetrical eyes before?
Very vague concept for today's setting. There's a clock that, if it's screwed with, stops all of the gears in the area which inexplicably then releases a Megadramon? Super random but okay
Does Megadramon have skull nipples? That's pretty hard to take seriously, I gotta say
So apparently digimon in the Digital World all pine to go to the Real World. Why tho? What's the appeal for them? Do they all want tamers so they can digivolve maybe?
I thought Cyberdramon's design looked too similar to Beelzebumon's design. Maybe this is a recency bias thing since Beelzebumon was just revealed last episode, but I confused the two for a second there.
I wasn't sure what to make of Ruki's reaction of Ryo and at first I thought she was developing a crush or something, but then they explained that Ryo was a big shot in the TCG world. The fact that Ruki's just butthurt cuz she's not the coolest one in town anymore is pretty funny.
I was a little taken aback when Ruki described Ryo as "tanned." I mean I guess from a Japanese perspective he's tanner, but that wasn't my initial impression at all.
Low key unsettling when the gang just got smooshed in the floating cube
Of course it shows that they're fine like 2 seconds later, but I feel like I'd be alarmed as a child.
I feel like ditching everyone because she's put off by Ryo was so petty of Ruki at the end there. Hope they don't prolong this "everyone's split up" thing for too long.
Ryo used some sort of lasso/whip-like thing on Cyberdramon when he got out of control. I'm not sure what they were going for with that. It felt kind of "lion tamer in a circus" vibes.

thoughts and feelings about the Netflix's Live Action Avatar, now that I've finished:
overall, net positive! as i said in my previous post about the first 3 episodes [x], i'm someone who goes into adaptations with minimal expectations, treating it more like fanfiction, so I can spend more time enjoying myself than being a butthurt baby, so with that in mind i can say that I enjoyed myself a lot! there are episodes that i'm actually really excited to rewatch (5 and 6 are bangers and i won't be told otherwise)
i'm not going to lie and claim that any of the actors will be winning Daytime Emmys, but there were a few standout performances for me at least:
-Zuko was incredible. i love the way this version leaned into Zuko's desperation to capture the Avatar, because now he finally had a real chance of being able to come home after all these years. his acting pre- and post-Agni Kai in the flashbacks felt so sincere. his optimism was adorable before the war meeting and his shattered expression after Ozai banished him was fucking heartbreaking.
-i really loved the boy who played Aang. he was so charming and cute! and i think as the episodes went along he gradually got better at displaying more subtle emotion. for such a young child actor i thought he was doing amazing
-Sokka's actor was putting in work in the back half! i was impressed! the first half of the show I was pretty neutral about Sokka's acting but the more development he got the more I appreciated what his actor was bringing to the table. i think he just needed to be paired with the right acting partners in a scene to bring out the best of his abilities. Katara didn't give him much to work off of, but his scenes with Sai and Yue really hit
-Zhao was great too! they really re-worked his character to be a lot more important from the jump and i loved seeing how underhanded he was being during all of Zuko's quest. normally seeing Zhao on-screen just annoys me but i loved this version and how patronizing he was to Zuko
-idk man every time Gyatso was on screen I was crying. that's just how it is. every time i saw his face it felt like a warm hug
i think the weird part of this adaptation is that the parts that were adapted were pretty mid (or sometimes just bad) in a lot of cases, but whenever they added in their own original ideas it really shined! i feel like that's not the case with a lot of adaptation, people want to see what they know, but honestly if they added in more of their own original writing in s2 I would not be mad because i loved what these writers were bringing to the table (for the most part)
-i've already said that the way they structured ep 1 to include the start of the war was awesome. that was a cool change to show the audience from the jump that they weren't planning on boring everyone with a one-to-one(but worse) adaptation. it also set the tone really well bc my GOD do firebenders be setting people on fire in this show
-big fan of the early inclusion of Kyoshi and the idea that Aang can only convene with past Avatars at their temples. that was not a Hard Rule in the original and it always felt weird to me that sometimes he needed to be at a certain place on a certain day to communicate with his past lives but then in the finale he just had to meditate wherever he was. but yeah, they used Kyoshi lore from the novels and did indeed lose my mind about it
-Zuko and the 41st division. that was SUCH a cool storyline that was woven in starting at episode ONE and i was genuinely impressed with how hard it hit. i didn't see that coming and it had me CRYINGGGG. so yeah, BIG thumbs up for that original storyline. and also they inclusion of the post-Agni Kai Zuko recovering in the hospital and getting banished for claiming that maybe the weak just need the opportunity to get strong. heartbreaking, devastating on its own (Zuko's actor truly was killing me, i loved him so much) but once we see Zuko and Azula start going toe-to-toe next season that line will hurt me even more
-the bonding moment about calligraphy between Aang and Zuko was a really good bait and switch. in the original Blue Spirit episode Zuko didn't talk to Aang at all before firing at him. i like that i was expecting it to play out the same way as before but instead they had a moment of connection before Aang triggered Zuko and all potential for empathy was lost.
-which seems like a good time to address Zuko's character. i want to be clear when i say that i liked something because it was different from the original, it doesn't mean that i like it BETTER than the original. i simply think the new version is fun fanfiction that was written better than i expected. so when i say i like how they dealt with Zuko's obsession with honor, i'm in no way implying it's superior to the original. simply a good different
-anyways. in the original, Zuko's obsession with honor is fully connected to his need to be wanted by his father again. OZAI is the only one who can restore it, and it can only be restored by completing an impossible task for him. in the Netflix version it almost seems like Zuko's honor is tied to the disillusion that the Fire Nation itself is honorable. the bit about Lieutenant...Yi? sorry i'm getting his name wrong, but Lieutenant Yi gossiping about a superior officer, Zuko's disbelief that the Fire Nation would ever use such underhanded tactics like planting spies in Omashu, it was clear to me that Zuko bought into a rigid sense of morality and honor when it came to the Fire Nation. i hope we see more of that in s2 so that we can see Zuko's world truly rocked when he and Iroh become refugees
-Katara being hailed as a master was very sweet! i wish she would have gotten SOME training from Paku (could still happen at the start of book 2) but I did enjoy that during the Siege of the North that she got her own little battalion to command bc she was seen as worth warrior
-OH and I love how they explored Sokka's character. again, them taking out Sokka's blatant sexism didn't bother me, so i was happy to see that in taking that out they DID work hard to make Sokka's character motivations rich and meaningful. having him have the same complex about being a lacking warrior as the original cartoon but with the added twist of overhearing his dad's harsh words about his abilities really added something to Sokka's insecurities. i loved the inclusion of Sai encouraging Sokka to become an engineer because it was clear how much that meant to him. considering in the cartoon he does become a pretty badass warrior (while still being mainly an Idea Guy) i wonder how this storyline will play out later. if he'll try harder to fit into the warrior box he thinks he belongs in or if he'll blatantly begin to reject that role for himself and identify more heavily with his engineer side
-the cave of two lovers had me worried for a second because Sokka and Katara were paired together for that and im like UMMM so i thought it was pretty funny how they reinterpreted "love is brightest in the dark" in that scene. not as good as the original, obviously, but a funny reinterpretation that i didn't hate
i probably have more to say on the additions but this is getting long so i think it's time to get to some criticisms. this show was not perfect by any means and i have several gripes with it so i might as well get that out now
-WAIT first i must say that a lot of the bending looked phenomenal. particularly Zuko and Aang's bending. both actors (and their stunt doubles) were great martial artists and the fire effects and air effects were done really well. i was really worried about how they'd adapt airbending (since air is invisible) and they did a great job adding in dust cloud effects and making sure the props in the scene moved they like would if they were blasted by air
-AND i must emphasize that i was not mad at them chopping up storylines and mixing them together. the Mechanist/Jet plotlines had similar themes of seemingly Good People doing unethical things for what they believed to be a good cause, so putting them in the same episode made sense to me. and having Sokka and Katara getting spirited away and caught up in that mist (a fun LOK reference that time, i loved the easter eggs) and then captured by Koh was a good way to separate them from Aang the Blue Spirit arc could take place. that also made sense to me. people who get mad about the re-shuffling of episodes frustrate me to no end.
okay, now onto critique:
-unfortunately, Iroh was a giant flop. i don't know how else to say it. i didn't really like any part of him, from his costuming to his writing to his acting. something about him felt like he was plucked out of a campy low-budget stage play and just thrown into this show while only know his campy stage play lines. both Zuko and Zhao give pretty grounded, emotional performances and Iroh is SO jarring by comparison when he's in the same room as them acting like a caricature of himself for no reason. his wig was terrible, i wish they had made it more flowy because it stayed the same shape and position the whole time, he used the WEIRDEST announcer voice the whole time (like why are you using a voice?? no one else is using a voice??), and his robes seemed out of place when everyone else was wearing leather armor. and they had a moment in episode 4 where an Earth Kingdom soldier really laid into him because back when Iroh was a general he was responsible for the death of Earth Kingdom soldier's brother. i was interested to see this bc we BARELY get to see Iroh's Bad Side in the cartoon and i was curious to see where the live action would go with it. but it ended with Earth Kingdom soldier slugging Iroh or slapping his face or something and Iroh made some snoody remark about how war changes people, and he WASN'T talking about himself. like bro this man just told you you COOKED his brother alive he has earned the right to slug you, what are you talking about! i was expecting remorse, or at the very least a solemn look of guilt over the person Iroh once was, but nothing. it was bad. obviously having the iconic Uncle Iroh be so terrible is a huge mark against the show. i simply cannot defend that
-circling back to Iroh's wig. well. the hair and make-up department went out of their way to make important characters look like their cartoon counterparts and that was not always beneficial. why did Yue look like she was from Whoville. who okayed that.
-many people have already pointed it out, but it was weird in ep 1 that Aang's decision to leave was because he needed to clear his head, not because he was running away from his responsibilities. i have no idea why they made this change, unless the reason was to have every single person (including past Avatars) dog on Aang for not being around during the past 100 years. but even that doesn't hit the same bc it truly wasn't his fault! he went for a drive and got caught in a storm! he intended to be back in a few hours! idk that change didn't make sense to me. i know Aang felt guilt regardless but the guilt was supposed to be from the intentionality of Aang running away
-the way Katara broke Aang out of the iceberg was weird?? she wasn't angry at Sokka for his sexism, but she could have been angry at him for SOMETHING that caused her bending to grow out of control. or at the very least when she was bending the canoe towards her she could have done a sharp pulling motion towards her that ended with her arms behind her, therefore forming the cracks in the ice (kind of a callback to how in the pilot Katara could really only waterbend backwards at first). instead her hands were fully facing forward and she was gently bending in front of her and that led to the ice sphere exploding behind her. its been bothering me. whyyy
-character-wise, Katara was pretty one-note. like the addition of her guilt for getting her mom killed with her subpar waterbending, while not bad, didn't make up for how much she DIDN'T have going on. it felt like they toned down a lot of Katara's character strengths AND flaws to give Sokka more room to arc, then shoved all of Katara's development into the last 2 episodes. they didn't show much of her resilient hope in the face of adversity or rage towards injustice or how petty she could be. part of this could be her actor, who i won't dog on because she is a child actor who will get better with time, but i don't think the flimsy writing of her did her any favors
-score wasn't nearly as good as Jeremy Zuckerman/The Track Team's. remixing some of the A:TLA's score doesn't make up for the fact that all the original scoring in this adaptation was flat by comparison
-Bumi's whole thing was....weird. i didn't mind at first that they speedran through his reveal because i don't think there's a point to try and surprise the three people who haven't seen the original. 99% of the audience knew the King was Bumi, so I didn't see any problem with that. but the set-up flashback of Bumi lasted like 10 seconds and basically just showed him snort. it didn't give you a reason to get attached to him as Aang's past friend. and his current actions didn't help at all. the acting was very Michael Meyer's Cat in the Hat-esque. so. uh. SCARY AND OFFPUTTING. was not a fan of that all. and having him do a few random goofy tests for Aang AFTER already knowing his identity felt...weird? like what's the point of these now? and then having the reveal that he's NOT kooky, he genuinely IS pissed at Aang for being gone, well. hmm. it's not a bad idea in theory. i liked the concept of having someone FROM THIS TIMELINE (looking at you, Kyoshi, Roku, and Kuruk, and your unjustified rage toward Aang) be upset at Aang for leaving the world in such a state of imbalance. having Bumi be like DO YOU KNOW ALL THE SHIT I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH SINCE THE WORLD HAS HAD NO AVATAR, was an interesting line of thought i could have rocked with, butttt.....idk man. it's BUMI. he's supposed to be a living memory of Aang's past to give him comfort and wisdom! it hurt to see this version be so cruel to Aang and basically force him to try to kill him just to prove a point. i would have rather had them write out Bumi altogether and use that episode for something else than to smear his name like that
-i'm tentatively alright with Azula's plotline right now. the Zuko line "Azula was born lucky, I was lucky to be born" is really essential to how their rivalry worked in the cartoon. Azula was a cold-hearted prodigy while Zuko was compassionate boy but average bender. i liked the idea of showing how Ozai intentionally pitted his children against each other. i liked seeing Azula's moment of defiance where she claims she's DONE being tested because she know how good her abilities are. i liked seeing the origin of her lighting bending. all of those were cool fanfiction. the thing that worries me is that we, the audience, have already seen Azula's doubt in herself, something we weren't privy to until the very end of the series. plus showing how hard Azula trains kind of undercuts the fact that Zuko is supposed to think he can't measure up to her because of her natural abilities that he DOESN'T have. they DID plant the seed to Zuko that Azula was the one backing Zhao the whole time, so we do have some of their rivalry primed to go. but the rivalry in the original is extremely one-sided. it will be odd to see Azula fighting just as hard to earn Ozai's affection, because intrinsically she should think that game was won a long time ago. so yeah. i'm not mad about it YET, just interested to see how it plays out
and then there are little nitpicks that could be resolved in season 2, should it get picked up again
-Aang not learning any waterbending or burning Katara with firebending can be woven into the early eps of season 2 before Toph's introduction
-the gaang's chemistry will only grow stronger with time. as the cast becomes better friends, as the kids become better actors with age, and considering they don't separate much in s2, i have faith that will iron itself out naturally
-tbh im sure there are more but this is so long i'm fizzling out. i'm fading. i must stop.
but yeah! good and bad! there's lots to unpack but in general i think it was fun. i'm excited for more.

I wasn't talking about genocide, it was about you said die hard swifties. Maybe that's a phrase you use so often without understanding the weight of it and for everyone that you have no clue about the context. See it took you no time to say to me to die :)
anon, you butthurt little child. "die hard swifties" literally just means loyal/devoted swifties. "die hard" is a phrase. 😭
