Akko honestly should be a success story for Luna Nova instead of a disgrace. She's not even a natural witch yet she's capable of magic, only poorly compared to everyone who's been doing it since childhood and have a proper bloodline

Yup, that’s a big point in Little Witch Academia, I believe! The central theme of the narrative is “A dying art and style of life that withers away due to its insistence to sticking to outdated tradition instead, and how breaking said traditions and embracing the modern world is the proper way”. By all means, Akko should be a success story, as you said, not only because she can use magic, albeit very poorly, despite not being part of any witch family (in the LWAverse, magic is more akin to a skill like athleticism or the arts, in that they are difficult to make a living with them, but technically anyone can perform them), but rather, for what she has done with said poor magic and just with her attitude:

All these things have to do with one thing: Akko’s sheer ignorance of tradition and unwillingness to adhere to it even when told about it. It’s her very nature as an iconoclast that has allowed her to do what she’s done. Instead of just letting Vajarois cry her eyes out as an spectacle for all Witches to observe (and even the other Witches hate this, they are doing this simply because tradition says so), she makes the Ritual Sacrifice a fun skit instead, and ends up healing Vajarois by daring to defy the status quo. It is implied this is precisely why the Shiny Rod chose her, as Chariot du Nord was also an iconoclast in her youth, and an infamous one at that, and that’s why she could use the Shiny Rod in the first place: After whatever it is that happened 10 years ago change her into yet another cog in the traditional system (as Ursula) that has stopped seeing magic as something lovely and fun, she lost the ability to use the Rod. Akko sees magic as the most beautiful, fun thing in the world, and it’s that attitude that allowed her to use it, despite having the magic talent and skill of a dead cat.

The overall message of the show is not just “fuck tradition”, though. It’s more akin to “modernize tradition and embrace modernity instead of sticking to one extreme end”; Croix is also an iconoclast, but one that is a foil to Chariot and Akko: She just does as she pleases without any respect for the craft or those around her. In the end, it’s Akko’s passion and love for fun and magic that allows her to be the one. It is further proven in the latest episode that magic tradition is something elitist jerks came up with instead of the Nine Old Witches and the originators of magic: When Akko breaks into the sacred grounds of the Cavendish ritual area to help Diana, tradition upheld that only those of Cavendish could enter, and others would be struck with calamity. Not only is Akko not struck with calamity at all, Diana and Akko are both defended by Beatrix, and instead, Daryl and her two daughters, all of them Cavendishes, get cursed with calamity for disrupting the ritual. Akko very much has the support of the old ones in magic, as she, ironically, represents what magic should be instead of what magic is: Fun and for the service of people, not a high brow barrier separating the gifted from the lacking. Akko embodies this.
