My auntie keeps Golden Guernsey goats on our island, like many of our local unique breeds of livestock they nearly went extinct in the starving during ww2 occupation surviving by only one smuggled flock. They're super friendly and energetic and their colouration might be of interest :eyes:

And the next day during a protest/counter protest in Glasgow's George Square, STV news was reporting on said protest, and I, a journalism student, happened to be practicing taking photos of newsworthy events

And I didn't know I was in shot of the reporter, just over his shoulder, because I was stood on a bench taking photos

And a guy runs into shot and jumps onto the bench next to me, trying to be seen on TV, but I don't know STV news are filming, and I'm like oh I see, you are also here to take photos, here let me step off this bench

I wanted to try and find my headcanon of Roach's face because for some reason my brain decided that I couldn't keep writing my fanfic if I didn't know what I wanted him to look like beneath his mask... So obviously the full picture wasn't planned. (Also I went the easy way for the background because I remembered that I wasn't getting paid anyway so why make myself suffer)

I don't know if the design is definitive, but I find him cute. I made him Welsh, because why not. He can bond with Soap over why the fuck do the English exist.

I have another ScotNor AU from when I spent a month in Orkney researching herring fishing in Scotland during the 1800s 🙈

Scotland is a fisherman and one day Norway shows up, sailing across the sea with this old boat and starts selling his herring at the docks - always catching more than the other boats. Scotland does not like this new guy who is not even local, and they strike up this sort of rivalry (because Norway can be snarky when he wants to), sending a few remarks each other's way when they cross paths at the docks or on the sea. Norway has good knowledge of the ocean and knows good herring spots, and Scotland ends up following him there some days. Then, one day, there is a sudden storm and they are too far from land. They get tossed around by the waves, and Norway's boat ends up shattering, flinging him into the dark water. Scotland manages to save him, and together they get his boat under control.

So, re: "whose drinking laws apply to you while flying over the pond", I actually had a few friends look into it because they're under 21 and going to study in Wales for a semester (theyre actually already there lol) and what I got from listening to them talk about it is that you deal with the laws of the country youre flying FROM. So they wouldnt have been able to drink on the way TO Wales because they're technically under American Law still, but coming home they would be able to

God the bumble situation is so painful. I don’t think I realised how weird and bad it was when I first read it but yeah,, maybe it doesn’t register to people as as violent because they’re cats but multiple scratches has to be pretty serious and intentional.

ALSO why is “she wouldn’t fit in here” such a big point against taking her in?? I don’t remember but does anyone suggest the super obvious answer, which is to take her in and find her a suitable living arrangement? I think a lot of people don't register it because of how the narrative is ripping into her for being fat and dramatic, to the point of even treating her domestic abuse injuries like tiny little scratches she's just whining about.

Tom waits for the humans to be looking the other way, and then BEATS her. He does it intentionally, and purposefully. There's so much about this situation that makes me feel sick, but I keep wrapping back around to Tom being given a redemption death, and avenged by his children.

Bumble is cold in her grave and Tom gets to have a loving sendoff. The man responsible for kidnapping children, getting Turtle killed, and assaulting a defenseless molly.

And Jagged Peak. The way he shows up just to insult her weight, and then is totally quiet as every insecurity he's ever experienced about his role in Clan life is used AS A WEAPON to throw someone out in front of his face...

It could have been used to talk about how ableism affects EVERYONE. Even the 'good' people you deem 'worthy'.
