Yes and amen and thank you.
Also brand endorsements is where the big money's at, possibly to a greater degree in Thailand than a lot of other places, but three of BOC's big names are managed by Venture for that bit, not by BOC itself, which says something about BOC's priorities.
Saint Suppapong wrangled quite decent CGI and lovely action scenes into The Sign because he bloody well wanted to and forked out for it. That wasn't cheap, and allegedly it didn't have other sponsors at the time of going into production, but take that with a grain of salt.
So all in all, where there's a will and some good connections and/or some money in your own account there's often a way.
If I can correct one detail, @chaos0pikachu - The Paradise of Thorns isn't a BOC production, it's GDH 559 (which is under the GMM umbrella, as it happens, but it's not the ever-grinding show machine GMMTV is)
genuine question about thai television industry: where the hell does Be On Cloud get money to make shows with such high production quality? if they can do this, why don't other thai ql leaning studios make tv shows on this level? is it just well chosen sponsors? good equipment and filming team in their possession? what makes them different
#thai entertainment industry#filming and editing while airing tends to work fine when it's part of a show's concept and in the hands of a good showrunner#but that's not on for a sleek production like 4 minutes for instance#and honestly it gets a bit obvious that post-production didn't get enough love or money when it's not part of the concept

Watch Life: Discovering the Value of a Smart Life Watch
In today’s fast-paced world, where time is both precious and fleeting, the concept of “watch life” has gained new importance. Far more than just devices to track hours and minutes, today’s watches—especially smart life watches—have evolved into multi-functional companions that bring health, connectivity, and convenience to the wearer’s life. These advanced devices help us stay on top of not just time, but also well-being and communication, enhancing daily routines and transforming how we manage our schedules, fitness, and productivity.
1. Health Monitoring on Your Wrist
One of the biggest innovations in wearable technology is the health-tracking feature available in most modern smart life watches. These watches monitor vital metrics like heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and even sleep quality. By continuously measuring these indicators, a smart life watch provides valuable insights into your health. You can receive alerts if your heart rate is too high or too low, track your daily activity levels, and set goals for fitness—all without the need for multiple devices or complicated setups.
A smart life watch makes fitness a more consistent and engaging part of your life. For those looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle, the watch acts as both a guide and motivator. You can easily set daily step goals, check calorie expenditure, and track workouts—all from your wrist. Many models even provide exercise suggestions and personalized insights to help you reach fitness milestones more effectively.
2. Enhanced Connectivity and Convenience
Smart life watches are designed to streamline communication. By connecting to your smartphone, they allow you to make and receive calls, send messages, and get social media notifications—all with a quick glance at your wrist. This level of connectivity can be particularly helpful for those who are often on the go or who prefer to stay hands-free during their day-to-day activities.
Beyond basic communication, these watches often include features such as GPS tracking, weather updates, and calendar notifications, helping you stay organized and informed without needing to reach for your phone. This convenience makes it easier to maintain focus on what matters most—whether it’s an important work task or quality time with family—without interruptions.
3. Boosting Productivity and Personal Time Management
Smart life watches have the power to improve productivity by allowing users to manage tasks and schedules efficiently. Many watches come with reminders, alarms, and apps that help you keep track of meetings, deadlines, and personal to-do lists. Having these tools right on your wrist can prevent you from getting sidetracked and allow you to stay on task with minimal effort.
These watches help you prioritize and allocate time, making it easier to balance work and personal commitments. For instance, if you’re trying to limit screen time on your smartphone, using a smart life watch can help you stay connected without as much distraction, allowing you to focus on completing tasks more effectively.
4. Personal Style and Customization
While functionality is key, smart life watches are also about style. They come in a variety of designs, from sleek and minimalist to rugged and sporty, and many are highly customizable. With options to change watch bands, faces, and even the interface layout, you can adapt your smart life watch to fit any occasion or outfit.
Customization adds another dimension to the “watch life” concept, as it allows users to showcase their personality and preferences. Smart life watches are more than just a tool; they are an expression of who you are, merging practicality with aesthetic appeal.
5. Environmental and Long-Term Benefits
Lastly, the advancements in watch technology mean that many of these devices are built to last and often include eco-friendly features, such as solar charging or power-saving modes. These innovations reduce the need for constant battery replacements and lessen the environmental impact of ownership. Furthermore, the longevity of a smart life watch contributes to a sustainable lifestyle, making it a valuable investment.
Embracing Watch Life
In conclusion, the “watch life” concept has redefined the way we look at timepieces. Modern smart life watches offer a balance of health, connectivity, productivity, and personal style that resonates with today’s lifestyle needs. They are no longer just tools for telling time—they are wearable tech that encourages a healthy, connected, and organized life. Embracing a smart life watch is more than just adopting new technology; it’s about enhancing life’s quality, day by day. Whether you’re looking to stay fit, be more efficient, or simply enjoy a stylish accessory, a smart life watch is the perfect companion for the journey.

A Game-Changer for Wellbeing: My Experience with Health
For years, I felt like I was just going through the motions. Work was demanding, sleep was elusive, and my energy levels dipped lower each day. I tried countless supplements and tweaked my diet, but nothing seemed to make a lasting difference. Then, I stumbled upon Health, a product that promised a holistic approach to wellbeing. Intrigued, I decided to give it a go, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer.
A User-Friendly Interface & Personalised Approach (Heading 1)
Right from the start, Health impressed me with its user-friendliness. The app is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to navigate even for someone not particularly tech-savvy like myself. After a quick initial setup, I was greeted by a personalised dashboard, tailored to my goals and lifestyle. This personalised touch felt refreshing compared to the one-size-fits-all approach I'd encountered elsewhere.
Holistic Wellness at Your Fingertips (Heading 2)
Health goes beyond just tracking steps or monitoring sleep patterns. It delves into a comprehensive analysis of your overall wellbeing. The app tracks various metrics like sleep quality, activity levels, stress, and even hydration. This holistic approach provided a clearer picture of where I needed to focus. For example, while my step count was decent, the app revealed I wasn't getting enough deep sleep, impacting my energy levels.
Actionable Insights & Guidance (Heading 3)
What truly sets Health apart is its ability to translate data points into actionable insights. The app doesn't just tell you what's going on; it suggests ways to improve. For instance, when it noticed my sleep patterns faltering, it recommended relaxation techniques and mindfulness exercises. It also highlighted the importance of creating a consistent sleep schedule, something I hadn't considered before.
Building Healthy Habits, One Step at a Time (Heading 4)
Health doesn't bombard you with overwhelming changes. Instead, it encourages you to build healthy habits one step at a time. The app offers a library of guided programs that focus on specific areas like sleep improvement, stress management, or boosting energy levels. I started with a simple 10-minute mindfulness routine before bed, and within a few weeks, I noticed a significant improvement in my sleep quality. This success spurred me to tackle other areas using the various programs offered.
A Supportive Community & Ongoing Motivation (Heading 5)
It's easy to lose motivation on the path to better health. Thankfully, Health provides a supportive community that keeps you engaged. The app connects you with other users, allowing you to share experiences, offer encouragement, and hold each other accountable. This sense of community has been invaluable, especially when facing setbacks. Additionally, the app provides daily reminders and motivational quotes, keeping my goals at the forefront of my mind.
Investing in My Wellbeing (Heading 6)
While some might consider Health an investment, for me, it's been an investment in my long-term wellbeing. Since using it, I've seen a noticeable improvement in my sleep quality, energy levels, and overall sense of well-being. The app has empowered me to take control of my health and make informed decisions about my daily habits. I no longer just go through the motions; I feel energized, focused, and ready to tackle whatever life throws my way. If you're looking for a way to take charge of your health and feel your best, I highly recommend giving Health a try.

10 expert video marketing tips to grow your brand with online video editing
If a picture can speak a thousand words, imagine what a video can do! Videos are among the most valuable tools in a marketer's toolbox. But not all videos leave a mark, and more often than not, poor editing is to blame.
Producing a sleek, well-edited video that resonates with your audience can seem like a daunting task, one that requires plenty of prior video editing experience, right? Nope, illusto provides a use-for-all DIY online editing platform that is easy, fast, and fun to use. illusto employs never-seen-before features including 4k exports, the world’s biggest media library, unlimited video duration, GIF creations, and a whole lot more in one easy-to-use product available online and for free.
Using a platform is never enough. We want to sweat the details so your video transforms into a story that appeals to your audiences and delivers maximum engagement. Here are 10 easy tips to acquire a decent edit on your brand-based videos:
1. Hook your viewers in the first 5 seconds
There is no dearth of content vying for your audience’s attention. It’s important to catch their attention in the first 5-10 seconds before they scroll past your video. Make the beginning interesting. Use a dramatic transition, interesting visuals or animations (such an animated text) that capture their interest.
2. Don’t make your videos too long
This ties in with the first tip. It’s not enough to hook your viewers in the first 5-10 seconds, you need to sustain their attention through the length of your video. Keep your videos short, crisp and to the point. A number of factors would effect video length, but typically, a 1-2 minute video (or shorter) works well. Here’s where you need to exercise your power as an editor and splice the frills ruthlessly.
3. Make your text pop
Pay close attention to the font you use. Is your brand fun and quirky? Or does it belong to the luxury segment? All these factors would determine your font, and indeed, every other element in your marketing videos. You can also animate your text with some movement – choose from our extensive library of animated text fonts to bring your story to life.
4. Transitions are key
Your footage should transition from one shot to another seamlessly. Some videos might call for a simple transition between shots, while others could do with a bit of fun. With illusto, there are a range of general, 2D and 3D transition effects that you can choose from and easily incorporate between frames. A little bit of creativity can really elevate your videos!
5. Don’t forget to color correct
Color correction is an often neglected but important part of editing, which can give your final video a distinct look and character. You can emphasise certain colours and dial down others. You can adjust the brightness, contrast and other elements of your footage. This helps to visually tie together the different shots. illusto offers comprehensive color correction options to elevate your footage!
6. Choose the right background music
Choose the appropriate background music that best reflects your brand and helps in communicating your message. Soft piano music might work well for luxury brands, for instance. But selling toys might call for something fun. You can also edit your videos with the beat or pulse of the music, which helps in creating a crisp, engaging video. illusto’s audio features also allow you to throw in a pre-recorded or live voiceover.
7. Add captions/subtitles
It's a small detail, but don’t skip over this one. Many viewers often see their videos on mute and adding captions or subtitles is always a good idea.
8. Be consistent in branding
Your videos should ideally have a consistent look and feel to make them instantly recognisable. Pay close attention to the elements in your video to make sure that they reflect your brand. Don’t forget to place your logo and tagline prominently in the video!
9. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
Play around with different filters, effects, fonts and transitions. Try different tracks for your background music. Experimenting with different elements in your edit to create a distinct character for your brand videos.
10. Review your edit
Once you’ve completed the first draft of your edit, it is a good idea to get an opinion from your colleagues or other video editors. Maybe the audio levels aren’t perfectly adjusted, or the color correction isn’t up to scratch. Having a second pair of eyes look at your video can help you fine-tune your edit to make sure it works well for your brand
With the right tools and a bit of planning, you’ll be well on your way to creating compelling, effective videos! Remember, great footage deserves spectacular editing.

How to plan a perfect kitchen layout?
Choosing a new kitchen is one of the most exciting projects when it comes to renovating the home. It can also be the most expensive, stressful and time-consuming. From picking the right style to finding a designer and agreeing the layout, there’s a lot to take on board. However tempted you are to rush into a showroom and choose your design, it’s vital that you take plenty of time to consider what it is you really want.Breaking the planning process into manageable steps will make the process easier. Think of it as a journey, and give each step all the time and consideration it needs.Whether this is your first, or you need a little help with planning your second or even third design, then read on.
1. Assess all your needs?
First, have a good clear-out, so you’re not factoring in items you haven’t used for years. Now take a look around your existing kitchen installation and make a list of all the things you like and dislike about it. This could be anything from how much storage there is – and where it is – to the types of appliances and colour of the cabinetry. This will help you focus on retaining or improving particular aspects.
Think about whether the actual space works or if it needs opening up or extending. The most common building work involves knocking down a wall between kitchen and dining room, so consider creating a more open plan feel if you have the chance.
It might help to ask yourself a few questions about how you want to use the space. Do you simply need a place to prepare meals, or are you dreaming of a multifunctional area where you can also have lunch or dinner with family and friends? Who do you cook for, what do you cook and how do you cook it?
2. Think about plumbing and heating
Will you be using existing plumbing for sinks and appliances or will you require additional pipe work? If you’re planning to include a kitchen island containing a sink or other appliances in your design, you need to ensure that plumbing and electricity supplies are in place before flooring is laid. Work out where appliances, both big and small, are going to be to ensure that you have plug points where you need them.
‘Wherever you decide to locate your sink, it’s a good idea to install your washing machine and dishwasher nearby. ‘It’ll help keep plumbing simple.’
Underfloor heating is a popular choice for kitchens as radiators can take up valuable space. If you’re opting for underfloor heating, this will need to be installed prior to laying the kitchen floor.
3. Consider lighting options
When planning lighting it’s a good idea to make the system quite flexible so you can regulate areas of your kitchen independently. Secondary lighting, such as spots above cooking and preparation areas, is also useful.
Consider your kitchen must-haves. Do you long for sleek worktops, a statement island or lots of cupboards for storage? Or are there some specific appliances that you think will make your life in the kitchen much easier?
Everybody likes to work in their own particular way and each person has a different list of priorities, so it’s important to write yours down right at the beginning to ensure your kitchen is tailored to your family’s specific needs. This will also save a lot of time and trouble when it comes to discussing your project with a kitchen specialist.
4. Be inspired?
How you want your kitchen to look is, of course, a very personal choice. It really helps to collect images and magazine tear sheets and put together a scrapbook or mood board. Also, make a note of surfaces, materials or accessories you’ve seen that work well together.
Even something as simple as a pretty plate, tile, piece of furniture or scrap of fabric can be a great starting point for choosing a theme or colours. Don’t worry too much about cost at this point, just focus on things that inspire you, and soon you’ll be able to identify styles you are drawn to.
5. Consult a kitchen designer
To get the absolute maximum from your space, input from a professional kitchen designer can prove invaluable. Their experience and expertise will offer you plenty of simple ideas – as well as innovative ones – that you might not have even considered.
Kitchen designers will also have up-to-the-minute knowledge of products, fixtures and fittings, and can source everything on your behalf. Ultimately, they’ll help ensure your new kitchen works as efficiently as possible.
Only agree on a quote for the design and installation of a kitchen once the designer has looked at the space. Once the design has been completed, make sure you have a full quotation for the cabinetry and installation. Always check what is included in the cost, including whether the company will oversee the project from start to finish.
Never pay a deposit of more than 65% of the total contract value and ensure you have a written schedule for further payments. Don’t pay in full until you have received delivery of your goods.?
6. Set your budget
Always be honest about your budget so that your designer can help you decide where to save and where to invest – even if you haven’t got large sums to spend. Open shelving is less expensive than closed cupboards, for example, while capacious low-level, pull-out storage may mean you need fewer wall units, which saves on cost.
It’s easy to get giddy when faced with a wealth of shiny appliances with countless programs and functions, so only invest in things you think you’ll genuinely use. And don’t forget to include installation fees, as well as the kitchen itself.
Finally, make sure your budget includes a 10 per cent contingency fund, to cover any unexpected extra costs. If you’re is a bind about where to splash the cash, here are our top tips on where to spend and where to save:
Always go for the best worktops you can afford, as they are one of the most hardworking elements of any kitchen. Granite, composite and solid surfaces are all good investments as they are tough, durable and will give your kitchen a luxurious finish.Next, make sure your cabinets are of good quality. Don’t be tempted to skimp on thi carcases, as they’ll not last very long. You want at least a 15mm thickness all round – if not more.Think about savings on your choice of doors. We can’t all afford rich wood veneers, so why not recreate the same look with a laminate or PVC foil finish instead? Even hi-gloss doors come in different price brackets depending on whether they are lacquered or laminated. ‘While they all essentially look the same, a lacquered kitchen can cost considerably more than the laminate equivalent.Spend wisely on appliances, too, buying the best oven and hob you can afford – but perhaps consider a less expensive brand for the laundry and do without the coffee machine and wine cooler. It’s all about compromise if your budget is under strain, so make sure you spend on the things that matter – you can always add luxury small appliances and accessories in years to come.
7. Call in the professionals
So, you’ve found your kitchen designer, chosen your layout and style and you’ve paid your deposit. What happens next? You need to find a team to install it.
It’s important to remember that the way your kitchen is installed can make all the difference. A bad fitter can make any kitchen look terrible, but a good one will ensure even inexpensive units look amazing.
It may be a simple refresh so you’ll only have the kitchen supplier and fitter to co-ordinator. However, if it’s a big project, then there might be builders, electricians and plumbers to consider, too. It’s important at this stage to get some form of project manager in hand, whether that’s yourself, your kitchen company or an architect. Everyone needs to be clear about what needs to be done when, as delays and mistakes in kitchen planning can be costly.
If you’re planning a larger refit or build, you may also need Planning Permission or Building Regulations approval. Visit the your local Planning Portal for further information.
Often your budget will dictate how much project management is needed. If you’re buying off the shelf from a DIY store you’d expect to have to employ and co-ordinate an variety of craftsmen including builders, plumbers and electricians. A number of mid-price kitchen companies provide fitting services but often you’ll have to get them to liaise with other trades for work outside their fitting remit. Always check with your kitchen company at the start about which services they can and can’t provide.
Even many bespoke companies will not undertake first-fit electrics or plumbing so you will have to co-ordinate these elements yourself. Some of the high-end bespoke companies do offer ‘turn key’ services, where they will co-ordinate all building plumbing and electrical work but be prepared to pay a premium for this service.
8. Choose your finishing touches?
Make your kitchen feel more coherent by subtly linking finishes – pair a timber breakfast bar with wooden stools, for instance, or upholster the seats with fabric that ties in with your splashback. Little details, such as cabinetry handles, can make a big difference and transform a simple white scheme.
Rather than buying everything from the same supplier, source furnishings and accessories from a variety of places, and mix things up to create an individual look. Unusual objects picked up on your travels or gorgeous vintage finds will all help to create a more homely and characterful environment.

The Petrolhead Corner – Breaking An Almost 80 Years Old Speed Record
Pendine Sands in the UK, Daytona Beach and Bonneville Salt Flats in the US, Hakskeen Pan desert in South Africa and Ehra Lessien in Germany. All places where, throughout history, land speed records have been broken. Specifically selected and/or built tracks that provide near-perfect circumstances; very long, very straight, very flat. One of the most emblematic records, however, is the land speed record set on an albeit closed, but very public stretch of road. And quite recently this record, which stood for almost 80 years, was broken by the mad scientist from Koenigsegg.
Mankind has had an ever-present and unquenchable appetite for all things related to speed. This is also the reason why there are hundreds of different categories in racing or land speed records. In the latter category, you’ll find numerous regulated classes. The most prominent one is the absolute land speed record, currently in the hands of the Thrust SSC at 1227.986kph. Back in 1997, this was the first time a land vehicle broke the sound barrier and that achievement hasn’t been matched or surpassed since. The team of Bloodhound LSR (we covered it when still known as the Bloodhound SSC and partnered with Rolex) wants to have a crack at it, by setting a goal of 1,000mph or roughly 1,609kph. It has been in development for several years no, with a top speed run scheduled for fall 2020.
Other than that, there is a land speed record set on public roads which is considerably lower in terms of top speed, and thus you would imagine broken a bit easier perhaps. But, as we are about to disclose, it took almost 80 years of technical progress to break it!
The record stems from one of the darkest periods in modern history as it was set by Nazi-backed Mercedes-Benz in 1938. On Friday the 28th of January in 1938, Mercedes-Benz lined up their W125 Rekordwagen on a closed section of the German highway with Rudolph Caracciola behind the wheel. The car had a 5.6-litre V12 engine producing 736bhp, an insane amount of power for that time. The Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen was a sleek-looking machine, with enclosed wheels and a long, swooping body to reduce drag as much as possible. Opening up the bodywork for cooling was deemed as unwanted as it would potentially cause too much friction. As a solution, blocks of ice were put in front of the radiators. Eventually, Caracciola achieved a top speed of 432.7kph (268.9mph), a record that stood until November of 2017.
On that very same day in 1938, Auto Union attempted to break the record as well, only to be trumped by Mercedes-Benz. With Bernd Rosemeyer, an equally legendary Grand Prix driver as Rudolph Caracciola, behind the wheel of the Auto Union Streamliner. Rosemeyer was warned by Caracciola about strong winds and was advised against attempting to break it. He went for it anyway, only to veer off track on his return run due to a sudden gust of wind, sending the car into a field, ultimately killing its driver. On his attempt though, he did achieve a higher top speed than his Mercedes-Benz competitor but since no return run was completed the record wasn’t valid. This tragically ended the career of one of the legendary drivers in the pre-war Grand Prix era.
Enter Koenigsegg. The Swedish manufacturer of hypercars, a term coined by founder Christian von Koenigsegg, is no strangers to records as they have several of these in their name. Producing some of the most powerful and fastest road cars on earth, they push the envelope with every single car they develop. The first model, the CC prototype was already an unconventional machine, mostly due to the unique construction of the doors, with a sort of double scissoring motion when opening and closing them. Since its launch in 1994, the brand has continued in their pursuit of building the ultimate road car. One of the few brands to succeed in making a name for themselves and finding a sustainable market of clientele, with astonishing models like the Agera, Agera RS, One:One, Regera and the latest Jesko and Gemera hypercars.
Alongside some incredible engineering and ground-breaking innovations, Koenigsegg achieved to break several records with their cars. One of which is the record of 0-400-0 set by the Agera RS in a mindboggling 36.44 seconds. Imagine that, accelerating from zero to 400 kilometres an hour to begin with, and then slowing down to a dead stop in a little over half a minute! Here’s footage of that 0-400-0 record-breaking run:
youtube
But the topic of this article was about breaking that land speed record on a public road, held by Mercedes-Benz for almost 80 years. It just so happens the same car (Agera RS) by the same brand (Koenigsegg) broke the record on a closed section of public road in the Nevada desert. The tricky thing is you need a road straight enough to be able to reach speeds like this, and wide enough to allow room to swerve, which is inevitable. It also needs to be flat enough to not have the car jump and skip over bumps and run the risk of losing control. Remember that at 250 miles per hour you are covering 110 meters every second! Any mistake at that speed is disastrous, to say the least.
On the 4th of November 2017, Koenigsegg lined up their then top-tier Agera RS for a top speed run and a crack at the nearly 80-year-old record. Bear in mind the stipulation for this record being attempted on a public road. The current fastest production car in the world is a Bugatti but the record was set on the Volkswagen owned Ehra-Lessien testing grounds in Germany, so not a public road. Important detail! The Koenigsegg Agera RS was introduced in 2015 and packed an all-mighty twin-turbo 5.0 litre V8 punch; 1,160bhp. In markets where E85 fuel is available, the power output is even higher. Combine this with a curb weight of just 1,325 kilo’s you end up with a very, VERY fast car.
A closed section of a Nevada highway, just outside of Las Vegas was the stage for the attempt at the record. If you look at footage from the top speed run, you can see the surface is far from flat and smooth. A run like this, to be officially certified, requires a run in both ways within an hour. The combined average of the two is recorded as the official achieved speed. Despite being rear-wheel drive only Koenigsegg has made an impact on how good their cars launch off the line. Traction is pretty much key, especially on a dirty, bumpy stretch of a public road. Here’s the official video of the event:
youtube
In the end, Koenigsegg test-driver Niklas Lilja set off quite calmly, but eventually managed a top speed of 457.49kph (284.55mph) in the first run. What is both astounding and surprising in the footage is how stable the car is, despite the obvious weaving from left and right (follow the white stripes to see what I mean). On the return run, the top speed was a bit lower, at 436.44kph (271.19mph) due to a headwind. The two-way average for the attempt was an incredible 449.97kph (277.87mph). Again, looking at the footage of the run, just check how fast the car accelerates from 200 to 300 kilometres for instance (only 7 seconds!) and how much ground the car covers at that kind of speeds. And what makes this achievement that little bit extra special is the fact that where the Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen was a purpose-built machine, the Koenigsegg Agera RS is a road-legal car. So, in theory, at least, you and I could attempt the same thing! We only need 7,7 million dollars to buy one!
All in all, Koenigsegg broke 5 records with their Agera RS during this attempt. Since then even faster, more powerful cars have been introduced, like the Jesko Absolut. No clue on whether it would be able to break the record or not, or even if Koenigsegg will attempt something like this again in the future.
Car and Driver explains the Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen and its 1938 record in detail, where Top Gear has the details about the five records set by the Agera RS in 2017.

Best Mirrorless Camera under $500
Mirrorless Camera has become the preference for many photographers today. Although there are still some who prefers the digital SLR, the number of those transitioning towards Mirrorless camera is getting larger and larger. Perhaps, you may not be familiar with this type of camera. Just like the name suggests, a mirrorless camera is simply that – does not contain a mirror in the lens. It is a modification of the digital SLR camera.
Best Mirrorless Camera under $500 For 2020
Name: Rating: Price on Amazon: Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 5.0 Canon EOS M100 Mirrorless Digital Camera 4.9 (Best Price Under $400)
What is a Mirrorless Camera?
Mirrorless Cameras are in fact Digital Cameras that provide the picture versatility and quality of professional Digital Single-Lens Reflex Cameras, along with mobility which comes closer to those of the more popular point and shoot digital cameras. These cameras are often called Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera since unlike the vast majority of Digital Cameras in the consumer market, these have a mechanism for lens changing in a convenient manner, as is performed with the professional ones.
The innovative design of these cameras preserve the Image Sensor Systems of the DSLR cameras which makes all of this attainable. This means that the quality factor of these cameras is not affected at all. Furthermore, the mirror which is common to Reflex mirrors is not incorporated, making these mirrorless cameras compact and very mobile, unlike the traditional DSLR cameras.
These cameras possess the Micro Four Thirds Systems. This micro 4:3 system has been specially designed by Panasonic and Olympus and is among the specifications made especially for these mirrorless cameras. This new original standard allows the minimization of the lens dimensions, without having to affect the picture quality too much.
Above that, the old SLR Four Third Lenses function very well on the mirrorless camera since they share most of the specifications used by the original 4:3 standard, though an adapter is necessary in such cases.
The viewfinder is another great characteristic of the mirrorless camera which is worth discussing. While the standard DSLRs function on an optical viewfinder that requires a mirror and a prism, this whole element has been removed with the mirrorless cameras. Taking its place is the Electronic Viewfinder. It is a reproduction of the original Viewfinder by allowing the photographer to observe the image through the sensor’s eyes rather than the lenses, similar to the LCD display that is situated on all the popular point and shoot cameras.
These mirrorless cameras have yet to completely seize the attention of the mass population due to the lack of a definite standard, as the mirrorless technology is quite a new one. If you are prepared to check out new technological advancements, you may want to go over the many reviews available for the models available in the market and ultimately select the Mirrorless camera which best suits your needs.
At the end of the day, the mirrorless cameras definitely delivers what they promise – taking great photos easily and quickly. Although they may be a bit more expensive than the standard camera, they are definitely a must try for any photo lover. If you haven’t yet checked them out, you’re missing out on the fun. Go ahead, give them a try!
Panasonic DMC-G5 Review
Panasonic has brought us another match-winner; maybe, let’s hope that it is one. But yes, it is a camera that is sure to make you go Wow! Not many cameras have the tendency to make their users get this expression on them. The best and the most important of all, Panasonic has not created this product for any professional, but it is for people like us, you and me. Let us now complete the Panasonic DMC-G5 review.
Body & Design
The body of the Panasonic DMC-G5 is a strong and sturdy plastic body. You might say that it is weak due to the plastic, but it is actually not. It is pretty small and portable with a size of 8.3 x 12 x 7.1 (H x W x D in cm). It has been provided with a nice large and bright 3 inch touchscreen to control and view. Also the camera has a detachable mirrorless lens and a rubber grip on the side so that the camera can be held steady without the fear of it slipping.
Operation & Control
The operability of the camera is pretty good. It is not quite hard to learn to use the camera. Most of the controls are pretty standard just like the rest of the cameras with the difference of little here and there to mark its extraordinarily from the others. It has a twisting control panel to browse through various modes and menus of still photos, videos, etc. Other minute controls and settings can be reached and changed via the 3-inch capacities touchscreen provided.
Panasonic DMC-G5 Performance Review
The performance of the camera is outstanding. Its 16 MP camera lens makes sure the images are perfectly crystal clear. It is loaded up with many features like the image stabilization program, autofocus, brightness monitor, face detection, etc. It has various colors and shooting modes in it that gives you loads of options to shoot the picture according to your liking. The camera has a 16.05 MP MOS sensor and a Venus Engine which lets you shoot real high-quality images and videos.
The camera has the capability to shoot images of resolution up to 4608 x 3456 and videos of 1080p HD at 60 fps. What more could you possibly need from your camera? It is maybe the best one available in the market right now. The camera has a 4X optical zoom and an aperture of F/3.5- F/5.6 with shutter speeds of 8 – 1/1600.
It has an inbuilt image stabilization program in it. Along with with it there are two autofocus programs provided in it, the Light speed autofocus which allows for clear pictures of moving sources if you are moving and the Eye sensor autofocus which used the electronic viewfinder to automatically focus when your eyes face the focus. Both these great features and loads of many other small programs work together for the best pictures so that you can easily capture and store all your memories.
What Makes A Camera Mirrorless?
Digital SLR camera has large mirrors on the inside. These occupy large space on the inner side of the camera making is large and heavy. Nevertheless, these mirrors allow better manual control and the autofocus is also very fast. The arrangement of the mirrors on the inner side of this camera also ensures faster bouncing of the image on the viewfinder. The speed with which this camera does this makes it a preference for some photographers.
On the other hand, a mirrorless camera is designed for people who want a light and small-size camera. This is because size and weight are the major drawbacks of the digital SLR camera. Manufacturers have created a camera that is small, light and with superior image quality. This has been made possible by the removal of mirrors that increase the size and weight of a digital SLR camera. By eliminating these mirrors, the manufacturers have greatly reduced the camera size especially its depth.
These mirrors are either replaced by electronic alternatives or eliminated permanently. However, other features such as the manual controls, fast autofocus, and speedy performance are still maintained.
A mirrorless camera comes with physically larger sensors. These are responsible for capturing images of higher quality. This becomes apparent when taking images in places with low light. The larger the sensors, the better the image quality. This is one feature that comes out clearly when evaluating major differences between a digital SLR camera and the mirrorless camera.
Apart from being light and smaller, the majority of these cameras will have intelligent modes that are automatic. These are designed for the purpose of helping photographers get better results. For instance, you may be in need of a portrait image. You want it to have a good blurry background but not sure of the right camera settings. These modes will help you achieve this. Even when you do not know the right settings to help you achieve this, the automatic mode will intelligently help you achieve the look you want. With this mode, you just choose blur background and the camera will do the rest.
A mirrorless camera does not have a viewfinder. Therefore, you use the LCD when taking photos. This is similar to the compact camera.
What Mirrorless Camera Equipment to Buy?
Every digicam really needs mirrorless camera components to function better. Camera equipment incorporates a memory-card together with a soft camera scenario to defend it from any damage. Those who want to take a trip need to consider a solid camera case to provide more security to the camera. All-digital cameras need washing mirrorless camera add-ons like the cleanup system. It isn’t preferable to clear your camera optics with a top, water, hands or breath of atmosphere. The system has a sleek and clean cloth, a blower brush and also a small bottle that has a solution to wash lens and cleaning tissues.
An additional of the camera accessories you’ve to consider may be the tripod. It allows preventing the going of the camera when shutter speed drops. Should you’d prefer a closeup capture of the item(macrophotography), the tripods are necessary mirrorless camera equipment. Additional important digicam extras are batteries; you may obtain an extra battery. Just about all the digicam batteries are rechargeable and you need to be sure that you recharged both batteries prior to going to get a photo-shoot until you desire to be uncomfortable when you wish to improve battery throughout the period.
Another essential camera add-ons are camera stabilizers, camcorder backing consists of internal camera assistance that’s a roll axis to provide stability on snapshot development. A camcorder stabilizer that is easily adaptable a number of digicam patterns through a versatile mounting design and variable fat managing method could also give you more quality for the money. You need to use it for several various camera versions, from lighter weight or smaller sized mirrorless camera to some movie camcorder (offered it’s from your weight class for that unique camera stabilizers). If you’d want to look at a photo without having to fear, you should make certain that you’ve all of the desired mirrorless camera extras before going out for shooting.

The best gadgets of 2019
Bigger, lighter ultraportable laptops
Cherlynn Low Reviews Editor
Good lord, did laptops get a facelift this year. After all the progress that notebooks as a category made last year, I wasn’t expecting to see much more improvement in 2019. I was wrong. This year, Dell launched a new XPS 13 2-in-1, which my colleague Devindra called the “perfect ultraportable,” and HP released the Elite Dragonfly, which the company markets as “lighter than air.”
No device is actually lighter than air, but this year, mainstream laptops certainly got a whole lot lighter and thinner than before while growing more powerful, without sacrificing battery life. That’s to be expected, after years of incremental improvements, but we also have to give Intel a little credit. Its Project Athena program rolled out this year, spurring the development of more compact, lightweight ultraportables that last all day. Shout out also to the Galaxy Book Flex and Ion, which launched late in the year and proved that Samsung can make gorgeous, super sleek notebooks. And even though the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Book S didn’t actually arrive in time to make this year’s list, my hands-on with it left me impressed by its lightweight, attractive exterior.
Aided by potent processors like NVIDIA’s Studio products, laptop makers also delivered powerhouse notebooks targeted at creators who need the beef for editing multiple 4K video streams but don’t want gaudy or chunky gaming machines. Acer and ASUS both made devices for these purposes, with the ConceptD and ProArt StudioBook sub-brands respectively. These proved that laptops could pack plenty of muscle without weighing a ton.
But 2019 also saw the arrival of the LG Gram 17 — a surprisingly sleek machine for having a 17-inch screen — and the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3. Apple also released a new 16-inch MacBook Pro, delighting power users and fans of usable keyboards. While these larger laptops still have their flaws, the fact that they’re no longer chunky slabs of metal and plastic is a promising sign of bigger and better to come in 2020 and beyond.
iPhone 11 Pro
Mat Smith Bureau Chief, UK
It’s hard for any smartphone to break out in 2019. Especially in a year where the industry was obsessed with folding gimmicks and a 5G network not ready for prime time. Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro launched with a brighter screen, was predictably faster and has better — and more — cameras. It’s costlier, sure. In fact, it’s Apple’s most expensive phone ever. But it also tackles one of the perennial issues with nearly all smartphones: mediocre battery life.
The 11 Pro Max is a barely noticeable 0.02 inches thicker than the iPhone XS Max, but with that extra space and a new L-shaped battery cell, the latest 11 Pro Max adds roughly four more hours of use compared to its predecessor. My iPhone 11 Pro Max consistently clocks almost two days on a single charge. It’s better than any smartphone I’ve owned in the last few years.
And then there are the cameras. After leading the smartphone camera revolution, a decade ago, Apple has recently lagged behind the competition. With the iPhone 11 Pro, it’s caught up. In fact, the company has arguably reclaimed the top spot. From Deep Fusion, which adds improved textures and detail, to the ultra-wide-angle cameras for squeezing in crowds, landscapes and more, to the improved night shooting mode, the iPhone 11 Pro is on equal photography footing with the Pixel 4 or the Galaxy Note 10.
There are other highlights, too. The 11 Pro phones come with a high-speed USB-C charger (and a USB-C to Lightning cable), making charging considerably faster. It also means I can connect my iPhone to my year-old MacBook Pro’s USB-C ports without a dongle. Instead of having to plug it in overnight, I can charge the iPhone 11 Pro Max to 50 percent in just thirty minutes. Better battery life isn’t the sexiest feature, but it’s never been more appreciated.
Powerful processors and GPUs
Steve Dent Associate Editor
The PC market is no longer moribund, thanks in large part to devices that are more interesting and powerful. That’s certainly true in the gaming and content creation markets, and for that, we can largely thank AMD and NVIDIA. At the same time, we’ve never had so many lightweight but powerful laptops, and we give Intel credit there.
The processor of the year for gaming and content creation is AMD’s $750, 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X. Intel still has the edge in gaming with its Core i9 9900K, sure, and that model is also cheaper at $500. But the Ryzen 9 3950X is really close, and once you switch over to content creation tasks, those eight extra cores let it destroy the 9900K.
Best of all, AMD’s new Ryzen chips have forced Intel to drop prices, making powerful PCs cheaper across the board. For instance, Intel’s 18-core 9980XE launched in 2017 cost a cool $2,000, but its successor, the 18-core 10980XE costs just half of that. That’s because Intel had to react to AMD’s Threadripper 3970X, which has 32 cores and costs $1,999.
Last year, we called out NVIDIA’s RTX 2080 Ti as one of the worst products of 2018, thanks to its high price and abysmal ray-tracing support. To its credit, though, NVIDIA has introduced new features that make its RTX lineup more desirable, particularly the RTX Studio drivers. Those put NVIDIA’s ray tracing to work, speeding up 3D apps like Blender, and making video and photo editing quicker and more stable, too. On top of that, games like Metro Exodus and Control are finally making better use of ray tracing, and we can expect more of the same in 2020.
Intel is losing in the high-end CPU market, but it’s still thumping AMD when it comes to laptops. Devices like Dell’s XPS 13 2-in-1 show that Intel has crammed a ton of power into low-energy, long-lasting devices, with big improvements in on-board graphics. Anyone getting a PC with a 10th-gen Intel CPU will see much better performance than last year’s machines, and we’ll have lots of great notebooks to look forward to next year.
Sonos and IKEA Symfonisk Table Lamp
Igor Bonifacic Contributing Writer
We’ll admit: Sonos and IKEA’s Symfonisk table lamp looks goofy. But get past its unusual appearance and you’ll find one of the most versatile gadgets released this year.
As an affordable entry into the Sonos ecosystem, the Symfonisk lamp has almost everything you could want. Setup via the Sonos app is easy whether you’re adding to an existing sound system or starting from scratch. What’s more, the lamp sounds almost as good as the more expensive Sonos One, which is one of the best speakers you can buy. Best of all, even though it’s not a premium product, Sonos didn’t skimp on features like AirPlay 2 compatibility.
What you won’t find are any microphones onboard for Google Assistant and Alexa support. Some people might prefer this; it’s one less device listening to their conversations. For everyone else, it’s easy enough to integrate the lamp with your existing smart speakers for voice control.
But the Symfonisk lamp isn’t just a good speaker, it’s also a great lamp. Although it uses smaller and less common E12 light bulbs, it still adds a lot of warmth to a room. Its versatility as both a speaker and a lamp means you’ll consistently get a lot of use out of it. Add to that its low price and the Symfonisk lamp is one of those rare collaborations that actually delivers the best of both partner companies.
8BitDo SN30 Pro+
Kris Holt Contributing Writer
The Nintendo Switch is a fantastic system, with great games and unrivaled portability for a console. But its standard controller setup is far from ideal.
Joy-Cons are terrific if you’re hanging out with a friend and want to fire up your Switch for co-op action. But when you have to use both Joy-Cons for a single-player game, particularly one that requires dual thumbsticks, they’re not the most practical. In fact, the right thumbstick is positioned too awkwardly to comfortably use for very long. But thankfully, there are plenty of other options out there.
The Switch Pro Controller is a solid alternative, but I much prefer 8BitDo’s excellent SN30 Pro+. It feels far more natural to hold than Nintendo’s controllers, and I have no problem using it for hours at a time. I love the SNES/DualShock 4 mashup approach to the design, too. I haven’t encountered any significant latency issues, and its compatibility with Android, Raspberry Pi, PC and macOS is a nice bonus. The customization options on the 8BitDo Ultimate Software are also terrific and a boon for accessibility.
The SN30 Pro+ makes the Switch even more of a joy, especially for playing Overwatch or Fortnite on the go. I only wish 8BitDo included a headphone jack for more flexibility, especially for when I dock my Switch and I’m across the room from my TV. Still, the controller is an almost-perfect solution for my Switch setup.
Mixer
Jessica Conditt Senior Editor
Mixer has come a long way in a short time. As recently as last year, we were describing Mixer as “Microsoft’s Twitch rival” in headlines, worried that people wouldn’t recognize the service by name. Today, Mixer has 30 million monthly active users, exclusivity deals with a roster of high-profile streamers and plenty of practice in the tech-news spotlight. Mixer has Ninja. What more needs to be said?
Not only did Mixer steal Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, the world’s most popular streamer, from Twitch in August, but a handful of other popular names have followed suit. This year, Mixer has picked up Cory “King Gothalion” Michael, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek and Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler, and Twitch has only recently responded with exclusive acquisitions of its own. Of course, the follower counts of Twitch’s most recent members — Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo, Saqib “LIRIK” Zahid and Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar — reach 10.73 million combined, while Ninja alone had 14.7 million followers when he ditched Twitch. Ninja racked up more than 1 million followers in his first week on Mixer.
At one point, it seemed as if Twitch was the undisputed, permanent champion of video game streaming, but a handful of moderation missteps and the loss of key personalities this year have left the company vulnerable. Of course, all of the main live-streaming platforms have the backing of massive tech companies — Twitch is owned by Amazon, Mixer is the property of Microsoft and (surprise!) YouTube Gaming is run by Google — so they have significant runway to try new things, fail and try again. But in 2019, Mixer got a lot of steps right and laid the foundation for the service’s continued growth in 2020.
