one thing i really appreciate about gw2 is that its the first game that actually makes me feel like being lgbt is normal in the setting.
often game devs love to claim that its completely normal in their setting... and in the end it means every single couple ever is straight, the storytelling still implies heavily that its not something that is fully accepted, player character is allowed to be gay without straight up being called with slurs, and there is one gay or trans npc w/ their whole existence revolving around this.
but in gw2 it actually is normal in the setting. among random irrelevant npcs there is women discussing about their wives and girlfriends, and men talking about their husbands and boyfriends. a random ambient dialog drops information that there is trans magic. more important npcs being lgbt is not something that is shown with huge great fanfare highlighting it, its treated as normal part of the characters and their stories. its genuinely something that is completely casual and normal.
#tho little disclaimer: the trans line is not really well written imo#but since yao is there i do feel like anet has got their shit bit better together on this regard
