Iām gonna be honest, I thought going into Winter 2023 that this was gonna be a bit of a dump season. One of those seasons where anime just kinda sits around farting and we all wait patiently for the actual Good Shit to start coming out again while pretending to catch up on our backlogs.
That... has not been the case.
Bofuri Season 2: Seriously, how does this show get so many incredible action cuts?
Buddy Daddies: Look, itās probably not gonna be gay, but Spy x Family meets Tiger and Bunny is something we all need in our lives, okay?
Campfire Cooking in Another World: Couldnāt even last a full episode of this one before my eyes glazed over. Dropped.
Endo and Kobayashi Live: Now this is pretty charming! Pity the animationās such garbage, though.
Giant Beasts of Ars: Itās a damn good season for fantasy anime, yāall.
Handyman Saitou in Another World: Could actually end up a halfway decent isekai SOL if it stops being so goddamn terrible at structure.
High Card: This is exactly my brand of Anime Bullshit(tm) and I am so on board.
Ippon Again: An actually great female-led sports anime? With major A Place Further Than the Universe vibes? Do not sleep on this one, yāall.
Kaina of the Great Snow Sea: Damn. Good. Season. For. Fantasy. Anime.
Kubo Wonāt Let Me Be Invisible: As far as Takagi-san knock-offs go, this one is pleasant enough.
The Magical Revolution of the Oh Fuck It These LN Titles are Impossible to Remember Just Call it āMagiRevoā: Buckle up, folks, we might just have another Actually Good Isekai on our hands.
Malevolent Spirits Mononogatari: Itās Noragami but shit. Dropped at 1 episode.
Nagatoro-san Season 2: Yeah, turns out Iām still not above the occasional well made trash.
Nier Automata: Genuine question, is this gonna be an acceptable substitute for the game or will I just be spoiling the experience for myself?
Onimai: I fucking hate the Mushoku Tensei studio so much and I hate myself even more for deciding to stick with this one.
Reborn to Master the Blade: This one might be soon for the chopping block, but Iām holding out hope that its story can overcome its middling production values. Weāll have to wait and see.
Revenger: GEN UROBUCHIāS BACK BABY YEEEEEEHAW
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale: Take notes, Every Isekai: this is how you explore slavery in a fantasy setting.
The Tale of Outcasts: Feels like a 13-year-oldāsedgyĀ Ancient Magus Bride fanfiction. Honestly, though? I kind of really dig it.
Tomo-Chan is a Girl: LET. TOMBOYS. BE. TOMBOYS. WITHOUT. SHAMING. THEM. FOR. IT. Dropped at episode 2.
Tokyo Revengers Season 2: At this point, Iām just watching out of morbid curiosity of how bad the mangaās ending supposedly was.
Trails of Cold Steel: The Northern War: Easily the weakest fantasy anime of the lot. Giving it one more episode to impress me, otherwise it gets the drop.
Trigun Stampede: Yāall are buggin, the CG here is incredible.
Tsurune Season 2: Good god, the glow-up from season one is nuts. KyoAni just does not miss.
Vinland Saga Season 2: Okay, manga readers, letās see if watching a bunch of sad men farm is as incredible as you say.

do you like reading fantasy? do you like magical swords, wizards and dragons? do you want to get into anime/manga but dont know how? well im a weeb and a fantasy nerd who has nothing better to do so here are some recs ig
Do you like the Cosmere for the convoluted magical systems and the creative ways the magic is used in fights? Watch Jujutsu Kaisen. First season has 24 episodes, there is one prequel movie (good place to start too) and a second season coming soon. You could also read the manga, but I personally think the anime is easier to follow and overall more enjoyable to me (on the other hand, the manga comes with Extensive notes on how the magic works so you might prefer that). Another good show is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (on Netflix, 64 episodes).
Do you like the Cosmere for the interconnected large universe and The Lore(tm)? Get into Fate. You know how Cosmere fans loooove talking about timelines and where to start with the Cosmere? You can do that again with Fate, even more complicated this time! A good place to start would be either Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works or Fate/Zero. Both are on Netflix, UBW has 26 episodes and Zero has 25. You could go straight to the source material, the visual novels, but I haven't played them so I can't talk about them.
Do you like Realm of the Elderlings, or historical fantasy? Watch Vinland Saga. The first season has 24 episodes, second one is currently coming out weekly (close to finishing), and it is on Netflix. Haven't read the manga but it seems to have some really good art. Another option would be (I think) Berserk, but since I haven't read/watched that, I can't really say. SIDENOTE but if you like Black Sails you should also check out Vinland Saga im so serious. BS isnt fantasy but i needed to get that out there.
Do you like The Locked Tomb? This one is quite obvious but watch Revolutionary Girl Utena, it inspired the books *a lot*. It has 39 episodes, a movie and a manga, general consensus is that the manga is not very good so just watch the show. Look up trigger warnings. And you might also want to check out Puella Magi Madoka Magica (the original show has just 12 episodes, theres a lot of extra content but I have not seen/read the rest so i would say its not necessary).
Do you like an epic adventure and a giant world filled with amazing places to explore? Completely unironically you SHOULD read or watch One Piece. Fantasy fans already get into gargantuan book series with thousands of pages what is a thousand episodes to you? I assure you it is worth it. Hunter x Hunter is also good, I can't say much about it because I just started it recently.
More general recs under read more.
Little Witch Academia. Cute fluffy show about teenage witches. Some similarities with The Owl House on Disney.
Witch Hat Atelier. Manga only for now, follows a young girl who gets taken in as a witch's apprentice, has some darker elements.
Re: Zero. Guy from our world gets sent to another world and then dies a bunch of times. Psychological horror in a fantasy setting.
Akatsuki no Yona. Princess goes on an adventure to find legendary dragons and save her kingdom. Some romance.
Vanitas no Carte. Vampires in a steampunk setting. Gay (?)
Black Clover. Basically whatever you think Naruto is about, but shorter and more goofy. Boy with no magic wants to the greatest wizard of all time, gets beefy.
Ghibli movies: Kiki's Delivery Service, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, The Castle in the Sky, The Cat Returns, Spirited Away. These movies are more on the magical realism / low fantasy side.
Noragami. Supernatural. Gods and spirits are real and walk among us, the story follows a god who has no followers and a girl who accidentally becomes half-spirit. Some cool fights. Really great music.
Shadows House. Creepy house where shadow people live, along with their "living dolls".
Dungeon Meshi. Manga with upcoming anime, havent read it but seems like a fun adventure with some horror elements (?) but mostly about cooking and monsters.
#welp#i wish i had more interesting recs sadly im basic#take these with a grain of salt i made this out of boredom and a need to distract myself so i didnt spend too much time on this

22.12.2023
I'm sad that I couldn't bring myself to write journals lately, because fun stuff happened! But I can't write them now, it's too late and I forget stuff easly. So let's write about today.
I had silly dreams today. First one was about me, my best friend and our friend A at a book store. I was buying Noragami, Hanako and something else and one of our schools PE teachers was working there for some reason?? It was funny. Than we walked out of the store and a boy from my class was walking around the shopping mall eating icecream. He walked up to our geography teacher who happened to be there too and told her that another boy from my class works in America and that he earns 50 dolars a month. My secound dream was about me going back home from school I suppose. I wanted to take a bus to my village but I took a train??? I have NEVER been in a train before. So I sat in the free space in a train, in something that reminds me of a small room, with 4 to 5 different people and the ride had begun. I was looking outside the trains window and I was figures of deers, in different poses and they were looking like real animals, but like, frozen? It made me creep out a little bit. And after some time bizzare things started to happen. Some kind of a weird monster got in the train and we had to fight it. At first everyone froze and were scared to move but I got so scared that I bit the monster. It had multiple heads and I started to bite them off. And so I defeted this creature with help of other people. I think that the monster attack had more stages/phases after this but I woke up soon after so I don't remember much.
When I woke up I've eaten breakfast that my dad did for me and soon after that a mailman came to our house with a package for me. I was very happy because it was my package with Sailor Moon Eternal Edition volume 1. I love Sailor Moon, and it's a very sentimental anime for me. I was happy that it's avaible at my country as a manga again. I started to read it imidiately. I really liked it. I really want to rewatch first 2 seasons and continue on watching Sailor Moon but I'm too busy watching other anime right now. Maybe after I will finish Inuyasha.
I also cleaned around the house today. It's Christmas soon and I had a mess in my room so I had to take care of it. I rearranged my furniture a little bit. I like the way it is now.
I've played minecraft a little bit today too. My best friend made a server with their friends so I was invated to play with them. I wandered around a little bit and I need to start building my house tommorow.
Today was due for my school powerpoint project but I think I'm to tired to do it at night so I will just leave it for tommorow. I feel bad about it but oh well. I hope my teacher won't be mad.

my all time favs are haikyuu and your lie in april !! i started watching in middle school as a deal to get my friend to listen to kpop LMAO š on that note svt needs to sing an anime ost ASAP because run to you and together... woozi i know you got another one in you!!! (btw pls do tell me about those underrated shows!!) -prom anon
I LOOOVE YOUR LIE IN APRIL!!! i had a big haikyuu phase back in summer 2020 kfnakfk i met so many good friends because of it too šš i soooo agree with that i know woozi would be cheesed to produce an anime ost š„¹š„¹š„¹ i watched that one 5 hour vlive of him ranking all those anime and iād never felt so seen before KFJSKFJSK but hmmmm ok well . my top recs are always always going to be fruits basket (2001 version and remake!) and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood :ā)
but for underrated shows if you like a good historical action/romance, yona of the dawn is literally SO good people always forget about it when talking about good shoujo!! the next few shoujo im about to list arenāt exactly underrated in the shoujo world but in terms of the greater anime fanbase is sorta overlooked is ao haru ride!! super cute high school romance i think fondly of it! andddd hmmm this is less approachable but i also really like chihayafuru :ā) AND. oh my god. this one anime called kamisama hajimemashita (or kamisama kiss in the english title) ITS SO GOOOOOODDDD i wish more ppl talked about it ššššš but iām not gonna lie a lot of shoujo that are considered classics didnāt exactlyā¦..Age well without nostalgia kfjakfnwkfk which is why iām not recommending Too many š„²
a good action anime i think isnāt mentioned Nearly enough is noragami :ā) its sooo heartfelt and the characters hurt me so bad but i love them so much and i need a season 3 stat!!!!!! and demon slayer isnāt underrated At All but i do still really really like it šš«¶ i have other action anime recs that fall under a more like . darker/more eccentric vibe that ill refrain from recommending for now cause iām not sure if youāre into that genre but :ā) if youāre ever interested lmk š«¶
also if you liked your lie in april for the music aspect of it thereās this one anime called kono oto tomare thatās about this koto club in high school and how they grow in both koto and themselves and their friendship in each otherā¦.šššš its so good im so serious ā¦ā¦.
ALSO FOR SAD ANIMEEEEE OMG. ok not underrated but i recommend it every time . anohana: the flower we saw that dayā¦.THIS ANIME CHANGED ME FUNDAMENTALLY AS A PERSON IM SO SERIOUSā¦ā¦ (i can make a whole other recommendation list for anime Movies that i think everyone should watch . but ill refrain from that so this post doesnāt get Too long fjwkfjdk) but a good like. oh my gosh this anime makes me cry when i think about it but march comes in like a lionā¦. its definitely not for everyone like the tone is so sad and melancholic but its so healing šš you could find it a little boring considering a lot of the plotpoints center around shogi but like THATS NOT WHAT RLY MATTERS HERE ā¦..its all about the Feelingā¦ā¦ā¦..
but yeah i have. so many recs i could talk about this for days but i donāt wanna recommend something that you might not like so šššš iām stopping myself Here even though there are so many personal favorites of mine that i adore JFNSKFK i hope i gave you an anime in this list that you havenāt heard of before!!
#q&a ā prom anon#a lot of the anime here tho im like . the anime comes with a footnote of āREAD THE MANGA AFTERā#like theres so much content thst ppl miss out bc it wasnt adapted and it prbly will never be adaptedā¦..i punch a wall

i started noragami for the first time and i am longing for your kaijou regalia au
I hope you enjoy it! I adore the world-building Noragami a lot. Granted I've only seen the first anime season so far, but one day! One day I will get to Aragoto!
I too occasionally long for the Regalia AU. š„ŗ (If only there was someone who would write that...)
At some point, I started writing a continuation picking up right after Sacred arrows. And then I got distracted by other projects... Here's a bit of a peek under the cut. Hopefully one day I can get back to it.
Mai's silks rippled and flowed, silent as their footsteps as they rounded the table and lowered into seiza at Seto's side. Sunlight danced off their rhinestone-decorated nails, a horrible gaudy fashion trend picked up from mortals, as they reached for his coat collar. He intercepted the hand and squeezed the captured wrist as a warning.
But Mai was not so easily dissuaded. None of the Inari god collective were.
"Don't be like that, Seto." Mai dropped their teasing expression in favor of something solemn. "I'm concerned for your wellbeing on behalf of my absent brethren."
Seto stiffened. That momentary hesitation was all the opening Mai required to shake his hold and fold down the flipped collar. With a light pat, they flattened the fabric and grasped his shirt collar. Hot summer air and their warm breath tingled along the nape of his neck. Mai's studious gaze felt like a physical weight against his shoulder blade's Blight-irritated skin.
"Does your new pet know?" they asked.
"No," replied Seto, staring straight ahead. His face was fixed in neutral.
"Does he not know about Blight? Or does he not know he's given it to you?" The tension in Mai's voice wound tighter.
Silence.
"Setoā"
"Neither. He's a creature ruled by passions. Dim-witted ones. Even if I educate him on Blight, he won't be able to help himself. I'd be wasting my breath."
A storm cloud marred their beautiful features. "Then you must renounce him."
"No."
"You can take another Regalia," they argued.
"From where? Every suitable candidate is immediately snatched up by every power-hungry god in this forsaken city. You have half a dozen alone, and none of them are combat-capable. He may be an idiot, but I need him if I want toā"
Whap!
Seto caught himself on the edge of the low table, white-knuckling the wood and gritting his teeth against the stinging pain in his shoulder. Wild-eyed, he turned to glare at the other god, their hand still held aloft in mid-air after slapping Seto's Blight.
"You overgrown kitsune. I should skin you for that," he hissed.
Mai crossed their arms over their chest and huffed. "I did it for your own good. Someone has to slap some sense into you if you won't listen. I could smell the Blight on you as soon as you came into the room."
That gave Seto pause. The patch of Blight was no bigger than a fist's diameter. He studying it every night after cleansing it with purifying water. Annoying, yes. But nothing to be alarmed about yet. He chalked it up to Mai's vulpine nose that they sensed the corruption so readily. Most other gods would not have noticed.
"It's under control," he said at last.
"You can't keep a lid on it forever. Impurities manifest both ways. Your pet will notice something sooner or later. Especially when he discovers a phantom eye in his back!" Mai threw both hands into the air.
"I'm monitoring the situation. We're nowhere close to that stage."
"Only because he has yet to commit a true sin. What will you do when he does?" demanded Mai.
Seto would renounce him. Of course, he would. Seto didn't intend to die. Not yet. Not here in this crowded forsaken city. Not before he uncovered Mokuba's fate, whether he still lived or had perished.
But he also wouldn't do that until he had no other recourse.
#series: The Price of Devotion#yugioh#puppyshipping#violetshipping#my wips#replies#anonymous#i sure am promising a lot of one day's here#but ahhhh! god Seto and regalia Katsuya learning to trust and depend on each other#joukai asks

Anime I Watched in Quarantine
With some of the restrictions being lifted, I wanted to make a sort of master post to see just how much Iāve watched in my time off. Plus, I wanted to share something more lighthearted with everyone.
All of these anime will be rated on a 1-10 scale, 10 meaning masterpiece, 1 meaning complete garbage. Iāll also share what I liked/didnāt like about each show. This list will go in chronological order, and will encompass all anime from 3/13 - 6/13. Multiple Seasons will be grouped together.Ā
1. Beastars - 8/10Ā
I dig how human and down-to-earth Beastars is. The pacing was a nice and the animation was unexpectedly great! Itās driving force is its characters and their interactions. Felt a little slow at times, and Juno annoys me, but thatās okay. Iāll be watching season 2.
2. Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun - 8/10Ā
Oh my god! This visuals for this were absolutely wonderful! It did feel a little cliche at times, I wonāt lie. But, I still loved all of these characters and the nice balance between creepy and comedy.Ā
3. Ao No Exorcist - 6/10Ā
I posted about this one after I finished it. The ending really pissed me off. I feel like if I had watched this when I was 13, I wouldāve given it a higher score. Compared to some of the other shounen Iāve watched, this felt a bit basic. That doesnāt mean I still didnāt like it. Still have to get around to watching season 2...
4.Ā Kaichou wa Maid-sama! 6.5/10
Shoujo usually isnāt my cup of tea. Maid-sama was a nice way to ease into the cliches of shoujo. Misaki is a great protagonist and the ending Maid-sama was so satisfying. Iām only giving it a low score because of its slow pacing and lack of certain character development.Ā
5.Ā Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki NingyouĀ - 7/10
Iām a big Violet Evergarden fan to begin with, so of course I liked this movie. It did not resonate with me as much as the series itself, but I still enjoyed it. Kyoto animation is never disappointing in their visuals and sound designĀ
6.Ā Ā Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - 8/10Ā
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren - 6.5/10Ā
Chuunibyou was a breath of fresh air for me. It was so different from all other romance anime I had seen at the time. It for sure has a slice of life vibe to it, but it was still so good! It reminded me of being in middle school and myĀ āchuunibyouā phase. The second season was not as enjoyable as the first. I guess I just had higher expectations for Rikka and Yuuta.Ā
7. Dr. Stone - 7/10
Dr. Stone is honestly such a perfect shounen for me. Iām a science nerd, and with taking AP Chem this year it was kind of nice to sorta apply my knowledge. This show also has some of the best reaction images ever. The tone, however, is a little inconsistent which made it hard to keep watching. I do love the relationship between Senku and his Dad, that whole sub-plot was so endearing.
8. Oshiete! Galko-chan - 6/10
This one only gets a low score because its so short and the op takes up like half an episode. This show had been in the back of my mind for a while. I decided to watch it after seeing a video essay discussing it. Its masterful subversion of tropes and stereotypes was refreshing. The message of this show is so positive, and everyone can benefit from watching something like this.Ā Ā
9. Mairimashita Iruma-kunĀ - 5/10Ā
The second half of Mairimashita Iruma-kun was so much better. Iām not completely sure why I didnāt like this as much as I should have. Overall, its a really average show. The comedy (and musical numbers???) give this show and charismatic and chaotic vibe. Iām someone who focuses primarily on character-character interactions, and this show definitely had it. It isnāt monogatari levels of dialogue but itās still nice. For the studioās low budget, they were able to make a really bright and colorful show. Iāll be watching season 2.Ā Ā
10. Byousoku 5 Centimeter - 8/10
Very. VERY. Pretty!! This one was another one that didnāt completely resonate with me emotionally. I still loved the story and the way it was told. Its not like Your Name or Tenki no Ko, itās realistic and grounded.
11. Mob Psycho 100 - 8/10
Mob Psycho 100 II - 9/10Ā
Style alone made Mob Psycho 100 so impressive. By the second half of each season I was emotional invested in Mob and his whole journey. Season 2 is receiving a higher score because it was able to make me cry. Thatās something I NEVER expected. Iām mad I didnāt watch this sooner. It is a great balance of action, comedy, and heart.Ā
12. Noragami Aragoto - 8/10Ā
Not sure why I put off Norogamiās second season for so long. I absolutely loved it. The focus on Bishimon was a nice change of pace and it was great to see Yukine develop more as a character and begin to loose his arrogance. Kazuma was my favorite character in all of this. His ability to affect the people around him was presented nicely. I was emotionally invested the whole way through, and Iāll probably pick up the manga.Ā
13. Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji - 3/10
Ah yes. My least favorite thing on planet earth. This is a wonderful example of Shoujo at its worst. Their relationship was incredibly toxic, and the characters themselves were poorly developed and generic. The whole time all I could think was that I was watching normalized Stockholm Syndrome. Our MC deserves so much better.Ā
14. Youjo Senki - 6/10
Iāll be honest, I wasnāt expecting to like Youjo Senki as much as I did. Iām not usually one for iesekai. The action was great, but the use of CGI bogged down scenes. I do NOT really like the protagonist that much because she came across as apathetic. Towards the end, I started to like her more. This was also my first military/warfare-focused anime. If either a movie or second season is made, I will probably not watch it.Ā
15. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - 6.5/10
I wanted to like Madoka Magica more than I did. I really did. The style was compelling and the story was interesting. Especially in the beginning, a lot of the death and sad stuff didnāt feel all that sad. The last 4 episodes are a solid 8/10, I love time shenanigans. The emotions and character development really shined through in the end. Madoka is such an inherently kind-hearted person, I love her so much!Ā
16. Yakusoku no Neverland - 8.5/10Ā
I was expecting Yakusoku no Neverland to be more graphic, but Iām kind of glad it didnāt go that route. Like Madoka, the last four episodes had me really invested. However, the character development was not as rushed. Itās a smart show and welcomed change of pace. Emma is my favorite character and you bet Iāll be watching season 2. The more I think about this show, the more I appreciate it.Ā
17. Mo Dao Zu Shi - 9/10
Mo Dao Zu Shi 2nd Season - 8/10Ā
I know that is is technically a donghua, but Iām counting it as an anime because its on MAL. Amazing visuals and an incredibly layered story.Ā Censorship makes it difficult to fully appreciate this work and its original novel. Even though I was confused for the first 2 episodes, Mo Dao Zu Shi did a great job of developing the time period and character relationships. The second season wasnāt as satisfying as the first but still great! I donāt think Iāll be watching the live action anytime soon, but I believe that a 3rd season is confirmed for 2020.
18. Banana Fish - 8.5/10
I knew nothing about Banana Fish going into it. Although I didnāt cry at the ending, it definitely made me feel some type of way. Kind of... numb. Banana Fish is painfully realistic. So much so that I had to take a break after episode 15 because I felt sick to my stomach. I also praise Banana Fish for itās healthy, non-fetishized relationship representation. Eiji and Ash have such a complex but healthy relationship. I hope Banana Fish is able to pave the way for better representation in media.Ā
19. Promare - 5/10Ā
Why do people praise Promare so much? I hated how predictable it was. The whole movie felt like a 2 hour animation flex for Trigger. The only character in this movie that didnāt manage to piss me off it some way was Lio. The only other thing Iāve seen by studio Trigger is Kill la Kill, so compared to that, this felt like such a step down. :( I was disappointed.Ā
20. Given - 6/10
Given made me both sad and made me want to start a band. Overall the animation is nothing special, I do like the reactions that some of the characters had. Especially thatĀ āItās Mutualļæ½ļæ½ gif set. I couldnāt get over how much Ritsuka looks like Kageyama. My only complaint was how rushed Mafuyu and Ritsukaās relationship felt. More time should have been dedicated to Mafuyu dealing with and moving past the loss in his life. All that said, Iām still watching the movie.
21. Enen no Shouboutai - 5/10Ā
Generic Shounen, bad ending, great animation. Need I say more? I did not watch Soul Eater (made by same creator), but this was enjoyable. Really cool fights, not so cool character development. A lot of the explanations towards the end felt like complete bull shit. Same energy as using fancy sounding science words to explain things.Ā
22. Hataraku Maou-Sama - 5.5/10
This is another show I felt I wouldāve liked more if I watched it when I was younger. The iesekai trope is so beaten down that classics like this donāt really carry as much weight as they originally did. A 24 episode season with more Slice of Life episodes wouldāve benefited this series greatly.
23. BNA - 7/10
BNA, in my opinion, was so much better than Promare. Like Hataraku Maou-sama, BNA wouldāve benefited from a longer season with more Slice of Life Episodes. Triggerās newer animation is beautiful and I really hope BNA gets renewed for a second season. The ending was cliche as hell, but still really enjoyed this show!
24. Devilman: Crybaby - 7/10Ā
A.K.A. The one show Iāve got to watch when I know Iām alone. The use of multiple languages besides Japanese in the sub was a unique take. The animation was also a little jarring at first, but I came to love it. The themes in this are not the most positive. The end left me feeling numb, but also appreciative. Ryo pissed me off as soon as he tried to kill that cat, so it was hard to sympathize with him in the very end. It is a really good show, but also sickening, Watch at your own discretion.Ā Ā

FEATURE: Meet the Stars of Princess Connect Re:Dive
Ā Going into Princess Connect! Re:Dive, I knew little about it other than the fact that it was an adaptation of a mobile game. That didnāt bode well; my experiences with video game adaptations have been less than positive.
Ā Imagine my surprise, then, when it turned out to be hilarious. When a pair of ridiculous-looking wolves started dragging off our protagonist, I completely lost it. I found myself constantly laughing at the KONOSUBA-esque humor ā it was only much later that Iād learn that Princess Connect and KONOSUBAĀ shared the same director. It was also well-animated andĀ deliveredĀ some impressive-looking action scenes and spell effects.
Ā At the end of the day, however, this is a comedy anime through and through. And comedy anime live and die on the basis of their voice acting. Unsurprising, then, that Princess Connect features an all-star voice cast, with the actors from the mobile game reprising their roles in the anime. Letās take a look at some of the talented voice actors that bring the characters of Princess Connect, both the game and the anime, to life.
Pecorine (MĀ·AĀ·O)
Ā Ā Mao Ichimichi, also known as MĀ·AĀ·O, is probably better known for her non-anime rolesĀ āĀ she started off her career in tokusatsuĀ (live-action often with heavy special effects), most notably playing Luka Millfy in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. She later ventured into anime voice acting. She voices the cheerful and energetic (and perpetually hungry) Pecorine in Princess Connect. She has also voiced Iris in Fire Force, Luluco in Space Patrol Luluco, Hondomachi in ID:Invaded, Vorona in Durarara, Bela in Bem, and Remi Ayasaki in the currently-airing Horimiya.
Kokkoro (Miku Ito)
Ā Ā This isnāt the first time Miku Ito has played a character named Kokoro, having played the character of the same name in the BanG Dream! franchise. Her most well-known role is probably that of her own namesake: Miku from The Quintessential Quintuplets. Her other roles include Shimamura from Adachi and Shimamura, Ann Akagi from Action Heroine Cheer Fruits (in which she starred alongside fellow Princess Connect actor MĀ·AĀ·O), and Nana Mifune in Gleipnir.
Karyl (Rika Tachibana)
Ā Ā Rika Tachibana has an extensive voice acting career in video games, featuring in such titles as Granblue Fantasy, Magia Record, The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, Street Fighter V, and of course Princess Connect, where she playsĀ Karyl. Tachibanaās anime voice acting roles include Sae Kobayakawa from The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, Reiko from Shomin Sample, Naruse from The Island of Giant Insects ā in which she starred alongside ... you guessed it ... MĀ·AĀ·OĀ āĀ and African Wild Dog fromĀ Kemono Friends.
Yuuki (Atsushi Abe)
Ā Ā Our main protagonist Yuuki may not say much, but Atsushi Abe manages to make whatever little he says absolutely hilarious. Abe garnered widespread recognition for his role as Touma Kamijou in A Certain Magical Index and its spinoffs. His other roles include Moritaka Mashiro in Bakuman, Koichi Sakakibara in Another, Takashi in B Gata H Kei, Akiyuki in Xamād: Lost Memories, Soya in Planet With, Inojin Yamanaka in Boruto, and Sougo in IDOLISH7.
Kaiser Insight (Shouta Aoi)
Ā Ā It is not uncommon for female voice actors to voice male roles, especially younger characters. But male voice actors voicing female roles? Extremely rare. Shouta Aoiās unique, āangelicā voice allows him to do so, with him voicing mainĀ Princess ConnectĀ villain Kaiser Insight. Aoi is better known as a singer, but he made his voice acting breakthrough as Ai Mikaze in Uta no Prince-sama. Since then, he has voiced Hideaki Tojo in Ace of the Diamond, Licht in The Royal Tutor, and will voice Subaru in the upcoming adaptation of Tokyo Babylon.
Ā Maho (Maaya Uchida)
Ā Maho is considered by the other Princess Connect characters to be slightly delusional, so of course she is voiced by Maaya Uchida, best-known as the voice of out-of-touchĀ characters like Rikka from Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions and Ranko Kanzaki fromĀ The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls. Her non-delusional roles include Yoshioka from Blue Spring Ride, Norman from The Promised Neverland, Yuki Yoshino from Food Wars, and Catarina Claes from My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom.
Ā Miyako (Sora Amamiya)
Ā Ā I mentioned earlier how Princess Connect feels incredibly KONOSUBA-esque, both in its setting and its sense of humor. Makes perfect sense, then, for it to feature the voice of Sora Amamiya, known for voicing āuselessā goddess Aqua from KONOSUBA. Amamiyaās other notable roles include Elizabeth from The Seven Deadly Sins, Touka from Tokyo Ghoul, Akame from Akame ga Kill, Kaori from One Week Friends, Isla from Plastic Memories, and Asseylum from Aldnoah.Zero.
Ā Hiyori (Nao Toyama)
Ā Nao Toyama played her first major role as Kanon Nakagawa in The World God Only Knows, which kickstarted her music career. Many people also know her as Yui Yuigahama in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, or Chitoge Kirisaki in Nisekoi. However, the role for which I personally recognise her the most is as the quiet Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp. Other major roles include Karen in KINMOZA!, Ruka in Rent-a-Girlfriend, and Nozomi in Sound! Euphonium.
Ā Suzume (Aoi Yuki)
Ā Ā Aoi Yuki has been earning plaudits this season for her energetic portrayal of the titular spider in So Iām a Spider, So What? Yuki has had many significant voice roles over the years, including Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tanya in Saga of Tanya the Evil, Froppy in My Hero Academia, Tamaki in Fire Force, Diane in The Seven Deadly Sins, and Mami in Rent-a-Girlfriend.
Rei (Saori Hayami)
Ā Saori Hayami is one of the most in-demand voice actors of recent times. She is known for portraying Yukino Yukinoshita in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, and received considerable praise for her performance asĀ Shoko NishimiyaĀ in A Silent Voice. Her other notable roles include Shirayuki in Snow White with the Red Hair, Shinobu in Demon Slayer, Tsuruko in AnoHana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Yumeko Jabami in Kakegurui, and Himawari in Boruto.
Ā Jun (Ayako Kawasumi)
Ā Ā Jun is a classic knight in metal armor. And who better to voice a knight than Ayako Kawasumi, best known as the voice of Saber in various installments of the FateĀ franchise. Kawasumi is also a talented pianist, which explains her role as Nodame in Nodame Cantabile. Some of her other major roles include Fuu in Samurai Champloo, Erina Pendleton in JoJoās Bizarre Adventure, Alice in Pandora Hearts, Melfina in Outlaw Star, Natsuki in Initial D, and Lafiel in Crest of the Stars.
Io (Shizuka Ito)
Ā Shizuka Ito won a āBest Actress in Supporting Rolesā award at the 10th Seiyuu Awards for her performances as Meiko Shiraki in Prison School and Sailor Venus in Sailor Moon Crystal. Some of her other major performances are as Himawari in xxxHolic, Ran in Texhnolyze, Kaori Kanzaki in A Certain Magical Index, Boota and Darry in Gurren Lagann, Yayoi in Psycho-Pass, Rei Hasekura in Maria Watches Over Us, and Hinagiku in Hayate the Combat Butler.
Yui (Risa Taneda)
Ā Risa Taneda is undoubtedly best known for her roles as Erina Nakiri in Food Wars and Kaori Miyazono in Your Lie in April. But to me, she will always be Saki from Shin Sekai Yori, where she delivered an excellent performance spanning many ages, and performed the first ending song too. Tanedaās other significant roles include Rize in Is the Order a Rabbit?, Mirai in Beyond the Boundary, Yukina in Strike the Blood, Ai Mizuno in Zombie Land Saga, Xenovia in High School DxD, and Yukari in YUYUSHIKI.
Labyrista (Miyuki Sawashiro)
Ā Ā Miyuki Sawashiro is one of the most prolific voice actors of all time. She first came to prominence as the voice of Puchiko in Di Gi Charat; she famously reprised the role in the English dub of Leave it to Piyoko, becoming the first anime voice actor to voice the same character in both sub and dub. A few of Sawashiroās other major roles include Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter, Celty Sturluson in Durarara, Bishamon in Noragami, Fujiko Mine in recent installments of Lupin the Third, and Kanbaru in the MonogatariĀ series.
Aoi (Kana Hanazawa)
Ā Ā Kana Hanazawa needs no introduction, being one of the most popular voice actors of our times. She rose to popularity as Nadeko in BakemonogatariĀ and its sequels, performing the iconic opening song āRenai Circulation.āĀ Some of her other anime roles include Akane from Psycho-Pass, Mayuri from Steins;Gate, Angel from Angel Beats, Kosaki Onodera from Nisekoi, Hinata Kawamoto from March Comes in Like a Lion, Kuroneko from Oreimo, and Ichika from The Quintessential Quintuplets. Ā

Anime iāve Watched
That begin with a N (Part 2)!
Yep this is how iām going to bring over all the anime and manga iāve watched and posted about on the old blog. Itās not so detailed but it will have to do. Anything new I watch or read from this point on will have their own posts.
Net-juu no SusumeĀ Ā (Recovery of an MMO Junkie):
Genres: Game, Comedy, Romance, ONAĀ
Synopsis:Ā For the first time since graduating high school, 30-year-old Moriko Morioka is unemployedāand she couldn't be happier. Having quit her long-standing job of over 11 years, Moriko quickly turns to online games to pass her now-plentiful free time, reinventing herself as the handsome and dashing male hero "Hayashi" in the MMO Fruits de Mer. With the pesky societal obligations of the real world out of the way, she blissfully dives headfirst into the realm of the game, where she promptly meets the kind and adorable healer Lily. Befriending each other almost instantly, the two become inseparable just as Moriko herself becomes more and more engrossed in her new "life" as Hayashi. Eventually, Moriko adopts the reclusive lifestyle in its entirety, venturing out from the safety of her apartment only when absolutely necessary. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Moriko, a timid 28-year-old corporate worker named Yuuta Sakurai has also logged onto Fruits de Mer from the other side of town. Coincidentally bumping into each other at the convenience store one night, both write off their meeting as no more than just another awkward encounter with a strangerāhowever, fate has more in store for them than they think. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 8/10
Finished airing in 2017 with a total of 10 episodes
My Thoughts: The male lead wears glasses! In case thatās something anyone but me cares about... Aside from that I canāt remember much about this one which is never a sign of an amazing anime so itās up to you friends! Will you watch it or leave it?!Ā
Nijiiro Days:
Genres: Comedy, Romance, School, TV Short, Shoujo, Slice of Life
Synopsis:Ā Nijiiro Days follows the colorful lives and romantic relationships of four high school boysāNatsuki Hashiba, a dreamer with delusions of love; Tomoya Matsunaga, a narcissistic playboy who has multiple girlfriends; Keiichi Katakura, a kinky sadist who always carries a whip; and Tsuyoshi Naoe, an otaku who has a cosplaying girlfriend. When his girlfriend unceremoniously dumps him on Christmas Eve, Natsuki breaks down in tears in the middle of the street and is offered tissues by a girl in a Santa Claus suit. He instantly falls in love with this girl, Anna Kobayakawa, who fortunately attends the same school as him. Natsuki's pursuit of Anna should have been simple and uneventful; however, much to his dismay, his nosy friends constantly meddle in his relationship, as they strive to succeed in their own endeavors of love. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 8/10
Finished airing in 2016 with a total of 24 episodes. Each episode running about 13 minutes in length.Ā
My Thoughts: Love the manga, which I keep meaning to finish because it is a completed title... and I should probably finish it before manga gets even harder to find online with the way things are currently going...Ā
Anywho, the anime! Pretty good. The episodes are about half that of a normal anime but you have a 24 episode count so itās basically the same as having a 12 episodes run with the usual running time!Ā Iād watch it is you want more content after the manga, but keep in mind that the anime does not cover the entirety of the manga!Ā
No Game No Life:
Genres: Game, Adventure, Comedy, Supernatural, Ecchi, Fantasy
Synopsis:Ā No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username "Blank." They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everythingāthe brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games. The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflictāfrom petty squabbles to the fate of whole countriesāare settled not through war, but by way of high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party's wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child's play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2014 with a total of 12 episodes.Ā
My Thoughts: I have a laundry list of things iām meaning to watch, read or do. Watching the No Game No Life movie on Netflix is one of those things. Anyways! I recall this one being alright, nice art/ animation/ character design and an interesting premise but too short and underdeveloped. One of those animes that may have benefited greatly from a longer run or second season.Ā
No.6:
Genres: Action, Sci-fi, Mystery, Drama
Synopsis:Ā Many years ago, after the end of a bloody world war, mankind took shelter in six city-states that were peaceful and perfect... at least on the surface. However, Shionāan elite resident of the city-state No. 6āgained a new perspective on the world he lives in, thanks to a chance encounter with a mysterious boy, Nezumi. Nezumi turned out to be just one of many who lived in the desolate wasteland beyond the walls of the supposed utopia. But despite knowing that the other boy was a fugitive, Shion decided to take him in for the night and protect him, which resulted in drastic consequences: because of his actions, Shion and his mother lost their status as elites and were relocated elsewhere, and the darker side of the city began to make itself known. Now, a long time after their life-altering first meeting, Shion and Nezumi are finally brought together once againāthe former elite and the boy on the run are about to embark on an adventure that will, in time, reveal the shattering secrets of No. 6. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 8/10
Finished airing in 2011 with a total of 11 episodes.Ā
My Thoughts: Just read the manga and watch this as extra, I canāt remember if the anime covered the entirety of the mangaās story but either way check out that source material first! The manga series is also completed which is a huge bonus. High point: The relationship between the two leads.Ā
Noragami:
Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Supernatural, Shounen
Synopsis: In times of need, if you look in the right place, you just may see a strange telephone number scrawled in red. If you call this number, you will hear a young man introduce himself as the Yato God. Yato is a minor deity and a self-proclaimed "Delivery God," who dreams of having millions of worshippers. Without a single shrine dedicated to his name, however, his goals are far from being realized. He spends his days doing odd jobs for five yen apiece, until his weapon partner becomes fed up with her useless master and deserts him. Just as things seem to be looking grim for the god, his fortune changes when a middle school girl, Hiyori Iki, supposedly saves Yato from a car accident, taking the hit for him. Remarkably, she survives, but the event has caused her soul to become loose and hence able to leave her body. Hiyori demands that Yato return her to normal, but upon learning that he needs a new partner to do so, reluctantly agrees to help him find one. And with Hiyori's help, Yato's luck may finally be turning around.
My Rating: 8/10
Finished airing in 2014 with a total of 12 episodes.Ā
My Thoughts: Yes! Watch it! Love it! And also read it. Big downside: The updates for this manga are slow and the story is unfinished obviously. Upside: Two whole seasons of anime goodness, and if weāre really lucky weāll eventually get another? Ok maybe not... but a girl can dream! Also this anime has one of my all time favourite opening themes! Amazing!Ā
Noragami Aragoto:
Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Supernatural, Shounen
Synopsis:Ā Yato and Yukine have finally mended their relationship as god and Regalia, and everyone has returned to their daily life. Yato remains a minor and unknown deity who continues taking odd jobs for five yen apiece in the hopes of one day having millions of worshippers and his own grand shrine. Hiyori Iki has yet to have her loose soul fixed by Yato, but she enjoys life and prepares to attend high school nonetheless. Taking place immediately after the first season, Noragami Aragoto delves into the complicated past between Yato and the god of war Bishamon. The female god holds a mysterious grudge against Yato, which often results in violent clashes between them. It doesn't help that Bishamon's most trusted and beloved Regalia, Kazuma, appears to be indebted to Yato. When lives are on the line, unraveling these mysteries and others may be the only way to correct past mistakes. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 9/10
Finished airing in 2015 with a total of 13 episodes.Ā
My Thoughts: Another amazing opening theme! Seriously this series really knew how to pick them! Also have crushes on a solid chunk of the cast... so thereās that.Ā
